Bluebell took on a very complex challenge in securing me a very competitive mortgage. I am a British citizen, and a resident in Portugal. I needed a mortgage to buy a second home in the UK. Getting a vanilla lender to even consider this request was like pulling teeth. I got in touch with Bluebell who helped solve this challenge, and simply took it in their stride. Rachel Scrivenor and her team are amazing. They have helped take so much stress away from an incredibly long process purchasing a shared ownership home. From the very start Rachel was quick and efficient in resolving any issues and arranged the mortgage very quickly. I then purchased additional life assurance and income protection and the whole process was very smooth. My solicitors caused no end of problems due to a long delay and this resulted in having to re-apply for my mortgage again . It was all done very efficiently. As someone who has a heart valve condition I hadn't been able to get life insurance through any of the top companies and had even been told by other specialist brokers (after very long, drawn out processes) that they were unable to find anyone willing to provide me with cover. Bluebell Mortgages are the best mortgage brokers I have ever used (that's saying a lot as I have a lot of experience working alongside other mortgage brokers) the reason we used them is because our independent mortgage broker that we were using at the time took around 4 months to get back to us in regards to a buy to let mortgage and eventually told us he couldn't find any lenders that would help us remortgage as a buy to let as we had never done it before, I contacted Bluebell Mortgages and had an answer within the same day, it was an easy, quick and straight forward process and we managed to remortgage our house from start to finish within around a month and a half. Louise and Ben are extremely knowledgable, honest and helpful and dare I say I have actually enjoyed the process of remortgaging with them. I have already recommended them to other friends and family and in fact I am currently using them again for another property that I am purchasing and once again Louise has gone above and beyond, she is constantly updating us and pushing the lenders through as quickly as possible and even liaising with the estate agents. 5*!!!

This a mixed review due to the very mixed service that we received in buying our house employing Bluebell's brokerage services. To start with the good things Louise was very friendly and helpful, she helped us to realise more purchasing power and was always very responsive and helpful to calls and email. Where things went wrong was with the conveyancing. Louise 'recommended' O'Neill Patient LLP saying that Bluebell had an excellent working relationship with them and had tried more local solicitors but had not found them to be as good (O'Neill Patient are based in Stockport). Our experience with with O'Neill Patient was terrible, this is when I looked in to the 'recommendation' a bit further. There was a fee involved which had been glossed over by Louise, this was a fee that Bluebell are paid by the conveyancer to be 'recommended'. This fee was passed on to us so effectively the solicitors pay Bluebell to be recommended and then pass that cost on to us. This might be how things are done but I think it should have been made clear that Bluebell had a financial incentive to recommend O'Neill Patient to us rather than say it was to do with 'an excellent working relationship' etc. Louise got involved toward the end of protracted dealings with O'Neill Patient, it transpired that Bluebell is part of a syndicate of brokers which must have a bulk deal with O'Neill Patient (presumably to do with fees), hardly the personal working relationship that influenced us to go with the recommendation. We have friends who used a different mortgage broker and local conveyancer, they had a more complicated purchase (ours had no chain either side) yet completed much more quickly and smoothly. In summary while the service directly from Bluebell was good their solicitor recommendation was disingenuous and led to a drawn out and unnecessarily stressful transaction. We can't help but feel let down by Bluebell's lack of transparency around recommendations and fees (received by them, and paid by us indirectly). I would advise against using Bluebell's recommended conveyancer but rather finding someone more local (you can see them!) and better still with a personal recommendation.
