Reviews of Kyoto Sushi & Grill

Been a few times before pandemic. Menu has changed and prices have increased for the buffet.
Buffet selection has decreased and you now order 2 items (as opposed to upto 5) per person, hover the portion sizes have doubled. You can order "unlimited" sides.
The quality of the food is good, but certain things have gone, such as steak and duck. Salmon and some prawn dishes are still available. Lots of chicken dishes.
We as a family use to look forward to visiting there, but the price increase and, more importantly, the selection of dishes were disappointing.
Service was good and dishes did come out at a good pace. Not sure if it's worth the price anymore.

We always enjoy coming here for the all you can eat menu. We’ve enjoyed the updated menu to give more variety. The staff continue to be friendly and prompt, and the food is wonderfully fresh and very tasty. The all you can eat menu is fantastic value for money. Our favourite dishes are the sushi nigiri and rolls (luxury set), avocado and seaweed salad, gyoza, and sweet buns. It’s our favourite Japanese restaurant in Birmingham.

Tried the new menu from reopening in Jan 2022. Sushi and dishes were all superb quality with plenty of choice on the unlimited menu and a 2.5 hour slot is more than enough. Price is OK at £25.50 but the compulsory 10% service charge is just a hidden way of hiding the full price. Would recommend but Kyoto just be honest with your price and don't try hiding the full price under service charge
N.
Really delicious sushi, brilliant service and just a great atmosphere. A little on the expensive side but to be honest it is well worth the price. A must visit!
A. B.
Back up and running as all you can eat 😍 absolutely love this place, great sushi but so many other options if that's not your thing!
A.
Omg I must say it was our first family outing since covid. Yes we was going to do the all you can eat. But they had to change the menu Abit but they didn't disappoint us at all. The staff was so friendly and even explained everything to us. The environment was clean and tidy and welcoming. The plum wine was so yummy and so was the sushi. The bento boxes. Well... U can see for yourself. Full of colour and the flavours was amazing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

So glad the AYCA menu is back and rhe place is BOOMING.
Food is brilliant as always, menu has changed and the ordering system has also changed since pre-pandemic, but in my opinion for the better.
Follow them on Instagram for 10% off
Best AYCA sushi place in brum.
Love this place so much.

Some of the best sushi and Japanese dining in Birmingham. I've been visiting Kyoto since it opened and recommend it to all of my friends. We tried the new sharer menu on this visit, the options were great and service quick as usual. If you haven't been, go.
J. M.
We visited for the new shared dining menu and everything was fantastic. Will be visiting again soon!
K. N.
Establishment was very clean. The sushi was absolutely out of this world, really fresh and tasty. The staff were very friendly and professional always on hand to tend to our every need. The sake wine is a must try. I am definitely returning.

First time visiting Kyoto since COVID. We used to go before and they were great.
Post covid, they've updated the menu a little, but otherwise same great food and service.
Staff were polite and attentive and the food was very nice. Great mix of both cold sushi and cooked dishes.
You get given an order card and can order a set amount of dishes per 'round' depending on the number of people at your table. You can have as many rounds as you wish though. You simply mark on the card against the food you want and place the card on the edge of the table. The staff attentively collect it quickly and it's brought back to you once the order is with the kitchen with your previous rounds crossed out
If you reach the end of the card they give you a new one.
Price wise it's just over £25 per person, not too bad. With food and a drink each for two coming to approx £65.
I'd recommend booking in advance to avoid a short wait at peak times.
Overall very good and would recommend!
K. B.
This is still hands down the best place for sushi in the West Midlands. It's the best value for money, great atmosphere, polite attentive staff and like I said unbeatable food. But after closing completely during the Covid and reopening the end of 2021 they have made slight but noticeable changes and its not quite the same as pre covid. I can't put my finger on it maybe it's the reduced menu, or the reduced order limit? The price has increased but what hasn't at this moment in time. I don't know but my 4 star review is because I knew what it was like but I suppose a new customer would rate it 6.
D. C.
Food was great, prices have increased since we last visited in 2019. Service was mixed. They would have gotten 5 stars except their toilets were very unkept and had a rotten smell. They need to address this immediately. Otherwise, we look forward to returning.

Very nice Sushi , fresh and good variety , pleasant environment. Will be back ...

Food was amazing. Went on the 18th March - our host was fabulous. We didn't love one of the dishes and they were super kind about it. Would recommend and absolutely going again

One of my favourite sushi spots. Good quality food plus all you can eat, what more can you ask for! For a buffet style restaurant they offer plenty of options ranging from different types of sushi to grill, fried, and hot food. Pricing is competitive with only a few things that come at an additional cost. Halal options available (lamb, beef, sheep). Recommend to people who love sushi or want to try sushi for the first time but be warned, once you walk in you will be rolling out from being so full.
A. A.
One of the best! FRESH all you can eat restaurants in U.K.
They make it fresh to order and bring to your table. Great service some of the best food around. Lamb chops and sushi amazing. Must try.
Hopefully they will bring back all you can eat soon
P. I.
We had our first date there, we got engaged there and have our anniversary there. Its always fantastic and deserves a visit. Their all you can eat is very good value.

Love this restaurant! I always visit this place when in Birmingham. Pleased that my husband was able to come with me yesterday as he enjoys few Asian dishes. This place allows him to try a wide range of stuffs for a fixed price.
If I remember correctly, we didn't like the lamb/ beef skewers. They were well-done, and we didn't like the burnt taste. The rest is amazing. Highly recommend :)!

A gem in Birmingham Chinese quarter! Really good japanese restaurant, with really polite and helpful waiters! Well done guys!!!!
C. G.
Great place, excellent for the beginners to sushi. Each person pays £21.95 plus a 10% service charge at the end of the meal and you better come hungry. The food is fantastic, but be aware you can only order 5 items at a time. It also has a time limit of 2 hours for the all you can eat. An example of their food is in my pictures.
Note to the wise: not the best place if in a rush. Service is slow. The food is well worth the wait, though.
L. Z.
One of my favourite places to eat in Birmingham! Great food and service - though I will say when it's busy the service does slip a little (things getting forgotten) but end of the day food was still fantastic.
R. R.
Have returned to it again and again. Lovely place. Great service and delicious food. Staff are polite and friendly. Great value for money and the dishes are well prepared and presented. Never had a complaint. Would definitely recommend it. Also like their concept of a you can eat and fresh preparation.
L. J.
The staff was so friendly and even explained everything to us. The environment was clean and tidy and welcoming. The plum wine was so yummy and so was the sushi. The bento boxes.
J. L.
£22 for all you can eat sushi. Although a little pricey, the food was very good and there was a good selection to choose from. Whatever you do, don’t order the squid balls. They tasted weird and had a horrible mushy texture.
They have a no waste policy and you order up to 5 dishes per person per round. A very good way of ordering food with no waste.
When you ask for water they give you a big pint glass unlike other buffet restaurants I’ve been to.
Waiters are all very nice and helpful.
R.
A really nice restaurant with very friendly staff. The food was excellent, and they even fueled my obsession with takoyaki! If you've got a big appetite, the buffet option is an excellent choice.
A.
Delicious food, super fresh and beautiful decor! I've been here twice so far, I'll definitely be having atleast one meal here everytime I'm in Birmingham from now on. Fantastic quality and the staff are really helpful and friendly!
M. P.
Stopped in here today for a quick lunch and it was very nice. They offer multiple menus (lunch, all you can eat & a la carte). We opted for lunch menu and it was worth the money and food and service was really good and quick.
My only negative was that a 10% service charge was added to the bill automatically. I probably would have added anyway but I personally don't like when it's added. Especially at lunch on a table for 2.
R. S.
Great selection, over 80 items to choose from. Small plates, any 5 per round of food for each person, upto 4 rounds. All the food was great, it came out very quickly. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly, talked us through the ordering process. It's not a place to rush the food, leave plenty of time to enjoy.
N. H.
My partner and I visited for my birthday. Great service with friendly staff and great food. Highly recommended.
S. S.
High quality, unlimited sushi for just under £22? Yes please.
All the ingredients are fresh, portion sizes are generous and my word the food is delicious.
The ordering system is quirky, feeling like a cheeky game of Japanese bingo. You are given a long menu in the form of a long grid with four columns. Along the left hand side is a list of every item on the menu and you simply mark what you want with the number of portions you want in a single column. You are limited to ten portions per order round and each column signifys an order round.
Don't worry once you have had four rounds (four columns, 40 portions) you are given a new card to start over again.
There are penalties for wasting food but I believe this allows the restaurant to continue to provide high quality sushi at a low price so I was willing to put up with this.
The sushi selection is vast. The grilled food is impeccable and the desserts are tasty. Highly recommended for anyone who is craving Japanese food.
L. S.
Food was ok..some sushis and handmade rolls were a bit too dry.
Service got slower after first round.. we had to wait about 25 mins for the second round. (We were given only 1.35 hrs (instead of 2hrs) as we were told that our table had another reservation.
Service charge 10% is automatically charged on the bill without being asked if you would like to pay. We didnt want to pay it due to the slow service after round 1.
T. H.
I went at the weekend so it was an all you can eat only service.
The place is beautiful and the staff are very good. However, as hard as they try they really struggle when it gets crowded and the service suffered from it.
The food is pretty good but not anything really special. They're a bit sneaky and give you huge portions of the cheaper items and tiny portions of the more expensive ones.
V. R.
The food is very nice I suggest on the sushi, meats and salads and not so much rice, noodles and soups as the soups are not that nice and the serving sizes are a little to big. I really like the seaweed salad and sushi or salmon roe sushi and the handrools are fun and delicious to eat.
R. R.
The food here is brilliant, but if you want good service, avoid busy times. We've been on a Saturday and got very slow service, and on a weekday and have it be amazing.
V. O.
Missed this place over covid. Lots of choice, salmon was lovely. Miso soup, lamb chops. Can't wait to go again. Great food. 10% off if you follow them on Instagram too.
C. H.
Absolutely brilliant and reasonably priced
All made fresh
D. R.
Excellent food but the way the menu works is a blatent attempt to earn money through the sale of drinks. You have rounds of food with up to 5 dishes in each round. You have your round, then select what you want from the menu for the next round and scribble it down... Then proceed to wait for an annoying amount of time for anyone to come and take the order you've written down.
It did feel like a big ploy to sell drinks in the meantime as the staff would certainly come to ask if you wanted drinks but would avoid taking the food order on the table.
Like I said, the food is great, so if you do go, make sure that you grab the waiter when you've decided what you want next.
D. C.
Amazing experience, amazing food besides the seafood soup, amazing service!
Was served by a Pakistani lad he was friendly kind and understanding I will definitely be coming back!
W. R.
Great food, lovely sushi and a good range of cooked dishes too.
A. H.
Beautiful Japanese buffet. The food is perfect, the atmosphere is nice, the seating is relatively private, loved it! Definitely recommend.
A. N.
Me and my partner have been here many times and we still love coming here. Despite the price, you are getting fresh sushi and grilled food which is all you can eat. A large variety of menu items, a peaceful atmosphere created by the decor and a friendly staff team that is always happy to help.
S. M.
Amazing service, amazing food. I will definitely recommend if your looking for a sushi restaurant this is the one, five stars for sure
A. V.
This place is our favourite :) always we come back there. My first experience with sushi was very bad, because it was homemade and was to salted. After when I came in UK my boyfriend ask to try this place. I accept, but still scared eat sushi. But when I try I very like this taste and we always come back here to celebrate something :) It's amazing place....
a.
One of the best cuisines of its type, even as a vegetarian there were enough options to choose from. There is a charge at the end if you leave any food which helps minimise waste, but this wasn’t needed as the plates were cleared in quick time!
f. t.
Great buffet restaurant with a variety of dishes available. An easy buffet system with terrific service, I've always left here feeling very satisfied.
A. A.
Just came back from there. I felt the urge for sushi today and found this place, I was glad that it was a buffet. The selection available was second to none, and the food was freshly prepared as we ordered and arrived in no time at all. Usually I leave a sushi place not entirely satisfied or full, but I can say today that I am satisfied and totally full. My own doing, but the only thing that's bad about buffets is that I over eat, meaning I may not want sushi for a while now, nothing to do with the food or the place. The waiting staff are pleasant, and helpful.
Deserts were surprisingly pleasant, and a scoop of ice cream per person is not on the buffet desert menu but still available, and I strongly recommend you try it, it goes very well with the friend banana and pineapple.
Bear in mind that a 10% service charge will be added to your bill, and drinks are also chargeable too.
Not that it was a priority as we went for fish and sushi, but they had halal chicken and beef available too which was good to know, however we didn't verify this and took it as face value.
S. H.
Amazing place 10/10 service and food
R. N.
Wow best sushi in town amazing Japanese drinks clean the staff are amazing second to none.
The menu is vast and all done to perfection.
If you want a real Japanese experience you will not be disappointed visiting this restraunts only disappointment is after this place everywhere else is second place.
Top marks
J. D.
Very happy with the quality of food, the place is always packed, to make reservation to avoiding waiting for table.
P. a.
excellent food .i extremely recommended .absolutely fine eating so its worth checking them .it can be classy.
R. S.
Kyoto’ is a great place for sushi lovers. We could not fault the service which served us within minutes. Though, felt a little rushed. The ‘All you can eat’ proved to be a treat. Overal, a good dining experience.
A. S.
All you can eat Japanese dishes (hot and cold dishes) . Ice cream choice include Green tea and Black Sesame, delicious.
M. T.
Great price, amazing sushi and friendly staff. Only downside was the katsu curry arrived lukewarm.
J. S.
For me, the best sushi all you can eat in Birmingham, and for less than 20 💷
H. L.
All you can eat, but none of the mess that comes with it. No displayed food instead you choose and they cook it, and bring it to you.
They seem to update their menu at regular intervals which is a plus.
A. P.
This is the best Sushi place in Birmingham. Hands down. I won’t hear otherwise.
T. K. C.
I believe I speak for all of Asia when I say this
HALA KYOTO, HALA SUSHI, HALA PHILLIPINES, HALA HUDSON-ODOI
As I sat down, I saw all the finest sushi Birmingham had to offer and I KNEW
RIGHT THERE
RIGHT THEN
I had to have the curry
The Indian within me was screaming Inshallah... AND FOR GOOD REASON.
I have never used this word before, but this curry... THIS CURRY was just simply POGGERS, it changed my life. Before this curry I was a lean mean 85kg. Now I'm weighing at a meaty 160kg giving Eddie Hall a run for his money.

I'm living the ZAZA STYLE and I have no intention of stopping

Excellent service and excellent food. The piece de resistance was mango salad with 🍤 😋

Lovely sushi!
We will defintly come here again.
Very tasty and good food.
L. H.
Liked the layout and pace. Ordering system is efficient and food very satisfying. I will definitely go again.
S. H.
Food was pretty good, but don't go hungry to this place . Service very slow.
J. F.
Really enjoyed my meal at Kyoto. Me and my partner were both stuffed after 3 rounds of the All-You-Can-Eat. Very filling and good quality food with friendly staff.
Z. V.
We've been looking for long time for a good sushi place. This is the perfect one in Birmingham! Recommend!!!
S. a. Z.
Very good value for money. The portions were quite large and it was delicious.
E. G.
Lovely food. Great value for money.
R. S.
Great evening, in a lovely restaurant the food was absolutely amazing can't wait to go again.
M. C.
A lot of choice, fair price, nice staff, very quick to prepare and serve food. The quality is higher during week days. Defenitely worth a try.
D. V.
They changed the "all you can eat" menu to... well, they stopped it :)))
It wasn't much of an "all you can eat" anyway but it was a great way to try all the huge variety of sushi they have on.
It's about now that i have to disclose that i'm totally ignorant to Japanese food but i like it... except for the bit that i don't (leave that for another time)
The Eel was great. Well worth the money, so was the Ramen chicken teriyaki.
The portions are large and consistent.
The drinks are also in good quantity.
The best part are the staff. Amazingly friendly and helpful. THEY KNOW YOU DON'T KNOW, shhhh!!! So they have loads of ways to help you choose. But they are like older lovers... they want commitment, i.e. u need to make up your mind :))
A. M.
Very good sushi restaurant. All you can eat deal was good value and allows you to try lots of different dishes
s. l.
Great food and excellent service again. Will be going back for more
A. M.
Wow... what a choice... even my boyfriend with an extreme of list of alergies was provided for... like their way of ordering, quick service, green tea lovely, prices appropriate... just wow... will come again.
M. D.
Sushi is good quality. Plenty of other things for people who are not fans of fish.
U.
The sushi was Amazing and reasonably priced, the staff is very friendly and they do a good Service, went to eat there with a friend and atmosphere was really nice especially how they decorated the restaurant, makes you feel like you are in Japan in a park of sakura trees, lovely place.
A. T.
Very nice,thoroughly enjoyed the food.
S. D.
Fantastic service and great tasting food to have. The staff were excellent and could see how I was struggling with the chop sticks so put together a set of chop sticks which would be easy to use
P. W.
I would really recommend ramen in Kyoto! Delicious ❤
m. w.
Fantastic food and staff never get tired of this restaurant, visit once and you be hooked like me and my wife .
D.
Completely surpassed my expectations! I expected the sushi to be "meh" but everythinh we ordered was fresh, tasty and fast. The karage chicken wasnt what I expected, was more like breaded chicken rather than the usual. However for the value, still gets 5 stars!
A. H.
Fantastic Halal Service, will come again.
the service was explained prior food, the food was spot on.
h.
Brilliant food, good service, will definitely return!
D. X.
Sushi is nice, Hand roll is great, and other hot foods are fine!
G. S.
Number one sushi place I ate so far in the UK.
Good Nigiri menu.
M. H.
One of my favourite places to eat in Brum, the value for money is staggering even if the basic price point is high.
The staff are lovely and very diligent, especially for newcomers when explaining the restaurant's ordering system.
The best part for me though was that they don't skimp on drink sizes. You order a pint of Pepsi you get just that; non of that glass half full of ice nonsense.
Great place, highly recommend.
a. r.
Food was amazing as usual thank you 🥰🥰😍
L. P.
Great service, food is delicious.
A. J.
I havent tried much asian food, but this place was just too good. Very friendly staff, food was very good as well. Nothing to complain about..
N. S.
Love this place! It's always my go-to whenever I'm in Birmingham. The katsu is my personal fave <3 all the food is great though! I've never had a disappointing meal here. The price is reasonable, service is satisfactory and the food is AMAZING. You won't regret eating here. I've never been during the late evening (I usually go around late afternoon) but from what I've seen it's not too busy, which is nice. The ambience is great too!
K. D.
I have tried many sushi restaurants and this is hands down the best I have ever been to. The all you can eat comes out in good quantities and comes out exceptionally fast. More importantly the food tastes great! To top it all off the staff are truly excellent, they are extremely attentive, polite and friendly. I honestly could not fault the service I received today. I am one very happy customer!
C. W.
Love this place. All you can eat for a set charge, and freshly made to order. Service is not always perfect, but you can't have everything. Great value if you have a big appetite!
J. R. O.
Really nice place for eat, the food is amazing and the menu is huge, very good prices and the plates are really big and tasty. Also the staff members are really kind and they help you fast if you have any questions about the menu. Totally recommended!
C. F.
I went for the first time yesterday lunch time, and it won't be the last time. I was really impressed with the food and the service, just make sure you're hungry when you go! We only managed two rounds before feeling stuffed...the concept is each person can order five items per round, then once you've finished eating one round, you can order another round until you've had enough/ran out of time. It's a really good venue for a sociable meal!
A. J.
Amazing all you can it! Good fresh food, good quality ingredients. Affordable prices!
A. P.
Brilliant servers, lovely experience, love the decor and the food. We went for a birthday celebration and it was perfect as it was a way of dining we had never done before. The cherry blossom tree is a great touch. Obviously we liked some dishes more than others, but that's the experience of it!
I. S.
The food is fantastic, the wide selection from sushi to tempura style dishes make it easy for everyone to find something they will enjoy. However, the ordering system can be a bit confusing especially to the servers; sometimes we waited for over half an hour between our round as the little menu was taken by one waitress and brought back to us by another without the order. Nevertheless, worth popping in if you're around!
A. M.
The sushi is surprisingly good quality considering the amount you get (it really is a lot).
I like the ordering style and how the food is delivered in staggered rounds. You’re never really without food for too long because there isn’t much waiting time.
This place is perfect for groups of 4+ and I think you get even more value for your money with the more people you have. I don’t think I’d ever choose to go here in a small group of three or less.
C.
A nice, spacious restaurant. I love the concept of an "all-you-can-eat" sushi restaurant! Kyoto Sushi & Grill have a vast menu consisting of sushi and grill dishes as well as rice and soup dishes so you really do get a real good mixture for the set price you pay! If you want to order something that is not included in the set price of the all-you-can-eat menu, then you may have to pay a little extra for each item. Overall, everything is fresh and tasty so I would highly recommend!
M. H.
Food was really nice but this place struggles to manage large parties. Food orders were served but left up to us to work out what each piece was.
Also the full 4 rounds were not delivered within our 2 hour slot as the waiting staff didn't return for the last 30 mins. They were courteous enough to do a part refund though.
Cannot fault the food quality though.
G. H.
All you can eat sushi at a fantastic price. The food is exactly what you would expect for the price - really lovely and tasty, but doesn't have that wow factor as if you were spending a lot more on sushi. Alcoholic drinks are expensive. I have been twice and both times I have found the staff to be really pleasant. You have to pay for anything you don't eat - which I think is fair enough really.
N. B. M.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The place is a little pricey, but it's worth it. The food is great and cooked fresh. I always love dining here. There's quite a variety of food on the menu, something for everyone. 10/10 would recommend the experience.
W. L.
Freshest food experience in Birmingham. Piping hot to your table, made to order sushi & grills. Great value for money even if service was slow. The food made it worthwhile to wait. You can eat as much as you like within a 2 hour time period. The place was busy when we arrived for early dinner service...think about booking in advance.
S. K. (.
Great sushi and bento and more from Japanese cuisine. Very friendly tentative staff. Highly recommend to any sushi lover.
E. A.
food was better than I expected and the atmosphere and staff were also lovely. Definitely go for the all you can eat option for £21pp. Bought separately, the small dishes can rack up quite a high bill so best be careful with that. Will definitely come again.
M. c. (.
Very good quality sushi, and good choice. Good value (all you can eat), everything is made fresh to order.
Including hot (tempura/grill etc) items.
They did forget our drinks however it was very busy so we understood.
I think the only improvement would be to maybe make the atmosphere a little more relaxing.
Recommend. Would visit again!
M. R. (.
Wow! Never before had sushi or even tried Japanese culinary delights at all so I went along with my party with some trepidation - I needn't have been concerned. The restaurant was inviting & beautifully furbished, clean & welcoming. We were shown to a table within a couple of minutes & the table service was superb. It was definitely an experience as we chose time & again from the extensive, all-you-can-eat menu offering both sushi (which was actually really nice!) & lots of other cooked meats & vegetarian dishes. And it was exceptionally good value. Well worth visiting - can't wait to go again!
C. O.
Great food and pleasant place. I really nice sushi.
A. R.
Did the £22 per person unlimited menu. Great because you really can get as much as you want. You order in rounds and can get 5 dishes per person per round. Portion sizes are very small so you can try everything. Veggie choices are easily marked our but not vegan. Tastes fresh and like food quality food. All I would say is that there is a time limit - don't expect the staff to come and collect your order, you'll have to get their attention each round.
K. W.
All you can eat for 21.80 plus 10%service charge was a good deal. Excellent service, the food was great and a variety of options. The menu said free scoop of ice cream per person but there was no option for this on the ordering card and didn’t get offered any. Only had two rounds very filling so don’t make the mistake of buying drinks. There is a charge for any left overs so felt had to finish all the dishes and a bit rushed given two hour window to order.
C. P.
Really yummy sushi! Plenty of variety to chose from on the menu. I visited with my sushi loving children (aged 4 and 14) and not-so-sushi loving husband. My husband was happy with the variety of non-sushi cooked options. For the four of us it was not a cheap meal (but no family meal involving sushi is going to be cheap!). However for a sushi meal it was very good value for money! We will be visiting again.
R. U.
Best place that I ever ate sushi at. The service is amazing, the staff is great and very polite. For the past 2 years, I have visited once or twice a month. Great price for the all-you-can eat food. I cannot wait to go again.

This is our favourite sushi restaurant in Birmingham. We've been on numerous occasions and never been disappointed with the quality, range or value. Indeed, it's excellent value for money. So how it works is, you get 4 rounds of 10 dishes, choosing any dishes from the extensive menu consisting of sushi, soups, noodles, teppanyaki and desserts (not that many dessert options however). Food arrives promptly and has always been of good quality. Whenever we are in the city centre and in the mood for sushi, this is our first choice.

Kyoto was pretty easy to find from birmimgham new street station. I love sushi and being a sushi lover I'm pretty much aware of the different types of sushi quality different restaurants have to offer.
The service was great from the time we entered. We didn't have to make a reservation, we just walked in and Got seated in 2-3 mins. The staff explained how it worked and were really friendly.
We had 2 hours to sit down and order as much as we wanted (exceptions on dessert).
The food was good. I personally think its great to try for £21.00 but as a one off because the I found that the tempura size was tiny (Just the mini prawn fried) but you could order unlimited so that shouldn't be a problem. However, I didn't feel the freshness in the California rolls and the crab sticks. Overall it was great, I may be picky as im a big fan of sushi but honestly this place is really good.
The food comes very quickly to your table when you order (less than 5 mins).

This is a great sushi place with a wide dlecetion of food to choose from. The £25 price for "All you can eat" food may seem a bit expensive to some but it is very well worth the price for the quality of food provided. The only downside I have to this restaurant is that when I went, halfway through the meal I asked for a glass of water. And asked 2 more times before we left but within that 30 minutes I never got my glass of water. But other than that this is a great restaurant with great food and a very nice atmosphere.

We called in here 25 minutes before our play at the Hippodrome was due to start. We were assured that they could feed us in time - and they did! The service was friendly and super efficient. The sushi we had was excellent - shame we didn't have time to spend trying different dishes. Would definitely recommend.
G. W.
Have been coming to this restaurant for a few years and I love every chance to come back.
Each time the phrase we find ourselves saying is 'i forgot just how good the food is here!'
The service is amazing, the staff are so warm and helpful and the variety of food is great. Even my mum, who doesn't eat sushi, loves coming here.
M. H.
Fresh&Delicious Food,Nice Service...Strongly Recommend...!!!
C. C.
Great food, cozy atmosphere. I prefer the cold dishes over the fried ones. Pace yourself if you go for the all-you-can-eat - go slower or order fewer than 5 courses per wave, otherwise you'll be pretty much full by the third one!
M. M.
The best sushi in all bham 😍🍣🍤
N. K.
well worth it!! delicious
my boys loved it
recommend anyday
D. B.
Good service, excellent food. I've been a few times and tried everything on the menu. Great quality, fresh ingredients. Good value for the variety of food you get. Would recommend!
A. T.
Great Sushi place. Second time there and will go again next time I am in Birmingham
B. S.
Really enjoyed eating here, the all you can eat has loads of food options and is pretty cheap considering what you can have. I got to try loads of things I have never tried before and I really enjoyed the food. All of the staff are really friendly and ordering and everything was explained really well. I would definitely go again.
L. K.
Amazing service and delicious sushi! We came here only having 30 minutes before the theatre performance and waitress totally understood it and did her best to serve us our food as soon as possible. We got our sushis within minutes and they were amazing!! Definitely recommend this place!
S. P. (.
My favourite sushi place. They also do a fantastic lunch menu for a really good price. Its unlimited but you order before hand so everything is made fresh. It's a bit expensive for the unlimited menu but it's great value for money. This place is a must for a sushi lover.
H. R.
Good food and fast service. They used to have a buffet menu before but it has changed to order what you would like.
L. N.
Bloody good place. I highly recommend the Unagi (Eel Handroll) and Curry Balls; It was my first time having real sushi and it was some of the best food I have ever tasted in a long time.
The only sad thing is this place is so far away that I can only visit on my trips to birmingham... But that is probably also good for my wallet too to be fair.
We didn't worry about the staff they were really polite to us. They cooked our food in a timely manner even when we literally only had an hour to eat it. We managed it... All 4 rounds of it... And would we eat here again. Absolutely.
P. G.
Love this place! Great fresh food, very tasty great choice! staff a bit confused with orders and you could wait a bit for your food to arrive. But I will be back soon!
R. P.
The best place to eat sushi and other Japanese food in Birmingham. You can order individual dishes or the buffet menu. The food is always fresh and of very high quality. The staff are helpful if you are not sure about the food. We go regularly.
A. F.
All you can eat sushi and Japanese cuisine prepared on demand, service is quick and efficient. The sushi, rolled on demand, are very fresh indeed. A wide variety on the menu to suit most, including veg diet and children. The smaller portion is ideal for sampling different items on the menu, which also include desserts. The green tea ice cream at the end was a fitting conclusion to a satisfying experience.
B. W.
If I could eat here every night, I would. Particularly recommend their curry dish, but everything here is fresh cooked and great. Expect to spend a couple of hours here, especially at busy times. It's a place for friends and conversations, with food appearing suddenly and always looking amazing.
D. J.
We loved it here and we felt it was great value. Be careful about the left over policy as they charge a wastage fee which they didn't tell us, but I would rather pay a little more and avoid this extra cost. The thing I like about all you can eat restaurants is that you can try different things and if you dont like it you can happily leave it, but here, they charge you as wastage.
M. J.
Oh my god what a lovey place and a fantastic meal. Probably ate too much but everything was so nice. The serving pace is good and you can try so many dishes as well as sushi I was in my element. Was my birthday lunch. But if you like freshly made sushi and dishes this is the place. Less than £50 for drinks and everything. Highly recommend if I didn't make it clear.
O. I.
Awesome concept!Food is fresh, authentic and delicious. They are very attentive to their muslim customers as they have halal food and they have non alcoholic alternative sauces which illustrates how much they care about their customers!I loved the place and it wasn't expensive at all. You get your money's worth.
S. C.
More interesting than a standard meal with one dish but the quality isn't amazing and it's quite expensive if you aren't into massive portions, £25 for all you can eat. Having said that, I've been loads of times because I like the variety and it's something a bit different.
H. G.
I eat here a lot since I work nearby. I have to say the service is always good and they keep the place clean all the time. Prices are convenient and they serve large portions.
s. s.
Really nice. Food is fresh and amazing.
D. D. (. C.
GREAT food from the sushi to the desserts! Very friendly and patient staff that will welcome you genuinely smiling. We have been in Birmingham two days and for two days in a row we choose to dine here!
V. T.
Very friendly staff. We went at lunchtime, the menu is really extensive . The shrimp ramen is super tasty, so is the chicken udon and we also tried 6 pieces of sushi (uniagi, salmon and veg) which was fresh and delicious too.
I would highly recommend!
k.
Visited Kyoto on a Sunday evening when we had a craving for Sushi. Had heard numerous times about an all you can eat sushi place, and one that was Halal, meant I should definitely give it a try. Halal status is confirmed by staff and certificate next to the till. Do ask for the halal menu, it’s the same as the normal menu, but they cross out the food you can’t order.
Nice clean restaurant, with helpful staff. Food is lovely and filling, loved the Maki rolls!! (17-21 on the menu) also the corn soup is tasty.
The menu comes, and you order upto 5 dishes per round, there’s unlimited rounds in the 2hrs, just depends how much you can eat.
Definitely worth a visit
P. G. (.
First time me n my friend tried it, amazing food, great customer service and really filling plates of food.
Plenty of choices to choose from on the menu so it was difficult to make decisions.
The staff was really friendly and very helpful and organised.
The service charge was included in the bill so there was no confusion of how much tip to leave at the end.
Definitely going back again soon.
R. M.
The place was nice and a bit crowded, many people had reservations and we were without and had to wait a bit, but it was worth the wait. The food was very good and we liked the order system. The food came fast and we liked it a lot. The staff was very friendly..
M. W.
Fantastic sushi, really fairly priced and each member of the staff was extremely well mannered and polite.
N. K.
The service was good and didn't have to wait very long for the food. All of which was very nice and well prepared. Good system so you don't waste food. Order 5 items per round per person. Lovely atmosphere. Would definitely go back!
A. V.
Nice and clean. Menus are a bit confusing if you are not familiar with the cuisine. The table was small and we struggled to fit all the different portions on it, could do with putting all the food ordered on larger plates instead of many small plates. Friendly staff.
A. S.
Amazing food. It's an all you can eat, but you place an order off a menu instead of it being buffet style, so good is always freshly made. Lots of delicious sushi but also a wide choice of other foods for people who don't eat sushi
J. A.
Food was amazing! Served quick and staff is super friendly. Would recommend to anyone who loves Japanese food... LOTS of it!!!! I was fully stuffed by the end of round 3 out of 4 rounds :O
E. L.
Amazing food and a great price for what you get. The all you can eat menu is quite extensive and it's all made fresh. The staff are polite and friendly and quick with the service. Always clean and looks well looked after.
R. C.
Amazing value for money, delicious food and friendly staff!
H. W.
An all you can eat in 2 hours of Japanese food and Sushi. I've been many time and the food is incredibly delicious and always fresh. The only bad thing happened was someone knocked the staff and soy sauce spilt on my friend, luckily you couldn't even notice but as an apology we all got free beers, you couldn't ask for better customer service to go along with the great food.
T. P.
We had the all you can eat buffet. 90% of it was ok with a few bits that were good. Nothing was amazing. I think you could get better value easily within china town. Asahi draft was a plus and the service was good.
N. R.
Great place. Great variety of dishes. Sushi was lovely also the soup I tried. Bottom line I would really recommend it and would come back.
A.
Fantastic, can't wait for an excuse to return. For £21.80 I feel I got great value from their all you can eat. Sushi was great and hot dishes too.
P. G.
Great food with friendly and attentive staff. You pay a set price to order in rounds off a menu. They say there's a limit of 2 hours but this is plenty of time to fill up and try lots of different foods. I would recommend pacing yourself, as the temptation is to order loads of food on the first round.
T. P.
Anything they make in the grill is amazing!!! Sushi could get a bit of an upgrade but for an all you can eat is pretty decent, will definitely go again, one of my favourite places for a night out for sure.
I. R.
Good environment with good quality food, you pick from the pictured menu and write what you want ordered and they bring it fresh to you, with you able to have as many order rounds as you like. The only issue I have is the price as it is around £25 per person, which makes it slightly expensive, I would go more often if it was cheaper and priced at the £18-£20 mark
R. Y.
Had a really great selection of sushi and hot Japanese dishes, as well as very friendly service. We left very full but satisfied - can't wait to go back!
M. M.
Perfect sushi and really good customer service.
A. W.
Very average sushi with a relatively high price point. Also they have an unnecessary 10% service charge rather than just stating the price. Overall adequate if you just want a lot of sushi.
N. D.
Food was very nice and the staff were great. Really good place to try sushi as they also offer lots of other grilled food. Went with a group and the staff were more that accomodating with the people that required Halal food, cooking everything separately for them.
T. M.
Food was amazing but the toilets were discussing. No toilet paper, water and papers on the floor. And blood on a toilet seat 😣 Clearly there's no staff checks being done for them. Even when I told them nothing had been done. Couldn't even use them, had to hold it till I got home (which is an hours drive)
A. W.
Delicious, absolutely amazing food, can't fault the speed of the service or the staff there, will absolutely be going back again and again. The sushi is wonderful, the grill is heaven, I could happily spend hours just eating the pork dumplings
A. R.
Only wish there were more grilled and fried fish items on the menu and maybe better desserts. Apart from that no complaints. Everything is exceptional including service!
マ.
Decent Chinese run Japanese restaurant. We were a bunch of lads and they seated us well away from other customers then apologised when they realised we weren't ruffians! They do all you can eat but we chose individual items which meant our meal was the same as the all you can eat offer but with beer and sake included.
D.
Went here for a friend's birthday. I loved all the food and the ordering system was good - it gets a bit hectic when you have a lot of people but it wasn't bad enough to sour our evening, I'm guessing it would be brilliant for a date night!
S. G.
Sushi was delicious and service was excellent. Tried the curry as well but I've had it much better somewhere else. Price is 21 for all you can eat.
R. W.
Great food, super nice staff, constantly fantastic mood. They charge reasonable pricing and the food quality is awesome. Keep it up.
P. W.
We are from Canada, where all-you-can-eat includes sashimi so we were surprised that sashimi was not included but could be purchased separately. It was our first time visiting the UK so perhaps that is the norm?
Either way, the restaurant offered a large menu selection. The food was good but not great, portion size was decent, sashimi was fresh but everything was served lukewarm. There are certain items that should be served hot, like miso soup and gyoza but were lukewarm, which affects taste. Some of the items also did not meet expectations. For example, the tempura ebi was a curled shrimp covered in flour (NOT tempura) batter and deep fried.
Service was mediocre. We requested a small bowl and two teaspoons so our kids could split the udon soup and that took 5 minutes. Servers were a bit slow in clearing our empty plates to make room for more food. Ice cream was served before the hot food items when we ordered a second round.
All in all, it was just okay.
I. G.
The best sushi and grill restaurant in Birmingham! Food was amazing, great variety of choice and the sweet buns for dessert are moorish. They even have a halal menu!
S. L.
Hands down, the best place in town for 'sushi' , good value for money, my sister makes a special trip from Weston Supermare to eat here as it is that good. But don't go if you aren't hungry. Something for everyone.
R. H.
Excellent sushi.
£19.80 per person. Order 10 items total per round (if dining as a couple) from the large selection on the menu. Those 10 then get delivered to the table (some take longer than others, curries for example) and then when you have eaten, fill the next column up with your choices. Your order gets collected and the cycle repeats.
Really recommend the hand rolls and squid rings. The gyoza are also probably the best I have had.
Our katsu curry got lost in the orders, but we had plenty of other things to eat.
Overall, very good. Worth calling for reservation though, we had to wait 30 minutes for a table when arriving at 8pm on a Saturday, without a reservation. On the plus side there is a Wetherspoon's next door.
T. B.
Great place. You can order 5 items per person per round and have as many rounds as you can fit in two hours. The service is fast and the staff are friendly. Food is very good. I highly recommend.
i. P. (. K.
Great service, great food, we couldn't fault it! We went with the lunch menu, a bargain for the quality and the amount we got! Definitely expect big portions. Probably the best Japanese in the Arcadian
T. B.
Amazing food and lovely staff
M. E.
I've never had a bad meal at this restaurant! All you can eat sushi plus a variety of other dishes for just under £22.00 per person. So worth it! 😀
r. w.
Food excellent , lovely people 😍🙂
W.
All you can eat, good service (Was allowed to stay there for over 2 hours), lovely food all fresh and you can even see the sushi being made. Overall great value and yummy!
p. l.
It's good. Food is delicious for the price. Totally worth it <3 10/10 will come here again. Staff very friendly too
K. S. C.
The price is cheep. One of the cheepest sushi restaurant in europe I ever visited. But you should not expect high quality food here. I had lunch menus and some were good and some were not. Especially I was disappointed by Udon noodles.. Sad but nice place to have some sushi.
D. M.
Good variety of dishes, swift service.
M. G.
We enjoyed dining here! All you can eat service with amazing selection of foods. Every dish is served with just the right amount to avoid waste. Fully recommend this for sushi
L. J.
Been here since it opened up, been coming here for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries. A bit pricey nut worth it for the quality of food and service. Keep up the great work guys!
B. J.
Serves really good food, on a Saturday night the ambient noise level was too high for relaxed conversation, the waiters had difficulty coping with large numbers of dishes for a group of nine people and we sometimes did not get the dish ordered, I think they would have coped better with a table of four.
S. C. (.
Very good place to eat. As this is an all you can eat you will not walk away feeling still hungry. The selection also includes hot dishes and soups besides just sushi.
P. S.
Amazing food, service. Friendly staff. Great value for money. We have been there twice in as many months and going again next month. Can't wait 🍣🍤 yum yum
M. B.
Had a really nice meal here with my family. The sushi was very tasty and there was a excellent selection of dishes. My children who are 12 and 8 enjoyed the meal too.
k. w.
Brilliant experience Brilliant staff very understanding we were busy eating and realised we were going to miss our train if we didn't hurry the staff let us get take out for our deserts not normally allowed, thanks to this we ran and managed to get our train home 😄😄 our favourite place to eat in Birmingham 😄😄 thank you for a great dinner!!
J. M.
Great value for money on great fresh sushi and Japanese food. Efficient, friendly service. Visited a number of times and will be visiting again.
L. W.
This was was mediocre in terms of quality what I really didn't like was the fact they automatically put a service charge on the bill! When confronted about it we were told all restaurants do it.. we said no they don't we are not in America! We eat out alot and we don't usually ever have a charge added to the bill....so just for the awkwardness we'd rather not eat there
G. Z.
lots of options with small plates. so you won't get full easily as you can choose more. me and my friend had four rounds of 10 dishes each. love the plum wine it offered.
R. B.
Delicious food, and friendly, helpful Staff whi were happy to explain how their all you can eat worked, as this was my first visit.
Really impressed, and I'll definitely be back!
M. K.
Went here for the first time today after weeks of having a craving for sushi. I was definitely satisfied and truly stuffed by the end of it. Will be visiting again in the near future.
S. F.
I love Kyoto Sushi. Wide range of sushi and other options. Pleasant staff. Well kept surroundings. Also all you can eat for a reasonable price.
C. G.
Great sushi buffet for £20! The food comes out in rounds rather than a conventional buffet so the sushi comes out fresh and to order. The staff are attentive and it's worth a visit if you are a sushi lover.
R. B.
Great value, comprehensive menu, really friendly staff & fast service. Our daughter's & wife's favourite - and now ours too.
T. A.
Best sushi buffet I've ever had
The staff here are super friendly and are always happy to help, they made us feel really welcome and there were always lots of staff on hand for when we needed to order or had queries
The food is also great value for money and is very tasty
The decor is very nice and done to a very professional standard
M. W.
Incredible all you can eat sushi restaurant. The food is prepared really quickly and it's good quality, plus eat as much as you want, just order on the sheet. Clean restaurant and toilets, friendly staff.
W. E.
So much sushi! Great food. Polite and friendly service. Good value for money. Clean restaurant. Well worth trying.
S. R.
Great food, reasonable price, left stuffed to the gills with sushi. 10% service charge in tiny print on back of menu is a bit sneaky as they don't verbally tell you...
l. t.
Fantastic fresh sushi, amazing hot dishes. Would definitely recommend the all you can eat service, £20 PP well worth it. Already planning another visit!
L. L.
Not much of a queue. Decent selection of sushi, sashimi and hot food. Seafood is fresh. Seaweed is crunchy. Staff is helpful n happy to accommodate salad cream free dishes.
A. D. W.
Being coming here for years and never been disappointed by the food or service. Would highly recommend this if you want some proper tasty Sushi.
A. B.
If you want good quality fresh sushi and lots of it, this is the place to go! They are fast and the food is good! Hidden gem!
B. D.
The place for sushi. What an excellent concept. Fixed price. Eat as much as you want and it's all the real. Great service and great food
T. T.
This Japanese Restaurant has amazing fresh made sushi. You order using a order form, each order will then be freshly made and served on the table. What they offer is amazing for this price and the staff is really nice. Personally I think it's the best Japanese restaurant in Birmingham. Price quality wise they are unbeatable.
recommended dishes:
Spiderroll (sideorder has softshell crab in a roll, super delicious)
Sweet egg buns (Yummy)
Salmon handrolls (the crispy roasted seaweed is very nice)
I highly recommend anyone to give this Japanese restaurant a try!
A. J.
Absolutely stuffed with delicious delicious sushi. All tasted great, reasonable price, staff were friendly. Loved it.
Y. A.
Great value for money on the food side of it. Staff always helpful. Drinks abit pricey. Great atmosphere, lots of differemt tastes and textures tried
D. C.
The sushi buffet is great here, it has a wide variety of different dishes, i would recommend, probably one of the best sushi buffet in birmingham. friendly and helpful staff :)
R. I.
It was wonderful!!! I can't wait to go back. The food was great quality and all the staff was attentive and prompt. One of the best restaurants in the city.
S. H.
Yummy meal here. Enjoyed the evening. Good service generally although a couple of requests were missed so had to ask multiple times.
N. B.
Amazing place! Really good food ! All you can eat! Also, you have to pay extra for the food you do not eat therefore this stops wasting and from overestimating how much you can eat! Really good restaurant!
R. M.
Absolutely brilliant would definitely recommend it to anyone, the ramen was the best part for me and the beef skewers were delicious will definitely go again. Friendly staff too
N. G.
Amazing food! 🤩
D. S.
Awesome sushi restaurant and great way of ordering food thats different from other places.
Just dont order too much food just in case you dont eat it all, as all sushi served is freshed and prepared daily.
D. S.
Food is really good, as good as I've had in Japan. Even better it's fresh and all you can eat, so no worries about what to eat and how much it costs per plate. Just eat what you like and enjoy.
L. B. E.
Very good restaurant, we always take the all you can eat option, plenty of choices, sushi great quality, quick Service and friendly staff
R. T.
Love this place! Have been a number of times and each visit has been excellent. Great food with attentive and swift service.
C.
Quick service and friendly staff, not particularly cheap but not too bad really. I explained my dietary requirements and they made a modified menu for me, and apologised for the lack of choice - there was still 9 things to choose from though, definitely not a lack of choice! Would go again.
S. M.
Lovely food. Hot food were served piping and the cold were proper cold. Good service too! Fast refills.
M. M.
Wide variaty of dishes, all you can it is totally worth it! The sushi is very good as well as the other dishes and the place is very nicely decorated 🙂
J.
This is now my favourite place to eat, I could not ask for more than this venue provides in all honesty, not too flashy or excessive but enough to make you feel like you are having a nice meal out, I would recommend this restaurant as a great place to eat, any evening.
A. A.
Great food and price. The ordering system is genius in comparison to other buffets.
H. N.
Fabulous! Great value for money, make sure you come very hungry! The chef is great. This is an excellent formula for a Japanese cafe!
D.
Absolutely amazing Japanese food, brilliant survice, and overall just a great type of all you can eat!
N. J. H.
Sushi and grills are good and fresh.
Their rice dishes and ramen are however pretty disappointing.
Would recommend to go for the buffet rather than the lunch menu
S. E. D. L. C. B.
Really good food, the price is good and lovely attention
M. E.
Great food and excellent service. The kids love it too. We've been a number of times and will be back again.
H. A. F.
Very good place. The place is quite expensive but I'd still recommend it. Maybe they can get more feet if they dropped the prices. But really good place still. Service is good too
A. Z.
Decent price, quality isnt the best but is all you can eat
C. F.
Great all you can eat restaurant. The food was realy good.

Fantastic food as always, did have a hickup whereby our ticket got lost and had to wait 30 min but we got the meal half price as an apology which was much appreciated
R. M.
Great food. Good size portions and attentive staff. Certainly going back.
L. L.
Good value for money with their buffet range. Deco needs a freshen up though. Service is speedy.
G. S.
One of my go-to spots to grab something to eat. good location, well kept, and excellent customer service. Very good job!
B. D. C.
Portion size are enough for one person which is good. Food is good, not sure how fresh is the fish.
Price is a bit too high.

Fantastic service and food. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Had a great experience.
C. C.
I tried this spot once with a friend and I am obsessed ever since. I loved the awesome character and tasty food and beverages. Great work.

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Inviting and warm staff. Overall a good experience!

The food was nice and the price is very reasonable. Only thing we didn't like was the duck. The gyoza were a highlight.

Amazing quality for a buffet style restaurant. Great staff, very friendly. Oh, and the restaurant itself is beautiful.
M. K.
This is my all time favourite sushi place. Highly recommended, even if coming here requires a long trip.
R. Y.
Great service, good quality sushi for an all-you-can-eat place. Highly recommended.
PS. For the best sushi in town, my favourite would still be Sushi Passion near Snow Hill.
A.
Like Yo Sushi but with an all you can eat and as a fat man I was not disappointed. Highly recommended
S. J.
Lovely atmosphere! However, the food can be quite salty and the staff always takes my food before I finish it...
J. F.
My first time following a recommendation from work colleagues. Sushi and hot food offerings were very good. Would recommend.
H. C.
Great place for all-you-can-eat sushi and a wide variety of other items on the menu

Amazing, lovely staff, brilliant food! Love the way it works with the checking off on a list what you'd like!

This place is the best, great value, food is perfect, staff are friendly and helpful. We'll worth a visit.

My go-to restaurant in the Arcadian. Guaranteed excellent service and assistance. The regular menu additions are a nice treat on top of the already expansive menu.

Nice place in the city centre. Delicious food at good price. My family enjoyed it very much.
V.
Lightning fast, friendly service, lots of staff about. Super fresh delicious food. You'll walk out with a full stomach!
