An Insurance claim, particularly a marine insurance claim could never be a pleasure, but it has to be said that Pantaenius made my marine insurance claim as painless as was humanly possible Within minutes of the incident taking place, I was talking by phone with Antony, the Claims handler from Pantaenius, that I then dealt with all the way through to final settlement. He was professional, very knowledgeable, helpful and totally straightforward to deal with. I went with Pantaenius in the first instance, primarily due to their reputation for being straightforward, and I was pleased to feel that my decision was the right one I cannot recommend them highly enough

Effective communication and swift response times are both key when dealing with any insurance company. When it comes to marine insurance, both of these are sadly lacking in my experience. Pantaenius is the exception to this. Same day responses, clear communications, and excellent customer service - all from half a world away (for us). Highly recommended.

Last of the few companies that answer the phone. Couldnt care less about cost, Customer service or professional. These guys/girls answer the telephone. Thats a win for me. Out of 4 different companies i approched for new buisness insurence not a single company answered the phone. My existing company Towergate was great until a year ago when i spent a total of 2.5hrs trying to change my policy to a new craft. Upon renewal it was just as bad. Quick tip before placing your policy try ringing them first. Gauntee when your stressed after your pride and joy suffers damage, an automated telephone sytem is the last thing you need. On a side note there pricing is competertive.

What is the very worst thing that can happen to your boat? Well, it happened to us! Our much loved Nauticat 33, for 17 years, sank peacefully at her Marina berth one Sunday morning. A contractor, who had removed the water trap silencer for repair had jammed the exhaust pipe above the water-line, but a week later it came free, fell into the bilges and the rest was history. By coincidence, the Pantaenius Claims Manager was in the vicinity and we met at the boat 90 minutes later. Where do you start? I had no idea, but Pantaenius did. Within 48 hours, she had been recovered by crane/barge and put ashore at a local yard. There, she was met by a team who pressure cleaned, got rid of diesel contamination and cleaned her out, working until midnight. Sails were sent for laundering, a survey carried out and estimates for repairs obtained. In the event, Pantaenius declared her a "Total Constructive Loss". They picked up all the bills and within 3 weeks, the total of the "Agreed Value", with no deductions was in my bank account. Superb, efficient and friendly service. How could any company do better? I must say, that when I chose Pantaenius, all those years ago, although they were the most expensive, the "exclusion" paragraphs were very few, unlike all the other companies, where they ran into pages. It turned out to be a wise investment. I'm not sure of their present policy, but with our previous boat, they did not insist on an "out of water" survey, or a change of standing rigging after 10 years. WELL DONE PANTAENIUS !

Great. We had our boat insured with an efficient good value and pleasant to deal with UK company. They told us that when our policy was due for renewal they would no longer cover us because of Brexit. Our boat being not in UK waters and not UK registered. After some work we went for Pantaenius who turned out to be cheaper, easier to deal with and offer a fair contract. Given their reputation for fair dealing and paying out quick and fair settlements of claims we expected them to charge "Rolls Royce" premiums. They dont. *****

Although I never made a claim, the people I talked to in the Pantaenius team were professional and responsive to my personal needs. In 2014 Pantaenius was the only UK boat insurance who gave me full boat cover insurance sailing single handed from Scotland to the Canary Islands, other UK insurance companies required minimum a crew of 3. However to carry on single handed to the Caribbean’s only third party was available until notification to Pantaenius of my arrival on te Caribbean where full cover will resume. The same rules applied for my return to Scotland in 2018.

Very nice people to deal with and, after several years with Pantaenius, we sold our boat and very quickly were given a pro-rate refund of premium paid directly to our bank. Never experienced putting a claim through them but I suspect they'd deal fairly and well with a claim.

Insured for 17+ years.. flexible and open to changes in cruising grounds as we moved around from the UK, into the Med and back via the Azores, without special conditions or additional premiums. When it came to it, a claim relating to an incident that had occurred just over a year before the resulting problem was recognised, was met without undue question.
