Reviews of Bradley Gardens

Another wonderful steak and fries washed down with raspberry blinis, sounds terrible but perfection! They seem to be able to keep their original staff here which says alot about the place. Picturesque surroundings. Wonderful puddings. Attentive staff.
C. J.
Charming, elegant gardens with cafe and restaurant. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The menu is wide ranging...something for everyone. We were advised that it is best to make a reservation for lunch inside the conservatory as it does get busy. No reservation is needed for lunch/tea etc outside the conservatory. There are sun shades/umbrellas with tables and chairs.
You can have afternoon tea; a piece of cake or an ice cream or a lunch. The choice is yours. The coffee is very good and if you wish you can have an alcoholic drink. We particularly enjoyed sitting outside in the sun admiring the views. This place is a gem!
There are also small shops there e.g. interior decor; gift shop; jewellery and handbag shop. At the entrance there is also a shop for gardeners - with plants for sale outside. We will definitely be coming back and recommend this place highly!

Cant believe this was my first visit here .Beautiful gardens with a huge orangery. We went for food and it was delicious. They also serve alcohol and if you want afternoon tea make sure you book 24 hours in advance.
There are a couple of shops there one for homeware and the other fashion and gift shop. They are expensive but lovely to look around .
Lovely for a couple of hours
M. R.
Lovely nursery, shops and cafe. Excellent scones :)
D. C.
I had a Sunday roast beef dinner here today, seriously good from succulent thick beef, roast potatoes, carrot, broccoli, peas, cabbage and red cabbage, served with proper gravey. Portion size was just right, staff were friendly and attentive, surroundings were fabulous.
The food is a bit more expensive than normal, but take my word it is worth every penny

I live nearby so visit for lunch about four times a year. The food is always delicious even if it is extremely overpriced (£4.50 for a small portion of fries if I remember correctly!!), always good coffee, and when it’s sunny then the outside tables are peaceful sun traps but the last two times we’ve been they’d ran out of scones and it was still lunchtime. Despite the lovely food (let’s ignore the price for now), it’s always hot and miss if you get the ‘good’ staff. They’re either friendly and attentive or absolutely grumpy, unwelcoming, and you’ll be waiting an hour for your bill. There’s no in between. And at the prices they charge, you’d expect top notch service. The other week - the last time I visited - the toilet stank to the point you could smell it in the conservatory, not good!
Edit: It's now £4.95 for a small portion of fries! And we're talking frozen chips dropped into a fryer here. I was going to book again this week as it's local to me, but I'll head elsewhere.

Really nice place but quite pricey. We didn't have a great experience. Had to wait quite a while for coffee which was initially lukewarm. One of the staff changed it. I think the staff were struggling to keep up. I recommend booking. When you pay top dollar for things, you expect the service to Co. E with it. Not sure I'd visit again to be honest.

Birthday Breakfast treat from Franky and Emily, quality of food perfect and beautiful surroundings
C. B.
A real gem. Enjoyed a really lovely lunch here. If you do - try the cheese soufflés as they are amazing.
L. C.
This time if the year not the best to visit a garden but must say food was excellent and good quality. Intend to go back in the summer
W. F.
My husband and I went for Sunday lunch and all I can say is it was absolutely beautiful. We both had the roast beef which just melted in the mouth and the vegetables were so fresh and tasty. Unfortunately we didn't have room for dessert but definately next time. The service was first class and very pleasant staff. We were in the conservatory which was delightful and there were plenty of tables outside too. All in all an extremely pleasant day and will definately return. Advisable to book.
T. W.
Had a lovely family lunch there today. The burger was amazing.
C. L.
Really beautiful .wide selection of plant's .food and service Excellent. a couple of nice shops too
B. U.
Very pleasant, comfortable garden restaurant near Wylam. Food is 1st class served by friendly staff. Book your table and go early to have a wander around garden and shops
E. D.
Absolutely beautiful garden centre with a wonderful restaurant too. The staff were friendly and chatty and the food was excellent - despite being super busy, the service was quick and the place was adequately staffed so no one seemed under pressure.
s. C.
Already put a post on about Bradley Gardens before, but what can I say 5 star. Summers day sun is shining having food in very tranquil surroundings. Fantastic
A. D.
Amazing little walled garden with a big cafe with outdoor seating.
Food is rather overpriced for what you get but I think you are paying for the environment, which makes it worth it!
Several onsite shops selling homeware, garden items as well.
B. S.
Lovely setting in beautiful gardens with excellent food and friendly helpful staff
L. E.
This is a lovely place to visit. The gardens are a delight. There is a lovely café and a couple of shops selling accessories. There is also a shop in the garden area selling garden related items. Its tranquil. The gardens are free to enter.
J. B.
Excellent food in the café and good service. Pretty popular at lunchtimes, so I'd to book if you have a larger party 4+).
E. M.
Lovely morning visit, tea and scones were excellent. Will definitely be back,
H. M.
Lovely place to buy plants and gardenalia set in beautiful gardens. Have lunch in the Glasshouse followed by a spot of shopping at Neptune. Expanding in the future once covid restrictions are lifted.
L. B.
Fabulous place i come regularly with friends food is delicious, lovely staff always helpful.
D. M.
Just for coffee in the glasshouse...all very nicely done and presented. Looks like a future meal on the cards here!
T. P.
Beautiful setting to have a bite to eat. With a lovely selection of food and drink. Would highly recommend for a lovely afternoon. Very nice staff too.
D. S.
Always busy and buzzing. Lovely food with a menu for larger or smaller meals. Staff Always friendly and helpful. Lovely spot with on site clothes and house ware shop and garden center.
B. H.
Fantastic venue. So pretty and a real pleasure to walk around even in the rain.
The facilities are first class and varied enough to make it a worthwhile visit.
The food was superb. It's a long time since I had a traditional English breakfast that didn't have beans and hash browns.
The staff are very friendly and the service excellent.
I'm already looking forward to my next visit
S. A.
Wonderful place , great food , lovely service , a really good place to visit with family or friends.
A. L.
Beautiful Sunday Lunch and lovely friendly staff, very good service. Will be back !

Lovely Christmas meal at Bradley. Service excellent as always.
J. W.
Beautiful gardens in a sunny spot with a good amount of outdoor seating, nice wine, tasty food, great breakfast and cake 🍰 …

Have had the pleasure of visiting Bradley Gardens a few times now. I love it! Gardens are beautiful, and the opportunity to enjoy a light lunch in this environment is fabulous.
On my last occasion, the shops were open which added a further attraction.
I am a fish lover and would recommend the king prawns, served with a good serving of French fries. My companions had burger (delicious) and chicken ( lovely)
Great environment, relaxing, spacious with lots of outside eating availability.
K. M.
I've only given Bradley Gardens Tea Rooms this rating because of their toilets. Their food and drink are good but for a very popular and we'll established eatery the toilets are something that needs improvement. Firstly there is only one female and one male toilet. The female toilet has a hand dryer that barely gives out any warm air and is so slow it's impossible to dry one's hands. There are no alternative paper towels. There was no sanitising of the toilets in the almost 2hr visit I had to the tea rooms today. The Ladies was in constant use with some customers having to use the Gents.
Disappointing
C. M.
A wonderful tranquil setting, with delicious food and hospitality - enjoy!
R. W.
Not the cheapest of places but one of the best. You get what you pay for and my full English breakfast was absolutely wonderful and worth every penny.
The staff are efficient, attentive, pleasant and well presented in logoed uniforms. The premises, set in marvellous gardens are exquisitely clean.
Most tables were booked for lunch and it was rather busy at 10:00 for breakfasts too.
Definitely a place to visit if one is in the area.
K. T.
Really pleasant glass house cafe in a nice setting surrounded by mature gardens with lovely plants. We stopped by for coffee and cakes. The frangipane tart and fruit scone were both delicious! Had a look at the food menu, but there’s very little choice for vegetarians unfortunately.
M. A.
Beautiful place great plants. Food very good and service very good
T.
Picturesque views of the gardens accompanied by delicious food served by friendly staff make for an enjoyable afternoon.
S. A.
Lovely afternoon tea ...lovely gardens and great shops
K. W.
Lovely gardens to walk around.
Shops and eating areas well worth a visit.
W. P.
Food and service was good
S. S.
Free parking and the gardens ,shops and café are all uphill and most pathways are gravely .
My sister took myself and our mam for a birthday treat of afternoon tea which was very nice . We each had a selection of finger sandwiches 3 cakes and a scone with cream and preserve . We all chose earl grey tea and also were offered free refills so we had coffees .
We will definitely visit again a little earlier as we didn't have time to visit the shops .
R. H.
Nice food, unfriendly service. You can't be charging what you charge if your staff are going to not engage with customers or make them feel welcome.
I appreciate most reviews are glowing, but on this occasion, the service was really unwelcoming.
I've just seen a chap called Paul Sewell had a similar experience a year ago on a review too, of the same guy that works here (middle aged and well dressed) who was quite rude too - miserable and unfriendly. Haven't been back and don't plan to.
J. W.
We have been several times to Bradley Gardens and each time greatly enjoyed it. The food is excellent. Last Wednesday we had afternoon tea, and look forward to returning. A few high quality shops and a lovely garden.
E. R.
Lovely sandwiches and soup. Attentive staff and great setting.
M. B.
Love this place! Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is always great and cooked with fresh produce. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. It's best to book a table as it's very popular.
C. B.
Me and my wife went here for breakfast. Had eggs benedict with salmon ... mmmmm, VERY tasty 😋
I haven't been here for many years but hope to be returning very soon. …
K. C.
What a great place to visit for food and drinks. The taste is amazing and the service is fantastic. Will surely be returning soon.
X. H.
Lovely food and atmosphere here
d. h.
Really lovely, a throwback to a bygone era .
Freshly cooked produce served in a delightful converted conservatory with friendly, helpful staff.
Only drawback might be for infirm customers as its up a slight incline from the car park but otherwise we'll worth seeking out.
R. Y.
The food and drinks here are faultless. Plus a nice surrounding and some normality after covid. However, the service was so terrible it puts me off going back. We got told to take a seat anywhere we wanted, then got ignored for ages watching people come in after us getting order taken. We didn't even get given a menu so had to look online. When I finally managed to get someone's attention I got an attitude asking us if we waited in the queue to come in (yes we did). Apologies were given, but the general attentiveness was terrible. An elderly couple stormed off because they were ignored for so long. Then we witnessed a male member of staff (possibly manager) talking to someone else like a piece of dirt for a mistake he had made. No wonder the staff are super miserable here!! It's a good job the food and drinks were good but staff were really all over the place and didn't seem to know right from left.
C. P.
Gorgeous place. Excellent food, friendly and helpful staff. A real treat to go there. You need to book well in advance as such a popular place.
S.
Wonderful gardens. Outstanding food of very high quality, portion sizes are just right 😋 would’ve been 5 stars had the scones came with clotted cream. Staff are lovely and welcoming. Will definitely be back soon. 9/10 …
I. D.
Lovely food in lovely surroundings, the staff efficient friendly and welcoming, felt very Covid safe, tables also available outside for those that felt more comfortable out in fresh air
A. T.
Delightful place. I love walking through the gorgeous gardens to the beautiful orangery. A different walk each time according to the changing seasons! The service is excellent and the food is amazing. Today I had my first cheese scone there and I don't think I'll ever match the taste anywhere else.... absolutely delicious. This was my third visit and it just keeps getting better and better.
l. k.
Love this place so glad it's open I booked into the glass house restaurant and mother and I had a fabulous meal today we had the smoked haddock risotto and there was fresh sliced spring onions and watercress a stunning meal . Thank you
L. G.
Autumnal gardens to walk around ....
With wind fall apples to collect too 😋
Delicious food delivered by diligent staff who were very attentive
We were served in the original hothouse where there was an ancient red vine growing gloriously
Thank you 😊
I'll highly recommend this perfect hide away garden and restaurant
Many thanks Lynn 😊
P. S.
Very nice food, exceptional prawns, service at the restaurant was great, met with a smile and such nice staff. Atmosphere was great, very sunny and warm. Perfect for a summer's afternoon. Unfortunately I have removed a star due to the lady in the homeware shop. Myself and husband felt she was following us around throughout. Not a pleasant attitude, terrible customer service. Such a shame after a wonderful experience in the restaurant. Note to self to not pop in the shop in future. Thank you for a lovely meal
S. B.
Fantastic location.. its a lovely tea room in a conservatory style overlooking very well maintained gardens..lots of outside seating too.
We have been coming here for years..breakfasts and brunches , lunches and also one of their events for dinner however although it's never been cheap.. feel the value and quality has dipped since recently reopening .
I used to love the home made meringues..large and chewy with lots of cream and strawberries...but they are now half the size and have very sparse filling and are not at all chewy..in fact very disappointing.
Our bill was just shy of 60 00 for two soft drinks, a tea and a coffee, a child's Apple juice and chips.
Two sandwiches, two cakes and one scoop of ice cream.
It was ok when the quality was good but just felt overpriced and quite frankly very ordinary the last two weeks we've called in for lunch.
It will be a long time before we go back.
C. S.
Lovely setting. Staff need a little training. I ordered a bottle of tonic water and it had proper bottle cap on it . I had to ask them to take it back and open it and I dont think the waitress understood my request.food nice but I do think its overpriced.

We could not have had a nicer Christmas lunch experience! Lunch was so beautifully presented..... from the moment we walked in. Each course was quality driven, the menu very well thought out. Some thing for every one.
We were celebrating in a big group..... Not easy. it was so slick!
The staff are first class! always friendly and accommodating, Just spot on! It felt so special in such beautiful surroundings.
We are coming back to do my Christmas shopping!
Thank you. The Broomley Bee Team.

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous !!! Lunch was superb, the finest Sunday lunch I've ever had. The service was excellent too. I'll definitely be back and will be recommending Bradley Gardens to family and friends. The gardens were jolly nice too !!
L.
Beautiful place and the food is absolutely excellent! Highly recommended.
M. F.
A really lovely place to eat ,I had king prawns in garlic and chilli sauce chips salad beautiful cooked and very good service,You must book as every table inside was taken,Gardens are lovely to walk around but garden ,and gift shop guite pricey,A very different place to visit,
M. G.
A hidden gem in Wylam. Old British ambiance. One of the best Sunday lunches I had in the recent past. Soups are wonderful too. Good service.
Only issue I took offence to was placing the next reservation card on the table soon after we sat down and telling that they want the table for 2pm. Thought it was rather crude. Need to learn etiquette. If that negative was not there, I would have given five stars.
s. s.
Wow what a lovely place. Gardens are beautiful and the Cafe area was spotless. Very professionally run.
Staff were friendly and attentive.
Coffee was great. Definitely add Bradley Gardens to our walking destinations list.
S. K.
Lovely day out .
Meringue , worth the travel
A. A.
Nice place. Nice location. And friendly people at the garden shop as well as the restaurant. Tables available both inside and out surrounded by beautiful nature. The negative side you cannot smoke cigarettes unless outside the entire place takes very long distance going back and forth
C. C.
Beautiful hidden gem with an amazing restaurant. Yet to have a bad meal there.
J. N.
Met a friend for lunch. Both ordered a sandwich, and coffee. The lunch itself was very nice. We were very disappointed, however, by being interrupted before we had even had chance to order, so that a staff member could put a reserved sign on our table, and to tell us that it had been reserved by someone else, (so we couldn't stay too long!). This did not make us feel welcome and we have decided we won't be visiting again. Can recommend the place only if you plan on a flying visit!
O. M.
Great setting, a bit off the beaten track. Converted old greenhouse building attached to the original stone hall. Lovely gardens with a nice stylish home interior and kitchen retail unit onsite. Food is always excellent and service good.
C. B.
Went with a group of 15 ladies and had a lovely afternoon. The food was all freshly baked and beautifully presented. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Beautiful place, stunning scenery and friendly, helpful people, thank you.
L. M.
Beautiful setting. Delicious food in the cafe/ restaurant and really lovely staff! Highly recommend. Book ahead on a Sunday I'd you're looking for a Sunday lunch.
L. H.
Beautiful walled gardens with plenty spring bulbs. A super Mothering Sunday roast menu.
J. W.
Had a lovey Sunday lunch at Bradley Gardens today to celebrate a family birthday. The photo is of a half eaten soft brown sugar merengue with berries and fresh cream, it was out of this world delicious hence it being half eaten before i remembered to take the photo. Would definitely recommend a visit 😊 …
L. A. A.
Booked for Sunday lunch however the pork option was not available. Red cabbage was dreadful and simply boiled in sugary water.....much too sweet to eat. No mashed potatoe, chicken option very dry. Average lunch overall which we gave 6/10
C. C.
Beautiful setting..very classy place, lovely food, varied menu, lovely staff, stunning sitting outside on a warm day.. And lady who runs the clothes shop is very friendly 🙂 perfect place for a nice lunch x …
J. A.
Beautiful food in a lovely setting. Friendly staff. Not the cheapest, but worth the extra
D. S.
Fabulous place. The greenhouse building is stunning. Food excellent and staff attention to detail was second to none. It would be great if there more gardens to see. I think it should be a garden, home and food experience. Maybe you could grow some fab herbs and sell them. This would enhance the culinary experience
M. M.
Beautiful place. Lovely sandwich and cake but the tea is not very nice at all. It was weak and tasted awful even after I squeezed the life out if it and not very hot either. Need Tetley!
M. H.
Had the Sparkling afternoon tea it was excellent all of the food was very fresh and tasted great fully enjoyed it.The only disappointed part was the young girls serving only saw one of them smile .The male who served us was very friendly. Come on girls give all the customers a smile or two .
J. S.
Fabulous. As always. Your staff are a credit to your company.
T. M.
Beautiful setting fantastic service food delightful. First time I've been will be telling all my friends to go. Fantastic
K. S.
Gorgeous cafe and food. Staff are lovely too. Gets a bit too hot in the conservarory when the suns shining. We were troubled with a lot of flies today. But love Bradley's and will be back.
f. f.
A very nice place to vist, the garden is undergoing a revamp. Plenty to see and buy. The cafe has a good selection of drinks, including speciality teas. I didn't try the food this time round, but from what I saw it looks great. Well worth a visit if you are passing.
G. B.
Great scones and coffee for morning snacks, or great breakfast choices Booking essential, (not the cheapest cafe but still worth a visit)
J.
Visited here few times now. Quieter weekdays busy on Saturday. Lovely gardens and conservatory cafe with outside seating area overlooking gardens. Food excellent but bit more expensive but quite upmarket. Can recommend
P. S.
Bradley Gardens is a hidden treasure. Lovely place to go for food and a little wander!. The staff in the glass house are so friendly and always happy to help, although they do run out of items quite quickly - but this shows how busy and popular it is.
The little gift shops are really lovely and I always manage to find something to buy. The staff are friendly and helpful apart from one lady serving in the Ladies clothing and bags shop on Saturday 16th March - She lets down the near perfect image of Bradley Gardens. Rang to complain and spoke to a lovely gentleman who dealt with this immediately. I hope it doesn't put me off visiting again?
L. S.
Lovely lunch on the patio, before a walk around the gardens and then a little look at the shops. Nice way to spend an afternoon.
M. J.
Had a lovely sandwich the staff were friendly and the grounds were amazing

At the Valentines night last night. What a lovely night. The ambience, the service and the food was of an exceptionaly high standard.Bradley Gardens has offered a consistently high standard for a number of years now.We are very lucky to have this hidden gem in our area.
v. C.
Absolutely beautiful little country oasis. Gorgeous boutiques and tea room with the best cakes I've tasted in a long time.
C. W.
Lovely gardens with a great cafe. Serves lunches and coffee, but is slightly dearer than similar garden cafes. Small selection of the more common garden plants for sale. Very expensive homeware shop on site.
K. L.
Excellent views, very well staffed and lot to choose from menu.
G. H.
Nice food, sit outside on a sunny day or sit inside a Victorian conservatory. Some outbuildings have been converted into shops to browse. Also a small garden centre with beautiful garden to stroll around.
D. H.
Not the cheapest eatery but well worth the bit extra for the superb surroundings , friendly service and well executed food.
Very busy sometimes but you'd expect that at a place of this standard.
J. B.
Food here is amazing and definitely worth what you pay for it. The environment is extremely relaxed and welcoming which is a fantastic setting to enjoy your meal
M. B.
Little piece of heaven. Amazing location, beautiful grounds, superb staff and delicious food. Love it. Add to that the fabulous home store, gift store and women’s accessory store and you could happily while away the day.

Totally agree with a previous review about the awful metal chairs outside. They had some lovely comfy ones but apparently these are in storage for use when the extension is finished and will be used there
A. N.
Had my favourite lunch smoked haddock risotto 😋 & Meringue to follow 😋. …
T. R.
Food is good, but a trifle expensive. Parking can be difficult due to being busy, which also means it can be hard to get a table. Service can also be slow. Lovely when seated in the sun.

Love this place, lovely food in the café & always come away with a treat for the garden. The lovely lady who runs the nursery has tons of knowledge & advice.
F. S.
Nice place to eat, overpriced for what you get I think. Poor machine coffee for the price.
R. B.
