I normally do switch companies as in the past I have found it pays to do so , but after searching severally others this time I found it was cheaper for me to stay with Brightside, Thankfully I have never had to make a claim, but have rang them to alter my policy. Brightside were the cheapest that I managed to get on a compare website. All the staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful. The reason I haven't given 5 stars is because I encountered some issues with them whilst setting up. After signing the contract and agreeing prices, they decided to bump up my policy, luckily enough I noticed in an email they sent and phoned up, apparently any form of charges up to £100 can be added onto your account without notifying you first. Because they use a finance company to sort the payments their interest is also put ontop of that for changing the policy plus the admin fee to do so even if it isn't a change from yourself.

I was up against a deadline and needed car insurance fast. I called several companies after researching them via the price comparison websites. I had conversations with about half a dozen companies and it's amazing what that process can reveal about how different businesses operate. A tiny difference in the level of customer service can make a big difference when your calling and speaking to many in a short period of time. The worst thing they can do is put you on hold!! it doesn't take long for me to ditch them if they can't get the customer service right. Brightside Insurance came top of the search results and the customer service was great and the attention to details was spot on. I was really pleased with the way they handled my business. I would highly recommend them. 5 Stars all day long.

Had an issue with my no claims bonus due to some unfortunate circumstances. Lewis who cordinated my cancellation and sent me through to the sales team for a new insurance quote was absolutely fantastic! He was a champion from start to finish, instantly reduced my anxiety and stress relating to the issues and didn't leave me in massive debt! It was very easy and clear to add what I wanted to my new car insurance policy and setting it all up was well communicated.
Created my account with no problems and all documents were ready to view straightaway.
Reason for dropping a star was the process of uploading required docs (no claims bonus proof & check my licence code) it was a nightmare and took two hours.... in the end I just emailed them, which they were happy with.

Quoted me a decent price last year and renewal this year was within a pound of last year. Changing my bike to a newer model, phoned them up with 11 months left on policy with credit card in hand. Spoke to a very helpful bloke who sorted out the change and then informed me that there was no charge. I'm happy. :)

I've been with Brightside for a few years now as their renewal quotes have been very competitive against search engine quotes. This year, the only quote that beat their renewal offer was by them if I were a new customer. After speaking to one of their reps, I was offered a reduction that matched it! The rep was polite and professional, and I was impressed with the service. Good stuff!

Minor teething problems dealt with efficiently after a phone call, yes I had to wait on hold, but was answered in about 20 mins, and they were very professional and helpful. The automated email system threatened to cancel my insurance after this, but Brightside apologetically answered my concerned email and have been true to their word. I came across Brightside insurance through Go Compare, which I have used in recent times and found to be very useful. Loyalty to companies does not work for me, because I have noticed that if I remain with one company the price invariably goes up year on year, in spite of my car getting older each year. I chose Brightside this time because the price was right, in keeping with my budget and the age of my car and the fact that I have not made any claims for years. I think that consideration should be given to drivers who have had no claims over a long period of time.
I have not been aware of this company in the past, so I have yet to see outcomes. I will be happy to make comment in the future.

Very thorough and they took the time to ensure that my policy was accurate. Excellent customer service and the gents I spoke to (I had to have 2 calls due to gathering additional information, and both calls I was contacted at the agreed time) really knew their business. As an example they discussed the option to have excess cover which no broker or insurer has ever mentioned to me before, and after discussing in some detail it really became a no brainier. Seriously wish i had known about this option last year on my older policy with another insurance company as I had to make a claim when some loser hit my car whist I was away on business and did not leave their details seeing me £350 out of pocket and my renewal quote go sky high. Now with the excess policy in place I have the peace of mind that if something like this happens again I can claim back my mandatory and voluntary excess in full up to £1000 (basically twice in the 1 policy year as my excess this year s £475)
They are a broker, so they have their limitations, but I am pleased i made the decision to contact them, and I will seriously consider contacting them again when my home insurance is due.

Well looking at the other bad reviews on here I can’t relate at all....although most of the 1 star ratings begin with the customer not doing the right thing.
Anyway, just taken a policy out with them, was very easy to upload docs (NCB/DL Check Code) and their communication was clear with frequent reminders. Have only given 4 stars as I haven’t had to contact them with regards to a claim etc. As it stands I would definitely recommend.

I've taken up Brightside's invitation to comment on them, but not sure they'll relish reading this. I got a quote through Confused.com but for reasons unknown, I was unable to purchase the policy online. So I rang Brightside the next day (tick in the box here for actually being able to speak with someone unlike some other insurers, e.g. QuoteMeHappy); the lady I spoke with suggested it was because the date of a claim in October 2015 was not the spot-on date - I've always guessed at the 15th of the month whereas in fact she told me it had been the 29th [which begs the question: if insurers have immediate access to an applicant's previous claims history, then why is it asked for during the application - I'm sure I can't be the first person who cannot recall the exact date of an old claim - I thought I'd always done well to remember the month and year]. The lady did a re-quote using the correct date and it came out about £6 higher. I queried this and she said it was because of the different date of the old claim. Although intrigued by this, I still went ahead over the phone and purchased the policy. However - when I reviewed my policy documents in the portal, the Insurance Proposal only asks about claims within the last 3 years, so why was there such a fuss about a claim from 4 and a half years ago? I emailed Brightside immediately (28th Apr) querying the principle of this (the additional premium was only £6), but having not had a reply by 7th May, I emailed again. To date (24th May) I've still not had a reply. Maybe their customer service does not stand out from the crowd after all.

Giving 4 stars for the actual insurance purposes as its the best price out there for the cover i need. However the phone service is poor and needs looking at, would prefer it to be a 24 hour service 7 days a week. If something were to happen over a weekend period or you need help and info you have to wait untill Monday morning then hopefully manage to get hold of them straight away or your kept on hold waiting for a considerably long time.

I took out cover for a car that I was intending to tidy up and use myself for a short while and then sell on. After 5 or 6 months I sold the car but did not cancel the insurance as I was considering buying another and would transfer the new vehicle to this policy. For several months I let it run without a car, mainly to obtain a further years NCD. I eventually bought another vehicle a 2010 Suzuki Jimny, and went online to change my vehicle. I was unable to do this online and had to ring Bright side who said the broker I was with would not insure this car, but they could find another that would, but I would have to start a fresh policy which I didn't want to do. I told them to forget it and just let the policy run til it expired and send me proof of my NCD. I was told I couldn't do this and had to cancel the policy which had approx two months left to run.They then told me I needed to pay £52 to cancel it. I refused to pay this and have eventually been given a £7 refund, and NCD back to where I started.

It's not a company that I have had any previous experience but I'm to have contacted them. Of course, the full value of an insurance company emerges when a claim is made. I had a quote online of £140 for empty property insurance and went through the process to pay. However you can't do it online and have to call. Lo and behold the £140 is only an estimate as "we have to ask more questions to confirm a quote". They didn't ask any more questions than were online and now the quote is £195! They were still cheaper than others so went with them.
Whilst on the call I enquired about cancellation and refunds and was advised they did but kept £50 which was their commission, fair enough. I was then advised to listen to a recording after the call which stated on top of the £50, there was a £75 admin charge, I assume to press a button on a computer, and some additional charges.
Would i recommend them? After reading other reviews, probably not.

Unfortunately I had to get car insurance cover during the Covid lockdown. This caused problems as offices were closed and staff were working from home - for which I can't really blame Brightside for. I was with ebike insurance for 5 years my renewal this year came through but I was away nursing my sick mother. On arriving back home I found my renewal form contacted ebike who said as my renewal had expired I would have to take out a new policy with Brightside insurance. When I renewed I noticed there was some details that were wrong which I wouldn't of declared, like married or single I was married all the time I had my policy but it said single so was a bit confused about that
