Over the past 5 years we have used Borthwick Decorators for all our interior and exterior decorating work. We appointed Borthwick Decorators to fully paint the communal hallways of our flatted development (walls, ceilings, skirting boards, window frames, door frames, balustrades and bannisters) and we couldn’t be more satisfied and happy with the end result. Communication with David was always excellent throughout the process, from beginning to completion (painting specification, quote, and starting date) and David was always was very approachable and quick to respond with his expert knowledge to any questions we had. Eddie and his team of painters who painted the communal hallways, were fantastic: very professional, skilled, friendly, hard-working and helpful and nothing was ever an issue. They arrived punctually everyday and tidied up afterwards, and ensured that everything was painted to our satisfaction, and all in all, it was a pleasant experience. Borthwick were fantastically responsive, due to my time constraints with pandemic travel - being in the UK only for a couple of months - they turned around a quote for water damage repair in two rooms, room painting and bay window painting in a short time frame. We have had problems in the past with finding good quality painters and decorators and a previous job left a bad taste in the mouth. But I would have no hesitation in recommending David and his team. The work rate of the company is exceptional which is something I haven't experienced it before with many contractors, who often 'clock off' quite early in the day. After 14 months of a roof leak and then the associated residual damage..we had Borthwick decorators in to plaster the ceiling and repaint the sitting room. I have had a lot of painters and decorators but never as professional as this. I contacted David on the off chance his team could spray paint the newly plastered walls and ceilings of our house. He was very responsive and professional and it was very easy to communicate what we wanted and receive a very reasonable price for what was a short notice job. I contacted David as we were looking to get the exterior of our house painted. He responded very quickly and came out the same day to meet us and provide a quote. Communication at all times was excellent, any queries I had were answered immediately. The crew he had working on our house were very professional and hard working. All work was completed on time and to a very high standard, our old Victorian house now looks brand new and have already had comments on how amazing it looks. Complete house - exterior painting. David Borthwick carried out the quote and sent it to me the same evening. He was honest and straightforward about what was involved, patiently answered all my questions and told me how long the job would take (4 days). Stuart and the team (Four in total) arrived about 30 minutes early each day and just got on with the job. They drank their coffee whilst working and took a really short lunch break. They were friendly, efficient, helpful and RESPECTFUL to us, our neighbours and the property. No loud radio, no shouting and no smoking. (Throughout this period it was freezing - these guys just got on with it) Throughout the job Stuart (all of the team actually) kept in touch to make sure they were doing what we wanted and that we were happy with quality and finish.They worked late on a couple of occasions to keep the job bang on schedule. They used loads of drop-sheets and masked the windows and doors so the driveway and the garden didn't get painted along with the house. They left the place immaculate. In short,David was great to deal with, the paintwork is great and the guys were a pleasure to have around. I wish all contractors were like this.

We have just had some excellent decorating done by Borthwick Decorators (end of June 2021) We have an open plan house in Auchterarder, and they must have done the equivalent of 2,000 sq ft of ceiling and 500+ sq ft of walls. It took the team 4.5 days working hard from 0800 to 1800 and we couldn’t fault them. Top team of Robert (organiser and leader), Eddie (helpful perfectionist) and Katie (always smiling hard worker) backed up on occasion by Steve and Nick. This is not the easiest of houses to do. The hall, living room and kitchen are open plan, and the hall is two storeys to the eaves. Architect’s dream and maintenance nightmare. They coped admirably with scaffolding and ladders, and, most importantly, such clean workers. Dust sheets everywhere and brush and vacuum always in evidence. We are more than happy to recommend them. Not the cheapest, perhaps, but value for money for the standard of workmanship and the personal management by David Borthwick. We will use them again if and when we do more.

As a top rated tradesman myself I understand the importance of quality of service & positive feedback. That said, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending David, even though I never actually spoke to or met him! Everything was done via email on as I’m in Southampton and the job was near Edinburgh at my parents home. Our job was to repaint my elderly mothers house from top to bottom. Working to a budget and tight timeframe. My sister was on hand to liaise with David and she had nothing but great things to say of every aspect of the completed job. Having used Borthwick Decorators for a number of Jobs in both Commercial and my Private residences over the last 10 years I can say that their service is second to none. Two projects that come to my mind are: Going back to 2009, when they completed a full refurbishment of a buy to let flat I had in Grangemouth, and then sold on, the finish was excellent, and the project management ran ahead of time. I also used Borthwick Decorators to do the entire repaint (Internal and external) of a shop I owed in Stirling, and this was again a very top level finish and a very reasonable price considering all the work involved in the job, and added things which came along the process. I can say that the finish is extremely satisfying, and the professionalism and time management are also important things to me and all jobs were finished on time or ahead of. ^ Professional ^ Fairly priced ^ Good time management ^ Helpful on troubleshooting for issues that arose within the properties at times.
