I am just home from a wonderful stay at this hotel. Nothing was too much for the staff - asking for assistance with my double pram, luggage, room service - everything was FAULTLESS! I travelled with 3 children aged 10, 3 and 18 months. We tried the pastry experience, which was just wonderful for all ages - especially as they were all able to meet the pastry chef herself! The Prince and Princess Afternoon Tea for the children was beautiful and, again, a fabulous experience - they really did feel like royalty (as did I!). The suites we stayed in were kept exceptionally clean and the beds were so comfortable! A special THANK YOU to Maisie, Tony, Aaron, George, Junior and Sarah (Pastry Chef). It truly was a magical stay. I will certainly be back (this is the only place I will now stay in London!)

From start to end, our stay over Christmas 2021 was a delight! The entire team was incredibly helpful and welcoming and the doormen were fabulous with lots of helpful suggestions and always able to get us a quick taxi! The rooms were lovely and super clean! All the restaurants were excellent, but Afternoon Tea was beyond compare! We highly recommend The Ruben’s for your future stay!

We had a lovely afternoon tea here. You will find different dietary options when booking and they even offer an option for children: prince or princess! My son enjoyed the afternoon tea, and he loved the Nutella and PB&J sandwiches!
We were lucky to be there when the pianist was playing live.

Extremely professional and polite staff. Very helpful from reception to housekeeping. The decor in the main reception rooms is old world charm.
However, our room, a superior king room was not what I was expecting for a 5☆ hotel. The facilities were more in keeping with 3☆ establishment. The only nod to luxury was the bedding and towels. No fridge in the room shabby furniture and carpet. This room must have been missed off the refurbishment list. Maybe they have certain rooms they keep for the tourists?
The breakfast was very good and we appreciated the air conditioning.

We had such a wonderful time. The festive afternoon tea was amazing. We had a warm welcome, great service, top quality food. Definately worth the cost. We can't recommend this experience highly enough. Top points all round and extra thanks to Oliver for looking after us so well on my partner's birthday

In December we had the pleasure to have Afternoon Tea here. The atmosphere and experience was everything we hoped it would be. Our waitress Gabriella was superb and was so kind and attentive really added to the our whole experience.

We had afternoon tea today (12th Feb) and it was such a great experience! My wife booked this as I'm on crutches so we couldn't do too much and I'm glad she did as we really enjoyed ourselves. ALL the staff from the concierge to the servers inside were very attentive and friendly, the pianist was really talented, the sandwiches and cakes were really, really good. We went with the halal sparkling afternoon tea and the hotel was very accommodating. My wife asked for a window seat and that's exactly what they gave us! We would definitely come here again and recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice relaxing afternoon tea experience.
Side note: please don't do what my wife did and walk out without paying. Although they take your card details during booking for a deposit, you still have to pay the remainder on the day! (I'm the one that usually does all the bookings wherever we go hence her oblivious-ness)
All in all, a really great experience and thanks to everyone working there today.

Great hotel! Customer service is second to none and always happy to cater to any special requests. Only stayed for the 1 night but thoroughly enjoyed the entirety of my short stay.
Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to stay in a higher budget hotel in London.

Lovely hotel, really good centrally located, not far from main bus route, we normally use the tube, but bus was easier. The beds were super comfortable. Asked for extra tea milk and sugar for the room which was immediately supplied. Clean hotel. Very nice friendly staff. Would book here again in an instant

I had a lovely afternoon tea here for my Mums birthday. Food was delicious and all the staff were friendly and accomodating. She was also given an extra slice of cake with Happy Birthday on, which is a nice touch. The hotel was like stepping back into another era and I must add the toilets were clean and beautiful!

Wow just got back celebrated Christmas and our Anniversary amazing staff feels like home so warm and friendly was greeted with mulled wine stollen cake mince pies. The beds and rooms are so comfortable with Christmas trees in our rooms and Christmas morning a stocking on our door our 3rd time here and will be back again

Craig the concierge made a good stay turn into an amazing stay. He was Always so happy and enthusiastic, and loved talking to me and my partner about my home country Australia. Unfortunately he went on his break for us to give him a well deserved tip. We will be back to spoil him next time. Bunya mountains big fell

The Staff where the best we have had in many hotels around the world , however the room was no where near 5 star . We arrived on the 3rd September for 9 nights and we where sent to room 412 which was a king room, mews view. It was a mews view but I don’t know where the king came from we would not like to go in the lesser rooms . I rang down to reception and asked whether this room was a king room. They said it was but it did not look anything like the video on the website. There was two cheap bedside cabinets that we had trouble opening and shutting. There was only one chair in the room so we asked for another . It came but there was not much room to put it . We could hear everything that was going on in either the room next door or below or above. One night there was a gentleman on the telephone, he might as well have been in our room we heard everything he said. To sum it up the staff on reception in the breakfast room and the especially the concierge lads where excellent . However the room let this holiday down. Also myself and my wife like to mostly eat in the hotel but the English grill was closed. I understand that there is a shortage of staff but thy could still open the curry room .we did eat in the bar and the b bar which was good but the menu was a bit sparse . We booked well in advance so you could easily have let us know. We have stayed in 2 and 3 star hotels which had a better room than we where given. We are both over 70 years old and we like to relax when we get back to our room, we could not at the Rubens.

My mother and I arrived at this beautifully decorated hotel, and was greeted with a very warm welcome and this continued throughout the whole of our stay from all the staff at the Rubens.
The hotel is in a great location , short walk from Victoria railway station and walking distance to Buckingham Palace.
Our room was very pretty and spotlessly clean. We also enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea, which I can highly recommend. Can not fault this hotel and we are very much looking forward to our return visit. Thank you Rubens for a wonderful stay.

What an incredible Hotel. Firstly the location is literally a stone's throw from Buckingham palace and its equally as gorgeous in the opposite direction towards Victoria. We were a four minute walk from Victoria underground station and we reached wherever we needed to be in London within max 20 minutes (Camden Markets in North London was the longest) we walked all over London and were never too far from the hotel. Secondly the rooms were exceptionally clean and styled in a very theatrical 'old British' style. The room was on the smaller side but had everything we needed for our stay, really it's the average size you would expect in a city hotel but done to a very high standard. Sky movies on the tv was an added bonus for the evening we wanted to keep it relaxed. Our bed was a big comfortable cloud that we sank into every night. Overall we found the room to be ideal for our stay. Thirdly the breakfast in this hotel is second to none. I have quite frankly never eaten such a high quality breakfast in a hotel before, the food is a credit to the chefs. From fresh breakfast baps to fluffy pancakes the restaurant had it all. The finish and finesse of all meals on the menu was just incredible not to mention they tasted out of this world. My partner was thrilled with a large teapot every morning, not the average one cup pot you see in many hotels. They are incredibly adaptable in terms of Gluten Free, with my partner even stating it was the best toast shes ever had (not an easy achievement) I found the exceptional breakfast every morning really was an added bonus for us as we had it included in the cost. Finally I'm saving the best for last. The staff. The staff are what gives The Rubens its life and character. I have never met such a warm group of people, to be honest they have been the best compared to any other hotel we've stayed in. The Porter was incredible, he was friendly, helpful and we had a lot of fun discussing the heat of a certain snack I had purchased, a great guy who is the ideal welcoming character for the hotel. Staff on reception were exceptionally friendly and nothing was an issue for them. They ran a tight ship and we never passed them by without a friendly interaction. The restaurant staff really are something other hotels should learn from. I asked to bring my partners breakfast to the room one morning and they could not have done more, I ordered it and they presented it like it was something The Queen herself had ordered. They were so attentive to us every morning and nothing was an effort for them. To be quite honest that started our day off by putting us both in a great mood. Overall the staff in this hotel should come together and write a book on 'how to hotel', I simply cannot recommend The Rubens enough. I would go back in a heartbeat and I will absolutely sing its praises to all who ask in Ireland. We will be back, to be honest it's a no brainer and worth every penny!

Misunderstanding with what I had booked caused by the agent that I had booked it with, the voucher was not clear and lead to an uncomfortable dialogue between some staff and myself. Sandwiches, scones and cakes were amazing and looked great too. Staff were helpful and guided us through any questions we had and assisted our choice of teas, which is second to none. As a tea drinker it is amazing to see so many tea choices compared with coffee shops and their 100 ways to have a coffee and two ways to have a tea. Took three attempts for the cloakroom to return our jackets even after they gave us a token to get them back.

We had a wonderful time staying at Rubens at the Palace! The staff were amazing and in particular Paula Orton went the extra mile in terms of customer service. The staff are very welcoming and make a fuss of children and so my daughter had a wonderful time. The breakfast was lovely too. We would highly recommend!
s. S.
Really Great service which gets the four stars. Staff friendly and very tentative. Also they were great with the kids. Mine want to go back again. Location good too as the station or bus stop a short walk away which then will get you anywhere in London. Great restaurants walking distance too. Only thing is the rooms are in need of updating. Colours and decor not to my taste.

We did a bottomless champers afternoon tea & really enjoyed it. We were topped up very regularly & the sandwiches, scones and cakes were more than adequate and we left stuffed. We could have had extra sandwiches (free) but didn't need. The 2 gentleman that served us were excellent.

First of all I’d like to start off by saying I’ve stayed in many 5* luxury hotels across the world, but the child friendliness of this hotel was like no other. On arrival there was a member of staff waiting just to greet my 5 and 1 year old, and made them do a little cute child’s check in, and then gave them a cute little doggy teddy bear, (the same breed the queen apparently has). The lady then arranged a few baking activities with them the following day, where they dressed the kids in cute bakers outfits and got them to decorate cakes and biscuits, and then gave them a certificate for it too with Polaroid photos, all part of the service. Brilliant!
Staff members at the hotel very friendly and quick to respond to any room service requests. Great location literally a minute or two walk from the entrance of Buckingham palace.
Breakfast was not a buffet, and it was nice to be served from the menu, however it did take a long time to get the food. Nevertheless a brilliant stay and would definitely be staying here again.

Overall, a five star hotel experience. The staff is extremely attentive and helpful. The ambiance is awesome. The lowest priced rooms are very small with amazingly comfortable beds.

So pleased we chose here. There are so so many Afternoon Tea's in London to choose from so we consider ourselves lucky to have chosen The Ruben's at the Palace. Friendly and professional service, beautiful surroundings and just perfect food and drinks. Will definitely return at some point. Thank you very much 😛

Great experience with live pianist in a historic setting. Food was delicious, particularly the white chocolate and honey scones. The only downside is the tables are very low so anyone over 5'5 won't get their legs underneath which is very frustrating as you have to lean forward to eat or hold your plates over your lap. I would recommend if it wasn't for the poor tables.
J.
Had an afternoon tea with my partner. It was overall delicious and so much food we could not quite finish. Special mention to the scones! They were amazing, and the strawberry and orange jam was wonderful.
The staff was so polite and attentive, very professional.
The only thing I would change would be the seat, which I did find a tiny bit too small for me and my partner.
Also the place is lovely but needs a bit of refreshing (varnish on wood, change of wall drapes that have faded a bit etc). That being said the place keeps the charm and elegance that you can associate with its name.

Stayed at this hotel this weekend. It's amazing! From the moment you step up to the front door the service is awesome. The porter took our bags from us as soon as we arrived, and they were whisked up to our room. We had a cocktail in the New York bar whilst our room was made ready (which was still hours before check in time of 2pm). Cocktails are fantastic.
The room was spotless and very red! It was our anniversary, and the staff had written a lovely message to us on the mirror and then we were totally surprised with a little cake sent up to our room. It was such a lovely gesture.
Breakfast was great. Again, service is outstanding.
We'll definitely stay here again. Thank you for making our city break so memorable. X

Amazing! One of our favourite hotels. Each person is treated like the only person. All the staff was incredible and impeccable service. Especially to the lovely lady Erika who made our afternoon tea so special with her attention and to Alice on the reception for being so friendly. Everyone at The Ruebens was such a pleasure. We look forward to staying again.
R. I.
Gorgeous hotel, fairly quirky too! Excellent service from the hotel staff, made us feel like royalty. Highly reccomend. Rooms were clean and comfortable and decorated well. Can not fault the hotel.
U. E.
So luscious. The service and quality was magnificent. The interior design was exquisite. I lived the quite love piano acoustic in the background while enjoying my afternoon tea. Anyway pre waiting I highly suggest "The Guard" cocktail! Delicious
S.
Beautiful place for afternoon tea served by lovely, knowledgeable staff willing to cater to individual preferences where possible. Also made my dog feel very welcome. My only suggestion for improvement would be to cater for dogs too like their sister hotel (Egerton House Hotel) as my dog would have loved something nice to eat too. It would be especially great if this included offerings for vegan dogs such as cucumber sandwiches and peanut butter biscuits!

This hotel is located in a very central location, close to Victoria and all of the central London amenities.
The rooms are well appointed and the staff are supper friendly.
The breakfast is good and there is lots to choose from both continental and also English breakfast.
Many of the rooms have been updated to renovated and tasteful decor.
It’s easy to walk to many places from this hotel,
Victoria, Buckingham palace, regent street, Oxford Circus, green street, Hyde park, the london eye, the river and many more. Location is ideal for a city break.

Amazing hotel. It's an extremely well kept and wonderful looking establishment. The rooms are very clean, the beds are so comfortable and bath and shower are brilliant. Staff here are very nice and friendly and very polite and are happy to accommodate requests. The young gentleman non the front desk is a delight! The food is top quality, I highly recommend the full English breakfast. The bar areas are relaxing and comfortable with a lovely range of snacks and drinks as well as lite bites and burgers. The rooms have Sky TV, still and sparkling water and tea making facilities, along with a safe, robes, slippers and towels. There is no designated smoking area for any smokers but you can step outside and there is an ashtray situated right next to the tour bus stop a few yards along. Overall this hotel is a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in central London.

What a lovely gem of an hotel. The staff are lovely and really look after you. Salvatore in the New York bar deserves a special mention for going all out to take care of us along with Frank. Highly recommended.

My sister and I had afternoon tea at this fantastic establishment this afternoon. It was excellent. From the moment we were welcomed by the Doorman to the time we had to depart, the customer service was excellent. We had Lanson Rose with our traditional afternoon tea. The sandwiches were a great selection - cucumber, smoked salmon, egg, coronation chicken, ham and cheese... The scones were warm and fluffy and the desserts were delightful. All being well, we have already decided to return very soon. Highly recommended whether visiting for pleasure or for entertaining a client. Awarding 5 stars was easy!
N. S.
4 stars due to customer service by door men, front desk, and dining room. Staff was always kind, helpful and patient. Quiet location close to Victoria station. Wish there was a hair dryer. Our bed was two twin beds put together. The light switches to parts of the room were frustrating. Not all rooms were created equal, however ours felt a little cramped with all the furniture and chairs. Recommend for couples or families.
R. K.
Absolutely amazing stay here this weekend, the staff literally could not do enough for you nothing was to much trouble. A massive thank you to Maisy who went the extra step to make sure my children had the most amazing time, she really is a credit to this hotel and my children's visit that bit more special thanks to her
A. K.
Thank you for making our special day - even more special. You helped us to deal with wedding stress and offered such high quality service that we never experienced before. Those little things like cake, chocolate strawberries, room preparation, together with extremely well organised support and care package offered by your staff - they make your note so special. Thank you for being so great!
A. 8.
Had afternoon tea for a special occasion. The service was excellent and venue was lovely, but the food left much to be desired.
The clementine chocolate mousse dessert was prettt but the flavors did not meld well with the lemon curd. Orange was overall overpowering.
Christmas pudding tart was bland and the peanuts did not complement the flavours of the tart.
Santa belt with a heart of apple compote on a shortbread biscuit was passable but nothing remarkable
Cherry choux was too acidic and sickly with too much whipped cream.
While the Christmas themed concepts of the pastries in theory seem like they would work well, the finish somehow misses the mark for all of them which is unfortunate. Still we had a very pleasant afternoon.

A Royal Afternoon Tea @rubenshotel
A truly royal experience with the tastiest cinnamon chai tea ever, sandwich selection, cakes and scones overlooking Buckingham Palace gardens.
The menu was inspired by members of the royal family and best of all you can reorder as many items as you want! 🐷
The atmosphere and service was incredible we loved all of the sandwiches, they look and sound basic, but, basic with exceptional ingredients makes a delight for the taste buds. The scones were a bit of a let down we didn’t eat the honey and white chocolate one and the other was nice but just a little too chewy so it sticks to your teeth. The jam was also a little runny but the clotted cream was divine!
The pastries we ordered numerous crowns, queen orchard and weirdly the macaroons. I have a bad relationship with large macaroons but these were insanely delicious!
K.
Had a short stay bed was most comfortable I have ever slept in, afternoon tea was exceptional and friendly and helpful staff.
s. s.
Service and staff are fab, particularly the doormen who go above and beyond. No complaints about the hotel, breakfast was lovely, clean and comfortable hotel. Plenty of staff who work extremely hard. Also good price for a 5*.
I. P.
If you want to feel special pay extra and stay here. Staff go the extra mile to make you welcome. Rooms are spotlessly clean and have a luxury feel. Breakfast is as good as it gets. Worth having a room overlooking the Royal Mews.
K. T.
Bottomless afternoon tea.
Wonderful experience yesterday for our friends special birthday. Nothing was too much trouble, attentive service from Assar?? ( lost the card with his name on) and Saif. Food superb, we couldn’t eat it all! Will hopefully go back.
M. R.
Bottomless afternoon tea - service and staff are wonderful but I have to say the sandwiches were bland this time and tables could be higher, slightly uncomfortable not being able to get knees underneath!
D. O. R.
I recently stayed here for two nights, the staff made you feel like you were coming home every time you came back to the hotel. They really couldn’t do enough to accommodate any request that I had. I stayed in a cosy double room, the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was one of the best I have ever had. The only minor fault was the food was not of a consistent standard and was sometimes not hot enough when it arrived at the table. But overall I would definitely stay here again.
L. G.
Great stay here recently. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely return again on a trip to London.

We stayed at Hotel 41 (see my review) and my wife had booked us in for The Curry Experience with Chef Kumar.
We were met in the bar area by our host, Mohan who served us a glass of champagne before telling us a brief history of the hotel. He then escorted us through to the kitchen where we met Chef Kumar and two of his team. For the next 40 minutes we were invited to taste and learn about the food, flavours and techniques that Chef Kumar implements to achieve such flavoursome and unique Indian foods. Our glasses were kept topped up by Mohan who also shared insights into traditional Indian cuisine and its place at the Rubens.
After explaining to Chef Kumar some of our preferences we were guided down to the basement of the hotel which served previously as a library. It was the perfect setting as Mohan served us our first wine pairing for our poppadoms, lamb somosa and accompaniments. My goodness, what a treat! I can honestly say, the flavours of the food were amazing and the wine choice was excellent - the perfect companion.
We then moved onto our mains where we were given several main dishes and another wine. Mohan once again spent an incredible amount of time talking us through the history of each dish and connection to India. My wife and I were absolutely taken aback by the incredible dishes.
The whole experience was topped off by Chef Kumar attending our table to check on the choices he had provided and handover some of his very own Garam Masala along with a recipe card for his fabulous butter chicken.
Dessert was a struggle to finish but was the perfect finale to an amazing experience.
Our sincere thanks to Chef Kumar, Mohan and all the team for the Curry Experience. It won’t be our last visit!

My partner booked this for our anniversary this weekend. On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and made to feel like royalty. They even went the extra mile and created a lovely message on the mirror, a cake with 'happy anniversary' on and a lovely postcard. Little touches like this make it feel personal and was much appreciated. The room was spotless and the receptionist even called to check we were content with the room. Each time we came back to the hotel and left the hotel, we were welcomed back and told to have a great day. Not once were we made to open the door by ourselves (the lovely door men do a great job). We are only a young couple and we honestly felt so welcome and we were treated like kings and Queens.
Will definitely be returning as it was simply amazing!
Well done to all the staff; the reception team, the restaurant and bar staff, the luggage men, the door men and the car staff! What an amazing team you have!
J. T.
This was our first visit to celebrate mum's 70th. Afternoon tea was the best one I've ever had, with fantastic service and I will be highly recommending it to all my friends and family. Everyone was so friendly and really made us feel very welcome and valued. The extra little surprise cake for my mum's birthday made the whole experience extra special. I'm a customer service trainer and therefore I know great service when I see it. Thank you to all the team, you are amazing.
S. I. N.
Lovely, fresh sandwiches, bottomless champagne and a good choice of teas to pair with a menu of your choice. Great hospitality by Mohan & Vince. I will return real soon.
A. H.
Outstanding hotel, wonderful afternoon tea, expensive but the quality and service you receive are amazing 👏
L. M.
What a beautiful place to sit and enjoy a relaxed afternoon tea. The staff are very courteous and professional. The food is divine. I had asked in thy booking to have a jug of water and an extra napkin as I have a disability that causes mouth and eating issues. My request was granted at no hassle or fuss. I also eat oddly due to my disability, and was treated very well. No one batted an eyelid. Thank you for making me feel normal and not an inconvenience
R. T.
Not what i would give the name palace to. Staff were excellent but the rooms did not live up to my expectation for 5*
Facilities bar and restaurant very good.
Breakfast was one of the best i have had in any hotel.
D.
Amazing food and service. Lovely rooms downstairs. Our bedroom was a bit old fashioned and small for us really. Comfortable and clean though. Personally I would prefer dogs not allowed in hotels, accept helping dogs of course. I do think you should leave you dogs at home or don’t come to a hotel. Some just my opinion.
J. W.
Birthday surprise stay, I was greeted by a beautiful cake in the room, such a special touch. Cleanliness, great service, smiles and a feeling that nothing was too much trouble.
R. A.
Such a beautiful stay, the team is amazing , starting with Alice and her colleagues at reception desk.
They are so keen to make your stay unforgettable!
Breakfast is also a great experience with best ingredients and top service!
Would recommend without hesitation to anyone looking for a perfect treat!
C. b. B.
Great service, staff amazing and brilliant central location. I’ve marked it down because the room (112) has a very small bathroom with a big step in the middle and the sink was too high for my wife of 5’2” to reach.
E. S.
Room was lovely, good range of vegan food on the menu and the staff were all really friendly and helpful
M. N.
A special birthday treat! An awesome afternoon tea in an opulent venue. So much food we needed a goody box.
M. M.
This Hotel is incredible!!! There is a fantastic afternoon tea. I recommend a lot!!
C. B.
Good food. Had the sharing plates between 3 of us. Service was very friendly
H. R.
Unbelievable experience at The Ruben's, one not to be forgotten. I brought my friend here for a much needed afternoon tea. She is a wheelchair user and the staff made her feel so welcome. They really couldn't do enough to make her feel comfortable. They were polite and very helpful but not in a patronising way. The doorman was wonderful, (sorry but didn't get his name) he opened the doors to the next door property to enable my friend step free entry into the hotel. He even pointed out that there was an accessible washroom just down the hall.
The afternoon tea itself was outstanding!! The choice of teas were fantastic and the food served was scrumptious. We had some fabulous sandwiches including a coronation chicken with almonds, scones including a white chocolate one and desserts includinga coffee macaroon and blueberry pastry.
Needless to say that I will be returning here in the not so distant future.
A. R.
Lovely setting and a great location, but when it comes to food I was rather unimpressed. At £45 for afternoon tea, you'd expect better.
C. J.
Beautiful rooms soundproof windows walking distance to most …. 6mins walk to Buckingham Palace , 7 min walk to St James’s Park , 20 min walk to Big Ben , 30min walk to London Eye , 30 min walk to Piccadilly Circus , 5 min walk to Victoria Station… Bus tour to Stonehenge, Oxford , Windsor Caste
L. M. (.
further to my last review i would like to add that the pricing of the Bottomless Afternoon Tea priced at £75 per person does not include the extra £9.25 per person service charge so the total bill for four people was £337.00 instead of the assumed £300 .
as we were unaware at the time of the extra charge we were handing out tips to the staff but had we of known of the service charge then we wouldn't of bothered handing out the tips
S. G.
We were the only customers (table for 5) at 1500 for afternoon tea. Sandwiches and cakes well presented, good selection. We chose tea and various blends were on offer. Good attentive service throughout. Enjoyable experience.
A. C.
Beautiful Central Hotel, very attentive staff from the doormen, porters , hotel reception staff, to the waiters/waitresses in the restaurant. Always offered assistance if needed.

Brilliant afternoon tea with vegetarian and gluten free options. Fantastic service from all the staff
S. A.
Great afternoon tea staff are so helpful and friendly didn't like mulled wine swapped for champagne what could be better
A. B.
The Rubens at the Palace was the highlight of our trip to London. Everyone made us feel at home and were so helpful. I'm a little late writing this review. My mom and I came here last October. The rooms were wonderful, the view was excellent, and the food was amazing. We also enjoyed having tea one afternoon. Everyone here was so friendly and went over and beyond to make us feel like royalty. We would like to thank Sophie and Lucy for bringing us the world's best cake from the afternoon tea to our room on our last day. The hotel is just minutes from the palace, parks, and so many great sites.
We highly recommend this special place to all our friends. We can't wait to come back!
B. O.
Very good location with good transport links. Very nice and polite staff. Rooms too small and small choice of the continental breakfast.
K. T.
Staying in London ? Want a top notch customer experience across all areas of the hotel . Rubens has to be the choice .
H. S.
Beautiful afternoon tea, the food was nice and service was great. Highly recommended
l. m.
I am so happy with my stay here. Booked for a doctors appointment far from home and the staff went out of their way to make sure my stay was as comfortable and hassle free as possible. This is an old school and old fashioned hotel full of charm. And is opposite Buckingham Palace! Very much recommend.
C. K.
This is one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. Everything was excellent and the staff were great. It's a short walk from Victoria Stations, Buckingham Palace, St James Park and Green Park. Also a very pleasant 20 to 25 minute stroll to Piccadilly Circus.
F. P.
Very friendly staff, Mr Abrass showed us around can't wait to visit the new English grill restaurant with live music.
C. D.
Great Hotel with outstanding hospitality! Close to the Palace and mass transit, Recommended! Room was a tad small but you can pay for bigger I'm sure. But who stays in your room when your in London???!!!??? We were her October of 2019.
E. O.
Delicious food and great service! The honey and white chocolate scones were INCREDIBLE
L. Z.
Went for afternoon tea, view was good as you can look directly into the back door of Buckingham palace, service was good too as waiters/waitress are all friendly and attentive. But the decor was a little old/cheap?
L. S.
Delightful, comfortable and very attentive staff. A most pleasant afternoon.
K. T.
I brought my little girls here for a special afternoon tea treat. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely fantastic too. It was a really memorable experience very for the family and we will definitely come back again. Many thanks to all the wonderful staff and a particular shout out to Kirsty in the reservations team who went above and beyond to make it special for them.
A.
Went for afternoon tea. Scones and sandwiches were delicious. Hot chocolate was given instead of tea. Would go back again.
D. M.
Best hotel in London. The staff are all incredible.
W. K.
We've been here twice now both in the executive king and the Royal themed one the beds are very comfy. The staff all are excellent, never had any difficulty fulfilling any of our requests. The room service is very prompt too. One thing that I really like is that the air conditioning is individually controlled per room so you can set to the temperature you like. I'd recommend the bar also for a nice treat. They often have a singer in the evenings who is very good too.

This Hotel is top drawer!!!@ We have been twice now and it is a perfect location amazing friendly staff and we love it....

Beautiful afternoon tea, well worth the money. Selection of tea choices too. Staff, the room & generally just everything was so nice & fitting 10/10

Very old fashioned with world class service from check in until we returned to pick up our bags from the concierge well after check out. The bed was massive, so very comfortable, and the sheets were luxurious. Not a fan of rain showers but the one in our room had very good pressure. The bar is pricey but like everything there, well worth it.
C. H.
Decor is a bit much for my taste, but it's been a great stay.
H. L.
Had the royal afternoon. Atmosphere was perfect with the piano playing and we got a special treat as it was my sister's birthday! Carlota was so lovely. Muchas gracias!
S. E.
Very cozy atmosphere, great afternoon tea!

We loved this place. Great location. Very friendly and accommodating staff, both at the front desk/concierge and also bar/restaurant staff. We had breakfast included and it was very good. We also ate dinner at the English Grill, and while it was a bit pricey, the food was very good and the service was wonderful. The bar had live music some of the nights we were there. We upgraded to a larger room, and it seemed a bit small, but come on, you're in London! Why are you in the hotel room!
S.
Fantastic place my favourite hotel.Staff are simply amazing and couldn't do more.(the door man,Zoe,Adam and Jacek made us so welcomed like we are living there throughout our stay)The rooms are beautiful, clean, and the beds are just amazingly comfortable.Really good stay I always will be coming back
M. L.
Stay was great and the service exceptional. Be prepared when you check in the pictures on the website are deceiving. Once in our room with a few bags we couldn't move. Space between the bed and the wall was tight. Once we spoke to the front desk they moved us without a problem. Guest Services ( Alice ) was a delight to speak to and went above and beyond to accommodate us. It just goes to show you service is everything. London is wonderful and the Ruben made it even more special.

What you'd expect of a 5 Star hotel.
The staff were very helpful.
L. A.
Amazing setting. Attentive staff. Great food. Even gave us a little cake for our Anniversary Celebration.
A. T.
Such a fantastic hotel in an unbeatable location (right down the street from Victoria Station). The service is impeccable and the rooms are beautiful and very well cleaned with some of the most comfortable pillows and linens. The rooms were also full of premium amenities. We stayed in February and were very lucky because we booked Hamilton tickets and it was only a five minute walk from the hotel! Craig at the door was fabulous too, really made us feel like The Rubens at the Palace was our home away from home. We will definitely spring to stay here again next time we are in London. Totally worth the price!
L. S.
A lovely afternoon tea in a beautiful, traditional setting. Polite, friendly staff.
S. F.
Lovely service and such a delicious vegan afternoon tea! The scones and the vegan butter were perfect.
A. A. B.
Had afternoon tea here and had a great experience. Service was excellent, thorough, good communication and very attentive. The tea was good, scones were fresh, food was tasty. The hotel is historical and looked very interesting.
T. 9.
Absolute 5 star experience, the staff were impeccable, very knowledgable and professional. They were so polite, I just had to leave this review. They made the experience magical! 10*

Perfect afternoon tea this afternoon. Thank you so much to the lovely Abbras. He made our visit a really special experience. A true credit to your hotel ☺️☕️
H. B.
Gorgeous afternoon tea. We were served by Abbras who was very attentive and polite, he turned a pleasant experience into a wonderful one. Can’t wait to return.

No words...afternoon tea, shere elegance, great service and attention. A must at Christmas!
C. H.
Superb, staff go above and beyond with service, the food was excellent and a well kept hotel
M. W.
The food at the Curry Room was excellent. The staff, other than evening receptionist were solicitous. The room on the first floor was surprisingly quiet. The bathroom was immaculate and efficient. The space was adequate in the bedroom. Very nice indeed, will visit again soon.
A. D.
We had an amazing stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The service was outstanding and the high tea was fabulous.
M. L.
We were so sad to leave! First of all the hotel was within walking distance from everything. They found out we were there for our honeymoon, welcomed us with tea and upgraded us to a larger suite and included a dessert, rose petals and a sweet note! The hotel is a little outdated as others have said but it’s clean and the staff was so incredibly friendly and accommodating and made our experience so great that you something like that doesn’t even matter. So happy with our stay and hope we can go back one day!
M. T.
This was by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at! The service from the professional staff was absolutely amazing. Every day you come through the door you were greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. Hailing a cab outside was a real performance by the staff! The rooms were warm and homey with a modern touch, always clean and nice. Will definitely stay here again!
M. R.
Lovely experience. A perfect Christmassy afternoon tea
C. D.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, somewhat small, but manageable. The bar is nice with a good menu. There is 24h room service with food available as well. If you want slippers, you have to ask by calling reception. The staff is nice, friendly, helpful and always with a smile on their face. Location is fantastic, right across from Buckingham Palace, and a 2-minute walk to Victoria station and underground.
C. E.
Loved it. Great place for a celebration meal
Love it

Classic Double Room:
This room is very spacious and looks very luxurious, the bed is very comfortable and has lots of pillows. But the bed (comes with nightstands) is made of 2 single beds and the little crease can be annoying for some.
Has a desk for work purposes which is made of mirrors (fancy).
The bathroom has a walk-in shower and has all toiletries plus bathrobes available.
Hotel experience:
From the moment you walk in the hotel, you are welcomed by the staff and they make you to feel as comformtable as you please.
The breakfast is located on the ground floor and has a beautiful variety of food.
Also the people are kind enough to provide you with everything you need.
Personal experience:
I had a good stay after all, during the evening there were problems with the air conditioning but did not hesitate to switch my room so there wouldnt be any discomfort during the night.
Thank you to the wonderful staff and hospitality and enjoy your stay if you decide to!
C. D.
Booked for my partners birthday as had read good reviews about the place and it didn't disappoint. On arrival we told reception we were there because of my partners birthday etc, and whilst we were out they had a cake made for her and waiting in the room for when we got back with a note saying happy birthday. The room was nicely furnished and the bed was really comfy! And the new yorker bar at night had a brilliant atmosphere with live singing. Thankyou for your hospitality, and hopefully we will see you again!
C. M.
Fab champagne afternoon tea....it really was bottomless!!
F. W. M.
Simply amazing... I was personally treated to a guided tour of this wonderful establishment.
So I'm pleased to offer my recommendation, the staff were simply outstanding in every way possible.

Excellent location and the high tea is very very good. Try and grab the sofa seating facing the Buckingham palace, you’ll really enjoy being watched and people watching. The original room that we booked was very large, clean, and on the first floor. However, after dinner when we got back into the room, we realized everything smelled like BBQ. Found out our room was right next to a restaurant vent and requested for a switch. We then had to move to the forth floor and the room was wonderful, extremely spacious like the one we had originally booked but the decor was completely different, I like that the rooms are all unique. We had medication that required refrigeration and the staff brought up a small refrigerator for us immediately. Service is excellent and staff was very kind, we really can’t thank the staff enough for such wonderful hospitality and eagerness to make our stay memorable. Highly recommend!
k. k.
Booked for afternoon tea...Wow! Service was impeccable and the gluten free scones were simply the best I have ever tasted. It was a special day out for my niece and the staff went the extra mike to make it memorable for her... highly recommended. The decor and ambiance is fabulous..... the ladies loos... unbelievable!! The location is right opposite Buckingham Palace mews and just a short walk from the tube station if you’re visiting this part of London Rubens is a must 💕
I. W.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble. But - drinks slow in coming, waited 35 minutes for our lunch order and had to ask when it would be served. Lovely food when it did arrive tho my toasted sandwich was cold. Really did not appreciate one of the staff hoovering around all the tables as we ate - seriously?
N. C.
Afternoon tea. Just wonderful and attentive but not overdone service
D. S.
The professionalism, cleanliness, and location is just amazing! For starters before checking in the door man is very helpful. He gave us very useful information about a few events going on near by. Front desk was very nice and helpful as well. The room was perfect. We had a awesome view of the royal mews from the top floor. Beds were like sleeping on clouds. Breakfast was made to perfection. We couldn't have been more impressed. Definitely staying here again.
A. S.
I loved this hotel! It is worth the $!! The view of the Royal Mews is such a great sight for a tourist! The rooms (for two very tall Americans) may feel a bit snug, especially space to walk around the bed, but you won't care once you see how comfortable & plush the bed & bedding is! The room was beautifully decorated as well as the entire lobby & restaurant & bar downstairs. Very classy! What was really great was that even though it was so nice, the staff was not snobby but instead very friendly & helpful!
s. p.
Great hotel,staff were amazing
R. G.
Wonderful service. The most attentive, helpful staff I have ever encountered. The rooms were lovely, with excellent facilities. The location was great, very convenient. The entire hotel was very child friendly - the best attitude out of many 5 star hotels in many countries we have stayed at. My 7 year old daughter agrees! A special mention to Stuart the doorman who really added the final friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming polish to a terrific stay.
A. K.
The location was perfect- close to the tube and local feeling pubs around the corner. We liked that it was a short distance away from the noise and hustle and bustle of some other areas in London. Polly at the front desk was so helpful! We’d definitely stay again!
M.
Good service, lovely interiors. The food and tea was delicious.
M. P.
We took a 2 week trip of the London area + Ireland and out of all 6 of the hotels we stayed in during our stay overseas, the Rubens was the best and our favorite!! I cannot say enough about the customer service here. It is top notch. Always someone to open a door, call a taxi, help with luggage, give directions or dinner recommendations, make reservations, you name it! The doorman, Stewart made an impression on us as well as James in the dining room during afternoon tea. This was my husband's first time overseas and they made quite an impression with him! We had afternoon tea which was A+ - definitely recommend doing. The curry room was delicious! You have to try their curry. Breakfast every morning was top notch in a beautiful dining room (our favorite breakfast as well out of all 6 hotels). The room was beautiful even though you can tell it's had years of use. It was very clean and comfortable, which is what matters most to me. The hotel is in a great location. We walked all over London. We did utilize the hop on hop off bus, which has a bus stop right in front of the hotel, for 2 days but on the other days we walked or took the tube. Overall, you feel like royalty in this hotel. It's clean, the food is great, and the service is even greater. We will stay in this hotel the next time we visit London, no doubt about it!
J. D.
This hotel has an excellent location and the breakfast is amazing. The hotel view for the palace is not as astonishing as I imagined but it is still very nice 'feeling' to be next door. The transportation is also easy with metro walking distance. Servicing attitude is normal no comment.
A. B.
Amazing hotel with great service. Perfect location, right down the street from victoria tube station and Buckingham Palace. My husband and I stayed here for our first anniversary and the staff could not have been kinder! 10/10 recommend.
A. H.
We had the ultimate experience of having High Tea at The Rubens at the Palace. From the moment my best friends and I walked in, we were treated like royalty. From the gentleman opening up our taxi door to the desk staff greeting us. It was delightful. We had reservations and were seated immediately. We were on awe of everything. The maitre d was so lovely. The waitress was amazing. I had the Queen Jubilee tea, my friends has the Earl Grey and one that literally blossomed. We then had the amuse bouche, which I never had before. It was to wet our appetite for things to come. We then had sandwiches, beautiful conversations, listened to a piano player who we all just fell in love with, all had a moment where we cried a bit because of how overwhelming this experience was. It was a dream come true for the 3 of us who had been best friends since high school. We all agreed this was the most memorable moment from our trip. We were treated with such warmness. Could not recommend the High Tea more. Imagine if we were guests?!

Loved enjoyed the Afternoon Tea was amazing would visit again
M. N.
Staff were very helpful and made a lot of accommodations to make gluten free, dairy free food for us
S. G.
We had afternoon tea at the Rubens in celebration of having been there 25 years ago. Our experience then was fabulous, but our experience this week was nothing short of spectacular. Food was delicious. Ambience was intimate and quiet. Our over the top experience was really the people. The staff were wonderful - especially Lucy who ensured everything was 110%. Would definitely recommend the Ruebens.
D. B.
Very friendly staff. Great food in the English grill. Nice atmosphere. Good Full English breakfast, although it was difficult to understand what the options were for ordering.
The standard room was OK. The room was clean and had a big comfortable bed. It came in handy that there were USB charging sockets throughout the room. The bathroom was small (but also clean) with a shower prone to overflooding. We had a temporary building-construction in front of the windows and when we reported the obstructed view a solution was promised but never came. Overall a good hotel near Buckingham Palace.
C. T.
One of the best traditional hotels I have stayed in Staff and Manager obliging and attentive to small details. The service, was fantastic and bar and in room food fabulous .
Loved that the receptionist listened when she said we loved Indian food and next day was a list of good Indian restaurants was left in our room .
The manager was also the best I've met personable and conversational . When I mentioned the only thing we didn't like was the art of Prince Charles in our room he asked if we would prefer William or Harry ! On returning to our room there on our beds were pictures each with a note and little flower , extremely humorous and such a nice touch
Thank you Bastien Peyraud your a great manager .
D. R.
Great hotel! Location was perfect - just across the street from the Royal Mews and minutes to the palace. The staff was very helpful and friendly and took great care of us. Breakfast and dinner in the English grille was great. Also enjoyed afternoon tea service.
G.
Highly recommended.
Beautiful place with stellar service. Food is very good. The location is also fantastic. It is across the street from Buckingham Palace and also right next to several popular theaters. Our rooms were a little small but comfortable. It wasn't official until now - five 🌟. 😁
I. N.
Gorgeous classic hotel. Located near Victoria station and the palace, it balances them all.
Rooms are comfy, high endy and include all of the relevant appliances, while maintaining the classic front.
WiFi works very well across the hotel and the crew is very attentive.
Breakfast is very good in London standards and is served properly.
L. T.
Absolutely excellent. Stayed for one night and everything was perfect. All staff are so friendly and helpful and professional which made my stay very pleasant. Check in was very straight forward and efficient. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Better than staying in a big chain hotel, has a very grand and British feel so I think tourist would love it. Will definitely stay again. Very well located. 5 minute walk down the street to Victoria station.
B. M.
Review on my experience with afternoon tea. The menus and tea options are pretty cool as the quality and thought behind the food option including pastries . I loved the scones however the pastries looked good but I don’t like citrus in my pastries so I personally didn’t enjoy them . Their sandwiches were tasty especially coronation chicken . Their prices start from £45 you could get cheaper option else where but this place is few mins walk from Buckingham palace so guess the location justify the price .
The staff service wasn’t the best, didn’t feel welcomed however two of them were lovely . If they sense they will get a good tip I’m sure they would put more effort with their service .
The ambiance is nice also they had someone playing the piano . A lot of information on their site from menu to times and booking

Had a delightful stay here in December '17. The hotel is in a fabulous location, just down the street from Buckingham Palace, and across the street from the Royal Mews. Was able to walk to Winter Wonderland festivities at Hyde Park. Also nearby is the Victoria train/tube station. Convenient for getting around London. We very much enjoyed our twin room. The beds were comfortable, had flat screen tv with large channel selection. Rainfall shower in the bathroom was great, but the bathroom did lack ventilation. Took a while for the steam to clear for the next person. Room included A/C (not necessary in winter, but had to turn on to clear the steam from the shower), in room safe, hair dryer. Check in was a bit of a disaster. Not very smooth, and had to return 3 time to see if room was ready. Don't be hopeful for an early (prior to the posted 2:00 p.m.) check in. Not possible, for us anyway. All in all, good hotel, clean comfortable room, and great location.
M. K.
Old and not adapted to the times very well. For a huge price we got a tiny room looking out on air conditioning units, a 6 inch hole in the floor covered only with a layer of carpet, a bizarre shower in a tub too narrow to stand in comfortably and no shower curtain, so the floor is soaked with each shower. On the plus side, great location close to everything in old London, comfy bedding and pillows, great front desk staff. Would not stay there again for that kind of money.
P. N. W.
Opposite Buckingham Palace in such a prime position! Beautiful decor and amazing rooms. Restaurant food is delicious with an exciting menu. Staff are brilliant with excellent customer service standards. I thoroughly recommend this top notch hotel.
S. M.
Thank you for a lovely surprise birthday stay at 'The Rubens'. The staff were lovely and couldn't have been more attentive especially Melanie and Maisie. Melanie looked after us whist we had afternoon tea. She made us feel special and nothing was too much trouble. The birthday girl was well and truly spoilt with a complementary birthday cake and beautiful flowers. Tea was superb. Rooms were spotless as were the bathrooms. Comfy beds.Location great. Would definitely recommend this hotel . Thank you again for making the birthday so special.
D. W.
Got given a suite. Mirrors everywhere, perhaps too much. Beautiful room, marble bathroom but just wasn't quite as functional as I would have hoped. Staff were very welcoming and kind, despite the late hour, breakfast was very standard for a 4*. Location is perfect, could view the back gate to Buckingham palace from my room. Not modern at all but that is what gives it it's character. All in all a great hotel.
A. S.
Delicious food and plenty of it. Attentive, professional staff.
B. T.
Hotel is like walking into a British history book. The staff are very nice and accommodating. They took care of our bags until the room was ready. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Plus, you are minutes away from the palace and the transit stations i would highly recommend.
S.
Had afternoon tea here. Not only was the food delicious and catered to our wishes (vegan and vegetarian), the staff was brilliant. So friendly and such good service. They all seemed very happy, and i really do hope that's the case :)
We had a great experience!
The place is very cosy, red and traditional looking, so if you're looking for something classical, this is the one.
M. L.
Location is great and centrally located. Very nice decor in small bare bones room. Can barely fit our luggage in the room. Bathroom looks nice but was not planned well-rainfall shower with a half glass wall, that swings. Hard not to make a mess. Sink is small, but the faucet is maybe 1.5" from the edge of the sink bowl, making it nearly impossible to wash hands. The food we have had was quite good. The service overall is wonderful, and the staff is very friendly.
S. R.
The service was the best we have ever had in a hotel in London.
S. F.
Our favourite London hotel. So convenient close to Buckingham palace and Victoria stations. Our room was excellent, the food superb and the staff wonderful- very friendly and so helpful. Don't miss the Bbar for food, excellent dinner and open all day so perfect for an early meal before a show.
C. H. (.
The hotel was nice and the staff were lovely. Our room was too small and we got a lot of noise from the room next door. The sink tap didn't turn off properly. It's a shame as the atmosphere and pianist were excellent.
J. M.
Great service and comfortable stay!
Super friendly and accommodating staff. Rooms were tiny, but perfect for a couple of nights of good sleep. Bed was super comfortable and with the black out curtains, made for a great sleep.
Great location - right next to Buckingham palace, st James Park, and walking distance to Hyde Park, London Eye and Big Ben.
It was also next door to a brand new restaurant hub... Coffee, brunch, dinner, grocery store, you name it. All there. Made it convenient.
s. g.
The service was first class. The staff was very attentive and made us feel special. The room was very nice and clean. Location was very good. Close to the Victoria train and tube stations. Highly recommend this hotel.

Afternoon tea with bottomless champagne.
Good service, with good food.
Well worth trying amongst all the other afternoon tea venues.
B. W.
Beautiful English Classic hotel with restaurant. Bar and afternoon tea. Beautiful rooms and great service.
M. I.
Very friendly staff and good location right by the palace. Nice walk to St Giles High Street in 30 mins. Bedding very nice but mattress a little hard. Reasonable for the location and a bonus of free coffee in the morning!
J. A.
Classic and historic hotel with plush, comfortable and practical rooms. Ideally located for the West of the city, providing peace in the parks outside Buckingham Palace as well as easy access to Trafalgar Square and Westminster. The service is exceptional will stay there again.
M. C.
The hotel was fine for business traveling. It is very close to Buckingham Palace, so I did see a number of tourists staying. The rooms are really tiny - especially for an American. The breakfast was nice, and the shower/towels were high quality.
Overall I would stay again for the price.
L. V.
Great location overlooking the Mews of Buckingham Palace and the service is amazing. I feel like home. Very convenient to get the tube or train as Victoria station is just 2 mins away and So many others places just within walking distance
H. N.
Great boutique hotel with a perfect location and excellent customer service. The check-in took 5 minutes or so. Macy was great, she went above and beyond my expectation to get us a upgraded room for my family of 4. Thanks Macy! The bed was comfortable and everything is within a short Uber ride. The room is small but it offers everything I need. I will stay here again if I visit London next time.
M. L.
The hotel was just a short walk from the Victoria Underground Station making it easy to reach other parts of London and just a short walk from Buckingham Palace and other attractions nearby. Alice helped us check-in and the next day she even remembered my friend and I and asked how our day in London was and what we did. Great service , great location and great rooms. Definitely recommend.
S. B.
Came here with my friends from the U.S for their afternoon Sunday tea and it was absolutely marvelous! We didn't stay here or anything just came for their tea and it was a very beautiful tea place. They quality of the food was exceptional and the tea was top notch. Yes I will admit it is a very posh establishment!
D. G.
Very traditional hotel, opposite the Palace Mews. Slightly old fashioned interior with lots of velvet. A very short walk to the Victoria Palace theater. Close to Westminster with many, many places to eat in the area. Excellent restaurant. Finest breakfast in London.
E. T.
Delicious food and excellent service at a good price!
T. V. G.
We stayed for few nights at rubens. We booked via booking and the room we got was different and old than pictures on booking. But our experience staying there has been great because people who works there and extra services and amazing breakfast 🍳 they provide. So we decide to give it 5 stars 🌟. Thank you for great hospitality. We might visit you again.
L. S.
This was a return visit I have been several times before and have never been disappointed from the greeting by the cheerful doormen to the attentive members of staff all doing their particular job. This visit was no different the Winter Wonderland Afternoon tea was a delight we were never rushed and the food was delicious. It is certainly a treat to remember
N. M.
We had come here for the afternoon tea to celebrate baby shower. The spread and the service was excellent. The staff were very warm and attentive. Coronation chicken sandwich is outstanding.
B. W.
Our second stay at the Rubens. Located on quiet street but close to everything. Very British hotel which should be what one wants visiting London. We had a beautiful room overlooking the Mews. Excellent dinners at the Grill. Fine buffet-style breakfast. The staff are outstanding making one feel very welcome in a "home away from home". Highly recommend and would not stay anywhere else.
J. K.
While at the first day their service was extra ordinary, the rooms feel a bit old and lack the five stars elements. The carpets feel old, same goes for the bathroom and the lightening. The room wasn't made after 14h and the floors arent really sound proof. Overall - ok for London and the great location but surely not a five star experience.
W. K.
I stayed at this beautiful hotel for 2 nights last weekend (17 and 18 April). On arrival I asked if it was possible to have a room with a view and was given a lovely one in the 'Royal Wing' overlooking the Royal Mews on Buckingham Palace Road at no extra cost. The staff were wonderful and made my stay very special. The food and service was first class and I would recommend this hotel to anyone especially if you're fortunate as I was to get a very good deal with Secret Escapes. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and I slept very well undisturbed by any noise from inside or outside. The location was perfect for my trip on this occasion as I wanted to visit all the places that were in close proximity to the Palace and was able to walk everywhere very easily.
M. M.
The room was small but well laid out and clean, if a tad older. The location was great, just a quick walk from Victoria Station and Buckingham palace. What set this hotel apart in my mind though was the service - everyone there seemed genuinely interested in making sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible, nit like some other hotels where you're just someone they need to deal with. I would definitely stay again just for that.
T. L.
The staff were all so nice and accommodating. The breakfast was truly fit for a queen. The common areas are beautifully decorated and very classy. Roberto (bar tender at the New York bar in the hotel) was probably the most talented bartender I’ve ever experienced. The Leapord Bar next door is great for a night cap and some live jazz, and the BBar next door had delicious food. I would come back here in a second. ONLY disclaimer: the bed mattress was very hard, so okay if you like that sort of thing.
E. L.
The location is pretty good, you are in a pretty central place to to get to the big tourist activities and easy to get to the Victoria underground or train station. The staff is wonderful but the rooms are not worth it. Our room had wall covering peeling with threads hanging out everywhere. A hot glue gun and some scissors would have been a big difference. Our carpet looked like it had water damage around all the perimeter edges of the room and a big chunk of carpet was peeling up from the floor. It's nice not staying in some American chain but it wasn't worth the price.
J. C.
The Rubens has so many wonderful qualities:
- A very accommodating, attentive staff.
- The interior decor and exterior architecture exude sophisticated, classic luxury.
- Fantastic location and within a short walk of Buckingham Palace, The Royal Mews, and Victoria Station.
- Rooms are very nicely updated and well appointed.
We will definitely be returning in the future.

Fantastic hotel! Epitome of luxury in a boutique full of character. Top notch customer service. Great food. Great rooms. Perfect location between Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station. I'm staying here right now for my second extended stay and it is my new go-to hotel. Only downside is their milkshakes are terrible lol. It's like they just read the word and tried to figure it out and just shook some milk. I don't know if there is any ice cream in them lol! But joking aside, this place is great.
V. G.
Modern and yet cozy atmosphere. Professionally friendly service. Normal prices. Located in the heart of London, a 4-minute walk from Victoria Station, which is key to all city guests. One of the best deals for your quality stay in London's monumental monopoly...
5 stars
g. m.
Beautifully decorated. Attentive service. Location is superb as it’s away from the common masses but close enough to all the premier locations of London. Fan of Red Carnation and this property does not disappoint.
R. R. C.
Very close to Buckingham Palace and the Victoria Underground station. Front desk staff was exceptionally courteous. Rooms were nice and clean. Very little city noise leaked into the room. We couldn't get reservations for the afternoon tea, which was a bummer; however that's our fault for not planning ahead.
W. L.
Good place if you need to go to hotel
T. M.
Hotel was well located close to the Palace. The rooms are beautiful, immaculate, and very comfortable. The closest to such service I've observed was more than thirty years ago at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego and the ***sion at Turtle …
M. C.
Exquisite. Exquisite! Exquisite~👌🏾🙌🏾🍾
I stayed here for my birthday and they gave me the room view of the Palace Mews and left me champagne, fruit cheese platter with Happy Birthday message, I didn't want to leave.😭 The epitome of Luxury✓ definitely 5-star🌟 will return again.💗

Overall amazing experience!
Great service at the door and the desk.
Priscille got my girlfriend a birthday cake and Maisy got us a Hamilton poster!
The little things was what made the stay remarkable and coming back to see the lovely gifts really put the icing on the cake :)
D. M.
We had lunch in the English Grill which truly is quintessentially British. The room is beautiful with old fashioned charm whilst modern with its open windows through to the kitchens. The food was delicious and the staff were incredibly knowledge friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.
R. G.
We stayed in the Rubens for two nights over Christmas (2015) and I have to say how excellent we found the, accommodation, the general areas, the food & dining room, the bar, reception and even before we arrived the service from reservations. The service provided by the staff in particular, with their politeness smiles and always so helpful was really appreciated. Also the delightful treatment of our dog Brody and the effort made before our arrival. The hotel’s policy of keeping the pet with you at all times is most unusual and the best we have experienced anywhere. The staff all treated Brody as special, which made our stay all the more enjoyable
C. K.
I can't say enough positive things about this hotel. First of all, it's absolutely beautiful, and in a perfect location that is central to Victoria station to go anywhere, Buckingham Palace, but also quiet at night to sleep. The staff were amazing, going above and beyond for anything. Sadly, I didn't get everyone's names, but Abbas, the night manager was so kind when we ran into a problem with the toilet, and when it couldn't be fixed we were moved as quickly as they were able. The smallest thing was met with them bending over backwards to please us, which was so kind. The breakfasts were great, and service at The Library with Shane-unparalleled. The one thing is the rooms are a bit small, prior to our move, the room between the bed and the wall was quiet snug, and the TV on the wall jutted out, so if you weren't careful you would bounce off of it, so if you can, get the next level room up. Otherwise, I honestly can't see myself staying anywhere else if at all possible. The only issue I ever had here was a rude woman at breakfast who I believe challenged me to a duel...but hotels can't screen for everyone ;) Seriously though, if you want a great hotel in a great location with everything you could want. Stay here.

Close to Buckingham Palace and Victoria Street Station for tube and train. Staff was excellent. Room not so great. Pricey for what you get. With the king bed, there was little room for anything else. No place to put a suitcase, except in knee hole of vanity/desk. Room due for refurbishment. Fabric arms of chairs quit dirty. Loose fixtures in the bathroom. Since we have stayed in the area previously, we know there are better deals with the same level of service with better rooms and close to the tube and train, just not as close to Buckingham Palace.

My few interactions with the staff were great - they were polite and friendly and helpful. My room was absolutely tiny, though this might just be a European thing (I'm used to American hotels). It was fine for just me, but would have been really claustrophobic for two people. Just a foot or so of clearance on either side of a full-size bed. The blackout blinds were nice. Everything else was pretty much okay...but for the cost, which was pretty much the same as the last hotel I stayed in (the Ritz Carlton in Maui), below my expectations.
J. J.
A little dated with decoration, it seems to be an odd mix of old with modern thrown in which doesn’t really work. It took a very long time to get noticed by the staff. Of which there were several of them. Food and drinks were good and selection of cocktails were great. Good location.
J. O.
Simply amazing. Location is in the center of London, just steps away from Buckingham Palace. The rooms are of good size and very comfortable. Service is top notch, friendly and prompt. I cannot record this hotel enough to anyone staying in the city.
N. F.
We chose The Rubens for a night stay in London for our anniversary and we were totally thrilled with the decision. The greating upon arrival was warm and welcoming and the hotel itself looks elegant and sophisticated. The staff went above and beyond to provide us with the romantic night we were hoping for and cannot praise the front desk and housekeeping teams enough. We will definitely make this the first choice for the next time we stay in London. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.
B. W.
Stayed for one night, staff were excellent, professional and friendly. I’d asked asked for something before my stay and this was kindly given. Would highly recommend and will certainly stay again. Thank you.
S. C.
Had afternoon tea here and I have to say that it was simply fab. Friendly staff, great ambience and fab service. The place is so well maintained and the staff go beyond their remit to help. Highly recommended. Wash rooms are well maintained.

This review is a long time overdue. My wife and I spent two weeks in London for our 25th anniversary back in 2016 and had a fabulous time. The hotel staff was gracious, attentive and extremely helpful. They even surprised us our first night when they learned we were there for our 25th by decorating the bed (see attached picture). The room was spacious and very comfortable for our two week stay. We are planning several trips in the future to other places though London and will be staying at The Rubens when we can.
T. M.
Our room was spotless and front facing over the Royal Mews. The standard room is a tad bit small so if you're looking for the large room with a view research it a little. The rooms are very nice and all different. The staff at check in was great. Absolutely a visit worth.
T. M.
At these rates, you do not expect a room with the size and charm of a mop-closet. All members of staff were exceptional and paid so much attention to customer service. The location was perfect for site seeing and right near the on-off bus route. We enjoyed our stay.
L. A.
I would give this hotel 5 stars but the bed wasn’t very comfortable and the bathrooms are quite small. That being said, everything else about this hotel is 5 stars! Extremely friendly staff, wonderful restaurants with great food, great location! We would definitely return.
T. M.
My husband and I just returned from a amazing European vacation. We stayed at The Rubens at the Palace for a couple days last September-Oct. The hotel has a classy elegance and is conveniently located to great restaurants, shopping, Westminster Abby & Victoria train station. Good breakfast served in the restaurant.
M. M.
One of the best place. I really loved the room and the hot water tub. Honestly , the hot water tub was the best part of my stay. The staff gives their best to make you feel like home.

Went for drinks with work colleagues. Super fancy place, great drinks menu. Also had the sliders which were delicious: flavourful meat that actually tastes of beef (if not slightly gamey), brilliant bread bun and pea shoots (admittedly pea shoots are a bit 2015, but they worked well). Also had a G&T which was very good but nothing to write home about. Loved the decor and the live singing was fantastic. Only complaint would be the service felt slightly old-school judgemental, but other staff were warm and welcoming. Would return again. Expect to pay ~£10 per drink.
C. B.
We were there for afternoon tea. It was "reasonably" priced compared to Fortnum and Mason's. Wonderful and amazingly all my kids enjoyed it. The food was great. I recommend the hotel tea blend.
L. G.
This hotel has a great location! Very close to Victoria Station and close enough to walk to Hyde Park and even Oxford Street if you feel like it! Just down the road from Buckingham Palace too! We had room 212 on the 2nd floor with a view of the Royal Mews. Fairly quiet. A rather small room but perfect since we were there got only one night. There were two twin beds though these would usually be pushed together. Lots of mirrors and a wardrobe light. There was also a night light on the bathroom so you don't need to then the light on. We had a cup of tea in the bar; they are generous and give you a pot of hot water so you can have plenty of tea, although the milk pot was tiny; really only enough for two cups! Luckily at breakfast there was a lot of milk! We had the full English breakfast (minus the black pudding) as well as the continental buffet featuring yoghurt, fruit, cereals and pasties. A great stay in general!

Last sunday we were at the rubens hotel. My friend Victor and Luisa invited me for an afternoon tea.what a warm welcome! As soon as we arrived at the hotel Adrian recieved us and escorted us to the table. The atmosphere was so great attendants were friendly and brilliant. The location of the hotel is excellent too facillities are good. The three of us enjoyed our tea and the cakes. We were pleased with the service twas fantastic. In fact we will be here again on christmas day.The three of us say thank u Adrian for the courtesy too! You are such a fantastic guy👍👍👍and also to the ladies attended us👍👍👍

Room was very clean, a little small but ok. Food was also ok, a little expensive if you dont eat a big amount (we only had breakfast). The staff was very friendly and attentive, so five stars for the ladies and gentlemans who worked there during the last week! A real bummer was the cap we ordered when we where leaving to Heathrow airport. I dont think this is the hotels fault but the guy in the cab charged us 82pounds(!) for a 29mins drive (there was almost no traffic). While driving I saw that the taxometer was off, so I think he tricked us. We had a long discussion and at the end we paid him half of what he wanted, but still way too much. We drove trough london by cab and paid about 20pounds max for 30mins. So everybody who wants to take a cab to the airport: talk about the price first!
M. R. W.
Beautiful. Hotel. Great Service. Sandwiches bit crisp!
T. M.
The receptionist, Psyche Wong, was so polite and genuinely interested in what our plans were for the weekend and was very knowledgable about the hotel services and facilities. As we walk up, the cab was sitting there ready to go with our luggage already loaded. I had a double twin room and we had plenty of room.
T. M.
We were greeted most courteously and our room was ready before time. The Rubens was to be merely a quick bridge between Rome and trips to the North and South of London to visit with friends and family. Full breakfast buffet in the dining room in the morning that was great.
A. R.
Had a special birthday trip booked here for the upcoming weekend. Unfortunately I had to cancel due to the current Government advice and the staff couldn't have been nicer about it despite the stress they must be under.
I look forward to staying once all this mayhem has blown over.
F. C.
Room was lovely. However the way you are made to feel is second to none. Everyone is so friendly and they go out of their way to make you feel special from the lovely doormen to the waiters and managers. Will definitely be my place to stay in London
L. T.
Such a lovely place and the staff were wonderful.
G. W.
This place is out of this world. The staff are kind and they will do anything for you and nothing is to much trouble I would give then six stars if I could.i will be coming again.
M. M.
Dog friendly luxurious hotel a stone's throw from The Palace. Staff and service is calm, appropriate and discreet. Beds very comfortable. Live music and cocktails before a sumptuous dinner.
A. D.
This hotel bent over backwards for us on a 'latermoon'. Very happy with them, they were very nice. The food was great (teatime + breakfast) and the hotel is in a perfect location for touristy things.
The hotel brings a lot of history to the area - understand that. The rooms are very nice, but far from modern.
L. M.
Friendly staff, comfortable beds, large screen TV, reliable wifi, and good selection of tea and coffee in the room. Unfortunately the cramped, cold, and somewhat noisy rooms (had to change room mid-stay) don't make it a good hotel to sleep well.
J. s.
Me and my wife stayed here for 4 nights. We both loved the room and far warning the room is European size. The service was excepitional from the door man to the concierge. My wife and her friends loved High Tea searved in the hotel. The location is great 5 min from the palace and 15 min to the Eye of London.
T. S.
The rooms are well appointed, and the service is exemplary. Breakfast was included with our room rate, and we loved the quality of the food and level of service that we received. Everything about our stay was truly fantastic.
T. M.
We stayed at the Rubens over August bank holiday weekend in the Royal Suites and it was absolutely amazing. On arrival the staff were really helpful and friendly and nothing seemed too much. The hotel has an excellent location next to Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station. Definitely would recommend it highly.
J. R.
Beautiful spot and the best customer service I have ever had, and excellent food as well. We stayed over the New Year’s Holiday. It was a trip we will never forget.
V. B.
A lovely afternoon tea experience. The service was great, the food was delicious and the location is perfect. We will absolutely return.
J. H.
This is a wonderful hotel, with very fine rooms and public areas, excellent food and afternoon tea, and decorated very handsomely as well. But over the four days that my wife and I stayed here, what mattered more were the staff: The servers at the restaurant who were particularly skilled at conversation and at carving up fish; the Spanish woman who served us afternoon tea and shared with my pregnant wife that she too had become pregnant recently; the front desk staff who took care of us when my wife accidentally destroyed one of her 120V hair appliances with 240V British receptacles; the breakfast staff who were always very pleasant and accommodating; and the guest managers who sent us champagne and tiramisu upon learning that we were there for a “babymoon”.
I don't visit London frequently, so it would be difficult for me to make comparisons to other hotels, but this one was truly something special.
G. D.
Just come back from celebrating my birthday there the hotel is fantastic the staff were very nice the room was very nice couldn't fault it , I had lots of extra things a cake , strawberries with chocolate rose petals it was lovely . The breakfast was lovely to lots of choice I will definitely be going back it also has a great location .
A. G.
Directly across from Buckingham palace. Friendly, helpful staff. The hotel has a great classical character and charm and feels very cozy. Safe location with many amenities and two blocks from Victoria underground station.
A. B.
This is our 2nd Time at the Rubens and if you’re looking for a soulless Hotel or staff that don’t care or try to help you then please DON’T go to the Rubens
But if you want a Hotel that’s full of charm and staff that will go that extra mile then here’s the hotel for you .
Check in was Fast and efficient, and the girls at reception helpful
The fantastic Room we had was a Royal Room well worth the little extra cost if you can afford it, made my wife feel like Royalty.
Our evening Meal in in the Old Master’s and very good it was, again attentive waiters Daniel was so helpful , plenty of choice and being a buffet style you can have as much or little as you wanted I even saw one guest go up for more.
The Bar was a great place to unwind and if you’re into it, there’s a great long window to do people watching, again what can I say great helpful staff.
The hotel is close to Buckingham Palace in fact our room looked over the Royal Mews and about a 5 min walk from green park underground.
Would I go again ? I am booked to go back in February with 2 friends who wish to sample the fantastic hotel group we are always talking about
T. M.
Rubens at the Palace proved to be the best hotel experience I've had in 50 years of much fun as well as business travel. The room was large by European standards. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel totally at ease and comfortable. You are made to feel special (almost Royal) and cost becomes irrelevant.
P. R.
Last time I'd stayed at a Red Carnation Group hotel I really enjoyed it, and so too this time, maybe a decade or two later! They really make the effort to make the guest feel the stars, I've stayed in many hotels around the world and all over London, and the Rubens had some of the most attentive staff of any. Always a fully stocked reception and concierge desk, one or more doormen, etc., and all seemed eager to make my life as a guest easier. I had a room in the Royal Wing, which I guess are premium rooms, the corridor to it was beautifully sumptuously decorated in fabrics and mirrors, and the room was well appointed, if not particularly large (as one expects with London and Paris, rooms are generally small, perhaps the fitting of en suite facilities to previously more generously sized rooms caused this in the older, established hotels?). The TV was hidden in a pop up unit, which was great as it didn't intrude on the room. Only a small TV, and the interactive system was a little old fashioned, but I wasn't there to watch TV. Location is superb, close to Buckingham Palace and the wonderful Royal Parks (which pretty much connect Westminster with Kensington, and are all wonderful). Would stay at this hotel and chain again.
B. H.
Very comfy, well located, nice staff and very good food. The crushed red velvet in the bar can be a bit much but it’s in keeping with the hotels style. One of my favourite places to stay in London, particularly with rooms overlooking the Buckingham palace stables.
I. K.
Had our office Christmas party here, bed room was on the small side but tastefully decorated. Service at the front desk was great and the food for the party was delicious. Only downside was the view out of the bedroom window.
c.
I’ve stayed here a few times and each time has been great.
Staff are fantastic, great for couples and due to location I’d say one of the best hotels in London without paying the top end price tag.
Staff were really helpful and friendly
T. M.
We arrived during a downpour to a very friendly welcome and check in. I chose a room looking across at the royal news which was very comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was up to a very high standard. The Rubens experience is a must for all Rotarians visiting London.
B.
Very nice place to relax and have high tea after some sight seeing in Westminster. Perfectly located across from the beautiful Buckingham Palace. There are three seats looking out into the Palace through the window.
I should mention the tea and scones are unmatched.
T. M.
Each and every person that we came into contact with was friendly, helpful and courteous. The Pre-Theatre Dinner is a great idea, you can enjoy a wonderful early Dinner in preparation for an evening at the Theatre. Definitely would stay at Rubens at the Palace on our next trip.
J. H.
Location is right in the heart of London... within walking distance to Buckingham Palace and other local attractions. Rooms are nice and well kept. Service was amazing and very accommodating.
A. G.
Staff were very friendly gave us all the help we needed finding the restaurant. We sat down waiting for the restaurant to open where we had some drinks which came with complanetary olives and a few crisps (lovely) and when the restaurant opened we paid for the drinks and took our drinks into the restaurant where we were asked where we would like to sit then they explained how the buffet worked and asked if there's anything we need.
They carried our plates to our table and made sure we were constable every step of the way.
We hadn't anticipated it to be so posh so we had turned up in hoodies which to our embarresment was very under dressed but the staff made no comments and when I mentioned our dress code they were very friendly about it saying its cold weather it doesn't matter how you look as long as you're happy which was very very pleasing.
Couldn't have got better service very very impressed will be returning. Thank you very much for such a wonderful experience
T. B.
The Rubens is a stately hotel with convenient access to the Victoria tube station. It is a 5 minute walk to Buckingham Palace and entrance to the mews is just across the street. The staff are all very courteous and helpful. The continental breakfast offers a wide spread of food for a price that reflects the decor (inespensive food options are nearby and easily accessible though). I would stay again in a heartbeat as long as I had the income to afford the rooms.
S.
Classic luxury hotel in the heart of London. I particularity liked the friendliness of the staff and the amazing bar. Looks awesome, great drinks, service and various snacks offered. Coming back.
J. B.
The service could have been improved. We are vegetarian and on the 3rd attempt they still put chicken in one of them. Also the quality of some of the sandwiches were slightly dry. Nevertheless we had a nice time, but I doubt if we would make a return visit.
C. H.
Beautiful hotel with such lovely friendly and very helpful staff. They all make you feel so welcome.excellent breakfast and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant.very relaxed and chilled out bar for evening drinks..
A. M.
Lovely hotel, nice looking place in a good area. Staff were very helpful and the room was very comfortable, but we did have a Manuel moment when I asked the bar tender what rums he had and he said he was from Greece which made me chuckle.
R. A.
Very nice experience in this historical hotel. If you are looking for some modern hotel this is not for you. The Rubens offers nice rooms, with a real identity. Great service, even when I needed a particular service. A place with a real soul.
H. C.
Excellent location, 1 block to Victoria Station, across the street from the Royal Mews. A few short blocks walk to Buckingham Palace. Accommodations were lovely and clean. Excellent staff, very attentive and helpful. Definitely recommend, and would stay here again.
e. w.
Stayed at Rubens many times. My kids refer to it as "home:. Gorgeous "library" dining room. Concierge best in London. Fabuous location.
T. M.
The Rubens is an interesting hotel within walking distance of Victora station and Buckingham Palace. The location was great for walking and public transportation to all the sites and eateries. The afternoon tea was a great way to finish off my afternoon after my visit to the palace which is close by.
M. V.
An awesome location right near Buckingham Palace. I love the enterior architecture of this hotel. It's well maintained and I am glad it is so that folks like myself can appreciate and admire it. The service at the hotel is excellent. Thanks for the lovely London experience.
J. M.
Nice place to stop by in the restaurant for some coffee, attentive service and quiet so recommend if you need to meet someone. Good selection of wines, coffees etc, didn't eat there but looks quite expensive although it is an interesting building
p. h.
The staff were outstanding particularly Aaron Zoe and Erica . They each could not do enough for us .
J. L.
It was nice to stay at the Rubens. The housekeeping staff did an exceptional job. The only downside was the room was a little too small and very old fashioned.
K. J.
Staff is very helpful for planning your days and transportation. Get the triple fried fries at the restaurant, they are not on the menu. No fridge so don't bring back leftovers that need one.
A. H.
Fantastic place, great food in the curry room, and the staff were 1st class.
J. P.
Fabulous hotel overlooking Buckingham Palace. Sip a cocktail or a sumptuous high tea and watch the royal carriages come and go from the Palace. A very warm and cosy hotel with great traditional English dining and comfortable rooms. The perfect Christmas hotel.
k. a.
Rooms clean good service love it
S. C.
This is the third time we have stayed at the rubens. We stayed here in September for my husband's 60th birthday. Excellent as always the staff were amazing nothing is to much trouble. Service and food was first class. We stayed there for three nights and had a great time.
J. T. w.
This hotel is for some one who wants to stay in an old nostalgic hotel. It’s all wood so you hear every step. Bathrooms are quite small so wouldn’t recommend for old people. Staff are quite nice and the location is excellent near Victoria and the nova center.
T. M.
Our 3rd visit to The Rubens at The Palaceit really is a wonderful place to stay. We asked for it to be vacuumed and cleaned again but I think our idea of clean and their idea of clean is very different. Every person was treated with great respect. We always felt safe in the Tube & walking.
S. N.
I have to give this place a 5*. I took my mum to the afternoon tea and it was her first time going and my second time. The Afternoon tea manger Melaine was absolutely amazing. She made us feel and home and really look after us. We enjoyed our experiance so much that we definitely go back. Thank you to the afternoon tea team for looking after us.
S. P.
This place is such a gem. I love going to the cafe/restaurant area for a quiet cozy herbal tea. Very relaxing. Tea pots are around 5-6 pounds each, so not for someone who does not want to spend that much on a tea.
B. B.
We had high tea after a tour of Buckingham palace. The food was excellent (in fact we could not finish all the cakes and had to have a take out) and we even got free drinks as we had to wait a few minutes at the bar. Highly recommended.
M. J.
What's not to like, treated like royalty, food and service are amazing.
D. G.
Patrick at the front desk was so nice and helpful. The food was delicious and the staff was just so friendly. Great location! Room was a great size and the bedding was so comfy and fluffy
D. P.
The Rubens is in a great location for exploring the classic London sites. The hotel staff is professional and courteous. The rooms are well appointed but traditional. They can be incredibly small though depending upon the room you're provided.
B. K.
Stunning, elegant traditional English but not stuck in time. Truly excellent service. You might catch a glimpse of the Queen exiting Buckingham Palace... Her private entrance is right across from the hotel's tea room!
M. D.
I attended The Rubens at the Palace to view two of the smaller sized function rooms for hire. The staff were very very friendly and helpful. The rooms look very well decorated and maintained and had a luxury feel.
P. P.
Superb restaurant although a little pricey for food and drink but full of splendid grandeur, just beside Buckingham palace. Worth the money and the staff have a professional attitude to ensure you are completely happy with your visit.
S. H.
A wonderful hotel with excellent staff who went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The best location and as central as you can get for all the sights in the great city of London. I look forward to my next visit. 10/10.
M. B.
We only had a coffee here, a special one. Certainly reconmendable. Friendly staff in a surprisingly crowded bar. Prices were as expected this close to Buckingham Palace. Try to avoid this place when you are alergic for dust though, there are many carpets triggering the allergy.
S. M.
I had a wonderful time at The Rubens at the Palace. The location is amazing, a quick walk to Victoria Station, a quick walk to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and so much more. The staff was phenomenal and the room was very nice and clean.
P. K. J.
Coming to London for the first time, we wanted to experience the afternoon tea and we picked this place. While overall it was good experience, it didn't result in an unforgettable experience mainly because of so so ambience (at least from what I was expecting from an expensive afternoon tea place)
C. D.
Rustic and quaint hotel. It's real charm is not the old architecture and history across from the palace, but in the great workers and staff that attend to your every need. It is far from modern luxury, but the accessibility of the location and services are hard to beat. For the money, this is one of your best values in a short stay.
C. M.
Lovely and beautiful place that surely treats you as royalty. The doorman is very kind and helpful, he assist us upon entering the hotel. He carries our entire luggage and welcomes us with a smile.
K. R.
Theatre Meal Review
Stately Home-Style surroundings and doormen that call you 'Madam'. The Rubens really is a lovely old fashioned place in the heart of London.
Its pre-theatre menu (a buffet with wine) was reasonably priced, not rushed, and the vegetarian risotto really was moreish and better with every bite. And the house wine was fresh and went down so well with the generous portions.
There was enough space between tables to feel like your conversations were private. The waiters were discrete but alert.
The theatre menu won't win culinary awards, but it really is a great place to take a break from the hustle and bustle outside, before catching a show or two.
N. M.
Had wonderful service from the moment we got to the front door. They were super helpful in explaining what services we had and what to do. The room was very nice and the food in the English Room was very good.
C. S.
The ambiance is truly welcoming and relaxing with modern and classic decor. Definitely a priceless experience. The foods are really delicious and full of flavours as well as the tea. The service is surely top notch and the staffs are all friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place to all travellers out there.
J. R.
We went here for afternoon tea. The service we initially received was good but we were then left waiting over half an hour for our food (other tables that arrived after us were given their food before us). After we told them we had been waiting for a while they came with our food within minutes. As afternoon teas go, it was ok.
l. b.
Had afternoon tea here. It was excellent. Staff were so helpful and food was delicious. We were running to a tight timescale and they could not have done more.
B. M.
Stayed here for my wife's 40th, lovely place with very attentive and helpful staff. Breakfast is amazing as is the location, very central to lots of major landmarks.
F. R.
They Rubens is a 5 star hotel that sits right across the street from Buckingham palace and especially the Mews. It is very convenient to Victoria station and to all the attractions great walk around the city from here.
K. G.
The whole experience was fantastic! The cakes and sandwiches were to die for! And the service was excellent! So friendly, well worth going to and the view of the palace just across the road just made it perfect! 😁
A. F.
Best afternoon tea experience I've had so far. Satisfying selection of both sweet and savoury as well as wide range of tea options. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Great service.
N. S.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location for visiting tourists. Bathroom is the only issue where the flush on the toilet is quite tricky and the shower is open so water sprays all over when it is used.
K. J.
Wonderful hotel to stay. Maisy, Polly, Tom and all the staff are to be commended. True hospitality. I was travelling alone but never felt lonely. Thank you x
S. H.
This is an amazing hotel very close to Victoria station in London. Once there, you feel like trapped on 18th Century. Walls are made of fabric and sheets have the R from Ruben's hotel broided on gold.
The beds are amazing and rooms are quiet. The breakfast included is very high quality.
H. B.
Stayed here for four nights in August 2017 as part of a tour and the experience was wonderful. The staff are very helpful and we especially liked the restaurant where we had breakfast daily.
D. S.
What an amazing hotel. Great location and superb service. The staff at the Rubens are extraordinary. Loved the full english breakfast. Maisy at the front desk took great care of us as did John at concierge and especially Razvan at the bar.
G. P.
Excellent hotel, well located near the palace. Very helpful and professional staff. The breakfasts were also 5-star.
T. R.
Did the high tea. Loved it. Food fantastic. Super staff. Excellent and appropriate live music. Never thought I'd pay that much for tea! Worth everything it cost for the 3 of us.
A. M.
We had tea there while waiting for a our friend to get off from work. The staff was so amazing and fantastic. They checked our luggage for us and our coats. The concierge made small talk with us while we waiting till tea opened at noon. We were blown away with the delicious house blend tea, sandwiches, and scones. We were not rushed through tea and even invited to help ourselves to the candy bar afterwards. Seconds of anything were offered and while we did not need dietary changes, they were offered to guests around us based on needs and preferences. We couldn’t have asked for a better first day in London. They even offered to keep our luggage the rest of the day for us while we went sight seeing until our friend could meet up with us. The service was just fantastic. Thank you and your staff!
D. N.
Perfect place to stay. Great food, comfortable rooms and the best staff ever! High tea and a proper English breakfast.
R. D.
The surroundings were magnificent and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. All In all, a brilliant experience. Thank you to all concerned for making our stay so special.
M. S.
Not a bad experience but not the best.
Nice food.
I. M.
Excellent customer care and all the restaurant experiences were incredible - we visited the main restaurant for dinner and breakfast, the Indian restaurant as well as the high tea. All exceptional. Definitely highly recommended!
J. F.
Lovely old hotel practically on the door step of Buckingham Palace. Typical smaller room as expected in London, but well appointed, clean and neat.
N. R.
Spent our 30th Anniversary at the Rubens, amazing accommodations, helpful, courteous, professional staff, amazing food at the restaurant, breakfast and dinner, fabulous drinks and nibbles at the bar. Definitely recommend.
果.
Often imitated but never bettered, the Afternoon Tea is as British as a wet summer. We do it best and The Rubens does it better than most.
Relaxing in the Palace Lounge, overlooking the Royal Mews and watching the guardsmen and the horse drawn carriages coming and going, I was reminded of Samuel Johnson (1709 -1784) who said “when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life”. Positioned in the heart of London and the closest hotel to Buckingham Palace, The Rubens with its tradition and patronage, whisks you to a bygone age and, for a few hours, you too are treated like royalty.
We came for afternoon tea and did not want to leave. We enjoyed every second, including the short time we spent in the Cavalry Bar.
Dominic, South African born, looked after us and recommended the Rooibus (roy-boss) a black tea cultivated in the Western Cape Province; it was an excellent choice, very refreshing with a distinctive, slightly nutty taste. We were also encouraged to sample the Rubens Blend, a fusion of Indian and Chinese black teas unique to the hotel and just as delicious. A wonderful ambassador for the hotel, Dominic also spoke warmly about the 12 Apostles a sister hotel in Cape Town; which is now on my bucket list.

The exterior, the appearance and the impression that the Ruben's gives off was what drew me to it. I went in out of curiosity. I work nearby and I'm always looking for places to take clients, friends or family that different or original. The sort of places they might not been to before. I was hoping the Ruben's might to be one of them. I didn't eat or drink or stay overnight at the Ruben's but judging by my brief, but positive, visit I know it's somewhere I will do in the future.

Room was a little small, but nice. Room had no AC running when we got in. Located extremely close to buckingham palace. Concierge was very good.

This place is really old school. It was nice to see the palace right across the road but not much to look at. very nice to have porters to take luggage and open the door. Remember us by name every time which is impressive in itself.

Location, location, location. You're right in the center of victoria. I can use the "tube" to pretty much anywhere.
The hotel itself is pretty old. The lift is tiny. And the hot water is a little tough to control.
M. D. W.
Similar to The Charing Cross Hotel (lots of English character and charm); I recommend to stay here for the peace and quiet atmosphere - away from the hustle and bustle but very close to what London has to offer.

Coming to London for the first time, we wanted to experience the afternoon tea and we picked this place. While overall it was good experience, it didn't result in an unforgettable experience mainly because of so so ambience (at least from what I was expecting from an expensive afternoon tea place)
