Reviews of Empire Exchange
S. R.
Just heard 5 mins ago that Ian died on 23rd December. Ian taught guitar here and knew music like the back of his hand. Above all I will remember him for the great and kind guy and gentle giant that he was. I'm really sorry.
F. O. O.
A wonderful gem of a place. I could have spent hours wandering around the store and chatting with the brilliant owner (who has some fantastic stories to tell).
Alas, we had falafel to buy (from the store next door) and a train to catch at Manchester Piccadily so we picked up a glass slipper, a vinyl album (Spotlight on Della Reese, Gloria Lynne and Al Hibbler) and a 7" single (Frank Sinatra's 'The Lady Is A Tramp".
Next time i visit I'm staying longer - the place deserves the time!

It's a beautiful and vintage shop where you can literally find everything but today I went mostly for books where most of them are old or before the 2000s anyway but you can find more contemporary novels here and there. The till is an old one with that distinctive click everytime it's opened or closed. Very good experience today
C. H.
Quirky, vintage and cool
Ian was a legend of the place, he'll be missed

I've gone on about this place to mu husband for years and I was happy to revisit after last being here ten years ago. It hasn't changed! A great place to visit while in Manchester. Its like all the best bits of car boot sales in one place. Prices are fair. I saw a massive old sign in there advertising martial arts classes. I was surprised to see Karl Tamswell written on there, who was my old BJJ instructor. I searched the net for his name and sadly learnt that he passed away early this year.
J. D.
Awesome records for reasonable prices, rock, blues and much more :D!
J.
Went in here not sure what to expect. I found an absolute treasure trove of graphic novels and comics that I'd not seen for years. All sorts of great and cool stuff. Owner was very helpful.

Sickest shop ever. Been in here twice and both times i want to stay forever. Absolute gem of a place.

You have to go just to see, even if you don't buy anything. The range of this collection is crazy and there is certainly things in there that will take you back to your childhood.
It's also a great place to pick up vinyls for really decent prices (used only).
D. C.
Great for old comics, books and records as well as other bits n bobs of bric-a-brac. Bit of blue for the dads at the back if it's titillation ye seek. The staff have always been very polite and friendly whenever I shop there and are open to the occasional haggle. Definitely worth a visit.
M. R.
Great atmosphere, lovely people and rare comics for good prices! Looking forward to coming back xxx
C. J.

My favorite vintage shop in Manchester. They don't really have clothes, but there's absolutely loads of antiques and bric-a-brac, plus a fantastic selection of books, records, magazines, and even some occasional taxidermy. Great place for collectors of all sorts. Prices are mid-range but they will sometimes haggle if you're buying enough stuff.
L. H.
Take a trip down memory lane no matter what your age is you will come out with a smile and you will definitely be going back
D. P.
Amazing collection of all things music, vinyl, and comic book! Staff is helpful when you have questions but otherwise are happy to let you alone to let you browse.
P. P.
This place is an Aladdin's cave of memorabilia, magazines, books, vinyl and many other things. You never know what you might find in there and to me that is a great thing.
C. T.
I love it, I try and go in on my lunch, the staff are fab, really kind and helpful (I spend most my time talking to them). I'm always looking for records for my sister, definitely the best place to go. I would say's it's one of my favourite places in town.

A store I pop into every week or so, you never know exactly what you'll find, if you're a collector of anything it's definitely worth a look in, especially for coins, vinyls, comics, or other particular items, and if they don't have anything the staff are approachable and useful, usually offering advice or information
C.
