Reviews of Wellington Home & Gardens

What a lovely place. Visited on a whim and loved everything I saw. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and wonderful stock items to look at. Fun to see the Christmas lights appearing on the shelves.
Lovely cafe with great coffee.
I'll be back soon.
P. C.
Lovely gentleman came over to chat with us as we were looking at the Shepard's hut. Very informative and friendly.
Great choice of plants and pots. There's also an 'antique' area which has some amazing curios.
Didn't try the restaurant bit...but that's for next time.
Prices vary for all pockets, although having said that we did go over budget, as we fell in love with some unusual flint pots and willow plants.
The lady at the desk, told us how to care for the willows without being asked. Great service and fabulous place to wander
M. W.
Good layout and interesting stuff for the garden. Some wacky sculpture like the silver ladies on the moon, and good mix of East & west artifacts. Biggest problem is the café. Could be much better. Also flipping expensive. £4.80 for a pot of tea for two. Those Birchall t-bags are 5p each. I guess staff costs are v.high.
H. B.
A good array of healthy looking plants. The architectural salvage is varied and interesting too. Good selection of food products as well.
E. C. G.
Cafe makes great coffee, and the budda bowl for lunch is consistently excellent. Garden centre is rather limited in terms of plant selection, but great shop (especially for cards and gifts) and staff are very helpful.
J. B.
The acfe there is really nice and cosy.
4 of us had lunch there and was well priced. We have some toasties a soup and a jacket potato, all really tasty.
The garden centre itself was a on the pricy side. The antiquities section was just crazy, simple items costing in to the thousands, have seen other pictures on here it doesn't look like these items are sold very often and you can see why.
A. T.
Nice selection of plants. Great choice of amazing statues. Great cafe. Nice shop and a pleasant place to spend an hour or two. They specialise in gaeden reclamation.

Wellington Home and Gardens is now an independent garden centre. The new owners are introducing an exciting range of vintage goods for both interiors and the garden. They have improved the cafe and have big plans for the future. Where possible they will be sourcing plants, food and gifts locally and will be introducing their own 'Acanthus' brand of quality scented candles and room sprays.

Had a nice visit. Interesting place , wide range of products and good coffee and cake.
M. T.
Good food and value. Plenty of rustic things to see.
L. C.
Lovely welcoming place. Some nice unique gifts and plenty of garden plants and tools. The restaurant is really nice, good value for money and the food is amazing. We had the flat bread butter chicken salad, was full and couldn't manage the lovely looking cakes!
C.
We go every Sunday for a cuppa and cake and the service is amazing, as is the food.
J. D.
Such a lovely place to walk around, then enjoy a lovely piece of cake and coffee!

We have recently moved to this area and were thrilled to find this so close to us! It is a gem. We only moved a couple of weeks ago and have been three times already! There is a fantastic and eclectic range of products for both inside and out of the home and we have not left without buying something (s!) so far! A great place for unique gifts.
I would also like to say how wonderful the staff are. From the friendly and intuitive service in the restaurant (the food is lovely too!) to the wonderful lady who is often on the checkouts by the exit. I could stand and chat to her all afternoon! She tells me that they "go big" for Christmas so we can't wait for that to start as we do too!!
The way the tables for the restaurant are laid out inside and in the covered area outside is really nice and makes it a perfect place to meet someone for a drink and some cake (which are gorgeous!). There is also plenty of veggie options which is always a bonus for me.
I love it and I can't praise it highly enough. For the staff to be so happy in their work, it must be just as nice a place to work in as it is to be in as a customer. I think I might pop down there again now!! (They sell nice plants as well in case you thought we only go there for the friendly staff and the cakes!!) It is one of the nicest home and garden centres we know of (and we've been to lots!!)
K. P.
Great food from the café, really well looked after plants, and lots of unique homewares
R. H.
Much improved from last visit some years ago. Interesting selection of products, nice cafe.
J. T.
Very nice centre with some unusual choices. Cafe is good, you can take the dog in. Some things are quite expensive. We bought a few artefacts and garden supplies.
This is a great place to visit any time of the year as all the seasons are very well catered for.
K. G.
Very interesting place. Unfortunately dogs allowed AND in the cafe/restaurant.
G. S.
A friendly place, a variety of products ranging from gardening products to antiques. A visit to a lovely restaurant for something to eat and drink rounds off a pleasant shopping experience. So, are there any downsides, amazingly not too many, but there is one, its very expensive, which could be a problem for them given that everyone is now feeling the pinch.
S. C.
Some really good changes here and the displays of furniture are great!!! Some items are a little pricey!! The coffee shop is very clean staff are very friendly. Worth a visit.
H. T.
We had a lovely lunch at the garden centre. Extremely well organised. Felt very safe. Food was simple but very tasty, quick to serve and both very efficient and safe. We sat under shelter nice and dry, whilst the heavens opened. Followed by a great shopping experience. An expensive day out but enormously satisfying.
R. Y.
Lovely coffee and teacake!! Ideal for an early morning snack!! Absolutey huge garden centre, with friendly and helpful staff. A most relaxing and enjoyable experience, much to my surprise!! Visit, you won't be disappointed!!!🙂 …

Busy today,, people enjoying the outdoor cafeteria amongst the plant displays.
Good selection of plants , all in very good condition & fair prices. Always help in loading heavy soil etc.
Well organised for social distancing.
Friendly helpful staff.
Wellington home and garden centre is easy to drive to & plenty of parking.
F. R.
Always have amazing cakes and coffee! Lovely place!
J. B.
Have visited the garden centre many times and always been very happy with it. Unfortunately my wife and I visited yesterday looking for a “stone pot” for a rose my wife had been given for her birthday - found the perfect one but when we went to pay for it with a garden voucher (which my wife had also been given for her birthday) we were told they do not accept garden vouchers !! We were disappointed but paid cash as we liked the pot but we will not be calling there again if we have garden vouchers to spend.
L.
Good to call in for a drink or bite to eat, great restaurant staff. Outdoor seating areas, and lovely plants to buy staff are very knowledgeable. Great antiques and collectables around the site. Parking area and toilets. Pets are welcome too. Worth a visit 💯% …
J. C.
Lovely friendly garden centre ,great plants at reasonable prices ,nice cafe with great seating around the centre ,well recommended
m. b.
Absolutely geogeous garden centre. Very surprised by the vast selection of interior and exterior goods at reasonable prices. Staff in coffee shop and on the till were friendly and helpful. Looking forward to going back
D. B.
Went here to visit the outdoor cafe while passing by. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The food was superb for a list snack (Pizza, burgers, jacket spuds, etc). The food was fresh and served rather quickly. Everything seems to be home made and not frozen.
Would highly recommend if passing and after a light snack.
L. R.
Great place to while away a couple of hours, and spend a fortune. Lovely mix of plants, reclaimed garden ornaments and new stuff...so much to see and buy. Currently have an outdoor cafe which serves hot and cold drinks, snacks and light lunches all reasonably priced. Def worth a visit.

Great place but largely overpriced and on our visit yesterday we had lunch there and only realised later that they'd missed off part of our meals (a side order that was supposed to accompany the main meal). Again lovely place but disappointed by our recent experience so will think twice about going back.
Hi Aiden, many thanks for your reply to my earlier review. With regard to the meal, I'm sure you would have rectified the omission at the time but when the food eventually came, we assumed that we should have mentioned we wanted the side order (house slaw) at the time of ordering and weren't actually charged for it. In any case, you were quite busy and we'd understandably had to wait a while for the food and didn't want to wait longer. It was only looking at the receipt on the way home that we realised we'd been charged the full price. Also, a couple of other items ordered weren't put on our tray so we had to go back for those as we almost forgot them.
As an aside, being a bit of a coffee buff, I think you could look at your coffee machine, the quality of my cappuccino was not good (my burger was delicious however).
With regard to the overpriced items, I was thinking more about some of the bought in, more mass produced items, such as decorative plant pots and ceramics etc. as one example, I have seen some of these significantly cheaper elsewhere. I acknowledge that the the unique items are one off's and would expect them to be more.
To balance these comments, we do love the store, it's visually great and quite inspiring and have always bought things on every visit but my thoughts re pricing are shared by family and friends who've also visited.
D. H.
Full of really lovely, quirky stuff. Cafe is excellent. Staff very friendly - even let me fill a big container of water for my poorly car!
Like all garden centres, it has a little cat roaming around and it is so cute and playful!
C. R.
Great garden center! Very spacious with everything you could ever want to decorate your home/garden. They also have a lovely cafe which was offering light lunch options (quiche, paninis, salads, etc.) coffee, beers. The staff were friendly and helpful & the decorations within the store are warm and inviting. Would definitely recommend a visit!
H. J.
Lovely place so many nice things. Cafe is lovely too. Did the Gardening week activities with our kids and they loved it. It was easy to book and such a fantastic idea.
S. D.
I & my Fiancè love this place always came here on a weekly basis to sit in peace with coffee & a book, whilst he did his crossword. Lost him to the river 9 months ago i did return on my own afew months ago but i kept crying. I will try again in a couple of weeks time as id like to keep returning for the peace, sat in plant area outside having a coffee 🙂x

My wife and I had been looking for a particular garden parasol for weeks but it was sold out everywhere, even the large online retailers. We were on holiday in Herefordshire and popped in to the garden centre for a browse. Lo and behold, they had exactly the one we'd been looking for. We enquired with a member of staff who couldn't do enough to help. She even took my wife into the stock room so that she could see how big the box was. Annoyingly, far too big for us to take away in the car. She then contacted the owner who came out to chat to us. What was absolutely brilliant was that he offered to send the parasol to us (60 miles away) by Parcelforce. The item was with us, safe and sound, two days later. You cannot fault that level of customer service and going the extra mile. It's why we favour independently owned garden centres local to us as well. Plus the range of pots and plants was fantastic. We'd both like to thank the member of staff and owner for their help and sending us our parasol. If we lived locally, we'd probably be there every weekend!
T. G.
We had a great time at Wellington Home & Gardens, they had a lovely selection of interior and garden items and really helpful staff at hand. I would highly recommend spending some time in the cafe during your visit, they have barista coffee and freshly made food. We'll be sure to visit again soon!

Decent breakfast served, good choices

I like the garden centre and will continue to use it, but was given completly the wrong advise on a very expensive plant. The staff need to say if they don't know, or go and look it up. They should not make up advice.
I explained clearly what I wanted the plant for and it would be outside in my boarder. On getting home and contacting the RHS for advise I found that the plant was not frost tolerant as I had been told, and in our area was to be treated as a house plant during the winter. This was very bad advise for a plant which was £35.00.
With the advise given this plant would have died over the winter.
C. M.
Delicious cheese scones, unusual antiques.
A. W.
Took my grandson after school for a wander and something to eat, the staff were excellent, almost near closing, but the restaurant satff made him a cheese roll, and I had a chilli baked potato. Lovely. Would be great if hot food continued longer. Then we purchased some garden plants and looked around the wonderful garden furniture
A. T.
I love this garden center!!! Since it has changed from Wyevale to Wellington Home and Gardens, it has become so much more interesting. The new owners have done a great job of incorporating salvage items for sale in their displays and it just makes the whole thing a more unique experience than just going to a regular garden center.
The variety of house plants is really good compared to others in the area and the furniture they are now stocking is unlike anything I have seen in other places. I didn't get chance to try the restaurant as its being completely gutted and updated. So i'll go back soon to sample the wares, hopefully it will be a new menu too!
I found the staff I spoke to to be polite and helpful. All in all I had a lovely visit and I would recommend it to anyone as a destination place or if they were just passing.
B. S.
