Sam and Jamie worked with us to redesign the ground floor of our house. They quickly understood our style and provided brilliant suggestions and advice. This advice ranged from the realisation of big stylistic ideas right through to far more functional ideas and insight - many of the smaller details have made a real difference to our experience of living here. With finely tuned artistic vision, Sam and Jamie provided nuanced designs that reflected our wishes perfectly. They gave us the confidence to go with a bold colour-palette and worked closely with us to understand how each space would be used in order to optimise comfort and functionality whilst retaining the desired style. Sam and Jamie are really passionate about design and genuinely seemed as excited about the designs and the progress of the project as we did! It was lovely to feel that they were invested in the outcomes - they skilfully worked within our budget and were a constant source of completely workable solutions. Their extensive experience in design and detailed knowledge of suppliers meant that we felt supported in every aspect of the project.

We would wholeheartedly recommend Sam to anyone! We wanted a ground floor kitchen extension - a big project for us - and were concerned about getting the result we wanted, so needed an experienced design and project manager. Sam helped us to design and choose everything - the kitchen units, paint colours, the flooring, furniture and designed the bespoke cupboards. Sam was only interested in getting the best options for us. When we had chosen something he still researched better options based on his previous experience. For example, he found a better quality and looking flooring option, also when we decided at short notice to have a downdraft extractor he spent time researching and sourcing the quietist and cheapest option. Even after we had paid his final bill he still chased some outstanding items for us without being asked. We didn’t end up with the result we originally intended, we ended up with something much better thanks to Sam. We are very happy with it!

Sam Patience advised us and led the renovation and redecoration of our Victorian house in north London. His advice and guidance were invaluable from the beginning to the end of the process and as a result of his aesthetic and technical knowledge we never needed to use an architect for the work. Sam is a great listener and very empathetic. He spent time with us getting to understand and interpret our wishes and translating our aspirations into reality. He steered us through what was possible, sharing his technical knowledge and knowhow and suggesting innovations we would otherwise not have thought of. We were seeking modern facilities and a more streamlined look but in a way consistent with and sympathetic to the period character of the house.Sam produced three dimensional graphics as we explored possibilities, colours and styles both in structure and in decor for a new kitchen, bathroom and shower room, dining room and cupboards. He knows the best local suppliers and accompanied us to showrooms. Sam also introduced the builders and regularly checked work progress to ensure the details were right, providing us with regular updates on FaceTime, as we had moved out during some of the works. He advised on lighting and flooring, including underfloor heating systems, to ensure we achieved the domestic environment we were seeking. He was generous with his time and his creativity and we recommend him to everyone who wants to work on a partnership basis with a skilled and sympathetic designer who can bring good quality builders to a project and supervise them as work progresses.

I found Sam and the Patience Designs team through a personal recommendation, having liked some of his other work. I gave Sam the difficult task of coming up with ideas for composition and layout, all in a tight timeframe due to our build already progressing. Having
completed the development, I can say Sam has exceeded my expectations and I would unreservedly recommend him. My only regret is that I didn't ask for his help earlier in the build.
Sam changed my perception of what a designer brings. His approach was holistic, from thinking about how to use the space and suggesting design features through to textures and colours to bring it to life. Sam never pushed too hard in one direction and provided illustrations and source material to guide my thinking. He always worked within my budget and actually found ways to achieve a result beyond my expectations for less money.
Overall, I am delighted with their work and would absolutely use them again.
Note, I am in no way affiliated with Patience Designs. Just a happy customer!

Sam has helped me in renovation of 3 flats,I have gone back to him because he listens to my ideas and incorporates them into his designs, so that I really felt like the designs were a collaboration. He is very organised and structured, so I’m always clear what he needs from me and what to expect next. And of course he designs beautiful spaces well within budget, with a lot of creativity and knowledge. Procurement service that he offers is very useful which means one less thing for me to worry about and he passes all the discounts.
I recommend him with no hesitation as he is reliable and very patient as well as being professional.

Sam and Jamie excelled on this project. Both my wife and I work and we have three children. In short, nothing happens in our household without help, and Sam and Jamie provided their support in spades (even going above and beyond in helping with minor questions outside their direct scope). They were highly professional and adept at working within the constraints of COVID limitations. Despite this they delivery an exceptional outcome, in a short time period.
The project was the decoration of a plain new build (think white walls beige carpet), 4 bedroom mid-terrace house. Our house is now light; airy; thoughtfully configured; has multiple living zones and is simply a delight to be in… critical for our lock-down lifestyle. We were kept closely updated and our input sought in defined chunks throughout the design process so it was not intrusive or onerous. Jamie used Virtual Reality software to model our house layout and used this to show how the design options would look. This accelerated the process and provided us with a much higher degree of confidence that we were making the right decisions. This was a key differentiator for us.
In addition, we focus very heavily on sustainability in our work and lives. Sam and Jamie were very open to re-using what we had in the house, along with sourcing second hand items or items with sustainably sourced materials (e.g. working with low VOC paint). This added a further element of challenge; however they took this on and worked it into the designs without compromising the end result.
Their level of energy and engagement was outstanding; they have high attention to detail and know how to ensure a high quality outcome that far exceeded our expectations. They even left an impression on our kids; they keep asking when Sam and Jamie are coming back! The outcome is summarized by the word that my wife and I uttered when we walked into the house after the project was completed: Wow.
