I was missing Hong Kong food and came here to celebrate Lunar New Years, I was not disappointed. Great food that reminds me of home. Lovely staff. Speedy service. Thank you so much 😍🧧🐅

Great place to get a HK cafe experience. The menu has a good selection of HK brunch dishes, street food and drinks, as well as a specials menu inside. The curry fish balls, radish cake and cheung fan were fantastic, and were decently priced. The positive experience was more than just about the food though. There is a warm and friendly vibe to this place, which you can see when you look at their handmade menus inside, which are filled with fun doodles and useful tips to help you decide (particularly helpful if you're not familiar with the dishes). The staff were very welcoming and friendly. There is also a small selection of board games inside, which is a nice touch. One thing I wasn't impressed with was the amount of waste though; all food and drink were all served in disposable containers, and there was no recycling bins at the self-serve cleaning station.

Consistently top notch food and friendly service. Prices are good for quality and portion size. Food is flavoursome and handwritten menus really do a great job of explaining items to those less familiar. This place will customise items to needs, if they can. The special/promotional items help to keep the customer hooked. Service within 10 minutes with half of tables occupied. I simply have nothing to complain about - look my other reviews if you think I'm not normally critical!! I have strong cause to doubt the authenticity of the negative reviews of this place... Maybe if you are in a rush, ask before ordering though?

Absolutely delicious HK style street food. Fried chicken wings curry was over the top! Try the drinks too much better than ANY HIGH STREET DRINK! Definitely go again!

One of the best authentic Hong Kong restaurants/cafes in UK, foods are tasty, and the service is excellent. It’s such a great pleasure every time I eat at pop up wok. As a Newcastle United supporter from Hong Kong, there is one more reason to travel to Newcastle besides watching my team play and visiting this beautiful city.

Cozy relaxed place to chill After lunch me and some friends decided to get something sweet so went to pop up wok for dessert. We shared waffles with peanut butter and lemon grass and ice cream with frozen melon balls. This definitely had some Hong Kong vibes to it, loved the waffles, eggy, nice toasted crust and soft as you bite into it, the peanut butter gave it plenty of flavour, highly recommended. Ice cream was refreshing, especially after a humid day, love the mellow taste you get from the melon balls complemented with grass jelly and ice cream makes it a perfect dessert. Not on the picture but I also had Hong Kong milk tea which added to the whole Hong Kong vibe. They do other lunch food as well so a good option to if you feeling especially hungry. There's board games for you to play on the shelf and overall a good place to chillax on the weekend I base my rating on whether I would go there again and I definitely would, 5 stars no problem. If you want a place to chill, with good food and drinks, Pop up Wok is a place to go to.

The best Hong Kong food in the town. I used to visit Hong Kong once a year but it’s not possible for me now. Every time when I miss the food in Hong Kong, I go to this place. Rice noodle soup with chicken and fried crispy pork are my favourite dishes. The staff are lovely too. Highly recommended!

One of the best Hong Kong style restaurant that offers genuine HK street food 🤤 I was so surprised to find the taste here in Uk! You can tell how much effort the owners and staff put in the food they serve! They are super friendly and welcoming, always doing their best to cater to customers’ needs. The food is authentic and every meal I’ve had here is excellent. I think they’ll be needing a larger venue as the place is quite small for the number of Customers that want to eat there.

Some comfort food for Hongkongers in Newcastle. If you are willing to try authentic Hong Kong street food, this is the place for you. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely try the fish ball and french toast, two of my personal favourite.

Authentic HK food. Curry fish balls are their signature dish. Sounds disgusting but so did squid rings or calamari when i was younger. Top notch, and so is the rest of the menu.
