Reviews of Whisby Garden Centre
S. G.
Garden center with several internal shops on site. The cafe is situated next to the lakes which was a lovely setting with the trees and water birds. We had a cherry scone with our drinks sat outside as it was a lovely day ,service was prompt and our drinks were brought out to us. We had a wander around part of the lake there is an animal farm bit and play area for kids but seeing as there was just him and me we didn't go in . Sells water features, outdoor furniture, pet stuff ,fancy goods, composts etc. Has Cotton Traders, The Works and Maiden Aquatics too. If I'm honest the plants looked a little tired but it was a hot day so probably needed a good drink. The loos are next to the cafe outside, not sure if these are the only ones but 1 was out of order so that left only 2 as look would have it wasn't busy😄
E. S.
The kids loved it. The tickets are cheap and worth the experience. Buy a pack of animal food at the shop for the animals.
Alot to do for the kids, there is a lake, outdoor play park for the kids and also an indoor play area.
They also have an aquarium shop.
K. S.
A lovely afternoon out. Bought some lovely plants and the staff were very helpful in helping us find what we needed. The animal park is lovely too.
A. H.
other than being out of animal feed (Saturday lunchtime) which was abit disappointing, everything was lovely. kids had fun, animals are kept very well and all seem happy. would come again.
B. J.
Took my little Granddaughter here on Saturday. There was plenty to do. Lots of animals to feed. Indoor soft play area. Gift shops. Cafe. Worth a visit.
t.
Lovely place, pleasant balance of garden centre and cafe by the lake. Nice to have a cuppa and a bite for lunch before meandering around. Good selection of food, plenty of cake. Nice ice cream too from the parlour. Nice to site and relax by the lake in the sunshine. Revisited and enjoyed some pleasant breakfast.
R. M.
A large selection of plants, garden decoration and design. Cafe next to the bird lake is a nice place to grab a coffee with friends. Interior items, pet store, books, crafts and clothing
D. I.
Found this new Garden centre, looks like well used place to visit. Plants very good , cafe well used and looking out over a lake. And a few outlet to shop at
D. N.
To be honest we didn't go to buy plants. This is an ideal half way venue to meet family. 2 toddlers found lots to keep them entertained. Plenty of indoor and outdoor play, animals to inspect and room to run. The restaurant served us well with breakfasts in the morning and tea and cake in the afternoon.
Certainly nothing to complain about!
C. W.
Very nice cream cheese scone. Excellent service. We sat by the lake, feeding the ducks in the spring sunshine. Lovely place to relax and see the animals.
C. L.
Great place to kill a few hours on a weekend. Garden centre is nice and the gardens and plus animal park is good as there are a variety of animals to see and the prices are reasonable.
Indoor and outdoor play areas.
Indoor play area get very overcrowded, and is far too warm - could benefit from air conditioning and regular cleaning.
Outdoor play area is very good and varied including having a sand pit.
K. M.
Great place, staff and breakfast. From plants too pants, good variety of clothing and footwear, as well as a good variety of garden furniture and of course plants and shrubs. Large ponds too sit around and enjoy a drink or brekkie, also The Works located on site, activities for the kids too enjoy too, plus goats, pigs, deer and peacocks. Definitely worth a visit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍
A. E.
Lots to do here for all ages. Always a pleasure to visiting
G.
More down to earth than some garden centres, good selection of plants and nick nacks. A decent Cotton Traders outlet with plenty of bargains, the Works outlet ( jigsaw heaven) Maidenhead Aquatics and first rate cafe. Well worth a visit and enjoy some time out. Other interesting things to see, recommended 👌
S.
Its a long time since we went to Whisby Garden Centre, we decided to go there for dinner today. We had steak pie and the Thai fishcakes. Very good food. My only down point was it didn't say anywhere that it was table service and I tried to go to counter to order. We had lovely walk around and next time will go and see the animals. The Works shop in there is fab.
M. W.
I was one of several volunteers who assisted residents from a local Home to enjoy their visit to Whisby Tea Room. The staff were pleasant, helpful and very understanding. Taking individual orders (for payment purposes) was no problem for the young lass who served us.

First time visiting today and me and my daughter had a great time!! We'll be back soon.

Review purely on the animal park and play area
Animal park is tired and looks like it hasn't been upgraded since I first took my eldest about 8yrs ago. Half the pens are overgrown or full of chickens, outside play area is the same, old and tired.
Indoor soft play looks relatively new with a cafe and food and what most of the customers probably go here for.
Daughter enjoyed it, fed some goats, played in sand and probably what's expected for the price.
M. W.
Children's play spaces should not charge adults for entry. This place does. It's the reason I won't give more than 3 stars. Granted, our children had fun in the indoor and outdoor play spaces while we adults sat around watching/chatting and buying drinks from their cafe. Children won't come by themselves, an adult has to bring them. The adult is likely to patronise your cafe and even if they don't, won't be using your play facilities so why charge an entry fee for them?
S. W.
Brought the grandchildren here. Great day out. Value for money too.
b. g.
Lakeside cafe was disappointing. Homemade steak pie was 'tinned' stew meat with a ready made pastry on top, not a bit like they used to be. 'Potting shed' dish should have had new potatoes on but didn't. No one asked if food was okay, it seems that you've already paid up front so they're not bothered.
A. D.
We had a birthday party there. We enjoyed every second of it. Our host Helen has been very helpful. Definitely recommend!
M. H.
Great place, plenty to keep little ones, and grandparents, amused!
Very good cafe, with kids meals judged just right! Well done all!!
T. R.
A great, cheap day out with the kids. Lots of lovely animals to watch and feed, a really big sand pit, zip wire and park. The only disappointment was that the water table still had no water. In fact, we've been visiting this place for years now and not once have I seen the water table working. The children would have loved it today with such hot and sunny weather. We did have a lovely ice cream though and found some shade to sit in whilst the kids played 👍👌
J. H.
The garden centre was more Dobbies than independent in style which I wasn’t a fan of and seemed very tired and unkempt - redemption did come in the form of the cats lounging around the place though. Restaurant was ok but let down by a snippy waitress and the dead flower boxes - never a good sign at a garden centre.
P. G.
A medium sized gardening centre with other businesses also trading from their site. Children play area, a very small animal area, a large fishing lake, though sometimes fishing isn't allowed. A stationary shop, a aquarium shop and a clothes shop as well. The ice-cream parlor is adjoined to the cafe and overlooks the lake. Plants and ornaments are not the dearest, but are not the cheapest you can find locally either. Staff seem to be of a high turnover in the garden centre. The carpark in alway very busy and therefore must be doing something right!!
L. O.
Beautiful garden Centre lots to offer, plants clothing fun for children of all ages, nice Cafe with friendly staff and playful fun wildlife all around. The ducks were super entered they walked around with my daughter. She really enjoyed it!
E. J.
Good selection of goods and a lovely cafe with helpful staff.
R. P.
Went for a day out with my family here, my young niece loved all the animals! Never been before so didn't know what to expect but we really enjoyed ourselves. As well as the Garden Centre (which includes a few shops such as The Works), there is a big indoor play area, outdoor area, animal centre, duck ponds, and a couple of cafes. The indoor play area and cafe is kept very clean and the outdoor area included a small go-kart track, large sand pit with obstacle course, two different woodchipped play areas, and a zip line. Feed is also available to give to the animals. Definitely worth a visit!
G. P. (.
Nice place food was good to
C. J.
Always love visiting here, the cafe is great with lovely food, there's ducks and swans with a small holding of animals to entertain the children (when not in lockdown) and of course a huge selection of plants+ a couple of other shops attached to enjoy could almost, well you could spend a whole day there
A. B.
Very good animal centre, very cheap fun for the kids and the works is very reasonable, food is OK.
J. S.
Fantastic place lots to see beautiful selection of plants and flowers. Nice riverside cafe and children's play area. Also lots of sweet animals to see x
M. S.
We love this garden centre and are regular visitors. Excellent plant section and there is a fish shop and a Works as well. Cafe food available too
K. S.
the first time I've visited..i was amazed .this place is a must ..the grounds and the lay out are perfectly placed and the cafe food etc i would highly recommend with the view over the lake ..don't take my word for it pay a visit I'm sure you'll not be disappointed
L. L.
Been there today with my youngest daughter for a mother's day treat. Lovely place with beautiful plants. Wanted to come home with more then I did.
Fabulous salted caramel cake and tea to finish it off
W. G.
Very good garden centre. Nice plants , look healthy. Love the chickens & ducks roaming about , lovely ice cream sold in cafe 😋. Be great when its fully opened .
P. S.
Excellent selection of plants - indoor and outdoor. The Works outlet. Clothing and garden furniture. Not the most sophisticated garden centre but worth a visit for the cafe (seating by the lake) and to see the various animals.
J. T.
It's a nice place to visit, with The works inside, a clothing store, a great plant and garden centre. Some beautiful art work created from metal tools, car parts etc. Excellent cafe, a lake to walk around some animals to look around, chickens, geese, wallaby donkeys, but the pig looked a bit sad.
D. C.
Brilliant place to bring young children. Some lovely animals, and a bug outdoor park and a nice little indoor soft play area. My 2 and 4year old love it
T. N.
Strange parking where the disabled spaces are further away than the able bodied parking.
Nice cafe good coffee and cake.
Lovely plants
N. S.
Excelent east midland classic car show also this i understand is a yearly event well done whisby garden centre
J. R.
What a little gem! I'm from Essex and visiting friends in Lincoln - staying in a nearby hotel with an eight-year-old - and it was a surprise and a delight to find such a beautiful garden centre with an array of shops inside, as well as the Lakeside Café and the outside play area and the animals. My daughter was in raptures at being able to see the deer and wallabies close up, and the pygmy goats with their kids were adorable. The donkeys and the alpaca were very friendly, coming right across the field to say hello, and the pigs were huge!!! There were signs throughout the outside area giving information about the various different species you could see and my daughter was thoroughly enjoying learning about new and different species - especially when there were so many that we don't see regularly at home. The staff were all very friendly and helpful too. I can't recommend this place enough!!! Thank you so much 😁
S. R.
Always enjoy a little trip to whisby garden centre. Animals, the works, and fish. It's a cheap trip out with the kids! Oh and soft play!
K. T.
Really lovely place. Reasonably priced. Good service and selection in the cafe. Pleasant sat outside with the lake by the side.
G. H.
Excellent garden centre. Masses of intriguing items in the shop. Also an extensive range of plants. The meal in the cafe was great.
j. o.
We enjoyed the stores inside especially the Aquatic Centre, clothes, plants, and more. The cafe let it down the food was not good at all. Such a shame as it used to be very good. Will say the scones were good and fresh.
s. t.
Lovely garden centre that also has various other shops on site too such as a butchers, shabby chic furniture and ornaments, aquarium centre , ice cream shop, bon Marche, cotton trading and cafe by some very scenic lakes. It's a very family orientated place and every one is welcome. Including dogs. Advance notice, there are a few cats that live on site and two chickens that potter around too so keep your dog on the Lead just in case!! The animals there are friendly. There are lakes by the cafe where you can feed the ducks and the fish, the fish are carp and are always waiting for you, they are lovely to see!! Food is available at 50p a bag or 5 for £2 from the garden centre.
Connected to the garden centre is a small animal farm where you can for a few quid go and see the animals there. There is a loyalty card to get stamped for your visits for the cafe, and the animal area. The animal section is OK and ideal for younger kids as they have a big sand pit play area, park and a newly built play barn. Animal wise there are birds, chickens, pigs, deer, wallabies, goats and more.
Staff are always polite and friendly.
M. B.
As a garden centre, it's really good.
It has a play area for very small children below the age of 4, again, really good, if you're willing to pay.
Blyton ice cream served - extra kudos, although, supplying "Daisy Maid" produce from Skellingthorpe could've supported a local business, in which both businesses could've promoted each other. Missed a trick there.
The animal section seems to have depleted. The price has gone right up to see them, but the bird aviaries, rabbits, guinea pigs etc seem to have disappeared, as have the bags of food to feed them. Some livestock need some serious grooming, and also require some tlc in our opinion.
Overall, it's till a very popular place amongst the public, there's a great selection of plants and garden essentials available.
Some furniture and home accessories are also available as you come into the store, but the pricing has been applied with corporate greed, a great sense of humour and massive optimism. We was shocked and humoured by this. However, we still enjoyed our overall experience.
a. L.
Nice little independent garden centre, there are other shops within too to increase choice. Prices are average for plants and a reasonable range for size of shop.
J. B.
Brilliant! Good value and well organised. We had a birthday party here and it was great for children and adukts alike.
D. P.
I only had the time to see some of what this garden centre has to offer
It seems well stocked for outdoor plants and had The Works, Cotton Traders and other childrens toys and pet toys etc . It seems popular with parents with children.
I was a bit disappointed with the limited indoor plant selection however, I did get two nice indoor plant pots at a reasonable price. Definitely worth another visit. You need plenty iof time to see all they have to offer.
N.
Has a massive variety of plants, flowers, fruit and veg. Not been to the cafe yet will update after my next visit...
R. B.
We visited the tea rooms and didn't really visit the other shopping experiences on the site so can't comment on those. The tea room serves excellent food at very good prices. The service is pretty good too, I'd give the tea rooms on their own 5 stars but the rest of the garden centre isn't up to much...
R. W.
Nice place to rest and relax 🙂
G. M.
What a positive little gem, the shopping was great, some bargains in Cotton Traders and had lunch by the lake side in the sunshine, definitely recommend
H. R.
This is a fab place for kids! It has a massive park with lots of things for the kids to play on, a soft play and farm animals! It only cost around £4 for kids and £2 for adults but worth it
C. M.
Lovely place for families. Lovely food & brill farm & play area for children reasonably priced
D. C.
Fantastic place with lots of interesting things to look at , nice cafe with outdoor seating round a lake , nice place to visit .
M. H.
Good shopping experience in a lovely setting. Great value for money and a lovely reasonably priced cafe.
R. G.
Nice stop for a cafe. Unfortunately spoilt by being understaffed, unorganized and very long waits at lunch time. Only recommended if you have a couple of hours to spare.
C. S.
Fantastic place for families to come and has been for decades. Lots of things to see and do. Great food in the cafe, wide variety of well cared for animals, brilliant indoor/outdoor play facilities for the kids and loads of interesting things to buy as well as a very extensive aquarium. I'd disregard all these mindless reviews regarding animal neglect- they are totally groundless, completely false and downright malicious in places.
A definite "must visit" for anyone.
R. M.
Great day out delicious lunch by the lake and grandchildren enjoyed seeing the animals and indoor and outdoor play areas
S. A.
Fantastic garden centre and so much more. I will definitely be back. Loved it
B. E.
Visited with the kids. They used the play area which was free. Able to look at the animal near by and looked at the fish in the aquarium.
s. o.
Parking was "interesting" seemed alot of cars for a very few people... well apart from the Cafe... !!! Well laid out and nice products..
N. O.
Absolutely brilliant just about everything under one roof and you don't have to remortgage your house to buy stuff
D. F.
A bit of a mixed experience, my partner was happy with his pond purchases but I found the outside garden centre off putting to wander round in because of the awful smell coming from the cafe. It did force me to go indoors where I found some tomato plants then discovered only 1 till in operation in the shop, though the man operating it was doing well with the queue.
A.
Really nice garden centre, good selection of plants and decorations. They even have some hens plus great location as just down the road is Doddington hall and Whisby lakes.
L. S.
First time going and was only a quick visit as they didn't have the pond valve my friend needed
A. W.
Nice Garden centre, large selection of items also staff very warm and friendly
L. R.
Lovely place to bring kids. Great to see the animals, which include deer, wallabies, rabbits, turkey, pigs, goats and alpacas. Brilliant soft play barn. Fab sandpit, climbing frames and zip wire. The garden centre has some beautiful plants. Always something at The Works that I decide I need to buy. Clothing shop and aquarium too. Cafe is lovely with views of the lakes. I enjoyed a lakeside glass of Pimms on my latest visit! Lovely walk between the lakes watching the birds and fish. Price of soft play is a tad extortionate over summer hols, but worth it if you spend the day there! Parking is good. Highly recommend a visit!
J. M.
A real gem of a place with animals, lakes, soft play a great cafe and shopping. Totally recommended especially with children
T. G.
Been today with my niece and my grandson. Was lovely to see the animals, especially the black valley sheep. Disappointed that Easter activities were advertised but when we got to the indoor barn nothing was there. Also the toilets were a let down, only 3 female toilets, 1 out of order and not of a good hygiene standard, and no toilet roll, also the outdoor kids hand-wash station was all blocked with used water.
Such a shame , especially with it being Easter half term. 😕
K. G.
Great place for kids with the playground and animal park. Nice looking cafe too and although we didn't have anything, it looked like it had a decent range of snacks and other refreshments. Good range of products too, all the stuff you would expect from a garden centre and aquarium plus integrated outlets including The Works and Cotton Traders. Great place for a family afternoon out.
L. A.
Cafe has fabulous lakeside location. Helpful staff and nice food.
N. S.
Friendly staff and well run. Certain items can be a little pricey and others can be a bargain. Love the cafe for a bite to eat
m. G.
My granchildren like it here.
Large outdoor play aria with sand play, some animals plenty of seating for adults.soft play aria can get busy at times
Kids love it.
S. S.
The play area is a lovely small soft play area. My grandson is two years old and it is ideal for him. Because it's a smaller play area you don't get to many old kids there which is ideal for the younger kids. Nice to walk round and see and feed the animals on a dry day as well
J. o.
Was great place well set out. Staff was very friendly. Love seeing the other animals in the sanctuary to the back. Great place for children to play too.
A. D.
Great meal and not too busy. Would certainly go back again
v. m.
Good food, reasonably fast service.
s. s.
Wonderful varied products , reasonable prices and the best cafe!
R. w.
Play barn was fantastic and very cheap for what you get. The animals look well looked after and the staff were lovely. Especially the cafe staff in the play barn itself. My little boy loved it. Will be returning. The garden centre has everything you need and is more of an experience than most garden centres with its lakes and atmosphere. It's christmas area is also lovely.
L. T.
Such a great place garden centre always seems well looked after. We Had a coffee and cake in the newly decorated cafe was so yummy. Staff are always so cheerful and helpful. Our son loves to spot the cats a chickens wandering around the place. Also the children's play area is brilliant
L. T.
A great place for all garden essentials.
Fabulous range of gifts for all occasions.
R. N.
Still has a bit of old garden centre feel. Personally I do prefer them to the modern supermarket style ones. Bit of something for everyone. Clothes, books, coffee and cake and not forgetting plants.
J. G.
Killed a few hours had great fun feeding the goats, donkeys ducks and swans...cafe was good highly recommended
H. S.
Lovely place for families. Loved the animals.
J. V.
Had a great time in the kids play area for £5 for children and a £1 for adults it is good value, keep your ticket and you can go and come back all day. Food is reasonably priced.
D. B.
Plenty of variety. Cafe expensive but aren't they all these days. Meal presentation good
J. w.
Food was excellent 😋 . Shop prices very reasonable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to seeing and doing more as the weather picks up. Plants also very reasonably priced. ☺️👍
E. S.
Nice place to visit with plenty of variety of clothing, house hold items and everything for the garden.
J. S.
Had a very good morning with all 3 of my children today. The animals were all very well taken care of and very friendly the children absolutely loved it.
We got to see all the animals and feed them, played in the soft play area as well as the outside park and to top it off we got to choose a pumpkin each for all 3 of my kiddos and had them carved by one of the staff members in a tent erected apwcially for carving and decorating the pumpkins.
If you had your doubts about the place a couple of years ago go back and see how well they have done improving the facilities and animal areas.
f. w.
Characterful and unusual garden centre. It has a wonderful lake to sit by and drink your coffee. You can actually observe plants being taken care of. Crowded with goodies, but this also means it is a little difficult to negotiate if your mobility is a bit off.
Also has a truly excellent Cotton Traders.
C. A. S.
Love the dog friendly Lakeside Cafe. A great garden centre and lovely plants.
I. N.
We visited after heavy rain and the poor old roof was full of leaks. Felt sorry for lost stock on some of the stalls inside.
Fair selection, some items much cheaper here than in some of the posher centres. Friendly staff. Decent parking.
P.
What a beautiful place lovely shops inside great advice on plants and the restaurant has amazing outside seating overlooking a lake full of well behaved birds. Kids play area and a walk through with ponds and more wild fowl. Stunning place!
I. S.
Brilliant place to buy plants and have a wide choice for your garden decoration
T. G.
Excellent day out with the grandchildren, kept them entertained all day, soft play then outside to the sand pit & slides, then seeing the animals..
We took a picnic but we had coffee in the cafe which can do food,we must have spent 5hours altogether & took home 2 sleepy grandchildren.well worth a visit. reasonably priced for a full fun day..definitely recommend you visit...
E. A.
Lovely place to door and chill by the lake. Lovely food.
L. T.
Mahoosive place! We were there for a birthday party for my young niece and it was a great day. Decent grub for the kids, reasonable prices for our snacks. So much fun stuff for young kids (our daughter is 14 months and had a blast, my niece is now 4 and was loving it) inside and the outside is even better- if only we'd had time to explore it all! We'll be back!
S.
Fantastic - a really wide range of plants and garden bits available. We enjoy going to see the animals and the soft play is ideal for our one year old! Easily spend all day there
L. B.
Had lunch yesterday. My plate was enough to feed 2 people. Although I gave it my best shot. Had the quiche, huge portion. All Staff brilliant whichever part you go to. Really good trip out with customer service the best.
w.
Customer service is fab. Just right at the moment it needs a finishing touch.
The butchers has gone. The animal area still needs a bit more TLC to make it an attraction rather than just a meeting place.
Could be much much better.
S. B.
Cafe is always super. Garden centre was half empty during our last visit.
L. C.
Lovely place with a gorgeous giant pond out side with some lovely wildlife but! A few issues, firstly the pricing is extremely high for no reason other then to look "posh". Secondly, the staff in the cage weren't the greatest, 2 members of staff running round talking to each other more then the 4 customers in the cafe... One member of staff took my order and then just left, came back several times with no words, second member of staff spoke to me and then did the same as the other member of staff.
So all in all, lovely scenery, high prices and cafe staff lacking basic customer service skills.
W. S.
Had a good cup of tea and scone in the river side cafe, also bought some new fish for fish tank.
K. W.
We took our five year old granddaughter here as part of her birthday treat. I used to live in Lincoln and brought my children here when they were young. I hadn't been here for years. How it's changed, its obviously had some severe investment put into it. We took her for something to eat. The prices were in line with most other places to be honest. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was lovely sitting by the water watching the ducks and big fish. We bought some food for the ducks. All in all a great day.
K. V.
Lovely place with more to see than just its "garden centre" name would suggest. Garden buildings, lovely cafe overlooking the lake, animal park, birds, and play area.
J. K. (. K.
Excellent choice of plants . Friendly and polite staff. Excellent food and very well prepared good choice of food and very well presented.
Would highly recommend a visit.
S. W.
Lovely garden centre! Great place to buy plants and have a cuppa! Cafe is very sweet and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating.
C. B.
Large open planned harden centre. Lovely cafe and restaurant. Well presented areas with lots of choice. Also sold clothes, paintings and art work.
Cream tea to finish the visit. Worth the afternoon out.
S. K.
I bought some healthy looking plants at a very reasonable price so I have every confidence in them. There are some concessions within the building such as Cotton Traders, Maidenhead Aquatics and The Works. A nice little cafe for a coffee too.
T. S.
I loved this garden centre. So many plants and trees to look at. Would need a good few hours to see everything! What surprised me was that there was an animal area around the back of the garden centre. Lots of goats, sheep and horses! Some of the geese were waddling through into the garden centre itself, which i thought was lovely. Definitely worth a visit!
m. b.
Nice walk and great little cafe
S. C.
Friendly welcoming staff, good selection of products, just a shame they don't sell turf
P. R.
Very good selection of plants . Restaurant seating is well spaced out . Very good selection of cooked food , drinks , cakes and savouries. You can go through restaurant to a outside seating area against a duck and other birds and fishing pond. This out side seating area has tables and chairs. So you can view the pond and birds whilst having your dinner and refreshments and snacks.
J. P.
Friendly and speedy service with a tasty lunch with a friend - lovely view over the lake.
L. J.
Nice lunch, was extremely busy so a little slow but lovely service from staff.
F. B.
Very good garden ctr and cafe, had a great time seeing all the animals good place to take kids, even stroked a deer , fed the ducks by hand great experience
C. V. d. w.
It's quite far out and down a small road off a main roundabout, but the garden centre is nice, not massive but has a good range of stuff to look through. I didn't eat there but the cafe looked lovely and cosy on the inside (fireplace and fairy lights) , there were lots of plants and seeds etc. As well as a 'the works' store which was surprisingly big and some clothes stores.
R. S.
Lovely garden centre. Not cheap but great quality. Treated myself to new pot and hebe.
M. G.
Garden Centre was getting ready for Christmas, so not as tidy as usual. Like in store shops.
Love having a coffee outside by lake, but they need to cater for gluten free, took a chance on baked potato and filling.
R. J.
Excellent. Not only outlets there ,but nice also a nice cafe /restaurant ,and lovely setting sitting outside.
R. A.
Great outdoor kids play area, animals and indoor soft play. Entry at the back of the centre... keeps them entertained for a good 2+ hours. Food reasonably priced. Shop have a great range of items clothes, plants, gifting etc Definitely worth a visit
G. W.
Friendly welcome, tasty cake in the cafe but a bit expensive to add a single scoop of ice cream for £2!
C. M.
Lovely place for shopping and the cafe. Food delicious
A. G.
Get place for not only adults but to take your little one around. Great shops and sift play for kids. Great food in the cafe and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg
V. D.
So much bigger than expected from the outside ! Worth a visit.
S. R.
Very friendly staff. Great cafe. Quality merchandise
S. p.
Excellent place to relax. Does a great breakfast
J. T.
Great price, staff were friendly & helpful. Good size indoor play area as well as large outdoor playgrounds & animals to feed. Had a lovely morning decided to stay for lunch which was good value for money & plenty of choice.
Overall great value good day out.
J. S.
Something for the kids to do ,play area ,animals etc .Nice food in restaurant as well .

Again great customer support and good deals thanks,
Update Jan 2022.
Still amazing and got better price a bit high but boy the food was lovely and staff very polite love the log fire.
M. P.
There are several business at Whisby Garden Centre. I bought a new walking jacket, some stationary and seed potatoes and tomato seeds all at the same time, what more could you ask for? Perfect!
R. B.
Great place went for a look round ended up buying a jigsaw puzzle from the works in there great selection of garden stuff food cakes definitely going back and lovely to walk round the lake 👌👌👌
S. N.
Great place, can spend hours there and the restaurant is fabulous!
R. F.
Great selection of outdoor plants at fair prices. Not so many indoor plants. It's my go to for aquarium things and the staff are very knowledgeable.
Dogs are welcome but be mindful that there are cats and chickens wandering freely. My niece loves coming here to feed the ducks and look at the fish while the grown ups do the garden centre stuff.
Some parts look a bit run down but overall it manages to offer a lot to make it competitive with pennels.
j. s.
Had a really enjoyable meal with my husband and great granddaughter . Beautiful garden centre wit lots of amazing plants . Bushes , fruit trees all reasonable price . Lovely day out feeding the ducks and fish , well worth a trip .p
J. J.
I'd said ok for the money. Gutted for the that the kids water feature wasn't working on such a hot day. The other let down was the restaurant it wasn't busy but took 40minutes to take our order. Then they brought the wrong food to the table. When we did get our food the order was wrong they had missed things off. It wasn't cheap so was dissapointed.
K. B.
A good garden centre with a nice cafe. The staff are helpful and products are reasonably priced. There's also a Works there. Overall a pleasant place to visit for an afternoon.
S. M.
Passed a few times but finally went in, excellent will be back.
P. P.
Looks a bit tied & damp this time of the year but don’t let that deceive you
Full range of plants, pots & garden tools, large Maidenhead aquatics & The Works, animals to visit & an extensive outdoor children’s, I definitely recommend you try the restaurant very warm & cosy in this cold weather with table ordering & payment service & excellent tasty dishes to enjoy
M.
Prompt pleasant service and lovely food and coffee at reasonable prices. Sausage baps and cherry scones highly recommended. Tables well spaced and covid precautions in place but unobtrusive.
K. N.
Nice place, lots of things to see.
Lakeside restaurant was disappointing.
Tables are sticky, giving the impression and feeling they are unclean.
Staff said it was sanitising and cleaning products used.
She also said others customers are complaining.
Tea cup was sticking to table, elbows, hands ect.
Very unpleasant eating experience for us.
Management need to get this sticky table top issue sorted.
Its stopping me from returning to eat there.
I'm certain its putting others off from eating there too.
N. J.
Excellent lunch. Great choice of plants.
R. C.
A great garden centre, good prices and an amazing animal park outside 😁👍
E. M.
I bring my nephew here regularly - he loves it. The indoor soft play and outdoor play area are teriffic. We love the pond and the ducks, geese moorhens plus I get to enjoy the plants. It is a win win. Nice food in the restaurant and the resident cats are friendly as are the staff
N. A.
A must go and visit. Beautiful garden centre. I will definitely be going back on many occasions👍😊
A. T.
Great little garden centre with a lovely restaurant.Outside eating area beside the lake a lovely setting
M. D.
This place has a few concession stores too. Cotton traders is one.....lots of stock in priced and one assistant whenever acknowledged us and was on the phone for the 15 minute duration of our visit.
The works had plenty of stock but on asking the sales assistant if they had 2 items in stock, one being a magnifying glass, she said no but then we found the items. The Garden centre itself was well stocked and all plants looked well looked after. No staff around to ask advice though. Wanted to use the cafe but there was no one on the door to tell us about wait times, menus etc during this period and the queues were long and confusing.
V. P.
Nice enough to walk around. But ridiculously over priced. Food is only just edible. I ordered the soup of the day " carrot and honey" but I was brought broccoli and cheese soup which had lumps of powder in
K.
How have I not reviewed this place yet? We mainly go here for the fantastic restaurant. The breakfasts take about 15 mins to receive, which is great. The quality of the ingredients is what brings us back. It's about £7 for the biggie, but there are two smaller sizes too. I've had the soup of the day and half sandwich. Both were lovely, and they do offer lots of other normal lunches too. Finally the Sunday lunch, different meats to choose from and in general, just really tasty. Loads of space, and an outside area near some water. When times aren't so daft, we'll be back.
R. P.
We had a lovely visit today although slightly concerned with the goats 2 were limping realy realy badly to the point it realy upset my friends little girl it they looked in so much pain and there pads looks rather sore and swollen
F. C.
Fab garden centre with stunning views over the lake.
C. L.
Didn't get round it all, but there is a gift shop, clothes shop, stationary and art shop. The garden centre was well stocked. There is a cafe which we didn't try. There is also a nature trail with opportunities to feed various animals.
C. P.
Hard to find plants. All mixed up. The gardens them selves are lovely.
C.
Taken my lady to garden centre to see the fish and she absolutely loved it! Lovely sitting area outside aswell!
h. s.
Food was lovely over looking the pond
A. W.
Shopped at Maidenhead Aquatics. Great service as always
D. B.
Perfect place for kids has a large outside play area if the weather is nice and indoor one if it's not
C. L.
Love this little garden centre. Small areas for clothing, etc. big aquatic section with great range of fish. Lovely cafe and really good ice cream. In the sun it's lovely to sit on the terrace and look over the lakes. They have a really good selection of plants at decent prices.
There is a new indoor soft play and a big out door play area also and a few animals to see.
R. B.
Lovely garden centre with great cafe
P. H.
Lovely day out. Great variety of shops and great prices. Fun for all the family.
p. b.
The grandchildren really loved this place! Will go again
M. F.
I was surprised at how big the place was, so much to look at, great variety. The cafe is lovely, table service, very friendly staff and really good food.
T. A.
Great little place. God selection of plants and garden essentials. Cafe great table service and food. Of course must not forget the entertaining ducks etc.
C.
Lovely, affordable day out. The cafe is consistanly brilliant. We've been several times as a family and the food has always been fantastic.
C. W.
Great place to take kids (or adults) who enjoy learning about and interacting with animals. Can get quite muddy and not a lot of great places to wait out a rainspell, but overall would recommend!
T. W.
Really enjoyed our visit. Garden supplies, the works, clothing, aquarium shop was very well stocked as and we had a lovely gluten free lunch. Would recommend.
B. M.
Lovely restaurant/cafe
T. H.
We mainly use the aquarium here to buy our fish , the staff our very helpful, ask a question if your not sure and they are happy to answer. Plenty of fish to choose from.
A. o.
The play barn for children is very good as is the shops and garden center, unfortunately the cafe although it has been refurbished and looks lovely is let down by the awful food, we won't be eating there again.
W. W.
Took our 4 year old grandson to the indoor play barn. Reasonably priced and adults are just £1. All equipment suitable for young school age and many pre school children. Snacks reasonable. Only issue is the lack of a good secure exit. Other indoor play areas make it difficult for children to escape. But here there is just an easily opened outer door. You need to know where your child is at all times. Finally, the reward scheme is useful. Free entry after 10 visits, and a free drink after 10 drinks purchased.
T. M.
were able to get what we were needing
G. C.
Great Aquarium Centre, needed live plants for my tank and live blood worms. Got both and extra, Great selection of live plants.
L. B.
Brillant day out for children
k. M.
I buy my fish here for my fish tank. I used to go to pets at home for fish before i could drive, but they just didn't last nor do they understand fish problems ie- diseases.
So now i come here and would recommend them to anyone. The people at the aquarium fish area actually KNOW about fish. I have had fish in my tank for 11 years now and i can tell you fish are hard to look after and even i struggle to know what is wrong with my fish sometimes. Recently i had a fish poorly, did my research found out what it was, spent £35 on the most expensive treatments, but it wasn't working. So i called these guys up and they gave me free advice over the phone.
I drove over, showed them photos of my fish and they confirmed it was what they said and gave me a treatment, which actually worked! They said the treatment i bought was all natural based plants and didn't have any medicine in it. The stuff they gave me actually had medicine it it and only cost me £6. And guess what! My fish was better and is now happily swimming around with his friends.
These people in the shop actaully care about fish... also, when everything opens up again they have a good cafe which looks onto the lakes and sell good garden things, but also in the winter they sell the most Amazing baubles, me and my kids come every year to choose one special bauble for the Christmas tree 😊
P. B.
It is REAL, I mean a real garden centre! Lots of plants and accessories and with easy access to a big car park. Small plants from flowers to fruit and veg and onto shrubs and trees. Extras are a cafe, clothes, Aquaria, and garden furniture. Also noted books and clothes. I was impressed.
A. M.
Toilets was smelly, could do with a big clean.
R. S.
Sat outside watching the carp & swans on the lake , lovely cafe
S. B.
Not quite the experience it used to be. Butchers have gone, clothes overpriced
Sometimes animals are not on show but still charged full price to go into the play zone. Play zone itself is good for the kids, outside is good in summer but gets waterlogged in wet weather. Cafe is good with well priced meals and drinks.
F. L.
Views over the lakes are great and so is the food.
P. K.
We went there to get a water feature but none of them were working so quite disappointed really, it also looked tired in places and if some extra effort was put in I'm sure its turnover would increase quite a lot as its a nice place to visit
Having said that I would return .
J. C.
Like going here but it really needs a face lift so much more could make this place a top garden centre in the area
S. B.
Just had our sons 4th birthday party at play barn and staff were great. Kids had a great time.
C. S.
Great place to buy quality flowers and plants
T. H.
Sit by the lake enjoying a meal or just a coffee wonderful
J. H.
Family run business dog friendly great aquatic area, things for the kids to enjoy too
J. C.
Lots to do for the kids and good soft play. Good Garden Centre with lots of interesting parts, such as The Works.
P. A.
Big improvement, lots more good stock ,come such a long way from the little shed, where I used to get my hyacinth bulbs !!! 50yrs ago ,still as friendly.well. done
B. K.
Beautiful garden and cafe. Food was good!
S. C.
really enjoyed it, great place there was a car show on aswell which was good, went to Maidenhead Aquatics whilst visiting the center for some fish, which were all in great condition, served by a great chap with grey hair and beard, really pleasant, and knowledgeable 👍👍👍
L. N.
Great place to look around nice garden centre nice restaurant food was great then took grandaughter into the play aera loads to do for kids indoor and out cheap for kids to get in think adult prices should be alot less but you can spend hours watch the kids play and look at the animals
K. E.
Whisbu garden centre was great for in formation and gave me excellent ideas. My 2 fish tanks are set up now because of the guys in the aquarium section. I'm in a wheel chair and had no problem going round the store.
J. C.
Always pass here on the way to the coast and from the road side it doesn't look much thought we would only be there an hour or so but was there 4 hours! Has so much to do for children. Has a large sandpit loads of animals to feed massive soft play huge playground outside a lake with ducks on. Serves food and drinks too. Definitely worth a visit and will be going back. You do have to pay to go into the farm but think its £4.95 for kids and £3.50 for adults but it's worth it.
S.
Nicely set out, glad that it had the works in so I could pick up a few crafting things as well as some new clothes from cotton traders. Got a few plants for my newly dug up garden.
N. H.
Very good garden centre for plants and garden sundries, but also a very good pond/fish section, plus great in-store clothing shops (including Cotton Traders) and a very good lakeside cafe. And to keep the kids happy there's a great ice cream kiosk and duck/fish feeding around the lake. Great place for a 2 or 3 hour family trip out.
J. C.
Lovely place, aquatics, books, clothes as well as garden things. Lovely place to eat with tables outside over looking the lake. Children's soft play area, and large sandpit. Something for every age group.
S. G.
Staff very helpful. Good range of goods.
Prices reasonable.
D. C.
We stopped here on the way to Skegness from Leicester, and it was a nice little garden centre with a lovely lakeside restaurant. On the first visit, members of the group had a cooked breakfast which they thought was great, so they were a little upset on the second visit that they refused to take a breakfast order literally 2 minutes past the end of serving time, even though they were just starting to clear the breakfast items away. Ended up feeding a child a sausage roll and cake because it was a bit early for lunch at 11.30am.
S. H.
Really enjoyed looking around the garden centre, it's also dog friendly. We also went in to the animal park. This was reasonably priced. There is a cafe and both an indoor and outdoor play area included in the entry price and this is aimed at children 0-12. A lovely afternoon out.
C. E.
Plenty of parking spaces. Lovely garden centre, nice cafe for a coffee & cake or even lunch. Nice to walk & browse in the shopping area
S. K.
Great variety of plants & gifts. Lakeside cafe was warm & welcoming with great service.
F. G.
What's not to like? A 'The works', fish shop, garden centre and soft play with outdoor area. When my little boy detached himself from me, staff couldn't have been more helpful. Food in the soft play is standard, but my kids love it there, partially because of the chance to play in the sand or look at the animals.
V. F.
Had several hours here with the kids, they thoroughly enjoyed it. I paid the bizarre price of £10.98 for 2 children and 1 adult but felt this was worth the money. The soft play barn is brand new and therefore spotlessly clean, the seating area is really nice.
The kids had a packed lunch box (sandwich + 3 items) for a reasonable £3.99.
We then fed the animals and played on the outside play area so the price IMO is very good for 3 to 4 hours of entertainment
D. G.
Pleasant medium sized garden centre with a number of other retail outlets. The best part for me is the cafe, they do a cooked breakfast early on then a variety of lunchtime meals including Sunday roasts, All top quality at very reasonable cost. The location by a fishing lake with wild fowl swans etc is another bonus. If you haven't been there go you won't regret it. Don't mix it up with the Whisby nature park. Which is OK but vast.
p. s.
Was a very pleasant and cheerful place to shop
M. M.
What a lovely place to go. it was a little hard to find the signs to small. but once we got there it was a lovely wee place. staff very friendly .they have two chickens wondering around the shop and what we could see 2 or 3 cats chilling out in the sun .cafe was large and you could sit out side and watch the ducks and other bird. as you have your meal or just a cup a.
P. E.
After reading some of the reviews I find some of them very much out of order. We had a great afternoon staff very polite and helpful. And very good for children did not have any food there but smell coming from the cafe made us feel hungry. Thanks for how afternoon
D. B.
The cafe there is cosy with a log burner. Food is excellent. We had homemade steak pie with veg, I would recommend it to anyone. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning.
K. L.
5 of us out for lunch on motorbikes and figured this would be a good place to stop for a lunch break. Ended up in fits of laughter as they're trying so hard to do things right with Covid but ended up just amusing us. Bringing everything out on trays but then getting you to rummage through the salt and pepper pots and sauce pots on the tray rather than wearing gloves and bringing you what you need. Food was ok, nothing to shout about, whereas the cakes were really good. Ooh and the coffee...hmmm...😂
A. K.
Wonderful garden centre 10/10. Slow service in cafe, forgetful waiters and uninterested. Food good but looked like it had been left under a heat lamp a while.
H. S.
Visited the aquatics section. Been twice now and Absolutely brilliant staff..very helpful and patient with my 12 yr old whom is autistic. Had the patience to explain everything to him.
C. J.
A bit of a TARDIS once you start to explore the place. Definitely doesn't seem to be as large or as well stocked as it is from the roadside.
Prices seem very reasonable with plenty of staff on hand.
Soft play and animal park are very good value for money.
C. R.
Beautiful garden centre! We pass this every time we go to visit the in-laws and we finally made it a day trip out. There is a fab selection of little shops to browser through and then the animal farm part is amazing! £2.50 each (under 2's are free) and they have goats, deer, rabbits, horses, llamas, pigs and fish to entertain the little ones. Then there is an outside play area with slides and even a water pump. They are currently building an indoor soft play area which they think should be ready by Autumn this year, so it will further improve it. Plenty of parking and lovely staff...definitely worth a visit if you have a free day!
D. H.
I tend to go here to pick up books from the works and to wander around the garden centre before getting a drink and cake from the cafe by the lake, so I cannot comment on the children's play area and the animal part. However, the garden centre is quite nice and has improved over the years, you will probably find chickens wandering around the shopping area, which is quite different. There is a decent butcher as you go in and a cotton traders, as well as an aquarium shop and the works.
Ok to spend a few hours on a sunny day and buy a few plants or just feed the ducks.
A. W.
Ok. Needs a bit of a makeover to make it better. Tired signage everywhere (needs a marketing/branding pro to visit) and really slow service in the cafe. Scones were dry and nearly inedible when we went today. Outdoor area for kids looked good though - no complaints there!
A. W.
We visited today, predominantly to return an item to The Works (they have a shop there) and buy more goodies for our toddler. Ended up buying hot drinks and cake too, highly reccomend, cakes were all delicious. Hot food looked very tempting so would happily return. They have fish to look at which never fails to fascinate our daughter and great place to have a mooch round x
A. G. (.
Garden centre is ok the toilets need updating the disabled toilet is a health hazard with the seat hanging off. I hate having to use the toilets here,
However the cafe is excellent, great food if a little expensive,
Plants good value
J. L.
I love this place, a bit of everything from plants and clothes to fish and garden furniture, a cafe and ice cream parlour. A day out with the kids is also great as there's animals you can feed and a play area with a zip wire for parents and kids. Private trout fishing lake you need a permit for. To top it all off a Works stationary store.
j. g.
I love whisby the garden stuff is great and not terribly expensive. There were no clothes shops operating but the works is open. We got plants and compost so a good afternoon.
T. G.
I love visiting here. To me, it's not as regimented as other garden centres. It's a little higgledy-piggedly. It has a much more 'natural' feel to it.
It has something for everyone; there are animals and a play area for the kids, a lake to chill out by and a variety of little 'shops' selling outdoor wear, garden furniture and everything for the avid aquarium keeper.
It has a reasonable sized cafe that serves okay food and coffee.
B.
Great little place. Nice cafe by the water's edge. Just really concerned to see flies all over the food behind the counters. Perhaps some covers over the counter side would be helpful.
Staff lovely in there
L. W.
Lots to see. A garden centre and more! You could spend ages here especially if you have children in tow. Before you reach the plants theres Cotton Traders and The Works, garden furniture and an Aquatics centre. For the children theres a play area and an animal centre. The cafe has a good selection of light bites, cakes and main meals where you can eat in or choose to sit out next to the lakes. Prices are reasonable too!
N. A.
Despite the rain, the children enjoyed it.
s. c.
Have a good selection of plants but can be on the dear side.
c. L.
I visited Whisby on the 10th August 2016. I am delighted to say the refurbishment of the animal park looks as though it has finished and they have made an excellent job. Both of my children really enjoyed themselves. The animals are lovely and tame and gentle when they are being fed. The new sandpit is really good and there are some really good play areas. There is a good zip wire and a fun sand and water dam. A really good place to bring your children
S. O.
It's a great place to pop in and do a bit of shopping and have a coffee, snack or meal at a very reasonable price. You can extend your visit if you have child as there's a children's area with animals and play area. There is also fishing on the lakes.
P. M.
Great location for a coffee/lunch stop down the A15. Sat outside on the patio enjoying the view of the lakes. Excellent range of cakes and snacks. Didn't have lunch but it looked good.
C. B.
Great garden centre that offers casual clothing, The Works for books, stationary and crafts, aquarium supplies, a butcher's with wonderful fresh food not to mention a good selection of plants and garden paraphernalia. The real reason to visit though is the cafe overlooking the lake with log burner in the winter and a small animal visitor centre and play centre for children in the summer.
A.
Had a lovely day with my daughter, my friend and her daughter. The girls really enjoyed the play area especially the zipwire. They loved feeding the ducks who are very friendly. The livestock looked healthy and their hooves looked to be in good condition as I have previously read reviews that they looked to be in a bad way but it looked like they had been tidied up. It is really nice how the play area is divided up and all the equipment is in good condition. There was no litter and it was clean. We didn't go in the play been as it had been such a lovely warm day All the outdoor activities had worn our girls out. In the garden centre itself there are beautiful chickens that have freedom to roam and beautiful cats who seem to love being there and enjoy any attention and fuss they can get.
A. H.
Only had a short visit to the animal farm, sand pit and new indoor play barnand have to say we were impressed by them all. The animals in the farm had unusual animals to a typical farm, the sand pit was huge and had lots to do, whilst the play barn was clean, great environment for young kids and had a good selection in the cafe for adults and children alike.
Will definitely be visiting again in the future for a full days outing.
Y. B. a. L.
High prices but small portions and not best quality leaving me disatisfied again, but i like the views and we got a table, I skipped daisy maid where i wanted to go but the que was unreal so came here, i suspect prices are high so that they don't get too many customers.. Play area is lovely but il skip it because it costs too much, very disappointing again.
K. O.
Wonderful garden centre which has so much more. We stopped while passing through to Skegness and really enjoyed the experience, also admit dogs which is nice to see, cafe with lovely seating area outside.
J. N.
Good selection of garden plants... but quite expensive. But that's just plants I guess... especially larger ones. Will go back and spend (lots) more money no doubt.
d. s.
Went yesterday with family there was about 17 of us. We ate 1st outside on patio of the cafe, what a setting overlooking the lake. Everybody enjoyed their food comments ranged from superb to best burger in Lincoln. We then moved on to the little animal pens which the little ones amongst us really loved. After that we saw donkeys , alpaca pigs, goats etc. Then we went to the outside play area which had something for kids of all ages including a beach area. We finished off inside the play barn where the younger ones escaped the heat of the sun and played to their hearts content. They have cold drinks and ice cream etc in there. Massive thumbs up from us and our family. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.
J. S.
A lovely garden centre that has a good selection of plants and garden accessories. It is surrounded by a very pretty lake and has a cafe and a children's play ages and a few indoor shops
Well worth a visit.
J. M.
Parts of this garden centre are nicely done. Other parts need updating or screening away from customers as they appear messy (such as the bins near the entrance). The prices are really reasonable and the staff are friendly.
K. L.
Fantastic day, lovely lunch to start at the cafe and then a trip to the play barn. First time at the new play barn, will definately return. Great facilities, great service and definately worth the money spent.. excellent value, can spend hours there.
T. C.
Lovely food and staff..although a longer than expected to wait for the food.It was a total suprise tho to find the Eat out to help out was not recognised although on there website tue.wed. and thursday..beware.
M. A.
Nice little garden centre, good choice of things to buy. The tea rooms are a must. Plenty of options on the menu, very generous food portions. Staff are friendly and helpful
P. W.
Visited today. Plenty to keep the children entertained, but have only given 3 stars as the animal area was poor. Rabbits and guinea pigs with dirty hutches, and no hay(very important for their diet), different varieties of birds in a small enclosure again shabby and dirty. I wish that people would learn how to care for animals before keeping them. 😔
C. H.
Excellent, good restaurant good garden centre, good for tropical fish and in a beautiful parkland and lakes setting
d. k.
Handy site , Home made lunch time food looked good. Scampi n chips ordinary
Not cheap.
Log burning smell in dining room and paraffin smell in one of the sales areas nearest to open air area on way to cafe
Cotton traders seemed old stock new stuff not in yet.
G. B.
Place with great potential.
Dropped in here on Good Friday and had a bite to eat at the Lakeside Cafe. Lots to do and see, with a local butcher, a The Works book store, a small but well stocked garden centre, local ice cream, and more on the premises as well as an animal centre. It is great for all ages, but specifically children with several slides/climbing frames and a huge sand pit.
The only comment that I have to make is about the animal centre; whilst it is pennies to enter (£1.50 per person), I would much rather they charged more and maintained it to a higher standard. Although the animals all appeared well, some definitely needed larger/better enclosures and there were desperate repairs needed to a number of the fences.
L. W. (.
A nice garden centre with a lovely selection of plants and trees, reasonably priced. There's a small farm and play area (paid entry) which has been done up recently, but you can still take children to see the pond and feed the ducks/giant fish for a cheaper day out. The cafe is pretty good, there's ice creams and snacks and some good shops inside including Bon Marche, the garden centre itself and a butchers. There's a Works store too which is probably the best laid out Works store I've been too as it's not too cramped. Everything is wheelchair friendly though there are no special facilities.
G. B.
It's nice to be able to mooch around the garden centre again, and there's a great selection of plants. It was also nice to enjoy a coffee and cake in the cafe.
J. T.
Lovely garden centre. Huge variety of plants and garden ornaments. Delicious food and refreshments in the Lakeside cafe. We always call in for a coffee and scone.
M. C.
Cotton traders, a butchers, the works novelty store, a decent restaurant, a huge children's indoor and outdoor playpark, animal sanctuary toy store, aquarium store, all contained within a garden centre. It is a brilliant business, has a market feel. And you find out where grandparents get those funky clothes.
K. S.
This is our second home at the moment, we love going as a family but my 3 yr old daughter loves it the most! She asks if we can go nearly every day. She loves finding the cats and loves having her lunch box from the cafe :-) beautiful chilled out family place
c. s.
Very helpful staff and an excellent selection of very well presented plants and trees. Not really interested in the rest of what it had to offer but gardening wise it is spot on. The wild flower selection was an added bonus.
A. H.
Retail outlets. Garden centre, lovely cafe overlooking lake. £4 99 per person to see and feed animals, use outdoor and new indoor play areas. Cotton traders, The Works, Bon Marche, butchers and aquatic centre. Free parking. Well worth a visit
J. A.
The garden centre is not much of a garden centre any more. Mostly independent shops in the main bulk of the garden centre. We went to take my granddaughter to the new play barn which is brilliant for smaller children. I would recommend the play barn to any child under 6.
M. T.
Gaeden Centre fantastic like always. We'll stocked also got clothing section. Purchased two help for heroes tops. Only let down was the restaurant. Portions size of meal for price not realistic. After looking at other people's lunches it looks like it a bit of a lottery. It all depends what member of staff serves you depicts the amount you get. 🙄
B. i. A. i.
Really enjoy the experience in the cafe at the back - lovely outdoor setting, friendly and helpful staff (even when really busy) and I had a lovely vegan meal...
I'll be back again soon.
S.
A very large garden centre, with a good plant selection and helpful staff.
A good but pricey cafe with toilets nearby.
K. m.
Great place.. I would say expensive but that just seems to reflect everything you buy now no matter what it is.. so just a case of getting use to it cus don't think it will change any time soon
J. W.
Plenty of choice, good service. & very helpful.
I. C.
Great cafe. Lovely seats by lake. Staff are very friendly. Good choice of plants
S. Y.
Layout is a bit complicated in some outlets. The food in the restaurant is exceptionally good if a little slow. The aquarium shop is always good to look around lots available and lots of fish to look at.
J.
Lovely place. We buy plants but also come to feed the ducks, look at the aquariums and usually have a cuppa and slice of cake at the restaurant.
C.
Good selection of plants, friendly staff. I would have given 5 stars except for a member of the public with no mask coughing her head off.
K. T.
A sort of multi area really. Not only the garden centre here. There is a butchers, an aquatic area for purchasing fish for your pond or aquarium plus extras. A ladies shop and a country wear shop. The Works is here too. At the rear, open for summer is the animal enclosures, the large play area and sand pit. There is a café offering hot specials, cakes and beverages. You can feed the ducks at the pond areas purchasing proper feed and also the animals. There is also fishing here with a permit I believe. Whisby also has a new children's soft play barn. A worthwhile visit for families.
V. L.
Enjoyed the visit, but exterior is beginning to look very shabby and uninviting. Needs some upgrading. Inside the shops are well presented and the staff in BonMarche were lovely.
H. R.
The bedding plants left a lot to be desired.
A. W. (.
Great little place for under 8's. Indoor play area, outside play and few animals to see. Not bad for £5 a child. Cafe is reasonable price too
M. O.
Great garden centre with good prices. Friendly staff and animals to feed. Restaurant serves nice food and has never let us down.
J. S.
Always enjoy this garden centre, good selection of plants, excellent cafe with outdoor seating next to the lake or indoors good choice of food. Also books, clothing, garden furniture.
R. R.
Unfortunately Whisby looks like its closing down. The entrance is a bit of a mess, Cotton Traders looks like its leaving cos theres a big sale on and if you're looking for any bulbs other than daffodils then you'll be dissapointed cos theres not many different kinds on sale. Theres lots of plants outside but it all looks very run down. To be honest i think 3 stars is being generous. I'll be going elsewhere from now on.
g. k.
Seems popular full car park more of a mixture of garden and retail Cotton Traders etc Has a Cafe inside and out seating
P. S.
The garden centre part has improved lately. The café seems understaffed, so slow service. The play park is poor. Needs some money spending on it.
A. J.
Lovely place, lots to see and do. Tried the cafe on our last visit, bonus points, food was super and the hubster didn't moan once. Must have been good! 😁
s. r.
Amazing garden center and the lady who runs it "Jo" is a fantastic woman. We popped in to see her and she was very helpful and friendly.
S. H. K.
Rather limited garden centre, although the checkout lady was very nice.. Went there for lunch at the tea room. Quite disappointing. My pot of tea was no larger than the cup and was quickly stewed and tepid. No extra hot water provided with it - come on people, what does that cost?? My cousin's cappuccino was also tepid and totally lacked flavour. My ciabatta was OK but my cousin's lacked filling (I think she had bacon.) I wouldn't bother returning.
c. b.
A traditional garden centre that hasn't been pulled into the " fill the place with junk " bug that all others are going.
Sell plants and general accessories.
Staff seem to know what they are talking about and are helpful.
Passing it's worth a look, you never know what you will find.
D. H.
Good selection of healthy plants. Also includes Cotton Traders but that has a very limited selection of clothes.
P. C.
No longer a garden centre, more of a shopping centre, the fact that cotton traders have an outlet here means i give whisby garden centre 3 stars instead of 2 stars. What gardening space is left is ok sometimes but stocks do get low and it is very run of the mill offerings at the best of times.
N. W.
Good for all the family with soft play and animals for kids, lots of browsing for my wife and cake for me. Looks quite small but keeps on going one you're in. All staff were friendly and helpful too.
J. W.
Always find great books here
J. S.
Nice garden centre plenty to look at, a lot of plants look like they could fo with a little more care though.
J. B.
Really good place to take the kids. Nice garden centre but nice little animal park and indoor play barn too. Price has gone up a little bit worth it. My little one was occupied for hours.
J. G.
I liked the store but the prices are far over-rated. Especially the plant department and the aquarium department. I have given 5* due to the look of the store but not the prices.
L. G.
Not too big, made very comfortable in the tearoom, toilet facilities could have been a bit better, but they were clean
S. M.
Love this garden centre. It's our all time favourite one. Staff friendly and plants well looked after. Lovely cafe in a great relaxing surrounding.
C. N.
Love it here. Its not the largest place weve been but sometimrs we go for food. Delicious cakes. Loads of plants. Loads of fish for tanks. Theres a works shop the kids aleays want s book or activity to make. Theres bon marsh furniture
J. O.
Nice little garden centre, plenty of parking, has a good cafe and a terrace where you can sit near the lake in good weather. Proces comparable with other local garden centres.
e. s.
Love this place ..house plants/ outside plants r all very healthy..always come hear to get my garden looking fantastic in the spring and the kids love feeding the animals too ..
T. M.
Great place. We only stopped for lunch but the children and the dog were all welcome.
F. S.
This is an odd one. It all feels randomly flung together and there's a real need for quality signage to help make sense of the layout.
The pricing for the animal park and play barn seems unfair - my uncle kindly drove us and I had to pay full price for him to sit in the play barn cafe and drink coffee (which wasn't cheap, either!).
I'm never all that happy in animal parks and worry about the welfare. The weirdness of Whisby Garden Centre continued with interspecies pens and a total lack of signage. We spoke to one staff member who clearly cared for the animals dearly which was reassuring.
The tired and chaotic outside play area was a mix of different wooden and plastic equipment. We didn't have time to test it out and I don't think anyone minded!
Carpet was being laid in the playbarn right next to the equipment but there were no barriers or staff to ensure that children were kept at a safe distance. The carpet fitters were doing their best but it's not possible to work safely with sharp knives and solvents when toddlers are running around. One toddler fell and hit his head because of the work going on (I think he got his foot stuck in the adhesive?) and had a nasty enough bump to need an ice pack. It was really quite worrying.
That said, the soft play is nice with some unusual features including a "leap of faith" glass floor on one of the higher levels. The toddler area is bigger and more interesting than many, but it's still crawlable which makes it ideal for babies and younger toddlers.
The outdoor part of the garden centre was baffling. The butler sink mounted on an old sewing machine table and sold for £250 will stick in my memory.
All in all, it's a strange and confusing place but, as it's local, we may visit occasionally to use the play barn.
S. F.
Always enjoy Whisby. All round good experience with shops plants and of course the fish. Always enjoy having a meal coffee and feeding the ducks.
J. T.
Tea and cake by the lake very pleasant way to spend an hour. Shops children's area. Good sale tion of garden ornaments and plants.
L. S.
Stumbled acoss this place and looks very new. We were in interested in the animal park but there was very little information about what was actually inside. Walked out of Lakeside cafe after standing for ages whilst the one member of staff, at peak time, served a lady front of me, I allowed a gentleman to quickly pay for the drinks he wanted and then was totally ignored by staff who then went onto serve another woman who hadn't even been in the building when I was queuing.
c. c.
Enjoyed our lunch, the lady who took our order was very efficient and helpful, table service so no queueing at the till.
J. M.
Great place to browse or shop for garden . Butcher on site. Extensive choice in cafe for food and great options for kids. Why not visit the animals or look at the lovely views across the lakes !
J. G.
Plenty to look at, Bonmarche, Cotton traders, the works, Maidenhead aquatics and all the plants and gardening equipment also spend time having a drink by the lake, also 50p will by you a bag of food for the fish and ducks can easily spend the day there.
K. C.
The garden centre itself is good has nice cafe also childrens play park and indoor play but I think that has got a little pricey outside ponds with wildlife is lovely plenty of parking as well
E. B.
Lovely staff, great hot chocolate with evvvvvery thing on it and lovely lemon drizzle cake too.
m. a.

R. B.
Always a lovely place to visit
E. C.
Amazing place to visit!
J. C.
More than a garden centre as it has a Matalan, Cotton Traders, Aquatic centre, The Works and a great waterside cafe. Also on site is a children's farm and animal centre with newly updated buildings.
D. L.
Has got a few animals to see by staff seem like they don't want to be there. We asked about the concessionary disabled discount (mental disablement) but were told it was only for physically disabled with a blue badge. Children's outdoor play area was overrun by unsupervised elder children who bullied to the front of queues or hogged apparatus.
Indoor play area was acceptable but food and drinks are not amazing.
P. F.
Had a great lunch
D.
Super, independent garden centre with lots to see and do including a great cafe. Brilliant range of plants....and displayed creatively too.

Wonderful place for kids with the animals and huge outdoor area.

Had a very tasty lunch in the restaurant then bought a trolly load of very reasonably priced plants. Lots of bargains to be had.
D. H.
Great garden centre, sells normal garden stuff, has a aquarium, butchers, the works and a on site cafe. Also in the summer they have animals you can go and look at and a play park for kids
J. P.
They have aquatics and are really good price!
P. R.
Called for a cappuccino and tea cake, staff friendly, table service, reasonable priced. Would go back

J. I.
Beautiful place if you like spending time in your garden. There so much everything!!!
P. C.
Relaxing environment for a coffee break
C. P.
Typical garden centre the sell everything these days, with a butcher's, the works, aquarium products, cafe is expensive for what you get
J. P.
A lovely family venue Beautiful garden centre small but appealing .Good variety is small shops .Superb view of lake from restaurant windows which has a lovely ambience..good food too Small park with adorable animals at a small cost.
D. S.
Flat white how I like it and Raspberry and Coconut traybake was lovely with plenty of jam.Currently doing table service that was very efficient.
g. k.
Brilliant garden centre and fantastic kids play area, only one negative the air con is currently working I think in the kids bit so go wearing a tee shirt and shorts for the dad's lol 😄
L. C.
Very good apart from I think its not right at all that cats are aloud in side the cafe but dogs are not aloud in! if dogs are not aloud in don't let cats!! It can't be one rule for one and not the other very disappointing!
P. S.
Very pleasant lunch by the lake. Nice fresh food. Friendly staff. The garden centre itself was well stocked.
S. H.
Friendly garden centre with nice cafe. Cats and poultry roam around and all are friendly. Really nice atmosphere to have a wander and ponder your garden.
R. M.
Am excellent garden centre well worth a visit. The cafe is good and there is an animal centre for the little ones.
A. W.
Lovely staff great service food excellent
J. D.
Enjoyable visit, probably my favourite garden center in the area, felt safe in these difficult times on my recent visit, staff are friendly and prices reasonable.
K. H.
A very mixed bag, featuring bargains in some areas, poor value in others, some areas being new and clean, others looking very tired, some staff cheerful and knowledgeable, others surly and ignorant. If you are willing to take the rough with the smooth, it is well worth a visit.
M. B.
Very good variety of labts gifts etc plus lovely cafe / restaurant with tables outside overlooking the.lake lovely surroundings reasonable prices great ice cream from Kiosk lovely walks childrens barn and small Animal park i will definitely visit again
L. a. E. “. W.
A lovely walk round the garden centre and ponds - saying hello to the ducks - a day onwards to the very welcoming cafe. An hour, or so, well spent. Keep smiling
M. B.
Fab place and the cafe was located on the lake with lovely views and great coffee and cake

Nice place to visit wether your into gardening or not. A few shops within the complex with a nice cafe overlooking the lake. Try a days fishing or maybe bring the kids to see the animals.
S. P.
Great food at reasonable price. All table service now so leave plenty of time for order.
A. D.
More than just a garden centre - also food, clothing, books, crafts and aquariums. There's also a cafe and ice cream stall, so on a sunny day you can make an afternoon of it
K. R. B.
It's a great place to take the children or just a great place to chill and relax looking over the lakes there's plenty to do see the deer's staff are very friendly and very approachable say hi to jo and Michelle and Elliott and Kendall in the cafe around great day and well worth going
S. H.
More 'happier' staff needed. Play barn cafe was extremely busy. Waited over 20 minutes for dry sandwiches which we sent back.
K. S.
Great place to bring young children, small farm and play centre. Also good shopping area and cafe, lots to do
P. W.
Not just a garden centre has Lakeside Café plus Cotton Traders and Bon Marche outlets as well as good selection of plants.
L.
Great place to visit with our granddaughter
C. M.
Very helpful staff but didn't have what we were looking for even though they looked in various areas. Would definitely visit again and very reasonably priced.
G. A. J.
Enjoyed my visit today. After a good look round the centre enjoyed a nice breakfast in the cafe. My head is now full of ideas for my garden.
N. M.
Great place in all weather. Really helpful staff in the restaurant. Children loved the outdoor and indoor play areas.
G. A.
A bit of a hidden gem really . We have been driving past whisby garden centre for at least a couple of years and never really took the opportunity to pop in there until today - 19th April. There is something for everyone including gardening of course, aquarium centre, clothing for old and young and crafting paraphernalia ..!! We did notice there was a distinct lack of signage. Plus it was a little boggy underfoot in places but we have had a lot of rain of late. Our 16 month old boy Harry loved all of the animals - there were guinea pigs, chickens, goats, donkeys, wallabies, amongst other unusual animals. But the biggest surprise is that it only cost £2.50 per person to get in and Harry was free! I very strongly disagree with one of the reviews saying don't go there it's horrible it's deafly not..!! Four stars would've got five if there was more signage and information on the enclosures.. We will be back very soon ..
k. s.
Not your average garden centre. Great for the family
S. V.
Purchased some lovely bedding plants today, great value, staff very helpful, always a pleasant experience 😀
O. P.

Lovely place
Definitely going back

S. B.
Always good. Restaurant busy but well organised. Garden well stocked.
A. M.
Good food in cafe and choice of plants including vegetables. Kids are looked after well
J. N.
Was ok not much there. Waited 45 mins for 2 panninis and a slice of pizza the paninis were actually burnt baguettes and my 4 year olds pizza was so hot think it was microwaved
C. B.
Not only a garden centre but lovely walk around ourside. Will have to come back again soon.
