We went to the cafe, The Potting Shed. Garden centre is an add on bonus and looked well stocked. Café was well worth the trip. Excellent food and latte quickly serve and very tasty. Cakes are to die for. Make sure you eat the stood up so the calories don't count.

A small Garden Centre with a cafe in the back yard. The service was good but the tables outside could have been cleaner. Did not see anyone wiping down after customers had left. The Victoria sponge was delicious and we enjoyed our drinks. The staff were courteous and cheerful.

What a fantastic little garden centre. A brilliant range of top quality plants. And the icing on the cake was the coffee shop. Had a delicious all day breakfast, and the staff were wonderful, helpful, cheerful and friendly.

I like this garden centre, because it's still more of a nursery than garden centre and the plant prices are very competitive. The café is lovely and the cakes are delicious. I know they have separate indoor café area for dog owners(currently out of service), but it would be lovely if the whole café was dog friendly. ...if only temporarily until the roof is fixed. OK to sit outside when it's nice, but then everyone wants to sit outside when it's nice. Missing a financial trick I think.

Myself and my mum have been going here since I was a child. We know the owner and the staff.. They're always ready to help, very friendly and polite.. Unlike other stores and garden centres, they keep up to date with watering, so the plants are always healthy!! The only small critique is that the cafe is a little expensive for some of what they sell. For example, if you're looking for tea and cake for two.. it'll be around 10 pounds. It is lovely though and definitely worth supporting this smaller/local business!! 👍😊

Can get busy weekends, they have live music entertainment now and then. We always have breakfast there on Sundays. Lots of parking, inexpensive garden centre.22/5/22. Very helpfull staff.

We love it here. Brilliant selection of plants and there's always something new to look at. Social distancing was well observed on our last visit and we managed to pick up some great echinacea and lavender. The owner is also really friendly and happy to help with anything you need.

Love this little garden centre and cafe, good selection of plants and gardening items, but more importantly, the cafe is a great place for lunch, or coffee and a cake with friends. Have visited with friends and family for afternoon tea, lunch, and just on my own for a little treat. Great selection of food, lovely surroundings and friendly staff. They'll even box up the cake if you can't manage the huge slice in one sitting!

We have been going here for a number of years and never had any problems. However we visited for lunch one afternoon for a special occasion and the service was awful. We had simple dishes for eg, sandwiches or jacket potato. With the sandwich order it had to be sent back twice and still came out wrong. We did complain to a member of staff who half heartedly apologised and walked off. Not impressed at all. Shall not be going for lunch again in a hurry if they cant get a simple sandwich right

Having regularly visited since it first opened, We feel it's changing reduced menu prices going up and cakes bigger but is the taste there? Typical problem of success then "let's cut back make more profit". Is someone new in charge? hard to say but worth rewinding and put service and quality back before it becomes a failure.

I can only give 3 stars as our experience was not the greatest. All plants were in good health and watered which is not always the case at larger garden centres. Prices slightly above average but nothing ridiculous again unlike some branded places. The big let down for us was the potting shed cafe. We walked in and tried to find a clear table but had to settle for a table with dirty cups and plates on it as nobody seemed interested in clearing tables which were all in the same state. We browsed the menu which was concise but with reasonably ample choice and I went to the counter to order, only to be told they dont serve platters on a Sunday ( no mention of this on the menu or anywhere in the cafe) so we had to change our order. 2 meals were ok, although the mushrooms looked as if they had been cooked all day, but the third, described as vegetable soup arrived as an insipid puree of vegetables with a lack of taste and the consistency of watered down baby food, when we commented on this the waitress just said sorry. Another table had two afternoon tea style racks delivered and they looked lovely, no mention of these on the menu or price on any specials board in the room so no idea how they ordered them, unless they already knew of their existence from a previous visit. We had driven over an hour to meet my daughter as it seemed like a good half way point but wont be calling there again due to the issues described. On the plus side, we did leave with some nice healthy plants which are now in the garden but that's the least you expect from a visit to a garden centre.

Excellent food, lovely flowers and displays, friendly and happy staff.amazing hand cut proper chips! Had a tuna mayo sandwich which came with a lovely fresh and crunchy salad and homemade slaw its my favourite thing to have with a few chips ,always surprised at how many places cant make a simple tasty sandwich but markeaton garden centre has got it spot on,my husband had a prawn one which was also perfect, they made our 6yr old daughter egg and chips which she throughly enjoyed and was very taken with the fig tree that was growing next to us ! we will be returning soon.

This was a gem of a find. The food is first class. Huge portions . Reasonable prices and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit. I'm going to attempt to have a breakfast there next time but I will have to make sure my stomach is empty before I go.I have seen it and its huge.

Good selection of high quality plants and wonderful tea rooms. Good base for local walks to Mackworth Church, Markeaton Stones and on to Kedleston. We find ourselves there about once a month. Nice friendly staff. Oh, and you do not feel you are in some sort of soulless hypermarket.

A nice garden centre with some really lovely plants and garden decor, however I find it a little overpriced - seeds you can buy elsewhere for cheap are highly priced! Wouldn't go here for the basics but it is a nice little shop with a cafe too

A cute little place, you can easily drive past it, looks a bit like a farm (it probably was once), as it was just after xmas and before the Spring time the garden plants etc were a bit sparce, however I did get some terracotta plant pots I'd been looking for so it was well worth the visit, the cafe looked inviting but it was too early for us, so maybe next time we're passing?
