HIGHEST QUALITY FINISH, FAIRLY PRICED, NICE GUY WHO CLEARLY TAKES REAL PRIDE IN HIS WORK. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! I have used dean multiple times he came highly recommended and did not disappoint. He fully designed and finished a commercial to residential block I was developing. His staff were always on site and highly skilled, dean was able to solve issues and advise other trades on site. Helped trades stick to architects drawings weren’t which sometimes weren’t clear. I most recently had dean decorate my own house and the finish is unbelievable it’s been brung back to life with a bang. He’s a really personable guy. I would recommend him to anyone. Without a doubt the best contractor I’ve used, I wouldn’t use anyone else. Top finish, fair price, with everything always clear and schedules stuck to like clockwork. Can’t praise him enough credit to His trade, clearly takes extreme pride in his work big or small.

Outstanding from start to finish. I called Dean and he came around to quote within a couple hours. A few days later as I'd requested, his team started the job, moved things around and laid down dust sheets (couldn't tell they'd been there). The work itself was exceptional and I can sell the house in an almost "like new" condition. There was a small part of the wall which didn't look quite right. I called Dean and at 8am the next morning they were round and fixed it no problem at all. They touched parts of the house up without me even asking, and they re-wallpapered parts of the room my kids had destroyed! Best painter and decorator I've ever used, highly recommend. THANK YOU!

Sam was an amazing tradesman and was a perfectionist. A door to the adjoining box room was blocked and covered many years ago and Sam was able to sand and hung extra lining paper to complete an excellent finish. I recently moved into my apartment and required some wallpaper to be hung up for a feature wall and also painting needing done. I found dean via Google and I was in no way disappointed with his service. It's rare to find tradesman that arrive on time, dean showed up 10 minutes early, his work was efficient, clean, precise and very quick. I was certainly not disappointed with the results. Dean and his team redid the painting in my flat and sanded and treated the wooden floors throughout. He was very responsive and able to start work immediately, completing the job in the timeframe needed for us to move in. He was adaptable when there were a few unwelcome suprises along the way - at minimal additional cost. His team were friendly and were keen to address concerns when pointed out. There were a few imperfections we noticed after living in the space for a while hence 4 stars not 5 but on the whole we are happy with the results. The floor especially looks amazing.

We asked Dean and his team to paint and re-varnish the woodwork in three rooms in our flat, and they turned up on time every day, despite this being the week Edinburgh was hit by the 'Beast from the East', and just about all other businesses were closed due to the snow. They did a terrific job, even repainting one room after we discovered the colour we'd chosen originally was a not the right fit. All of this done with no fuss, great attention to detail and frequent communication to ensure we were advised of costs and progress throughout. I'd have no hesitation in recommending Dean to anyone.

Dean McCathie Painters have just recently completed painting and decorating a 7000sq ft property for myself and I can not recommend them highly enough. The building (a full townhouse on Great King Street) was in a horrendous state when I initially brought this company in to price for the work; I ended up going out to 5 companies for costs, 2 of which never bothered to return a quote (or answer to my follow up emails), which left 2 others, as well as Dean McCathie. The cost was more expensive than one of the remaining companies and slightly below the other cost I obtained, however, I felt more comfortable with the comprehensive quote I got from this company. It is Dean himself who does all of the surveying and costing and immediately I knew I was talking to someone who had an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of painting and decorating; Dean immediately told me which paints could be applied to certain walls and advised me on which walls would require stripping back and further preparation prior to painting. He also gave me a demonstration of how the cornices would be prepared and painted, using a spray gun to give a more uniform, consistent finish. I gave Dean the go ahead based on a 10 week programme, which went over by a mere 3 days, mainly due to my plasterer holding Deans team up I might add! The finish is absolutely exceptional, so much so that once I marketed the property, most viewers asked who did the decoration, rather than where the kitchen was from or what type of flooring had been laid! This is clearly testament to Dean and his teams fantastic finish. I noticed on his business card that he had a quote “passionate about excellence” and hoped this would be the reality - I can confirm that it very much is. Outstanding service from start to finish (pun intended!). DO NOT go past this company if you require a painter and decorator in Edinburgh - you won’t be disappointed.
