I've been recommending this place to literally everyone I know since visiting; it was so lovely! Slightly hidden away so it wasn't as busy as I'd expect, but the atmosphere was great, and the place itself is really lovely inside. The food was absolutely delicious with a very varied menu, considering the main fair is pancakes. The menu was really clear and had so much choice for toppings and themed stacks. The pancake was totally delicious, and I'm glad I took my friends recommendation and only ordered 1 because with the added toppings, it was actually pretty filling! I would also recommend the rosemary salt fries; they were so delicious we ended up ordering 3 extra portions (they're quite little)! I really enjoyed this place and will definitely be going back! The food, the service, and the restaurant itself were all fab! I'd definitely give it a go if you are looking for something new to try!

What an amazing place with a great interior and amazing staff. The food was delicious and fresh. There were so many options to choose from. The menu was really unique. I have never seen pancakes with so many different combinations. There were so many halal, vegan and healthy options too. We didn’t wait long before the order the arrived. Update: I went back again and got to say I wasn’t disappointed. It was really quiet but the waiter was really cool and friendly. If you are Edinburgh, must try place. It’s not expensive either.

Nice place and very decent food. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was tasty, even if I was slightly surprised the pancakes for savoury orders were sweet. I had the smoked salmon and avocado single, low-fat stack and it proved to be more than enough to satiate. My other half had to ask about allergens and the manager was very accommodating and willing to help. We were both happy with our food. The space is large and quirky, but to me it felt a bit odd that they, despite having windows to the outside, have opted to block them with the kitchen instead of allowing customers a view. I get it that it might have been an architectural necessity, but I'm very keen on a view. Another minor thing was their toilets, which were mostly out of order, and the one that was indeed working had no lock.

Tons of options, from strange savory combinations with the pancake to mouth watering sweet options. I got the biscoff pancake, it was quite sickly but was very nice. If you're looking for a good place to have pancakes, this is up there. The coffee was a bit disappointing. I got a mocha and the chocolate was very overwhelming. Overall very good place.

Great spot for a brunch. The selection of sweet and savoury food is fantastic and the best thing is the great staff and you can also build your own stack of pancakes. This is my favourite pancake place in Edinburgh.

Good stacked pancakes at New Town, with a wide variety of both sweet and savoury toppings to choose from. The pancake itself may not be the best for picky pancake fanatics, not that exact mind-blowing fluffy texture, but definitely a satisfying meal.

Lovely interior, very spacious and modern. Far too many options to choose from on the menu, not a bad thing. I went for a pick and mix style item. There's so many options you can choose to make your own combo, sweet or savoury or both. I felt it was a little expensive for pancakes. Update: I returned and had the Chipotle Pulled Pork stack, so good!

Beautiful venue inside and the food is so tasty - there are pre defined options or you can go rogue and choose your own combo (as you can see, I went for sweet and my partner for savoury). One thing to note is that the bottomless coffee was like dishwater- you're better off stumping up for a cappuccino etc.

Not cheap but very nice. Suggest you go with there suggested combos rather creating you own unless you know what you are doing. The Tikka pancake were surprisingly good. These are American style pancake not French. Two pancakes stake should be good enough for most people. And remember they don't increase the typing just because you order more pancakes. Check out the pictures. The loaded fry were great. GOOD PLACE for veggies and meat eaters. Service was ok, nothing special. Restroom were clean. Decor inside is nice. They sell the pancake mix if you want to try at home.

Really nice fluffy 'cakes! Decor was cool and service was super fast. I loved the fact you could have bottomless filter coffee - really feeding into the North American diner vibe! I got one single savoury pancake and one single sweet pancake - both were surprisingly good. Portions are very generous, couldn't finish both. My husband got a double stack and also had trouble finishing his meal. Our server was Abby, she was great - attentive without hovering. Would definitely visit again.

The restaurant decor is quite nice and I absolutely loved the pancakes. I ordered the short stack donner kebab option and found this to be very flavourful. Loved the buttermilk pancakes - they were nice and thick. I wasn’t able to finish it though so would probably opt in for the single or double stack the next time. Very reasonably priced and good quality. The service was lovely as well.

Love this place! Super dog friendly, amazing choice, shakes are very tasty. Can be pricey if you go all out but worth it, I'd recommend the 2 pancake stack as the amount of topping isn't any larger and the pancake to topping ratio is perfect with the double stack. Delicious pancakes, plenty of gluten free options and there's a great atmosphere. All but one staff member are lovely. -1 star for the staff member with black hair and white jumper, he appeared to have a need attitude and I don't know what we did wrong! He wasn't nice :(

I really enjoyed the pancakes here, thought they were delicious, especially if you like the American style. I have read the other reviews and can see where they were coming from. The staff seemed inexperienced and rushed off their feet, clearly more people are needed. I’ve taken 1 star off for that. The place is new and only recently opened so that may change over time. I’ll definitely go back and my kids loved the place too. Nice selection of savoury and sweet and the pancakes came really quick. The small touches like water, extra drinks, asking if everything was ok were missing. Give it time and it will get better. Looking forward to going back for a second visit and seeing the small improvements. Not the cheapest place but nice for a treat. I’ve added a picture of my receipt so judge for yourself. Top tip, go for the double stack rather than the triple which was too much….But the next time I go I’ll probably get the triple again!! 😄🥞😋

We had a lovely time at Stack and Still was super impressed with the menu lots to choose from. Different types of pancakes I went for the protein one with various toppings peri peri was a good choice and my other half chose the American stack.Dont forget the delicious milk shakes with sweet toppings on top.Staff and management were so lovely and the surroundings were very clean and eye catching.Will be back again to try out the sweet pancake selection, this place is certainly the one to enjoy whether its savoury or sweet.

It's ok... Not one I'd go out of my way for, but it's ok .... The food was fine with a wide variety of choices for all diets and taste buds... the younger members of the family thought it was great, but in the end, it's a pancake place with 'how many ingenious toppings' can we come up with for pancakes. Staff were good, nice atmosphere but it plays on more than it is. If you want to experiment with what to do with pancakes, or just have the normal type of stack, this is the place for you, quick, easy no thrills. If you want more jog on. PS the dirty fries, aren't dirty, mayo and cheese are not dirty fries...that's mayo and cheese!

Food was excellent and fairly priced. For this type of food truly delightful and will revisit. Would have gotten 5 stars but the waiting staff were sadly all over the place with little direction. Was there for 45 mins and could have had a 2nd course, but choose to get the bill as were sadly waiting for menus and drinks for nearly 20 minutes after quick and excellent service for the first course.

Popped in on a whim with my other half and our 2 year old and wasn't disappointed! Great menu selection, staff and atmosphere. The food came prompt and was delicious, our 2 year old almost cleaned his plate (Great sized portion for kids!). The only criticisms is that the coffee wasnt great. We got 2 x flat whites which were quite bitter (like the coffee was burnt) so I don't think I'd be keen to try out the Espresso Martini Bar if that's the coffee they use. Also, the door host at the rear was kind enough to advise there was an additional baby change/disabled toilet at the front entrance (the one at the rear was in use) but disappointingly the small corridor to access it was being used to store spare chairs and high chairs, part blocking the door (a parent with a buggy or wheelchair users biggest gripe!) then I realised after changing my toddler, there was no nappy bin and it's rude to stick a nappy in a sanitary bin... So I ended up carrying the dirty nappy outside to a street bin. I appreciate I could have highlighted this to a member of staff (I know how frustrating it is when customers don't speak up at the time, allowing the staff to rectify an issue) but I didn't want to walk back into the restaurant waving a dirty nappy about.

A good idea, but not executed to the highest standard. American style pancakes with a range of topping combinations, pre-listed or build your own. Pancakes come as singles, doubles or a stack of three. Two pancakes plus topping is likely to be more than enough for most people. Save the extra money unless you're absolutely ravenous. Seemingly a little short-staffed but friendly service. Rather loud inside. Not all elements of the pancakes served hot as one might expect, grilled peaches and roasted pears came out cold.

I bought a double stack of buttermilk pancakes and had some sweet sauces and creams on top. It tasted extremely nice. Sitting outside was relaxing and because of that the location could not have been better. Top tip: the pancakes are dry, so it's best to add some sauces. I think that the mix is supposed to be like this so that you are able to have lots of sauces, fruits and other bits and bobs on top without the whole thing turning to mush. If you come here, go big or go home basically.

I was really looking forward to my Stack & Still experience, I’d heard good things. It’s not easy to find because Google maps takes you to the Assembly Rooms on George St. It’s actually on Rose Street at the back of the Assembly Rooms. My teenage son and I went for breakfast on a Saturday morning at 9.30am. I booked well in advance but it was still very quiet so I don’t think it would be a problem to get a table for a small party for breakfast. The service staff were exceptional. They were so helpful when we arrived. After being seated they explained how to order. My son chose buttermilk pancakes with sausage and bacon and maple syrup. I’m coeliac so I went with the gluten free pancakes and double bacon. Simplicity and deliciousness. I’ve read in other reviews that the gf pancakes were chewy. Well, I love my pancakes thick and cakey so these were perfect imho. My only reservation was that they were a bit heavy on sugar and lemon juice. The lemon sharp after taste wasn’t pleasant with bacon and the sweetness with maple syrup just ended up being too sweet. Buuuuut it wouldn’t stop me from ordering more! I’d like to add that it’s very rare to get good food and coffee at the same time. The coffee was amazing! The venue is gorgeous, clean and comfy. It did feel a bit posh for pancakes but I’m Welsh so don’t take my word as gospel on this subject. I’ll definitely be back. I only live in Durham so a 2.5 hour trip for breakfast would definitely be worth it.

Lovely interior, nice staff and good variety on the menu. Considering all the premises and the look of the place, my friend and I found the food quite lower than all the rest. We both had the breakfast pancakes so can't compare with other things on menu however the problem was the actual pancakes : very dry, sticky and chewy... I had a look at the other tables seems the same: all the toppings are on top so it's like one big pancake as cannot separate them.

We were there between lunch and diner and the place was quite empty. The people were polite and welcoming and the food was great. You have a lot of choices for your pancakes, from salty to sweet. I did take a preselected dish (the chipotle pulled pork) and it was great. I would recommand the double stack for normal eaters.
