Reviews of Poplar Nurseries

Lovely garden centre that offers everything you could possibly need. Nice newly added food shop which offers tasty cakes and most cooking treats you could ask for, although it doesn’t offer a butchers counter. The Garden Centre itself has a huge range and a specialist Weber section currently offering free five minute courses to get you going if you’re new to outdoor cooking. Mini railway for the children and all the plants and gardening tools you could as for. Well worth a visit. Plenty of parking available too.

An ever expanding enterprise with gift shop, food hall, gift shop and even a kitchen design centre alongside the garden centre. Lovely range of gifts and garden related items. There is a plethora of commanding signs which feels a little bit like you’re in school but the café offers a simple range of breakfast and lunch items with some daily specials but all plated up beautifully with salads and sides.

Wow. Visited today and it looks like it's had a major tidy up. Everything is neat and tidy and the displays are so well put together, it looked fabulous.
The cafe as always very good. It was a pleasure to visit and I come here a lot but today was just so impressed with how everything was presented. Makes me want to go back and visit. Lovely garden centre.

Vast variety of all you could want from a garden center. I went as I was setting up a small pond. Worth going as all you need is here.

Came here for breakfast and we were not disappointed. 2 full English and 1 vegan. Our food arrived really quickly and was very well cooked and remaind hot until we had finished. Very generous portions sizes too. The garden center was well stocked and as always had some unusual things. A visit to the food shop resulted in a bag of goodies including some cake to have later. Delicious.

An absolute treat for the plant lovers. Do give a quick visit to the kitchen section too, the collections there are really beautiful.

We used to visit this garden centre a lot when my daughter was just a toddler - the main attraction for children is the little train that offers rides (£2 a person). There is also a little playground with a slide and swings right next to the little railway. This time we visited during half term for lunch in the café which offers plenty of tables. We ordered kids lunch, a cappuccino and a vegan chocolate cake (so delicious). The choice of cakes is amazing, the food is good if overpriced (I was eyeing the mixed grain salad with avocado on the menu but found £9.99 a bit steep so didn't order). There are clear instructions how to order food. There are lovely things in the shop to browse and there is a food hall with local fresh produce with a separate entrance. We love the Christmas shop once it's up, it's like winter wonderland and definitely worth a visit, especially with little ones.

Haven't been to Poplar nurseries for some time but was so impressed by the improvement in the restaurant, helpful and friendly staff, great food, nothing was too much bother. The Deli shop was amazing, such a fantastic selection of goods, cant wait to try our purchases. Will definitely be a regular place to go to.

Nice , well equipped nursery HOWEVER , so very pricey selling many items at R.R.P - hardly anyone ever does this ?. Most items can be found elsewhere very much cheaper if you take the time to look. Shame ...
In response to the reply -
We generally look at solar lights. The solar lights are the same/similar type that are sold in Home Bargains. They are quite a few pounds cheaper. We also purchased a standard Fuchsia from said shop for £4.99. The fuchsia was in excellent condition and well watered. The only thing is that it did not have is a label stating the variety name. The equivalent standard fuchsia at Poplar was £24.99. Both were as pretty as each other - only difference is the price. Hubby is a qualified gardener, he could not fault the Home Bargains fuchsia.
This is just a couple of examples. I am aware you are a family firm, and it is hard to keep competitive, however, many out of town nurseries are falling into the trap of pushing prices too high so that business begins to suffer. Plants bring colour into peoples life and lift the mood , they are very uplifting particularly when nurseries take extreme care to make displays wonderful. But, custom will ebb away over time as household budgets become very, very stretched. This is why I chose the £4.99 fuchsia over the £24.99 one .....
