Reviews of Russells Garden Centre

What a gem of an independent garden centre with award winning cafe with tasty treats and friendly staff. A miniature railway around a landscaped area is a delight for kids. It also has a secret garden from an old quarry and a spooky overgrown maze and wildflower meadow along the Riverside which is abundant with wildlife. Check times for when railway runs as run by volunteers and not always open. The garden centre is well stocked and multi other small businesses are run from the site including a bonsai shop. Set in bagington village steeped in history with a Roman fort and bagots castle ruins near by. A lovely and well recommended place to visit

Little oasis 😊 beautiful gardens to relax in and enjoy the peace and quiet. Wonder little cafe offering a variety of delicious cakes. Well worth a visit to the garden centre as there are some really unusual plants. There is also a little Garden which is planted up with many of the plants on sale. I find this very useful to gauge whether they would be suitable for my own garden. Russell's is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

the food and coffee at tha cafe was great, staff were friendly and there was table service!, I will be going back with the whole family very soon as they all thought it was faultless too....
Walking around the gardens was good too...there is a painted stone hunt and hide aswel which kept the little one busy and happy...the waterfall, flowers, ponds, walks, overgrown creepy maze and shop are all well worth a visit too....looking forward to going back!!

A really good nursery garden centre. Excellent cafe with friendly staff serving scrumptious food and drinks and very helpful and knowledgeable staff in the garden centre. I needed to lop a number of high branches and needed advice on the best tools to do the job. The guy who served me really knew his stuff and was very helpful. I will definitely be visiting this place again, its way, way better than your average garden centres.

Rambling and a little disorganised but lots to see and do. Railway and quarry gardens are great.

I simply adore this place. A garden centre with a difference. Serene nature walks, wonderful café with fresh cakes, even the odd antique books...bought a box of all charles dickens' works dating back to the 1800s!!!

Went the to tea room here. It was very nice, clean with friendly service. A good selection of sandwiches to choose from.

Great garden centre with a massive variety of plants. It's not one of the chain types that devote more space to garden furniture and fountains instead having loads of space to stroll around and choose your plants. Walkways are gravel so not the easiest with a pushchair but can be navigated ok if you want to bring a nipper with you.

A lovely couple have taken over the Potting Shed Café. The coffee is excellent (including the decaffeinated version). We will return!

A great selection of young plants for sale. Must say cheaper than most garden centres. Tomato and veg plants a big selection.

This is a nursery with a real community atmosphere. It has a good selection of products, very pleasant staff and an added bonus is that on this site is a beautiful quarry garden too. That's apart from their fundraising for various causes such a local railway run by volunteers.

Nice little garden centre, cafe in the middle with proper ice cream and the grounds are lovely for a walk around. There is a Quarry garden by the car park as well with lots of painted rocks to find and rehide.

Looks like it would be a nice place for a family day out. Sadly our visit to this garden centre with all its different small company's on site was just a stock up of veg and herb plants which there was a nice selection of.. even with the restrictions the staff where very friendly and approachable..

This is really a review of the "secret garden" at the top of the car park. There was a medieval sandstone quarry here, and it has been planted with rhododendrons, azaleas, hostas, as well as some magnificent deciduous trees - oaks and others. There is an old maze, and they have started a wildlife garden by the river.
There's no charge - just a request for charitable donations.
There are two other nurseries here, so great choice on one site.

In this present climate of Covid 19, there are very few places where one can go. This centre with various shops like Chaps, David Cheshire Bonsai and Stream train setup are great place to walk to and get supplies for my various pursuits. All people serving are first rate.

I've been a few times now and it has a good selection of plants and sundries. They were very helpful recently with some box hedge and seemed good value too. Can recommend to others

I am a novice 50 something gardener. The team are amazingly helpful and knowledgeable. All plants are of excellent quality. I often go in for help and advice on what to plant where. I love coming here, an for someone who hated gardening, it's a miracle. My favourite place to be inspired
