David Wood helped us secure our first mortgage which was a buy-to-let, and posed several issues, not least that its unusual for your first house purchase to be a buy-to-let. Further obstacles were the tight financial regulations since the 2008 banking crash, and my age being 43 (which means I’m high risk as a 25 year mortgage takes me to retirement age!). And it gets tougher yet, we are both self employed in a start up so our net profit is not quite the prime ministers salary! Nevertheless, David took on the challenge, explained all the pros and cons, what we would need to present and established how much we could realistically lend, with probable interest rates. He search far and wide to find a lender for us, and came back with 3 hits. The service from Village FS was great, the entire process seemed daunting at first, and we’ve put it off several times because we thought we wouldn’t ‘qualify’ or that our deposit wasn’t enough. David sets the record straight and manages your expectations from your very first consultation meeting. And then it’s an ‘undaunting’ process thereon out.
