Reviews of Premier Inn Preston Central hotel
Finding myself unexpectedly having to spend the night in Preston, it being impossible to reach my final destination on the train that night, I was pointed in the direction of the Premier Inn, having discovered that two pubs near the railway station, supposedly 'with rooms', no longer offered accommodation. It transpired that the managers of both had apparently decided to live in the former rental rooms themselves!
Well, I have stayed in many Premier Inns over the years and, from the outside, I wasn't expecting all that much.
HOWEVER, what made this visit exceptional was the welcome by Mikey, the young guy on reception and the cheeriness of the staff at breakfast. But first things first.
Mikey could not have done more to welcome me, as a weary late-night traveller on a cold winter's night.
He sorted out the perfect room for me and even let me use his mobile to ring my friends to tell them where I was, my own smartphone having gone AWOL. I do not often award gold stars, but this young man was so helpful that I emailed the management a few days later and hope my commendation was passed on.
I must confess that I have had some pretty average breakfasts in other Premier Inns, but this offering was absolutely splendid. There was a really good choice of cereals, pastries, bread, hot and cold drinks, as well as an excellent breakfast buffet, including my favourite black pudding. My only quibble is that the kitchen was rather slow in replenishing stock and I heard a few moans about items not being available.
That being said, the team at breakfast was cheerful, helpful and keen to please.
Well done all round!
Premier Inn are quite predictable in what you get, but this felt like a disappointing experience overall. The room was clean enough on the face of it but very cobwebby around the ceilings and fixtures, and the carpet left a lot to be desired. The heating broke almost instantly and while staff were apologetic and did supply an alternative heater, I understand it wasn’t just my room having issues. Given the weather (snow storms) it was less than ideal! The restaurant was also closed on arrival as ‘all the grills are broken’, and while I’m always fond of a trip down memory lane, I’m not sure I’d have chosen to return to the days when toilet paper was rationed if given the choice. All that being said, the location was good for what I needed and staff were very pleasant when around (it’s a self check-in/out system).
Oh, parking also costs a fortune for the only nearby long stay, and can’t be extended on Ringo past 36 hours - which meant a freezing trudge down to the carpark to buy another ticket at 7am as payment can’t be made in advance.
I stayed at the Premier Inn in Preston three weeks ago after a day of sightseeing. I realised I had made a mistake with my reservation dates, but Ismail at the front desk went above and beyond to help me out. His professionalism and kindness truly saved the day. A big thank you to Ismail for his excellent service! Highly recommend this hotel for its outstanding staff.
We stayed at Premier Inn Central Preston on 6 December. Lovely, comfortable and clean room. Fabulous to find a bath there too. Mikey was lovely from our check-in to making a much welcome coffee later. Thank you, Mikey and Premier Inn for a lovely stay.
Great location! Shopping literally around the corner and the train station 5min walk away. We took the train into Blackpool. Service is wonderful, a chap who works here went out of his way to serve our gluten free breakfast correctly. Room was inviting. Really happy with this Premier Inn. Car park charges reasonable.
Really useful location if you need to be in the centre of preston - near the uni, pubs and shops
Breakfast has excellent gluten free and vegetarian options (lots of choice)
Staff very helpful at explaining things
they have security available in. the early hours of the morning so I felt safe as a solo female traveller
Main issue is lack of car park. There is paid parking round the corner but it’s a small car park that gets very busy and is not very well lit. Once I eventually found the entrance. It’s a large building with shops and various outlets on the ground floor. The entrance was a bit confusing and when I arrived there was no one in this table with a computer on and I saw two self check in machines with instructions how to activate a card for the room key. I had just started when someone came up and said I will do that and then checked me in. Then back to the lift through some heavy fire doors which I assume had to be kept closed as it wasn’t easy to navigate these with a case. A backpack and a laptop bag. Once in the room it was business as usual. Clean tidy and does what it is intends for so no issues with the rooms and cleanliness. What stands this hotel
Apart from other premier inns I have stayed at was the view. Not that it was inspiring it was just looking out over A junction and the rest of Preston beyond but as I was on the top floor it was beautiful. I can’t remember the room
Number but if you get on floor five you may have a good chance of getting it. Really good stay
Good location, near train station and shops and bars. Mattress very comfortable
You always know what you're going to get when you book at Premier Inn; food mattresses, nice breakfast and a clean environment. The service is always good too, however this one was made even better by Sue, one of the staff members. Every morning in the restaurant I was greeted by Sue with a smile and a lovely welcome. Thanks Sue!
Our room was perfect for my family's night kip. Clean room and enough towels. Nice book and brownies for the kids. Lovely touch. But THE AC.. was not great, having 5 of us in the room. Pls look into increased temp. But surroundings are clean. Parking is an issue, so a drop off and pick up is all you get for this location. The retail park across the hotel is great for pick up.
Overall, it was very good.
Clean right through to every corner. No USB power outlet in room, but cheerily loaned a 3pinUSB by the receptionist wizard of the bar Ismiel. Potential disaster (eticket on phone) avoided hurray! What a lovely "can do" spirited set of staff. Location was everything required to make stay positive and helpful. Recce highly!
What a delight, my wife and I were really taken back by the homely hospitality given by the staff. No problem was to big and the effort given was wonderful. Slept really well, in the comfortable bed. The breakfast was a joy, we were served by “Sue” and she was perfect in providing us with our ultimate breakfast request. We can not wait to return. Thank you so much for making our stay perfect.
Excellent value for money.
Stayed over on Christmas Day night and it felt really special. Staff were kind and we felt tended to. Christmas card was in our room on arrival.
Breakfast was tasty and well worth it.
I’ll easily stay here again.
The rooms are dull and air flow is too bad. Didn't like the place. I didn't find anything good to praise the Hotel apart from the location of the hotel.
Great stay at this hotel. Location is brilliant, right in the centre of the city.
All the staff were polite and very very helpful.
Slept like a baby their beds and pillows are the BEST!!!
Only thing that was not so welcoming was the hall way entrance cause it looked a bit bleak and had a smell the rest of the premier inn was fine ,food welcome and the eating area and the rooms . Close to bus and rail way and a taxi rank across from it as well
This hotel is undergoing a refresh, but never the less it still appears dated. The room is large enough, but the fact that i had to request for the window that has a safety retainer attached to be unlocked rather than use the Aircon was bewildering, but apparently it was a H&S reason????
Lovely stay , top service from Sue , very welcoming. Lovely woman.
So I decided to go to Premier Inn Preston Central for my birthday as my mum was staying here for a few days... I went in being ill and all the staff was very helpful and thoughtful, saying they hoped I felt better soon and telling me to ask them anything I needed. On my birthday eve I went for a drink at the bar with a friend and some of the staff wished me a happy birthday then. On the actual day I went with my family for a nice meal at the lovely restaurant in the hotel and the manager (or deputy manager?) brought me a card made by himself wishing me a lovely day from all the staff. I told him the day I went to check in it was my birthday at the end of the week. I think it is very thoughtful and friendly. Great staff, lovely place to stay, amazing food and atmosphere, and situated right at the center of Preston.... would recommend 10/10. Thank you for making a nice hotel such a lovely place to stay!!
Will definitely stay here again. Location is in the heart of Preston. Staff were fantastic. Rooms and public areas are kept very clean, air conditioning, and the beds are sooooo comfortable. Restaurant was kept neat and clean. Fabulous choices for Breakfast. This is the first hotel I've ever seen crumpets served as an alternative to toast. Stay here and enjoy.
Stated here for almost 2 weeks, and it was a great place. There are no wash cloths/flannels, so bring your own or buy one across the street at the pound store. There also is no mini fridge or microwave, so you can't bring home left overs and eat it later. But the breakfast is really good, and at night you can go down and order a pizza made in the kitchen. The bar tender is super friendly! So is one of the cooks, ya'll are awesome!
I had a great time here! My boyfriend and I stayed here on new year's eve after spending the night out at the warehouse nightclub. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was great and everything was very clean. We had no problems with noise. It was very easy to get in later on at night when we got back, with just an additional key card swipe at the front door. Check in and out were also very quick and easy, and someone was always present at the desk when we needed them. The premier in is in a fantastic location right night to the shops, and only a short walk to the warehouse nightclub, but far enough away so that you cannot hear all the noise from that area.
A very pleasant hotel, nice room & very comfortable & clean. Only 2 coffees, tea sachets & 4 milks. We could have got more from reception but we were in our PJ's by the time we realised. Check out time was 12 noon, but when we returned to room to collect our cases at 11.35 after looking round shops our door key card wouldn't work. When I went to reception, luckily on the same floor, I was told it was because it was near check out time!. A member of staff came to let us into the room & waited while we got our cases, we were not impressed as it was still only 11.45. We have stayed in many Premier inns & never had this problem. A good hotel, staff need a more customer friendly attitude.
Thank you so much Ismail and Alice for the amazing service. Although we checked in last moment, you still provided us with a cot which you had to run around for. we really appreciated everything you did.
We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast 😋.
Lovely stay here for 1 night. Staff were very friendly and courteous both at reception and in the restaurant. Room comfy and clean. Only issue I had was finding the car park in the dark.
Stayed here this week Thursday as week to today and didn't expect much however wow absolutely amazing customer service!!!the room was absolutely spotless!!! Nothing was to much to ask for the staff amazing!!! The manager in the dining room excellent customer service !!!! The breakfast second to none absolutely fantastic !!! I have to say after staying in 5* hotels all over the world !!! This little gem is amazing and we will be back whenever we are back home thankyou to all staff and managers !!!!!!
Overnight stay in a twin room at Preston Central. Standard Premier Inn amenities, clean, serviceable and friendly staff. Pullout bed not the comfiest, however good bathroom facilities (plenty of hot water even on a Sunday morning!). Breakfast is amazing for £9, all you can eat and bottomless drinks. Couldn't find any better breakfast deals in the local vicinity. There is no designated car park so check the parking before you arrive. £8 in Euro Car Park on St Wilfreds Road is the nearest option, but it is a good 5 min walk away and not the easiest to find. Would recommend but figure out the logistics before you arrive.
Another great stay at Premier Inn Preston Central.
Great central location, easy to find. Very friendly staff on check in.
The staff in the restaurant couldn't be more friendly, especially Stephen.
The rooms are spacious and well equipped for a budget hotel. I would stay here again.
Staff were all really lovely and friendly. Comfy beds, great shower and amenities. Also good breakfast. A pleasant stay.
Good value for money. Rooms are nice. Have drink facilities and a hairdryer! Beds are very comfy easy to book and right in the middle of town. Can't ask for more
I liked this PI. Close to the station, walking distance...friendly and warm staff at check in process. Room was as you'd expect at a PI, decent bed and shower and clean. A tele etc. Didnt eat in evening but staff at breakfast were friendly and helpful. Hot buffet rotated regularly. Would 100% rebook
Fantastic service from the lady managing breakfasts Tue 26th Sept (sorry didn't note her name 🤦). She was a real star - nothing was too much trouble. Thank you very much 👍🏻
Lovely clean room in great city centre location. Friendly staff, Sue was brilliant at breakfast, so helpful, knowledgeable and welcoming to our group.
There is NO parking.
Clean; less than 5 minutes walk from the rail station with friendly, helpful staff.
Not much different from other Premier Inns.
Wifi could be better; you can park in St. George's car park as there is no free parking around.
Lovely helpful staff, really clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice, hot food cooked to order. Well with the stay near the station and right in the city.
Spent night 20th 10th May staff friendly room spacious clean if you need more towels coffee tea milk you cn retrieve at reception can check in early at £10 fee only downfall was the tv not much selection, breakfast was lovely lots of selection great value waitress Sue was lovely so attentive made breakfast enjoyable sad she's retiring
Loved it so central. Happy friendly staff. Sue is just amazing.. So helpful and kind.. Kieron is also an excellent member of the Premier staff... Well done... We will be back in December.. X
Not the best premier Inn. Rooms were freezing but once we got the heat on was decent enough apart from the bathroom which was still cold.
Other than that it'd your block standard premier inn with brilliant beds and great staff.
Staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was adequate, the bed was very high however and difficult to get in. Food was not served all day and only those who pre-booked were able to have dinner in the few available slots. The hotel is situated in a perfect place to the centre too.
I have been to the Premier Inn Preston Central for a drink with my sister and I liked it. It has a nice bar and restaurant. The staff are very friendly and helpful as well. I would recommend a visit to Premier Inn Preston Central.
We left Preston 18 years ago so have the odd night out in Preston .would definitely book again . Fantastic staff My husband is very fussy on pillows and had amazing nights sleep ,so Asked about buying the pillows the house keeper came to speak to us very helpful from booking in to leaving
Good location , close to station and shops , being Preston the views were far from bucolic but hotel was quiet and had a nice room on top floor, tap was lose but overall very clean and comfortable, check in staff were efficient and pleasant , Aldi just across the road for essentials and given the state of some towns these days Preston has made an effort with its high street and nice covered market .
Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Only thing that let it down was housekeeping. Bit dusty and we didn't have a full set of towels in our double room.
Lovely staff , clean rooms, nice breakfast and good price
Stayed one night, very last minute. Was unable to call hotel direct prior to staying, booking line, which is national, was closed, not a great experience. Hotel itself is decent enough, though my room was a bit tired. Staff members were great.
The staff were very lovely and Sue was great during the breakfast time with an excellent service throughout.
Located centrall'y to main shopping street. Car park close by. Staff very attentive and room was of a good standard and very quiet. The bar and food were a welcome extra and helped to take away extra stress.
Clean hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is good but could of been warmer. Only downfall is there is no on site car park
Nice, clean hotel. Staff are lovely, beds comfy and the shower is great. Have stayed before and would definitely stay again.
Great hotel, central location and a short walk from train station and just over fromUclan uni. Access could be sign posted better, does not have own car park but agreement to pay fixed price if you know where car park is?
Standard room comfortable bed as always. If staying a a single female I would haven't felt very comfortable with the surrounding area
Standard Premier Inn. Staff exceptional. Nothing too much trouble and went out of their way to provide customers including myself with what I needed/wanted. Would visit again due to this alone.
Very clean and warm rooms, very friendly staff who were incredibly helpful. Cannot fault them at all. Thank you
Very nice and clean rooms. Well situated in the city centre, close to the train station. Very professional and helpful staff.
Convenient location. Great staff. Comfy room. Good value. Noisy nightclub across the street was a bit irritating
Rooms were lovely. Staff helpful. Hotel all in all very good, though. Breakfast staff were a little awkward.
The hotel is in a great location and the staff are fantastic. However, there is no car park so you have to pay £8 a day for parking at a private car park nearby.
Our first visit since pre lockdown, still the same high standards of professional service with large amounts of "the personal touch". A BIG SHOUT OUT TO AMY and H. Go team Premier.
Very central location close to plenty of restaurants and bars. Air conditioning in every room. It would've been nice if there was a fridge in the room.
I stay here fairly regularly for business and the staff are always very friendly, rooms are comfortable and it's the perfect location (close to station and restaurants)
Does what it says on the tin, lovely, friendly staff, breakfast filled us up for the rest of the day. Off site parking was only a short walk.
Great hotel check in staff 👍 brilliant
Comfy bed. Clean room and superb staff. Wifi kept dropping out which maybe out of their control but needed.
First time going to a premier inn and was very impressed with the place. Lovely staff who were happy to help with any queries even on new years day!
Great stay, booked ahead and it was really easy. The location is fantastic.
Very good value but they couldn't cope with the 9 a.m. Sunday breakfast rush
Very noisy, rooms very warm. Easy location, friendly staff
You cannot go wrong with this hotel chain.
Friendly staff, clean and cozy place,
Very professional and friendly staff and very clean!
Perfect
Very good 👌
Great for staying in Preston! Both for the honest cost and for the services offered and the location very close to the station and the centre. The room is spacious and clean, furnishings a little dated but well kept. Bathroom with tub, a real gem! Very comfortable bed thanks to quality mattresses! Intercontinental breakfast complete with various dishes and drinks. The staff is very kind and welcoming. I will definitely come back here if I find myself in this city! Thank you for the welcome you received!
Basically a typical Premier inn with a perfect location between the train station and a Spoons.
Only our room was a bit outdated. The air conditioning in the room didn't really work and the bed lamps didn't have bulbs. There are also no handles to hold on to when showering.
Overall, however, I would come back at any time.
Excellent location, close to the center and the station. Clean rooms. Very good hotel restaurant
Beautiful, practical, central, cheap, clean, well-kept and kind staff.
What more could you want?
Good restaurant!
Clean, nice service, good breakfast.
