A. M.Large collection of watches of many different brands and good location in central Reading. The staff seems approachable.
The issue is that most prices are not displayed and one needs to ask each time. Comparatively, other stores in Reading display all prices including when they have 4 or 5 digits. As a shopper, I feel frustrated. I don't want to engage an employee and ask him to give me prices for 40 different watches then walkaway if I am not sure to buy that day.
H. W.This is a 'thumbs up' to WatchShop in Reading. I have been after a Louis Erard watch for a while now.
I had one condition - I had to see the watch before buying.
I did try this with other stores, and got nowhere. Goldsmiths were particularly inept.
I rang up WatchShop and told them that there were 6 watches that I liked, and that I would like to come into the store to try them and choose one.
This was no problem, just had to let them know the product codes and they would order them in free of charge at the end of the next day.
When I went to the shop, the watches were ready, and I got to select the nicest one (not the one I expected).
It was a chilled, pleasant experience and I got to talk watches for a while.
Overall, would definitely recommend.

R.It's a shame that this shop is the only one outlet other than on-line, we travelled an all round journey of 210 miles just for a couple of watches but well worth every mile, the two male assistants were first class and knew how to treat a customer we would love to see another outlet in Birmingham bull ring.......l fully recommend "The watch shop" for affordable watches.
G.Excellent service. I ordered a watch from their website but opted to take it into their shop in Reading to have it adjusted. Took it in yesterday and the young lady behind the counter couldn't have been more helpful. She removed a couple of links re-assembled the watch but I decided it was still to big, she then decided it was best to do it a link at a time so that we could be sure I got the best fit, which she did, even though this must have been very tedious for her it was all done with a smile and nothing was too much trouble.
Overall my experience with Watch shop, both online and in store has been a really positive and pleasant one, I cant recommend them enough!
Having seen the negative reviews on here I really can't equate them to the watch shop I have dealt with, perhaps the customer isn't always right?
C. R.My in-store experience was very good. I haven't bought a watch from the shop but was able to browse and try on a Bulova and a J&J Windmill. I've moved away from Reading now but a watch, A Rotary Les Originales Swiss Quartz, as a gift from their website and it was delivered on time at a great price. Given the reviews here though I would be nervous about buying anything over £500. Would love to here back from anybody with better experiences.
N. B.Slightly up and down customer service. But a guy called Sam who works in the reading store, saved the day. He knew what he was talking about. And I managed to get the watch I wanted. Shop has a good range of watches to choose from in the price range of up to £50-£1800

W.excellent service. walked in saturday didnt have the exact watch i wanted, they got it delivered to the branch monday pm, i went in tuesday am and i bought it. excellent customer service from the young girl that helped me with the watch functions and getting the fitting right. so i bought the watch at "internet" prices but got to try it/see it before i committed. well done watchshop (y)
B. C.A good selection of cheaper to mid-range watches here. One of the few Ball Watch stockists in the country. They don't stock Ball for BMW, though.
If your looking for higher-end watches, though, you won't find the likes of Tag Heuer and Rolex here.

S. L.A great web site, but not backed up by good customer service, I'm afraid. Typical of a big, faceless on-line organisation - slow, very impersonal and unhelpful. They give the impression that they are just 'ticking boxes', rather than actually trying to help. If you point that out to them, they give you an address you can write to if you want to complain. Great ! Then they can just 'tick that box' and move on to the next punter. They just want your money. Full stop.
j. m.Avoid like the plague.Staff haven't a clue about the product they sold.Bought a Bering Watch that had a faulty clasp.Item returned.They kept it for a month on the pretext of sending it back to Denmark for repair.They told me Bering did not have a repair centre in the UK.Item returned to me and was just the same i.e. faulty clasp. Found a Bering dealer in Ringwood, Hants. Couldn't have been more helpful he agreed clasp was faulty.Bering have a repair centre in Hertfordshire and he sent off for a new clasp.Problem solved done under guarantee & I didn't even buy the watch from him!.I was so impressed I purchased a Bering for my wife & wish I had known about this shop before having dealings with Watchshop. Once they have got your money they don't want to know.
