Reviews of Dobbies Garden Centre Derby
J. W.
Lots of parking.
Dogs allowed inside.
Cotton Traders inside,
Pet area, lots of plants, small furniture area, and a home furnishings section. The plant section is actually quite good.
Restaurant inside, pets not allowed in the restaurant. Outside seating too.
Children's play area in restaurant.
The restaurant is table service, which is unusual for a garden centre. We were told to take a table, then no menus arrived, we had to guess what we wanted !!
They do afternoon tea which you can book a table online for.
Maybe check the menu online before arriving...
Nice cake selection though.
H. H.
A really enjoyable afternoon..great garden centre, a really good variety of products available. Cafe was large, clean and well designed and furnished....however I cannot in good faith advise anybody to order a pot of tea there..the teapots and teacups were totally disgusting...stained dark brown inside and on the ouside of the pots in places...old tea stains were visible down the sides of the cups...could not fault the scones..cream..jam..excellent!

Didn't use the garden centre but went to the aquatic section and bought a couple of gold fish. Named Bubbles (black one) and Squeak (gold one). Friendly staff. Lots of different fish for sale both cold water and tropical. Plus fresh water plants. I got my previous fish from there years ago when I had a tropical tank.
L. H.
Now has a small Sainsburys in place. So good to pick up a few needed things. Lovely garden centre. Great range of plants. Pet supplies. Even treats for a sweet tooth. Even a few things for the kids.

First time visiting the cafe at Dobbies.
Lots of cake options which was lovely and they all stated if they were vegetarian or not which is fantastic.
The best part for us that at the till they asked if we had any allergies that they needed to know about even though we were only ordering cake and drinks which we thought was fantastic as even large chain restaurants do not ask this anymore so bravo to the staff and Dobbies.
The reason why it is only a 4 star is because we picked up some forks and they were all dirty, with food stuck in the proges or on the handle.
There were lots of food options which we didn't try but it was great to see how much was on offer.
There is a little soft play area there which looked really cool so I will definitely go back with my Niece.
Would definitely go again. Apart from the forks it was clean and the staff were lovely. Toilets were clean as well with plenty of toilet roll.
C. S.
Large car parking, very well kept plants and good variety, displayed in imaginative way. Large centre, with very good household and bakingware section, also clothing and quality frozen meals as well as other food items. They also have a large cafe/seating area, children's softplay, and children's reading corner available with books. Clean toilets. An enjoyable experience all round. Would definitely recommend.
L. C.
A 45 minute wait to receive sandwich/toasties is just unacceptable, with a further prompt and additional 5 minute wait for our drinks.
Will not be returning to the cafe.
The reason this has 3 stars and not lower is because of the lovely first aider who was wonderful with my little girl when she injured herself. She deserves 5* on her own but unfortunately cafe and service is really quite poor.
C. C.
Lovely hanging baskets , this one has loads of bedding plants cost £29.99 but they have all sizes. The only thing is that on some items had no price tag on them or was so small that it was hard to see. It would be nice if all the items had clear price tag on them xx
e. y.
Stopped more for something to eat than to buy at the garden centre. Cafe was clean and table service was attentive. We got served quickly. Food OK and staff friendly
D.
Nice garden centre.we went into the cafe at lunchtime to be told there was no hot food, no garlic bread, no soup an no scones. Hot toasties only it seemed. Not good impression for a first visit
t. n.
A great place to get plants. Lovely cafe for lunch not helped by lack of staff in the kitchen. Despite this the food was excellent.
S. D.
I haven't been there for many years and must say it's transformed. It's such a great shopping experience. It sells such a wide variety of things, from a cafe garden centre and a food hall.
L. D.
Shopping areas good but cafe very poor. Due to lack of staff a lot of items on the menu were not available. Drinks in the cafe very expensive.
P. F.
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, just a shame they can't keep the hair out of the coffee, clean the cutlery or cook the bacon to a point where it doesn't taste and look like cardboard!
R. R.
Really enjoyed my visit today. This is a dog and child friendly garden center with a small soft play area in the restaurant.
We had soup and a cheese scone at the cafe, both were delicious. There is complimentary water in jugs that you can help yourself too and a light airy space to eat.
The plants are all good quality with a price to match. There is a large range of outdoor plants, shrubs, bedding plants etc along with all the accessories you may need. A good range of garden furniture, seeds and clothes are also available along side houseplants. There is a fish centre too but we didn't look round.
They even have large umbrellas available so you can explore the outside without getting drenched.
a. s. k.
Very spacious garden centre with lots of products to choose from. I found this place reasonably priced and will definitely return in the future.
D. B.
Just off the A38. Ample parking, a well stocked garden center with a Cotton Traders outlet and aquatic centre, to round things off a large cafeteria.
B. R.
Went for breakfast and they don't serve breakfast cobs, even though they had menus on the table? Walking round some of the plants were in a terrible state, some of the roses were rotten and other plants really drooping. So sad to see them not looked after. Won’t bother returning
I. S.
This place is very much a Dobbies on a smaller scale. Although I think they need to be aware that prices influence future sales, I purchased a planter at what was marked up at £34.99 but when I checked they had charged me £42.99.
S. C.
This time I only popped in for a gift card for a Xmas present. Had to avert my eyes from the fabulous selection of plants, clothes (Cotton Traders) and other items. Managed to leave with only a gift card but I'm not quite sure how I managed that! Can always find something that I didn't know I needed!
M. “. L.
A very good garden centre, with a good range of plants, gardening tools, and other equipment for the garden and home too, a good pet fish store, they also sell clothing, but I have not looked at the clothes for sale as they are not the sort of thing I generally wear.
I got some great help from maidenhead aquatics staff.1
R.
The family and I have just had breakfast with santa. We usually go every year and it has slowly deteriorated each year unfortunately. The breakfasts used to be a lot bigger, they got our order wrong and one of us was waiting until they sorted. The santa was great though and staff were lovely. Such a shame we paid £8.99 for a tiny breakfast though ☹️ no mushrooms, 1 sausage and 1 rasher of bacon.
K. B.
A good choice of indoor and outdoor plants. Restaurant can get busy. Lisa was nice and friendly in the restaurant despite having to deal with rude, impatient customers.
S. T.
Garden Centre always a nice experience. Smaller outlets ie.Cotton Traders and two other independent retailers have been relocated or ceased trading to make way for a Mini Sainsburys. Not what you go to a Garden Centre for. Also the waiting time to get served at the café is unacceptable. My wife and I waited 40mins in the queue to order 2 coffee's on our last visit, this is not an uncommon experience unfortunately.
L. G.
Love Dobbies. Became a member recently for tee month drink!
Garden centre great and cafe good to visit too.
d. m.
Absolutely fantastic the staff are very knowledgeable & helpful , in all areas , but especially the aquatics , keep up the good work guys , see you all again soon , to thanks for a great mother's Day 👍
A. W.
A good garden centre with a great selection of plants, trees, shrubs, pots, garden ornaments etc.
Plenty of parking available and toilets and cafe.
M. l.
Large garden and aquatics centre, lots to see and stocks a huge range of plants, fish and pet supplies, well worth a visit.
D. L.
very well organised & presented from the carpark to the till coffee shop 5* but wae a little slow. wellworth a visit!
J. S.
Good o like dobbins garden centre plenty of car parking and different plans staff very helpful
I. “. B.
Does seem to have the depth and variety of plants the location once had. Bit more expensive than others
J. v. Z.
One of the best shopping experiences I ever had. All in one place - one stop shopping and very helpfull staff.
A. S.
Visited restaurant a few days ago, although we had a bit of a wait to be served, I admired the amazing resilience and professional attitude of the restaurant staff. They were impacted by an unexpected shortage of staff and having to manage people's expectation that they weren't able to offer the full menu due to delivery issues. We enjoyed our scones and coffee in the refurbished restaurant. Thank you.
M. U.
We came for some lunch as the food here is always spot on. Bonus is they serve a variety of gluten free and vegan options. Downside is that to order the food and drinks I had to wait in a queue for over 30 minutes. Surely there must be a better way to order food and drink here?
The food however was delicious. For the long wait I've given 1 less star.
J. M.
Its a very good garden centre . It has a wide range of house plants which is good as there are not many places that sell a variety of house plants.
There is also a aquarium shop which sells both fresh water and salt water fish.
There is also an indoor soft play for children which is quite cheap to use.
The only negative to this place are the prices, everything seems to be 20% more than other places.
M. O.
Great place for a lovely day out bus stops everywhere and i had a great Latte.
M. H.
like any other Dobbies garden centre new way off ordering food and drink had to wait 10mins before having to call staff over to order drinks waited over ten mins for the drinks which we had to fetch ourselves which should have been brought to us ,but still had to go to the till to pay very weird way off doing it
S. W.
Great choice of plants, trees etc. Basically everything you could be looking for. Nice selection of gifts for Christmas. Then enjoy a nice stop off at the café. Hot and cold foods served
k. s.
Great staff in the cafe all very friendly. Especially Laurence and Helen and others that we didn't catch their names. Really appreciate it being dog friendly after a long walk.
BUT now NB May 2022 for update and severely revised rating - on Tripadvisor, 3 stars is generous and relies on urgent change!
S.
Good selection of house plants and succulents 🌵🏜️👍🏼 nice cafe with good food and home to maiden head aquatics. Overall a really good place. Go regularly and would highly recommend for all your gardening needs.
S. E.
Lovely cafe with good food and snacks especially the fruit scones. The garden centre was a bit depleted of stock after Christmas.
k. g.
Not very well stocked..disappointed with the cafe one minute past 3 and refused to do me a toasty
l. o.
Lovely and clean ,cafe great , meals are lovely
G. H.
Nice little garden centre, great area for Sainsbury's, nice garden lights, cotton traders and a very nice fish shop. Cafe is lovely
C. D.
Lovely place, disabled friendly, Dog friendly. Lots of choice. A little bit pricey, but all very good quality stuff, Staff are very friendly.

B. T.
OK as a garden centre but seems to have lost something in the change of ownership and the arrival of sainsburys
v. F.
Had an enjoyable couple of hours here staff in all areas helpful. There is a large food court with a number of different brands , excellent choice teas . Coffee and various food including fresh vegetables and fruit. Also basics for cleaning and laundry. On top of that a great selection of plants, garden furniture and tools. A good selection of gifts and cards ad well.
S. P.
It's a garden centre. Nice cafe.
M. E.
They have quite a good range trellis panels which I've bought from here. Good range of outdoor plants. Quite a good range of planters. They have several arbour seats on display too. Can't comment on indoor section. Maybe a touch more expensive than elsewhere but sometimes worth paying a bit more for something you like rather than travelling further afield.
C. A.
Great variety of everything. Well stocked. Bit more expensive than some other places but the quality of the plants is second to none. Only gripe is there never seems to be staff around and as a new gardener it would be great if there were people I could ask for advice. Maybe after COVID the staff level will increase?
v. F.

S. R.
I like this garden, its well stocked. Lots of parking. Nice cafe - slightly pricey though. No air con
T. B.
Good venue with convenient Sainsbury's to add value to your visit
N. S.
Great selection of plants and stuff, but it is very expensive. The food in the cafe is bog standard average warm food but the atmosphere is usually pleasant and the staff are kind and helpful.
G. P.
It's a lovely place to go to 2 for coffee meet ups etc, but I have one moan it's regular now everytime you go the queues for the cafe I so long and on some occasion we've come away and not bothered hope this meets some sympathetic years all the best Gary
T. W.
Excellent staff, the garden center staff were really friendly and helpful and so were the staff in Maidenhead Aquatics. Warm and friendly environment, really enjoyed my visit :)
M. M.
Just a rather expensive garden centre. It's lost the appeal it used to have as it is now one of those sell everything kind of places. They even have a sainsbury grocery store in there.
I only go to buy fish products now as there are far better and much cheaper garden centres or nurseries around.
B. T.
OK as a garden centre but seems to have lost something in the change of ownership and the arrival of sainsburys
R. R.
Lovely garden centre. A good selection of plants. It has an aquarium section and a cafe.
A. G.
Quality garden centre, good range of everything gardening related. Aquatic centre is top notch too.
As is unfortunately the cost as if late, prices are a bit on the high side but overall I would return
L. M.
Excellent garden centre, nice restaurant but extremely slow service needs to get more staff and Improve service
A. S.
Most enjoyable visit, and love the variety of Christmas items, purchased quite a few presents for my grandchildren for Christmas, enjoy the morning coffee there too, especially as I got them free with my Dobbies card, well worth being a member,
M. N.
Pretty good for chain garden centre, improved from when it wyevale I would say but not massively though its now got a Sainsbury though I didn't see what was being sold there. Plants look reasonable.
T. H.
Lovely place friendly staff very clean lovely food .
K. L.
A good selection of plants and pots, pricing is about right for larger plants but smaller specimens typically come up quite expensive. They have a nice clothing selection and a good range of gift-type products (candles, figurines, that sort of thing). Staff are very knowledgeable.
M. W.
Not visited for a while. Was really surprised how much nicer it is inside.....it has a Sainsburys supermarket inside for goodness sake hahahaha. It was neat, tidy, organised and reasonable. The outdoor plants were very good
K. S.
Great little garden centre, nice to have a coffee and feel a bit like normal. Staff were lovely and helpful! One of the ladies in the cafe managed to find something to suit my fussy eating habits and a guy in the garden area was very informative and knowledgeable. Got a plant I've been looking round for too :)
C. D.
Lovely place, disabled friendly, Dog friendly. Lots of choice. A little bit pricey, but all very good quality stuff, Staff are very friendly.
W. H.
Lots of stock, lovely restaurant.
A. B.
Good food and dog friendly even in part of cafe. Cotton traders inside and Sainsburys. Plenty of free car parking
D. T.
Nice big well set out garden centre. A good choice of plants. On the down side we noticed a lot of dried up plants yeah weather's been hot but surely they must be watering every day .
Staff seemed ok as far as I tell as I only went to the till for a gift card.
H. G.
Nice range of plants. Covid measurements in place. Good sized carpark. Prices are as expected.
Large range of coal BBQ kits with sizes to suit everyone. A good range of optional extras sold as well for all your BBQ needs.
A. J.
Took my 83 Yr old mother there today just to get out of the house as she was going stir crazy and it had been two weeks since her first covid vaccine. She thoroughly enjoyed her experience as the garden centre was very well organised with all the appropriate restrictions in place. We will be making more visits as we fill it is a very safe place to go and still has the variety of items to shop for
B. M.
Enjoyed being able to stroll round. We got some seeds ready for planting and coloorworks kitchen items suitable for people like me who suffer with arthritis. I'm thrilled to bits with them.
S. H.
As with most garden centres, prices are expensive and the service in the restaurant was very slow! Wont be rushing back.
g. b.
Very nice garden centre with a small but well stocked Maidenhead Aquatics with all the fish in excellent condition, the garden centre has a nice selection of high quality plants and a large range of garden accessories to, there are also a large selection of outdoor clothing available from a separate store within the building, there is also a nice cafe with a good selection of food both hot and cold available for a fair price, finally there is a large selection of garden tools and nicknacks for around the home available as well.
M. V. W.
Very helpful staff. Plenty of "keep your distance" signs and sanitizer. A few elderly customers either ignorant or self-control who occasionally invadedmy space, especially when queuing for the checkout. I will certainly return, but make sure it is not near lunchtime.
V. C.
Lovely garden centre, lots of things here as well as plants. Books, gifts, tropical fish, clothes, wellies all sorts.
Pet accessories, great range of everything. Helpful staff and always easy to find what you've come in for.
Nice food in the cafe, again the staff are always lovely and very helpful.
l. o.
Lovely and clean ,cafe great , meals are lovely
M. P.
The garden centre has been taken over recently by Dobbies and is being upgraded. Some good bargains to be had in plants that were part of the previous set up. Lots of new stock in, very tempting, I had a birthday gift voucher to spend, no problem there! The reward system is fab, £10 per year membership which gets me two free drinks per month and cake and drinks for two on my birthday, plus 10% of garden plants and bulbs etc. What's not to love about that!
C. T.
Always have to queue for ages in the restaurant just to get a coffee. Why don't they have a separate queue just for hot drinks like other garden centres do
D. A.
Enjoyed a trip here. There is lots of interesting plants, especially outdoor ones.
Prices were a little high though there was lots of discounted plants... Possibly a carry over from bring closed due to covid19.
Would like to see more inside plants but worth a trip.
R. A.
I cant stand garden centres so I've got my Nan I take around this place once a week to review this place: I think the place is great. I think the prices are fine, with a good variety of plants. The Christmas display is excellent. One bad point is the cafe is very expensive for what you get. The fish and chips are over a tenner for a medium portion.
J. L.
Love the new Sainsburys but can we have more than one checkout open . This was causing a queue and will put people off if not sorted.
P. B.
You can have a free coffee every month
m. c.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff, well stocked and maintained
L. C.
Average.lots of items without prices on them
Have to find out at the tills how much they cost.01/5/22 the restaurant seems better organised.🍽🍵
J. C.
Most of the plants for outdoors we very shabby and some were dead.. We were supprise they were on sale at full price. We bought bird nesting boxes. The selection was good.
J. P.
Good range of plants, well displayed but expensive. Like all garden centres nowadays, they're difficult to position what their key market is. Plants, dog beds, sweets, clothing, scented candles, baubles, and probably bangles, if you look hard enough....
H. H.
Wheelchair accessible, although it's a bit tight around the clothing department. You can take your dog but dogs aren't allowed in the café. A little pricey but average for garden centres, everything seems good quality and they have great reductions.
A. K.
Very nicely organised and a very good aquatic centre. Recommended to visit.
L. M.
Still seems to be going through a transition since change to Dobbies. Now incorporating Sainsburys! Bit of a mixture but I did find a lovely rose for a Wedding gift.
R. N.
Great quality plants lots of variety of item from plants to clothes to cookware and Christmas. The aquarium shop inside is always a high point staff there are really helpful and knowledgeable with great ranges of stock.
D. Y.
Visited today, ample free parking, safe environment, friendly staff, vast choice, café, highly recommend
F. w.
Went here today for aquatic plants and was very impressed with the quality of plants different shopping within the garden centre easy to find and park. Would recommend
S. T.
Excellent jacket spud with prawns, quite pricey but worth it 😁
S. C.
Very Nice Garden Centre, who offer a very nice selection of discounts and offers for loyal customers. They have a large range of clothing and gifts too which are at a great price. Breakfast they serve in the Cafe is very very nice. My daughter loves the small soft play area which you can buy tickets for at the Café.
f. w.
Always a huge selection of plants and bits and bobs
A. D.
Thank you for quick, friendly service today . We thoroughly enjoyed afternoon tea , nice selection of cakes , crust on sandwiches, strong coffee brew goes lovely with cream. Lemon wedge made tea cuppa refreshing . Love free refills fir our drinks as well, would recommend to a friend and deffo coming back during weekday to avoid crowds. Autistic people friendly, environment and staff. Happy to give tip .
G. R.
Went to Dobbies to get some new fish service was good, but decided to have a drink and stone first waited half hour to get serve only two people serving, also prices alittle expensive
W. O.
Nice cafe but to expensive for what they dish up.
Not enough staff behind the cafe as extremely slow.
Tables always full and need clearing much faster as looks extremely untidy.
Plants are nice but alot of things far to expensive and stay on the shelves far to long.
J. W.
We as a family went to this garden centre yesterday. As I'm celiac and finding any6to eat is difficult, but I must say the staff st the restaurant was amazing.
Their names are Lawrence and I believe Jasmine.
Nothing was to much trouble very helpful and friendly.
S. J.
An okay garden centre, tucked just off the A38. Blink and you'll miss the entrance.
They carry all the usual types of plants that you would expect, along with garden supplies and ornaments.
There is an aquarium centre where you can buy and outfit a tank and also purchase fish (marine, tropical and cold water).
You can buy gifts here but it's quite expensive throughout.
The food is okay but portion sizes are really quite small in comparison to what you're paying for. I haven't eaten here more than once, as a result.
The children's soft play area is nice but again you have to pay per child.
Staff have mostly been friendly to us when we've visited here.
All in all, a nice place to stroll around.
P. B.
First time visiting for some plants. They had a good variety of potting plants to choose from and what i needed to definitely return in the future
T. T.
Fantastic place to stroll around. Lots of lovely plants and gifts , clothes. Great cafe with lots of choices. Highly recommended
B. H.
Ok garden centre, had a meal in the cafe not the best fish and chips I've ever had but i was very hungry so ate it all,
it was very busy though with eat out to help out so they were very pushed. Also the tables reserved for afternoon tea hadn't got any reserved notices on them and so we got moved just before our food came and we then had a job to find a vacant table!!
S. P.
It's a garden centre. Nice cafe.
S. P.
Staff were very helpful and quick with lunch as we had our 3 year old grandson with us and he was hungry. They couldn't do enough for us, thank you. Thoroughly enjoyed lunch and looking round.
K. J.
Revamped extensively since our last visit and a big improvement.
R. L.
Met up with an old friend and had the afternoon tea, absolutely wonderful and the staff were so friendly and helpful. They have got the social distancing spot on. The food was tasty and varied.
B. R.
Great garden centre. Dog friendly so don't leave dogs in car. Dogs can go in outside sitting area in restaurant.
Great selection of garden accessories. Clothing, gifts and much more. Just down the road is the Mercian wharf with its shops and marina.
J. B.
Well stocked garden centre, pleasant staff, but both the food and the cafe area was rather disappointing. I would definitely avoid the scones as a possible light snack. On my visit they were very dry, tasteless and quite inedible ... however, the birds loved them.
L. C.
We enjoyed a scone and a cup of tea here. Very good place to take someone in a wheelchair. Good access and a disability toilet. Nice to look around the garden centre too.
A. W.
Very nice place with a Sainsbury's inside
J. C.
Definitely not as nice as when in was owned by Wyvale. Thought it looked rather scruffy. Meet some friends for a coffee/tea, not been to the place since it was taken over. One friend had soup and a roll and said it tasted awful. Toilets also weren't very clean and rather smelly. Don't think we'll bother again.
C. S.
It has something for everyone, besides the usual garden centre, there is a clothing shop, sainsbury's goods are available, and gifts.
M. B.
3 people serving in the cafe but very slow ,garden centre and other shops great
I. D.
Well prepared for social distancing ... great hassle free experience
Got a mini Sainsburys here now too
A. B.
Good layout. Good stock as I got everything we went for. Good scone but would have liked clotted cream too. 5 stars if clotted cream and napkins next time we visit.
S. H.
Excellent! Haven't visited for a while, really impressed! Better flow of products around the store, friendly staff and fast and efficient service in the restaurant.
S. P.
Afternoon tea was average. Restaurant very spacious with plenty of outside seating too. Service friendly and efficient.
L. M.
Nice garden centre but the most expensive for plants I’ve seen. Charging double the price for many plants compared to other garden centres and more than double on nursery and b&q plants. I love plants but Im afraid I wasn’t willing to pay the prices. Loved the conservatory restaurant though.
K. H.
Wonderful selection of indoor & outdoor plants, shrubs etc., ornaments, books, garden furniture, and Christmas decorations by the sleigh full! Clothes, wellies, and a great Aquatic Centre. Cafe. Excellent choice of so many items of which I have named but a few. Slghtly pricey, but certainly no more expensive than one would expect for a Garden Centre. Try it, and I am sure you will find something to temp you to spend!
G. L.
Now it has become Dobbies it is too expensive overall. We bought some reduced plants which was good but full price items are way too much. There were also a lot of empty plant carousels outside that you did not get with the Wyevale/Findern Garden centre that was. When we got inside the gift section was extremely poor and small in size. The book section was all children's books and barely anything for grown ups. There were too many things like kettles etc to the detriment of garden related items. Also they don't sell garden magazines anymore!!
E. C.
Covid secure practices followed and a large variety of high quality items at a good, fair price. Shame I couldn't find a burnt orange azalea but I will revisit soon for another look
D. M.
Lovely place ,lots of choice excellent christmas section ,just a shame a lot of the christmas products were'nt priced marked,
G. F.
Busy, but could do with more staff on tills and in the café. As it is mostly under glass it's very hot and some fans would be very useful.
J. D.
Love this place. Can spend hours wondering
N. H.
Great garden centre with a lovely cafe to get a bite to eat and drink. Definitely recommended!
G. B.
Good plant selection restraunt OK. Has improved since my last visit but still could be better.
I. M.
It's massive all you want from a garden centre
J. R.
Needed help as storm Dennis had ruined my pond and I required new pond liner .The guy was really helpful in the aquarium part advised me which things were good , fast and efficient as I needed to get it sorted as 18 of my fish needed to get back in the water asap! ! Always go to here for fish stuff can't recommend enough ,cheers 👍🐟🐠
V. K.
Food fair, plenty of choice for garden shrubs, plants and flowers. A small play area indoors for toddlers. Ample parking no charge. Some Christmas bargains to be had. Indoor eating and outdoor especially if you have a dog with you.
A. T.
Nice garden centre. I think it used to be Blue Diamond group, so was happy to visit somewhere different, but more expensive than others in the local area.
J. W.
I visited the Garden Centre on Mothering Sunday, and after a pleasant visit where upon closing time I had the misfortune to drop my car key in the footwell of my car. The result being my car key snapped in half!
The manager kindly offered for a member of the team to drive me home (as I live fairly locally) for me to fetch my spare key and return to the Garden Centre.
I just wanted to say that this was a lovely gesture, and cannot thank the lovely lady who kindly drove me who wouldn't accept any reward.
Now, that's what I call good customer service!
R. D.
Wide variety of gardening goods also some clothes and a small Saintsbury 's in side.Quite a nice large cafe with inside and outside seating.
H. J.
I paid £2 for my four year old to go in the soft play area. I had to get her out because there were some older boys in there throwing everything at each other and fighting. I kept going in to tell them not to throw the bigger items. They weren't wearing wrist bands and I saw no sign of any adults supervising them. I persuaded my granddaughter to do some colouring until they left, but they were there for a long time so we gave up and left. Feel annoyed that we had to pay but there was no supervision. We wasted our money and time.
P. W.
When Dobbies took over this garden centre things were a bit rubbish. But now there have been lots of improvements, pricing has improved and there is a good choice of items and things to see.
S. F.
It was well stocked the restaurant was run like a well oiled car service was a little slow but then again they were very busy will definatley visit again
S.
Good place. Plenty to choose from.
P. A.
Nice garden centre and we’ve been regulars for years. However I do wish they would put the heating on in the restaurant as it’s quite uncomfortable sitting in our coats. Come on Findern Garden Centre. Make it warm and inviting or we will go elsewhere
C. H.
A good garden centre with a good selection of Christmas items. VERY strict with coronavirus precautions.
We queued for 40 minutes to get in. Prepare to wait.
A. B.
Lovely Garden Centre To Visit. You Will Find Items You Would Not Find Elsewhere. Friendly Plesant Staff And A Place To Enjoy A Warm Drink And Hot Food. A Must To Visit And See For Yourself
A. B.
Large garden centre with plenty of restaurant space. No meals when I went because of staff shortage. Only coffee and cake.
B. N.
Really good value and restaurant lovely.
Dobbies card only small annual amount if you get it free two hot drinks a month and other discounts/benefits well worth it.
j. c.

A few months ago, I saw a very nice patio set, and it was a very good price.
unfortunately it was out of stock ! but a very nice lady took my details, and said she would contact me in 2-3 weeks when they were back in stock.
This did not happen !, so after about five weeks, I went back and asked again, and was told they would be in on the 18th of may , and everyone who ordered one , would get one ??????
so still no phone call and no patio set !
this is so bad and what is customer service ? have they even heard of it ??? I'm not at all happy and will not be returning
n. k. v. p.
Ok ish
B. M.
Typical large garden centre. Lots of flowers, shrubs and fruit trees in a covered outside area. Inside there are clothes shops, novelty goods and a decent cafe. A bit expensive. Large car park. Toilets
N. B.
Need to have more signage where you can pay I picked up shorts only to be told you can't pay at the checkout got to return to the clothing depot not impressed but is that there lose or mine
D. B.
Excellent service. Where do you go when your loo seat breaks and the B & Q queue stretches for miles. Answer = Screwfix. Order and pay on-line and when you get there it's ready for you.
P. W.
My sister and I took my elderly mother for lunch here today. The young gentleman who served us in the cafeteria, Lawrence, went out of his way to help us and we would personally like to thank him. I couldn't find any serviettes and he gladly pointed them out (even though he was probably thinking 'they're right under your nose' lol!). As my mum is not a big eater we shared a main meal and he was only too happy to supply an additional plate...and extra tartare sauce! When I went to inform him my mum was ready for her pudding he was busy serving someone else but acknowledged me and within minutes brought the pudding over to us. He is a credit to your company and I would be grateful if you could pass on our very grateful thanks to him. And....the food was lovely too!
M. A.
1st visit since taken over. Enjoyed it but have a big complaint. Heavy shower while there which left lots of puddles on the car park such that a very deep and dangerous pothole on the exit was full of water and not visible. Am surprised that my tyre survved it !!!!
2 years ago a relative had a burst tyre following a visit as she was returning home on the A38 dual carrriageway. It caused her to have to mount the grass verge and await rescue. I shall check again to see if you have had it repaired.
V. S.
Very pleasant surroundings, great selection of plants. The café is bright & airy, the food looks good, but we did not eat there today.
J. C.
Always good . Now selling trousers in my leg length Brill.
i. m.
Great range of plants, clothing gift ideas and a lively restaurant with a childrens play area. Forgot the aquarium section too. Always good to look at. Some furniture.. mostly outside. Bought our two outdoor folding recliners here a few years back. Still going strong. The aisles arent too crowded so that you dont feel hemmed in. Great place.
j. n.
Pleasant Garden Centre, good selection of plants, garden and homewards, welcoming café, very covid friendly close to A38 and A50 .
r. r.
Pricey but comprehensive. There was a very good selection of trees, shrubs, vegetables and all the usual nonsense as you the till. But I might choose somewhere else if I was on a budget.
K. S.
We called into the Finden branch in Derby today, for winter pansies, and to change detailes on our free membership. Well laid out, safe distancing, staff very helpful, very pleasant visit
S. Y.
Shopping for all needs food Hall needs to be looked at takes to long to be seated and food and drinks take a age to be served
P. B.
It was really nice at Dobbies help full staff and some really nice healthy plants. And very reasonable prices.
R. N.
Great quality plants lots of variety of item from plants to clothes to cookware and Christmas. The aquarium shop inside is always a high point staff there are really helpful and knowledgeable with great ranges of stock.

Was really happy to find this garden centre. Easy parking and the staff really friendly with advice on plants to buy.
G.
Lovely garden centre but also our favourite place to go for tropical fish supplies as the staff are extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the fish and supplies needed.
R. W.
Quality is generally very good but pricey compared with Swarkestone Nursery just down the road. Restaurant food quality is good however service both at the counter and awaiting hot food to be brought out is very slow.
M. M.
Yeah good
M. K.
Disappointed I was unable to get help with a query about some outdoor dining furniture that had started to rot and caused me to fall and injure my shoulder. The leg of my chair had gone like bolser wood despite being kept undercover during bad weather. It was quite expensive when purchased about 2 years ago. It is obviously poor quality imported rubbish made in China or somewhere similar.
A. C.
Great selection of plants and garden related items. Also small supermarket and large restaurant.
J. M.
Very nice, aquarium is beautiful and the cafe is nice too. Decent range of products for sale.
R. L.
OK but some spaces as new season stock is awaited
H. W.
As a garden centre and general gift store it's ok.Lots of choice. Restaurant is very hit and miss. Service can be very slow at the till. Scones always dry and it's not cheap
N. L.
We always enjoy a wonder around here, and the cafeteria it brilliant.
R. L.
New management. Variety of plants is similar to the previous. Middle section where orchid are keep is a bit crowded and not brightly illuminated
K. S.
Has everything you need that at a very reasonable price. Great layout & staff are really helpful.
C. S.
I visited the aquatic department today for spare parts for a pond pump. The guy who served me really knew his stuff and was also very polite.
L. D.
I quite often come to Findern Garden Centre with my Mother and Aunty. I have a little look round, but leave them to it while I work on my laptop in the cafe with a cappuccino and a slice of cake (o: The staff are really helpful in the garden bit, and the restaurant staff are extremely polite too. A big 5 stars from me!
A. P.
Nice enough place, helpful staff and plenty of products to choose from at reasonable prices

We needed a bag of Compost and didn't mind queuing in the sunshine for 25 minutes as opposed to an hour and a half wait at B&Q.
G. H.
