s. g.Such a beautiful location in the heart of London. Everything is so accessible in the area with the Southbank less than a 10 minute walk away. The hostel itself is very clean and lovely staff available to help when needed !!!! Very recommended can’t wait to come back :)

The receptionist came all the way to the 3rd floor to drop me and even carried one of my bags. Thank you for this.

Location couldn’t be better. Everything was close.
There were some occasions where there was no toilet paper, but that was fixed quickly.
Breakfast experience for hostel was amazing! It actually surprised me when I saw that breakfast was included in our stay. It was fulfilling enough to go explore the city.
I read some previous reviews about noise from the trains, and that really didn’t bother us. The beds were comfortable enough to fall asleep and not hear any outside noise. In our room we had large adapter as well so that made charging our devices very easy.
It was my very first trip to London and I hope to travel there again 😍

T.I really enjoyed staying here. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They go above and beyond to accommodate you. There is a bar directly underneath the hostel where a lot of the hostel patrons hang out, along with some locals coming in. It's a great way to meet people and socialize while getting recommendations from locals. The hostel offers free breakfast which is amazing, especially for how affordable the stay is. They also offering free printing, towels, hair dryers, locks, luggage scales and so much more. They truly make your stay pleasant and I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in London. The location is also great. It's very close to Waterloo undergeound station and within walking distance to a handful of tourist sites.

P.beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. good location, not a far walk from the tube station. free breakfast. i didn't have the best customer service ever, but also can't complain too much since i only stayed one night. rooms had fans in them and windows that opened, which was a relief from london in august!!
T. S.I really enjoyed my stay, I was alone and I felt safe. It's close to the center, you get breakfast - basic but still good, you can lock your stuff if you need and there is good private shower which I really liked. I forgot to take my towel but they lend me one for free. It was bit noisy from trains but nothing too horrible and I still slept like a baby.
A. G.Great hostel to crash in for one night like I did or to stay longer. Beds were clean and there was a shower and a toilet on each floor. I liked that the rooms were small and the one I stayed in had 4 women total. The trains didn't bother me and it is in a really great location.
I wish the kitchen had longer hours because I couldn't get into it before I left in the morning. The same thing with breakfast. If you leave before 8, you totally miss it. That's the only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5.
Also the beds were expensive but I guess that's just London for ya.

J. S.I haven't had the pleasure of staying in the hostel but this is a very welcoming Central London bar. It also has the pleasure of not being overly busy so chances are you will get a seat. A good place to nip into if you are caught short on your travels. The outside seating area is basic but in and of itself does the job. Expect to pay London prices for a pint - that said, they have a decent selection on draught, a large number of cocktails and plentiful soft drinks. Seeing as it is right by Waterloo, it's probably one of the better places to stop off for a quick rest if you're making a day of it in the city.
C. D.The guy at the front desk was amazing! Can’t remeber his name but Hewas so welcoming, really worked hard and kept everything running so smoothly. He deserves a raise for sure. We stayed in the 22-bed dorm and found it comfortable and good value. The free breakfast was basic but enough. The location is awesome and staff was superb. Small but serviceable kitchen and many bathrooms and showers throughout. The bar below was really cool. For the price, it was excellent!
M. G.This hostel, is one of the best hostels I have ever tried to reserve with. They are amazingly responsive by email and are eager to accommodate. I strongly suggest booking directly with this hostile. As you are not going to get the incredible customer service with booking sites. Especially if you have unique needs such as checking in early at a cost. These guys are great.
I was greeted at 7 this morning by an extremely friendly staff member who got us checked in and less than 10 minutes, gave us locks for a 5lb deposit and even offered to carry my friends bag up four flights of stairs.
So with that said, this hostel does not have an elevator/lift whatever you would like to call it; it does not exist in this building!
If you are a rail lover this building is literally right on the corner of the national rail tracks leading into Waterloo Station! For Rail Enthusiast like me, that was just an amazing thing to wake up to! I can train watch all day. Love it!
A. S.The staff is very nice and ready to help you. The place is kept clean and the bed are quite comfortable.
There are a couple of problems, tough. There are few bathrooms and sometimes you have to wait a bit to get hit water in the showers.
The kitchen is well equipped but a bit small.
It's really close to railway, it's a little noisy.
Anyhow the total balance is absolutely positive, the position is perfect and I had a great time there!
K. N.As a pub, I have nothing negative to say. It's hip and bohemian which is perfect for travellers and locals to drop in for a drink. There's a decent selection of cocktails on offer as well craft beers on tap.
It's a little on the small side which means you may struggle to find a table especially on busier nights e.g. Thursday and Friday.
N. K.Beds and rooms were nice. Shower was okay but the toilets were really nasty. I loved the bar on the first floor and it was great to have a quick breakfast before we went out. Overall the experience was great except for the toilets which are not included in the en suite if you book that type of room.

H. J.Fantastic bar, a favourite of mine and my group of friends. I can't comment on the hostel, as I'm a Londoner, but it's worth going just for the decently priced (for London anyway) drinks. Cocktail selection is great, staff is friendly and know their stuff, music is top notch, atmosphere is cool, and weekday happy hours make it that much more worth it! No food, but you can bring your own.
M. H.For the price (~23 pounds per night), this place was great. A standard youth hostel. They have free towels, which is awesome.
I stayed in a 6 bed room with its own shower. The sheets were clean and the bed was sunken but otherwise comfy. One of the guys snored, but that's not the hostel's fault.
Bring earplugs and sandals for the shower and it should be no problem.
Great location. Nice staff.
Didn't eat the breakfast. I heard it was just toast and cereal.
A. R.The hostel is at a very good location, in walking distance of Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and other touristic venues. There is an underground station really near. The staff is so nice and sweet, Matthew (or was it Mathieu) was so welcoming to everyone! The staff is multilingual too! There is a kitchen with a fridge, a microwave and an oven so if you don't feel like going to a pub or something you can make yourself something.
If you can't stand the noise though don't forget to bring some earplugs because there are two train lines right beside the hostel. Also much of the time the guests won't necessarly be cautious of the noise they make in the dormitories, especially the 22 beds one.
There are 3 showers and a few bathrooms. The reception is at the bar, and although I was down with the flu part of my stay and couldn't really enjoy the bar, they have pretty awesome cocktails and drinks at a decent price.
I'll definitly come back eventually. 5🌟

The building i charming, rooms are a clean and despite the train I managed to sleep decently. Location very handy. Friendly staff. Decent buffet in the morning, nothing handmade.
No hangers in the room to hang your coats, and the power sockets not always are closed to the bed.
It would take a little effort to improve the overall experience, especially with the toilets and the showers.
All the taps I put my hands on were half broken, with leaks and the shower head water didn't want to stay in place, keeping on falling. No heating whatsoever. No bins for paper towels and a generally poor looking environment. Kitchen was handy but poorly equipped, sign with "free coffee and tee" but no actual tee was there. Few pans but no decent cooking tools. Also cold room, which is a shame since it could be a nice alternative meeting point for hostel's guests. No markers or labels to to use to put your name on the food as requested. I would keep the music in the bar lower, so people could actually interact more.

T. G.Amazing hostel for the price. Super friendly bartenders and staff. However the noise from the trains can be a nuisance when trying to sleep. The hostel is also not very friendly for those with mobility problems ie crutches. Another fault is that there is sadly no food served in the building so ou have to go down the street to their sister bar to order.

H.The place is nice and clean. It's only a five minute walk from the Waterloo station, the Old Vic and the Young Vic so that's pretty great. They don't have food (except breakfast) but you get a discount for food at a nearby place. There are also a lot of other food places around. On the bad side the train station is extremely close and you will hear the trains coming and going all day and part of the night. That said, even if it above the bar, I couldn't hear any noises from the first floor (but I stayed on a Wednesday so it might not be the same on weekends).

I. C.4 stars because of the location, SO close to buses and trains. It’s also a 10 minute walk to the Big Ben and Parliament buildings/bridge. 3 stars because of the accommodation. This location to me felt like a bar FIRST, THEN a hostel. I don’t know if my room was unlike others but it was a SHOEBOX it was difficult to walk to my bed because of luggage and people. Far too small for six people. Linens and room are incredibly BASIC AND BARE <cheap> I really hope and like to believe my sheets are clean but honestly who knows, they at least look clean. I really wish each bed had a personal light so that you could turn the lights off and keep only yours on. Bathrooms aren’t nice nice but they aren’t disgusting either. The trains weren’t as bothersome as I had thought you only hear the metal scraping from the rails, ambulances and police can be more disruptive. The staff are friendly. I personally didn’t check out the bar. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and real estate must be expensive in London I’m sure.
D. S.This is only a review for the pub, rather than the hostel as I've never stayed there. The pub has a great range of drinks, friendly staff and it's all at a reasonable price. It can get very busy but that's obviously the nature of the best, what with it being a hostel as well as a pub.

Location is incredibly close to everything in a beautiful part in the city and the price was very right! 5 star service, cleanliness, and location at a very affordable price. Cannot speak highly enough of this hostel.

I loved the bar and the staff too..but it was right underneath a railway line, and I kid you not the trains never stopped 24 HOURS A DAY. They were loud and obnoxious..you need to be a hard sleeper to stay there.

Spacious room inside, clean floor. Stayed a couple of days when I first visited London.

K. G.I just came here for a quick drink before going on a bicycle tour, so I can't comment on the hostel, but the bar is quite nice. There's some cosy sofas and little cubes to sit on, so a group of you can sit around together relatively easily. They don't serve food but they're happy for you to bring your own - just check out some of the lovely places on Lower Marsh.
b.Three stars are for interesting people. Cheap Hotel, very plain. Meet interesting poor people here. Most sit outside, weather permitting. Homeless are living just up the road under the bridge. Beer prices were about the same as other bars in the area. L9.50 for a couple draft beers.

I regret not being able to stay a whole weekend because when I got back Friday night the place was packed and filled with great energy. Too bad to leave at 2am Saturday morning. Womp! Regardless of my short stay, I enjoyed my time here. I will definitely be booking here next time I'm in London! This hostel is conveniently located one block away from the Lambeth North tube station and right in front of a bus station! The only downside was the mold in the bathroom.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. They offer to print out online tickets etc for free. You can also get a power adaptor for British sockets with a refundable deposit of 5 pounds. Lockers are available in the room and there is a storage facility for valuables to which only the staff has access. WiFi was working good and speed was nice. Breakfast was ok. For me it was acceptable and sufficient (specially for the price one is paying here). Location is great. One can walk to many central areas and sightseeing places saving time and money. There are also many tube stations and bus stops within walking distance. Waterloo station also offers trains to other cities. There is a small kitchen where you can have free tea and coffee or cook your own meal in the evening. they have a fridge and microwave there. The bed is already made for you. This is not the case in all hostels I have been to. Overall, I can recommend this place. there were only a few minor issues which I have mentioned but my experience was positive nonetheless.
Cons:
Breakfast was basic and timings were 8-10am. For me 8am is a little late as I want to start off early and many times I skipped breakfast there and got something from outside because of this. They only have instant coffee. Building doesnt seem to have been renovated recently but still it was clean. Toilets etc are small. The area is loud. So you should get earplugs if you have trouble sleeping. the trains pass directly next to the building and you can often hear sirens. Besides, there is a bar on the ground floor which can be loud on the weekends. Also, because of the large number of beds in the room, there are people coming and going frequently which can be disturbing.

L. V.Ideal for a low low budget trip to London because of the price and the perfect location. It is a hostel so don't expect any hotel-like comfort. For that price everything seemed OK to me, trains didn't bother us much because we were dead tired every night by the time we arrived.
P. J.We found the Walrus hostel extremely nice. The checkin was smooth. We reached early, so they stored our bags, free of charge and allwoed to return for checkin later. We could start exploring London immediately. The staff was friendly and breakfast provided was good. There are multiple floor to this hostel and the bar is where you get breakfast in the morning. It feels like a friends cafe where people from the upstairs rooms drop in and out during the day and is open for customers at night. There is separate access to the rooms to avoid the bar crowd in the night. Security seems good. One major drawback is the noise of the trains. It is very close to the station and the rooms on one side continuously hear the screeching sounds of train and occassional sparks from the train wires. We were there for 3 nights and didn't realise all this after the first night, as we were so tired that we slept off immediately. Bathrooms and toilets are of average quality. Wifi works good. Best is the location of this hostel, it is very close to Westminster bridge, Big Ben and London eye. In all, a very good stay.

A. B.Considering this is a hostel it was actually very clean and offered everything you'd need. For 1-2 nights, especially when backpacking, this place is located in a fairly central location and has two tube stations fairly close. For people who just need a place to sleep and don't mind large 20 bed rooms, this is a great place to stay at. (Free Wi-Fi is available too, also you get towels from the reception)

Nice interior with plenty of comfy seating, excellent music, fast free wifi, great selection of drinks, prices that are competitive for this part of town & great bar staff. Monday night they do a special on mojitos with other specials on other weekdays. Definitely worth a visit.

G. J.Too much noise as hostel is located exactly opposite to Waterloo railway station. Atleast 1 train pass every minute from here making it very difficult to sleep overnight. Also many hostel beds dont have electricity plug stock to charge mobile phones. Hostel staff is nice and always ready to help

Being a single woman witb an injury i was made welcome and it was a peaceful relaxing environment.

The downside is the railyard behind the building where the screech of steel wheels on steel rails can be heard piercing the air day and night. I'd stay here again but I came to my bed exhausted from a day's travels and I could sleep through a war-- results may vary

Besonders gefallen für ein Hostel hat mir das kostenlose Handtuch und die Möglichkeit das Gepäck sicher verwahren zu lassen. Weiterhin gibt es Stromadapter und Schlösser für die Schränke gegen Pfand.

The only problem with the hostel is that it is close to the waterloo station, and the trains pass very close to the windows, I believe that some 40 meters, noise goes on until 24 pm; in the cold you can close the window which reduces the noise of the train, but in the heat you have to sleep with the window open, then it is impossible to sleep because of the noise.
There is the metro station Lamberth North (brown line) which is about 150 meters away which makes it much easier.
You can walk to the main tourist spots like Big Ben and London aye.
Apart from the noise of the trains, the hostel is good and has a great atmosphere and very nice staff.
