The food was mediocre. For example, we ordered the beef teriyaki. It had absolutely no flavor and tasted a bit burnt. The only saving grace were the Yo Fires. They were amazing. The environment felt clean and well maintained but the service felt slow. Everything seemed to take ages to get to us. Of course, we understand there is a bit of a shortage of staff right now which I am taking into account because I cannot fault the staffs professionalism. No one was moving slow or taking their time. I could see everyone was moving with purpose to provide the best service. However, when you go to a restaurant, you go for food and an experience. The flavor of the food wasn’t there, but the staffs work ethic was great, which is why I am only giving three stars. And Yo! should be grateful to their team for such a ‘high’ score.

Earlier this year review: Great food, stools were a little awkward as I'm short. But the food was amazing!! June 2022 update: I visited Yo! Sushi again last weekend (5th June 2022) and it was wonderful! I ordered a large katsu curry which I thoroughly enjoyed. My partner ordered prawn katsu and rice, which he liked. And he ordered two dishes of seafood sushi (right) and I ordered mochi ice cream dishes, as well as spicy katsu sushi )which is out of shot) which wasn't as spicy as last time, less sauce this time. But it goes beyond my expectations every time. ❤ thanks Yo!

Hadn't been for 3 years. We made a note on the reservation that one of us was unable to sit on the high stools which was ignored but after requesting again to the staff they were able to accommodate our needs and let us have a booth. Whilst on the one hand it is a shame that the food isn't on the conveyor belt anymore, being able to order on my phone is actually better. It meant I was able to track my spending a little better and I ended up trying dishes that I otherwise probably wouldn't have paid any attention too. All the food was fresh and delicious, although the sushi took longer to arrive at our table. We also ordered some sushi to go afterwards and it was actually better quality than those that we had dining in. My only real 'complaint' is that it's very crowded at the door with people waiting, especially when it's really busy and it would be good to see a better system in place for this.

We made a booking for 7:45pm, but on arrival were initially told the restaurant was full although it clearly wasn't. Upon showing proof of the booking we were seated, only to be told it was 'last orders' and to order everything we wanted at once. This would be fine but the website to order through didn't work initially, and after two attempts we had to make a manual order. Food arrived freshly cooked as soon as it was available, although we had to send the chilli squid back initially as it was burnt. First time we've ever been disappointed with a Yo! experience.

Our absolute favourite place to go out for any occasion. Simple quick lunch. A simple dinner. Or to entertain friends and family, romantic meal day or night. It never disappoints! This is our first visit to Leicester branch. Previously been Cambridge and Norwich for our locals. If anything Leicester was even better! Staff, warm, friendly, inviting, charming, helpful and knowledgeable. Wife variety of drinks from Saki to beers. Non alcoholic beverages a plenty too. Menu, as ever. Vast. Varied and always delicious! Combines the perfect amount of sushi to cooked (in from my of you! Fresh!) Choices. Vegan or vegetarian have vast choices too. But for me. It the seafood and sushi. Always delivers. Can honestly say, in 12 years of going to YO!(sushi) I've never had a bad meal, a dish I hadn't liked or anything to complain about! And it's not like I visit once a year. Minimum once a month myself and my wife and friends and family attend. No where else I can say that about! Let alone somewhere I use so often! Don't ever change YO! Leicester YO sushi! Well be back VERY soon!

Lovely branch - me and my friends have been ordering Too Good To Go (which I think is an amazing initiative and it's great that a big chain like Yo takes part in it) from there for the past few months and each time they were very generous and always gave us high quality food, amazing value for money (I can especially recommend the inari taco and blossom roll, very unique and always tasty). Recently the staff went out of their way to find anything they could when they did not have much left over after the day and that was just so kind on their part. We also visit the branch for celebrations and can confirm that the service and food is great even then :) Cannot recommend more!

Absolutely love this place, it's next door to a wagamamas but I prefer this, better choice and variety with the option of larger dishes if you want them, the fairly new fries are really nice! Salt pepper squid, chicken katsu curry your typical sushi dishes, all are cooked to perfection and presented very nicely. Come here once a month at least!

Did the sushi school today. We both had great fun. Nice small group (10max.). Lots of laughs. 8 different types of sushi demonstrated to 'try' to replicate! Plus massive bag of sushi to take home with us! 'sushi master' was good fun and manager friendly. Give it a go!

Me and my friends went here when they were offering 1/3 off for students and I was not disappointed. The food was really good, sushi was good, good service. The restaurant is also well located among all the other food restaurants in highcross. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I do think it's a little overpriced for what it is and I wouldn't go without such a discount.

Went in during a quiet lunch time. Firstly, very good covid-safe system. The dishes are sent to you via conveyor belt, NHS track and trace app was enforced on the door, and orders were done via phone app too. Great! Ordered a £30 set meal for 2 with student discount. They forgot to give us 3 things (rice, miso soup and edemame beans) although the difference was gracefully refunded. The food itself was fairly consistent with chain Japanese style dining. Would go again for lunch.

We really enjoyed the platter, smoking tuna was it but a bit disappointed with the spicy seafood soup as found thin egg noodles instead of udon noodles. The cook who prepared it said it had been changed sometime ago and I wasn't informed about when I ordered. It has lost its authentic ramen soup. Please revert it back to udon. Thanks

Very clean, mostly quick service although some dishes arrived much faster than others. Seems quite expensive for what it is, as you need a lot to fill up. Some dishes were delicious, others were not so much. Not bad, I'd go there again but only order specific ones I know taste good.

The toilets desperately need a deep clean - the place is crying out for a refurb - the seats are all peeling and shredded, everything has a bit of a shabby, dirty vibe going on - the wheelchair toilet on the ground floor is utterly grim. The food (like everywhere) has gone up significantly in price and i will say, was still tasty. I couldnt stop thinking about how the same person 'cleaning' those toilets would be 'cleaning' the cooking and food prep areas. Such a shame its gone so downhill as I'm a huge Yo! fan :( x

I go to Yo sushi at least a couple of times a month. Every single time is a great experience. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. The food is amazing. The chefs have even come to ask if the foods good and always care. We've tried so many restaurants similar to Yo sushi but always return to Yo sushi as the dining experience is amazing.

Friendly, fun and trendy atmosphere! I nipped in for a quick bite during lunch in between store shopping and, being sat promptly, I was pleasantly surprised with a "Blue Monday" offer, which meant I tried things off the conveyor belt I wouldn't have usually tried. Some new dishes were on the menu too, which looked and tasted great! I was asked on a few occasions if there was anything else I wanted that perhaps wasn't on the belt, so very attentive staff. Having mainly been here before in the evening, this was one place I hadn't really thought of visiting during the day, but it was clean, tidy and buzzing with activity, even if only a handful of customers were coming and going. A great venue that will see me, friends and family again and again. Thank you Yo! Sushi :-)

This was the best sushi place ive been to in ages! The service was absolutely stellar, and the food even better! I’m not a Leicester Native so I don’t know many places in the city center but I’ve found myself coming back to Yo sushi several times now because it’s just the best I’ve had so far. I’ve been to the Birmingham branches and one in London but the Leicester one always seems to go above and beyond and really nails it. Definitely worth a try. Even if you’re not a sushi fan there’s something for everyone here!

So I've been here twice now and both times I've enjoyed the food First time was enjoyable as it was a whole new experience. 2nd time round it wasn't as enjoyable but the food was still very good. Ordered some large order meals as it's cheaper than grabbing little ones of the conveyor. On the whole, it's a place I'd probably go once in a blue moon due to the cost. Definitely recommend going if you haven't been before as it's fun and the staff here are great. I've given it 3 and not 4 as it's just not somewhere that pops into my top 10 places to go out to eat. It's on a rare occasion I would come back here. It was 2 years between visits last time!

Yo!Sushi is a great chain. Fresh food full of taste, caters for everyone - if sushi is not your thing, fear not and drop in anyways, there’s something for you whatever you like. I have visited most Yo! in the country and Leicester one is one of the favourite ones. Service is always quick and friendly, it’s always nice and clean inside, portions are a bit bigger than elsewhere, which is a little thing but matters. If you want your dish in a certain way - ask ahead and they will do their best to adjust it for you :)

This was my first time eating in at a Yo! as it was for a best friends birthday meal. At first thought of going I didn't have the best of expectations, however, my not-so-positive expectations went out the window as soon as we arrived! We managed to be seen within seconds of entering and the seating was nice and comfy, and ideally placed next to the end of the conveyor. The food was amazing, especially the Korean fried chicken which was divine! I think I ate roughly 6 plates of food and had a couple of drinks and I was definitely feeling full afterwards. I think people have a misconception of Yo! Sushi being high priced for what it is, but it's not until you eat in that actually, all the food is well worth it! They cook and prepare the food fresh practically infront of you, and the service you receive I cannot fault in any way. I would 100% go back again, and I would recommend anyone to try it if they haven't already, you won't be dissapointed!

Meal times spent at Yo! Sushi are always fun, no matter who you're with. The quirky Japanese business model is delightful. Just take what tickles your fancy from the conveyor belt, or order something specific from the menu. I hope you know how to use chopsticks! There are some authentic Japanese dishes and some funky spins on some fast food classics. The student discount is generous and the Miso soup is bottomless. They serve a range of drinks including some authentic Japanese beer. The staff are always happy to see you and the chefs prepare all the food in plain sight - it's all good quality, fresh food.

Great food. I really cannot emphasise this enough. Their tofu katsu curry and dynamite rolls are simply amazing. However we arrived at 20:30. Plenty of time for a nice relaxing dinner we thought. The restaurant is meant to close at 22:00. At 21:10 we were told it was last orders as the kitchen was closing. This seemed a bit odd, but there was still food on the belt, so we didn't mind too much. At about 21:15 the staff started deep cleaning the restaurant and kitchen around us, and removing items from the belt, which was really quite off-putting. We decided to call it a day, and headed home slightly hungry. Please don't let this review put you off eating there, as it's really really nice high quality food. Instead let it help plan your evening there, and mentally remove an hour from their listed closing times.

I always enjoy my meals here, I used to work in Leicester city and would eat here very regularly as they also provided a takeaway option too. It is not an inexpensive meal, though all sushi when prepared properly in such a restaurant is not a cheap meal, it is a very high quality and very enjoyable. The staff are also very polite and helpful, the system to call staff to order more food is a little bit new to a lot of people as it uses a tannoy to inform the staff. It also offers the conveyer belt system if you would prefer that instead of ordering, I have to say the takoyaki here is always amazing.

-This resturant is OK. -Most of the food ids nice, Yo Sushi have an amazing atmosphere and set out, its a great experience. -However, the staff are slow at taking our orders, perhaps as they're busy? but it happens often that we wait a while to order drinks once we have pressed the button. -I've chosen to give 3 stars and not 4 as i have an issue with the consistency o the staff. One gentleman took my DMU card as acceptable proof to give us a student discount and he also took my student code that i had received from the Yo Sushi website, however another gentleman did not except my university ID card as proper identification that i was a uni student he said he cannot be sure that my card is legitimate so must only accept NUS. I understand if you only accept NUS however, clearly you do not as the pervious man allowed us to us my card.

Its great place only for family snacking, not for proper dine out. The cheapest plate with real fish meat was £2.90 and the size of the meat was quite sad. The taste was ok, its all fresh as expected from sushi being consist of raw fish. Staff were helpful and the atmosphere was fun for kids and young adults. I'm not convinced its a good value for money. We spent almost £100 and later on had to pop by at takeaway for burger and noodles feeling peckish. Whilst we spent £110 at Yakinori sushi Birmingham, satisfied with selections of chuncky fish meat that was served.
