Reviews of Van Hage
J. W.
Found at the shopping outlet in Peterborough, just off of the large roundabout.
Plenty of parking.
Parking is free.
Toilets are available.
A cafe with loads of seating, and tables well spaced out.
Outdoor seating area too.
As I write this ( Sept 2022 ) they're just putting the Christmas stock out. It looked like it's going to be quite alot of festive stuff !!
Usual garden centre selection...
Indoor , outdoor stuff, candles, plants, lantern, garden plants, water features, sheds, they have it all here.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Dogs allowed inside.
C. S. P.
More of a gift kind of garden centre, but then it was December when we went. A vast restaurant so plenty of space to sit.
Y. L.
Pretty impressive garden centre with lots of unique and quirky items, reasonably priced. Also has a big cafe (which we haven't tried yet). Will be visiting again soon.
S. L.
Their Christmas display is beautiful.
My friend & i both had jacket potatoes for lunch & they were delicious.
It is a bit pricey, but you certainly get excellent quality.
K. A.
Bit disappointed tbh food was blarr although plentiful, Christmas display not at the standard it usually is service luke warm
R. E.
Plenty of parking, easy access and plenty to choose from. A great Christmas section and a brilliant restaurant made it a very enjoyable visit.
M. S.
It's a garden centre so along with the usual Christmas decorations here you can get a really nice breakfast, coffee, tea, cake etc. Oh and birthday cards...
M. G.
It is great place with plenty of choice of shops
S. Y.
Great garden center on the edge of town even if a little pricey. Good range of products and good free parking.
L. B.
Very large garden Center with a big selection of plants, furniture etc but cafe was disappointing, very slow service, no jacket potatoes or paninis available (at 1pm) and pricey !!
A. C.
Love this place! Staff were super helpful in my quest for finding moss poles for my Monstera plant.
W. T.
Very nice Christmas decorations, quick check out.
M. W.
A great outlet.
They have a wide selection of things to buy. There is a food court selling amazing foods. The food court feels like it's all local produce.
With the food court, bbqs (ranging from 100 to 2000 pounds), fire pits, sheds, tools...it's every man's dream.
It's a great excuse to take the kids out as there is a play area and a sit down food place. I could have spent all day in there.
N. C.
Seems like a very nice place but quite pricey stuff. They have a butchers in there which were very helpful and reasonably priced. I got 1.4kg of rib eye cut for £34
S. M.
It's huge, well laid out, packed with stock. Anything and everything you can imagine. The place was spotless and we'll set up for visitors safety and social distancing..plenty of gel at the entrance. Loads of parking although the car park does have a slightly confusing layout. We only stopped briefly, just for the loo, once inside we couldn't help but look round. Toilets are right by the children's area and near the cafe. Only one issue, the ladies had run out of hand soap and hadn't been stocked up by the person who has just finished checking them. Otherwise,we all said we will definitely have to go back for days shopping,it's quite a trek for us,over three hrs there and back but we are both agreed it's well worth the drive. It looked amazing. We only visited the two stores and spent most time in the garden centre. Great place, never knew about it before, right off the main rd and so easy to find, even I managed and I'd never been before! Highly recommended.
J. O.
Decent shops but will do it more variety and probably a big supermarket. Lovely car park and environment. 👍🏼
S. H.
Used to be such a great place to take the kids and the grownups could enjoy it too, now all the family friendly stuff has gone, it’s just another garden centre.
M. N.
Enjoyed browsing in a comparatively quiet store although it was early. Nice restaurant with goof range of breakfast items at good price. Great range of garden items and some fabulous gifts and also innovative food items. Will certainly return.
D. T.
My kids love it here. Thank you Van Hage!
D. H.
Fantastic garden centre and quality products if you are minted! You could find cheaper elsewhere I am sure but if money isn't an issue you will be set. Sadly I love everything in this store but my wife would kill me if I spent £2.5k on garden furniture
M. P.
Weirdly quiet today in all areas of PE1. Van Hage appeared to be understaffed but it was so quiet I'm not surprised. Shortage of plants blamed on transport.
Choice in cafe was really basic. Only hot food was sausage rolls, chips and beans and it wasn't great.
D. B.
The garden centre has such beautiful items In. Well presented, a little pricey but worth a visit.
V. J.
Lovely breakfast ! Unfortunately the nursery was disappointing with overpriced items everywhere!
U. B.
Went for a snack, cafe seemed short staffed, longer queues than there should be with customers buying hot food holding up those who’ve just popped in for a quick coffee. No system in place to improve the throughput of customers. Tired and shabby looking, the cafe appears to have been left behind. Rest of the shop with the usual mix of clothing, shoes, household items and gifts amongst actual gardening items. The whole place seemed messy though there were notices explaining that they’re getting ready for Christmas……unlikely to visit again.
T. N.
A nice place to do shopping, to have meal or just to look at the birds with kids
A. T.
They had amazing fireworks and Christmas lights switch on!
G. V. (. G.
Visited Van Hage for their festive afternoon tea, very filling and tasty along with a cracker for Christmas, with decent gifts inside all for £12.50 each. Can even have a glass of Prosseco fir an additional £4.95 each.
J. W.
Superb food hall. Very well presented and laid out with huge selections on all sorts, and very very friendly butchers. Van Hage itself is very well laid out and spacious too.
L. A.
Visited to look at gardening tools, good selection
G. M.
While there we saw that the restaurant was open with outside tables so we had a bit of lunch.
We'll set out, lovely food and friendly service. Will definitely go back.
Forgot to mention bought some really fresh bedding plants as well.👍👍😁😁
S. B.
If you want high end things four your home or garden this is the place to go we have got a lot of things from here bbqs plants and bronzes four the garden thay have some of the best in the area still very good
P. M.
Nice garden centre albeit a little low on stock at the moment (not really surprising). Interesting and varied retail food hall. Great outdoor space with large collection of plants of all sorts, garden furniture and outdoor buildings. Well worth a visit.
A. W.
Nice large garden centre with plenty of parking
J. W.
Pleasant well layed out store with a good range of items
T. H.
I loved the shop, but the Cafe/Restaurant let it down, not enough information on how the system worked, food was in several different locations around the Cafe/Restaurant,I had the sandwich and soup option it wasn't made clear where you obtained the sandwiches from for this I assumed they might be made as and if needed, but you choose them from another counter, not sure how that option worked if all the sandwiches may of been sold as there were only a few left ,all seemed a bit chaotic staff and customers crossing back and forth across each other, while I appreciate this system may be due to the COVID situation it didn't seem to work very well,on the upside tables and seating areas were lovely and clean, and the older lady who brought our soup was very nice.Toilets in the ladies were very noisy not sure what it was that was making the noise but it felt like they were located on a runway.
C. R.
A huge range of products, their Christmas section is fantastic this year! Staff were so friendly and happy to help, something I really rate especially when trying to buy a 7ft Christmas Tree!
P. E.
What was open was very nice. Even though it was after 10:00am a number of the stores were closed. Garden centre was worthwhile and café/tea room was excellent for drinks and toasted tea cake
J. S.
Really like it here. Had cuppa and scone. Our grandson played in the sand and looked round at the animals. He also went in play area.
C. Z.
The products you'll sa find in here are carefully crafted. Many choices of plants, garden buildings and accessories. A cafe is available for customers and local products as well.
R. M.
Visited the restaurant first. It wasn't too busy, and had Covid secure practices in place. It wasn't made clear that we had to go to the counter to order, as we were just told to go to a particular table, where there would be a menu.
Very disappointed with menu choice as I am dairy intoleran, which left very little choice. No mention that plant milk was available, although having asked, we discovered that it was.
The menu did say which foods contained various intolerant foodstuff, e.g. milk, eggs, mustard, wheat etc, which seemed to include most of the menu. Staff were helpful. Perhaps a fresh look at what is available is needed.
The garden centre itself was so different in terms of staff being really helpful, professional, yet friendly. And for that reason I would visit again.
I remember having a very negative experience in the restaurant the last time we visited, so perhaps just not bother in future.
J. B.
This is a beautiful garden centre near Eye on the outskirts of Peterborough services. They have a good selection of plants, lights and ornaments. They have a great variety of outdoor seating options available in different colours. They also have a bbq shop which specifies in outdoor cooking equipment and the necessary items for that purpose. Be warned you could spend alot of money on your garden, they have some gorgeous items that may prove too tempting to ignore. They also have a cookware shop and a coffee shop. It is wheelchair friendly as everything is on the same level, they also have toilets but I did not notice if they had baby changing facilities. Plenty of parking options.
S. F.
Great variety of shop's in one area
D. B.
THE place to go for great garden-centric deals. Also has a lovely café (when it finally opens after Covid!) & a small market with some delicious locally-branded food & drink. Make sure you pick up a magazine, as there are some fab 'Discount Vouchers' in the middle to cut-out & use throughout the coming months!!
A. R.
A lovely place with lots of nice things. I bought some really nice Christmas items and gifts. Very spacious and was quiet on a weekday afternoon. Excellent quality meat from the delicatessen section
B. 1.
The store itself is great if not a little expensive however we were there for breakfast, which wasn't the best I've ever had. I appreciate that the breakfast menu is cheap I don't expect to be able to bounce my toast off my fried egg. All that aside this would be made so much better if the staff at least smiled, at least when asking the customer: what would you like? The saving grace was the young lady at the cash desk who did manage a smile.
N. G.
First visit to this Van Have and what a surprise. Huge stock of just about everything for the garden and house. Very big restaurant (opens when lockdown eases) Small childrens farm outside.
Very noticeable was everything was spotlessly clean, unusual for a garden centre. Look forward to returning after lockdown.
J. M.
Had tea and cakes here, which were very nice. The Christmas displays are shaping up very nicely and looking festive. They have a wide range of garden centre goods, toys, some clothes and a large spacious cafe. It's a good stop to break a long journey or for buying your garden centre requisites. There are a shoe shop, outdoor clothes, stationers and other shops next door. Ample parking.
A.
garden centre is lovely but my issue is restaurant .... shuts at 2.30 for hot food (we got there at 2.45) and unless you want cake or one of the 2 cheese sandwiches, there is no 'food'. Shame as it has a nice looking restaurant
G. E.
Good breakfast. So much choice for the gardener. Top quality but expensive
M. D.
A premium garden centre with a wide range of products for indoor and outdoor use. They have multiple concessions for name brands and a beautiful upmarket foodhall. The restaurant generally offers a great breakfast as well as food throughout the day. Easy and free parking available as part of the PE1 Retail Park.
T. B.
First time there,my first thoughts was it's ok I went there to have breakfast Very good would recommend having a breakfast there even if you don't do anything else why you are there then if you want to have a walk round all the different departments plenty to have a look at very nice place go there again.
A. C.
Massive selection of outdoor plants ,sheds, fencing ornaments outside, and concession stands and food court indoors. Note, the indoors cafeteria/ restaurant is closed at this time due to Covid restrictions. There is a very nice coffee bar outside among the plants and ornaments which serves a great coffee and delicious sausage rolls!
S.
Expensive but a nice choice of gifts
L. T.
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Little C (22 months) loved the farm and being able to touch the animals. The garden centre is amazing. Just about every type of plant there is was there for sale . If all my plants grow, I won't need to buy any vegetables for the rest of the year! It's not the sort of place you would go unless you want plants, gardening supplies, gorgeous baked goods and meats, or a quick visit to the charity shop, the Works or the Edinburgh Woollen Mill. Free parking is also a bonus.
A. S.
Had a wonderful afternoon tea with three friends. Staff were lovely, we sat outside and a table was laid with a cloth just for us.There was plenty of food will definitely return and try other meals. We came from Spalding well worth the trip xxx
P. S.
Eating area very low in choice with some pay area closed. Had scones with were hard but some taste. Whole area looking tired
J. L.
Great day out for the family, arrive early for the breakfast deal. Lots of seating in cafe, though busy all the staff were polite and helpful. Big gardening section, nice food shop with local meat and dairy.
E. P.
Lot's of shops and maiden aquatics tropical fish. Loads of parking spaces.
M. G.
Excellent for shopping for the garden but can be a little pricey incomparison to other garden centres. They have a lovely restaurant and little outlets in the outdoor garden centre too.
K. S.
We had a special afternoon tea today (£19.95 for two, book in advance), it was superb, with lots of extra little touches which made me feel thoroughly spoiled for my birthday. Staff very friendly and helpful. Thank you to the staff and the chefs!
J. R.
I took my friend who hasn't been to Van Hage before. She was well impressed. Its a proper garden centre, restaurant, interiors, clothing store and, at time of visiting , an outstanding display of Christmas decorations etc. The meal we had was a jacket potato but they make pizza to order and have a sandwich counter and a carvery. Parking is free. The staff are helpful too. There is a food shop full of top notch food and beautifully displayed. The fresh bread is to die for and they have a frozen section too. A butchers and cheese counter, fresh veg and salad stuff. Blooming marvellous.
C. M.
Popped in for a coffee and a piece of cake. Huge selection of home made cakes, scones and cookies. Decent coffee. Kind of forgot I was in a garden centre. It's a bit more restaurant with a nice garden centre attached rather than the other way round.
G. S.
For breakfast it was disappointing to learn that there was no fried bread or toast, which they always supplied.
Also some staff members were wearing masks then none at all.
I would have thought that wearing masks and dealing with food would be a must.
M.
Cafe is ok a d staff are friendly enough they just need more activities for children here. It's a perfect space for children to visit but other than a small play area where bigger kids cant access they haven't really got anything. Some pottery painting or alike will be perfect as all ages like to take part in something like that.
W. P.
It's a garden centre but it's rather expensive. But they do have some nice bits n bobs. Now have a somewhat larger selection of outdoor plants pots etc and they're priced competitive
M. J. L.
Good ambience. Excellent service.
A (weak) coffee + a drink of orange juice cost my friend a tad under a fiver.
So glad I didn't have to pay.
Good place to meet, chat and reminisce.
Worthwhile visit, but mind the poor and not entirely correct signage at the roundabouts!
R. W.
We have never seen a garden centre so big and so well stocked. It's pleasant just to walk around it and also have food and a drink. The plants are very well cared for and the life size garden ornaments are simply great.
D. M.
Great for breakfast. You would be hard pressed to get better value for money and enjoy the same quality of food in Peterborough (aside from Wetherspoons). the staff can be a little cold and unhelpful (probably after serving so many people!). I haven't bought much from the Garden Centre as it is quite pricey and definitely caters for the higher end of shoppers.
C. C.
Another very positive visit to Van Hage - very appealing displays, helpful staff and a lovely cafe. Definitely an asset to PE1 retail park!
A. G.
Love a coffee stop here! You can always purchase healthy plants! Excellent but for home and garden.
b. H.
Took ages to find a price for an item, I had to go looking for it with the assistant myself in the end. Probably 15 minute wait. Expensive so only visit rarely though really nice cafe and great for a leisurely wander around. Lovely farm food section.
K. L.
Fantastic staff, so helpful and polite. All staff have a smiles on their faces. I ask a lady called Nicole where I could find sunflower planting seeds and she was very happy to show me.The restaurant is clean and food is fresh. The breakfast is fantastic value 6 items for £2.99 which includes tea or coffee or squash. Served 7 days a week until 11am. The plants always look fresh and healthy. There is a food hall were you can buy fresh local produce. There is a delicatessen, bakers and butchers (Grasmere).
There is also a carboot sale on Sunday morning in the car park.
M. A.
Normally a very nice garden centre, the downside was it was full of xmas decorations etc and sadly it's only the beginning of October!!! Far to early for crimbo surely.
W. B.
Had a good cup of coffee. Had a walk round items are a good quality but expensive
R. E.
Very large garden centre with a lot on display. Very good cafe on site. Parking is good and convenient
P. M.
My wife and I visit the café several times a week for coffee and sometimes food. Our main complaint is that there is always cold air blowing from the ceiling which makes food and drink cold very quickly. Representations to staff have made no difference. They allege that it is a design fault and that they can't do anything about it but this has gone on since the place opened years ago! Service at the drinks section is often slow.
H. x.
Food is overpriced and under par. Very poor selection, too.
On the flip side, it's a place I enjoy looking around, and somehow always seem to return to in the hope that's something's changed. Much as I enjoy browsing, I rarely find anything worth buying.
B. H.
They had good choice of outside plants..and they have robin's singing and nesting that was amazing.
P. M.
Yeah has got a lovely Garden Centre, and a large cafe area on a retail park
P. B.
We absolutely love this place. great shopping! great butchers! nice little farm for the kids' nice tea shop and not as expensive as many other garden centres in the region
N. H.
Really nice garden centre. Not overly large but has a good selection and reasonable prices. Cafe is good, definitely a nice place to spend a couple of hours
J. V.
Love van hage. Lovely range of stock. Nice jams and other condiments in the back of the store in its own shop. Has a lovely cafe/restaurant and even a kids soft play though it is very small. I have heard plans to make it bigger which would be much better for the children. They used to have vegan and dairy free cakes but i dont see them anymore though they are great for vegans and kids with dairy intolerances.
A. S.
Good place for finding plants as well as a nice tea and cake, or breakfast or lunch at good price. Plenty of garden products of all kinds. Join their card scheme to get a free drink once a day!
l. d.
Called in for breakfast and coffee, breakfast excellent but the seating area was dirty. Tables left with crumbs etc on, chairs very dirty. Staff could be more pleasant and smile. Wouldn't recommend.
s. s.
They sell yucca plants here and I bought one because I wanted one.
T. K.
Always very friendly helpful staff plentiful variety of items and equipment Always available
J. C.
A shadow of its former self. Used to be well presented and played classical music. Now has lots of tacky stuff, kids play areas, and trashy music.
S. B.
Very spacious and plenty of room to look around without feeling closed in with those not wearing masks any more
T. G.
Really enjoyed our visit this afternoon. Coffee shop re-opened and good Covid procedures in place. Christmas displays lovely and nice range of plants
M. O.
The best Christmas decorations
C. D.
Large multi store shopping park on Frank Perkins Parkway near Peterborough. Modern facilities, free parking. End of term activities planned for families with young children. All undercover. No playground. Van Hage is a large garden centre with good restaurant providing wide choice of cooked and cold meals, snacks , drinks etc . Good choice of planting, outdoor seating and lighting, kitchenware, fashion accessories, home accessories and small but great food hall with fresh meats, veg, fruit, olives, bread and cakes. Lots of other shops books, fashion, outdoor wear, shoes, pets, bedroom furniture and bedding, kitchenware. A good place to spend an afternoon.
H. D.
There was a huge leak that suddenly came from the roof like a waterfall in the cafe from a heavy down pour of rain. Water all over the floor Staff were so professional and carried on even with this distraction. Still great service and fantastic breakfast. Lucky i didnt get wet lol. Well done to the staff that worked there that day.
S. R.
Very nice stock , good variety of bits and bobs , the cafe is good , nice food and fairly good coffee . Worth a look and maybe a meal .
T. H.
Loved looking around. Cafe very good. Shame I didn't have time to look around the food hall.
E. S.
A large garden centre with everything you'd usually expect. Cafe really wasn't great though, but still quite pricy. The retail park is seriously lacking - it looks lovely bit only a few shops and several shop fronts are empty.
N. S.
Good food, staff shortages when they have a breakfast deal on.
Lovely animal farm, good range of plants and potting extras as well as equipment.
Good food store with great
D. D.
Same as all the other large garden centres. Run of the mill plants - nothing unusual and at top prices. Even the 'cheap' breakfast has increased by £2. Try smaller nurseries if you want decent prices.
B. M.
All possible steps taken for covid rules. Dog friendly, although or canine friend as very wary of the wandering peacock! Good selection xmas decoration, friendly staff and ample parking.
C. B.
Popped in as I enjoy coming here...decided to order some chips for my child...whilst waiting in the que for ages and one away from being served the lady then says to go to another till....annoyed me as she knew we had been waiting for ages...did not bother to go to kids eating area as the tables weren't clear...it seems by the other reviews that this seems to happen often....
I look forward to the response if any.
m. e.
Lovely garden centre. It has lots more than plants and flowers. Always a great place to visit and eat.
M. I.
Lovely shop and coffee shop is amazing does really nice meals, staff are friendly and helpful.
G. E.
Lovely big restaurant plenty of parking its got some interesting items for sale plus there's a small farm outside with a variety of animals. Good display of sheds and greenhouses
F. O.
Nicely laid out displays especially at Christmas. Fresh and delicious cakes available. Weekend breakfast with a cup of coffee for £5
C. S.
Lovely garden centre with everything you could ask for for the home and garden. The food market is dangerous as we always spend far too much money on their amazing local produce!! 👍
S. M.
This is a convenient stopping point en route between Northampton and North Norfolk.
Like many garden centres it is now more about retailing "outdoor" stuff.
It is OK.
The thing that has made me give this such a low rating is that our last visit there was marred by really poor cafe experience - people queue jumping, no one in charge, etc..
T. D.
It's a quiet and enjoyable facility, quite high end in price , but it does feel worth it when you're wandering around a lovely looking building.
S. W.
Good place, reasonably priced on some things and a decent enough size that you're not squeezed around the one Covid one way systems. The staff are always helpful too.
K.
Although i really like the garden centre and they do have a large variety of products. The staff are very friendly but scares. The stuff here is very expensive for what it is. It can be found a lot cheaper else where.
p. s.
Had a meal at lunchtime food good but a bit slow serving so food not to hot time you got through till
C. M.
This place is fairly dated and needs to start stocking more interesting products. It's also a little sad looking.
D. M.
Very clean, bright and well stocked.
Found the staff very helpful and friendly 😊
A. R.
During the winter especially during the run up to Christmas, this vast indoor structure contains a terrific selection of goodies for oneself or as gifts for others. Of course come the spring and all we want to do is get the garden smartened, then the outdoor centre is enticing,
P. E.
Go in for something specific and end up with more than you'd bargained 👍👍
Their Christmas displays are brilliant- great choice of everthing Christmas.
l. r.
Tea and cake lovely new recipe for the key lime cheesecake lovely lady serving wanted to know how it was as I was the first to try it, bit sweet and not a lot of taste of lime, she was going to redo the recipe.
P. K.
Half the shops on our list visit were empty. Pity as it's not a bad place to walk round and browse. Found the food in the main store expensive and the coffee poor, to my taste anyway.
B. J.
Good selection, sells plants (good thing given its a garden centre) and a whole lot more, on the expensive side for a garden centre but the cafe makes it worth a visit, good seasonal ranges
H. B.
Good, only popped in for a hot drink and cake and was able to have this outside but under cover which was great as raining this morning.
V. W.
Nice garden centre. Range of prices for goods. Good for afternoon tea or proper lunch. Has fresh food section of local produce too. Plant section usually very good too.
J. R.
Very Christmasy don’t miss the singing reindeer welcoming you to the cafe and the miniature Christmas village in the middle of the shop
C. J.
Primarily a garden centre but there are cheaper and ones with a more comprehensive stock locally.
However it does have a good 'farm shop' type grocery department and some good value unique gifts.
M. C.
Lovely well kept plants lots of choice too. But no refreshments or toilets available lovely pleasant staff.
C. J.
Lovely large garden centre. Needs to have that on its huge signs ("Garden Centre". Confusing: i thought it was mens' clothing! Fave bit is the mini Pettibg Zoo & DJIBO Art, with its attractive Caribbean-African & music. The cafe is very echoey!
L. C.
Me and the family went for breakfast and then had a look at the bargains 👍 always done really good things to find and food market is lovely, also used the ice rink there and now my legs hurt, no matter what tike of the year you go it's always nice to visit.
B. G.
Friendly staff have some great special offers most weeks and lovely and airy spacious building. The restaurant serves a variety of foods all good value and tasty.
B. B.
The lay out us beautiful...loads to mooch around.. fantastic Christmas fare....nice restaurant but restaurant staff not particularly friendly or helpful and there is a piano saying 'play me" but it's so out of tune any musician with respect for music will avoid it like the plague as did I!!!!!.
F. F.
Lovely garden centre packed with lots of gift ideas as well as the usual stuff. The restaurant is great selling fabulous food very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit
d. b.
Lovely garden centre we had a really busy weekend and thought we would pop out for breakfast and we wasn't disappointed the ques for food were long but moved fairly swiftly but in my opinion it's the fact that theye busy that keeps the food fresh as it's turned over so quickly
We both went for the 8peice breakfast and was ample I don't think we would of managed the 10 piece both had coffee and was just £12
Oh and we watched them taking the scones coming out the oven and wow that were the best looking I had seen
Had a quick wander round the garden centre picked up a couple of gifts and again was reasonably priced
Would 100% recommend
S. W.
Great distancing regulations in place, cafe is now open too. Christmas decs are up now though so not much selection in the store that isn't Christmas related
J. B.
All a bit of a mess. We can usually rely on van hage for a good Christmas display... But it's all a bit...sad. 😔
L. A.
Lovely friendly family orientated place to amble around . Huge cafe and lots for kids to do outside. Good quality products at responsible prices.
K. S.
Disappointing.
No options on breakfast except size and no toast or bread in any form with the breakfast.
Tea served in takeaway tubs.
I shall not be going back.
M.
Been to van hage numerous amount of times ..Love the petting zoo, just think the animals ought to have bigger pens etc etc..The little play area in the cafe is great, but also should be supervised as alot of bigger children use it,shame on the parents for allowing them on it..it's designed for little people..Stop being selfish parents!!
K. A.
Great place to spend time in..much more than just a garden centre
D. E.
A bit harsh for the last reviewer to rate one star because it was closed on Easter Sunday and the website does not reflect this. Large stores are not legally allowed to open on Easter Sunday, so surely common sense would dictate that it would be closed?
D. W.
A bit pricey we went looking for garden furniture but did not fancy taking out a montage for rattan furniture £2000 to sit in the rain and I don't think it would look right in the front room.
R.
Nice garden centre and lovely place to look around. The sell a lot of stuff. Some great bargains there too. 100 litre water butt with stand and fittings...£15!!
T. M.
We only went to Maidenhead Aquatics but I do like this centre, Van Hage have a great choice of everything.
a.
Big garden center. Also has a cafe doing cooked breakfast then other food throughout the day. Lots of stock and sells country clothing as well as loads of other things. More then just a garden center.
E. M.
I would give 5 stars, but although food nice and service good, it's let down by dirty cutlery especially the tea spoons, have reported it before but no improvement. Also no hand wash in toilets.
l. p.
Lovely seasonal gifts cards, plants and children's toys and books.
Tea and cake room
A butcher's and sweetie shop.
Lots of gift ideas.
T. B.
Enjoyed an afternoon visit to the Restaurant x Good choice of filled baguettes, salads and cakes. Of course lovely coffee. Very good value x
M. S.
Large garden centre, worth a look
Now with a massive Christmas display
J. M.
Love visiting van hage always lively things about and the food is always lovely, on this last visit we had afternoon cream tea and I would certainly recomend this it was absolutely lovely ( especially the chocolate dipped strawberries with cream ) Xx
G. P.
Its a bit pricey . No staff around to ask for help. Coffee shop wouldn't go again ordered coffee and it was stone cold , took it back they just put a splash of hot water in it . Disappointed
D. B.
The meal we had here was very nice, but had to wait quite a long time to be served
s.
Nice coffee and nice and quiet. Bit pricey though I thought.
M. C.
Good coffee and scone. Staff friendly. Social distancing in place. Not too busy.
L. B.
Had scone's jam and cream in restaurant with family then walked around looking at the plants and christmas decorations, grand daughter bought a small real christmas tree,we went and stroked the animals, lovely afternoon.
S. W.
Everything you could want or need for your garden and all well cared for and reasonably priced. Staff knowledgeable and helpful
D. G.
Garden centre we'll set out good selection plants and staff helpful
However the restaurant area dirty with leftover food under most tables, we shared a panini which was soggy underneath and lukewarm as were the chips, the cups tea nice hot, Shame our visit was spoilt by the restaurant food, plenty of staff in attendance maybe the Manager on holiday !
J. M.
Love this place, always friendly staff, ready to help when you need, cafe has some delicious cakes and coffees and the food court has some amazing deals on meat, aswel as amazing, fresh, locally sourced foods
D.
Super friendly staff, and the canteen is amazing! excellent breakfast prices and good quality food, very child friendly. I highly recommend it.
W. N.
Excellent. Plants are very high quality. Food shop amazing. Great range of Christmas 'stuff.' And an ice rink❄
L. G.
Garden centre with nice cafe. Busy on a Sunday but the carvery is good value. Good soft play area for children too.
G. C. M.
Great place, if you have childrens you can drop them at Djibo Art place located at the entrance of this big store. Affordable prices give them a try.
C. A.
One way system awkward to follow and you can't get out of the store unless you wait in purchase queue to the till. Not a good experience.
S. G.
Good store, high prices on a lot of stuff but good quality. The cafe is nice, love the breakfast!
D. B.
Bought a pair of fleece lined cloggies for me also wanted larger sized pair for husband but they hadn't got any. Also wanted Yew bushes they hadn't got any. Disappointing trip.
G. H.
Just go for a great cheap breakfast. Enjoy a walk around the shop with quality items. Staff always ready to help.
P. R.
Went to the pre Christmas evening. Had a lovely meal and was greeted with a drink and mince pie.
Disappointed with the decorations, not as good as previous years
W. M.
Nothing different unfortunately, nice enough but the lay out was awkward for social distancing, too many small areas created when there was a lot of space
R. C.
One of the best garden and gift centres I have been to recently. A very good restaurant and food hall and everything at competitive prices
Well worth a visit.
P. E.
Bought some xmas baubles in the sale, got to check out reduced even further. Result! Great garden centre any way.

Love this place, there is a wide range of excellent products from flowers to candles to gin and cakes, the restaurant serves good quality food at reasonable prices and the ambience of the shop is lovely.
D. M.
Great plants but today we used the restaurant, only for tea but both cups needed to be replaced as they were not clean
R. D.
Great garden centre, but we were there for the new bouncing experience with our granddaughter, and she loved it. Hope it goes well for you guys.
C. M.
The best shopping/garden center I've ever been to. Djibo Art Gallery is truly exceptional and the gentleman that owns it is one of a kind
S. J.
Expensive, but most of what you need is available. They do have some good bargins from time to time. Good quality plants generally.
m. w.
Beautiful garden centre. Lots to see .a good variety and a coffee shop

The best valued breakfast in Peterborough. All the food is produced locally using Grasmere meat. Fabulous.
S. H.
A very nice outdoor space to have cake and coffee. Looking forward to going again.
J. U.
Only basic style fencing panels on display, some getting very tired. None were inspirational.
J. M.
Nice coffee and cakes as well as lovely selection of plants and pots.
A. D.
Staff always appear so miserable :-( The cafe is impressive and the food lovely (drinks not so much) but the customer service is poor and the stock in the rest of the store was sadly lacking.
A. P.
Delicious lunch and great value. Butchery shop has some great bargain meat packs which are tasty and great quality.
I. W.
Always manage to spend money here. Good choice of plants. Hot food at restaurant can get cold while you are waiting to pay.
S. L.
Very clean and large, roomy site. Staff were all very helpful.
m. A.
Fab kids have there own little cafe . Food could have been a little hotter in main restaurant. Nice place to walk round
L. D.
The garden centre is nice to visit any time of the year there's a lovely farm shop and a restaurant with a children's eating area, and several choices of hot and cold food.
F. N.
Bit overpriced on some things but overall nice place
T. L.
Thank goodness for the safety dividers at checkout how would we ever live without them. Who Is John Gault
J. H.
All good exept the store detectives, shouldn't judge a book by its cover ,I like scruffy casual ,it dont make me a bum ,or a thief
s. M.
Home minister was happy shopping whilst I tagged along. Jazzed up junk yard. Not cheap
V. C.
Normally stay at Peterborough services but stopped here on way to north norfolk for a change. Very nice food a few little shops and garden centre
T. S.
A unique shopping precinct more shops are needed to opened...... A quiet area of Peterborough in need of a more open professional environment..... A security system needs to be put in place in the parking area!!!!!!!
J. J. S.

j. w.

A lovely garden centre, with exceptionally good Christmas decorations!!
S. R.
I come here regularly and today was very disappointing. Super slow service, dirty and uncleared tables. Worst of all, dirty cutlery and crockery.went through several plates and knives before finding clean ones.
a. B.
Thur27th sept Xmas viewing evening,, enjoyable evening , lovely atmosphere brilliant band friendly staff and good food,, Albert and rose
M. C.
Pleasant place to visit put of town good selection of plants and offers . Nice place to eat or meet friends over coffee.
T. V.
Great customer service. Quality of goods sold, excellent. I recommend this store. Regards.
R. B.
Not so much a garden centre as a multi shop. Since i was here last the cafe area seems to have taken over a very large proportion of the facility which obviously was a commercial decision.
J. W.
A great place to kill an hour over lunch, the food at the garden centre is what you’d expect, lovely staff and very helpful
N. t.
Its not as good as when it first opened. Plants are overpriced and its a bit of a mish madh of a place. Lovely cheese scones though😆
A.
I can't really comment on the shops as I only nipped to the car park to use the porta loos. They were an experience!

t. m.
Excellent garden centre and cafeteria area.
F. D.
Quite a dry low quality breakfast ..nice place to look round and grab a few bits but lots of staff standing around doing nothing in the cafe area so pointless coatings...they should just get 1 good manager and a few out the front and that would be plenty ...dread to think how many they have in the kitchen for such little work
M. P.
Bit expensive but great stuff. Now has a mini zoo great for little ones and big ones as well best of all it is free
A. M.
Always enjoy Van Hage, but coffee is always luke warm, except if you are fortunate to be served in the middle counter. Any reason?
