Reviews of George & Danver
K. M.
I love the ice cream of G&D, but some of the flavours aren't up to the mark. Having been here for more than 6 months, and have tried several times from two of their outlets in Oxford - one in front of Christ Church college and the other in Little Clarendon street, I can say that while some of their flavours are really outstanding, I personally found the others are just average (even those flavours which I otherwise love !).
One of the problem at both the outlets is large queue. Everytime I have been to either of the shops, the queue is quite long and service seems to be slow - especially on weekends. However, I understand that there are certain things beyond the control and hence won't leave a bad rating just for long queues (which indicate that people love their ice-creams). Hope the team is able to make the process slightly fast and queues a bit smaller.
V. E.
So great!! The bagels are homemade and whilst they have pre made options you can make your bagel you can have hot or cold. Good selection of ice cream, nice coffee and friendly staff.
A. E.
The best ice cream outlet in Oxford. I don’t mind a queue just to have some. Well done guys.
E. W.
The most creative ice cream flavours, and some of the best desserts I've had! 🍦 They also serve some amazing savoury dishes such as their infamous pizza bagels too! 👌🏻 Great service, friendly staff, and fair pricing considering the location and quality of products on offer. With three separate locations across the city, and local ingredients used for in-house production of the menu, the place is definitely worth a visit at any time of the day! 🍨
A. M.
Tried this ice cream since it was popular and it was really good. You guys should try it if you ever come to oxford. Recommended and would keep coming back for its other flavours. They have so many other different flavours to try. Cheers! I hope this helps!
M. D.
Great ice cream and waffles. Very crowded and long waiting times. Cutlery not sparkling clean, watch out.
M. H.
Great staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. The milkshake I had was delicious, and the bagel I had was tasty. My only real complaint is the portion sizes for the price, as my partner's waffles were a bit light on toppings, and the bagel I had was a bit small for the price. Everything was tasty, otherwise, I just wish there had been more of it!
Will definitely visit again.

Holy Cow!
Hot chocolate with a scoop of ice cream; you need this in your life. There is a coffee version, if you're that way inclined!
I went for NY blueberry cheesecake ice cream, which made for a rich, bold drink.
Bagels are delicious too.
There are 3 of these around Oxford; "George &..." And I would highly recommend making a beeline for your lunch.
At the Danver location, there are a few tables downstairs
S. P.
A but overpriced and a bit overrated, however their mango sorbet and raspberry sorbet are to die for and they alone justify all the hype surrounding G&D’s. The taste is genuine, it really feels like they mixed up fresh fruit in a sorbet, and it is a refreshing and delicious snack on a summer day.
The sorbets are their ultimate best, but from the milk-based options I’d suggest the Daim, Oxford Blue (blueberries!) and Eton Mess. Their scoops are usually pretty large so you will probably be in for a good treat even if you order just one.
Waffles and brownies are usually delicious (though also pricey) and quite indulgent - I would save them as a treat for the winter though, definitely a bit too much on a hot summer day.
The store has lots of seating indoors and limited outdoors tables overlooking Christ Church college.
B. R.
The best muffins made in the shop I have ever tasted blueberry muffin is my favourite, ice cream is amazing. I had a warm muffin and vanilla ice cream and cuppa tea, I was in heaven thank you so much guys, really friendly warm welcome fantastic experience. I will use again and again for special time treats. kind regards Ben stay safe and one love
H. T.
Best ice cream we've eaten in a long time. Knowledgeable about allergens too. Sorbets and ice creams available, also lunch meals if you want savoury options.
J. M.
Great icecream flavours, always with a great selection of lovely baked treats, all for a reasonable price! Pizza bagels are lovely too! Wrote many a piece of coursework in various G&Ds!
R. A.
Ice cream is amazing ,love it but today they were so short staffed , we waited a long time to be served at the counter then just as we thought we would be served, the member of staff went off to plate a waffle order , It wasn’t her fault but it was obvious they were so stretched . Also I saw a member of staff chop up cooked bacon on a green board that he had previously cut up tomatoes on , so more training needed . if I was a vegetarian I would be worried.
O. G.
The best green tea ice cream ever !
Recommend!
A. R.
Stopped by for some ice cream whilst on a random trip to Oxford - chocolate brownie flavour had nice chunks of brownie in. Staff friendly and polite :)
R. G.
Tasty bagels and homemade ice creams. Great for grabbing a quick bite or for sitting and enjoying the music and food.
R. S.
Nice place to spend time together.
Staff are very kind & the ice cream is lovely
S. W.
Daim cookie and ice cream flavour tasted really nice but I think it was a bit overpriced for Oxford prices. I was quite surprised how big and varied the menu was in this cafe. Ice cream flavours are interesting here and they served ice cream at 9pm which was nice. Scoop could have been a bit bigger for the price.
Comfy cafe atmosphere, music choice was good.
o. p.
Really good place for desserts and a quick snack. Amazing variety of handmade ice cream flavours.
K.
Loveliest staff ever! My partner and I were having an awful time while it was pouring with rain, walking around Oxford not knowing where we were (not local), after being let down by multiple taxis. Wandered into G&D to ask for help, and were greeted by two smiling ladies who were more than happy to help us call a taxi and get back to our hotel, even have us a free pot of ice cream for our troubles. I’ve never met such helpful and welcoming people! Ice cream was incredible and the service was even better, thank you both so much!
T. P.
My go-to place for ice cream when in Oxford. They have many flavours to choose from, but I highly recommend banana and honey (with crunchy bits inside), pistachio, rum and green tea are also great! It’s £4.75 for two scoops in a cup and they are only open for takeout at the moment.
G. W.
Been here three time in the last 2 weeks, reccomend getting smoked salmon bagel for lunch and the banana ice cream is my new favourite, brilliant place to bring little legs for a treat!
R. L.
I have long enjoyed G&D's ice cream so I was keen to go back when I visited last weekend. As it was a sunny Saturday it was very busy but it wasn't a ridiculous wait. I had a coffee ice cream in a cone which was a good size for the money and very tasty. The lady who served me was obviously busy which meant she could not be bothered with smiling or any niceties which was a shame as it felt a but conveyer belt-like. The cafe was very busy so it was much nicer to take my ice cream down to the meadows and eat it there.
C. B.
Nice place. Very tasty brownies with ice-cream.
I. K.
Delicious ice creams to take away with different flavors , ( apparently changing with season, because you have flavors of the day) staff are friendly and helpful ( to choose between different flavors you can taste it before) , the only negative point is the queue, very long but it is worth it, just delicious 😋
C. H.
Lovely ice-cream parlour 🌞
B. K.
The staff was so kind and nice. The ice-cream was delicious. I recommend!!!
A. D.
Nice cafe with good coffee and great ice cream. Bar stools in the windows are great for people watching!!
T. M.
The food here is great, particularly the cookie monster (ice cream sandwiched between two cookies). Not the cosiest, and can get very busy, but the food more than makes up for it. It can also get very warm inside - we were very much overheating on a relatively warm summer day, and I think they were struggling to keep the ice cream completely frozen.
M. W.
Very popular range of homemade ice creams. Generous single scoop serving.
S. W.
Good ice cream but only had one choice of topping when we visited
Z.
Great ice cream! The staff is very friendly even on busy days
H. G.
Beautiful ice cream and sorbet! Excellent customer service as well.
J. K.
Really nice and cozy cofe. You can eat sandwiches and cookies, cakes. There is a bathroom in the basement. The staff is smiling and the coffee we got was the best in the UK (almost better than in Italy! :) ).
D. V.
I had the pastrami and the smoke salmon bagels, just delicious!
So worth the waiting in the queue.
K. C.
Very good ice cream place. Seating available. Quick friendly service.
M. S.
Super friendly and fast service. Good food and coffee. Free water. Thank you very much!
C. K.
The ice cream here is so rich. It tastes really great and definitely different from store-bought ice cream.
J. A.
Just as delicious as I remember. Great relaxed place to grab a cold snack in Oxford, especially if you're into slightly less conventional ice cream flavours.
V. S.
A lovely place to taste a great ice cream and all the various combinations with it -- sundae, waffles etc. Flavours choice is a bit limited but always has some decent optiona to try. Definitely recommend.
y. d.
I love the G&D’s waffles and the ice creams! Comfort food 😍👍🏼
V. A.
One of the best ice creams I have had outside London.
Very good value for money. Definitely aren't trying to fleece their customers like so many other establishment in Oxford.
All the flavours are delicious.! Great for the kids!
M. A.
Best ice cream in the UK 😍🤤
M. J.
The ice cream was delicious and I tried a new flavour - Turkish Delight, and it wasn't bad. Sometimes you have to be open to change.
A. D.
Extraordinary bagels. Creamy and delicious ice cream. Lush looking coffee. Expect to queue.
M. S.
lovely place. always open untill late night. 3scoops icecream is 5£. and they offer also good other desserts. vivid colorful interiors! and fancy. nice good staffs. I love this place. :)
F. L.
This is one of those places that you simply have to visit when you go to Oxford. Staff are friendly, location is perfect, and the ice cream is to die for. The 'cookie monster' (a scoop of your choice of ice cream sandwiched between two warm cookies) is so amazing it's worth visiting Oxford just for that! I should also mention that all the ice cream is homemade and truly amazing.
T. S.
Friendly staff. Amazing ice cream. Overall a good place
J. R.
Tried the Vanilla, Coconut, and Mango Ice Cream, was amazing!
C. c.
Lovely ice cream with salty caramel:p
J. A.
This is where I go to when I need to find some delicious ice-cream in Oxford. I have been going to G&D for years and I have always found their ice cream full of flavour, full of be it fruit or sweets, it doesn't leave a powder like after taste as they use very good ingredients. Also the monthly flavours make me want to go back. I used to buy more ice cream than savory food. I have fond memories of going here and bringing friends and family who also loved here. I highly recommended it. Thank you
A. B.
I went here after seeing it on Timeout. I had a milkshake, which was nice and made with the in house gelato. The choice of flavours was not as prolific as I’d expected, but it was a nice change from chains like Creams
M. P.
Coffee ice-cream! Fantastic ice-cream. Highly recommended
R. C.
A great ice cream place with friendly staff and a nice comfy atmosphere.
Got the raspberry sorbet and was really impressed, probably one of the best sorbets I've had, would definitely return.
A. U.
Ice-creams are rich and delicious, milky options are a bit too sweet (but good), raspberry sorbet is very good. Coffee is very good, freshly roasted and flavourful.
A. S.
Friendly staff. Amazing ice cream, brownies, waffles, muffins and food!
If you're visiting the area this is a must visit ice cream shop and cafe.
A. A.
OmNomNomz G&D's... One of the best ice-cream you can get in Oxford. One of the various G&D ice-cream shops around Oxford. They all have slightly different names, but are part of the same brand. They make their own ice-cream and have a multitude of exciting flavours. And you don't have to worry about the paradox of choice as they let you try the different flavours!! And yes they are super nice about it, even if you end up trying all the flavours before you decide what to get! Definitely worth a visit, especially if you want a nice cold dessert in the short Oxford summer d:
J. W.
Poppy seeds with scrambled eggs and chives is good for breakfast in SUNNY DAY.
A. S.
Oxford landmark, not living up to the high standard I remember. Food and coffee was good, service okay, but the table felt like it was cleaned with a dirty cloth.
P. M.
Enjoyed the lovely bagels and very tasty waffles. Great efficient service!
E. C.
Amazing ice cream with such massive portion! Bagels were served hot, very tasty!
M. T.
This would normally of been a 5 star review. My family love G&D's but yesterday we visited and it was not at the same standard. The salad was old and the bagels felt stale. It was also not the cleanest. I hope things improve!
D. K.
Quite firm but very tasty ice cream!
Recommend the brownie sundae
Y. H.
Every staff here is nice and warm. And also good coffee cookie and a lovely view!
E. M.
Ice cream is so creamy (Daim is a favourite!) and waffles are a hearty warmer on a windy day. View isn't great from outdoor seating but perfect for takeaway!
J. M. N. N.
Nice Brownie Sundae, absolutely tasteless vanilla ice cream though
T. H.
Excellent home made ice-cream. Regular and unusual flavours. Rosemary and salt flavour was delicious. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
I. S.
The milkshakes are amazing.
S. R.
They have the best ice cream in town. It's a chain store in Oxford and Jerricho one have more flavours available than this one which is opposite Christ Church College.
F. G.
Great drinks and service. The Holy Cow with Chocolate Orange ice cream is highly recommended
H. V.
Great cafe with more than just ice cream!
George and Danver have amazing ice cream too, milkshake selections. I was impressed with the level of customer service and would recommend to others who are visiting Oxford and would like a reasonably priced cafe, very close to central Oxford.
A. V. (.
Very good, super... Fantastic 🏆
O. R.
Amazing local ice cream, lots of choice of flavours and not overpriced. Highly recommend the vanilla ice cream with chocolate brownie chunks! There's also another location down the Cowley Road too which is just as good!
J. H.
Excellent cafe. Super friendly staff and really good food and ice-cream.
N. R.
Absolutely delicious bagel - cross section about 2 inches of fresh veggies and meats, with a perfectly toasted sesame exterior. Icecream was great too - and service to match. Worth a stop to fuel a sunny stroll in the area.
D. Z.
Decadent and Delicious Turkish Delight Ice Cream....
T. P.
Decent late-night ice cream & café venue with friendly service.
D. D.
Really fast and friendly service, fresh bagels and lots of options.
We thought it was excellent value before the half price deal (eat out to help out, covid response).
Also excellent ice cream, and again very good value.
O. V.
Great ice cream!
Friendly staff
M. G.
Very nice coffee and extremely tasty flapjack thoroughly recommend 👌
A. A.
The best ice cream in oxford but not very clean
C. A.
One of my favourite Oxford highlights. You must go here for the ice cream, it is to die for. Fully student run cafe which is also nice to see students being supported. Great selection of freshly prepared food to go or eat in.
Z. C.
Brilliant treat. Its worth paying a bit more for the 'Monster' portion which gets you three flavours for £5. We really liked the green tea flavour, and even the sorbet (raspberry) was amazing and very intense in flavour. One thing they can improve is to wash down the outdoor seating every morning as there is a strong urine smell when you sit there, this totally spoils the moment.
T. W. R.
Classic place for student in Oxford to hangout with nice ice-cream. Holy Cow is very good. Good selections of high quality bagels as well. Some ice-cream can be on a sweet side so make sure you try them to fit to your liking. My favourite is matcha..
H. C.
This is a cafe + ice cream shop. For the ice cream, the selection is rather limited and consists of basic flavours (with some interesting options). Nonetheless, good ice cream. One of the better options to have ice cream in Oxford. Friendly staff. Expect queue during the busy period.
E. P.
Love G&D, such a treat. Been there in all states of emotion. Try a Holy Cow (hot chocolate with a scoop of ice cream in it), your whole life will change 😂🤤😍
The staff are always looovely. Delicious bagels too, and tasty baked goods - not forgetting the homemade ice cream which is genuinely one of a kind 😍
R. B.
The sundae brownie was mouthwatering ❣️
K. M.
Worth a visit we just had ice cream but every thing looked yummy.
N. P.
Amazing service and delicious tastes from an always busy ice cream parlor that's been a landmark in Oxford for over twenty years.
K. G.
An Oxford institution, I suppose. The ice cream is great and I can't fault it. The prices are pretty standard for such places and the flavours available are quite exciting. I would have given four stars, but I had a bagel here once and it was really bad.
Stick to the ice cream - it's really nice!
A. P.
Very nice but a tad pricy ..
Not a daily treat for us sadly
A. M.
Always decent. Waffle was slightly undercooked.
M. I.
Excellent service!, friendly staff and nice location, had an 2 scoop ice cream i think for £2 something and it was nice and filling. Nice place to just relax and enjoy a dessert or two!
M. C.
Great ice cream in loads of different flavours which change regularly. Super friendly too
A. K.
You have to wait too uch time in the queue for an average ice cream. Limited choices of flavours. Staff working non stop.
a. h.
always the best ice-cream in oxford perhaps uk...always packed
F. M.
Great ice-creams! We bought takeaway lunches too, which were excellent!
R. I.
Amazing Pistachio ice-cream
S. L.
Great ice-cream with lots of choice. Really tasty bagel sandwiches and the staff are really friendly
A. L.
Food was good, value to money, warm and clean. Nice place to have a coffee and chat :)) popular student place.
M. B.
Great ice cream with a variety of flavours that changes regularly and friendly staff. They will also melt ice cream into hot chocolate if you ask - I fully recommend this...
b. h.
I can't visit Oxford without at least once calling by, ideally at 10-11 O'clock at night remembering my student days, for it is only when you spend all night working on a paper interjected with coffee and ice cream you begin to understand the sublime brilliance of having an ice cream shop open until midnight. The Oxford blue(berry) ice cream comes highly recommend, as indeed does everything else with the milk for the ice cream being provided by local cows. For those needing something more substantial the traditional array of bagels and panninis can be found.
S. R.
Always stop here for ice-cream when in Oxford. Tasty! Love their pistachio and Turkish delight.
N. N.
Awesome ice cream, waffles, bagels and coffee. Fast friendly service. I thoroughly recommend this place. They make their own ice cream
J. W.
Always friendly service, great bagels, and first-class ice cream.
R. P.
Really nice place with a lovely atmosphere and amazing food! Highly recommend the ice creams and the bagels without forgetting the freshly baked and delicious waffles.
C. H.
G&D's is an Oxford staple. Great ice cream and great atmosphere.
J.
Really great dessert place, the ice cream cookie sandwiches were delicious!
S. C.
If you haven't done G&Ds you haven't done Oxford. Ice cream made in their basement and you can petition for flavours (try the B52 ice cream if it's on) including Parma Violets and Butterbeer! Are you a cookie monster fan or maybe a waffle sundae? Coke floats and Holy cows (just ask) also available. It isn't all sweet as they have a range of fresh bagels too. Great service, appearance and ingredients.
H. K.
Great cappuccino (dubble shot)
P. M.
Great place with a delicious icecream where you can always smell a cake in the oven...
D. A.
Only had coffee (which was very well made). But the ice cream and waffles looked great
T. L.
I come here everytime I have an exam at the church next door and the food and coffee is always spot on!!
A. H.
This ice cream is DELICIOUS!
lovely friendly staff and reasonable prices.
S. G.
Very nice cozy shop, lovely selection of ice creams, shakes and cold and hot foods
a. w.
Well run coffee, ice cream and cake place. But that's it.
A. P.
Delicious ice cream but absolutely terrible coffee. Great place to meet and enjoy for a little longer. But really, Illy is such a great brand for independent shops, don't get the cheap stuff.
A. P.
One of the best Ice Cream shops ever. Awesome. Freshly made. Been a couple of years since I've been and going back today was pure delicious nostalgia!
N. C.
Lovely venue to chill out in whilst in town
A. B.
Best ice creams in Oxford! Rich and full flavour, variety of choices. Bit more expensive than in other places but worth every penny! Portions are good sized. Sometimes can get very busy but worth waiting :-)
A. W.
This cafe is in an excellent location close to the centre and to the bus stops. This is ideal for people who need to wait for a bus or who want to have a nice ice cream / coffee in front of Christ Church. I would recommend doing to this cafe and I will come back again
S. k.
I like this place for ice cream's, when I walk in town near by, coffee is not the best in town but never wait, always free place to seat. Just good stop.
G. B.
Best for ice cream, bagels, coffee. Quiet mid-morning for a meeting or chat. Needs to update though- it hasn't changed in 20 years! But still, for a piece of authentic student central oxford, and the best (or the most unusual - try a "petition-flavour"!) Ice creams, this is the place.
E. H.
Great ice cream, coffee, and waffles.
S. O.
Good food, friendly staff ...
J. R.
Went there over the Bank Holiday Weekend (End of May 2021) and the staff were very friendly. There is also a large array of options. Highly recommended.
S. M.
Had coffee, jasmine tea, and waffles with ice cream. Coffee was good, tea and waffles were very good. Service was meh, but it was 9pm on Friday night, so can be forgiven. Will go again!
F. H.
Best ice cream ever! Oxford blue Delicious
L. G.
Staff are very friendly and icecream was fab but a bit expensive for what you get
L. F.
Nice ice cream and nice hot chocolate. A cute place to sit and relax.
M. B.
The menu choice is simple, but very good - mainly bagels with various fillings, hot or cold. It has a good selection if ice creams and teas as well.
A. P.
Love this place where else can you get a very late night waffle and coffee ❤️
M. C.
Best ice-cream in town, bar none.
E. M.
Simply the best ice cream in Oxford. Often a long queue, but worth the wait. They'll let you try flavours, worth testing some of the more unusual ones before committing. All their ice cream is made in house.
L. C.
Lovely bagels, warm cookies, lava cakes with the most delicious ice creams - love this place!
T. W.
Ice cream is delicious and there is a nice atmosphere.
e. h.
Great customer service.. And quite a lot of ice for 2 scoops. The gentleman at the till was so friendly. We even gave my ice cream combo a name, strawreos (Strawberry and Oreos) ❤❤
I. K.
10/10 excellent staff and ice cream options
B. C.
Delicious ice-cream. Arguably the best in Oxford. Splendid bagels too inc. the pizza ones. Can get very busy during tourist season but the staff are normally pretty efficient.
G. S.
Absolutely fabulous icecream! What more needs saying. It was worth waiting in the queue.
B. P.
Good coffee and the best ice cream town
A. J. M.
Amazing opening hours. Friendly staff. Superb selection of ice-cream.
M. T.
Excellent blackcurrant ice cream!!
G. H.
Nice atmosphere, plenty of seats and close to everything.
j. T.
It have good flavors of ice cream but the price was a little bit high .
F. M.
Very friendly staff, good food, amazing ice cream!
E. T.
Absolutely wonderful place. The home made ice cream and waffles are the absolute best. The Bagels are good too, but who wants bagels when you can have waffles?
A. S.
Great tasting ice cream, fabulous portions
J. L.
Great bagels, decent ice cream and open conveniently late.
A. A.
Fantastic homemade ice cream and bagels. The holy cow is a must try - hot chocolate made with steamed ice cream of your choice instead of milk. A guilty pleasure, but oh so worth it!
H. M.
Nice coffee bagel & ice cream place
J. L.
There is a local cult following for the G&D branches. Although the ice cream is great, the other baked goods are just average.
J. H.
Great bagels and great icecream, though can get busy
V. S.
Very busy friendly popular place 😀
A. A.
Delicious ice creams
S. L.
I get a coffee on cold days and ice cream on hot days while waiting for a bus. Good selection of ice creams but not over keen on coffee but its passable.
J. S.
Fantastic ice cream, milkshake and bagel. Small cafe with some tables inside.
S. M.
I just love their hot chocolate but last time I went there I got cow's milk instead of soya. I'm vegan and it was disgusting.
k.
Just had a meeting and ice-cream at G&D's and both were great! Ice-cream was awesome, try for yourself!
N. J.
Good ice cream!
J. L.
Not sure where this place is, maybe in Oxford as I was there 3 days ago, but for mug of tea, not ice cream. I looked at the ice cream prices and thought they were expensive and besides I had already consumed one!
M. R.
When im in Oxford i come here all the time for coffee and a bagel in the evenings. They also do good homemade ice cream. It's not as good as the ice cream I get at home (Langauge Farm icecream cant be beaten) but it is very good.
A. T.
Come here for a great ice cream.
R. H.
This place is always excellent. The best coffee, bagels and ice cream in all of Oxford.
D. L.
Good ice cream parlour - wide variety of flavours and evidently very popular. Waffles were tasty too, I can attest to that.
N. P.
An Oxford institution, always my first thought on a sunny day. Great coffee, bagels and of course ice cream!
A. N.
Best ice cream in town!
I. M.
Lovely flavours but expensive for what you get
B. H.
Nice coffee shop and ice cream parlour
V. K.
Had the Ferrero rocher in a waffle and it was quite delicious.
A. P.
Nice icecream flavours, delicious waffles, and finally - somewhere in Oxford that serves filter coffee and not just Americano.
R. H.
This is a lovely little venue nicely placed right near some of Oxford's colleges. We went for coffees and ice cream, on the recommendation of an alumni who used to visit a lot during his studies.
The range of ice creams is substantial and the ones we tasted were great, as was the coffee.
This place was very busy on the saturday afternoon we went so make sure if you see a spare table when you walk in to go for it quickly!
A. M.
Ironically their bagel sandwiches are better than their ice creams.
N. N. N.
Wonderful home-made icecream, tasted really nice, especially The Oxford Blue flavour. Amazing prize, £3,5 for 2 scoops. Just love it!
l. b.
Fantastic ice cream and good coffee!
M. H.
A famous but somewhat overrated ice cream parlour. Nothing wrong with the ice cream but it's not Italian gelato standards and its pretty expensive. The main reason to avoid it is the crowds. It's always packed and you're lucky to find somewhere to sit.
H. H.
Best ice cream I've ever had. Good price. Friendly staff. Nice decoration.
r. k.
Great service friendly staff and great hot chocolate
C. W.
The staff on this morning are super sweet and welcoming. The new worker also did fabulously!

Best Ice Cream in Oxford! Lots of good stuff in here... quick lunches are also great!
H. B.
Excellent local ice cream.
M. M.
Good chocolate ice cream. Beware though, the scoops are massive. I don't think I need diner after getting two.
R. G.
Ammmmmmaaazzzing cream. Dolche deliche and the Turkosh delight. They are the best two flavors. Don't worry about the ques they get people in and out.
Y. L.
G&Ds! Any former Oxonian will testify that this place has placated many a late night cravings. The Oxford Blue flavour is unique an super creamy.
k. h.
Excellent icecream
j. d.
Very tasty ice cream. I enjoyed a scoop of salted caramel and a scoop of spekulatius
C. O.
Good coffee, great music! Nice selection of cookies and ice creams as well. In your face Costa!
N. B.
One of the best coffee and ice cream places in Oxford. Perfect place to sit and do some work or hang out with friends.
J. M.
Delicious icecreams and hot chocolate with a great selection of bagels and sweet treats. Nice cosy atmosphere and plenty of seaying room downstairs too. A must do for sweet teether folk.
J. W.
Lovely staff, lovely ice cream, lovely coffee and lovely experience!
J. D.
Great establishment, simple as that really. Best coffee in the local area.
K. C. W.
Friendly staffs and tasty ice cream
T. P.
My favourite cafe in all Oxford.
Excellent range of tea, coffee, cakes, bagels, and caffeine free / soft drinks.
Best of all: open to midnight - why don't more cafes do that?
R. W.
Not just ice cream but bagels and apple pie also available. Decaff coffee not so good as in the past
L. W.
The waffles are very good! Looking forward to going back soon.
B. D.
Chocolate flavour was really nice but the mango was really more like vanilla with bad milk. Too pricey
C. H.
Friendly staff, ice cream is very tasty 😁
F. L.
Good variety of tasty bagels for reasonable prices. I haven't tried the ice cream yet, but I will soon!
A. U.
Great handmade ice-cream, loads of dessert options, the holy cows are the best! (hot chocolate ice cream float)
A. D.

It's a great place to sit and talk with freinds and have great food and drink

the best ice cream
A. K. (. К.
Absolute must if you're visiting Oxford! Good quality and very creative ice cream (made by them), lovely staff. Three stores - St Aldate's, Cowley, and Little Clarendon Road - all very good. Got me through some of the hardest times - a comfort and a workplace! Open until midnight, so great alternative to pubs.
Y. M.
Ice creams were good, the place could have been a bit cleaner.
R. D.
Good ice cream, a little expensive though
N. P.
Best ice cream in town
M. “. C.
Fantastic ice cream and waffles multitude of flavours, always worth a visit when in Oxford. Brings back happy memories visiting with my wife from when she was at university in Oxford so always make sure to visit G&Ds and never dissapointed.
F. W.
Excellent bagels, coffee, and atmosphere. Spacious, clean, and perfect for chilled afternoons working and socialising.
A.
Love G&Ds for a bagel (there's a huge range of fillings and options on the bagel toppings) and a warmed chocolate brownie, washed down with mint tea. Their ice cream is great too.
S.
I thought they only sold ice cream but they also have bagels and salads. The ice cream has fun names and everything looked delicious. I ate a ceasar salad which was well presented and tasted good. Unfortunately couldn't finish it due to the horrendous gritty texture. I hope it was just a little dirt from unwashed lettuce, I have never experienced that in a salad before and to be honest it has put me off returning.
M. R.
The finest ice-cream in the country south farthing - Bilbo

j. d.
Best ice cream in Oxford, made locally, try the 'Daim Bar Crunch'!
H. A.
The ice cream is fine, for British standards even good but it is overpriced. I just bought the tiniest milkshake for 4.50£. Additionally, there is better and cheaper milkshakes in Oxford.
M. T.
Nice place but staff don't care about amount of people inside during pandemic
T. P.
Delicious ice cream !
S. B.
Great ice cream. Great waffles. What's not to like.
R. K.
They had very good coffee, yet would've appreciated free Wi-Fi. Highly recommended.
R. H.
Best ice cream ever
T. N.
This is an Oxford institution, and whilst not quite as nice as it's Cowley cousin it's a great place to meet up for a hot drink and an ice cream and/or baked item.
N. A.
Best ice cream in Oxford
A. C.
Great bagels and friendly staff
A. H.
Good coffee and friendly service
S. R.
Good place to stop by while waiting for tour bus
T. F.
Their hot food should be considered as well as ice cream, as both are delicious!
R. D.
If you're in Oxford, one of the G&D's is *always* a good place to stop for ice cream. There's a good selection of flavours of ice cream and sorbet, a choice of toppings and you can even have it sandwiched between two thick chocolate or dime bar cookies.
They can make coffee and hot chocolate with ice cream too.
There's savoury snack options available too, like the pizza bagel!
B. S.
Amazing ice-cream
M.
Great ice cream , plus other up- market snacks and salads
C. T.
Right listen here now. This ice cream, this ice cream is 7/5 on a scale of not so cool to ice cool ice cream. The people are lovely and all up for a chat on ice cream. Good for groups as the downstairs is big and has a large seating area. Not only ice-cream is good the bagels are easily the best in Oxford...EASILY. Waffle and brownie sundaes are made fresh and to order. Not even joking here boys, girls and helicopters although the prices are steeper than you'd maybe want them to be, it's more than worth it.
If you're here as a group of 3/4 don't go for individual scoops which will cost 7.50/10 pounds, go for the half pints of ice-cream, 3 flavours hand packed, all for 5 pounds and trust me here...it's a challenge to eat all the product.
Vegetarian? Don't you worry yourself into a pepperoni meat feast 17 inch pizza, the veggie bagel is beyond your wildest free range, GMO free, organic dreams.
Vegan? (Yes Boi. Welcome to the master race) The G+Ds team can cater for you too, the sorbets are just fruit juice, water and teeth decaying sucrose. The bagels too are vegan AF.
If you're into a midday till midnight rave then some of the best Shrek 1/2/3 hits are playing at all times...just for you.
M. B.
Nice coffee an a friendly little cafe in the middle of Oxford.
H. S.

Big scoops of salted caramel + pistachio ice cream. Real ice cream. Eleven out of ten !
M. B.
Food service was OK. Bagels were average. Not sure why Oxfordians rave about it so much....
S. H.
Great ice cream
M. J.
Friendly staff and Ice cream selection is always on time.

Amazing ice cream
J. m.
It used to be opposite the bus stop on my way home from work when I worked in Oxford and usually had to wait a while for a bus at night, had decent coffee, toilets, warmth, shelter, music. A cute girl allegedly from Aberdeen worked there circa 2004, although she didn't sound like she was from Aberdeen. Then again, those WERE pretty strange times.
T. R.
nice ice creams.
R. B.
Really good ice-cream
T. B.
Fantastic. A real bagel joint.
J. “. N. E.
I mixed their own hazelnut limited ed. ice cream and their chocolate one to create a delicious chocolate praline- tasting milkshake! A must for every hazelnut lover! Almost as good as a high quality hazelnut gelato!
Mixed feelings about the inside of the café. The room is nicely lit with daylight coming from the windows pointing to the street. The tables are nice and can be used to study by. But there is no WiFi and the toilets are very dirty and small(!). The furnishing is anonymous and looks like a cheap dorm from the 80s. They might benefit from a rebranding or at least a more distinct image.
B.
The tuna sweetcorn pizza bagel was lovely
