Great service and very responsive. I worked with Cristian and Daniel who liaised with both estate agent and solicitors to get everything over the line. It turned out getting the best buy to let mortgage was the easy bit! 6 months later we finally completed but not with out many twists and turns and I was so pleased to have Cristian and Daniel taking care of all the communication between the mortgage company and other 3rd parties. You could save a few quid and do it your self but my advice would be to leave it to the experts and save your sanity!

In October 2020 my wife and I purchased a property in Plymouth. This required two mortgages, a remortgage on our buy to let property and a top up mortgage on the new property. They know very well what solution is required for what problem. What am I looking for in purchasing something – a mortgage in this case? Firstly I am looking for personal service. I want to believe that my business is important to the company I am dealing with and correspondingly that the company aims to produce satisfaction for me as a person. I do _not_ wish to feel that I am dealing with a large company that has many customers to provide it with business – that it is of little concern if my purchase does not work out. Secondly I wish to understand the transactions I am involved with – I want to have clarity and get an explanation of what is happening if uncertainty creeps in. On both these counts John Charcol was quite excellent. My recent mortgaging was particularly complicated because the process coincided with lockdown and the times when companies and institutions were arranging for staff to work from home. The staff, for their part, were struggling to deal with transitions in working, the inevitable substantial backlogs and the many additional problems relating to communication. This delayed the processing of my mortgage over quite a period. Naturally I wondered whether this or that intervention might speed things up. John Charcol’s response (actually the responses of Sophie Waugh and Cristian Lupu): Let’s find out if that would work. On no occasion was a response to an enquiry delayed; on no occasion did I feel in any way that my suggestion was unhelpful and wasting time. This approach – We’ll find out - is in marked contrast to my general experience of the delays and uncertainties in dealing with larger companies. John Charcol provide an attentive, friendly and highly efficient service. When you have dealt with John Charcol you realise why their average satisfaction rating is (to a very close approximation) 5.
