Reviews of Mamasons Dirty Ice Cream (Chinatown London)
J. M.
Love the ice cream and their buns! Filled with Ube and also other fillings like Milo and i forgot the other one, a touch of Filipino food. Although, they just have it on certain days, so you have to go there on the day they serve donuts with other flavour fillings aside from Ube. They also have a halo-halo, (mixed with Shaved ice, ice cream and other mixtures), Not really a fan of the halo-halo though. But overall it’s really good!
C. Y.
Really love this place as it includes my favorite flavor of ice cream (ube) into many of it's items. It's small but I love the vibe there and the esthetic. It's sweets are so very sweet and savory and comes with a lot of original filipino flavors which I love to see in the Chinatown area. If you are going for a quick snack and sit-down then this is the place to go! It's a really cute place and they offer a lot of sweets that you'll love especially if you were to bring friends and family there.
F. B.
Really cute place to get Ube ice-cream ☕ Prices are average for the area and the service is timely. Some seats on the inside available for dine in though can get quite busy at peak hours.
H. T.
If you like Filipino dessert, have a taste of their halo halo (you have to mix it), bilog, and ice cream!
Recommended by my Filipino colleague, great taste and if you ever have their ice cream, go for ube and queso (cheese) combination!
But it's a small shop, so be prepared to eat outside
M. Z.
Personally, I found it too sweet and unfortunately the staff misheard me and instead of ube bun I got milo (I'm not a fan of “chocolate” ice cream so I was a bit disappointed) but it definitely was unique.
t. c. F.
It’s fantastic to have Ube ice cream in the UK! It’s one of the best flavors in the world.
Halohalo is good as well!
Staffs are all lovely.
I hope the shop can expand their service (I mean get more seats) as there are lots of customers queuing ❤️
C. M.
This place is amazing. Such a great introduction to Filipino desserts. I will definitely be coming back. The service is really swift. I highly recommend the ube brownie.
k.
I had seen photos of their halo halo online and knew I had to try it next time I was in London, the photos don’t do it justice! The ube ice cream was delicious, it’s described as an “earthy vanilla” and it was a lot tastier than the vanilla ice cream I’m used to. The jelly at the bottom was also a delicious taste which i can’t describe but I loved. If you’ve never tried this dessert I highly recommend it!
Service was friendly and quick
M.
One of our favourite places to go in China Town, can get crazy busy during peak hours (which is most of the time in London!) but often worth the wait, the Ube milkshake and the black coconut ice cream is our favourites
A. A.
It was too crowded when we went there. Luckily, the Ube Milk Bun was worth the wait.
They have a variety of appetizing Filipino sweets and ice cream with not so common flavor options.
J. H.
A Filipino/Asian themed ice cream shop in Chinatown, London. Affordable. Friendly staff. A must try. Highly recommended.
K. T.
Tried the ube ice cream and ube brownie. Ube ice cream was one of the best I’ve tasted….. and I’ve tasted a lot! Ube brownie didn’t taste like ube… but it was still pretty good. Service was quite slow, considering all they had to do was scoop ice cream and plate an already made brownie.
F. B.
Ten of us caused havoc - looked like nice ice cream but everyone wasn’t too impressed. Messy way to eat it but that’s just fun ways of exploring food. I love eating with my hands anyway. Tight little street just past Ole & Steen
K. P.
Lovely Ube hot chocolate. Cream on top was amazing! This shop located on small street in China town surrounded by lots of cake, food, ice cream and milk tea shop. The service was quite slow probably because of the menu that I ordered. Definitely be coming back to try the other menu. Recommended!
S. S.
The signature Ube Bilog is worth the try, though bear in mind queues were quite long. The doughnut was nice too, though I would pass on the shakes. Gave it 4 stars; it is on the slight premium pricing though it warrants it via the novelty aspect. Having said that I would recommend trying the bilog and doughnut for different texture experience.

I miss the days of having Ube Ice-Cream at the Fillipino Hounslow fiesta and asked a Fillipino colleague at work where I could find Ube Ice-Cream and he told me about this place. I decided to visit (Thurs 27-05-21) and it's a nice little shop with nice ambience.
I decided to try an Iced Ube Latte. It was alright but the taste of Ube was subtle. However I will go back and try a shake as the flavour of the shake may be stronger. I wanted to buy a doughnut, but they didn't have any available and noticed the board says in "small" writing that they are only available on Fri, Sat & Sun. So I will go back and try a shake and hopefully get a doughnut. Nice little place, very popular.
Not cheap but you are paying for a delicacy that is not naturally grown in this country. Ube (Purple Yam) has to be imported but no grudges for that as it is a nice treat.
The shop is easy to find, its just off Newport Crt (a little alley with lots of bubble tea shops) just off the main road - Charing Cross Rd, main road that leads from Tottenham Crt Road past Leceister Sq station through to Traflagar Sq.
Follow Up (Fri 11/06/21) - I went back to try the Ube shake today and it was lovely. Subtle but could taste the light, natural flavour. Also on the board which is NOT advertised online are the doughnuts! In store it says doughnuts are only available FRI, SAT & SUN! I bought a Leche Flan and Ube doughnuts to try today. The Leche Flan one was delicious and really melted in the mouth. The Ube one was nice but I prefer in a drink/as Ice-Cream! I saw a guy with the Halo Halo and it looked really nice so I will be trying that next along with the Milo doughnut! Lovely little parlour and very popular!
Third Visit (Fri 02/07/21) - I went back to try the Halo Halo and Milo doughnut as well as wanting a Leche Flan doughnut as they are delicious. I ordered everything then when I got called to the front, I got told someone had ordered a box of the last 4 Leche Flan doughnuts so to choose something else, but I didn't want Ube as I prefer it as a drink/ice-cream so I asked for a refund. They seemed a bit put out but did issue a refund.
The Halo Halo consists of Jelly/Fruit/Some type of bean on the bottom followed by crushed ice with evaporated milk topped with leche flan piece and a scoop of ube ice cream with a choc curl wafer stick. I enjoyed the top part and middle bit but the bottom part was an acquired taste which I didn't finish.
I wanted to try the Milo doughnut to see what it tasted like. The doughnut itself is really delicious and soft/sugary but the milo is not chocolatey and very subtle in taste, however good to try everything once.
N.
The Halo Halo was delicious. Worth ordering the extra caramel flan. Great flavour and textures.
N. Y.
Finally tried this popular place and it's worth the hype. I tried the bilog with ube ice-cream. Loved the ube, unique flavor, sweet but not too sweet. The bun was really soft and fluffy. Want to come back and try more stuff!
K.
great lil fillipino dessert place. ordered the ube brownie with ube ice cream and an ube coco.
The ice cream was nice and light.
Brownie was nice and as it was warm, it was extra nice but only downside was the slight earthy (?) odd aftertaste I had which didnt occur when I had the ice cream or hot chocolate so dont think it was the ube flavour.
the ube coco was basically an ube flavoured hot chocolate /milk drink. was nice with a lot of whipped cream.
V. B.
Love this Filipino dessert place in China Town! Had the bilog with ube (earthy vanilla flavoured) ice cream. It’s a bit on the expensive side but the freshness and taste makes up for it. This place will definitely see me again!
J. L.
The shop is quiet small so there's limited seating. The service was swift and friendly so despite the queue, I was served very quickly. They have many options on their menu and the ice cream I had was very good, I highly recommend their Ube Milk Bun.
Y. C.
I ordered ube kape, regret for ordering it hot and would recommend get it cold. My drink didn't look as pretty for that very reason
(Ice cream at the bottom melted) and hot kape just very much tasted like hot chocolate.
A bit of disappointment but was mainly my own fault for making wrong decision.
They also have self service at the right of entrance.
A. B.
Delicious. Delicious. Delicious! I had the Bilog with Ube flavour ice cream. Very pricey at £6.50 but taste was good. Consider a fair price and not testing the the market will bear!
S. S.
Amazing experience. I would avoid the Halo Halo, slightly tasteless but otherwise the ice cream variety here is crazyyyy good omg. Bilog+++++
A. I.
Had the bilog with ube. A little too pricey but my craving was satisfied. Will probably return because I don't know of any other place that does good ube ice cream.
C. B.
I had a Kape Kulay iced coffee with Milo, and my sons tried some of the shakes, all of which were very nice. A perfect place for dessert after dinner at Jollibee.
A. A.
We had the halo halo desert only so can’t comment on the other options. The halo halo was a taste sensation with ube (purple yam) flavour ice cream, caramel flan (which was to die for - could have devoured a lot more of that!), cornflakes, shaved ice, and with jackfruit and coco de nata jelly at the bottom. Take your friends who love Asian flavours but are unfamiliar with these flavour combinations and they will thank you for being their friend!
S.
The Philippinos absolutely smashed it out the park with their 'Ube' flavour.
Delicious!! The menu was tasty. Place is small with not much seating.
We got there when it was quiet and managed to find a seat but by the time we left the place was heaving with lines out the door.
Well done to them. Glad they are sharing the amazing flavours of the Philippines 🇵🇭.
Staff didn't give the classic phillipino customer service they are famous for. Smiles were on the low I'm guessing because how busy they were. But all in still 5 stars for tastiness.
Price is central London standards.
Roughly £6.50 an item.
Pandesals were 5 for £3.
K. B.
Had the halo halo & the Bilog with ube ice cream and I can honestly say these were the best! Love them so much & would definitely come back for more !! Lovely staff x
L. B.
Everything on the menu is great. Been many times but if you trying it for the first time try anything with the purple sweet potato ice cream.
C. B.
Loved my experience here. Mamasons represents Filipino desserts perfectly and they definitely do them justice! The ube ice cream was so soft and was exactly what I’m used to in the Philippines. Will definitely be back!
M. C.
We spotted someone in the street with a Bilog and were intrigued so asked where they got it. Which is what led us to Mamasons. We both had a Bilog each, one with Ube (Filipino purple jam) and the other with the Black Buko(black coconut). They were a wonderful combination of warm soft dough from the pandesal, contrasted by the smooth, creamy ice cream with flavours that stand out from other ice cream places.
Before we left, we couldn’t resist getting a Halo Halo, so we got one for the road. It was unusual but enjoyable and would have been made much better had if not have been a horrible rainy day. We figured it would be perfect for a warm summers day, but probably won’t get it again. However we will be back for another Bilog!
L. S.
Very nice staff but the ice cream wasn’t for my taste. Find it okay and little expensive. Tried homemade Calamansi-Adi which tasted a little bit bitter and milo ice cream which again was okay but not for me.
A. O.
Lovely Milo Bilog. Milo was a staple growing up in Nigeria and the ice cream is definitely made from it . Got it as a Bilog and the milk bun is fluffy and tasty. A bit pricy at £6.50 but the nostalgia alone makes it worthwhile
T. W.
Super loved it! Highly recommend all their ube items if you are a fan of ube! The doughnut, bilog, ice-cream and Kape Kulay! However I wasn't too impressed with the Ube Coco. For £5, it was waaaay overpriced, in my honest opinion.
Y. H.
The halo halo taste heavenly and gives you a taste of tropical experience in the heart of London.
They have a big range of ice cream choices and desserts.
The halo halo (which literally means mix mix) cup has it all: ube ice cream, leche flan, milk, crushed ice, jack fruit, young coconut meat, sweetened beans, gulaman, and cornflakes.
It is the best place to taste the Philippines unofficial national dessert.
ア.
the ube bilog (toasted pandesal filled with ube icecream). I've never tried ube or pandesal before. The queue was really long, but I think it was worth it! The warm pandesal was crunchy in the outside but soft within, the icecream was still hard and tasted like earthy vanilla. It was delicous! This place is very expensive, but so good 😅! I'll come again to try other desserts. ^ ^
s. m.
Wonderful service, and really tasty ice cream buns. The flavours were nice and very unique with vivid colours. The outershell bread bun was beautiful but when I bit into the ice cream, my sensitive teeth took a beating.
I loved the thickness of the cream on the hot chocolate and very pleasing aesthetics.
It did become very busy with limited social distance so better control needed. A nice change from the bog standard ice cream flavours.
N. S.
Walked in only to be told they didn't have a freezer for their frozen menu items. Was just disappointed with the thing I ordered last moment. The staff looked over worked and the floor was all wet where they were working. Overall experience was meh.

I’ve been wanting to try @mamasonsdirtyicecream Leche Flan doughnuts since they launched it as limited edition during their 24 days of Christmas 🎄
It’s now part of their menu, permanently from Friday-Sunday.
The handmade doughnut had a creamy custard filling that wasn’t overly sweet which I appreciated given the doughnut was dusted with sugar. It had a thick, whipped consistency - exactly how you want a premium priced doughnut to feel & taste 🍩 topped with a soft caramel panacotta like topping which complemented the doughnut nicely from taste to presentation.
#Mamasons 🇵🇭 is quite busy during the weekend compared to the weekday though staff are friendly & service was quick and easy
All in all, a doughnut that delivers as advertised 😁
Leche Flan Doughut - £3.50
Overall I give an 8/10 🥰✨

Had the Ube filled milk bun, an old time favourite. Service was quick and the dessert was absolutely delicious as always. Will always whole heartedly recommend this place. Can't wait to come back.
M.
I love this place, I tried bilogs with queso and ube, brownie ube and kape kulay y every so tasty, awesome! I need more of this in my life. Totally recommend it.
A.
Ube for daaaaays!!! Was confusing at first when people lining up outside had already got their order from Mamasons. A few seating inside but worth coming here espcially for my ube fix!! Recently tried to brownie with ube ice cream 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
D. U. P. E.
It was a pleasure to treat myself with there very unique and tasty drink. I have tried their Ube milkshake and loved it so much. The stuff were really helpful. She asked me about my taste and preferences to suggest me there best drink according to my choices. I loved their service. It wasn't busy but they followed all the procedures for stop spreading the covid. Absolutely brilliant service, enjoy 😁
A. C.
Managed to visit when there wasn't a massive queue and it was great! The place has a great vibe, the staff are super speedy and the ube milkshake was delicious! I can totally see why this place is usually so packed.
A. M.
Great dessert spot. Love the Halo Halo, would be even better if the shaved ice was more fine and they had a couple more fun toppings.
S. S.
I went back to London for my two week vacation and went to Chinatown to see what’s new. I’m so happy that this place opened up! As a Filipinx, it was hard a few years ago looking for authentic Ube or taro drinks in London… Mamasons is one of those unique places that definitely gives you a real taste of Filipino desserts. Definitely try their ube smoothie and their ube or leche flan donuts! It’s so goooood! I’ll definitely miss this place.
o.
It’s true that the best is in the small things.
Brand new opening, and already a big success. Long queues and tasty food. They have ice cream, drinks, brownies and pies.
We went to try the ice cream of these new flavours that taste amazingly. We had an Ube and a Milo bilog once, and a couple of halo halo drinks Another day.
I must say the ice cream and the bilogs were amazing, in terms of flavours and texture.
The halo halo are also tasty but I would suggest to make it with less ice, because the drink is literally a 10/10 until the top part with ice cream, condensed milk, cereals and the biscuit leaves the place to only ice. There is basically 3/4 of the glass full of shaved ice that interrupts the joy of the top part, full of flavour and texture. Even if you would like to mix everything to bring the flavour down and keep it for all the length of the time to eat it all, the ice makes the flavour totally blend and disappear. At the bottom of the drink there are also tasty jellies. I Would say 10/10 for the top halo halo, 0/10 for the ice, 7/10 for the jelly. Try it if you want (you client), but I would recommend making it in smaller cups with less ice (for you seller)
L.
Great service and friendly staff. Place has a lovely atmosphere are relaxing decoration. The desserts are delicious. I recommend the Ube Bilog
M. A. T.
Legit Ube ice cream. Definitely tastes like home. The bilog (toasted pandesal with ice cream filling) is quite big which surprised me. Halo halo tasted great as well 👌
Y. N.
Definitely drop by and try the halo halo and Ube ice cream bao. You won’t regret it :)
A. M.
They were just okay in my opinion. I got the drinks that were recommended but they are just okay. Recommended to try and would love to go back to try its other menu but I personally dont like it.
L. !.
Their ube icecream is soooo good (I still don't actually know how to say ube, so I apologise to the dude at the till if I said it wrong as 'oobay') but it's a bit overpriced... this one scoop was £3...
S. W.
Great Filipino treats! I love the flavour of Ube and I am so glad I found a place that serves it. Perfect place to experience filipino desserts if you never have!
J. F.
It offers something different to the typical gelato parlour - well worth trying at least once, though there was a very long wait at the Chinatown branch. The sorbet was probably a shade nicer than the ice cream for me, though the others rated the black coconut ice cream the best.
N. x.
Halo Halo seems to be overrated in my eyes. There’s a lot of better places in London if you’re craving shaved ice!
V.
Nice little dessert spot in Chinatown don't think twice just go. Would recommend to Amy to go I'll definitely be back.
Is it pricey yes but what do you expect for central London but worth the price.
F. C.
Absolutely incredible ube halo halo. A queue worth joining, seriously. It’s one of my top food moments of my life. I’ll definitely be back to try the whole menu. Trouble is, I live over 100 miles away! I went back again recently and had the ube ice cream cake bilog. Sublime!
K. C.
Had The Bilog filled with Ube (Filipino Purple Yam) - really tasty and freshly made!
A. B.
Omg! You have to try this. I've tried the Bilog with black coconut and it was amazing. My sisters had cheese and chocolate melt. Very tasty!
B.
Good staff especially if u love ube Ice cream like I do😋
M. S.
If you're thinking of going here for good dessert, do not think twice! This desserts here are amazing!! Tried their Bilogs (an icecream scoop placed inside milky bun) and their Ube Milkshake. Extremely tasty and totally worth the trip to Chinatown! Only thing to keep in mind is that it is quite small and congested. Difficult to find a place to sit there- you might get the stools but they're fairly uncomfortable. The bilogs can get quite messy with ice cream dropping out so the best way to eat it is while sitting and not walking around Chinatown.
L.
First time trying the Ube Bilog. It was a revelation. The combo ice cream and lightly toasted milk bun was delicious! I can't wait to come back and try more flavours!
A. M. M.
Thanks to Mamasons Dirty Ice Cream, I'm obsessed with Ube.
I tried before the Halo Halo and even if coconut flavour is not my thing I loved it.
Today, o tried the Bilog and woow, it's to die for!
I can't wait to go back and try new things. I can see Ube will be the new trend and I totally understand it.
D.
Obsessed!!! Keep coming back.
Staff are very friendly and professional. I love that you can pre-order online on the website to avoid queues as well, such a useful addition.
The ube ice cream sandwich is so perfect, need to try the baclava flavour next.
w. a.
Been on my To Visit place for some time. Was not disappointed at all. Separate payment kiosks from where order can be placed - excellent option in the strange times that we live in. Staff was helpful and product was great. Will be back again. Recommended!!
C. P.
Bilog dessert is so delicious, Ube flavour is highly recommended. Although I think it is a bit overpriced and it is hard to find seats indoor, still worth trying it!
H. H.
Mamasons is the hot spot infamous for bringing Filipino cuisine into the central of Chinatown. They have an array of baked goods and desserts to try from
I went for their Halo Halo that had a combination of Nate de coco (coconut fermented jelly), jackfruit and coconut strands, red bean, leche flan, shaved ice with cream, cornflakes; topped with a scoop of ube ice cream and wafer. Halo Halo is packed with a mixture of differing textures and flavours which makes this treat incredible and enjoyable on any occasion - especially to the start of a hot summer. Definitely worth mixing to get the full experience. A dessert that is delightful, but also a drink that is delicious upon finishing. For £6.50, this is great value for money for what you get.
They are considerably busy so service may be slow, but for high-quality dessert, it is worth the wait. Mamasons has made me a new fan of ube ice-cream, thus, I shall be looking forward to the day I come back to try their other ube ice-cream options
A. M.
Aaaiiiteee. Listen, I'm not gonna lie to you. This place is a little pricey and I'm as cheap as the next Asian man but damn. I have been back here a few times now and Imma let you know why.
First of all, the Halo-halo is okay, not the best one I have had. I believe the ice needs to be a lot smaller as it felt like it was mini-cubes.
The Calamansi lemonade is amazing. Note: the Calamansi lemonade will not be for everyone but damn, it is nice and refreshing.
If you're lucky enough to be there on a Friday/Weekend you may be able to purchase one of the Ube Donuts. Do it. They are good. You can also pre-order them at their shop online or other the phone I believe.
But the best thing here and if not the whole of china town is the Bilog. It's bloody amazing. Seriously. If you visit here, that's the first thing you order. It's amazing. The staff are so friendly and nice, every time I visit, I feel like I am reunited with my brothers.
I've been living in London since birth and the Bilog is legit the first thing I have had that's made me feel like this was original and worth the trip to china town and the money for it. Try it. You won't regret it. Seriously. DO IT!
S. K.
We visited this place. We had to go back as we enjoyed it so much. Definitely recommend this place.
D.
The queue was long but the wait wasn't so bad! For a small place, it managed to take and deliver orders pretty quickly! Shame I didn't get to take any nice pictures as the food looked too irresistable to not eat right away. 😋 A fellow Filipino loving and supporting for the success for Mamasons, and hoping there may be more locations to come in the forseeable future!!!
S. J.
The filling was great & very delicious, but for the donut itself I felt that it was thick and didn't feel like it was freshly made. In general, I like it. But maybe should get an icecreame instead.
Z. O.
Excellent place for a pit stop and a cool dessert. Had the Ube flavoured Bilog, which is like a hot ice cream sandwich, warm on the outside cold on the in.
My only comment is, put some Mango flavours options and maybe a plain coconut flavour 😊
S. A. N.
... popular place, small shop with limited seating, may have long queues during busy periods. whilst the halo halo was refreshing, the quantity of ingredients was a bit lacking, however, the flavours were spot on. they seem to struggle with cash payments because they had no £7 change to our £20. prepare to pay by card. worthy of another visit to try Barako coffee.
D. K.
Delicious food, 'Instagram-worthy' presentation. It can get very busy and the staff might have a difficulty getting your order. Also the prices are a bit too much but the portions are quite large for food. Must try.
S. A.
Flavors that will rock your head and will not find these flavors anywhere else. Had a taste of things on the menu and will definitely be visiting soon. Loved the fact the deserts were not to sugary.
J. s.
Great dessert option within China Town if you're feeling like something other than shaved ice or bubble tea. Warm toasty bread filled with cold ice cream topped with powdered sugar. Highly recommend the ube and milo bilog (photos). Can be a bit messy but very delicious.
M. K.
I tried the Bilog with milo Ice-cream and I loved it. The atmosphere was cute and good. There were a lot of people but it was ok.
I am from Estonia and the bread tasted like a thing we call vastlakukkel(we eat it when it is bolludagur day a.k.a "Cream bun day")
R. B.
A really cool place, tucked away round the corner from Leicester Sq tube. Great place to grab a quick, authentic Filipino desert!
R. C.
Really enjoyed this. The simple deliciousness of the bilog (ice cream stuffed pan de sal) was fantastic. The ube ice cream was creamy and lovely. The pie was also great. Fast and friendly service.
r. c.
As a Filipino I am a little biased so not sure I can give 5stars but this place is great, vibe reminds me of home, the staff are friendly and helpful. The food... well, their Halo halo is one of the best I've had and I've had many in Philippines.
The Bilog reminds me of my childhood we use to have ice cream (ube queso) in pandesal growing up, their freshly baked bread bread with a hints of coconut and choice of ice is great personally Ube is the one!
Also would recommend having a combo of ube and black buko on a cone that's a nice mix.
G. P.
Food and drinks are okay, nothing I would say taste amazing - or maybe I'm just expecting too much from bread and ice-cream (pandesal). There's also not much seating, especially when it's being hogged by all the worker's friends who aren't even eating but yet are taking up space.
P. Q.
First time visiting mamasons, and I had such a good experience! Being Filipino myself, I really enjoy Ube and I was so excited to try this place after seeing it pop up on social media. It’s 100% worth the hype.
Me and my boyfriend got the ube bilog and a box of Ube doughnuts. We loved both, but our favourite of the two was definitely the Ube bilog. The Ube ice cream was just perfect, it was not overly sweet nor was it too rich, and the bun that it was toasted in was so soft and fluffy.
I don’t live in London, so I can’t visit this place as often as I want to, but I will definitely be coming back here when I visit again.
S. U.
Amazing, beautiful mix of pastry with ice cream. Would definitely go again. Only thing is the long line before the shop during busy times but it was totally worth it
z. y.
Their ube donuts are so good. Good customer service as you don't wait a lot but be prepared not to be able to seat either
T. T.
Good ice cream. Worth to stand in the queue? Probably not! One of those overhyped place 😆
W. S.
Bilog with Ube flavored icecream! It was my first time to try out some Philipino desserts and it was a delicious experience. The portion is quite big (well, considering the value you pay for it, it should be like that). It’s better to share the piece with your friend! The ube taste was quite rich, totally to my expectations!!
J. L.
Are you also from TikTok? 😂 this is definitely a place worth for the shutout. Ube AKA taro ice cream sandwich is sooooo good that I will definitely keep coming back for more. If you love creamy, kind of coconuty dessert, you will definitely love this rich, creamy yet unique taste. Love the artsy touch of the shop too.
A. E.
My Philippine friend took me here. Lovely place doing ice cream in sweet bread and other desserts.
Lovely and friendly service
L.
Mamason’s does the best Filipino desserts in London. They’re awesome!
The customer service is excellent - they’re very friendly and never fail to explain flavours etc to people who don’t know. All the desserts are delicious, and it’s nice to have different flavours on offer. Only minor niggle is that allergen/ingredient labelling could be better - a vegan friend ordered the Halo Halo with a sorbet, thinking that would make it vegan, which is not the case, but it would be useful to have a list of ingredients or allergens somewhere so people could understand that.
Aside from that, it’s amazing - the Halo Halo is my forever favourite - go!
K. R.
So I tried the Ube ice-cream and it was an absolute delight
H. A.
Some of the best ice cream I've tasted, fast efficient service and really polite staff.
This stuff is strange looking but far exceeds expectation. Give it a shot, I'm sure it'll surprise you. I'll definitely be going again very soon!
M. V.
A very special place in town - doughnut like pastry filled with the Philippines ice cream flavours - we really liked the black coconut and ube - must try! Very central but there’s almost always a long queue :)
J. H.
Mamasons’ Halo Halo, while not authentic according to my native friend, is still a refreshing dessert. Jackfruit & coconut strands, plenty of shaved ice, cornflakes (?), red beans, flan and my new fave flavour of ice cream: ube! I like that purple yam isn’t too sweet. So many different textures in my mouth. The best parts are at the bottom so make sure you mix it. Finally, drink up the remaining liquid! Portion is fair at £6.50 and they don’t take long to serve it to you even when busy.
C. A.
It's a nice ice cream especially the Ube
Ube ice cream is a must try flavour of ice cream they also have Ube bilog which is their best seller i recommend it to anyone who was looking for good dessert place.
J. M.
I was initially sceptical about this place but having tried a variety of their desserts on the menu I was quite impressed..
The staff are very warm and friendly - and the place itself provides a great atmosphere to chill with your family and friends.
I would highly recommend this place - especially to those Filipinos who are missing the taste of Phillipines (and ube) this place will provide you with that interim satisfaction to you craving until you go back home to taste the real thing..
S.
Bit disappointed. The flavours are lovely but the texture was all wrong. It was way too soft and the scoops melted so quick making it all messy in the trays they provide.
C. S.
I've had the Ube Bilog and it was amazing. Soft milk bun, toasted and filled with your ice cream of choice (they focus on about 6 flavours)! May look intimating at first but it's well balanced between bun & ice cream, hot and cold and overall yummo.
J. D.
Yummy, remind me of my childhood ice cream, it’s like a ice cream burger. Bf really likes it, will definitely come back!
G. L.
Amazingggg desserts, especially if you’re a lover of ube like me! Each dessert was £6.50, the halo halo was good, very filling good for sharing. ube brioche bun was good too! A must try in China town :)
T. A.
Awesome falvours! Super packed so not always space to sit. The Milo bilog and ube bilog are awesome. The hot chocolates and brownies are lovely too!!
A. N.
Lovely decor, great selection of Filipino desserts, great flavours and large portions. Guyabano bilog is my summer flavour.
J.
Overall great ice cream, with their speciality flavors being purple ube and black coconut. The taste is very good but definitely pricey. £4.5 for two modestly sized scoops. Seating is plentiful but cramped and the shop can get very crowded. Worth a slight detour if you're in the area already.
A. M.
Had a Ube Bilog and one scoop of black buko ice cream on a cone. Love the toasted bilog. It was such a yummy milk bread. Ube flavor is so good and very pretty. The black buko ice cream looks a bit strange but it does taste like coconut! I would go back for more bilog!
The store itself is a bit chaotic. Maybe because it’s very busy and the space is small? The floor was sticky...
B. S.
Unique flavour, I chose (purple) the popular ice cream. Also the milkshake is delicious but it was heavy. So just buy one of them instead of both lol.
R. F.
Authentic filipino food that’s done with a twist and unique way. It’s as good as it looks. Noticed it’s always busy because it must be really good. Having said that though they move line pretty well with a system.
N. L.
Mamasons is a must! Wonderful staff and deserts. This ice cream is sleek, I thoroughly recommend it!
g.
When I miss desserts from home, this is one of the places I go to. Though the halo halo should have *more* ingredients, it still tastes like halo halo.
I then tried the bilog, and it wasnt too bad, guess the price was a bit much though.
It's a small place so it's hard to find a good seat.
F. C.
This ice cream place is very interesting. It's not your usual ice-cream shop. The flavours they offer are quite unique, and the ube bilog is something I was very pleasantly surprised by and would definitely recommend it.
A. B.
Amazing place to try unique ice cream. The calamansi juice is sooooo refreshing. Even in the middle of winter!
V. V.
Lovely little cafe serving really tasty and interesting Asian-inspired flavours of ice cream and other desserts/drinks. I tried the bilog bun with ube ice cream which was delicious. And you can ask to taste a little of the flavours if you are unsure!
D.
An amazing idea of how they serve the ice cream, inside a milk bun. Delicious one and located in Chinatown, London.
J. P.
Highly recommend the ube on the pie!
L. L.
Tried the ube bilog. The toasted warm bun and cold ice cream combo is great.
The ube ice cream is tasty, but eaten together with bun can be a bit heavy after a few bites. Also the bun is too sweet that it overpowers the ube ice cream. If the bun was less sweet it would be perfect.
£6.50 is expensive considering a scoop of ice cream is £3. I'd just go for the ice cream next time.
W.
Love the ice cream sandwich, Halo Halo was a bit blend but other than that would recommend the place for ice cream! 😋
L.
Finally we have a Filipino dessert place in London! I love the interior of this place, very trendy and insta friendly! I got to try the halo halo dessert which I been wanting to for years after seeing it on various social media platforms. It is soooooooo delicious!! It comes with their taro ice cream which is out of this world! I also tried the bilog (doughnut ice cream) which was equally as good. Can't wait to be back!
K. C.
Nice cosy place for a quick dessert in Chinatown! The Ube Bilog is an absolute must, with a great combination of the warm milk bum and the cold Ube ice-cream. (which isn't too sweet!) So delicious! Friendly service! Would go back again!
C. M.
I love this Filipino dessert bar, especially the “ube bilog” (ice cream filled milk bun) and ube donuts. They do great coffee as well. The place is beautifully decorated and the staff are always friendly.
j. d.
pretty much the same as what I had in Philippines, would you be able to make the ice-cream bun coconut based and calamansi juice as well?
D. C.
Following the queue out of the door, you can see why it is so popular. Great flavoured ice cream wrapped in donut. Yummy and definitely will try it again!
R. M.
Great concept with a wide selection of sweet treats to choose from. Mamasons is a celebration of colours.
We tried the Black Buko and Calamansi in a cone as well as the Ube Bilog. As far as flavour goes the Calamansi was the star of the trio. Refreshing & different to other lime or lemon sorbets.
The bilog was hot & cold. Something completely new and delicious. Pan de Sal was baked to perfection. Picking up distinct flavour notes with Ube & BB was a bit tricky.
Definitely unique to London & a return is on the horizon.
Thank you team Mamasons 💜
K. B.
The ube (a Filipino purple potato) Ice cream was delicious. I also got a Milo cream stuffed donut (are it before we got chance to take a photo as it was yummy)
S. I. (.
The Ube flavoured shake was really good and proper sweet. It was thick and heavy so could only finish half the cup, yummy nonetheless. The stuff are very helpful and lovely too.
R. M.
Love the unique concept of the bilog..warm bun encasing ice cream.. interesting flavours also..worth the queues
A. M.
I have been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. Every time I go to Chinatown I always go to mamasons. Can't wait to try the rest of their menu!
A. T.
Is a little cool store, full with history and sweetness. The attention was polite and the treat in point, good presentation and flavor.
H. A.
Service is efficient with online tablets to order from, the shake and flavours I got was amazing and you have more variety in this store than the Camden one
B. S.
Please try the ube with anything!!! The halo halo and the pies are sooooo good!!!
E. G.
Super small shop but full of big taste. The decor is fun and cozy and limited seating . I walked in blind not knowing what to order so I asked the staff for recommendations and they definitely led me in the right direction .
T. R.
Best ice cream Ive ever had. It took me back to the Philippines in the first spoonful. Absolutely delicious...and you won’t find these amazing fili flavours anywhere else outside the Philippines! Please go to Mamasons. I’ll definitely be back soon x
S. L. V. (.
Very well hyped ice cream, definitely try the ube flavour if you’ve not had it before. Be prepared to wait a long time but the ice cream was really good. Not sure if I’d come back though given how popular it is at the moment.
A. S.
Bilog Ube absolutely phenomenal, me and my girlfriends favourite desert spot 10/10
T. J.
Great place if you are always on the look out for new flavours and culinary experiences! We had the ube bilog, sort of a warm waffle-textured sandwich filled with ube ice cream which was delicious. We also had the Halo halo drink with black kubo ice cream which was perhaps less to our liking (not a fan of shaved ice and beans) but very interesting to try nonetheless 🙂 Be prepared to wait a little for these as the place is usually busy!
a.
Beautiful little shop where a lot of Filipinos congregate- and no wonder, since the desserts are delicious. Definitely try the ube and white chocolate coco if you pass by, it’s amazing. I haven’t tried the halo halo yet, but I’ve heard good things.
Y. W.
I am afraid I would only give 3 out of 5 to this little place tho the staff was really nice. I went for the taro milkshake, but overall lack of taro flavor.
I can sort of taste it is taro flavored but it seems to be some taro powder mixed with a lot of cream and sugar, a bit too sweet in my own opinion, I would rather get some bubble tea from else where.
S. M.
Yummy taro flavoured bilog. Will be going back to try other flavors.
R. L.
Got the halo halo and the ice cream bun, was good. Although we couldn't finish the halo halo fast enough so the ice melted and watered it down.
D. C.
Having never tried bilog before, I was entirely blown away by how soft and warm the milk bun was. It went really well with the ube ice cream I got.
J. C.
Had the bilog bun with ube ice cream. Freshly made and tasty. Beware it can all get filling quickly.
L. Z.
Aesthetic is amazing and wow their Bilog was great and the Ube ice cream is so great (first time I’ve ever tried either)
I’d love to return
E. N. (.
A Filipino dessert shop where you can have barako coffee, ube ice cream, mamon and the all time favorite — halo-halo! A must try for someone who hasn’t tasted ube. The place is a little bit small and people are coming in and out especially it’s almost summer time.
R. R.
Go here for the UBE ice cream in the milk bun. So good I had 2 in one day and will be returning later today for another :D
Oh and weekend donuts!
M. S. H. S.
They have best desserts, everything I tried was mouthwatering 😋
S. T.
Enjoyed my experience there. Staff was helpful and friendly, service was good and efficient. I liked the bilgo with ube flavour. Though I did feel it tasted a bit bland.
S. V.
Yesaii
Edit: When there a few other times, always great
L. (.
got the black buko bilog and the ube brownie and both are absolutely amazing definitely recommend!!!! accidentally gave me the wrong flavour bilog today but quickly replaced with no hassle. also great music taste hahah played drew barrymore by sza so enjoyed that
S. H.
My friend and I had the "Ube bilog" and it was lovely! We also had the Ube hot chocolate, it was nice but maybe too sweet for my liking.
The staff were super welcoming and friendly! Would be coming back to try their other drinks and deserts!
I. M.
Absolutely delicious ice cream and amazing customer service. Will recommend
R. M.
Honestly, ice cream in a bun doesnt get better than this. Long live the Ube Bilog!
K. B. G. P.
Randomly found this on leaving Chinatown... Had the Fillpino Lime... OMG .... fantastic zesty fresh flavour... Definitely recommend 👌
J. S.
Best desserts in London. Always stop by here when I'm around
S. K.
Really helpful staff - you can try flavours before you buy them- and delicious dessert!
B. B.
First shop in London that i have tried Halo-halo! And its good, except for the ice they are using. Because theyre quite big. But the ube ice cream is soooo good and cheap price as well.
K. N.
Still the best of course that's Philippines dessert
B. D.
Pricey but amazing philipino desserts, the taro (ube) ice cream is amazing.
B. E.
Amazing ice cream no idea how sweet potato ice cream can be this good but it really is
D. J.
SO TASTY! I fell in love with ube after this very messy but delicious milk bun filled with the smoothest ube ice cream! Love it, been back twice already
V. J.
We were at this place for the first time. I was surprised that even though it was recently opened, there were a lot of people there and a lot of guys who always came. good luck and thanks
Y. i.
The ube ice cream is sooo yum! However, the halo halo is just okay, there are way too much ice in it.
J. B.
Delicious sweet treats from the Philippines. My wife and I frequent here. It is hard to stray from the classic Une Bilog, but the calamansi lime ice cream and the black buko icecream are delicious as well. We will definitely be back for future limited release flavors and we can't wait for the summer to try the Calamansi-ade!
F. M.
Love the ice cream but this little munchkin loves it more. Just look at that face!
V.
Waitress was friendly but the ube latte was okay.
Haven’t tried the ice cream but looks really good.
H. F.
Now this was the highlight of my full trip to London. Don't miss out the halo halo drink & the bilog. The aftertaste is still on my tongue 🤤
I. C.
Delicious ice cream with interesting flavours and different forms
T. C.
LOVE this place! The ube bilog is delicious. Warm pastry with cold ice cream - perfect! The black buko ice cream is also amazzzing! The flavours are really different to other ice cream I have tried. A must-try!
The halo halo was nice but a bit sweet for my taste but maybe people with a sweet tooth would enjoy it.
R. S.
Awesome desserts, tried the cheesecake and chocolate and chocolate wins hands down.
T. K.
The dessert here Bilog is unique and tasty!
B. N.
Amazing - had the best ice-cream sandwich there. Ube ice-cream was really tasty and the bun warm and soft.
L. D.
I'm I'm love with Mamasons for all the right reasons. Firstly, they only allow 1 customer into the shop at one time. Secondly, they have created a make shift barrier to enforce the above mentioned and to ensure their staff are also safe and socially distancing. Finally, the food! I've visited several times and fell in love with the Ube Bilog and I honestly haven't tried anything else yet because of how amazing that is! Great invention!!
M. H.
Ube ube ube.....wow!!! Amazingly good ube ice cream and ube donut. The price is quite a bit up there considering its just an icecream (£1 for the cone and £3 for a scoop of ube icecream, £3.50 for the ube donut). But i guess it central london and it is really yum. So its worth a visit if you want to spend a little.
T. M.
The ice cream was outstanding! I had the purple potato and charcoal coconut. Both delicious!
D. B.
Halo Halo and Ube Brownie are my personal favourites
D. H.
Amazing stuff. Glad to find ube ice cream and halo halo. A little taste of the eonders of the Philippines here in the uk. Highly recommend to anyone to visit this lovely little store and taste the delights.
J. L.
Good service. Great vibe. But the milo tastes like chocolate and not milo but the rest is really good.
R.
A deli ice cream in chinatown. Must be patient with long queue there 😄
江.
Creative drink. There are even Jack fruits and red beans in the Halo Halo!
M. F.
I got this on my last night in London, and I’m honestly so sad that I wasn’t doing this every night.
J.
Great! Unusual ice cream flavours.
The bilog - Warm bun and cold ice cream is always a good combo!
A. M.
Delicious ice cream, generous space with table and bar seating. Friendly staff :)
M. M.
Nice selection of deserts. Enjoyed the tart the most. If you are a Matcha fan, then a must go place.
a. k.
A must try whenever visiting central London ! Go for the UBE ice cream :)
T.
First time having Filipino desserts, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Ube-flavoured ice cream has rocketed to being one of my favourite flavours seemingly overnight. The Halo-Halo, while huge, was delicious. I'm not entirely sure if Mamasons is particularly authentic or not as it's my first experience with Filipino food, as mentioned before, but it's fantastic either way.
Would recommend sneaking in at dead hours, my friends and I rolled in at around 5:30 and had seats, but by 6 the entire shop had filled up with a large queue so be wary of that.
D. H.
One of the most incredible ice creams I have eaten in my life.we had black coconut one!
They serve the ice creams in different forms!
We had the one which is inside a great pastry!
So basically they get a scoop of ice cream, put it in a middle of a very delicate baked pastry and warm it up in a waffle maker kind of heater so when you get it it is a mixture of hot and cold which is so pleasant! It is £6.5 but is enough for two people so absolutely worths it!
S. H.
Always worth the frustrating wait to get Ube Billing - be brave, go for the purple yam
A. L.
The place is super cute and the staff are pretty nice too. I probably made a mistake in ordering what I ordered, though. I got one scoop of ube and one scoop is queso, and man, that was just not tasty at all. The queso had me gagging - I know it’s cheese flavoured, but the queso ice cream I’ve had in the past was not like this and actually really nice, so I dunno if it’s just me or this one kinda sucks. Ube was okay but too sweet. Really, I probably should have gotten one of the donut looking things...
J. P.
So so good! Quite a large portion and very filling! Might want to share, or not.
g. d. p.
Delicious ice cream ! The flavours are creative and the staff is friendly. Definitely recommend !
M. S.
Really interesting asian flavours of ice cream and efficient service. Will definitely return to try the other flavours.
K. H.
I had this delicious ube hot chocolate. It tasted like an earthy vanilla. The whip on top was divine. I could have drank another but not at £5. Very expensive for the surroundings, it's a very small Caffe with limited seats. Good service though.
K. D.
I was served by a young man by the name of Ron whose customer service was absolutely 10*. He was serving several different people all at once and done this with ease. I'll definitely be back as the desserts were amazing! Thanks Ron
S.
WOW! We got a Bilog when we visited (the purple one, yam flavour) and it was amazing. Never had anything like this before. We got one to share but could easily eat the whole one myself. Well worth the visit
A. A.
Lovely exotic desserts and friendly staff. Try the queso ice cream!
L.
I arrived the second they opened, dying to eat their famous burnt coconut icecream. They hadn't finished making it so I patiently waited and in return for my loyalty they offered it to me in the house! So that was crazy sweet. Plus now I'm obsessed with this ice cream, it was incredibly delicious!!
J.
Well worth the long queue! Doughnuts with a Filipina twist! 😍
A. Q.
You must try the Bilog Ice Cream Sandwich!! It's amazing
J. P. G.
Interesting take on the traditional Philippine Halo-Halo. Great use of local ingredients that are very similar in flavor and texture as the traditional ones.
v. w.
Creamy ice-cream. The Ube is something special. We keep coming back for more. Be warned there is often a queue here.
A. S.
best Filipino ice cream especially if you wanna try ube! halo-halo is a must try!
v.
So yummy! The Ube ice cream cake was really nice. It was really busy though and barely enough seats but I think that it was worth it! A bit pricey.. especially for what it is. But it’s got a really cool vibe about it so it’s a fun place to go!
c. s.
I love this place, it was magical. The ube ice-cream in the middle of November was such an experience! Loved it!
H. T.
Interesting Filipino ice cream joint. We tried their sweet potato flavour and that was pretty nice!
K. C.
Pretty unique as far as dessert goes. Love the halo halo, so good 👌
F. M.
Delicious. Expect a small line. Not a lot of sitting room but worth the experience.
J. S.
Absolutley amazing! This has to be the best ice cream I've had in a long time, if you love taro/ube you'll absolutley love this. It doesn't taste artifical/too sweet, has a slight tang, a bit of texture and is so creamy. If you love very milky, sweet soft serve you won't like the ube ice cream though. The cone was delicious aswell, not flavoured just coloured black.
S. M.
The Ube is delicious. Very unique ice cream, definitely worth a try
s.
There are two branches of Mamasons Dirty Ice Cream and they are famous for its purple ube ice-cream and other sweet treats.
Mamasons specializes in Filipino ice cream with special items during the weekend when there are more people.
There are two branches, one in Chinatown and one at Camden.
As I was at Leicester Square, I tried Mamasons over the weekend as they had the donuts as well.
I went for the ube icecream on ube brownie as well as the donut.
If you have tried Flipino food, a majority of it can be quite sweet but overall Flipino food is extremely delicious especially dinuguan, pinkabare, taro leaves etc.
At the Chinatown branch of Mamasons, you can expect it to be quite busy being in a prime location so best to visit on week days.
The ube donut was just pretty, an ordinary donut contrasted by the purple creme which had a rich and fragrant ube taste, however the doughnut dough was a little disappointing because it wasn't yeasty and it was rather oily and yellow just like Chinese donuts.
As for the ube brownie, it was definitely different because it was made of ube hence the dark purple.
Unfortunately, I found the texture too sugary but luckily the ube ice-cream fared better.
Also had tea, but it was too hot to handle as they didn't have cup sleeves but luckily they gave me another cup.
R. R.
Absolutely amazing! Had the bilog, it is a must try.
K. B.
Not your usual ice-cream parlour. Unique flavours from the Philippines and other Filipino deserts such as ube brownie, buko pie and halo-halo. Excellent service and a clean environment. Would definitely recommend if in Chinatown looking for something different!
M. F. W. (. 3. C.
Best Filipino ice-cream, perhaps even best ice-cream in London!
C. M.
Really good. The Bilog Icecream Milk Bun was so delicious and caught me off guard. I would go again for sure!
P.
Excellent Philippine ice cream they only serve donuts at the weekends
S. E.
Gorgeous food and drinks, such a treat in Chinatown 🙌🏼
A. K.
Love this place, really good flavour options! I also like that they explain the flavours so people that aren't familiar know what they taste like!
N. S.
Amazing, queso (cheesecake) flavour ice cream was absolutely delicious, I got the bread with ice cream stuffed in it. Worth the price
A. J.
Ube (taro) and Black Buco flavour ice cream👍👍👍
R. A.
Super cute space with an amazing menu of Filipino flavors. The ube brownie sundae was my favorite. The brownie is rich and tasty. Quite sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. The donuts are also very good, but I was surprised that I didn't like them as much as the brownie. The ube coco is pretty, but I didn't think it was worth the cost. Fairly small cup for the price with a huge mound of whipped cream/marshmallow. It was actually a bit difficult to drink since the topping trapped the beverage in the cup. I ended up spooning out a lot of the topping. The ube flavor in the drink is not as noticeable. I would instead go for a calamansi lemonade or something else from their drinks menu.
Also since I've seen a lot of this in other reviews: UBE is NOT TARO! They are both purple roots used in asian desserts, but they have totally different flavors. I am both Chinese + Filipina, so I grew up with both.
A. U.
The Ube (purple yam) in a milk bun was divine. The flavour was light and as the ice cream was cold and milk bun was warm, the combination was excellent. When you sit in silence and just eat, you know it is good. The bun was light as well and the ice cream stayed inside the bun. Eat it before it melts!
The Halo Halo shake was also a welcome surprise. The jackfruit was flavoursome and the combination of the ube ice cream and crunchy nut was interesting! The ice was a bit annoying, it could have done with less or it being more shaved. However, i cannot complain. If you had not red kidney bean in dessert that would be unusual for you, it does work!
Would definitely go again
L. S.
It was good but a bit overpriced and the waiting is very huge
M. L.
It's not easy to find ube ice-cream in London, now I know where to go to get my fix.
L. D.
So delicious! So good to have this spot. Everything looks so good.
G. B.
Very cute little Filipino ice cream parlour in China Town - with unusual flavours and servings. Tried the Ube and Guyabano ice cream and it was delicious. Will definitely return with more space in the tummy to try the other stuff. The staff was friendly and the place was jam packed! Thumbs up!
D. O.
Nice vibe, milo ice cream with a milk bun was nice. A bit too sweet for my liking, seating is a bit tough. I'd say priced 50% higher than real value, good nevertheless.
Great music.
H. B. T.
A little bit overpriced. Tried bilog with earthy vanilla. Ice cream is ok but I wouldn't give anything more than 3pounds.
유.
Had never tried Filipino desserts before but I'm glad that I tried the ube (purple yam) bilog (milk bun); the combination of the warm bun and the delicious ice cream go really well! The bilog itself is quite filling as they are divided into two so pace yourself. I'll be back to try the black buko (had a tasting and it was great too) and halo-halo. Glad that they have a Chinatown branch now as it was on my list for quite some time.
Edit: tried the black buko - very good! Queso is also tasty.
E. A.
Great ice cream. Enjoyed with my family. My sister Adelaide introduced us to the place
F. Z.
Ube shake literally tastes like a Rafaello shake… so good!
Totally recommend, don’t be frightened by the ube flavour
Z. S.
I love the icecream there and the staff are really nice
n. m.
I enjoyed the dessert and the decor is hip and trendy. Their staff were very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely recommend this ice cream cafe to anyone who fancies different exotic flavours such as ube, calamansi and black buko.
F. F.
The Ube ice cream (Taro) is to DIE for. I don’t generally eat ice cream but I could have a pint of this stuff every day. The taste is so creamy. I wish there was a Mamasons in America. I would move to London for this ice cream!!
The servers are also very nice. The atmosphere is very hip and the style and design of the place is great for pictures and just fun to be around. Wish there was one in every city! LOVE!
B.
So being a Filipino of course my expectations are high. The halo halo they make here is genuinely the best I’ve had. And I’m eating all the ube ice cream to make up for distance between here and the Phil. I can’t stress enough how bloody amazing the ube ice cream is! It’s a little pricy but man, it’s so worth it.
J. R.
Yummmyyyyyy Ube 🥰🥰🥰 such a busy place. Always a long queue. But worth it for the Deserts
U. M.
The ice cream from here is the best in London
c. C.
You can find authentic Filipino desserts here, you can find it a little bit pricey but it’s all worth it. The Ube and Queso Ice cream was the best with also the Bilog which is ube ice cream inside a warm pandesal bun.
m. p.
Love this place amazing delicious dessert and milkshake
Y. L.
Taste is great (I'm a regular) but called on the phone to ask about Uber Eats and the staff member hung up rather abruptly/didn't sound like he wanted to be on the phone!
D. P.
One word: Bilog. The black buko ice cream inside the warm toasted milk bun dusted off with a generous amount of icing sugar is my go to. Staff there are all pretty nice and chill and the atmosphere of the place is just cool. Can't wait for my next Bilog visit
J. D.
Filipino ice-cream! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a cool desert place in London.
M. M.
Tasty refreshing food and friendly staff, a must-stop-by!
A.
Pretty much an ice cream filled donut! What's not to love 😍
This Filipino desert is found right near Chinatown, don't miss out! I recommend trying the Ube flavoured ice cream (native filipino purple yam) and defintiely get a bilog!
G. G.
Amazing ube ice cream! Very rich and creamy, with still a nice amount of the ube flavour. Would definitely recommend the "Bilog" which is effectively an ice cream sandwich, using their own take of "pandesal" - when served, bread is still nice and warm that perfectly goes with the ube ice cream.
R. L.
Place is clean and ambiance is good. Expect to see majority of Filipinos as the beverages their serving are filipino based. The ube shake needs modification to pump it up coz it is boring. The halo-halo is mediocre and would be better if they made the shaved ice a little thinner. So far it is a good place to hang out to cool diwn the summer heat it London.
B.
All I have had is the Bilog (hot ice cream sandwich) and it is amazing. Both Milo and Queso flavors have been excellent. That hot sweet bun with cold ice cream is a fantastic combo.
M. R.
Must try their ube, kind service.
Please look after your belongings too.
Limited seating area and long queues are expected.
No toilets.
S. G.
The ice cream favour is very special. Really like the cream cheese favour
D. P.
Loved the ube ice cream. Will definitely have that again!!
Y. A.
One of the best dessert spots in China town, they have the nicest staff too!!! Would highly recommend!!
H. F.
purple stuff tasted good i wanna bring the chef home so they can keep making me halo halos and doughnuts everyday
J. S.
I’m in love with this black buko bilog 🥰
p. h.
This ice cream parlour is quite small...and it's popular..so if you want to sit down you may have to wait. I had the Halo Halo which was excellent and comparable to ones I have had in the Philippines.
c.
Small but niche place, few seating options and staff were clearly very busy but very helpful and patient. Although a Filipino location the food doesn't represent all Filipino food completely. Maybe because of some ingredient changes...
M. L.
Lovely ice-cream. Super popular.
K. W.
I love the halo halo it's open a new spectrum who knew ube ice was so good over a nice float. At the bottom of the glass palm coconut seed and young shredded coconut. It's an amazing experience.
A. K.
Great service & really tasty ice cream.
A. P.
Ice cream with very interesting flavours that you don't get anywhere else! Try the Ube Bilog, a wonder.
k. m.
Super delicious Bilog and Ube Brownie! Brownies are only available on the weekends, definitely a must try! If you like something sweet then go for the brownie, if not the try the ube bilog! They also play good music there. Try to come early as the bilog is usually sold out at 8.30.
V. V.
Great variety of Filipino ice cream flavours served in plates made of coconut fibre. Tasted yummy, service was good and the shop is lovely!
F. C.
Great customer service and delicious purpleyam doughnuts. Thank you!
P. B.
Delicious ice cream stuffed in to a freshly cooked bun. Really like the Ube and Queso flavours on a black waffle cone too
M.
The creamy ube flavoured bilog and refreshing halo halo is so delicous. Staff members were so friendly and explained all the flavours to me. The shop interior is perfect for taking pictures.
R. L.
everything from this cafe is amazing, make sure to get the ube bilog and ube shake!
E. S.
Sometimes too sweet, but really interesting flavours! 🍧
A. “. A.
I really like the Mamasons in Camden so perhaps I had hoped too high for this location, but the service and ambiance were both lacking. The treats are still tasty, but somehow less sweet when served poorly.
S. O.
Magical ice cream. It was great to try something from the Philippines, something not as commonly found as your normal ice cream scoop. The staff was awesome and the shop is so cute!
A. A.
The lady serving us was really nice and friendly. Got an Ube doughnut ( forgot the name) but it was delicious. Can’t wait to go again
S. A.
Nice food and ive been there twice but it's a bit overpriced but it's really filling which is good. There's alot of methods of payment they don't accept like paying with half card half cash and paying with cash that will result in you receiving change ,which is annoying, but overall the atmosphere is really nice and has some nice art so I would recommend
Y. P.
Ube flavour ice cream is real yummmm 😋👍🏻 not really like the black colour coconut ice cream thou, was too sweet. Really cozy place so would rather recommend take away
L. D.
Very tasty love the ice cream
C. Y. T.
My friends and I shared the Black Buko (Black Coconut) and Ube (Purple Yam) ice cream stuffed in the Bilog (Pandesal Milk Bun). A dessert originated from the Philippines, this ice cream shop is an added collection to my South East Asian food ventures. Both of the main elements of the dessert form a symbiotic relationship with one another, to produce a subtly sweet, taste of happiness. Of course, there are many other desserts and drinks options as well! I like the nature themed shop, but the cleanliness of the long table on the side could be kept aware of. In short, Mamasons Dirty Ice Cream does serve as the nice and simple dessert place for all.
M. M.
Unique flavours from the Philippines and other Filipino deserts such as ube brownie, buko pie and halo-halo. Excellent service and a clean environment.
N. K.
Yummy 😉
D. O.
Tasty snack, I'll be back for the Milo I've cream.
E. P.
Delicious and unusual Philippine ice cream flavours (and a few other treats) served with great charm in a pleasantly unpretentious setting.
T. S.
I love Mamasons, they have the most interesting flavours in London. The Kentish Town spot is better, but the chinatown location is more convenient. All the flavours are great, and the space is fun, but seating is limited.
T. K.
Well worth experiencing Dirty Ice Cream! I had a fantastic coconut variety. Reasonable price and good service.
J. B.
Service always top notch with a good variety of desserts and as always the food is amazing.
I recommend a bilog with ube ice cream or an ube brownie with ube ice cream on top
L. H.
Ice cream in a donut. Nuf said.
Exotic flavours, colours and friendly atmosphere! Decent sized scoops too, makes it all the better
R.
Busy but delicious and worth the wait!
M.
Lovely service and great milkshake.
H. K.
Amazing! Friendly staff, brilliant clean and vibrant flavours! My new favourite pudding without the guilty feeling. Love it!
m. d. i. c.
Great place obvs. In Chinatown second branch in Kentish Town. Great Filipino Icecream in the heart of London across the road from Leicester Square Station. Specialising in Ube, halo halo, pandesal bilogs and barako coffee.
M. H.
Something very different and great to experience the local Filipino desserts. The desserts provide a lot of colour and texture.
R. L.
Love the ube ice cream :)
M. H.
So good! Ube ice-cream ftw!
S.
The purple yam bilog is so yum and the black buko. Visited twice and will go again.
a. s.
Its a good place to reminisce classic Filipino desserts. They retained the classic taste but added their own modern twist to it. Everyone should go.
A. M. D. O.
The guyabano ice cream (no dairy though, great for vegan or lactose intolerant folks) teleports me to my childhood. It’s so good and fresh :,)
a. a.
I love their halo halo and the bilog ice creme sandwich
I. N.
THIS IS A MUST TO TRY WHEN IN CHINATOWN. The price was about £10 if I’m not mistaken.
H.
Literally a hidden gem 😍 Must give it a try!
s. s.
Oh my goodness, the ice cream was delicious! Already sold out of black cones though so I am going to have to go back
S. A.
Ice cream was tasty, shame I couldn't try the black buko and ube flavours as they were out of stock when we went there in the late evening.
A. A.
My friend and I tried the Ube hot chocolate drink and it was unappetising. The cream was lovely but the warm drink under was gross.
R. L.
A bustling delight with delicious sweet treats! Helpful, straightforward staff; good signage; clean and attractive interior. I can't wait to return!
D.
Ube and coconut flavor. The scoops are sooooo big 🤣
M. t. a. K.
Had the ube bilog. It was very very nice.
C. W.
Quick service and delicious ube ice cream dessert. We went at a fairly quiet time, so it wasn't crowded with people, which made it a nice, quaint place to chill at.
v. s.
I love this place! Good quality products, eco-friendly and definitely a must spot while out in London’s China town.
S. S.
Can only give a 3 star currently as didn't stay too long or try enough from the menu. However what I did try (the Ube hot chocolate) was delicious and really helped on a cold day
L. D.
Great customer service, the ube ice cream was too sweet but it was nice. The ube coffee latte was really good too.
g.
Love Mamasons, they really know how to utilize Ube and I would highly recommend the Bilog as a lovely post dinner treat.
B. S. (.

The Ube Hot Coco, Calamansi Lemonade and Bilogs top 3 for me, rest of the menu is pretty good as well!
Oh and the Ube Donuts on the weekend 🤤
H. L.
Lovely dessert and drink.
J. C.
Good, but a bit overpriced for its own version of halo-halo.
L. V.

Perfect halo-halo for today's weather.

Food is great but space is very tiny and you can't fully enjoy it due to having to eat standing. Pricey. VERY very busy at some point.

Staff were not overly enthusiastic to serve us and prices are a bit high for the products received. Not bad but wouldn't rush back.

Western taste of a Filipino classic. Great taste of home away from home.
