Reviews of Birchen Grove Garden Centre
H. H.
Love this Garden Centre. They have everything you can imagine for a perfect garden and at reasonable prices. I was looking for a few long and thick bamboo sticks online and couldn't find the right sizes. Found them here and they were in good condition and the perfect size for my garden project. You can easily make a day out of it and bring the kids along to help you shop as there's also plenty of fishes you can get to see and also buy for your pond or fish tank.
T. F.
Wide variety of plants here and of good quality. Massive outdoor section. Inside, there are a variety of pots, soils and other gardening items for sale. They also usually have a decent seasonal section and I've bought many Christmas decorations from here and they have been of a good quality. On the plus side, there is a lovely aquarium inside here too.

If I could give 10 stars I would. What a lovely place and a fantastic time here. From plants, to decorations to the amazing fish section. Wow. Definitely worth a visit. Coming back soon.
L. S.
Excellent garden centre. Been much investment in recent years. Much more varied stock now. Plenty of different departments. All the staff are knowledgeable about all their products. Very good tea room.
J. D.
A friend took me to this garden centre about a mouth ago and I have been there 3 times in the last 3 weeks. It every thing i want in a garden centre friendly staff and lovely cafe. I live in mill hill so its not so far for me. You should inform mill hill residents of where you are and what you have to offer.
C. R.
Amazing hidden garden centre, has a vast selection of plants. Helpful staff and the fish area is amazing. Also has a lovely cafe with tasty food.
S. K.
One of the best garden places in london. You can almost find anything and everything in this place. It’s lovely place and very big. Good for car park. Reasonable prices. Definitely would recommend and go there again.

A hidden gem! This was our first visit to Birchen Grove and what a lovely surprise. The café was great and there’s so much to see.
Thank you for the advice on how to look after my new phormiums!
B. B.
Possibly the best garden centre I've been to in London. Wide variety of plants and flowers.
Compost gardening equipment and other items.
Not had time to try the cafe but will do in future visits. Helpful friendly staff.
J. W.
It's all about the fish for us. The onsite aquatic centre is priceless. Feeding the Gigantic Koi fish is always a delight. Something for everyone especially the young ones. Great place.
b. r.
Pretty large with lots of garden plants, accessories and surprisingly an awesome aquarium space too. Loved it and will go again, for sure.
J. P.
This garden centre not only has wide variety of plants but also have a great collection of fishes.

We have been going to Birchen Grove Garden Centre for a long time now.
It has always been an excellent place for gardeners to visit and get their stuff but more recently they have done some really good updates and reorganised it so well to improve the shopping experience there.
If you like Roses they now have a great selection of David Austin roses.
They are keeping a nice selection of bedding plants and a good range of compost and other important stuff for the garden.
Even pleased to see their selection of garden pots has improved with good prices.
Beware of busy times at the weekends because the queues at the tills tell the whole story and their footfall through the garden centre has increased and it shows.
Highly recommended.

This was my first ever visit and I was totally wowed by the feeling of calm when I walked in. Such a beautiful set up I felt instantly comfortable. My friend and I chose to have lunch in the lovely little cafe. Both the food and the staff were lovely. Such a nice experience, I will definitely be returning there.
b. r.
Always get great customer service and information when asking a question. Never leave empty handed always find something to buy. Always excellent choices of plants.
R. B.
Lots of lovely plants and all you need to care for plants plus much more. To be honest we were passing through to visit the aquarium part but it was interesting enough to have a wander around to check out the flowers etc. Staff are friendly and helpful and there is a café bit too. Plenty of parking, for up to 2 hours.

Birchen Grove Garden is 28 mins walk from Wembley park station. Lots of garden plants to choose from flowers, small trees, fruits, shrubs, and veggies. Decoration and different kind of soil/ compost for different kind of plants. They have bbq grills Good parking space and toilet on-site. There is a cafeteria with a small play area for little ones. Social distancing is observed. If you love fish and aquarium they have a nice aquatic shop and kids will love it because they can feed the koi fishes, who knows how long those fishes live there! (£1 for fish food) so if you love gardening, plants and fishes this is for you.
A. S.
Great place to pick up stuffs for your garden. Prices are ok. Nice little cafe. Great fish shop to buy fish etc. Kids love it so much to see beautiful fish. You can buy fish food and feed selected fish. Cheap entertainment for children.
A. C.
Great place in NW9 for plants. Loads if variety, great choices, but a bit on the pricey end. However, you will for sure find what you want. The only reason I am not giving it 5* is because the staff was not really present, barely had someone we could ask for help. Other than that - amazing place, do go!
T. P.
Fantastic gem! It's impossible to leave without buying something for your outdoor space. Lovely little café, and the team is full of plant knowledge.
F. A.
Such a fun garden centre to bring the kids to, they have fish inside and you can pay a pound yo feed them
J. R.
A place where you have everything under one roof for your garden. Lovely plants, indoor and outdoor plants, flower plants and fruit bearing plants. I recommend this place.
G. H.
Our local garden centre and aquarium / fish shop. A great choice of everything for the outdoors, furniture, plants, ornaments.. you name it, not much that you can't get in here. Oh... And they have a great Christmas shop!!!
M. A.
Great people here, I came about my fish tank and they were very helpful and told me what was needed. They are so helpful and offer help with anything.
G. C.
The cafe provides great foods. Excellent services. I will definitely visit the cafe if I visit there again.
B. S.
Lovely garden centre, so much choice in plants etc.
Highly recommended
A. P. K.
Was a tad bit busy in the fish area so lowered rating by one. Otherwise love this place.
C. S.
Fantastic, in love with this place, in love with the coffe shop space, friendly staff...perfect!
D. A.
A friendly garden centre. Not too big. Well set out with really good variety of plants and pots
A. R.
Love this place!
Admittedly the plants are more expensive than some places, but they are better quality. Bought loads of strawberry plants this year and Birchen Grove strawberry plants already have flowers while others are just leaves. Also staff are always helpful and if they can't help will find someone that can. Great garden centre 👌
Q. F.
Lovely to go to the Welsh Harp area to see all these plants and trees. Slightly dear on prices but good experience. Great to see families there. There is a coffee place, an aquatics center and toilets. The latter were closed unfortunately due to covid. By the environment training centre, which looked interesting
K. Z.
A gardeners dream.
This Garden centre is spectacular as it has almost everything you could possibly or just want.
It has so many out/indoor plants , shrubs, trees, manure of all kinds of varieties. Pots, troughs, statues, trellises, water features.
All kinds of fish cold water, tropical, marine and everything you could need from a hobby to river/lake fishing. Clothes, a cafe etc.
Depending on the time of year it changes with the seasons.
Christmas is spectacular and you need money to buy everything because you want it all.
We bought 2 exotic plants today for a friend's birthday gift.
The purple/pink/orange spiky looking plant was £15.99 & the orange plant was £12.99. Both a bargain in our opinion and it beats the he'll out of a bunch of carnations 😂🤣
A. M.
Great nursery, huge selection of flowers, plants and outdoor furniture. Don't miss fish section with plenty of tanks to choose from.
B. B.
There are so many cute statues here 😭³
J. P.
Wide variety of lovely plants, definitely the best garden centre I have ever been to.
J. P.
Great garden centre. I recently discovered this place. It has high quality plants and very reasonable prices. You can also all sorts of gardening tools, supplies and compost, truly a one stop shop. I would highly recommend.
J. R.
Great place tucked away next to the Welsh harp. Went for a nature walk to do a bit of bird spotting with my elderly parents and stumbled upon this little gem whilst going back to the car park which is about 100yards away. They have an absolutely massive complex catering for all your gardening needs plus then some. They also have a huge Maidenhead Aquatics on site too for all you fishy enthusiasts. I chose to have a cup of tea in the cafe while my mum walked around to grab some bits for her garden. Another lovely touch to this place is that they also care for the wild and have bee hives just outside the main gates, don't worry though, they are hidden away off the main path! Great place, great service, would highly recommend a visit!
S. S.
What a wonderful place for the garden lovers. Amazing Christmas decorations, loved each corner
M. M.
You can buy your garden needs. Lots of parking space maidenhead aquatics is in here as well if u wanna buy fish for your aquarium.
I. M.
The best garden centre I have ever seen.Good prices and amazing stuff.
M. R.
Good sized, popular garden centre with great variety, and great aquatics area. I went on a Saturday (day before mother's Day) and as you'd expect it was pretty busy and there was a slow queue to get into the aquatics area. Look forward to visiting again
A. S.
Here is a sample of the beautiful plants I managed to acquire at the centre they are extremely reasonably priced but they didn't have much stock due too covid-19
L. B.
Really great garden centre. A pure hidden gem in the middle of North West London. The cafe staff were amazingly helpful and carefully catered to vegan and meat eater requests. Well done
R. (. F.
Love this place. Social distance and face mask right in place. Prices a bit salty, but I believe everything is going to go up.
l. k.
Amazing store if your looking for something it has all most evrything and all most evry plant u can buy such as the fly traps, pineapple, and coconut the only reason why its not a 5 star its because of the prices but that's really all.
C. W.
Great garden centre - really big footprint with diverse range of plants in the indoor and outdoor sections! My favourite garden centre in London by far!
A. G.
Great place sell things for the garden had problems finding but it the road before McDonald's blackbird hill sells fish tanks and different fish's flower pots and Ornaments well hidden but a great little place
O. I.
Excellent customer service the flowers and vegetable plants are so much better than B&Q slightly more expensive but worth every penny for the difference in quality and better customer service. And it's an independent garden centre and we should support these retailers more than the big retailers.
C. F.
Always pleased to be here. Great variety of healthy plants and flowers. Garden ornaments colorful and funny.
Great selection of food for wild birds.
Thank you to love this world taking care of the plants.
H. R.
Really nice place. Quality plants. Reasonable prices. Water display too as well as large area for fish and a cafe.
A.
This is a really lovely garden center! It is pretty big so has everything you could need and well-priced. Conveniently placed just a small walk from allotments and the reservoir. The staff were really lovely and friendly and they have taken a lot of precautions because of COVID- I felt very safe.
There is a really lovely and well priced cafe inside, which was really nice :)
B.
Beautiful garden centre where everything is well organised. Wide range of flowers, outdoor decor and plants. Prices are on the higher side so your bill will quickly add up to a lot if you buy many items!
s. k.
Beautiful place to get plants aquarium and artificial flowers!!
L.
Very friendly, lovely atmosphere, high quality decorations and very loved plants, shrubs and trees. All the flowers on sale actually seem happy. There was a huge selection of adorable Christmas decorations, fairy gardens and lights. The place is huge and covid security is taken seriously.
J. B.
Absolutely amazing selection of reasonably priced indoor plants. Very well organised, making it easy to find any plants you're looking for, with for example trailers in one section, prayer plants in another, ferns in another, aroids in another, and so on and so forth. All looked healthy and pest-free. Very interesting to look at the aquatic section and fish/terrapins.
B. G.
Nice place to take the kids to see the variety of fishes and feed some
Plants are lovely big variety but price could be re-look at
B. R.
We love Birchen Grove!
I'm a huge fan of bonsai trees and other indoor plants, and the selection here is top class. The only problem is that I always end up buying too much.
The little cafe is good for a coffee in the queue too :)
d. b.
Everything you need for your garden and a wonderful selection of fish from around the world
A. L.
Best garden centre in London. Huge and such a great selection of literally everything. The aquarium is unreal and I buy so much from here. They are so nice and always help me to my car if I need it. I just love browsing and buying plants here.

T. C.
Great selection of plants for outside and indoors. Prices are reasonable. Also has a section selling fish and supplies, as well as a cafe, books, sweets and clothes.
N. T.
Good choice but you have to watch the young male cashier. Charged us twice for hibiscus plant. Then argued with us when I challenged him. I just left the barrel and went home. Happy to say I went back next day was served by another friendly young chap. He was very pleasant.
S. S.
Pretty good and well laid out. Good size
C. L.

Its has.a wide selection of plants. A real mix of garden equipment, cafe and gift shop. It was a pleasant surprise. I will return as there is so much to see.
M. K.
It felt like a zoological museum. The range of the products is of superior quality.
D. S.
Vast garden centre covering all tastes - outdoor area updated in recent years so now very presentable indeed. Outdoor and indoor plants, all accessories, implements and large aquatic/fish section. Small cafe. Plenty parking... worth the extra mile as it's a bit out of the way.
P. K.
Loved this place as it has everything you need from garden to aquarium and visa vis

A nice cafe to munch when hungry.
All in all good place but bit overpriced hence 1 star less.
N. W.
Nice, socially distanced set up but if you aren't into your flowers and plants, you may find it a bit of a maze to actually find what you want. There were plenty of staff about for me to ask for what I was after and they were great The first took me to where I needed to go to and the second pointed me in the right direction (as she was in the middle of something). Very helpful.
A. P.
Good selection and the quality of plants is really good. The cafe inside is very pretty and reasonably priced
B. R.
Great garden centre to visit. There is also many different types of fish and wildlife. Many house hold decorations leading up to Christmas 🎄. A cafe, but it is closed now due to 2nd lockdown Covid-19.
A great place to visit if you are in Kingsbury NW London, the wonderful Welsh Harp park is next to the garden centre.

This place is incredible...not just a garden centre. You can buy clothes and shoes, xmas decorations, stationery, toys, sweets...the fish tanks section is fantastic and children are allowed to feed the fish. The cafe is really nice and has a great array of cakes
S. S.
A really lovely garden centre where you can peruse around for as long as you want without staff continually coming up to you you. There are a wide variety of both flowering plants and shrubs , as well as house plants which are moderately priced. Staff are really helpful if you have an enquiry and go out of their way to help you.
A. R.
Great stock of everything you need for the garden. A good supply of house plants too. Not only do they sell house and garden products, they sell clothes, shoes, house nick-nacks, books, fish... yes that's right! Fish! Amazing fish! Well worth a visit if only to look at the fish! it's the sort of place a family could visit together, or a place to take your elderly parents. You could easily spend a couple of hours there, and leave with house plants, garden ornaments, gifts. The cafe area has been revamped and food is great. five stars!
M. S.
It's been a life saver having the garden centre open ... I've needed soil, pots & plants which has all been available. There's been a steady selection of amazing plants & gardening accessories and the staff have all been very helpful too.
R. D.
Nice place to go and get your garden stuff
A. G.
Goes from strength to strength. Over last 18 months or more the look, quality of plants and overall cleanliness of the centre has really improved. Would highly recommend.
L. R.
I was very impressed with my trip to Birchen Grove today. The garden Centre looks amazing, very neat and tidy.
S. C.
Great Garden Centre tucked away, good selection of plants, shrubs and trees, reasonable priced, to suit different pockets. Lots of compost and soil varieties, again different grades for different budgets. Has a little cafe serving tea and cakes/pastries. Has a good indoor section too with tools and garden equipment, and even an "aquatics" section if you're looking to install a water feature. Nice friendly staff as well, who are more than happy to help.

The staff are friendly and helpful enough and there is also free parking.

Pleasant, usually quiet garden centre with reasonable range of plants - all the basics plus some more interesting, flowers, herbs, vegetables, shrubs, fruit trees. Good range of garden and wildlife supplies and next to the aquatic shop for ponds, fish, aquaria etc. Small cafe. Don't expect expert advice re gardening as staff are salespeople but all very nice.
M. M.

Fantastic range of all plants and gardening product. Everything does seem fairly expensive to me. Great place to spend an afternoon to get some inspiration, and then be prepared to shop around before you buy.
B. F.
Well stocked garden center, well kept plants, lovely pots. Anything for the garden from bedding plants to furniture.
A. S.
Lovely place, with 80 max as of 25/05/20, resulting in about a 20 min wait outside and another 10 at the tills. Social distancing applies, take some gloves and a mask all the same. Stay safe
S. C.
Great place big garden centre nice location friendly staff
M. R.
I love this place. It's my second favourite to Ikea. It has absolutely everthing you would need for the conservatory, patio garden from exotic plants, water fountains, Ceramics and garden furniture. Nice place to have a cuppa tea and a scone while your children pass time in the small childrens play area and look at the tropical fish and the huge Carp. Best garden centre in London area for sure! Love it!!

Polite and friendly staff who are good with the product knowledge. Nice cafe for a cuppa on the premises. One of the best garden centres around pop in and see there aquatic centre with hundreds of fish and fish products to choose from.
A. H.
Vast, impressive selection of everything you could possibly need. My boy loves the aquarium. Only shortcoming is the mediocre cafe, and they really don't seem to like dogs, but other than that you can spend quite a while here browsing all that's on offer.
C. S.
Love this place, amazing with friendly helpful staff.
K. A.
Love this garden center it’s my local. Doggy and children friendly too so nice to have a little wander with the dogs and have a little nosey round the aquatics store. We have loved going here for the wide variety of plants on offer.
Its a well developed garden centre with huge outdoor and indoor areas.
The adjoining aquatic centre kept the kids busy, though we did'nt buy anything from there
All staff were friendly !
C. T.
Reasonably good selection of herbs and very good selection of pots (and many other things but herbs and pots were my list). Huge car park. Friendly staff on what was probably one of their busiest days - sunny Sunday in mid-April. Ok cafe, range of garden tools and other random inoffensive garden centre gift stuff for sale here. Definitely worth a trip for nw London gardeners but you need a car. It's a long walk from any public transport.
N.
Great place, massive selection of plants and they all have tons of character not like the clone plants you might get at B&Q and Homebase. You can tell the staff love plants and look after them very well. Not the cheapest place but high quality.
B. F.
Beautifully laid out with so many varieties of blooms and shrubs, free car parking a bonus but prices very high.
M.
This is the place our family goes to get pretty much anything gardening related. Huge variety. You can get fish tanks, freshwater and seawater flora and fauna. And so much more. Recommend.
R. C. M. R. P.

My favourite place for garden essentials. Everything under one roof. Also good for fish supplies and the kids love feeding the giant koi fish.
W. L.
I used to enjoy having a break in the cafe but alas the prices have rocketed
Today I payed £1.30 for a tin of coke ,prices like this will frighten people away.
Yesterday my wife and I had meals which came to over £16 .
We will not be doing that again????!?
B. V.

Been here a few times, but absolutely love the changes to cafe. Lady behind the counter was so helpful with garden layout too, what a bonus. Definatley the best in the area
C. G.
Really nice garden centre, especially the Maidenhead Aquatics inside. Would get 5 stars if the fragile, breakable stuff was not tightly packed on narrow aisles in front of the exit and tills.
R. w.
Nice garden centre friendly staff
A. S.
The variations of plants and flower are good. Also, it has cool aquariums, which you shouldn't miss it. The only problem is most of their plants don't have proper instructions.
C. C.
Good for a visit and has great things for garden. Eating in small cafe is lovely but can be expensive. Also has a fish place which is very good.
C. B.
Great place for plants and aquarium you get great ideas here
M. I.
Hundreds of plants and fishes, beautiful and colours!
K. M.
Lovley place to go to have a quiet bit to eat and do some shopping for your pets or grab garden supplies. However some members of the staff are rude and dismissive. The food menu does not cater to food allergy sufferers. They do not have another milk selection for those who cannot have soya or dairy e.g coconut milk or almond milk (both of which aren't any more expensive or difficult to purchase). They do not have many dishes that are cheese free either. So if you have lactose intolerance you won't have much choice on what you can eat here.
G. G.
Nice garden centre next to the Welsh Harp lake with large selection of flowers and plants and a beautiful aquarium. Lots of parking space and cafe are on site.
