Great location, good views, quite clean place, however inside rooms very tight. Hardly could move around and I wasn't aware it will be 2 bunk beds in our room. Shower not flexible, just connected to the wall. Children couldn'ttake shower, as it wasn't fit for them. I doubt we will be back. Thanks.

Loved this place, the location, and the staff. Room was small for 4, but still worked great and had a table, tv, and a little room to sit.

Working down in Plymouth and it’s the 2nd time using the hotel. Both times had a great sleep. 100% no bed bugs. Recommend Anyone wanting a cheap good night sleep

I stayed there for a month, grateful for having found a place like this. Despite the perceived level of quality, it's a good value for price. Well cleaned and maintained as well. This was my entrance gate into the city and life in UK.

Cons: Hard beds, lack of "power" in the showers.
Pros: Everything else! The staff is friendly, and accomodating. And flexible. I had booked a bed in the 4 bed-dorm, but been moved to the 6 bed dorm because there were already 3 others in the 4, and only 1 in the 6. That's awesome service: Seeing to the most privacy possible under the circumstances.
The included breakfast is also more than acceptable for the price: Plenty of choices of cereals and bread.
In conclusion: The only reason I don't give 5 stars, is that the mattresses were hard, meaning that I got up hurting in the morning.
But that lasted only a little while after getting up.
If I come back to Plymouth, I will stay here again, if possible.

I stayed here on and off for a year. This hotel is very basic, and a bit scruffy but I must say the rooms were always clean and warm. The staff are friendly. The location is actually ok, only a short walk up to the town centre.
If we are being honest this place offers far better value for money than a lot of b and bs in plymouth , who charge the earth but offer very little extra.

We were a mixed group of 25 from france And the eldest members were in their early 80’s so don’t think only the young are catered for. We were welcomed and treated like family, Karen, James and Dave were so helpful both during our stay and with the preparation beforehand. The rooms, dorms with bunks, were clean and comfortable and the dining room/ social room was great for us all to be together in the evenings. Breakfast was included in the price and was both plentiful and varied and tea and coffee were available constantly. We opted to have our meals here too and each evening we ate a delicious home cooked meal followed by a dessert for a very reasonable price.
Plymouth backpackers is handy for the city centre and sights, transport to other resorts and to Dartmoor and is Very handy for the ferry. The highlight for us though was the excellent welcome that we received and the brilliant customer service, we arrived as strangers and left as friends.

Really nice nook. Karen is very friendly and helpful. It stands out from other hostels as it had this welcoming warmth that felt like you were staying at your grandmother's or your aunt's house. Points for the cat too. It isn't too far from the centre, about 10 minute walk from the shopping arcade and the How, and 15 minutes from the Barbican.
This only things I didn't like were the difficult to use showers and the fact that check-in is from 4pm. I arrived in Plymouth at 1pm and had to carry my luggage around with me.

Very old building, electrics none too lovely, area more than a bit dodge; didn't feel safe as a lone female traveller. That said, it was clean, the showers were good, and no-one disturbed me overnight. If you're a bloke or part of a party and you want to economise then consider them, but I won't be back.

Had a great stay here, good atmosphere and friendly staff. I really liked the quirky décor. There was a nice little (well kitted out) kitchen for everyone to use, which was brilliant. Prices were very reasonable, I highly recommend.

Great friendly and convenient stay. Hostel badly needs some maintenance but overall clean and well provisioned. Breakfast was amazing and staff so helpful. Would use again.

Good for the price except when you use tap's, shower or toilet cistern is VERY noisy when refilling, good choices for the continental breakfast

People are welcoming and nice it's a shame the condition of the building, the damp in the corridors made me sneeze a lot.

Me and 3 friends stayed in a 4 bedroom. Small, cramped, however clean, shower worked and even provided clean towels. Anyone moaning about comfy beds should pay the extra £50 for the travel lodge up the road.
James behind the reception was a top bloke also, very welcoming. For the value of money, it’s excellent, will be staying again.
