C.We have been coming here for years, my husband bought me here when we were camping nearby and he absolutely loves the honey ice cream. His all time favourite! When we visit we have to come here more or less every other day of our holiday and he will sometimes even buy 2 ice creams for himself per visit! I usually try the other flavours which have all been fab. I've even met the bear in the past too 🐻 big kid at heart!

R. M.They make the best ice cream I've ever had. Honey ice cream and it comes in several flavours. They usually sell a range of jams and marmalade and sweets and energy bars, but on my last visit (October 2022) the shop was empty and the cafe closed. All that was for sale was ice cream. For some bizarre reason they have stopped taking cash, it's card only now regardless of how little you buy.

B.Delicious. Been going here for over 35yrs and it's still my favourite. They only do two flavours per day now but you only need one. Honey. They do honey flavour every day and the other flavour rotates so its different most times you go. If you're in Tywyn then definitely give it a try.

T.Was really quite disappointed that they had no stock of gluten-free cones, and then we found out that none of the toppings are coeliac safe, so all we could ever have was a scoop of ice cream,...The ice cream was nice enough - but we had specifically gone there because a good gluten-free cone is hard to come by, at the height of tourist season I wasn't expected to be let down this way.
MOST people who are avoiding gluten do so because of coeliac disease .. this is not a lifestyle or fashion choice such as veganism that I'm forcing people to adhere to etc... It is a disease, a genuine and often crippling intolerance.
Staff were friendly, price was good, Ice cream was fine... But maybe you could cater for others a little more conscientiously in the future :-)

H.I’ve been visiting Holgate’s for over 35 years and see it change over the years but always enjoyed the ice cream and always the original one it’s always a treat to visit which isn’t as often now, we visited recently 13/07/22 and wasn’t disappointed the original Honey with Honeycomb sprinkles was excellent and the same tasting honey ice cream as always the only downside was how inconsiderate people parked taking up far more space than needed, here’s to our next visit and the wonderful ice cream I must add the cost was very reasonable too.

A. T.It’s a nice place and it has recently been updated which makes the place so much more modern than previously. The ice cream is at a reasonable price in comparison to those in aberdyfi. The ice-cream itself is lovely and the choice of flavours are great. When it comes to portion sizes, it really depends on who serves you, sometimes you get a good portion whereas others you get hardly anything. The waffle cones are dreadful, soft and taste very artificial and just vile. You’re best with a pot or a sugar cone. Hence only 4 Stars.

The original still as great as ever, I didn't try the strawberry this time but the whiskey is devine if you like Bailey's you'll love this. Even a selection of "doggy ice creams" in flavours such as cheesy, peanut butter etc. The shop also sells a variety of confectionery and tourist type biscuits and sweets.
B.This is an absolute must visit if you like ice-cream. It has a very unique creamy flavour which can be topped of with a good choice of toppings.

S. H.Delicious, honey flavoured soft ice cream delectably swirled into a cone or tub. Top it with sprinkles, honeycomb or a flake. A must visit for us whenever we visit the area. You can have original honey flavoured or try one of the flavoured ones (still honey sweetened) of which there is usually a choice of 2 and the choice varies from day to day. Or you can have a duet--2 flavours swirled together. They are being Covid aware, operating a one way system, in one door, choose, go to till and out by a different door. There is a nice seating area outside to enjoy your treat. In non-Covid times the honey bear often visits. The shop sells nice gift packs of things like Welsh fudge, and biscuts.

Today's flavours were honey, Passion fruit, Irish coffee and strawberry, there are different cones and toppings to choose from, lots of choice. After 2pm the honey bear appears! She is very friendly! They also sell sweets, fudge, rock, jam, etc, they also sell hot and cold drinks and frozen yogurt for dogs. There are toilets, Picnic area and car park. There is limited seating inside. You don't actually see the ice-cream being made. It's just on the edge of Tywyn which itself has good beaches, Free parking and good range of shops.
