Reviews of Beckworth Emporium
S. S.
Lovely place, seems to have gorgeous restaurant, but it was so busy that we couldn't have food. Some of the items there are stunning. But I wanted fiddle leaf fig and they didn't have much choice of them, there was only one plant by the toilets.
J. W.
Large parking area.
Sadly dogs are not allowed inside the building, so would suggest not bringing them as there's nowhere to park in the shade.
You walk into the food hall area.
Plenty of foods, frozen area and also a large selection of cakes.
Plenty of homeware.
Lots of candles, smellies and home decor.
Good outdoor plant selection..
The restaurant has been refurbished and seems to be to a high standard. Quite big too.
Food service was fast and there are plenty of staff..
Most meals average around £10, and afternoon tea for 2 is £32 for 2 people.
Toilets available.
Worth a visit.

Set in the lovely countryside of Northamptonshire, Beckworth Emporium, a garden centre with dining and beautiful things to browse, is definitely a place to have in your itinerary; it has that wow factor as soon as you walk in!
It's pretty large with plenty of parking spaces, I never imagined the existence of such a beautiful place where you can shop and dine at the same time.
With their Glasshouse Restaurant serving an amazing extensive menu including afternoon tea, I was absolutely impressed.
The service was slow in the restaurant, but the atmosphere was exemplary.
A must- visit indeed!
C. L.
Great sellection of frozen foods, cakes , pastries, meats ,pies, fish. Excellent cafe with a variety of foods drinks, cocktails and wines. Definitely had the wow affect when we walked in. Chocolates that looked like they were from Belgium and can be boxed up for Xmas not a typical garden centre. Excellent shopping experience.
C. M.
Lovely garden centre, the food hall was impressive, lots of new things to discover. We got the black pudding scotch egg and it was delicious! We also tried the game pie, again delicious and it was quite small which was unusual in a good way, so that we could have it for lunch.
We had breakfast there and the service was excellent and food delicious.
The Christmas decorations are nice, there is a nice selection of pots and plants, whoever the buyer is, they have done a good job on that front. The only thing lacking was I can’t remember seeing any clothing/ hats/ gloves for winter.

Had a traditional cooked breakfast here this morning. A sign warned they were short of staff but the service was amazing, with no waiting, not to mention the breakfast. Beautiful setting with lots of greenery all around. Fresh and frozen produce, garden centre and gift shop. All of high quality. Great coffee too.
V. J.
Always enjoy going here for the restaurant food and select some goodies to eat 😋 was stuffed that I virtually rolled out of there. Great service Did get to see some beautiful blooms before choosing to buy a fruit loaf on the way out! 😂 the daughter picked up some essential oils while there too.
A. S.
Had an absolutely gorgeous Afternoon Tea here today. A nice pot of tea with it. It never disappoints, and the staff are lovely and friendly. I would recommend it.
N. P.
We love coming here for Sunday lunch. Nice atmosphere and good food. The staff have always been friendly and we've never had to wait too long. Not super cheap but for what you get service and food wise it's affordable as an occasional treat. Also a lovely place to browse after/before your meal, brilliant for buying gifts !
L. B.
Lovely place to look around and browse, though most items are very expensive but seem like good quality. The cafe was very nice with very friendly staff and the food was delicious, with some reasonably priced meals and more expensive meals on the menu.
A.
Nice place .
The food was tasty .
The shop has a lot of interesting home supplies / decorations .
M. C.
Lovely garden centre to visit! Easy parking. We did have food at the restaurant but there was a half hour wait so be prepared- it was busy... they do give you a buzzer though so you can go for a wonder and it will go off when the tables ready. The food was good portion sizes. They sell lovely home decor pieces. Theres a nice COOK shop and deli, bakery counter too.
N. A.
This is an amazing place. Wonderful wide range of fresh produce, and wide selection of plants, and garden furniture. Staff are obliging and friendly. Nothing is to much trouble. Excellent food and attentive staff, great atmosphere. Lovely place to chill and relax.
H. J.
I visited Beckworth emporium for a ladies lunch and the food was amazing. The cafe was beautifully decorated and very modern, as were the bathrooms which have to be the best (and cleanest) ones I have used in a long time.
The restaurant is practical for wheelchairs and prams alike with staff able to accommodate any requirements easily.
Only improvement is staff could be slightly more attentive to guests needs to save having to call them over over
T. B.
Ordered a sofa set. Really helpful and friendly people. Delivery was great and on time. Had a couple of problems with the set but Beckworth were fantastic . Within a couple of days of reporting our problems they came out and sorted it for us. Absolutely great customer service. Not something you get everywhere else. Definitely recommend them.
k. c.
We started our fantastic day wandering through the garden centre to make our purchases , some of which were bulky and heavy but the staff were lovey and helpful. We then moved to the restaurant to enjoy lunch . Again all the staff were friendly and smiley . The food we had was very good
b. s.
Wow, Beckworth never disappoints. The resturant has been made bigger so no more queuing, even though the wait has always been worth it and the menu has been expanded. The food is always excellent, highly recommend the ham, egg and chips. The outside plant section has also been enlarged. Huge, amazing section of all plants at very good prices. Bedding plant displays in greenhouse are fantastic.
K. K.
Friendly staff that worked hard as it was very busy, and alovely venue but
Afternoon tea is over priced for what it is
Sweet treats were yummy, nice variety of sandwiches, but a little stingey on the fillings considering they are charging £32 for 4 sweet treats and a few quarter sandwiches each! By the time we got through half the sandwiches, the bread had started to go a little crusty and dry too
Bit disappointed if I'm honest
L. E.
First visit and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very good restaurant and a great choice of tasteful food. Very clean toilets. Nice display of plants for the garden and the food hall looked very inviting.
l. c.
Went for lunch and the food never disappoints. Was a 40 minute wait for a table though which isn't ideal as you can't book in advance. Wandered around garden centre while we waited though.
Love looking at the gifts and homeware. Just everything is very expensive.
M. P.
A well oiled machine. 10/10 perfection. Staff are polite and wonderful. Thomas was so helpful and courteous. Food you can tell is fresh and very reasonably priced.
D. H.
I highly recommend you go here, it's a gem of a garden center and it right on my door step and didn't know about it. Love the house plant section and there are so many other thing to look at. Farm shop is a big hit with me and my other half and the cáfe is also lovely.
J. B.
Stopped in at the farm shop for fresh veg. Great quality and friendly staff. Had a cup of tea and cake which was lovely. Definitely be back
D. C. (. C.
Visited the garden centre, such a brilliant variety and choice of plants. A little more expensive than some places but worth it for the better quality of products. If you are looking for something special then this is the place to come. Didn't have time to visit the restaurant so will save that for my next visit.
P. M.
High quality experience; restaurant, food and service are exemplary. Great outdoor living experience and we didn't even get to the plants. A cut above your normal "garden centre"
P. R.
Wonderful afternoon tea for two, very indulgent I'm glad to say, great service and plenty of staff both in the restaurant and garden centre, we finished off with a few luxury items from the shop.
S. B.
We called in today for lunch after a regular visit to Northampton. As it was Good Friday we were doubtful as to whether or not we would be able to get a table so we had a plan B in place which I’m happy to say was not required. We got a table straight away and the service was efficient and friendly. The food was lovely- I had the falafel pitta bread and my hubby had the emporium omelette… yummy! Afterwards we chose some bedding plants and I want to give a shout out to the lovely lady working in this section. She saw me browsing and chatted to me about my choices and gave me some good advice. How great to see someone who clearly enjoys their job and is totally customer focused. We have visited the Emporium since it first opened and was like a hidden gem and even though we have moved to Rutland we still love to return. It’s completely different now and even more fabulous.
C. W.
Great meal. Very filling. Staff very friendly. Shop just as good. 1st time for meal. Would definitely go back.
J. B.
A pleasant shopping experience in this garden centre as the staff are great. Love their deli and cake counters plus we had a lovely lunch in the restaurant.
M. V.
A lovely place to be. I would like to thank the staff for their kindness and particularly to Mags who let me sit down for a while in the Outdoor Department and even gave me a bottle of water to drink
H. I.
Great place to visit . There is new restaurant and garden centre with nice food shop.
J. P.
We had a lovely lunch/ afternoon tea. Lovely staff and amazingly clean loos. Food in the restaurant wasn't cheap but it was very nice indeed. Asked for a savoury and sweet box to bring some home and it was provided with no problem. Very good indeed.
E. 1.
Called in today for some lunch. Lovely clean well ran establishment. reasonably priced for the top quality food which we received with great service from smartly dressed staff.
Very impressed with everything. Even the toilets where new and spotless.
If only other business where run like this.
We will be coming back.
A. S.
Had tea for two ,wow very nice all very well presented. staff helpful and considerate x
J.
Always love this place. We came for afternoon tea, it was really busy but we only waited for a table for about 15/30mins. Food was delicious, service is great.
P. R.
Had lunch today. Fish (or should I say whale) and chips. Delicious. Lovely staff. Very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately I felt faint during my visit to Beckworth but I can't praise enough the care given to me, particularly by Virginia. She stayed with me until I felt better and a friend collected me to take me home.
Thank you Beckworth for my lovely lunch and thank you Virginia (and the other people who helped) for taking care of me.
See you again soon 🤗
K. V.
Such a beautiful place. The restaurant is wonderful and they have such a good range of choices. It’s a bit of a drive for me personally, but so so worth visiting!
B. M.
Well worth the experience. Staff were friendly, polite, showed full consideration for caring towards customers needs. The food was prepared and presented that also shown the chefs caring towards customers expectations. Wonderful. We'll done.
L. “. A.
Very nice garden centre! All be it, a little pricey, you can't deny the quality of goods on offer! Bought a few bits from the delicatessen, sadly they looked better than they tasted. However, despite a long wait for the restaurant and unexperienced staff, the food was very much worth it! Rather a mixed bag unfortunately, but glad I went none the less!
S. P.
We had lunch in the restaurant, it was served hot & quickly, the staff were friendly and helpful, of course it was delicious :) there is plenty to look at such as Valentine or Easter gifts, it rained so didn't go outside
J. T.
We'll worth a visit if you're in the area. Recent refurbs look great. Excellent cafe. Great choice of food in the shop.
R. H.
Very spacious dining area. Food very delicious and plentiful for a reasonable price. Waiting staff very friendly and efficient.
V. S.
Taken to lunch as a birthday treat and how wonderful. Great food, service and atmosphere. Time spent browsing and shopping. Definitely a go to venue.
J.
Fabulous shop for gifts and a great atmosphere. Lovely staff particularly the man I asked a question too, he went to check and came back to find me and was really friendly (sorry didn't catch your name). And the lady Kay who helped me pick chocolates, she was so lovely, friendly and extremely patient and helpful.
J. F.
Such a lovely place. Great gifts and restaurant. Would love it if you could order the frozen foods for home delivery.
S. E.
This year's tree collected!
Good selection, reasonable queuing and 1way system.
Only flaw was they weren't offering a tree type we had had previously from them(only offering potted version's)
And I think they have gone up a bit in price.
Nevertheless a lovely place to visit with friendly helpful staff.
A. J.
Had lunch and purchased a new rattan dining set. All in all a pleasant experience.
s. m.
This place has been extended and refitted since I last visited. The restaurant looks fresh and modern and has greatly increased its capacity.
The menu has mostly stayed the same and the food I as good as every. We had lunch, turkey and brie Panini for my wife and gluten free burger for me. Both come with chips, salad and slaw. All very nice. The chips were surprisingly hot, meaning no sitting around before reaching our table.
When we ordered, we asked for our drinks and tap water. The tap water never Reived, and there was not check back from our waitress, so no chance to put this right. Not the usual level of service from Beckworths.
k. C.
Lovely garden centre. Large and well spaced out with lots to look at. Came away with some healthy looking plants and herbs
D. C.
Fantastic ranges of food and drink, gardening items and currently a large Christmas section too. Lovely large restaurant with great pager system in place where they take your name, give you an estimate of how long the wait will be, and give you a pager. This means you can browse the shop while you're waiting & they'll buzz you when your table is ready! Brilliant 🙂
A. M.
Absolutely beautiful beef chilli and jacket! Also afterwards the ladies bathrooms were the cleanest and most well kept I've ever seen !
b. t.
The way the shop is presented makes you want to buy from here. The products in the food shop although initially might look expensive the quality is very good.
It has changed since my last visit, everything has grown. More seating for food, car park bigger and better, the outdoor living stocks a larger range of furniture.
It's a really nice place to visit if you have never been before or it's been a while since you last went
D. S.
Really nice place. Fantastic eatery, food delicious. Homeware, garden centre, outdoor living.
T. W.
Had a grate day out with the wife a went to dinner what a lovely dinner we had and a nice lemon marang pie for desert all should go and have dinner there and at a very reasonable price
T. M.
Lovely restaurant serving great food. The Food Hall has an amazing variety of fresh fruit, veg, meats and cakes. The garden centre side has expanded and is of a much higher quality than I've seen during previous visits. The staff were all very helpful and attentive. Overall, a very enjoyable morning out.
R. M.
Excellent and you can get anything for gardening and have a meal as well. Brilliant
M. P.
Had a lovely lunch and a very pleasant waitress thank you
S. W.
Absolutely wonderful experience from the restaurant to the farm shop to the garden centre just fab
L. H.
The restaurant is excellent, both the service and food. Can't fault it. It was so good that having had an early lunch with a friend, we returned later for coffee and cake/desert before going home. Be prepared to queue, it's worth the wait.
The plants in the garden centre are well looked after and plenty of staff on hand to answer queries. A good choice of plants and average prices.
Have been before and I would go again.
T. Q. T.
Nice place to have a english breakfast at the weekend
K. P. (.
It's a lovely place to go for a spot of breakfast. Great service.
K. W.
Beautiful Garden Centre with lots of variety. Helpful staff and lovely afternoon tea!
G. G.
A very extensive garden centre with super gift shop, deli and restaurant. There's lots of choice here and definitely worth a visit especially for unusual gifts.. 👍
L. M.
Quite disappointed, went today at 1pm for lunch 4 adults, was told to take a pager and the wait will be 1hour!!, we were told to browse the shop, for an hour !! Are you joking! I could easily see that there were plenty of free 'large tables' as well as small tables and booth's, I'm not sure what has happened but I know a lot of people declined to wait, when the restaurant was smaller there was a shorter wait. Such a shame
L. C.
Delicious food at the restaurant, overwhelmingly great choice at the supermarket and a beautiful selection of flowers in the garden centre. Will definitely be back!
M. S.
Excellent garden centre. Restaurant extremely popular, have beepers now so no long queues waiting for a table.
S. T.
Lovely place to visit, beautiful plants great delicious food with excellent service.
R. F.
Been here twice. Trainee Lauren served us this visit and was really polite, cheerful and attentive.
The restaurant is really nice in the glasshouse. The chai latte is really good and the food in general is really tasty.
S. P.
A lovely garden centre with a wide range.. amazing afternoon tea ! Just a shame the ice rink hasn't been opened again this Christmas but hopefully next year
T. C.
An excellent destination shopping experience. Large range of luxury foods, giftware and plants. Restaurant has a no booking policy at present so inevitably you may need to queue at peak times. Food and drinks are pricey but tasty.
D. C.
Lovley Place to have lunch, Wonderful service and very good allergy Advice. Would definitely recommend.
B. A.
Great coffee and cake in the restaurant, the outdoor furniture area is well worth a visit too!
D. W.
Had lunch 😋 food was fantastic. Staff very friendly . Range of produce and plants to buy is very good 👍
A. P.
Really nice and the food was amazing! I would definitely go again. Service was good and quick and has fresh homemade food for sale too 😁
R. T.
Went for tea for two which includes triangle sandwiches and cake's which was all very nice. It was very busy but it was a Friday.
m. p.
Only one vegan option and toooo many olives in it...besides that great.Puddings FABULOUS
S. C.
Gorgeous food in the restaurant and the service, even though we queued to get in and it’s worth waiting, was impeccable… thanks goes to Amber fantastic customer service … The deli was brimming with great food and garden centre part was lovely. Need to connect the outdoor furniture directly to garden centre because we nearly missed this. Try the hot chocolate twist if you like chocolate bread and butter pudding mmmmm
C. W.
Superb lunch, glasshouse lovely. Service fantastic. Will definitely be back again soon.
S. Q.
Healthy, fresh and delicious menu, recommend the platters. Service OK but beautiful surroundings in the conservatory and ice skating at Xmas.
T. K.
Bought some lovely Bramblecrest loungers from Ethan. Great service and excellent team.
A. P.
This a great place to have afternoon teas, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Wait times are not too long and the staff are very helpful.
M. B.
Very nice food was busy but plenty of staff and good service
G. A.
Excellent. Not cheap but wide range of quality foods, restaurant/coffee shop and garden centre.
J. L.
Easy to park and level for pushchairs and wheelchair access. Large entrance / exit. Only used restaurant so can't comment on garden centre or food in the shop. A slight wait for a table but not too long, considering we visited just after 12. Waitress very curious and friendly. Food arrived promptly and was delicious! 5*. Had Vic sponge for dessert which was very light and my daughter had the choc roulade.....also very good 👍.
M. T.
Food was really good and the garden centre had nice good quality items
j. e. t.
A good spacious place to visit. Enjoyed a Vegan sausage sandwich and a good look around. Suprised the waiting staff didn't wear face coverings. We are still in a pandemic
J. M.
Brilliant place. Friendly staff. You can go shopping for garden here as well as having a farm shop on site and able to buy all sorts of great stuff. Love this place. Will come back next time I'm in Northamptonshire
M. P.
Lovely place to be food was delicious staff are very friendly good hospitality service
F. v.
Had afternoon tea with my wife. Everything was very nice except for the coffee which was so week I could almost see the bottom of my cup. @ £3.20 I would expect coffee at least as good as café Nero.
J. A.
Excellent food hall. Got everything we wanted.
H. K.
Had afternoon tea - very busy when we got there but they have a good system in place to manage this. Food was tasty and service was so great. Will definitely return!
S. a.
Excellent customer service. The place looks great. The food was delicious and we didn't wait long for our meal. The staff ensured we had everything we ordered and they were kind and friendly. Highly recommend it.
S. C.
Good selection of veg, fruit, breads plus a large range of good quality frozen meals and ingredients. Butchery meats and pre-prepared meats on site plus a white range of other specialist foods and drinks, wines, beers and ciders.
The restaurant is now open and very popular.
All very well organised for Covid-19 social distancing restrictions and hygiene. Trolleys are back inside again to the left of the entrance.
There's also a good range of fancy goods, cards etc and garden stuff somewhere.
This is a well-run site which is always well set out, so you can visit and shop with confidence as we have been for some time. Busy on the weekends as many people come for a browse!!
R.
Really nice family lunch. Served by Alannah and Esme, we were happy with the service and food. Good menu choice, including vegan options. Spacious environment and contemporary décor makes it a pleasant dining experience.
P. S.
Seventh year in a row for Christmas Dinner, always pleasant staff, friendly, welcoming and reassuring in the current climate. Food was excellent and service prompt and professional, thank you. Already had the track and trace app so not a chore or issue to scan in as requested and rightly so. Tables well spaced and I felt happy with all Beckworth have done to keep both us and their colleagues safe. Special thank you to Carole and Virginia (?) for looking after us. Merry Christmas.
Y. M.
Always a great place to visit. Food is excellent, good quality, maybe a bit pricy but worth it. Great selection on the deli counter and butchery.
Restaurant is excellent, always great food and well presented.
L. G.
We love the garden centre anyway, the quality of plants is always fantastic. We went for afternoon tea today for the first time since before lockdown and it was lovely. Just the right amount of everything. Delicious. The new cafe is spacious and airy so there is little need to be anxious or concerned. A pleasant experience all round.
l. r.
I used to pass the sign for the emporium almost daily for years, yesterday we actually paid a visit.
The sign on the road I used does not give this place the credit it deserves!
I was really surprised at how nice this place is, and how large.
All very neat and tidy, I actually enjoyed my time there. That means a lot being a bloke who hates shopping .
Very popular place, loads of parking space and a large and very popular restaurant that simply has to be used. Has to be said it's not the cheapest place to go, but I can't see how you can have it both ways , my hats off to the staff who were all excellent. We'll be using this place a lot from now on, even if it's only for a bite to eat.
P. C.
Love going to Beckworth. Lovely lunch as always and service always excellent.
A. M.
We decided on late Breakfast out and went to the Restaurant at Beckworth Emporium. Really impressed with what has been done there. The eating area is airy, light and well laid out. The food was excellent as was the service from the attentive, friendly staff. Full Marks!
R. S.
This is a really lovely place to visit - ok its a little pricey, however the extra is well worth paying. Meals are well presented - and tasty. The breakfast, served to, 11am, is great. Lots of outlets like Joules - my wifes favourite - and unusual gifts. The food department is too die for - "a Harrods in Northamptonshire" From local meats sausages and pies to many cradt beers. Visit soon - you won't regret it.....
t. c.
A very pleasant place to while away a few hours. We went for the afternoon tea which was very nice. While we were having the afternoon tea we saw the sunday dinners coming past and the most wonderful yorkshire puddings in all humanity. I almost came over all Withnail and I there. So we returned for the sunday lunch. What you have in reality is a glorified garden centre that has sussed that people love a bit of quality grub and are prepared to pay for it. I docked a star as a lot of items are on the expensive side. You know the drill from your farm shops where they go to iceland and get a load of smiley faces and pop them in their own bags and double the price. Or they get a handful of sorry looking sausages and put a local butchers name on and charge you like a wounded rhino. Two bags of chunky chips and some quinoa salad? that will be 50 sovs guvnor. One plus side is that the JD sports clad three legged pit bull owner types with dubious looking roll up hanging out of the corner of the mouth are thin on the ground. A decent place for decent folk!
J. W.
Fantastic Christmas lunch followed by a walk around looking at all the fabulous food and gifts for sale.
Mags and Aluson in the outdoor living were really friendly and informative.
C. R.
Staff slightly brusque but overall welcoming and well mannered, great atmosphere, very clean and well heated. Social distancing enforcement could do with a small amount of work but food was lovely and up to expected standards. Would recommend! Not necessarily budget friendly but worth it.
T. D.
Unfortunately the kitchen lost our ticket so our meal didn't arrive. Once we queried where it was they cooked it quickly and were very apologetic offering a free drink each. The food itself was very nice as it always is but the cappuccino coffees were only luke warm.
S. B.
Beckworths is lovely, but I went yesterday and asked for one meal and they had run out of that so asked for another and they had stopped doing my second choice. I was not offered any kind of compensation. I do think the menu needs a revamp as hasn't changed in all the time I've been going.
S. S.
We had lunch in the restaurant and the service was exceptional, polite staff excellent food choice, highly recommend
P. B.
As always lovely food and friendly service.
C. B.
This was our first visit since Covid19, we have visited Beckworth a lot prior to this. We felt that the directions to the Restaurant were not clear enough so we were in the wrong queue like a lot of other people, I did inform them on the day. We had Afternoon Tea which was lovely as always but could have been better if the sandwiches had been made with brown bread, we were not given a choice so I wrongly assumed it would be brown bread, I will know next time ! I also think there could be more choices for the vegetarian option, we had 3 and the traditional one had 6? However we felt comfortable there and enjoyed our afternoon.
A. S.
Lovely please, the restaurant staff were very nice indeed. The food was delicious and then we went to the shop to purchase some items, the checkout staff were all lovely as well, all areas were covid secure and plenty of foot operated hand sanitising stations.
If I had to pick one downside (and its not really a downside), its that I miss that there was no ice skating this year 😔 but that's no reflection on Beckworth at all after the 2020 we have had.
R. C.
We had lunch today in the new restaurant. Very nicely laid out, covid friendly. Food was excellent as always & table service was superb. 5 star treatment. No hesitation in recommending this venue & we will be going back very soon.
P. S.
The food shop which you visit when entering the emporium is filled with lovely fresh ingredients which taste delightful as well as homemade frozen foods which also taste nice (but are expensive). The new garden kitchen restaurant is very large and busy being quite noisy which I didn't enjoy as much as well as their being a large queue to enter the restaurant. Despite the large queue we were seated relatively quickly and our drink orders were taken quickly but were quite slow to be brought out. We then ordered our main meals which took 20 minutes to arrive and although the food was very nice and had generous portions the waitress got one of our orders wrong as we were given an omelette with incorrect ingredients on. We then sent this back and it took a long time for the replacement to arrive. In the end it was quite nice but not amazing. We ordered the bill which arrived immediately and then paid and left.
Overall the staff were nice and helpful and maintained hygiene impeccably; all staff wore PPE, toilets were regularly cleaned, Menus were cleaned after each use and also foot pedal hand sanitisers were available which were far more hygienic. I would recommend eating here but maybe go at a quieter time.
P. W.
Nice place. Lovely environment. Breakfast was OK but room for improvement considering you walk past the bakery selling artisan bread but none of it is offered on the menu.
K. C.
Loved that chutney chicken burger and I only asked for a caramel latte but I got a caramel latte with a whole mountain of cream! Really good and I'll definitely be visiting again very soon
M. E.
Afternoon tea was great.
Thomas have us top service.
E. A.
Went there with the wife for lunch on a Saturday for the first time. Really liked the place! Lots of nice expensive food and gifts, Christmas stuff mainly but a great selection of house plants. Outdoor plant selection was limited but it is out of season. The restaurant is nice and warm with lots of tables. Very quick getting a table and all very COVID conscious. We both had a coffee and a sandwich, all very tasty. Was getting busy by the time we left at 13:45, probably the popular afternoon tea crowd! Will deffo be returning.
E. L.
Nice place to have a light lunch. They have moved the restaurant to much larger area at the back a bit luke a huge greenhouse or marquee. Food is usually good quality and did not disappoint on this day, felt safe being seated apart from other tables in Covid times. There trace and track app they want you to scan was not practical and did not work when we tried so manually wrote details down which is straight forward.

Great food and great selection of plants
M. T.
Fabulous experience at Beckworth. Hadn't been there since the overhaul and it was worth the trip. Breakfast with the team. My coffee was Luke warm, but not a great shakes.
D. L.
Beautifull place lovely cafe. Beautiful trinkets nice staff. Toilets impressive. Bought a chocolate sponge to take home. Turned out to be coffee and stale. Love the place hate the cake. Shame
J. H.
Lovely new restaurant and plenty of tables. Food is always delicious. Found it very hot and wasnt sure if they had installed air conditioning. But it was particularly hot today. Wont stop me going back.
R. S.
Beckworth Emporium has always been popular but since the refurbishment it seems even more so.It has the benefit of a nice size restaurant ,a food shop including fresh counters and a well laid out garden centre including flowers ,plants stone decorations and garden equipment. It is obviously popular because because of this diverse offering.Definitely a place to visit enhanced by a very friendly and helpful staff.
P. P.
Fabulous place, could spend half day there, so much to see. Like the new restaurant layout. Great gift idea's
M. S.
First outing to eat out since relaxation of Covid rules...we were able to use our afternoon tea voucher at last. A great tea with fresh sandwiches and cakes. Should have asked for a fresh pot because it did take 30 mins to be served the 'eats'.
A good experience with a table near the door so plenty of fresh air.
G. D. S.
Warm hospitality and great food to bye and eat🙂
H. M.
Lovely garden centre, restaurant very nice, food and staff excellent.
F. S.

Lovely place and great lunch.

The temporary Garden Restaurant was a very pleasant experience with the same great food you would expect from the emporium.
So, visited again today 30th September 2020 with family. We enjoyed the lighter lunch. After bring sorely tempted by the sharing platter, we eventually opted for; one Beckworth burger (for the larger appetite!), one ham hock quiche Lorraine style tart (the Backworth Tart!) which was very decent. Myself I enjoyed the Beckworth Salad, four separate salads, each with their own dressing on a plate, topped with Piri Piri chicken & red pepper with a wasabi mayonnaise. All I can say is Wow, Wow and Wow! Fantastic. I will post a picture so you can see.
H. H.
Backworth is always a worth a visit. Restaurant good for meals, afternoon tea or just coffee and cake. Wander round the food hall, garden centre or general merchandise. It's all of a high quality.
P. P.
The service in food hall is still not 6 stars, but better than it was
K. M.
An absolutely wonderful refurbishment.Loved the contemporary look the restaurant has now,and it hasn't lost its charm.Food delicious.Would recommend the Superfood Salad (first time trying this dish).Great choices from menu.Attentive, friendly staff also.Cant wait for next visit.

Visited today on a friends recommendation. Went to the ‘outdoor living’ part and had a nosey around at garden furniture, which we were interested in, and was pleasantly surprised at the variety and the reasonable prices. Met a very nice man who was very pleasant and was in no way trying to hard sell anything. He was very helpful and informative. We drove home 15 miles, had a measure up, and drive straight back and placed and order for £1100.00 worth of stuff.
Really, really pleased and to top it off, I googled what we had bought only to find the exact same product from John Lewis / Waitrose is £1399.00.
Thoroughly recommended !
R. J.
Excellent food, a bit of a wait for it, however, the restaurant was heaving!
J. W.
We have been long term customers of Beckwiths. Today’s visit we found the service was as good as ever. Unfortunately we found the menu to be the same as always, and the food quality below your usual standard. We had steak and kidney pie, the pastry was tough and heavy, chips not your usual standard and vegetables disappointing, consequently we left most of the meal.
D. J.
Really nice place to eat lunch, food is good and reasonable priced. Plus the food hall is great. Been coming here for years. Plan to have Breakfest and afternoon tea too. Looking forward to the Winter ice skating too.
R. E.
Worth the 20 minute wait. Had a light lunch sharing platter. Absolutely stuffed. Very tasty and good value
T. C.
One of Daughter Stacy's 40th Birthday treat.... delicious
S. S.
Lovely place to have lunch, food was delicious, and the shop is well worth looking round!
A. A.
Stunning place. Also food is amazing
E. L.
Very expensive. Many people there purchasing, so there must be be no shortage of money for some people. Very pleasant dusplays
L. B.
Loved the sharing platter not so keen on the sherry trifle roulade couldn't taste any sherry was disappointed very sweet . On the whole we all enjoyed what we ordered pleasant lunch for my granddaughters birthday
R. A.
Fantastic shopping experience. Will definitely be going back.
L. G.
Well what a fantastic gem.... my friend and I both had an amazing lunch... the team were all so friendly and looked like they really enjoyed their work.
I have to say the toilets are beautifully clean and it was the same throughout..!
The team were very busy and so efficient / but we weren't rushed...people patiently waited to be seated, that speaks volumes for the quality of food.
We will be visiting again soon..
F. G.
We had a great experience at Beckworth Emporium. Our breakfast was delicious and the staff were attentive but not in your face. Covid measures are strictly adhered to.
We would highly recommend a visit.
J. T.
We had lunch in the restaurant today. Very good queuing and social distancing in place. Excellent menu and service. We then went round the shopping area- some delightful quirky gifts! A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon 😁
A. W.
Excellent garden centre, restaurant and food store. We enjoyed afternoon teas; one was gluten free.
M. D.
Had the most delicious brunch today. Superbly cooked fresh food.
J. B.
We enjoyed our visit today. A lovely tasty breakfast with excellent service. The new shop layout that really works well.
T. K.
Staff were very polite, food was amazing ams fresh, great value for money And atmosphere is lovely. Will definitely go back.
H. P.
Had a lovely late lunch, staff were friendly and helpful, a nice selection of food in the restaurant. A nice mooch around the shop afterwards, well layed out and spacious.
R. G.
Nice place. I just didn't like queuing to have lunch
G. B.
Great breakfast fast service and lots of shopping for food or gifts. Lovely place now it has been refurbished.
s. w.
Had a lovely fresh cooked meal in the resturant today beforw having a stroll round the shop and buying lots of fresh produce.
Excellent quality !!! And well worth the money
C. R.
Love Beckworth for meat shopping, finding something a little different and the restaurant is lovely. We had a lovely breakfast with good service. Felt Covid safe with the measures in place. You have to scan the NHS app for entrance, you are asked if you are from the same household and sanitizer throughout. The shop only let 2 people from the same household but has a great selection of food, gifts, Christmas decorations, plants and more. I would say it is more expensive but nice for something special. We think it is worth it 😊
G. W. (.
I arrived after a long drive from London to meet up with friends. The welcome I got by the staff made me feel like I was expected or like it was my birthday! Nothing was too much trouble despite us taking up a table for a considerable amount of time. The food was excellent - I had the roasted veg, hummus and warm pitta which was really tasty and just enough. I was surprised that chips (and salad) came with it and they were hot, crispy and delicious. Definitely worth the drive. The queue to come in for a late lunch or afternoon tea was testament to the standard of the place. There must have been 50 people willing to wait. A very well run and fabulous destination. I didn't get time to shop or look at the plants but I did pick up a lovely steak & red wine pie from the freezers of 'Cook' and we will be tucking into that shortly! Well done everyone at Beckworth Emporium.
H. W.
Went on recommendation.. worth a drive out but que's we're very long, staff were fantastic. Food very good... But felt herded and slightly disappointed with items on sale.. I'll try again when they have finished the new extension next year.
J. W.
Great experience staff excellent.
Restaurant was really nice.
Will be back again.
C. A.
I love this place very handy for a gift at various prices. Staff are very quick, friendly and helpful. In the restaurant there is normally a queue but don't let that put you off, it moves pretty quick all the seating is good. Menu is varied and there is something for the most picky eater.
My husband had the special chicken and mushroom pie with lots of veg and new potatoes. I opted for fish & chips with it being Haddock it arrived looking lovely but the taste was disappointing, the fish was wet and the batter soft so I scrapped the batter off.... I should have had the salmon (In my opinion the best F&C are made in Northumberland at the coast they are to die for) I still gave them 4*.
C. B.
A lovely but pricey emporium comprising garden centre, country kitchen food shop, gifts butchers, salad bar and restaurant. It’s the restaurant that draws in the crowds and the ice skating or curling facilities in the winter. The food on sale is high quality and in the restaurant you have the choice of dining informally in the large greenhouse, outside under tables in the summer and inside the restaurant. Great food, well presented and perfect for a special informal breakfast, lunch or early evening meal. Staff very helpful and professional providing good customer care. Their afternoon teas are a very special treat with fabulous selection of individual sandwiches and deserts. Toilets on site. Very accessible with level floors throughout. Free parking in a beautiful countryside setting completely on its own. Well worth a visit
G. F.
First visit for a couple of years did not disappoint. Newly relocated restaurant serves the same lovely food it always has done and the shop had the same lovely display of fresh produce. Well worth a visit all the way from M Keynes.
B. D.
Cannot fault this garden centre on it's quality of plants. Clearly care for them while they arw awaiting new homes. Only fault is the food, I want to buy it all. Highly recommend.
J. S.
Excellent location. Food market, plants and restaurant all super. Plant selection, prices & condition were best seen anywhere & we buy lots of plant!
A. H.
Food excellent, service excellent, restaurant spacious, well organised social distancing wise. Only down side was 40min queuing time due to pandemic restrictions and long wait for meal once seated. Food was well worth the wait and it is sign of the times! Look forward to next visit.
L. W.
Very good experience to day with my friend injend it so much
s. b.
First class customer service, friendly, tasty food in restaurant.
Immaculate grounds , beautiful, quality gifts on sale.
Bravo to Beckworths !
L. H.
Went here with my son for lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed it staff in restaurant were very polite and friendly. All in all a very enjoyable time.
M. d. c.
Food was excellent as always but service not quite so good but they were very busy. The range of Christmas decorations is fabulous with some unusual ones. Good gor a Christmas shopping trip.
J. N.
Love this place. Restaurant is amazing never disappoints. The afternoon tea is a must good value for money.
R. D.
My daughter and I went to the skating part last night for the first time - amazing, we had a fantastic time. The staff are so friendly and helpful. It was our first time on the ice ever and she absolutely loved it. Well done all!
M. J.
At 9 am there was an hr wait for the restaurant but that could've been because of father's Day. Used the food hall which has good quality local produce.
J. W.
Very nice afternoon tea good price with eat out to help out but a bit pricy if normal prices. Very hot though in the restaurant which has been moved temporarily to the ice Palace! Could do with a bit more savory in the afternoon tea and a bit less sweet.
J. L.
Great place to get English food, high-end garden furnitures and all kinds of decorations. It is a good place to visit in the summer for shopping / sightseeing gardening related stuffs.
M. E.
As usual...excellent food, a bit expensive, but we don't mind.
s. c.
Visited today 20 June 20.They have changed the layout to take into account social distancing. You have to follow the arrows due to the layout, unlike supermarkets . Felt very safe walking around browsing. Obviously the cafe/restaurant is closed at the moment, but they have utilised the space very well for you to walk round and browse gifts and food as well as plants.well done Beckworths.
A. D.
Very popular and busy food hall/deli + garden shop & cafe. Plenty of local produce. Prices are reassuringly expensive but everything is good quality from the fruit & veg to the meat and cheese counter. The cafe is extremely popular and they don't take bookings so be prepared to queue at lunchtimes. Food is excellent though, so worth the wait. Staff are plentiful and very efficient and helpful.
C. P.
Brilliant place to visit, consistently good. All staff without exception are top notch. Food hall, restaurant and shop outstanding. Must have a great management team.
A. V.
I like the food hall. It offers great choice of food mostly local. There is also a gift shop and garden centre. Its well known for its lovely cafe but that currently close till the 12th April.
2.
Much improved since the virus distancing rules. Bigger eating area with two metre spaced tables, good one-way direction, a more feeling of space around you, improved food hall & garden centre.
H. T.
Father's day visit. Lovely breakfast as always. I had the mixed berry granola and fruit loaf.
P. C.
Perfect example of how you should run a restaurant under Covid regulations. Love the place anyway but they have got even better now. Finished off with service with a smile. And the foods good too.
M. D.
Smashing Sunday roast and wander around the garden centre
P. G.
Really well organised, we felt very comfortable shopping here. We visited for the garden centre but the reorganised food area was good too with arrows and 2m markings. Well done and we look forward to the cafe reopening some day in the future.
B. H.
It was a lovely friendly place ,and breakfast was lovely
J. W.
Really impressed by the amount of work going on. Major improvements .visit every weekend. Can't wait for the restaurant to open. Everywhere looks lovely
S. M.
Feel comfortable both shopping here and eating in the new restaurant area. All the social distancing protocols are adhered to and hand sanitiser is freely available. Staff are extremely helpful and cheerful, well worth a visit...don't forget your mask 😊
B. E.
This is a very good place, bit on the expensive side but quality is really A1. All Covid safe, well worked out. The meat they sell is excellent along with vegetables, sweets and that unusual gift. All in all, worth going to.
M.
Lovely place to visit. Food excellent. Organisation great. Service great. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
A. R.
Lovely afternoon tea but think to many cakes ,could do with a little less cake and a little more savoury, quite pricey for what you get £32 ?
T. H.
I love the place. They have done a great job with the up date of it. Can't wait to see what the restaurant will look like.
k. e.
This is a must place to visit. We had afternoon tea for two. It was absolutely lovely, sandwiches were so fresh and fillings lovely and tasty a nice selection of cake and sweet desserts, it was very well presented with a crisp and cress garnish on a black granite slate with tea or coffee included. This was a birthday treat and very nice to. There is also the food, gift and plant emporium to visit as well. All the staff were very helpfull and polite. A really nice afternoon. Well done.
R. G.
Beckworths has always been fantastic and I have visited you many times before. Probably should have written a good review then but suffice to say that everything…food, service has been excellent.
So what happened today…..we waited for a coffee that had to be reordered….my potato cakes were flat and lukewarm and I didn't feel worth the money. Should they be hot or cold? (the rest was lovely and the salad beautifully presented) Also my coffee/walnut fudge cake was very dry……even at the end we had to ask twice for the bill!!!!!
Hopefully a one off as it is usually a great place to visit…...
S. B.
Just been to Beckworth Emporium for the first time since lockdown. Very impressed as always but even more so in these scary times. First trip out for my husband and l and it was a very enjoyable experience. Greeted at the entrance by a very nice young man who explained the new set-up. They have loads of excellent plants available, especially bedding plants, which is what l wanted. Would highly recommend Beckworth Emporium, 5 star service every time!
D. S.
Service very good staff pleasant and helpful food very tasty. Very well set out enjoyed walking round garden centre and shops.
R. M.
Fantastic breakfast, quality ingredients, great service...lovely for a once a month treat!!
M. w.
Wonderful items for sale and at a reasonable price. Excellent afternoon tea in the restaurant. Will definitely be going back
a. f.
The superfood salad was absolutely scrumptious and the spaghetti ice cream delicious. One of my favourite restaurants and will definitely recommend
D. B.
My husband, myself, and two small children went just after lunch hours, as we are aware of the long queues. Great, walked straight through and seated straight away but then had to wait 20 mins for drinks to be ordered, then another 15 mins for food to be ordered, another 25 mins for food to arrive, then I decided to order kids desserts ( because I promised them) before they had finished their meals, still another 20 min wait for ice cream. In total we were there nearly 2 hours in a quiet period. Don't get me wrong, the food was lovely but I think the problem seems to be we had 6 different servers to our table, so I think communication might be an issue and we were never asked if we wanted anymore drinks. Still a nice place but not ideal with kids, and service really needs to improve. 5 star food with 2 star service.
R. P.
Really enjoyable restaurant.... when you do eventually get in! I always enjoy a trip to Beckworth restaurant but on a couple of occassions I've walked in, seen the queue and headed elsewhere. I fully understand their business model which certainly gets them through the most number of people during the day, but it is frustrating you can't book a table and be able to plan your visit.
That's my only grumble, I think the food menu is varied and good value. Overall a very nice relaxed experience when you do get to sit down.
L. Q.
Lovely garden centre. Lots of lovely produce and beautiful plants and great selection. All of the plants look very healthy and well cared for. Also great butchers selling lots of BBQ meats and great deli. Only one minus - very expensive but then you do get what you pay for.
V. W.
Beckworth is a brilliant garden centre but you lost out on customers due to refurb. at the busiest time of the year, missing out on gifts for Valentines, Mothers Day and cards. There is nowhere else to go other than Dobbies and that's where we all ended up. I know its difficult with covid but the gifts is a big issue you missed out on. What a great shame.
A. M.
It ok, there is free parking and it’s very clean and spacious but quite expensive. We had afternoon tea for 2 and it was £25 plus extras, in my opinion a bit much for what you got, sandwiches were ok and cakes slightly bland. There was a large food hall, small amount of plants, a very large eating area and some lovely bits n bobs. Good space for Prams and wheelchairs so good for all. Don’t think I would go again.
M. S.
As always food and service very good. HOWEVER, in not allowing bookings they have exposed themselves to queues especially on mon to weds for the eat out deal. Why they dont take bookings is strange to me as this would stop a lot of people turning up and having to leave due to not wanting, or being able, to stand. That said even before Covid standing was expected but that is testament to the popularity.
D. T.
Great food, great service as always with Beckworth. Restaurant area has been moved to the garden area but same quality of food in a bigger (and in my opinion better) area. Much lighter.
E. C.
The whole place is really nice, very helpful staff - in contrast to one of the other reviewers the ladies on the till couldn't have been more helpful and were very polite. The butcher is great and, even though I've only been a couple of times, knows me by name. He's very helpful and knowledgeable and has made things up for me while I had coffee. Excellent and highly recommended!
K. C.
Great food and a lovely place
L. D.
Beautiful Christmas decorations
Yvonne (gifts) such a lovely lady, very helpful. Thank you
A. W.
A very nice place to visit. A good variety of plants / flowers etc and some lovely gifts also .A lovely selection of fresh local produce and frozen food available to buy and a nice selection of cakes / pastries etc. Take some time out to enjoy a coffee, meal , cakes etc in the coffee shop it's heavenly defiantly a top recommendation. A lovely butchery department and deli is also well stocked with a lovely selection .

J. L. O.
Restaurant closed at the moment because of Covid, but the farm market still open with fresh farm products, also gardening products from seeds to trays to recycled barbecues.
One way system in operation and covid 19 secured.
S. W.
I only visited here because I had heard excellent things about the quality of the groceries that were on sale.
I wasn't disappointed, the food is outstanding. 👍
F. C.
Very upmarket place. Lovely place to go. Excellent food with good fast efficient service from pleasant staff and with that kind of service it makes the prices worthwhile. A nice place for a day out. Jacket potato with bacon and cheese was lovely.
C. K.
Really well spaced out and organised, clean and always tidy. Food has always been nice here. They have a new restaurant area being built for 2021.
K. J.
Fantastic selection of good quality veg. Bread shelves were a bit bare and I'm hopeful their vegan products will increase over time
T. B.
Very nice, enjoyed a very nice lunch.
W. G.
Had good food service was good atmastfer was very good
P. P.
Had lunch here, was a lovely place with lots of seating area. Food and service was good and staff were friendly and helpful. Was busy when we left with a queue of people waiting to be seated so would suggest booking if you're planning on going later in the afternoon.
G. T.
Though restaurant are is not open as I see they're doing renovations in it, the rest of Beckworth emporium was well stocked..between my middle daughter & I we spent over £100's..
J. S.
Brilliant place will definitely go back.

J. L.
Lovely food in the restaurant, plenty to choose from.

A superb place to visit, always very clean too. The Christmas display is excellent. So much to see. I give 4 stars, as the music playing when I visited was " Adele" an artist who just grates on me.
S. A.
Friendly staff. Great food. Felt safe as distancing being adhered to by customers.
K. W.
Such a lovely place to visit! Fresh food every day and such high quality! The garden centre section is lovely too with great gift ideas! Also you have to try their afternoon tea

Lovely place to visit, nice atmosphere, restaurant serves great food, the shop has a great variety of quality food at reasonable prices! Definitely worth a visit!

C. H.
Wonderful place and best eggs royal on the planet
a. n.
Lovely place with lots of nice goodies yo choose from!👍
A. R.
Ok so calling it am Emporium gives the first clue to this place.
Not a garden centre, not food shop, not a cafe but some kind of amalgam of all of them covered in a sprinkle of “look at me glitter”.
If it’s what you are looking for then it’s great.
The cafe (I can find a suitably pretentious synonym sorry) is busy all the time and looks perfect for ladies who lunch.
The plants for sale are in good condition but massively over priced.
The food shop is a bit like a cross between Waitrose and a “farm” shop. Essentially what you can get anywhere but ‘local’ and with extra packaging so the price is high. Quality is average but you will feel so much better buying it.
A good marketing concept in operation to create a successful business, but basically it is just that. A ‘place to go’ when you have nothing much else to do.
S. A.
Always love Beckworth. There was definitely a gap in Northampton for something like this and they have filled it! My only complaint is that for some reason the children's meals are not served with any kind of veg or salad. Why is that? Children need veg too!
R. S.
Very nice, lovely produce for sale and nice food in the cafe. The only down side was the long wait to get seated in the cafe, but we'll be back as they jut seemed very busy.
T. N.
Excellent restaurant with amazing food. Polite staff. The shop is well stocked with lots of high quality products.
B. B.
A very good garden centre & food emporium but restaurant a little pricey
S. R.
Lovely spot. Usually a queue for the Restraunt but worth the wait.
K. B.
Great quality produce. Large selection of fresh foods, cupboard staples, gifts, gardening equipment and plants

Always lots of lovely produce to tempt you. Very friendly staff too!
G. C.

Afternoon tea for two. Excellent. Friendly service, ordered vegetarian selection. Enjoyed all especially brie and cranberry. Also purchased reduced bulbs which were a bargain
A. B.
We went to have breakfast and the food was delicious! The Emporium is clean, spacious and fresh.
C. W.
Wow what a place! Incredible food the deserts are so good and a really wide variety to choose from. My favorite is the fentimans curiosity cola it's the only place I buy it from. With so much too choose from you won't leave empty handed!
M. F.
First visit to the restaurant since it reopened since lockdown,it has been organised to a very high standard lots of space between tables staff seemed very well trained and food still upto the same high standard.
M. H.
Lots of amazing food and good choice of gifts and plants too. Café extremely popular - the big queue waiting to be seated shows it must be worth it!
k. k. n.
Had the best roast beef ever, highly recommend!

C. B.
Do enjoy going to this place. Especially when the skating rink is open.
Nice food, good Xmas decorations and atmosphere.
C. C.
Always like going here. Annoyingly though the sign to say the restaurant is closed is not outside the restaurant and you only see it when walking back to the main building. We saw 5 cars stop & people got out to check.
S. H.
Lovely food, brilliant atmosphere and a lovely shopping experience too
J. X.
Lovely cream tea . Place looks beautiful and lots of lovely things to buy .
S. B.
Our first visit since the Emporium re-opened. It was by no means busy but it was extremely well laid out. Lots of fresh produce available.

One of THE places to go to in this area! Huge choice both in the garden centre area and the shop with meats, fresh fish, cheeses, ready meals, jams, pickles, fancy goods and superb restaurant. Not the cheapest but excellent quality everywhere.
