Very proactive and informative - would definitely recommend! I used First Mortgage to advise on the purchase of my first house and can not recommend them enough. Chris was very attentive and booked me in very quickly after I first contacted him. His advice was clear and helpful and he was very proactive and responsive to any questions I had. Once my offer was accepted on a property, Chris walked me through the different options for the mortgage and insurance and recommended policies and companies which was really useful and gave me confidence in the decisions I was making. After the mortgage offer was in place, Yvonne took over the day-to-day management of my purchase and was in regular contact throughout the months leading up to completion. It was great to have another person making and chasing enquiries and made the process very smooth. I couldn't recommend Chris and Yvonne enough, I will definitely be using them for any future mortgage advise I need!

Had a really good experience at First Mortgage. We were First Time Buyers and their advice and help was essential for understanding the process of buying a house and getting a mortgage, as well as actually sourcing the mortgage for us. Without their advice, we would not have known what to do beyond viewing houses. Also, the whole process is free! Giving us "soft" mortgages-in-principle was really helpful for confirming with the vendor's estate agents that we had enough funds for the property, and allowed us to view properties and make offers. First Mortgage are always available to phone, if ever you have any questions or queries about the process. Their money is made by getting a fee from the mortgage provider (bank), so you are limited to whichever providers have agreed a fee, but there is still a large number. You will also be offered a variety of insurances to ensure you or your loved ones can always pay the mortgage (life insurance, sickness insurance). First Mortgage also take a fee here from the insurance companies. Feel free to decline to take the insurance (even if you've been in a meeting where they've asked you questions to figure out the best insurance for you) and focus on getting a mortgage through first, and then comeback to the insurance later. I have used First Mortgage a number of times now, and have also recommended friends and family to use them. The fact they offer a free service and always work to give the best information (whether that be a quick question, or looking to take out a full mortgage product) means I hold them in high regard. More recently, I have remortgaged again through First Mortgage. Both Weronika and Yvonne have been very supportive in this; taking the time to go through all figures (my setup was quite complex), and run through a variety of scenarios that I had in mind. This gave me the information to make the right choice for me at this time, but also gave me a goal to work toward in the future. They have both since regularly checked in with me throughout the remortgage process, and have acted as a proactive liaison with the solicitors and new mortgage provider to get the remortgage completed on schedule. While they also offer other products to support a mortgage, I've never found them to be pushy with sales tactics, which I think is very important. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for advice on mortgages or related products, or support with finding the right product for their goals and situation. Even for those just trying to play around with some ideas to see what is possible.

As a first time buyer, I had an amazing time working with Stuart and Yvonne. Most emails were responded to in up to 10 minutes. Initially, I was not sure if I should go with a recommended broker that charges £500 for the service or find something independently. I decided I want to save the money and went with these guys. My mortgage was approved within 1 week, I believe it was only because Yvonne knew exactly what documents will be required and asked me to submit them before applying for the mortgage, so it was all complete and no extra communications needed to be exchanged. This review is specifically for the Manchester office. I found First Mortgage online through the excellent reviews I read. I knew straight away I had to enlist them to help us with buying our first home. We were assigned to Anthony Haw who was excellent from the start. We really got the ball rolling in early January. Anthony is precise and pays a lot of attention to detail. He is also very approachable, friendly yet professional. His processes are meticulous and it’s easy to see that he is very knowledgeable and an expect in his field. There is no question that he can’t answer with certainty. Everything was so clear that when it came time for us to ask questions, we didn’t have any. Anthony recommended a lender, solicitors and insurance products to us. It was easy to see that every product was thought through and was the right one for us. We were then passed on to Keiren Thornton whilst awaiting our offer who provided us with a smooth transition. As first time buyers and having an uber basic understanding of the process, the dilemma we found ourself in when halifax changed their lending criteria made us feel like we'd simply lost our dream house. After an ill-advised emergency cigarette and a brief browse online I called First Mortgage. Stuart answered the phone and I could tell quickly we were onto the right people. Stuart really does know his stuff, but more importantly in my opinion, is clear in the way he explains everything. After a bit of digging Stuart came up with a great Mortgage for us and dealt with everything in terms of the application. We STRONGLY recommend using First Mortgage! We were first time buyers who recently moved back to the UK after working abroad for a few years. We both had gaps in our employment and little credit history in the UK which made it really challenging finding a mortgage. We used a different mortgage advisor at first who gave us the complete run around. When we were about to give up, we called First Mortgage and were put through to Weronika and her team - Yvonne and Kieren, and they were absolutely fantastic. We were going for a new build and so had to get a mortgage offer really quickly. Weronika made so much time for us immediately and was able to secure a decision in principle for us in a matter of days. She made sure to book us in for an appointment straight away and walked us through everything, and sent our mortgage application off within a week. She was extremely thorough and did so much research for us. It was difficult finding a bank that would lend to us given our circumstances so Weronika called every single bank she could think of to get us the best deal. She made sure to personally follow up with banks just to make sure there would be no hiccups further down the road. We had almost given up faith in the whole process but Weronika was so reassuring from the start. We received our mortgage offer less than two weeks after she applied for us and it was smooth sailing from there! Yvonne and Kieren even made sure to update us with the status of our application every three days. Weronika is an expert in what she does, she is so knowledgeable and goes into as much detail as possible to make sure all the boxes are checked! I am a first time buyer and I am quite lucky to get the support from first mortgage. At start, they assisted me in each and every process of the purchase. I would not have made it without the lovely ladies, Weronika and Yvonne. Even during the diffcult busy times that everyone were trying to get a house right now, they tried to reply to my emails as much as possible. At later stages, solicitors were delaying the case with serious mistakes and there was less communication from the broker Yvonne at the end. I ended up chasing the solicitor myself which was very stressful. It was hard to catch up with the solicitor by phone or email and I felt Yvonne tried but I was better doing it myself. She was good in emailing but the solicitor never responded. I felt she should have called the solicitor everyday for getting proper updates but I had to take care of it myself. The solicitor which the broker recommended werent good either. Overall, great service and highly recommended.

I can highly recommend First Mortgage. Working in IT I would usually prefer an online only system, however as a Contractor I knew I would need a broker to help me navigate the options. I chose First Mortgage based on reviews, and because they had an office in Manchester so I could meet them face to face. Having now completed on the mortgage I would recommend them for all situations, as the sums of money involved and the complexity mean having a professional acting on your behalf makes all the difference, taking all the stress out of the purchase. From my first meeting with Weronika where i had little idea of what I wanted or what I would be able to borrow, to the mortgage in principle, and eventually the application, the personal service made all the difference. No online service can replace that level of support and knowledge. Then once the application was in progress and the solicitors were appointed, Yvonne handled all contact and communications with the bank and kept in touch with my solicitor (despite me using my own), keeping me fully informed throughout. I can only thank her for the time spent on hold to the banks, and having professional knowledge that I simply wouldn’t have had in dealing with their queries. They also went to great lengths to help me identify the right insurance products, another labyrinthine topic for the uninitiated. All in all a fantastic experience. And the best part is that the bank pays the fee, so it's essentially free to use. I can see no reason to prefer going direct to the banks yourself.

A pleasure to deal with First Mortgage from start to finish!! Really friendly and great at dealing with all your questions and needs!! I was referred to FM by a friend who had used them previously for his own mortgage. All parts of the process were amazingly smooth from my initial consultation to completion. Initially I setup a meeting with Amanda who talked me through each step of the process in simple laymen terms finding a suitable mortgage that would help me get the maximum loan for affordability that my salary could provide. This was all done with relative ease in a single 1 hour meeting. I undertook this part of the process before I had found a property to purchase which gave me much needed indicators of my mortgage suitability. Amanda was great at answering all questions as a first time buyer and I definitely asked enough of them!! I was then transferred to Alison, once I had found my new home (a month later) who guided me through the rest of the application. This again was completed in 1 face-to-face meeting, with simple email correspondence on ID and documentation that would be required to be brought to the meeting to complete the mortgage application. Alice was great also at answering all my questions that related to the application and FM provide a mortgage pack that you can take home with you on the day that covers all FAQ amongst other useful information.This was all completed on the day with mortgage approval less than a week later!! So easy and simple. Finally, Yvonne took over the lead as my case worker and kept up correspondence with emails between myself, the estate agents and both solicitors. Not too many emails but just enough to keep things ticking over nice and smoothly without the feeling of being 'nagged' or being forgotten!! As first time buyers, we were totally clueless on how to buy a house, what was involved, how much it cost, and where to start. We called First Mortgage back in October 2019 to find out some more info and had a very good conversation which helped us put a saving plan into action. We put an offer on a house in June and got back in touch with Yvonne to formally apply for the mortgage and she put us in touch with Chris. We were reading lots of bad news about lenders pulling their products due to Covid-19 and we had a few sleepless nights meaning lots of late night emails to Chris, asking lots of very newbie questions. Chris was always so responsive, calling us when he needed to to reassure us and talk about the plan or responding to emails to make sure all of our documents were correct - I don't think he ever received a reply that didn't have at least 5 questions attached to it but he was always patient and took the time to respond. My sale was very straight forward so I probably did not experience the full effect of the help that was available. In hindsight, if I had known how easy this sale was going to be, I would have done it myself. However, I didn't and I am glad I did go through a broker for the first time I bought a house. My only quibble was perhaps the emphasis on insurance, which I didn't need due to the generous sickness package I get at work. This might have lead to a mortgage that was not as favourable as I could have got without the emphasis. However, I now know what to expect next time and I am very grateful to First Mortgage for their guidance during the process.

Myself and my partner were recommended First Mortgages from a family member after they had just purchased their first home. We contacted them over the phone and I was speaking to a gentleman called Chris, I informed him that I was recommended and explained that I honestly had no idea where to start with buying a house or what the steps are to take! He more than happily explained the steps that would need to be taken and booked in an appointment to see him at their office in Manchester city centre. We arrived at the offices and we were warmly greeted by a member of staff and asked if we would like a drink (of course we agreed to a coffee!) whilst we waited for Chris, not even a minute later he appeared and greeted us both with a welcoming smile. We sat down in his office and he went through the need to knows, mortgage in principles, what we were looking for and willing to pay. The first meeting lasted about an hour, this did include many of what we thought were ‘stupid’ questions, however, he re-assured us that it is fine to ask him anything and he will answer it to the best of his ability; this definitely put us at ease and if we were confused or stuck with anything we had someone to contact throughout the whole process. We were also provided with a booklet of easy to read information. We started to look at properties and surely enough decided to put in an offer for a new house. The offer was accepted and as soon as we could we contacted Chris and he arranged a new appointment to apply for a mortgage and go through the finer details (approx. 2 hour appointment). The team advised us as to what we will need to bring or need to have handy to be prepared for the meeting. Again we were greeted with a warm smile and a coffee! We sat down and chatted about things and also had a laugh whilst we did it, this definitely made it less daunting having someone so understanding going through these things with you. Once we were done we came out with a mortgage offer going through and all the other legal bits covered! The solicitors were soon in touch (again organised by Chris) to start getting the ball rolling. Going through the process we always had Chris with us every step of the way and also his colleague Yvonne, which helped so much with keeping us up to date. Yvonne along with Chris were always willing to help if we were unsure of or needed to double check anything with them. Yvonne always kept us up to date as to which stage we were at would chase the appropriate people if required. They also helped us push the move along as we wanted to be in before Christmas. It’s been 7 and a half weeks since our last appointment and we picked up the keys today. We would like to thank Chris and Yvonne for your time and help with everything, you have been amazing! Really good, and most importantly free advice. I needed a contractor-friendly mortgage and Chris was really helpful in finding me the best mortgage deal, working through all the options, potential pitfalls, etc. From what I can gather, it was all very good and professional and up to date advice, and Chris worked really hard to speed us through given our short deadlines in buying a new build property. Two bad things - 1. Sending documents was a nightmare - I had to spend hours formatting my documents to black and white, in the correct format, and making sure they were all on one email. They should have a better solution. And 2. you have to put up with being sold insurance that you might not need, but it's a free service so I guess that's just something to deal with.

I have had the absolute pleasure to work with Nadia and Karina of First Mortgage. We exchanged on our first home today and they have made the whole process less daunting and streamlined. We have had many issues along the way with few properties falling through last minute. They changed the application many times for us without hesitation. We were made to feel very valued and not just a number. Nadia was great as she swiftly kept on top of things and chased the bank without me having to chase. They pushed through a last minute change for us in order to be able to exchange at short notice. The application process was super easy and was not required to jump through hoops, atleast that's how we were made to feel. I could not reccomend them highly enough. What is great is they do not charge a single penny for their service as they take their fee from the bank. This means had we dropped out completely we would not have lost out. I came across two other brokers prior to meeting them and they were asking an upfront fee of between £250-£500. What's more is that I am contractor and could not borrow through traditional straight to bank. They used my day rate to sort it all out. Perfect service. My review is specifically towards the two ladies that helped me. I haven't needed to deal with anyone else at first mortgage. I reccomend working with Karina and Nadia.

After having an offer on a house accepted in late September I had a meeting on Monday 30th September to make a formal mortgage application. So I went with these guys because I'm cheap and didn't want to pay a broker fee in the knowledge that they get paid plenty from the lender upon completion. I was expecting average service and long wait times but let me tell you dear reader that these guys are the proverbial bomb. As a first time buyer, I thought it best to get advice and Sammie our broker was so incredibly helpful and patient that I genuinely couldn't want for anything more. She responded to emails promptly and even called me to give updates which is a sign of someone who cares (at least that what my mother told me). Once the application was submitted, Nadia took care of everything and gave us regular updates. Again, she was always contactable and responded quickly, and sent me possibly the best email I've ever received titled "Your Mortgage Offer". If you are ok completing an application over the phone as opposed to sitting down in front of someone, then these guys are definitely worth getting in touch with. First Mortgage Manchester Branch is a great place to go for help with getting your mortgage. You can see an adviser as well as going to the bank if you want to keep your options open - we found that we got a better deal through First Mortgage, even from the same bank! They were very helpful and professional and made us feel at ease and valued. The only reason First Mortgage Manchester has a 4 star from us and not a 5 star, is because at the end, once we had chosen and had our mortgage accepted, we felt that the hard sell on insurance in the final email was disrespectful. We spent a lot of time seriously thinking about what we needed in terms of insurance, and to get an email from our adviser saying that she is worried that we are not making the right decision (baring in mind that the company gets a high commission from the single insurance company they deal with) felt wrong to me. When you go with this company do remember that they will pull the hard sell for insurance - but having said that - trust in the fact that they will give you the best offer possible for your mortgage and will give you essential advice for no fee. Our adviser was always available for us, even on lunchtimes, and was clearly working very hard for us as we got emails through at late hours and even on weekends. They have to get their money from somewhere so just go in being strict with what you want, take their advice but don't let yourself be pushed in to anything you don't want to do. That email was a shame really because everything else in terms of the actual mortgage was expertly handled and I couldn't recommend them highly enough.
