Reviews of The Gateway Hotel
The quality of a hotel much more expensive than the rates. Zone 1, so very convenient for central London travel. The windows were double glazed so no traffic noise. Service was incredible when I needed a favour. A hidden gem in London and highly recommended.
No complaints. The receptionist was very helpful and pleasant and the room was comfortable and clean. No frills.
Thanks to the gateway crew for offering fabulous services. We met our clients there & we finally got their attention. Thanks to my partner RJ Global solutions for suggesting such a nice place. Looking to book our future trips in London and to stay there.
Although the hotel is slightly outdated in some aspects (e.g. the décor). The location with parking on site, which you need to pre-book, alongside the kind and helpful staff is more than suitable for someone on a business trip or someone doing a solo journey.
An excellent value for money hotel on the edge of Clapham Common, the room was fully equipped and really clean. Will come here regularly in the future.
This Inn is one of the best places I have ever stayed in 😁 the staff was lovely and the have a great pain au chocolat for the morning. Also a great place to see an Ed sheeran lookalike 😂
I stayed at this hotel for two nights because of the great price and proximity to the tube station (Clapham South, 2 minutes away). The reception staff were lovely and upon arrival I was shown directly to my room, which is rare these days!
Though small and slightly dated, the room was clean and comfortable. It had everything I needed.
I have knocked off one star only because the fridge in the room didn’t work (room 18), but the fact that there was one at all was great!
I will definitely consider this hotel for my next trip to the capital.
Lovely staff, especially the receptionist Alex, he really helped us feel comfortable. Clean rooms and spacious bathrooms with a nice shower.
The location is also perfect, 3minute walk from the station and there are places for food and corner shops within a minute walk away.
Reasonably priced, comfortable and easily found. Room was small but clean and everything worked. Bathroom clean with excellent shower. Friendly man at reception and all in all good value for what I was looking for. Simple overnight accommodation local to where I was going.
The room was fine. Clean and tidy. The fridge in the room was a nice touch as was the complementary tea and coffee with biscuits. Bathroom very good and a good shower, hot and plenty fast enough. Sheets and towels all good, though there was no shower gel. Tthe wifi was terrible. Very slow and frequently cutting out altogether. I'd also recommend switching off the fridge at night due to the noise.
This is our 3rd stay here whilst attending a music festival. The rooms are clean and well equipped. It's close to a busy road but they even supply ear plugs. Alexandre on reception is a great guy. Very friendly, helpful and funny.
Good no frills hotel in a pretty good location for the price. Close to tube station. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. If you have a room close to the street do expect traffic noise and I could even hear the tube so bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper like me. Also the room next door woke us up early as the floor creaked really loud in their room and the walls are thin but not a bad stay.
We were visiting my son who lives nearby and been out seeing the lights on Oxford Street. We hadn't checked in so go a phone call to remind me. The reception closed at 8 pm so self check in instructions were explained and texted. All was fine. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious.
Only stayed one night. All was fine. Good location.
I always book a room at the Gateway for my parents when they come to visit...the rooms are spacious, nice and clean...but my 5 stars goes to Alex who is absolutely brilliant! The best I have ever came across...He must gets good bonus to be that good! :)
Spent 2 nights in this basic but very comfortable hotel and would highly recommend it. No lift but that was no problem.
The staff were so friendly, helpful and professional. Especially the Portuguese guy, so annoyed I didn't get his name and he wasn't on duty so couldn't thank him. Hope he reads this 👍
The room was super clean with a small fridge, tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits. Perfect!!
Nextdoor there is a very nice Gastro Pub, over the road a Petrol station and a short walk away more restaurants and bars.
The onsite Parking was such a bonus in London.
Would stay again if ever in the area.
The staff are very friendly and the room is very clean. The only con is that you can hear the tube run past every few minutes and the street traffic is quite loud. It's a lovely place to stay, however, and very affordable.
Location: ★★★★★
5 minutes walk from Clapham South tube station. 5 minutes walk from a nice large park. Buss station to different directions. Supermarkets & shops around. Nice pub/club very close. Gas station on the other side of the street. Few fast foods, as I have seen. What else do you need? ... yes, it's a safe and quite around...
Rooms: ★★★★★
Cleaning, changing towels every day. Rooms are small but very comfortable. Wall noise isolation is not good enough. Comfortable bed. Your own bathroom(!) Fredge, TV... Daily coffee and cakes available in your room. There are some larger rooms for families with kid(s). So, you will have just a room, no restaurant no pool or gym - with a positive note.
Staff: ★★★★★
Attentive, nice and supportive. You won't meet them much since hotel has another entrance for guests. So...if you guys read this, Greeting from Armenia! ;)
Price/Value: ★★★★★
I strongly recommend this hotel for price/value. I definitely will book this hotel for my next visits to London. All five starts.
Nice place, not too quiet, but it's cheap enough that it's negligible. As a man at 186cm tall (around 6"1.5') , I struggled a bit with height issues in the bathroom, everything else was fine height wise. Had a very good experience compared to the price payed for the room. Nice people and good service.
Really a pretty good place to stay a while! We just stayed 1 night... But when we'll get back, we will come again for sure. Lot of amiability, we fell really welcome in that nice and clean hotel.
Really great service. Bathroom just small, but I'm 6.3 and maybe that is the problem. Really well connected with Clapham South and the rest of the city. Good pub and good restaurants all around.
Great and chatty staff - responsive to requests. Clean and well maintained. Excellent location (close to the tube). However, close to the main road - expect some noise.
Very good value and very well located
Great location, very clean and tidy and very friendly staff. Would stay again
Only 2 parking spaces £10 a night so book in advance for sure if driving.
Nice little hotel. Close to tube station. High standard quality rooms. Very nice staff. Definitely recommend to anyone :)
It's a bit loud during the day but not too bad at night. Staff is friendly and the facility seems to be kept very clean. Have really enjoyed our stay so far.
The room was really comfortable and clean, we had an amazing welcome when arrived, really good size room. Location is great, close to the Clapham south tube station and is full of shops for every need.
Great location, very helpful staff recommended
We had a wonderful experience, a bit old facilities however we had a great stay. Close to the tube and many restaurants or supermarkets around. Definitely worth it.
Perfect deal for price, location and car parking in London. Had a huge room with huge bathroom and nice selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate and biscuits.
Great room and really unbeatable value
Friendly staff, good experience, clear instructions and equipment corresponding to a 3star hotel. Only quite big inconvenience is that the underground passes under the hotel every 3 minutes and makes quite some noise.
Clean and tidy. Nice room facilities and very friendly staff. Ideal for a value hotel near central London
Stayed for two nights so convenient for getting around if you don't want to drive in London buses and tube so near also bar right next door plenty of eateries nearby room clean staff very polite would stay again when visiting London
The owner went above and beyond! Service was 10/10. Accommodating and welcoming nothing was too much. Managed to get parking outside only £5. Would definitely stay again. Had a lovely experience here and great location also. We stayed in the older part but room was lovely and modern enough. Little noisy as we had front room but not taking away from the experience. Perfect for what we wanted. Many thanks
I slept here for two night and the experience was OK, Alex is really helpful and kind and despite the position, is possible move around 5hanks to busses and underground. Recommended!
Always like staying here. It's comfy, welcoming, great value and close to the station... What more could you want.
Stayed a couple of times now...ideal location with much to do locally...Alex on reception is an absolute star and a real gem....will be staying again when in London...
close to transportation. nice sweet rooms and nice people. clean and tidy rooms. cleaning rooms once a day (thats enough). smiling and happy staff. highly recommended
Nice building and room and very clean. Good value.
We had a wonderfull stay. The Hotel is well located, very close to Clapham South Underground Station and there are plenty of grocery stores near by.
Great little hotel just minutes from Clapham common. Was perfect for us. Clean & affordable
Friendly staff good location book your parking
Good value for money. Can be a noisy location so earplugs are provided! Many thanks!
Great little hotel tremendous value for money very clean. helpful staff
Nice and tidy rooms serviced every day . Real value for money . A bit of traffic noise but they leave ear plugs if your not used to traffic noise . Well worth a stay
Good clean hotel, a very enjoyable stay had
Much better than the Eurolodge Hotel. Alex at the reception is a very helpful and friendly Guy😁
Great little hotel really clean rooms comfy bed excellent for events on clapham common would use it again
Very clean comfortable beds and friendly helpfull staff.
Reception staff just wonderful, room very dated and small
Beautiful apartment and amazingly friendly and helpful staff.
Basic but comfortable. Very fairly priced. Would recommend.
The perfect surprise. A Brazilian host and a really English place were enough to make us feel great there.
Very happy with stay
Clean and tidy. Car park is small. Staff friendly
Clean and comfortable accommodation. We stayed on Saturday night and it was slightly noisy due to the outdoor seating area next door at the pub.
Adequate room for a night or two. Clean, tidy, basic, and does the job.
Very friendly. Large room. Very close to Clapham South tube station.
Perfect for what we needed it for even if the room was unspectacular.
Home and away. Splendid service , lovely staff that I will always have love for x #TheGateway #1
Nice hotel. Clean and comfy
Great room and service. I'd go again.
Clean and decent. To close to the main road.
Lovely place to stay.
Nice place. Right near where i needed to be
lovely staff and uber clean
Room was good in size, clean , manager helpful but reception not open 24 hours
Easy to get transport.
Friendly and well positioned
Very convenient place
It was fantastic
I like this loom
Affordable
You get what you pay for. Small rooms but clean overall. Comfy beds
Good location, the room is very nice. The floor makes noise and they should insulate the windows because it faces the road and cars pass by all night.
Nice, clean hotel. Quite noisy, on a busy street. No breakfast, but there were some cookies and instant coffee or chocolate every day. The kettle was really good. A nice touch: They provided earplugs. It's a bit out of the way, but very easy to reach by subway.
Small, friendly hotel, 2 minutes walk to the subway, the rooms are very clean and the staff is very friendly. The location is great as everything you need is within walking distance - cafes, pubs, supermarket etc. The rooms are absolutely fine for the price. Two small negatives - the street is quite noisy and the bed is not very comfortable. But with a weekend trip and the other benefits, this can be overcome. We'd love to come back!
Very nice clean and cosy hotel. Near to Central London. Good halal eating places nearby. Close to Clapham South underground. Very good experience
Great location, 2/3 minutes walk from Clapham South tube station, from which it is quick and easy to reach all the main attractions of London. Also nearby there are many services you may need: Burger King (right in front), grocery stores, cafes, petrol station, etc.
The rooms are clean and are cleaned every day. The only negative note was the fact that we had a shower that could only be closed with a shower curtain, so the bathroom flooded every time.
Alex from the staff was super kind, helpful and friendly. And that's why I gave 5 stars instead of 4, despite the flaws in the bathroom. He helped us a lot and gave us countless directions and tips to fully enjoy London.
If I returned to London, the Gateway would be my first choice.
Excellent hotel in English style. Nearby metro station - 2 zone. Easy to get to any part of the city. Nearby there are many cafes, grocery stores, Tesco. For breakfast we took a lot of goodies in Tesco in the evening. In the room there is a kettle, mugs, tea, coffee, cream, liver. We were there in November - the heating worked, you can adjust the battery. We did not freeze. We liked everything very much.
The room size is good for two people; the bed is comfortable; the sheets are new; the shower is good. The toilet does not have much water. Overall it is good. It is very close to the subway station; there are many supermarkets around.
I went with my partner to this hotel to spend 4 days in London. We chose it because of the good reviews we read about the hotel and the truth is that it was a success. It is located in a very good area, quiet and with many food options. The metro is next door and the line stops at practically all important stations. It is very simple and quick to get to the city center.
Also make special mention of the receptionist Alexandre, a vital part of that hotel. An excellent person full of vitality, wonderful treatment, very attentive.
The quality/price ratio is very good. Really, highly recommended!
Amazing!
The warmest welcome with a perfect host: smiling, funny and very good advice, Alexander is unforgettable, thank you again!
Very clean and large rooms, really pleasant. Charming and typical hotel, close to the metro, I recommend without hesitation!
The hotel is great. The only drawbacks are the weak Wi-Fi signal, and the apartment was missing a clothesline, a hairdryer, and a broom and mop. Everything else was fine.
The other minor issue is the traffic.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were attentive to our requests. The room was clean, airy and the location was great for public transport.
Nice, clean hotel. Friendly staff. A bit on the outskirts....still less than five minutes walk from the subway. Advised
Welcoming and cheap, a rarity in London, a stone's throw from Clapham South. The only flaw is the very small sinks in the bathrooms, even if they are new.
(Translated) Comfortable, clean place, close to the metro, and with a very friendly reception staff. Thank you for your attention!.

Sitio cómodo, limpio, cerca del metro, y con un personal en recepción muy amable. Gracias por vuestra atención!.
Stayed for 3 nights while visiting family in London, although quite basic it was pleasantly clean and tidy with little fuss, rooms a bit noisy due to constant traffic but they do provide earplugs, comfortable bed and good tea and coffee facilities which where replenished daily, even the biscuits, small but adequate shower and toilet facilities. For the price it was a fabulous find,I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.Great local area for breakfast and shopping and close to Clapham Common South tube station and of course the Common itself for a walk around.
Good location, two blocks from the subway, impeccable service, the rooms facing the street are a bit noisy.
Clean and well-located hotel, close to the metro and shops nearby.
Very welcoming place. Excellent value for money and very friendly and helpful staff
(Translated) Inexpensive and conveniently located. No breakfast, but otherwise useful

Preiswert und verkehrsgünstig gelegen. Kein Frühstück, aber sonst brauchbat
Impeccable. Good price. Close to the metro. Friendly service. I'll be back.
Simple and clean. Excellent value for money.
Comfortable, convenient, economical with a very kind manager
Perfect, good location and cheap!!!!
Meticulous and efficient work
