First Mortgage is an outstanding service, with the team going above and beyond in helping you through the process, whether you're a first time buyer like us, or already experienced in purchasing a property. They provided advice and guidance all throughout the process, from start to finish, in a very professional and meticulous manner. Our dedicated mortgage advisor walked us though our financial and mortgage options, and our client relationship manager made sure to chase up the lender and keep us apprised of the progress of our application. I contacted First Mortgage to arrange finance for a buy to let property I had successfully offered on in Glasgow. We're blown away by the service we've received from First Mortgage and would happily recommend the place to everyone we know. That's it in a nutshell for anyone looking for some reassurance before they take the plunge! But there's more detail below about our specific experience with the company, different branches, and how we found it as British-Asian buyers. First Mortgage was recommended to us by three friends (who live across Edinburgh and Glasgow, so different branches, and all raved about the 5* service). Therefore, we were expecting great service already with efficiency and transparency. We got exactly that but also got total honesty, kindness, and remarkable helpfulness from Paul McNair, who was our mortgage broker throughout the experience from the Glasgow Partick branch. It wasn't a one-off either; we started our enquiry around January 2021 and Paul has remained the same steady, incredibly helpful and knowledgable advisor throughout and we're now in April. At one stage, Paul hand-delivered some paperwork to us as he lives a few minutes from our place and we didn't have a printer (for some paperwork that required a wet signature). Paul insisted on helping rather than us paying a small fortune to print the items. It also helped us avoid the Post Office (I'm asthmatic and so we take extra precautions due to COVID-19). Donna Pedan later was assigned as our relationship manager when our mortgage was being finalised. Again, we were treated with personal friendliness. I'm English-Bangladeshi and my husband is Scottish/part-Chinese. There can sometimes be a concern that you will be treated differently, perhaps not be seen as much a valuable client due to maybe some unconscious bias about financial situations, or our names can be pronounced incorrectly despite repeated corrections, which is really uncomfortable and frustrating, but there was nothing like that at all with First Mortgage. Paul was always full of laughter and couldn't have been more open and friendly, which made us feel like valuable clients. We also felt we could ask every question we had as first time buyers without feeling daft. Altogether a fantastic experience. I would recommend First Mortgage to all. If you've been on the fence and wondered if going to the lender directly might be best, I would say stuff that and try Fist Mortgage instead. Zero sales pressure and all the knowledge, and a real feeling that people who work here like Paul genuinely want you to get the best deal. We're now moving shortly to the home of our dreams, have a mortgage we are truly happy with, and are certain it's the best offer out there just now for our specific circumstances. In summary, a seamless and positive experience.

Buying my first home and the service was fantastic. Paul was incredibly helpful in advising me on the types of homes, how to look at a home report and what to watch out for - as well as giving me his advice whenever I sent a home report over to him. Was incredibly helpful and helped relieve some of that worry over of whether or not you're making the right choice. After that and finalising on the home I was going for the final meeting to sort the mortgage was smooth and Kelly kept me updated as that process continued on waiting to hear back for mortgage offer. I highly recommend First Mortgage on Dumbarton Road. Our consultation with Graeme was friendly and professional, he took time to understand our needs. He advised us on the best product, this was an exclusive to mortgage intermediaries so we would never have had this option if we went directly to the bank. Can’t recommend this place enough. We were let down by our bank last minute due to some furlough on our payslips and after reading the reviews went to first mortgages. Graham was amazing, so understanding and answering all our questions without making us feel stupid. He was so knowledgable about all the lenders and what was and wasn’t an option for ur. I contacted First Mortgage to help me source a mortgage as a self employed individual. I received a phone call from a very friendly and helpful member of staff who set me with with an appointment with Paul. Paul walked me through the process, making sure everything was explained simply and understood. Paul then took some info and ran some numbers to give me a flavour of how much I could afford and sent me house hunting telling me to contact him if / when I found a property. When I found said property Paul got me a deal in principal approved on what info I'd already provided. My offer was accepted and Paul booked me in to do a mortgage search and app, explaining exactly what info and docs I needed to bring. With the application submitted first time and with no hassle the case was passed to Scott. Scott kept on top of the application, chasing up when needed, contacting all parties on my behalf and kept me in the loop. I was asked to provide a new statement when it was available and that was it, mortgage got approved first time with very little effort by me. All in all the process was very simple and well managed with the team showing great expertise and a professional attitude to get everything processed and progressed for me with minimum fuss and maximum efficiency. I recently used first mortgage and broadly found the experience to be good. Positives: -Friendly helpful staff -Can put you in touch with lawyers if required -Generally smooth process Negatives: -When my contact was on holiday and I wanted an appointment I was told cases couldn't be passed between brokers. My case was then passed between 3 members of staff, this was frustrating and led to things being held up - Sales spin on insurance - I imagine this is where they get their commission I think its worth going in for an introductory meeting to get an idea

They received great reviews online, so I made an appointment. Mortgage advisor, Orazio explained everything and answered any questions I had (and there was probably a lot!). First Mortgage have a team dedicated to help people that are buying new build homes as things are done a bit differently when buying a new build. What can I say? I went into this new journey as a first time home buyer with my husband completely confused and terrified of how we were going to achieve getting our first mortgage.
