Reviews of The Villa Kensington
Staff were excellent and attentive. Rooms are small and a little older, but still clean and comfy. Excellent value for a great central location - less than 5 minute walk to the Gloucester Road tube station. There’s also restaurants and stores by the tube station. Area is clean and safe.
Really convenient location, only two blocks away from tube station. Within walking distance to Imperial College and the surronding museums, and within ~30 minutes of train ride to any major attractions in the city. The hotel staff are super nice and really helpful. The rooms are small, but they will do the job if all you look for is a bed plus breakfast. The neighborhood is also quite quiet during night, despite being a really vibrant one in the day.
Spent 6 wonderful days here in November 2014. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was cozy and comfortable. I felt quite safe and taken care of. I was near Gloucester Tube station which took me wherever I needed to go. Planning a return trip and will definitely book here first.
The WiFi was either painfully slow or unreachable. Make sure to book directly with the hotel to get breakfast included in the price, as it's not really worth paying extra for. Overall the hotel is good value for money though.
Room is reasonably large and very comfy for 2 of us. Would be nice if they provide a mini fridge, or have some ice making facilities, then it would deserve 5 stars... staff are very friendly
Great hotel! Very nice, clean, and helpful staff. Great and safe area too, right next to the underground at glaucester road and one of my favorite pubs, the Stanhope arms! I would happily stay there again.
Stayed two nights here in Feb 2015. Though a bit pricy compared with hotels in rest of the country, it is at the prime location indeed. Five minutes' walk to the tube station. Restaurants including nandos and Motel (burger place) are within easy reach.
Staff are attentive and friendly.
Only complaints are that the small room and the broken heating.
Pretty close to the tube trains and a good place to stay for tourists who won't be in the room that much. The beds are pretty comfortable, rooms are clean, and there's a tv woth channels if you chose to watch. There's breakfast also. Yogurt, cereal, toast, muffins, fruit, juice, pastries, boiled eggs, and english muffins with meat and cheese.
Beds are a tad firm, but still comfy. The A/C in the room kept turning itself off at night. The breakfast was pretty carb-heavy, only proteins were hard boiled eggs and deli ham.
The room was slightly run down & showed signs of wear and tear. They also don't operate the lift from midnight until 7am. Overall, for a one night stay, the hotel was sufficient.
Just a quick stop for one night only check in 15:00 check out 12:00 (brill)
friendly greeting on arrival.. clean & tidy rooms.. although shower in room 304 needs some attention to (sliding doors doesnt sit properly?? )
No noises either outside or in
Breakfast continental... fresh & plenty & T/coffee too..
Taxi to Royal Albert Hall (Black cab of the street)... £6-ish one way.. fab
couldn't ask for any thing more ..
Nice hotel! Stayed 1 night. The room was small and cozy with everything you need. It was cold in the room when I checked in, then I just turned on the conditioning system.
Location is perfect, right near Gloucester metro station.
Lovely hotel, close to tube. Simple breakfast but lovely coffee.
Only problem was the pillows were hard.
AMAZING location for a good price , wifi and staff are also good. Highly recommended if you just need a place to crash. Just get your own toothbrush cause they don't provide any kits.
Great Hotel, service ok and rooms are clean. However, breakfast isn't the best and the wifi is slow as hell.
Very clean , cosy and friendly and helpful staff. Really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely come back
Our stay far exceeded our expectations. Quick check in, free wi-fi, quiet room, lovely shower. Will definitely stay there again
Loved the room! Great price! Mediocre breakfast, but there are so many options around! Perfect area to stay.
Excellent location, comfortable room but no fridge. Not cook breakfast option.
Very good location. Basic but clean rooms. Basic breakfast. Good price.
Stayed on 6th Dec 17 and was impressed with cleanliness, facilities and location near Gloucester Rd tube
Stayed here for 1 night after watching James Arthur at the royal Albert hall staff very friendly ideal location for the Albert hall and other attractions. Room very nice for our 1 nights stay hopefully we will visit again on our next visit to London.
Nice hotel. Good location. Clean. Modern. Lovely breakfast
Very good and clean excellent location help full of stuff I love to stay again In my next trip to London
Good value, great location. The internet speed was a disappointment - keep in mind if high speed is a must for you.
Nice staff, great location, clean but the bed was lumpy.
Great location. Friendly staff. Basic but clean room.
Good hotel, no particular frills but good service and nice room.
Very nice hotel. Great price and fantastic location.
Perfect for a couple of days in london within a good area and close to a subway :)
Nice small hotel close to 3 metrolines
Okay nice area but elevator broken and fan in bathroom is really loud
Stayed for 1 night in a triple room(94). Great location, staff helpful. Room was clean, beds comfortable, lighting not very good, would benefit a full length mirror and light above the mirror on dressing table. Shower amazing, very hot. Only downfall was a constant banging noise early morning which kept us awake and breakfast was suspended due to covid but plenty of places to eat around the area.
Friendly staff, decent size for a hotel in London
Great hotel
Cheap and cheerful. Poor power in shower and really small room
Great location. Very friendly and helpfulll staff.
Highly recommend! Friendly staff and ideal location!
Good price, location and breakfast
Good basic hotel at a good location.
Nice, clean, very close to metro
Friend stayed here on visit, acceptable
Well nice
*Location*: excellent! Short walk (< 5 mons) from Gloucester Road Station on Jubilee line that goes to Heathrow terminal 2,3 on one side and King's Cross on the other
*Cleanliness*: can't ask for more
*Service*: staff is very helpful
*Downside*: no breakfast. Have kettle tea/coffee in room though
Great hotel for the price
Clean. OK.
Clean friendly staff
Excelent price/quality ratio.
The right place to stay for an holiday!
Staff is awesome!
Nice
Linen delivery
Great location, good welcome and breakfast. The typical London building, however, has limited space and should be reviewed for several things: very old elevator, it rained in the breakfast room (promptly set up with buckets and rags), bad-smelling air heating in the room, sloping floors (the first day it feels like you're seasick..).
Another flaw: the cleanliness of the room. Upon arrival it was in excellent condition, but during the 5-night stay the carpet and bathroom were never vacuumed. The service only consisted of making the bed and changing the towels. Even the supply of soaps was completely absent, 2 bottles of shampoo and 2 of shower gel + 1 bar of soap for 5 days for 2 people (even when left empty.. they were never replaced!!!!)
For the rest, a good compromise between location-quality-price.
I found our room to be small, with no room to move around with two suitcases. The bedding wasn't great.
Continental breakfast wasn't very extensive. Pastries in bags. Not a lot of choice.
Otherwise, it's a great location in a very quiet neighborhood where you feel safe, with a metro station and restaurants nearby.
The hotel is in a great location; a quiet residential street but less than 5 minutes walk to Gloucester Road tube station. The hotel staff are all very welcoming and helpful. The single rooms I have stayed in have been well equipped, have excellent modern bathrooms and plenty of space for the large amount of luggage I travel with. They also have excellent lighting and multiple electric hot points for charging cameras, phones etc. There are plenty of healthy options at the buffet breakfast and there are tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. I have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the past six years and always look forward to returning.
Very clean and elegant hotel in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of London! A few minutes walk from Hyde Park and the natural history museum. Good breakfast, very kind staff and in addition many of them also speak Italian!
Excellent location, very close to the metro and in a quiet, beautiful and pollution-free neighborhood, with shops nearby.
Clean, hot shower with water pressure.
Spacious room.
Basic breakfast with friendly staff, as well as at reception.
On a trip to London with two children aged 7 and 8, I spent 3 nights in this hotel: great! Very warm welcome. Very quiet hotel, very good breakfast and the staff are very, very friendly! I will definitely come back and I will not hesitate to recommend it.
It is an ideal hotel for visiting London, very central and there is also a metro station (Gloucester Road) three minutes away. Clean and very quiet, good breakfast and excellent treatment from all the staff.
We spent a week in August 2016 in this quiet hotel. The truth is that we were only there to sleep and have breakfast; London has so much to see and do ;-)
It is located a few meters from a tube station, so it is ideal for commuting and in a moment you are anywhere in the city. We had a large, family room, on the ground floor. Very correct, with enough space and with the essentials; the bathroom is new.
The only thing I didn't like was the breakfast, little variety and always the same. Better to have breakfast in any of the thousands of places throughout London. The quality/price/location ratio: unbeatable.
(Translated) Great price performance for London. Bathroom very small but super clean as was the room. Very helpful staff. Any time

Super Preis Leistung für London. Bad sehr klein aber super sauber ebenso das Zimmer. Sehr hilfsbereites Personal. Jederzeit wieder
Perfect hotel to get to know London, the metro is very close and with many pubs and fast food places. Be careful at night, be careful with the thieves, they wanted to rob us right at the hotel door, be very careful.
Nice place to visit London, close to the Victoria and Albert tube, Natural History and Science Museum. The room is not too big and the breakfast is rather enough to survive...
Well located, quiet area, very small rooms, not too clean. Very weak breakfast
If what you want is to sleep in a comfortable, simple, well-priced and clean place. This is the hotel
This hotel is a three star budget hotel located a few minutes walk from the Kensington museums, that being the natural history museum, The science museum and the V&A museum. It’s also a couple of minutes walk to Gloucester Road tube station.
I managed to pick up a couple of nights here mid week for £65 per night and, because I booked direct, complimentary continental breakfast was included in the price.
I was greeted warmly at reception and although it was before noon and check-in time is 3 pm the guy on reception said he would endeavour to get my room available ASAP and would store my suitcase while I had a look around the area. He also offered to call me when my room was ready, which turned out to be 12:30 pm. So very impressed with that.
The room itself (406) had relatively modern fixtures and fittings. I’d booked a single room, so it had a comfortable single bed with decent quality linens. The room is modest in size but without feeling particularly cramped, not one you’d want to spend much time in but when you’re out all day and really want somewhere to shower and sleep it’s perfectly adequate. The room has tea and coffee making facilities, a small but sharp and clear TV, hairdryer, writing desk and chair, wardrobe with mini safe inside (the mini safe isn’t screwed down, so partially defeats the object of having one). Four ceiling spotlights make the room quite bright, this is complimented with a bedside lamp and a flexible reading lamp, so reading in bed isn’t an issue. The room has Aircon. The complimentary WiFi is a bit slow by today’s standards but useable.
The bathroom is compact, modern but perfectly serviceable with a rain shower. Shower gel, shampoo and soap are provided (but disappointingly in single use plastic tubes). A modest sized bath towel was provided but no hand towel.
For those light sleepers you could clearly hear people in other rooms and the windows are not double glazed. That said it’s on a relatively quiet side road so I didn’t hear much noise and got a good nights sleep.
The continental breakfast is served in the basement in a decent sized room and contains the usual fare e.g. cereals, pastries cold meat and cheese. Coffee and juice is also available and a water cooler is available for complimentary use in reception 24/7. As a complimentary item the breakfast was perfectly adequate, however, the normal price is £7 which in my opinion is too high when, for instance, The Hub offer a similar Breakfast for £6 which includes hot bacon, sausage and scrambled egg.
From an accessibility perspective, the hotel has a lift but I think it would’ve been touch and go if a wheelchair could fit through the door of the room I had. Prospective guests with mobility issues should check direct with the hotel to ensure their needs can be met.
In many ways this is the Ronseal of hotels, it does exactly what it says on the tin. All the basics are there, the staff are pleasant and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and clean. I would certainly stay here again if I could get it for a similar price.
Very friendly staff, very spacious rooms, we would love to come back
Hotel with a good location, very complete breakfast and 24-hour service!!
Prime location in beautiful Kensington. Quiet and close to the subway. Spacious 3-bed room and a good breakfast for the money. Affordable accommodation!
Small rooms, very tasty breakfast, good location
Great value for money, great location near the subway!
Excellent, comfortable and well located.
Old and classic..and it has a bidet in the bathroom
Acceptable for a stay in London.
The staff is really friendly
(Translated) Nice place come on

Bel posto dai
The outside of the hotel looks very nice but the same can’t be said about the inside. The rooms were tidy but looked quite outdated and smelled musty. Worse of all, there is NO PARKING at the hotel, and I received a 120£ parking ticket for parking right in front of the hotel at night when you can’t see the tiny sign that says you can’t park there after 830am.
Edit: again, the parking situation should be addressed, and the rooms were quite disappointing as well. The service was indeed great and I will increase my rating simply because there was very friendly people there.
We stayed in August 2019 for five nights. The breakfasts were excellent and included in the tariff when booked direct (tip, book direct with the hotel to get breakfast included - don't use a booking site) The room was small and the bed a bit hard but the location is great. Close to the Gloucester road tube station. Recommended.
My wife, I and another couple stayed 3 nights August 2017, The reception was warm and welcoming. Staff were very polite and helpful. Close to Gloucester Road underground and various restaurants. Most important though is that the rooms, although somewhat small and crammed, were very clean, quite, had an AC and a window . Wi-Fi was strong. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and catered for all tastes. Value for money. Will definitely not hesitate to return.
