Reviews of Tingley Garden Centre

Looks good inside still finishing touches to do which you can see happening, if your after Xmas stuff trees decorations plenty if choices here. Has a breakfast in cafe was good 👍 😋

Large new garden centre from same people as Tong Garden Centre.
Very large car park. Many disabled parking spaces. Very new so no landscaping completed yet. Lots of mud and young sapling trees.
Open pedestrian space near entrance was bring used by Carol Singers. Imagine this space could be popular for other groups through out the year.
At this time of year change Garden Centre to Christmas shop. Very wide range of decorations and tress. There is a section for plants and a further outdoor section for pots, composts, gravels etc
Blooms is there restaraunt. Large and airy with many seats. QR code on table for ordering via phone. This wasn't working but not told until order all ready put together and ready to submit. Do save time and order at till.vfoid is brought to your table. Lovely 6/8 item breakfast: Sausage, Vacon, Black Pudding, Eggs, Hash Brown's. Fried Bread, Beans, Mushrooms and Tomatoes. Fruit scone was disappointing as very spongy. Coffee was nice and strong.

Lunch in the garden room was lovely. Staff very helpful and friendly. The Christmas displays are fabulous. Will definitely be back.

Was very busy on opening day. Car park nearly full at mid afternoon. Some ground works to enlarge car park will be welcome. Large interior decorations for Christmas and home decor. Other buildings adjoining for cafe restaurant large seating areas and indoor area for plants and rear area for plants and trees and shrubs. Also food court with deli. Large selection of local beers. I prefer the main site at Tong Garden Centre as it feels to offer an even greater range of products such as Weber BBQs, seating furniture, and feels more homely. Staff were pleasant on tills and keeping plants tidy. Clean toilets so 4 stars. Just landscape the remaining site and will be back. Will visit the other company accross the road with a plant nursery for a back to basics approach of plants in green houses to pick up a few next time. Well done for the investment keep up the innovation.

Very spacious and lots of beautiful Christmas decorations. Went to the garden room for lunch, food was very good and came quickly.
One thing that really stood out for me were the staff. Every member of staff who we saw from the shop floor, waiting staff and on the tills, were so friendly and pleasant. They actually looked as though they were happy to be at work very rare in this age!!
Will definitely go again

My wife and I have been there twice. Lots of parking and truly great food at the restaurant. Service from Sarah was excellent and she remembered us on our second visit today. There is also a food store which we bought lots from as was also great. We live just around the corner and will be back many times if the high level of service and food quality remains as good as we have experienced. Thank you
H. B.
Early days but looks good, especially if you are in the market for any Christmas paraphernalia

We had a fabulous experience at Tingley! Spent the morning in Grasshoppers, which my 3 year old loved. Them onto our Santa experience, again fabulous, not rushed at all and it lasted about 30 mins. We finished the day with lunch in the Garden room and a spot of shopping! All staff in the garden room were super helpful, cheery and kind and the food was great! Thanks Tingley we’ll be back.

Lovely place. Staff friendly. The food shop is a tad expensive but the cakes are delicious. I didn't have any issues when I returned a Christmas tree they just asked if it was faulty,it wasn't it was a beautiful tree just too big. Everyone should have at least one visit you won't be disappointed.
B. B.
Great place and their soft play area is wonderful. You need to plan to get a spot as almost always fully booked if you try to book on the day. Their Xmas stuff is awesome and the food and drinks are top par. Will be back

Our first visit to this garden centre. Very impressed. Lots of lovely quality items. Fed up of seeing so much tacky products elsewhere!! Quite reasonably priced .. not cheap but ok. Gorgeous pies, cakes, chutneys....all looked delicious!!
Also 10% off on a Wednesday for over 60's.
Well worth a visit. Can't wait to return.

Great soft play area
Lovely staff and lovely displays

We went for the first time over the Christmas period. It was brilliant!
Fully stocked with so much Christmas! We got lots from the store and was very good pricing too.
We did the Father Christmas experience which was lovely for the kids too.

Visited Tingley Garden Centre on Friday afternoon with my 16 month old grandson. We spent a lovely couple of hours in Grasshoppers soft play centre which has a section that is specifically designed for babies/toddlers with lots of age appropriate play equipment, Freddie loved his time here! After soft play we visited Blooms for a sandwich, the staff were so lovely and attentive and the ham sandwiches were delicious. Will definitely be visiting again very soon.
K. W.
Lovely Christmas decorations, really nice atmosphere. Friendly staff

The shop was really well set out. Very clean and the prices are on par with most places. However don’t go hungry or thirsty. The garden room had a 40 min waiting time and the kitchen, well despite from what I could see from the queue over half the tables were empty I was told that they couldn’t seat anyone. We only wanted a drink an were told that it would be a 40min wait Quite a few people left when we got that news,

Typical garden centre with the usual range of products you get in any large garden centre these days (that is, it's more like a garden, house and crafts centre, selling everything from toys and craft materials to garden furniture and a range of "luxury" edible products).
The cafés/restaurants are noisy, with limited fast food style options. They could do with installing a lower false ceiling and sound dampening to make eating there bearable. There are much better garden centre eateries all around the Wakefield/Leeds area, so they've got a lot of catching up to do - maybe as this is a newish business, they'll need time to upgrade.
Disabled parking needs to be better signed and closer to the store front. We ended up having to go down some steps and walked further than at most places to reach the doors - awful in a torrential downpour, as happened when we visited.
H. H.
Took our grandchildren aged 4 and 7 today and we were so impressed. There were plenty of staff on hand, the facilities were clean and the equipment both inside and out was excellent. We are definitely coming again. Thanks Grass Hoppers

A mini Tong on the doorstep 😊
Would like to see more "garden" and less non garden.
Went to the cafe, a bit confused which side to go to, not very clear.
I know it's all new, but please remind waiting staff not to touch the rim of the cups when bringing them to the table, thank you
K. S.
Fantastic new venture by the owners of Tong Garden Centre. Much better than Tong, brighter and lighter and much more room. Well worth a visit particularly now the Christmas stock is on show😊👍

Had a lovely browse around new Tingley garden centre. Stayed for lunch in the beautiful garden room. All staff throughout the store extremely helpful and friendly. Wendy in the garden room is a breath of fresh air. Thank you to all the hard working staff who contributed to making my first visit so enjoyable. Congratulations to you all for your hard work.
P. B.
Fantastic new garden centre has opened with an enormous “bang!” What a fabulous store crammed full of wonderful goodies, at reasonable prices. Staff are smiling and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble even though I went at quite a busy time. The Blooms restaurant is lovely with quite a varied menu, albeit a little expensive as garden centres generally are. I shall be back! 😀
N. B.
First visit since it opened- a wonderful Christmas shop with a wide selection of mid - high priced items. All good quality, non of the “tacky” stuff.
Cafe serves nice food, again a bit pricey but ok given costs nowadays. Menu could do with a wider choice of sandwiches - maybe a “Toastie” range / option.
M. R.
Only opened just over 3 weeks ago but the signs are looking very good. Still stocking when we visited but the place is going to be VERY good. Xmas displays are lovely 😍
K. D.
Very welcoming garden centre. Lots of lovely gifts as well as gardening products. Coffee shop really good with staff very attentive and friendly. Would certainly recommend this place.
J. C.
We normally go to Tong but decided to give this a go. Its only a few mins from the M62 and easy to find. There is a good size car park with lots of disabled spaces. It looks like they are making the car park even bigger.
The entrance is flat wheelchair accessible. The shop is very easy to get around with plenty of space between displays for wheelchairs. Blooms cafe feels very open and airy. They have a mix of booths and chairs. The service is very friendly and quick. Food is hot and tastes good. There are toilets inculding disabled toilets.
They sell a little bit of everything. The plants look well cared for. They have a range of gifts, kids toys, cards, books and of course at this time of year lots of Christmas stuff. The food shop bit is mostly alcohol and chocolate/sweets. Lots of gifts. They also do different pies and pastries as well as fresh cream cakes. Although the selection seemed limited but maybe that was because it was mid week. The meat fridges were empty and off so unsure if they will sell meat.
Overall if you have been to Tong then this is slightly smaller but better to visit as a lot of thought has obviously been put in when its been built. Great place to go for something to eat and a look round.
J. K.
We visited the cafe at one of the busiest times -Sunday, breakfast. It was very well organised. Really good coffee and food. The cafe Staff were all lovely friendly and on the ball; they have obviously gelled into a together team. Big shout out to Alison who looked after us at the door.
The garden centre is geared up for Christmas, as is every where! They've done a fantastic job and I could have stayed all day. (Amazing Garden Centre too!) Lovely to have a place like this so nearby. Will definitely be back!
L. N.
Me and my best friend went to the Tong on Friday, and got told about Tingley as it’s so much closer to us. So we went on the Saturday. The Christmas selection is great, the staff are really excellent, parking is good and layout 10/10
P. B.
Lots of lovely xmas decorations, and my Sons loved the trainsets and softplay
J. C.
Lovely place to visit however it's quite a bit smaller than Tong but to be honest just as nice I think Tong is a bit too big and busy at times be prepared to wait a while for your food but I'm sure its just teething problems and well worth the wait grasshoppers also very nice. All in all a great addition to our area .
J. G.
Lovely place. Plants are healthy and looking great. Food in restaurant is very good quality, fresh and tasty.
Christmas decorations are fab.
J. P.
Brand new store. Just now it's setup for Christmas, as you would expect it looks fantastic. We only had a quick look around and yes I'm impressed. And I would recommend calling in.
A. t.
A destination for retired people. Very good cafe with top fish and chips! An abundance of Christmas merchandise. Excellent car parking. Gift wrapped food. Lots of things for the home that you didn't realise you haven't got. Toys. And areas to deposit your children for a while. A massive welcome sign in the entrance. Another eating area for the posher people with more money.
If you live in Tingley it is within walking distance.
S. C.
We visited the christmas shop yesterday and it was just magical. There were decorations to suit every pocket and plenty to choose from. We spent that long looking round the christmas shop we didn't have time to look round the garden centre. We will be going back again to discover what other delights there are. There is a huge car park and it has plenty of disabeled parking. Well worth a vist if only for the christmas shop 🎅🤶
R. L.
A brand new store opening, and emphasis placed heavily on Xmas promotions. That said, fantastic display especially centre piece Xmas carousel display. Wide variety of outdoor plants and some great opening deals on planters. Great start team!
C. F.
Great new garden centre for Leeds. Same feeling as Tong garden centre. The soft play is great with a good cafe and selection of sandwiches, hot drinks and cake. The Christmas display is amazing. Loads of free parking
A. M.
Lovely place and great to get ideas but very over priced !! . We went to the cafe bloomers and had cooked breakfast but I think they were having a few teething problems and was a bit unorganised the food was ok but over cooked. I think it’s a lovely well presented garden centre but just over priced I would visit again but only for ideas and use grass hoppers.
M. S.
Love this new venture. Took my granson to soft play. Spent ages in the shop and had a really nice lunch. Been back twice since.
A. L.
Brought my Granddaughter for the first time to Grasshoppers. Bit disappointed that it is considerably smaller that the one at Tong Garden Centre Bradford. Did not venture outside as it was raining. However my Granddaughter still enjoyed herself
P. S.
Visited with parents to look at Christmas stuff they've got large display of various items, pet stuff is limited but maybe have more stuff when Xmas stuff gone. It's all chair friendly so good for disabled and lots of disabled parking bays. The cafe is nice food is too quickly served at till as qr code on tables wasn't working yet been new, food/drinks arrived a short time later they cater for GF people so my mum was pleased they also do decaf tea too. Anyone over 60 can sign up to a free membership which gives 10% off most items even in cafe but only valid on Wednesdays! Highly recommend a visit
h.
when I went there the vibes were ECSTATIC, I saw plants and the names were proper confusing but I tried my hardest, I saw JELLYCAT TEDDIES so cute the lights were rainbow and there was a massive tree covered in the lights I loved it, the food section was very gourmet, gourmet marshmallows, chocolate, brownies, you name it they had it gourmet. There was this lovely lady called Emma and she really helped me with the plant names and gave me some good information about the plants, I really appreciate her she helped me alot :) I'm useless at plants and was too scared to ask about the names, if u ever want some helpful information and a nice conversation, I recommend Emma ♡♡♡ ANYWAYS GO TO THE GARDEN CENTRE NOW
T. H. N.
Great local garden centre, plenty of Christmas decorations etc, the food hall has some amazing produce, with a reasonably priced cafe
C. M.
I took my Grandson to visit Santa in his grotto today what an amazing magical experience it was for both of us First we met Dasher who spoke to the children in a wonderful way then Comet & Rudolf the children were mesmerised then Santa he was the best Santa ever I would like to say a big Thank you to everyone involved Brilliant
R. A.
We went and had lunch. It was a good meal at a fair price. Sadly we found other items in the store quite expensive. Definately worth a second visit.
E. C.
Iv just been to have afternoon tea and can't believe the gluten free choice they gave me unbelievable so good if your celiac this is the place to go wow iv already booking for next week thank you've made my day.
C.
The garden centre is ok itself, sister of Tong garden centre, alot smaller but same things, prices. So was ok. Picked up some nice christmas things.
The cafe was something else.. . It really was dissapointing. breakfast = 1 beans on toast with mushrooms, 2 veggie english breakfasts and toast. The english was all very overcooked, sausages and the hash browns were very hard, fried too much, wasnt presented on plate good either, only 1 toast arrived, so when saying it was 2. Server took all toast away, came back with 2 plates of toast, butter on top, was liquid..... unusable.. Beans on toast consisted of loads of mushrooms on the toast and the smallest pot of beans ive ever seen on the side, not what we really ordered. Certainly the cooking quality and presentation was poor. There was loads of empty plates and tables needed clearing away. The place wasnt full or really busy. A bit shoddy service really.
We went and did shopping and then devided to have a coffe before leaving. My friend ordered a cold sandwhich abd a portion of onion rings, and the other two of us just ordered a piece of cake.... goodness what a palava getting the sandwchich and onion rings... got the cold drinks and cakes, no sign of the sandwhich and onion rings. Had to approach 3 different staff members who didnt really do anything but tell us to wait... went up to the counter area to chase it up and was even told it was nothing to do with them. !!!!. Anyway loads were chasing food they had ordered that hadnt arrived... the place wasnt full or overly busy... some 50 mins later after chasing ordered food 4 times it finally arrived...customers were getting food they orderdered well after us before us... 50 mins wait for a cold chese and chutney sandwhich with a small pot of colseslaw and a small side salad. Over cooked onion rings that should have taken 10 mins...
Has definately put us off going again any time soon. There is lots of improvements to be made here, service, standards, customer service, and qualitty, presentation of the cooking for a start..... hope it improves but cant recommend a visit from my experience at the mo.
J. D.
Not been yet but looking forward to visiting grasshoppers on the 17th. Good luck to the garden centre staff opening a new centre never easy and obviously will be teething issues. Tong is well established im sure tingley will. Just reading the reviews before I visit and im not put off it's only been open a week needs chance to thrive.
J. H.
A great Christmas section but not a great selection in the other departments. Had a lovely tea/coffee and cake but service was very slow and we had to ask to order despite it being table service.
R. E.
Lovely food in the Garden Room with great friendly service. Fabulous Christmas decorations in the store and food in the deli section.
J. M.
Expensive but expected that.A group of about 16 of us went in the cafe and waited a long time for food to arrive. I had tuna niscoise which came with a sauce which was tasteless.
c. j.
We really enjoyed walking around and seeing the Christmas setup. Some really good displays which gave us some ideas for this year.
D. E.
This is a new garden centre with plenty of parking.apparantly it is run by the same owners as Tong Garden centre.iny opinion it does not compare with Tong the layout is no where as good and the cafe cannot be compared at all shan't be visiting sgain

Similar to sister site at Tong but not as big! Too much Xmas stuff on display in proportion to standard garden centre stuff (although special Xmas event on later in the week). Early days for this new garden centre so time will tell
