Lovely welcoming pub and clean, affordable bunk accommodation plus great staff. A bit pricey on drinks but broadly not too bad for a prime London location. Outstanding gourmet burgers and food, breakfast a bit so so but the overall experience, ambience and location are simply first class. If you are resident then state it at the bar to get your 19% discount. Recommended and will return! The whole Publove franchise is cool!!!

Haven’t checked out yet but these guys are awesome. Pub open 24 hours for guests. They’re there for you whatever you need. There was a mix up w my reservation and they immediately fixed it. Really super night here. This pub is part of the 'PubLove' chain of hostels and we spent the night here whilst on a trip to funky Southwark. Just around the corner from Borough Market. We got one of the private, en-suite rooms. Superb value, perfect location, friendly people. Highly recommended!

This Pub sits nicely along Southwark & London Bridge just away from the Rail Bridge. It is clean friendly and reasonable priced with list of IPA's that you can enjoy in the Secret Garden. And if you get to personal with the drinks you can sleep it off in one of the rooms available for Backpackers again priced so your not in debt with your Bank.. Pub grub Yummy not messy.. And staff always helpful.. This is a great place to catch up with your friends and family.. Enough said..!!

Pub is very nice, with a lively atmosphere when it gets busy. The hostel upstairs was clean, but staff would not check you in before 2pm, regardless of bed availability. Also there are triple bunk beds, the lower being almost on the floor, so be aware that beds are a tight space. Showers were good, but toilet and washroom very tight. Location is good, not far from the underground. The Shard, Borough Market, Globe and Tate Modern are nearby.

Only second review I’ve ever written. Wandered in after a predictably rubbish experience in Flat Iron Sq. Michael welcomed us as we came in, and he and the team properly looked after us all evening. The Rose and Crown is one of the more unique hostels I have stayed at. The good: it is nice and clean. The beds are very comfortable (albeit short, see below). It's in a decent neighborhood and walking distance to a number of must see tourist spots. The breakfast is great, the best I have had at a hostel. The bad: the beds are only about 6'4, which was not ideal for my 6'5 self. The hostel is also right over a bar, so you an hear the loud drink people on the street. I sleep like a rock, so not a huge deal for me. I can't image what it would be like on weekends. The other thing to know is that there is no common area. I usually like to relax and talk to travels on my downtime, but that's a no go here. Still enjoyed my stay, and would come back. The price is right

This is a pub straight out of a Hollywood film depiction of a traditional London watering hole. The crowd was boisterous - from all walks of life - even on a Thursday. The staff is pleasant and the owner is friendly. This would be a great place to stay if you're looking for a real taste of England: a bit grimy, sort of chavvy, but welcoming nonetheless. The hostel is not ideal if you are a light sleeper or you forgot your white noise headphones, but the continental breakfast is lovely, the drinks aren't watered down, and there are darts and snooker all evening. Definitely worth a stay... if you don't have a business meeting the next morning, that is.

I like this pub but it's linked to some sad occasions when work colleagues have had their leaving drinks. The pub itself is pretty big, but the great part is a "beer garden" space out the back that you can hire out. It's quite secluded but big enough for a large group of people. Cool place.

For a hostel near central London, it's a worthwhile stay. Not only is it affordable and easy on the wallet, you'll feel secure with the multiple doors that require codes. There's absolutely no worry of having your stuff stolen. The bathrooms are relatively clean and showers are more than efficient. Only downside is that there really isn't a common area to hang out with other hostel visitors and the food options are rather limited outside of the free breakfast.

This hostel has amazing bathrooms - modern, clean and bright - and even with touch-activated mirror lights (although I'm not sure how many weary backpackers really want to see with that level of clarity what they really look like...). The rooms were nice enough - had all sorts of possibly unnecessary things like a tv and computer, and the curtains over the bunk beds were appreciated, but our room was cold as the window my bed was beside didn't shut all the way. I'd prefer windows that closed to a fancy bathroom or a tv in the room... The staff were very helpful - I was able to check in early - as the pub closes at 11 it's not possible to check in later than that usually, which is problematic if you have arrived earlier in the day and have evening plans. I can't comment on the free breakfast as I left before it began, but knowing it is on offer is a good boost to the value for money.

I stayed here for one night in the double ensuite room because I was attending a course nearby. Pro's: - Comfortable bed and cushions - Plenty of outlets for your power plugs and usb plugs - Free and fast WiFi - big desk with comfortable chair - really big shower with strong water jet and steaming hot water - Friendly staff - delicious English breakfast served quickly - Underground is a short walk - Borough market and other restaurants are a short walk away Con's: - Lots of typical hostel noises: party people in the lively bar downstairs and in the streets, slamming doors in the middle of the night from other guests, fray trains run over a bridge across the street from the hostel during the night. You'll need quality earplugs. - The room was a bit hot on a fresh September night, I guess it will be really hot in summer. There is no Aircon in the room. - Lots of very small stairs to climb to get to the room. You'll struggle if you bring a big suitcase. - For some reason, there is a bright yellow green light right above the bed that stays on all night. I couldn't figure out what it was nor how to put it out. Tip: The brunch is 9 pounds but guests get 25% off. You might be cheaper off to book a room without breakfast and buy your breakfast with your discount.

If you are searching for a hostel in London, look no further! Charles (hostel owner) IS MY HOMESLICE!!! Cannot thank him enough for keeping a crazy single-female traveler (like myself) out of *ahem* trouble. -Went above and beyond (at 2am) to help me in a mishap I encountered .. which could have gotten really scary, real quick. I've looked at some of the other reviews and notice people complaining about the many codes to get into the building. Would like to clarify that it is very simple and makes you feel VERY safe! Charles has gone above and beyond to make sure the hostel is safe and fun. Female Traveler Secret (Charles might not like this?): Sneak down into the bar bathroom to get ready in the morning! -It's huge and you'll likely have it all to your gypsy self :) Charles: you.complete.me! haha hope all is well mate!

Very happy with my stay here. Didn't eat/drink in pub bit so can't comment there. Hostel had good WiFi, reasonable security, hot water & comfy bed. Private room had plenty of space and cool vibe. Definitely weren't as many rooms as I expected, not a big place overall which I liked. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Despite being above a pub it was very quiet in the private room, only noise ever was people coming up to the top floor, or the sound of air hand dryers in bathrooms downstairs. Impressed.

(Translated) This hotel is one of the most satisfying ones I have ever stayed in. If you are looking for a relatively cheap but comfortable place to sleep, then this one is right! The location is on the South Bank near London Bridge and Tate Modern, I think it's not bad. The bar downstairs is a shopkeeper with the Youth Hostel, so checkin is done in the bar, but it is also very convenient. The room was very clean and spacious, the bed was very comfortable to sleep, with its own charging port and small lights, very convenient at night. The restrooms, showers and toilets are also the best I have ever seen in the Youth Hostel.
