Myself and 5 friends stayed here securing two rooms at short notice on New Year's Eve 2021 for 2 nights. The Landlord and his partner were personable, friendly and welcoming. The locals in the pub, where you book in for accommodation, were friendly and a laugh. You could tell it had a really nice community feel to it which the Landlord creates. In a part of London where it does look run down (don't judge on looks) but I felt very safe. There are a few eateries and convenience shop within a 5 minute walk. The shared kitchen on the first floor was well equipped, washing machine, cooker etc. Perfect for longer stays and prepping your own meals to keep costs down. The room was great for what we needed (3 of us sharing), double bed, one single and en suite. Shower was very good. Clean and tidy, basic but comfortable. It was quiet at night even being near a road. Fridge with generous tea, coffee provision. Fridge kept all our food and drinks cold for the two days and little freezer worked. The fire safety measures in the building are also a high priority which demonstrates their commitment to people's safety whilst staying there. One evening the landlord spent some time ensuring the self closer was correct for the door to the upper floors - security and fire safety. I would stay here again!

I love this place When you walk in the door you know you’re in a London boozer with all the locals You check in at the bar get your keys and go outside to the entrance to the rooms and leave your stuff in the room go back to the bar order a drink and a fresh cooked pizza The rooms are clean and there’s a fully equipped kitchen for guests to use yes a fully equipped kitchen !! The bathroom’s are shared but there’s plenty of them on all floors fresh towels and body wash etc The bus stop is on the main road and there’s a local market nearby at weekends It’s a great budget hotel The staff are brilliant I’ve stayed there on a number of occasions and can’t fault it It is after all a budget hotel in London

Wonderful pub and hotel. Rooms are exactly what you need while on a short trip to London, while the pub is in a perfect location for travelling into the centre. The landlord and his team were amazing, and comendably professional to deal with. I would highly recommend this place to anyone is looking a for a comfortable, affordable, and convenient location to stay while visiting London.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the location is ideal to explore London, there is a bus stop outside which takes you to Elephant Castle underground station but you can easily walk it there in ten minutes, or you can catch the bus and get off at London Bridge, which did not take long. The bathroom and room were clean. It was excellent value for London. The pub next to/underneath the rooms was cheap and the locals were friendly, especially with my husband. Have seen some reviews mentioning how the area looks, you need to open your mind and realise that iner-city living does not always mean that it is a bad area. We were walking around the area late on Saturday night, as my husband wanted to find a takeaway, and found it quiet then and all the rest of the time. The locals were friendly and the area was quiet.

If you're looking for a basic room to stay in while enjoying London I'd recommend this place. It's simple, but worked great, and the staff is very helpful. We stayed in the two twin room for 7 days and the beds were comfy and clean and the facility felt secure. There were two showers on the floor which were also very clean. Towels were provided as well as shampoo and soap. There were three bus stops into London central, all within a 10 minute walk (one right out front). For us being caught between the decision of spending twice as much on a name brand hotel, or considering less privacy by staying in a hostel, this place rocked.

The Hour Glass is clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Although basic, the rooms are more spacious than in other hotels I've stayed in at this price. It's a great budget option, especially as there are kitchen facilities, so if you're staying longer you don't need to worry about the cost of eating out for every meal. While less well-placed for the tube and central London than some other budget options, it's close to the Old Kent Road for bus connections, and a very short walk from the lovely Burgess Park, which is a bonus. The free WiFi is better than in other hotels I've used. Keep in mind that reception is in the pub downstairs, so check-in is easiest when the pub is open - aim to arrive at a suitable time!

Perfect for little breaks around Brixton area. I stayed here one night to see a band at the 02 academy with my partner and the rooms had everything we needed. Showers come with shampoo and body wash already there and a kitchen with equipment free to use.

Very nice little hotel hidden in an area where perhaps you wouldn't expect to find nice hotels! It was very clean, cosy and the owner was very welcoming. The room was perfect for two friends on a catch up trip to London on a low budget who really didn't want to stay somewhere that would leave us feeling sullied or itching with regret again!! It was obviously quite bust when we stayed but not a noisy place. Check in and out was smooth and although transport was not as straightforward as in some areas we stayed it was still not too inaccessible with a bit if forward planning. There were good facilities in the room including a fridge! The bathroom was small but very clean. I would recommend putting judgements of the area aside to enjoy this little gem.

It is a nice and cosy apartment hotel. Room my friend was in had two beds, a television amongst other things. It's more like a live-in apartment. Downside was that the water heater was not working.

The Hour Glass, for its price, location, and friendly service, is a perfect hotel. We checked in late around 11:30 PM, and the attendant was extremely friendly and willing to help. In fact, we were given an upgrade from a twin room to a triple for the same price when there was a little mix up within the booking system (not the fault of the hotel). The beds are extremely comfortable and clean, the wifi is fast (and also free), and the bathroom facilities are very hygienic. I highly recommend the Hour Glass.

More like a hostel, we had bunk beds in or "family sweet." Not fancy but has a fun sports bar downstairs if you don't have kids and very clean. Close to a park but no other large monuments. The neighborhood looked a bit unsafe for night time plus no check in desk if you arrive early you must call.

It is located in the perfect position to easily reach the centre of London. Connections are really good and reachable at walking distance. The place is quiet and clean, the staff is friendly. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean as well. I was totally and positively surprised to fing the fully-equipped kitchen for self-catering (this is no little thing in expensive London!) plus the possibility to ask for optional room accessories (hairdrier and the electric converter I had forgotten at home!). I got the perfect place to stay at a very cheap price, with also a traditional pub downstairs, which gave me a real taste of England without having to go far at night!

Although this venue & facilities are not technically of a 5 star level, they are very friendly & clean + it's a perfectly adequate, affordable place to stay close enough to access all central London venues. We would definitely stay again 🙂

Very good and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Not far from bus station. Best price-quality ratio in London. Dark drapes in case you want to sleep in the sunny morning. There is a big kitchen with two microwaves, toaster, washing and dryer machines. Also TV, electric kettle and fridge in the room. The window is very big, a long battery under it and additionaly a separate little electric battery.

We went on a spontaneous budget trip to London and to be honest all we needed was a bed and a shower, we got this and a kitchen to use. The carpets are old, the bed was creeky and a bit short but there was a fridge, the bathrooms were failry newly refurbished and the kitchen was fully equipped. The cleanness of the kitchen was based on the cleanness of the guests but was fairly decent. There was however a bit of mold in the poorly ventilated bathrooms. This can easily be fixed a bit round or two of chlorine. I didn't mind staying here at all considering the price was so low and the neighbourhood was quiet (aparty for one night when all the drunks gathered around our window.. All night.) The help was superb though, very nice staff. They've prioritised the bathrooms which I think is a good call, but the carpets and bedrooms could easily be on their next to-do list.

The bathrooms were shared but that was no problem since, if they were occupied, there were several more available. The area is a bit far from the center but there is a bus stop right next to it. It has a kitchen and that is a plus since you save GBP's and they also leave you coffee and tea with two cookies that come great for breakfast. The girl who attended us was very friendly and nice.
