Reviews of Thurlaston Garden Centre and Tea Room
S.
Lovely tea room.. fantastic wide range of food and drinks available and very good quality, with lovely customer service. They even had a doggy tea room, where you can sit with your dog and both eat.
Only suggestion, the plastic chairs are not comfortable to sit on.
Garden center, had a good range and a few surprises (e.g. euphorbia at £7 🙂).
But, a bit to be desired.
P. S.
We love this garden centre plants reasonably priced, also the dog room so bright eddy loves his visits. Forgot no hot food after 2pm only sausage rolls or quiche. Sausage roll beautiful bit expensive on cakes but will always go back love the gift shop to and sketchers.
M. L.
We had a really lovely lunch. The staff were charming and helpful. We saw people having afternoon tea - it looked awesome!
A little disappointed with the shopping experience - a bit messy, not too thrilled with the products but, each to their own, I guess.
N. W.
Very popular cafe at this garden centre location. Extensive menu covering all tastes. We were put in the back room, which was cooler due to a door being left open. Dog friendly, with a menu for dog snacks as well. Staff are polite and efficient.
G. T.
Lovely café with a dog friendly area. Really polite staff & great menu options.
R. L.
Visited here last week, got some lovely plants/roses. Prices were fair, and good selection to choose from. Great little cafe, with separate sitting area if you have a dog, which is a nice touch to cater for everyone. Also a small little play area outside.
Also visited again think we may of been served by the owners? (Mature couple, can't remember names)
Who were so friendly and helpful, very pleasant and chatty even made our little one giggle. Will be visiting again and definitely recommend a visit. 👍

The garden center is quite small, with some great things in. The little shop is great deli style sort of shop with some great hand crafted items in. The tea room is amazing, food is of good quality, staff a friendly and atmosphere is great too. There is the main restaurant area and a large section around the back of the bar area where you can eat in and take your dog, which is great for dog lovers, and great if you don't. The sandwiches and paninis are great. I has a BLT with loaded fries (which were like a meal in themselves) the first time we went. I have been since a tried a panini and ploughmans bagel both were good. The food and drink menu is extensive and suitable for children too.

Not impressed today, which is such a shame as i love this place. So mormaly this woukd get a 5 star for sure
We arrived at 2pm for some lunch, a sign was up saying stopped serving food at 2pm so only available food was cake and whatever they had in the cabinet, ie sausage rolls. Service was a bit ????? I don't know how to put it, not to offend, lovely staff but we struggled to communicate with the girls when we were asking questions. we both had a scone with cream & jam which we both felt was a bit dry, especially the bottom. I then had a mocha frappe I think it was called, not cheap £4.50 very disappointing as it was completely tastless, daughter said mum it was £4.50 take it back, i dont normaly do this, but shes right, so I did, esoecialy as things are getting so expensive. again confusing communication, eventually got another, which came all singing n dancing, darker in colour a lot more syrup and coffee beans on top of the squerty cream, bit o t t to be honest, I won't recommend them, daughter had a different flavour, which she didn't return but equally wasn't impressed with it.
Normally however this place is spot on, food good and staff are lovely, and the place is fitted out lovely, and very dog friendly. Nice outdoors area to sit out with a playground for the little ones.
So definitely deserves a visit.
The shop has lots of different products, from clothes, bags, shoes ect, to toys, ornaments, jewelry, cards ect ect. And lots of plants to buy.
J. L.
The cafe ; it was very nice, food arrived quickly the staff were very friendly. The cakes looked amazing. Haven't been for years, was worth it. Will go again.
A. H.
I visited here for afternoon tea. It was delicious. Just the right amount of everything. I loved how it was displayed - in plant pots and on a little picnic bench.
P. M.
I haven’t been here for a while. The plants etc are still good value and seem very healthy.
But now there’s a tearoom. The food is most enjoyable and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and helpful. There were plenty of customers always a good sign. The service was very quick. No queuing 👍
R. K.
Nice garden centre, great food but so very cold you need your big coat on in the restaurant,
M. T.
Can't fault it here. We go for the tearoom tbf not the garden centre. Good prices on food and friendly staff. Great milkshakes and cakes!
D. W.
Visited for the first time after hearing good things. Couldn't fault it. Lovely eating area. Lovely pot of tea, fantastic warm cheese scones, the milkshakes were really lovely too and made with fresh fruit. We will definitely be back 😃
M. W.
Been coming here for years. Lovely cafe with fantastic home made cakes and not mean on the portions! Good food as well with a good collection of shops. Garden centre well stocked and friendly staff.
J. H.
What a quirky little gem of a garden centre. Bought some gorgeous boots with 25% off. Tearoom looked lovely, will definitely visit that another time.
M. S.
Fab little garden centre with tea rooms. We had lunch server's were really lovely and polite. Food was great and well presented.
A. M.
The cafe here is definitely worth a visit and there are some worthwhile clothing and gift outlets. However, when we visited the gardening side was in a state of reorganisation and reduced stock, so it is hard to comment except to say there is good potential.
R. M.
Our first time here, but certainly not Our last. A lovely garden centre with lots to see and buy. Plus two café areas to choose from. Inside seating or outside overlooking the countryside, & with all covid restrictions in place . We had a delicious Milkshake 😋. 👍
C. D.
Lovely lunch at Thurlaston Garden Centre. Some fabulous autumnal/Halloween decorations for sale in the shop too.
Highly recommended
J. W.
We called for a look at the plants which were nice but we also called for a cuppa and a tea cake which was lovely but the people on the next table were have cream tea, we will be back 😉
P. S.
A lovely garden centre, with a variety of areas for shopping. Nice cafe, wide selection of meals and tempting cakes 🎂 🥮 🍥
A. W.
The breakfast at the tea room was lovely. Will definitely be going back to try the cakes and afternoon teas.
K. W.
Nice garden centre with a nice restaurant but be prepared to wait to be served
s. l.
Went for food at the tea room, brilliant food and services. Dog area and even dog choices on the menu 😊 well worth a visit
L. C. (.
A small garden centre, presently being upgraded. Good choice of plants & flowers at reasonable prices. A small shop with the usual goods.
Tasty food but a long wait & pleasant but very slow service.
A great play area with a large sandpit & slide. Children need to be supervised but there are deck chairs aplenty & lots of picnic tables to observe from.
The paths are uneven which makes pushing trollies awkward.
Toilets are limited so queues are likely.
Over all a pleasant way to spend a few hours in fine weather.
J. C.
Had a fantastically repaired afternoon tea for my sister's birthday here and it was brilliant! They catered really well for vegetarians and a fussy eater in our group. The garden centre had a lot of lovely and interesting plants though they seemed a little on the expensive side.
L. G.
Fantastic Cream tea that exceeded our expectations. Lovely staff, great venue, beautiful decor and presentation and tasty food. What more could you want? 🥰Well there is also the gift shop, and a fab garden centre. Perfect. Thank you.
T. L.
Great food. Great menu. Friendly staff. Amazing cakes. Enough said.
P. W.
Plants are really healthy and good value for money. The inside is a bit cramped to get round(my wife is on a mobility scooter) but there is a good variety of non-plant items to browse. The restaurant was quite full and we had to wait a disappointing 40 minutes for our food to arrive by which time we had drunk our drinks to stop them going cold and we like to have a drink with our food.
That said the food was excellent, served fresh we had a blue burger, which I am still full from, which was unctuous and delicious, a brie and cranberry toastie with a generous salad, which was oozing with content and thoroughly enjoyed, a cheese burger which again was big and hot and flavoursome according to our grandson who is a burger expert and a cheese and ham sandwich on white with another generous salad. I'm told the ham and cheese were delicious and the salad dressing really good.
Had we had room for dessert there were some delicious cakes going out around us huge portions and many a box being called for to take home at least half of it. There are also a selection of hot puddings. Was it worth the wait, I would say so but still only a 4 as I think the waiting time could be improved.
K. L.
Went for afternoon tea very very nice will certainly go again. Plants very good at competitive prices
L. B.
Lovely little garden centre! Nice variety of plants at good prices and they all look healthy. Plenty of gifts and clothing and nic-nacs too. Cafe was well organised in terms of table service and staff carry a card reader each so you can pay at the table at the time of ordering which seems efficient. Cafe has a varied menu, plenty of food and drink choices including a marvellous selection of cakes and milkshakes! Neither me, my husband or our daughter could eat all of our cake as the slices are huge! The waitress gave us recyclable boxes to take the rest of our cake home. We'll definitely be returning to this lovely place.
E. K.
They were super busy and all of the tables were filled with customers when we arrived.
Our waitress took our order and returned a few minutes later to say they had run out of chips and backed potatoes which encouraged us to change our order to toasted sandwiches and a chicken burger.
Our food was delivered in part, 40 minutes later and the missing toasty, five minutes after that after some confusion about what we'd ordered.
We needed to remind the waitress about our drinks which had still not appeared an hour after ordering them.
The toasted sandwiches were good and hit the spot but the chicken burger was no better than a frozen supermarket own brand and fairly disappointing.
The lack of some menu items could be excused but the dirty cutlery we'd been given to use couldn't.
I appreciate the staff were rushed off their feet but expected standards had dropped significantly.
V. T.
Went today, lots and lots of plants to choose from, great prices. Lovely cafe.
S. L.
This Garden Centre is a hidden gem. I paid my first visit yesterday, and will undoubtedly return for future visits. The prices of the plants are extremely reasonable, with a vast amount of choice. The garden centre is set within beautiful countryside; and boasts a popular tea room & well stocked gift shop. One star was lost, as the garden centre itself is somewhat in disarray, presumably due to renovations; however this will not deter me from returning.
M. B.
Visited before but need to visit more as selection of cakes is impressive and well presented.
Selection of Christmas drinks very impressive some with alcohol.
Cakes very well presented and HUGE..although one does pay for this privilege.
Warm and staff friendly and helpful
Spiced warm apple drink very good.
Selection of gifts in garden centre unusual and good to browse and Potter.
Fruit and vege stall good variety too.
At present lots of different Christmas trees.
Be aware if not a dog person dogs are welcome although in their own cafe with owners!!
P. P.
Great place, their cakes are amazing and you get a generous slice. I had breakfast with a friend and it was delicious, well cooked and good value. Although it got very busy we never felt rushed.
A. A.
I've visited the tea rooms on several occasions for breakfast and will continue to do so in the future. However, the breakfasts always arrive on cold plates. Often by the time the breakfasts have arrived at the table they're cold.
The presentation and the taste are spot on and the staff are fantastic but please warm the plates as a cold brekkie can ruin the experience.
Sorry for moaning.
j. s.
Afternoon tea was A-maz-ing. Service fabulous 👌 👏 thank you
R. W.
First time of trying the cafe, coffee was warm and one of the two items ordered was forgotten so not the best first time there unfortunately 😕
S. C.
Lovely place, very friendly, dogs welcome in cafe, garden centre has a large variety of plants, will definitely come again
S. T.
Lovely garden centre, great food abd friendly staff
G. C.
We had a lovely afternoon tea. Plenty to eat and drink. Beautiful setting with lovely views. Would defiantly recommend 😊
M. B.
Great garden centre with a huge selection of plants at low prices. Best bit is the cafe! It was sunny so we sat in the outside seating area. There is a wide selection of food and beautifully presented. The cheeseburger was one of the best I've had anywhere! Well worth a visit.
S. G.
Thank you to your wonderful staff for your outstanding customer service yesterday when I arrived for a very early breakfast with my friend. Your care, concern and compassion alongside your usual friendliness, professionalism and wonderful food will always be remembered. Merry Christmas!
M. F.
Excellent place to visit for gilts etc, along with a fantastic restaurant.
J. D.
Went with my dog to the tea rooms at Thurlaston Garden Centre. Very dog Friendly. There is a lovely indoor seating area that's specifically for those with dogs. Water bowls provided and a few treats. They also have a doggy menu and I treated my fury friend to the Doggy Afternoon Tea. It was so cute and went down very well
C. G.
Arrived at garden centre . The lady from gift shop was very helpful with getting in with wheelchair and dog . Dog room was very hot and so many flies in there due to bins near door that was open . Need to keep on top of cleaning down table . Food was beautiful . Shame the experience wasn't better due to poor management!!!! Birthday treat but wasn't a treat 😪
P. M.
lovely place..excellent food...we had a soup ...but food always very good..homemade cakes are yummy.
R. W.
Interesting, plants could do with some care. Pleasant cipa on the csfe
V. P.
Great place.
Genuine variety of reasonably priced plants. The opposite of the 'Is that it?' in most garden centres.
Edit: Everything we bought has proven robust/vigorous. Not the best of seasons this year, but all these plants got a great start in life. Really good quality stuff.
S. L.
Really nice garden centre and cafe we had a lovely meal plenty of choice
C. K.
Garden Centre has a lovely selection of plants we've bought many from here perrinals and annuals and they've lasted than other places visited. We would say that this is possibly one of the best in Leicester. The cafe is nice clean and the staff are very friendly.
J. W.
Excellent, the plants nice and healthy with a great choice. We enjoyed a lovely coffee along with a very tasty snack. This garden centre falls into the category of MUST VISIT. Well done to all concerned and especially the very friendly staff!!!
C. T.
Easy to find and park. Plants look healthy and well cared for reasonable prices too. The cafe was lovely you can sit in or outside. Inside has air conditioning and service to the table. Refreshments and scone excellent. Staff friendly and efficient. Thank you for a lovely, relaxing couple of hours. 👍😁
V. G.
We have visited a few times and we do enjoy it, but sometimes the staff are so slow. When waiting to be seated three members of staff saw us and walked the other way and then one went and stood on her phone behind the counter. Not great. The place wasn't even busy.
S. O.
Lovely little family garden centre. All very friendly staff. Great play area for children on a nice day. Dogs are more than welcome. Even do a doggy tea in the cafe for your furry friend and to top it off even have a dog poo area for your dog to do it's business. Never seen that before. Cafe food is excellent. Sometimes have to queue for ages for food which is the only drawback when your not very good on your legs. But apart from that we'll worth a visit. I only came across it 6 months ago and go now to get all my plants. Nice to support a family rather than these huge chains. 😊
L. T.
Love this garden centre and especially the shop & cafe Just that on my visit recently I didn't realise the cafe closes for food Other than cake tea at 2pm.
M. H.
Good garden centre with a lovely cafe with a good food choices & lovely cakes. Also has a dog friendly area in the cafe.
T. M.
Visited this place 21.11.21, great garden centre an shop. Also had a drink and cake in their lovely tea room. They have loads of real Christmas 🎄 at very reasonable prices
S. E.
Very impressed with the revamp that has been done. Tearoom is light and tastefully decorated. The food and drink lovely and reasonably priced. The gift section is shaping up nicely and there is quite a good selection of plants for their first year. The staff in all areas were very friendly and polite and I will certainly be visiting again.
S. S.
Usually I'd give the tea rooms 5 stars BUT on this occasion I'd only rate it 1, I ordered the soup assuming it would be home made WRONG ! It was clearly out of a tin Minestrone, really and to charge £5.50 for it is OUTRAGEOUS, I left a good half of it too, of course we will return but I'll be avoiding the tinned soup for sure !!!😪
J. W.
Cakes in the cafe are amazing, the gifts and plants are excellent. Enjoyable visit.
M. F.
Lovely cafe. Good service and biggest slice of lemon meringue I have ever had. Well worth a visit for the choice of wonderful cakes
V. W.
Sat indoors, unfortunately the aircon couldn't handle the heat, so ended up outside! Apart from slight mix up on drinks order, staff were warm and friendly. The food was delicious and they catered for me as I am Coeliac
A. T.
Lovely Garden Centre outside the city, surrounded by fields and lovely countryside.
Very well managed, plants in excellent condition, great variety and good prices.
There is a really good tea shop with indoor or outdoor seating. Staff are extremely helpful. Plenty of parking.
s. b.
Delicious cheesecake - food yummy here
C. W.
Went with family and dog to Thurlaston garden centre. What a delightful place. Dogs are allowed. Lovely food. Quaint cutlery and crockery. Cakes are to die for. They have a menu for dogs or if you prefer simply an are with fresh water and treats for free. Cream teas served if booked 24hr so in advance. Very crowded tea rooms. Little gift shop attached. Nice selection of gifts. Nice prices. Didn't get to see the garden centre as it was very windy when we went. Highly recommended going.
s. a.
Went there recently but not the first time for breakfast and browse. Great shop and never short of a different present for someone.
Breakfast was well worth the visit. Full English as well as me.
J. T.
Lovely first visit to this brilliant garden centre and cafe. Great to have a full vegan menu. Just one suggestion - a dairy free dessert/ice-cream would be perfect. Great play area. Dog friendly which is always good! Thank you.
M. L.
Just popped in for a coffee today, The Gardeners Rest tearoom is delightful, light and airy. The menu looks good - wish that I could have had the chance to sample 'The Gardeners Breakfast'. Next time I am sure that I will! Also a nice selection of homemade cakes, but which to choose?
They also have up and coming entertainment events that are inclusive of a meal that are bookable in advance. On top of all of this, its a very good small garden centre, all healthy stock, and an excellent choice at good prices. Well stocked clothing and fancy goods area, something for everybody, literally. Well worth a visit...
J. R.
Fantastic food, very popular location, delays possible at busy times, but definitely worth the wait.
Great staff
M. W.
Great breakfast and really good service
D. W.
Having regularly stopped here when only takeaway was available a cup of tea served in a large takeaway cup costing £2.20. However I was surprised on Friday when I went for lunch as I was served a cup of tea in a very small mug half the size of the takeaway one and charged £2.20. I appreciate the need to recoup losses from lockdown but this was just greedy. Unfortunately I won’t be gong again and will tell all my cycling friends to avoid it to.
M. o. a. S. f.
Really lovely food, warm, friendly environment, we had a super lunch!
c. b.
Fantastic lunch, amazing burgers, jacket spuds and seafood salad was eaten unfortunately we were that full we couldn't eat a deserts which looked absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend to everyone. 5 Star rating xxx
S. W. (.
Nice little Garden centre but the tea room is exceptionally good. It does get very busy though so be prepared to wait for a table.
S. F.
Went to the tea Room with our dog for refreshments. Made very welcome. A fabulous area set out just for owners with dogs. Dog treats, water and doggy menus. Lots of fuss for our Golden Doodle also. Cream tea was divine. Will definitely be back x
R. G.
Great little place, has really built itself up over the last few years. Plants have always been really good from here. There is also a wide range of gifts. The tea room is booming. The sausage rolls are one of the best I’ve had. Well worth a visit
J. W.
My first time here and went for lunch, wow! Food was delicious, staff are so friendly and they also welcome doggies. Will definitely return!
t. R.
A lovely little garden centre with a brilliant tea room! Will definitely be coming back.
D. G.
First time visitor to the garden centre and gardeners rest cafe, small but popular place, good selection of plants and promoting a few different independent concessions in shopping area. Nice cafe with good home cooked food, friendly service throughout.
I'd perhaps prefer a few real plants and flowers dotted in cafe instead of all the artificial. Would happily recommend based on this first visit though.
D. S.
Lovely garden centre to visit. Well looked after plants and lots of choice. Brilliant tearoom serving outdoors within covid rules. Amazing food and great value for money.
D. L.
Lovely staff and food; beautifully presented afternoon tea.
L. C.
So cute, lovely food and really reasonably priced. The food includes home made scotch eggs and sausage rolls and there's always a selection of mouth watering cakes to choose from. There's a little dog corner for people to bring their furry friends too. Plus the shop has loads of beautiful things, lots of gifts and some gorgeous wooden childrens toys. Highly recommended
C. H.
This is a superb garden centre. The staff are very knowledgeable and Paul, the owner, is very friendly and always prepared to help and advise. I got some lovely winter bedding plants from here. Would definitely recommend.
N. B.
Amazing place to visit, can't say enough nice things about it! Beautiful food, nice setting, helpful and extremely friendly staff (took time to chat to us and made a real effort to make us feel welcome) and overall a lovely little place to spend time at. Definitely worth a visit, you won't be disappointed at all!
👍🏻😁💖☕🍰🥪🍟
S. M.
The food is lovely, its just that we had to wait so long it took the shine off a bit. They did say when we arrived there would be a bit of a wait though, so we were aware. I just didn't expect such a wait! We shall try again when its not a bank holiday!
D. G.
Tea rooms were fantastic. Food was amazing. Slightly pricier than some other garden centre cafes but totally worth it. Friendly staff and very clean. well organised for social distancing.
D. L.
Nice garden centre with a good cafe attached too
A. C.
Great dog cafe. They have a doggy menu including doggy afternoon tea. Owner very help and freindly
C. P.
Great quality plants and nice tea room lovely food and cakes I just don't understand why they stop serving hot food at 3 o'clock and other food at 4 o'clock?
P. H.
Just before Christmas we booked for a Christmas dinner, there were six of us, we all thoroughly enjoyed it, food was great, waitresses were efficient and cheerful. Would recommend and hope to book next year. Love going to Thurlaston Garden Centre if only for a coffee, dogs are welcome and get spoiled.
V. B.
I have family came down from Scotland took them their and they loved it you gave us a warm welcome and a lovely meal when they come back down again they would visit you again you have lovely and friendly staff keep up with the good work and say thanks to your staff from Helenbrough Scotland
v. s.
Much more than a garden centre, really interesting clothes - some excellent bargains and quirky gifts.
N. C.
The centre has come on so much, and the cafe is nice. However, just a couple of small points. When at the cutlery station today, we struggled to find many knives/forks that were clean. Also both my son and I had what looked like a little dark hair on our white plates. Prices have crept up too.
J. S.
Really nice place lovely food really lovely staff will go again and have mentioned it to lots of people
M. F.
Bigger than you think from the front view and perfect for a summer's day lunch etc. Good garden centre and well worth a visit, lots of subsidiary little areas with a range of items not just garden supplies.
A. S.
Really sweet place with loads of little gift bits, clothes and a really great cafe inside with scrummy cakes in a lovely atmosphere. One of my favourite local coffee shops! And perfect for a bit of garden centre shopping too, of course.
L. G.
Myself and my best friend Diane love this place and visit frequently. This year we have attended the special mystery evening, on October 31st. We thoughrouly enjoyed the whole experience, even though we chose the wrong culprit? 😀
We are looking forward to our Christmas meal on 22nd December
The manageress and all the staff are brilliant. They make everyone feel welcome and the food is freshly cooked and delicious. It has a very happy atmosphere.
Daphne and Lucinda (the Victorian ladies) ha-ha Xx

Recommended so decided to drop in as k area. My goodness what a transformation from the last time we went. Under new ownership. Prices reasonable. Fantastic display of pansies. Lovely tea room. Work still in progress. Well worth the visit
J. T.
Cling to your warm plates for this place is bitterly cold in autumn. I don’t even want to think about the frostbite that comes with winter. In general, the mains and the decor are the foundations this establishment balances on. A word of warning, this place is not one for puddings so I would strongly advise again. On the flip side, Thurlaston Garden Centre often hosts a variety of events that seems to take interest by the public which I am also interested in.
M. P.
Outdoor seating for food. Excellent selection of cakes. On site greengrocers selling fruit, veg and dairy products. Varied choice of plants and shrubs.
R. G.
Really good place to buy flowers at a good price, the food there is amazing and friendly staff. Only given 4 star as there hardware area like gloves and secateurs etc is not very well stocked or organised.
T. A.
I have visited the tearooms many times and always enjoy a mooch around the giftshop and then a lbreakfast, lunch or cake. We recently wanted somewhere not too far away to take my 85 year old mother in law for one of her first trips out following a long period of lock down. It was also my 19 yr old daughters birthday. She had just had her first car and wanted to drive on her first trip out so we were all happy and looking forward to our trip. I am sorry to say i was disappointed. Despite it not being busy at all we were seated around in the dog house which is decorated nicely but we were alone and out of the way and it was very hot. We waited a while to be served. My lovely mother in law is currently being tested for dementia and is easily confused I took time to help her decide what she would like to eat. It was 11 o'clock and my daughter and i had selected from the breakfast menu. My mother in law decided on an omlete. When we ordered we were told my mother in law could not have an omlete as not on the breakfast menu. I queried this and the young girl went to check but came back and confirmed that if she wanted to order omlette she would not get served it until after 11.30 but my daughter and myself would get ours now. As ours were on breakfast section but omlette wasnt. We then had to help my mother in law choose something else. The young girl appeared to have no awareness of my confused mother in law. We also ordered a pot of tea for two which came in two paper cups with no dish/spare cup for teabags. We fished them out and had to leave them on the table mopping up the spills with our napkins. We also had plastic cutley to eat our breakfast. I have eaten out a few times now and i appreciate it can be a different experience but in other venues have still had crockery and cutlery but i could almost forgive sitting at a table with soggy tea bags pools of tea and trying not to snap the cutlery but the whole experience with the lack of understanding and awareness just spoilt our experience. I did not say anything at the time as I was trying to make the best of the situation and did not want to cause further anxiety for mother i law or spoil daighters birthday by raising negative issues and at least the food was good .
S. I.
Had a great lunch here in The Gardner's Rest All made to order and delicious. Brilliant selection of cakes and desserts - very hard to resist. Large stock of plants and shrubs in healthy condition
J. H.
Very nice family run Garden Centre and Tea rooms. Good quality plants at reasonable prices. The tea shop is just brilliant with home made cakes. This place is an absolute jewel...worth a little D-tour!
L. M.
I love the food at Thurlaston Garden Centre, my friend and I have been a few times now, and really love the homemade menu. The food is well presented and beautifully cooked. Would highly recommend this garden centre if your passing.
K. S.
Food that was available was good but cafe facilities below average
C. A.
The staff are very helpful and the seasonal veg is always good, Christmas trees are amongst the best cut trees we have seen.
M. B.
Love this place. The tearoom is wonderful, always a warm welcome and the food is fabulous. Great gift area full of unusual buts for all budgets and the garden centre itself is great value and quality.
M. F.
Very friendly helpful staff, a bit of everything here, plants, fruit veg, clothing, house items like candles, smellies ect, great cafe too with amazing cakes!😋

Edited june 2018-*
I visited here last summer (2017) and was so disappointed!!! Plants weren't the best and so we about turned and left without looking at the rest. Heard through the grapevine it was under new people. So my friend and I decided to go and have a look. And WOW!!! Am I glad I made the drive out there! Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! Good quality plants at irresistible prices! *Also sports a fruit and vegetable stall, a hair salon , a florist and a gift shop- they all lead to what everyone raves is a decent cafe for a lovely cuppa and a slice of cake! However when we visted lately I took my mother for her birthday outing- the lady serving at the cafe was very lax and was to busy discussing her dead relative then she was actually serving her customers that was by the by gradually building up and looking v uncomfortable, esp as it was a very hot day and the cafe is located in what looks like an old greenhouse!!! I was so concerned about my 75 year old mother passing out from the heat, I decided I couldn't wait to be acknowledged by the lady "serving" at the cafe and we left disappointed... So I shall purely be using the plant nursery side of it in future!
But, its definitely worth a trip to see for yourselves, just TC if its a warm day!

Enjoyable afternoon tea with friendly staff. Visited today but it was soooo cold. After an hour had to put our coats on. Really need some heaters. Can't imagine evening entertainment there but it seems popular.
M. B.
Wonderful, friendly, family run garden centre. Great tea room with large selection of meals and cakes.
Great to have you guys back.
C. M.
Went to this Garden Centre just after the easing of lockdown in mid May.
What a joy! No queueing, no hassle, great plants, good prices and excellent customer service.
This will definitely be my go-to Garden Centre from now on.
G. B.

Food was good and we didn't have to wait long for it. Service was good and they were friendly the only thing it was a bit chilly there.
H. P.
Nice small and friendly tearoom with good outdoor area for when the decent weather arrives.
R. H.
What a surprise to arrive and find the car park had been extended to address the growth in customers. Yes the word is definately out on Thurlaston tea rooms and garden centre. Although the tea room was busy, the staff were well up for the challenge. Very happy to highly recommend the tea rooms but please leave a table for my wife and l. ...Roy Harlow.
M. F.
Love this little place, can get busy at lunch times, it's popular with the 'grey and beige brigade'.
j. c.

D. D.
Nice garden centre, plenty to look at fancy goods and plants, staff excellent, I like a proper meal when I go to these places, but only do snacks, jacket potatoes etc, the cafe looks nice and if you are happy with a light snack, cup of tea or coffee and a cake would be excellent.
A. B.
Saturday my husband and I went to get our Christmas tree and wreaths the whole experience was fabulous the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble,in these unusual times it made me so emotional and made me feel normal for abit even though they are following the covid guide lines well done all and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you
