Reviews of HomeOwners Alliance

I used homeowners alliance to get a conveyancing quote with a generally negative experience. Whilst the online forms were fine, both homeowners alliance and the solicitors firm I was referred to responded to my very simple request for a quotation as if I’d already instructed them for work, which I needed to correct on multiple occasions to avoid being inadvertently liable for payments. I later received a request for payment from HOA, though this was quickly retracted as a system error.
Following posting of this review I’ve now spoken to someone from Homeowners alliance about my experiences and they seemed very receptive to the feedback and professional in their handling of the complaint. I have since updated my review accordingly.

I will strongly recommend Home owner alliance. I was having service charge dispute with my landlord and Naomi helped me lot throughout. Not only she advise but she checked all my correspondence with landlord and helped me checking form for Tribunal too. Without her help I could not find the information. I strongly recomond HOA worth spending £45 a year to get excellent and clear advise which high street solicitors would charge thousands. Strongly recomond

I just resolved a very stressful and complicated situation with the sale of my property with the help from Naomi and their team. Double agency fees dispute which I was involved with, received prompt and very wise advice which I followed and won! My lawyer would have charged me £500 to start with for this dispute. I am extremely satisfied with the outcome and it was just 45£ for the whole year membership. Worth every penny and more. I was desperate and I’d not know what to do. It was a life saver. Fantastic advice I would highly recommend it to anyone as UK legislation in property market is extremely difficult.

HomeOwners Alliance have been incredibly helpful and supportive in what has proved to be a challenging renovation. I received excellent advice from an architect and legal adviser regarding numerous issues that have arisen during our project and both Naomi and Paula have been there to offer additional advice and act as a liaison between the Alliance's professional advisers and myself. I highly recommend the Alliance.

Spoke to an advisor today who gave me clarification, reassurance, and helpful advice. I have had to call them a couple of times over these last few months for general advice on the property market. I am very glad to have found them on the internet. I am also very happy that I became a member and consider it good value. Considering that someone is always at the other end of the phone line when I have been in need of advice, my membership has been money well spent.
Having to deal with the property market business has sometimes been so overwhelming for me, and I can't thank HOA enough, except to tell them that their excellent service has been a godsend to my sanity! Thank you so much to all staff at HOA.

We got really helpful views from Naomi on an Agency Contract we are in the process of agreeing. It makes so much sense to sign up for the membership and get best practice advice as well as one 30 minute free legal call and questions answered. I wish I had known about this association sooner.

I wish I’d known about HomeOwners Alliance (HOA) before putting my property up for sale in February 2017. Had I gone onto their website at the time I would have been made aware of the 'tricks of the trade' used by some estate agents to entice you into selling your property through them. Inflating the sale price only then to begin rapidly reducing it due to little or no interest is one such practice! I was offered £100,000 below the asking price which should have rang alarm bells. If I’d known of this ploy, the last 4 months of feeling anxious; mistrustful of my estate agents’ intentions; and disheartened by so little interest in my property could have been avoided. It is likely that I also would not have ignored the bold print on the contract which tied me into a 4 week notice period!
Anyway, since joining HOA in April 2017 I have already had my monies worth. I had expert telephone advice from Naomi regarding my old contract which gave me the confidence to write a termination letter. Sophie and Naomi have been incredibly patient, kind and helpful and guided me through the complexities of my new estate agent contact which was sent to them and within 48 hours I received written feedback outlining the paragraphs that should be removed. I also had a telephone discussion with Sophie which again gave me the confidence to speak with Simon (new estate agent) about the changes. Suffice to say, following HOA's advice, all the paragraphs I asked to be amended, including the 'ready, willing and able' clause have been removed.
They say that selling/buying/moving ranks in the top 20 most stressful life events! While my experience with the first estate agent was a significant learning curve, it could have been avoided. The HOA £45 membership fee is one of those investments that keeps on giving and I would strongly advise everyone going through this process to join. I now feel more knowledgeable about my contract and the selling process; plus it makes a huge difference [to me] that Simon knows I have HOA in my corner.

Everyone at HOA was helpful and friendly. If there was a need for a particular person to get back to me, because they were currently busy, they would do so immediately they could. Even general information on the site is valuable and understandable and questions we wanted answered were really well supported. People just went the extra mile and we'd be happy to recommend them to anyone. Buying and selling a house can be a minefield, especially when our last experience was 42 years ago, but simple, straightforward advice from HOA was invaluable to us.

I started using HOA advice and service as a member last year when I purchased my first home. I have to say this is an extremely helpful organization and my experiences with them have been positive, esp. for someone who knows nothing about home purcahse in the UK and little social networks for related house purchase issues.

Have already benefitted from membership in many ways. The seller's guide alone was well worth the cost of joining but we've also used the estate agent finder, conveyancing quote comparison and (especially grateful for) the member's HelpLine. Thank you, Naomi! So glad to have found HomeOwners Alliance!
