Reviews of Urban Jungle
V. B.
An amazing place! We came to Urban Jungle from Newark and stayed overnight in Norwich just to have a trip here, and it didn’t disappoint. Huge range of plants, and a fantastic feel. Staff are great! Hollie was so friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure we were sorted when we bought our loot. Thanks so much- we can’t wait to come back!
B. S.
This is a plantsman’s paradise. You’ll find an incredible selection of plants which include the palms and jungle plants the name suggests but also all the familiar plants that you know and love as well as more unusual varieties.
You won’t find a children’s play area or the franchise shops that big garden centres have but you will find a café that serves excellent coffee and a limited selection of tasty snacks.
See my photos to get an impression of this wonderful place.
If you’re near Norwich, you must visit.
L. N.
Really great garden center selling a wide range of tropical and house plants. I haven't seen the size and variety of plants you can get here in many other places. They have some huge specimens growing around the centre too, so you can see what kind of conditions they like. Also there are cats.
j. f.
Well worth a visit if your passing, but try not to get lost as its a very large place with loads of plants, that you may not have seen before. Staff are very helpful.
l. s.
Urban Jungle was fantastic 17 years ago. Now it's fantastic with amazing plants and really nice staff. I highly recommend you go if you want something different
C. V.
Great little cafe. Very tropical with fish. You can walk over the fish pond. Plants unusual but a little pricy.
S. S.
Certainly an Urban Jungle. Winding tight country road to get there. An amazing selection of indoor and outdoor plants, trees and succulents. Wandered around for almost an hour and got all that I needed and very reasonably priced. Lovely little cafe too and toilets.
R.
The Urban Jungle lives up to it's name! Spectacular array of plants of good quality and well displayed. Expect this to be reflected in the prices. Cafe available if you're looking for a soya latte or just a caffeine hit.
J. H.
Lovely unusual place, great for a cuppa and a cake and a look round a garden centre that just goes on forever
T. R.
I loved the indoor pond! Cage was nice too good cake 👌
C. C.
The place itself is amazing, pack full of plants, highly recommend if you were looking for plants both indoor and outdoor. But the cafe is the main reason that I gave three stars for a fair genuine review. The coffees we ordered were below standard, basically milk been warmed up and added to the coffee.. it was too warm that I felt it slightly burned my lips, but just me being picky.. charging over £3 for a flat white I expect more then hot milk in a shot of espresso..I honestly can do better with my home setup espresso machine and grinder. But if you desperate for a hot drink then you can’t complain.
J. G.
Brilliant garden centre with a wide variety of plants, equipment and other nature-related oddities - Cafe is cozy and quiet, and is a great place to work remotely; my ONLY two complaints is I wish the cafe was a little cheaper (£3+ for a sausage roll), and offered something a bit more substantial outside of cakes and the like. Would love to come here more often to work around my lunch break at work, but find myself dissuaded due to the lack of something substantial to sink my teeth into :)
B. L.
I wish I could give it more than five stars. What an amazing place! I can’t even put it into words. We will be coming back regularly because the cafe is just so cool and the food, drinks and cakes are spot on. Well done!!
W. R.
Our garden is a result of years of visiting UJ. If you want the tropical garden look then this is the place to come. With advice from the very knowledgeable Liz you can't go wrong. We come here not only to buy but to enjoy the gardens themselves. Highly recommended.
H. R.
Amazing place. Thank goodness they do delivery though. I bought a tree and bamboo. They were very helpful, but my only criticism is the pot holes on their driveway in. I have a Mini and it was hard going!
E. V.
Wonderful! We actually found this place on Maps and by looking at the photos we thought "wow we have to try this". It did not disappoint! Finding the place isn't the easiest thing but the road offers beautiful scenery and the sign is clearly visible so not too bad. The garden centre is huge, there are many different trees and plants, you're almost guarantee you'll find what you're looking for. And even if you don't they have so many options you'll most probably end up buying something else.
The cafe is also really good, maybe a bit on the expensive side.. but drinking a latte while eating chocolate fudge cake in a greenhouse surrounded by beautiful plants totally makes up for it. Definitely not your usual trip to the garden centre and highly recommend!
C. E.
Lovely plant nursery to spend an afternoon, with delicious cake. I limited myself to buying two plants but it was a struggle!
K. J.
Amazing selection of exotic plants. It is reasonably priced (although we travelled from Cambridge where it is generally expensive, so take that with caution). The cafe was alright, a bit on the pricey side for average Mocha, although the cakes were nice.
N. B.
It’s a very nice place but food and drink is extremely overpriced, paying I believe £3.30 for a 330ml can of coke that would have been about 50p-£1 in a shop.
Some of their plants are extremely overpriced.
M. P.
Great plants and well thought out spaces. I liked the more relaxed cafe with more choice but tea and cake was a mug of tea was still very good.
H. M.
The cafe is an interesting place, love the mix of colourful cushions on worn sofas and the backdrop of lush green plants. The cheese toasties we ate were delicious although the 2 salad leaves accompanying them were a bit disappointing compared to the salads photos online from previous customers who ordered the toasties received. There was a really different feel from a garden centre which I enjoyed but I couldn't see anything to help carry plants which limited what we bought and some things we were interested in didn't have prices on. Loved the interior design of the compost loo too!
P. B.
A really lovely place to find and buy plants that you might not usually find in your average garden centre. The staff are all helpful and it's a wonderful place to just have a wonder.
J. D.
Very good selection of quality plants.
Nice to see somthing different. First class customer service.
J. L.
Great place for plants not so good for lunch or vegan or vegetarian. Meat pastries and cakes. Nice places to set though. Would recommend for a drink and an afternoon bit of cake
M. M.
We live in London but no garden centres I have been to there are a patch on this. It's gorgeous and quirky and interesting. I could have stayed for a week. Lovely little cafe and great coffee and cakes. Will deffo go back on my next trip to Norwich.
D. W.
Great place with some lovely plants
J. W.
A Lot of different plants from lots of countries and all very well looked after. Staff are very knowledgeable about variety of plant's as we bought a plant from Africa and the member of staff who we spoke to told us how to look after it as only needs watering once a week.
T.
Love this garden centre. So much to see and plants are of a really good quality. Trees, shrubs, bushes galore. Would totally recommend
M. W.
Great range of plants. Lovely cafe too but disappointed there wasn't more savory options
K. H.
Love this place, very busy but lovely staff, gorgeous plants and cake and tea and a beautiful friendly little Robin to top it all off. Thank you 🪴
M. M.
Easy to find on Apple maps. Beautiful place, love the variety of indoor plants and the cafe was nice and spacious abiding by social distancing and that. Biscoff cake was lovely! Love the homey touches of the plants on the tables. Nursery outside was amazing, the bamboo trees were so tall it was breathtaking. Lovely place on a Saturday afternoon. 🥰
M. B.
Great place fantastic stocks of exotica, but little or no thought for the disabled hence only 3 stars, sorry
R. V.
A really fascinating place. Lovely coffee and cake. Nice cosy corners for a quiet chat Anne fascinating carp pond for the youngsters to explore safely. Yet another place to add to the list of "definitely worth a regular return visit" - still to visit the garden centre though it looks pretty good too!
A. J.
Okay as a garden centre with coffee and cake in the cafe. Prior to Covid there was a much greater food choice so you could gave a pleasant lunch out. Unfortunately the wider food choice is not currently on offer.
K. R.
This is like my favourite place on earth it’s so different to all other garden centres ! It’s an experience too
R. S.
Absolutely brilliant service, amazing food and a great atmosphere. If going on a Saturday, make sure to get there early as it gets busy fast!
B. P.
Absolutely amazing garden centre that feels more like a garden than a shop - and a delicious gluten free greenhouse café too. Can't wait to go back.
K. T.
So much to see i was in Love with all the tropical plants there and definitely will be visiting again
J. B.
Lovely cake and coffee. Great selection of plants.
G. B.
Love this spot! Just a cool, modern garden centre offering a very friendly service & cake too!
A. C.
Beautiful plants, well cared for. Not cheap but excellent quality. Knowledgeable, friendly staff really willing to help out.
Dogs welcome on leads.
Lovely cafe with snacks, cake, hot and cold drinks. Plenty of table space inside, outside or in green houses. Loos available too.
Highly recommended.
S. J.
Great selection of modtly tropical if that's the correct term plants for both in and outdoors. Plus cafe .
J. 0.
Excellent nursery and cafe specializing in the more exotic end of the plant range..
D. J.
Amazing plant choice! Worth going for a look see that will get your ideas going. We will return for done purchases soon. Cafe for coffee and cake was very nice. Recommended.
O. L.
Have been here a few times just to marvel at all the amazing plants. Last time I popped in the cafe with a friend, and the service was great. It's definitely one of the more interesting garden centres around Norfolk, so if you're at all interested in the garden, give it a go!
D. B.
A lovely place for those unusual plants and more mature plants
R. C.
The garden centre is good. There is a great range of exotic and unusual plants. The staff must work incredibly hard as all of the plants are so well looked after and healthy. There is a fantastic pond with huge Koi carp. We will be back for more plants.
L. P.
Brilliant for plants which are common but especially those which are perhaps a little unusual for the British garden
N. B.
Just cake and a drink, no food , very disappointing.
J. B.
Rare, unusual, exotic plants and tea room.
J. K.
Fantastic food, fantastic coffee and awesome desserts.. great selection of plants too
R. P.
Beautiful place to come and have some lunch. Amazing plants at good prices.
L. H.
Great time with the family. So many plants to look at and a great selection of food ☺️
K. R.
Amazing place to visit and browse the amazingly wide selection of indoor and outdoor plants. Knowledgeable and helpful staff make it a pleasure to shop here.
E. L.
Amazing stock of plants, great variety with some really unusual one offs. Cafe in a unique environment amongst the plants and koi.
S.
My first visit. I was shocked by the prices but the plants all looked very healthy.
S. B.
Out of this world place four big big plants this place is a true garden centre not a garden centre supermarket selling just about any thing this place just sells plants and very good ones all so as a very nice cafe / coffee house plants of all sizes and shapes and from all over the world palms grass some look like thay have come from a plant far away or from a the Allen film we got a ground cover plant witch looks like a egg from the film all prices from a little to a lot look four the fluffy cat just a great place
M. G.
I'd been meaning to go here for ages as I love the idea of having coffee surrounded by plants. I thought it would be a good place to take my mum who was staying with me this week, but hesitated after noticing some of the recent reviews were really negative. After looking for a second opinion on TripAdvisor, we nearly didn't go, but I'm so glad we did. It's a lovely place - such a nice environment. The nursery is beautifully laid out too.
It wasn't particularly busy at 10.30am on a Wednesday, but the service was excellent. We didn't try the food, but the coffee was good and I thought the prices on the menu looked fair (although hard to judge without tasting the food!)
J. W.
I think they sell plants here? :). I use this place for the tea and cake!! Also a wonder over the inside fish pond is always a must. The vibe here is just lovely. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly too.
D. B.
Lovely cafe surrounded by plants kinda like a very unique experience of being in a jungle!! Foods great and they even have some lovely cats that come say hi
p.
lovely place to pick up exotic plants and are good prices 5 Stars would recommend to anyone who loves plants
A. T.
Me and my partner visited Urban Jungle today with the hope to buy some plants for our new apartment. We were delighted to find two plants that suited our needs exactly.
Will definitely return again. Many thanks.
Great to see a local business doing so well.
P.S. love the dog, a little sweetheart
F. F.
This is not your ordinary garden centre : it's very special. Plants are not cheap but amazing specimens to treat yourself or as gifts.
Huge koi in an indoor plant area. Good little cafe. Pleasant & helpful staff.
A. M.
Very unusual indoor space with a fantastic indoor pond and incredible fish. There are also intriguing plants, beautiful plant pots of all sizes and a unique layout to browse around. The cafe meanwhile was a disappointing experience at the weekend. Long wait, cold food and missing ingredients while still paying full price! Staff very flustered, forgetful and grumpy. Clearly there needs to be less tables so the waiters and kitchen can cope and offer us an experience that matches their high prices. I recommend going for tea and cake only, not a meal.
M. R.
Staff provide a very nice walk welcoming, the cafè serves brilliant food and drinks and the garden is wonderful to explore.
V. I.
Excellent choice of plants, more unusual that your normal garden centre. Bamboo a speciality, ferns cactus, trees, hostas amongst others.
A very nice and unique place that is enjoyable to walk around. Has a nice cafe too.
Entrance is tiny and the new sign makes it look like a graphic design studio but that's not a real negative
E. C.
Beautiful garden centre, very professional and friendly staff. Anybody who says otherwise has clearly been spending too much time smoking Fritillaria imperialis' spicy cousin.
L. K.
Great garden centre, beautifully laid out. No baby change facilities.
J. &. J. W.
An amazing place - a great place for plants of every kind. The cafe is expensive - £6.90 for a two small cup cafetiere. The food is tasty but don't expect a big plateful! Make sure you get your monies worth by either taking a friend to talk to or a paper to read so you can enjoy the huge plants for as long as possible.
J. C.
Lovely to go to garden nursery without gifts, jigsaws, and clothes etc. Great variety of both garden and house plants. Coffee shop when allowed to be open is lush. Great setting.
W. G.
Lovely little secret hideaway. It's like a mini Kew Gardens! The staff are friendly and polite. The food is lovely. The cauliflower curry is delicious. The hummus is equally tasty and oh the bread, I love the bread. It was very busy when we arrived and lots of reserved tables so might be wise to book if going on the weekend. More vegan offerings please!
M. P.
Lovely coffee and a nice garden nursery
L. N.
Lovely hidden away treasure. Search it out, you won't be disappointed.
J. S.
Always love coming here, new restaurant looks great.
K. W.
Great plants and if you're looking for something unusual this is your place. No ordinary nursery. Great cafe with tables hidden all over.
M. S.
Great place, lovely little Cafe too 👌
C. A.
A very beautiful little place, it literally does fit its title of urban jungle, as therr is such a maze of areas to explore and new plants at every corner. Its enchanting. The little cafe is stunning with the coy carpe fish in the little ponde. There is also an array of pots and bird foods etc on the inside. Really nice.
E. L. H.
So beautiful with a fabulous selection of reasonably priced plants
J. D.
As a cafe its great although a little expensive and tipping feels a bit forced. Great atmosphere though and very relaxed. As a place to buy houseplants it feels a bit restrictive having to squeeze past people enjoying a coffee to see them. There is an area full cacti and succulents at the back, maybe another area set up for picking up buying other foliage plants that you see around the cafe area would help.
J. F.
Difficult to find even with sat nav - I think I lost GPS. But cafe cakes lovely. Pleasant to walk round- the layout was nicer than a formal garden centre.
R. R.
Really special garden centre different to the norm. With a indoor area and plants from many countries .
D. G.
Fantastic range of exotic plants with the coolest cafe in Norwich
A. M.
Love this place, lovely wee café aswell
C. A.
A great space to walk around & explore, lots of plant choice, a bit pricey but good quality. Mesmerising Koi for everyone to enjoy.
G. S.
Beautiful cafe, with an amazing cafe! Was very busy which is always a good sign, especially on a Monday! A few vegan options, which is always great to see (more would be welcomed) it's just such am experience, to sit amongst all the plants.
M. B.
Interesting garden centre with café
S. C.
Great and unusual garden centre with a quirky tearoom. We probably didn't arrive to have something to eat on their quietest day (Easter Saturday! ) but we didn't wait too long for our coffee, didn't properly try out the menu. Car park was a bit of a challenge but was told they had just doubled it's size! No dogs allowed. Be prepared for the rustic eco toilet! Great range of exotic plants, we went for a plant and left having purchased 5 trees.
B. G.
There’s a wide variety of house plants which are fairly priced. The set up inside in the main greenhouse, where the cafe was in pre-COVID times is so creative and beautiful. We got some great insta photos here! Would recommend for a lovely, relaxing afternoon!
J. S.
Lovely place, beautiful plants, friendly helpful staff who appear to actually enjoy their job!
J. G.
Fascinating place to visit. Well laid out. Extensive range of unusual plants. Great food in the cafe. I recommend the toasties! They even served our cake with the birthday candle we had brought along (bring your own matches).
M. L.
Brilliant quality plants and indoor tropical gardens with pools.. Friendly and helpful service.. The restaurant has lost its casual feeling though with the sofas and little niches which is a shame.
D. H.
A great nursery for the out of the ordinary. Some really great plants and they are very well kept. We have bought quite a few items from here and they are all thriving.
Not to mention the great little cafe and water features.
I. R. (. &. J.
A superb place to go if you love your tropical Plants/Trees and Shrubs, I went here one year after opening and brought some amazing Plants and Trees and they stand there today look even more amazing, I brought a Tree Fern from them 12 years ago and it now stands at an amazing 7 foot tall it looks very impressive.
I have been back a few times this year after not being there for 12 years and I was very impressed how things had taken off with the Jungle cafe and many many wonderful plants, trees, shrubs and flowers to choose from. definitely a place to visit even if you just want lunch in a unique jungle cafe.
E. T.
Love this place. I felt at ease on my own in the cafe, lovely tea and cakes and the lunch menu looked interesting too. I spent more than intended on plants. Only downside is poor labelling of plants which are often on the ground so not great if bending is a problem
N. C.
Not as good as 3 years ago.
Cafe not as good. Nice plants but very expensive. Shame used to have wow factor.
s. d.
Fantastic! Beautiful plants for sale. Definitely worth a visit. Now l know where it is, I will go back regularly.
D. J.
Nice place to visit as a one off.
Cakes were good but rather expensive . Overall impressive.
DJ
S. R.
Lovely place great plants staff helpful
I wanted 1 of everything
T. S.
Superb plants in many varieties with well laid out displays. The cafe as far as I know is unique and although small is perfectly formed! Gluten free too. Liz Jamie and all the staff are helpful and knowledgeable - I will be visiting again many times!
M. O.
Great place to go to cafe open seating outside but better really can get stuffy inside. Got a couple of nice mature plants so worth a day out also staff really friendly
P. 1. (. 1.
Cosy
D. H.
So much choice and very cheap, loved the cafe area.
R. R.
The jungle itself is beautiful. Cafe shop is really bad ... wasnt even a busy day . Waited 20 minutes for a can of coke and about 1 h for a BLT. The staff was busy chatting in a corner.... wouldn't recommend the cafe . Just admire the plants unless you have a few extra hours to waste on waiting for a glass of water.
S. G.
Nice relaxing place.plants are different but also expensive
S. H.
Definitely my favourite garden nursery in the Norwich area. Stocks a great variety of tropical plants to build your own tropical oasis. Staff are very friendly and always offer good advice for novice gardeners such as myself. A new addition is the Jungle Cafe which offers a wonderful setting for refreshments.
J. H.
High prices are the only thing standing between this nursery and perfection. The place is full of beautiful exotic plants. Bamboo, succulents, grasses, palms, olives, etc. However, everything is very expensive. Just as an example, they sell very small succulents for £3.00, which would usually cost £1.00 at a garden centre. Larger plants are also expensive, perhaps 25-30% more than I would expect. Ultimately I think this pricing structure might end up reducing income and personally, I would have spent a lot more money here if the plants provided better value for money!
P. O.
A utterly marvelous place to buy plants from. The choice is wide and varied, be it indoor or outdoor. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable Sadly the café has recently introduced table service which now determines where one can sit. The once casual and friendly seating is no more. We will purchase plants but no longer frequent the café Very regretable
M. W.
Great selection of unusual plants at reasonable prices. Friendly and insightful staff
D. J.
Lovely place to wander around but a little expensive
S. H.
Huge variety of unusual plants. Delicious cake in the tea room. Bit difficult to find but we'll worth the effort.
D. F.
First time here but won't be my last, staff were both helpful and knowledgeable, cats were cute and could quite happily wander round here getting lost in the inspiring displays of plants
P. P.
Fantastic collection of plant's.
Well worth a visit.
Looking forward to the restaurant being reopened indoors soon.
S. F. (. C.
Superb garden centre for indoor plants as we as shrubs and trees
A. R.
A really nice place with lovely staff. I contacted them through the Facebook page and they replied within minutes. I wanted some male guinea pigs but unfortunately they didn't have any, however a member of staff said that if I couldn't find one elsewhere, he could order me one if I needed. The staff we're really friendly and knew what they were talking about (for the guinea pigs anyways). Would recommend :)

Rachel and the team at Urban Jungle recently hosted our latest Norfolk Bloggers event. The team couldn’t do enough to ensure the event went smoothly. The food was delicious and the Jungle at night is truly something to admire. If you are searching for a unique venue for a corporate event or special occasion, please don’t hesitate to contact these guys. Highly recommended. Nicole - Director, Nu Image
T. P.
A really great nursery run by passionate, knowledgeable enthusiasts, brimming with always beautiful and often exotic plants. There's also a great cafe, gluten-free to boot. Warmly recommended
J. W.
Beautiful plants in an extremely relaxing setting
O. F.
Superb. As the name suggests, absolutely an Urban Jungle. Beautiful plants, fantastically helpful and knowledgeable team. Great café.
M. C.
Love this place! Great plants, great coffee and totally unique. It feels like you're in the tropical rainforest in the middle of Norfolk! Highly recommend just coming and checking this place out.
d. w.
Bloody lovely place. Prices in the cafe are well to high I mean 12 pound for a fry up is just silly and 4.90 for a pot of tea needs to be more on the menu for example sandwich and jacket potatoes and prices need to sink
K. R.
I enjoyed my visit here but found the prices of the plants to be very expensive compared to many other garden centres. Tend to look for stuff here then buy it somewhere else cheaper. Nice cafe, love watching the Koi Carp - well worth a visit.
S.
My new favorite plant shop, loads of healthy exotic plants that I have a hard time finding anywhere else and just a really cool shop overall! Will definitely be returning despite it being far from my home. :)
J. S.
We spent a lovely Bank Holiday Monday afternoon here looking at the lovely plants and trees on offer. The cafe was lovely, reminded us of dining out in Turkey! Will be back
C. P.
Beautiful plants and delightful cafe. Seated among the plants with the pond trickling. Speciality coffees and all gluten free menu. More than a garden centre.
C. M.
Tucked away, off the beaten track, this is a great place for the unusual and interesting.
This does mean plants can be a little more expensive. But worth it. Friendly staff, always helpful
A. B.
Fantastic aray of plants, friendly staff and great cheese scone.
H. P.
Great plants, great prices
J. P.
What a hidden gem! This is a delightful place to visit with a unique cafe serving up delicious cakes amongst the greenery.
T. F.
Varied selection of exotic plants.
Site starting to look slightly neglected. Poly tunnels need attention.
L. M.
Lovely wander round today, our little boy was fascinated by the big jungle plants. Coffee and cake was fabby too.
J. S.
Good cafe, excellent plants but hard to find what you're looking for.
M. F.
Awesome place for plants and a great cafe, lovely cakes and coffee. Support these independent places that dare to be different.
T. D.
Really good selection of plants both indoor and outdoor, nice to walk around and had a decent coffee and slice of vegan cake in a nice setting
A. G.

Wanting to visit for sometime and I eventually made it and I was amazed, the setting is very unique and the plants amazing all well watered and such a variety, plants are clearly labelled and staff are very informative, loved the fish and cafe area so calming to enjoy a wonderful cup of tea and homemade cake yum.......... been back for a 3rd visit already think I may have my own jungle by the end of the season!!!
M. L.
Great news that Urban Jungle is open again from 13th May 2020.
I've seen comments about some of the prices, but I've always believed you get what you pay for!
I love this place and always looking for an excuse to go there.
E. D.
Visited Urban Jungle for the first time today - never been to such an amazing garden centre. The hothouse with pond cum cafe is fantastic, and the plants for sale are outstanding.
p. d.
Food was very good and the cappuccino was excellent.
More of an unusual garden centre with so many tropical plants and trees, unfortunately they all come at a price.
a. m.
bit random, lowers laid out haphazardly. amazing fish pond, and indoor flower section was very nice
b.
I visited Urban Jungle today with a dear friend, the staff in the restaurant were really lovely, the food was really good, and the ambience was tranquil and relaxing, I didn't want to leave, the plants and varieties were fabulous and I can't wait to return, thank you so much for such a great visit, and all your birthday wishes.
