Reviews of Otter Garden Centre, Plymouth
c. p.
Really nice garden centre, the outdoor plants section has a great variety for all garden types. I do wish theyde have a bigger selection for houseplants but you can't win them all. Large selection of outdoor furniture which took up alot of space which made it all seem like there wasn't alot there. Nice place just lacking stock other than furniture.
A. F.
There is Plenty of parking available which is good as it can get busy. The garden centre is well laid out with the different areas abundantly clear. Products are good quality but rather pricey. Good knowledge of the plants by the outside members of staff
D. V.
Lovely mixture of plants and flowers, staff seems friendly and willing to help.
All do a lot of other thing, the food shop is a lot smaller then I remembered. Big cafe.
Beautiful black cat just walking around
J. J.
Love Otter and staff are great, just a shame that dogs although allowed inside aren't allowed in the area above the plants. Also limited outdoor seating if you want a coffee and have a dog. Shame seeings at endsleigh you are allowed your dog every part of the store except the main restaurant but they even have an indoor cafe dog friendly so come on Otter make dog owners a bit more welcome.
A. R.
Really like this garden centre it has everything you could want to do a small garden or even a large one. The staff are very friendly and there is also a lovely cafe where fresh cooked food and beverages to be had. The centre is also disable friendly.
S.
Visited this garden centre for the first time and loved it. It has huge range of products that can satisfy the needs of any keen gardener. Worth going for a look around. I am sure you will definitely find something to buy.
S. C.
Absolutely fabulous place. Incredible selection of plants. Beautifully arrange with a lovely cafe serving enormous slices of cake at fantastic prices. Highly recommended
A. W.
Excellent service and helpful staff, the garden centre has a vast stock of plant's. Also garden furniture and fittings, garden tools and equipment. The restaurant serves a great choice of quality food and drink, the breakfast menu is worth having.
L. A.
Brilliant garden center, not huge but has a large outdoor space for browsing a wide variety to stock your garden. I've used Otters for a few years now, knowledgeable helpful staff, fair pricing and everything you need.
R. T.
The vegetable plants eg: broad beans were not available and general levels of stock seemed low.The meals where ok but had risen in price what I had would have been two thirds what I paid a couple of months ago. May not bother going again.A shame as we normally visit every month.
A. C.
Staff amazing. We were late in the dayfor coffee shop but they made extra effort as it was my elderly mum's birthday. Super & kind.
D. R.
Awesome place, nice cafe, found plants I couldn't find at the other garden centres that we visited which must have been all in the plymouth/Saltash area, very helpful and friendly staff
M. J.
Super garden centre. Plants all very well cared for and healthy looking. Food, clothes, garden furniture, cards etc. A delightful visit.
j. m.
Lots of things I didn't expect, not just a garden centre it got aquariums with fish, restaurant, gifts, clothing, books, fresh and frozen food, jewelry, garden offices and all the things you'd expect in a garden centre.
E. H.
Great sandwich & coffee. Loads of lovely plants all well looked after .
J. K.
Great place for a safe coffee or lunch. Loads of room between tables and each table cleaned between customers. Lovely staff. Good value too.
k. s.
Always happy to visit others. The staff are always friendly and helpful, all the products on sales are of good quality. The plants very vibrant healthy.
H. R.
Great Garden Centre. Plenty of choices from seeds to coffee. The variety of good are fantastic. The cafe/ restaurant is pleasant and a good service. I'd recommend Otter great place to visit.
M. T.
Great range of excellent quality plants. Knowledgeable staff who are friendly and helpful. I have never had any problems with the plants and products purchased. Coffee shop is large, airy and superclean with a good variety of refreshments. Sadly they stop serving hot food and sandwiches at 3:30.
B. S.
Really lovely garden centre all the plants always looks so healthy.
K. B.
An excellent and great selection of garden and house plants. Staff very helpful.
Highly recommend
D. F.
Very good service and a great selection of plants and flowers
D. S.
Good selection of plants, and outside buildings. Restaurant always busy, but good food and good service from the staff.
R. W.
Disappointment at Breakfast.
Why has choice of egg at breakfast been removed with staff unable to give an explanation. Scrambled is no longer available. Menu changed.
Otter no longer on a breakfast venue for us.
Longtime customer.
L. P.
Beautiful place to visit, the restaurant is incredible and the staff go above and beyond. Special thank you to Sue for making the trip memorable, amazing with the kids. Put a smile on all of our faces!
K. K.
Visited yet another garden center, I swear I am not just collecting visitor points from all of them. Was actually a nice place, plenty of plants and FISH!
C. K.
Lots of great things for the garden and staff very helpful and friendly too.
P. W.
Every thing laid out nicely, restaurant is fabulous, lovely cakes! Well worth a visit
K. G.
Good garden centre catering for a variety of needs with a well run restaurant
providing good food
L. P.
My sister & I love this place & pop in regularly, to buy plants, Christmas decorations, gifts, then sit for lunch in the restaurant. Great place, great staff & lots of choice. Your delivery drivers are great & very helpful when out delivering, thank you all
G.
OK, so I am a chap of a certain age, and I like garden centres. Now we have that out of the way I can tell you that this particular GC is great. Good selection of plants and the in-house cafe is very nice should you want some sustenance in between choosing your hardy perennials.
A. M.
The largest selection of quality plants in the area, and excellent food as well 👍
H. W.
Quality garden plants, small indoor plant section but they are priced quite highly. Cafe has no vegan options or anything marked as gluten free on its menu. Nice array of gifts and trinkets in the shop.
A. C.
Nice garden centre with good selection of products to browse, felt very Christmassy with lovely festive decorations. The only let down was the cafe which was ridiculously overpriced £18 for 2 paninis & a kids jacket potato with beans - no drinks either! They don’t do an actual kids menu just half the price of the adults meals, but when the jacket potato for my 19 month old came it was absolutely massive and things were still cut like potential choking hazards. We was shocked that this was a kids portion as it was bigger than mine and my fiancé’s. It was also served on a China plate which a toddler could just throw and smash, when we asked for a toddler plate all they could give us was a takeaway box. Poor on their behalf, which was a shame. The paninis were very nice but hugely overpriced.
v. y.
Great Christmas displays, cafe a little overpriced but staff very friendly. Bulb lady was super lovely... wouldn't let me buy any bulbs until she had reduced them 💙
R. L.
Everything you need for the garden and more. Extensive range of healthy plants.
Popular large cafe with breakfast and lunch and friendly staff.
T. M.
Lovely lunch and they loaned us 2 wheelchairs to push disabled passengers around which was v helpful since we then didn't have to take any with us on the town minibus. Nice display of plants and lots of other bits & pieces to look at and buy - nice half-day out.
m. s.
Lovely garden centre, good value plants and high quality, nice restaurant
b. L.
Always enjoyable. Also Ottery St Mary we love too
b. v.
Great garden centre will great plants and everything else you would need.
K. K.
Ok but over priced the garden centre around the corner is much better
W. P.
Friendly staff. Fairly level site. Large free car park. Gardening plus furniture, Christmas decorations and gifts. Restaurant very nice for lunch or coffee.
G. M.
Plenty of choice good cafe helpful staff plenty of parking out of town location
A. D.
Nice to look around. Everything was so expensive that's all
A. R.
Great place, huge selection of plants and garden type stuff.
t. j.
Very long queues and overcrowding at the cafe when ordering due to the fact that the person you are with are not allowed to go and sit at a table .Ridiculous.I also witnessed an elderly lady with a plaster on her head and not looking very well being told by the manageress she wasn’t allowed to sit at a table .A chair was taken to her and she had to sit the other side of the barrier until the person she was with got served . Great staff who are very helpful and friendly and floor staff that work so hard .Lovely food just a shame we had a bad experience .
P. F.
A great local garden centre and all it entails. Much prefer coming here than some of the bigger places. Just don't try to access it through the neighbouring Texaco garage, the entrance is further up the road!
J. N.
Great restaurant and good selection of plants and other goods.
Restaurant caters well for Coeliac customers. Would definitely recommend
R. M.
Good, but I didn't see a single otter. The staff should also be dressed like otters, and should say things like "our prices are otterly fantastic". But the plants are decent quality so I guess that will have to do.
C. J.
Helpful staff with all keeping social distancing. Sanitiser available at two stations upon entering the Garden Centre. Good selection of plants available and always well cared for by the staff. I got there early to avoid it being too busy. It was lovely to see so many like minded people who were giving space to others who were shopping.
B. F.
Great selection of everything for the garden and home, and the fruit scones are excellent
D. J.
Very quiet this afternoon. Plenty of room to view plants etc
K. M.
Lovely food, Great prices Lovely flowers
J. R.
Love this place, sells everything you could possibly want for your garden at a reasonable price, lovely cafe a little expensive but worth it the food is so delicious, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
G. B.
It was very nice at otter to day got some lovely roses for the garden
N. E.
Very nice garden centre has plenty to look at and a great range of products & food selection.. Very friendly staff in the restaurant and good service and nice food worth having a visit 👍
V. A.
Popped in for coffee, fairly busy, just before lunch time.
Also looked for a plant pot stand, but they did not appear to stock them.
Nice Christmas displays.
S. E.
Very good. Cafe great food, plants excellent quality and plenty of stuff to look at. Team are good too. Definitely worth the visit
s. f.
Like most nurseries, however this one had a good stock of fish in the aquatics centre
J. S.
All food is excellent, and well presented, whether it be cakes, snacks or cooked food. Staff are very friendly and efficient. {restaurant}. Also the garden centre staff are very good and helpful..
h. g.
Always so friendly, food is faultless and hygiene is superb I give them 10 out of 10 plants are super as well
C. M.
A good garden centre with plenty of choice and an indoor cafe. Large trolleys to help you buy trays of plants and prices that weren't too high.
i. m.
Excellent customer care when a problem arose with a purchase. Debbie Donovan and her team resolve it in no time at all. My husband Brian and I are very happy.
J. A.
Amazing garden centre, all in one stop
C. P.
Lovely garden centre! And delicious breakfast
A. B.
Had our normal Wednesday visit for coffee and a walk around. Always nice place to visit. Brought some plants and had a pleasant drink.
P. W.
Well organised garden centre, they have really thought things through re COVID. Always felt comfortable and safe whilst visiting, the large Restaurant/ Cafe is well organised and the staff are polite and very helpful. Track and trace is taken at the till when paying and it takes seconds. A very want experience thanks to this very well run garden centre.
S. M.
Haven't been to Otter nurseries for years until the other day. we were very impressed at the range of products and unusual gifts or treats for yourself. cafe serves amazing cakes at reasonable prices. covid safe. spent too much as usual but well worth the trip. the Christmas department is fantastic you want to buy everything
M. H.
Perfect. Great prices and an excellent variety of indoor plants.
M. D.
I love this garden centre. They have a lovely café with a wide selection of meals not to mention the fabulous cakes! I have been buying my plants from there for over ten years. The plants are healthy and good value. Their shop is full of useful goods. Well worth a visit.
J. D.
Bought some plants for the garden. Great choice and two year guarantee on Hardy plants. Prices seem reasonable. A pleasant shopping experience.
J. J.
Very organised socially distancing in place, quiet without crowds, able to browse and purchase in comfort. Was able to buy plants and a shrub which was on my list of requirements plus a couple of items from the food department which cannot be purchased elsewhere.
r. g.
As usual a lovely place to look around but found it off putting seeing a covid testing centre as soon as we came into the car park. A shame it couldn't be put in the other car park out of sight. The staff as usual were friendly and helpful too.
N. B.
Haven't been here for ages, so will definitely be going back very soon, big change around since the last time I was there, he looking really nice restaurant 🍴 was nice too. 👍 Well worth a visit. Go go go!!! 👍
a. h.
Lunch in the cafe first class as usual .lovely display of spring bedding plants . Beautiful roses and climbing plants
P. R.
A very nice place to pop in for coffee. Very covid aware and well spaced, looking after everyone. Be back for lunch soon as the quality and choice looks excellent.
s. l.
If you drive past it a few hundred yards there an absolute gem of a garden centre.
H. R.
This is a nice garden centre. Large car park. Toilets located outside of main entrance.
Inside there are the usual items you can get from most garden centres.
There is a nice restaurant inside with plenty of seating. There are lots of choice available. Hot and cold food as well as drinks.
Only about 10 minutes from the town centre.
Well worth a visit.
D. P.
Can I say what a wonderful afternoon we had . Love this place . Coffee shop staff very polite and helpful. Stringently clean in the coffee shop . Constant cleaning to make us feel safe . Food and service was excellent . Well recommended for a day out . Managed to buy some lovely things , wonderful shopping experience. Thank you to all the staff at Otter.
M. L.
First time I have been here for years. It has changed so much for the better.
Well set out and lovely christmas displays.
Took my mum and we decided to have lunch.
Great value for money, it was delicious. Well presented on the plate and plentiful. The only complaint I have is that the cakes looked amazing but I was too full for anything.
Lovely friendly staff.
P. D.
I always enjoy visiting this place. Especially at Christmas. They have a great selection of Christmas goods. From sweets and treats to decorations and trees. A vast selection for everyone. Also there is a large selection of plants tools and other items for your home and garden. Staff are pleasant and hard working. They are a credit to the centre. There is also a large restaurant area with lots of seating. And a big selection of food and drinks. There is also plenty of parking spaces here . A fab place to visit. Give it a try
A.
Lovely spacious garden center.
A. T.
Been a while since last visited so surprised at how much change has taken place. Generally the layout is good and the plant quality is excellent. Landscaping and garden buildings all catered for.
Only minor criticism is the restaurant, although obviously very popular, as the place was absolutely heaving. Customers were looking for somewhere to sit. But then it was a Sunday lunchtime ...
R.
Absolutely lovely place and great prices. I was looking for some smaller 5cm plastic pots and sadly they didn't have any. The lady went out of her way to try and help me and even came back with a tray they had used for their propagation before and said I could have it free of charge. I didn't take it because I wouldn't use it (I needed separate small pots), but I was extremely pleased by the level of care the staff have for customers needs. Will be coming back here often!
c. D.
Nice cafe with excellent table cleaning system. Friendly staff and good selection of hot and cold food. Very reasonable prices.
J. O.
I wish I had this place on my doorstep! What a range and what fantastic aquatic staff, brimming full of advice.
Cafe needs a price list/board but that aside what we had was good.
Great farm shop area, cook shop to drive me insane with longing. Great clothing selection and even a haberdashery section.
Plants looked beautiful and lush.
s. o.
Very nice experience. I was with my daughter and her family. We had lunch which was very nice, served by pleasant staff. In the past I've bought quite a lot of things at Otter and today only spent £7.99 on a bird feeder but the lady serving us was helpful friendly and happy to share some holy banter. Thoroughly good experience all round.
c. m.
Best garden centre I've ever been too knowledgeable helpful staff plants excellent range an quality. Staff helped me get compost into my car
The cafe is also excellent caters for lactose an gluten intolerance food an drink dogs are welcome in the outside area of the cafe dog friendly watch out for the resident cat who sleeps in the glass houses all in all a great place
C. M.
Beautiful place, lovely quality!
J. J.
Great lunch with speedy service. Covid measures adhered to.
Beautiful selection of plants, a riot of colour. Highly recommended.
R. -.
This place is a bit more expensive than other garden centres but it's a nice place to visit. The cafe has really good cakes and it's nice to stop in for a cream tea before picking up your plants and compost. Staff are friendly, helpful and full of knowledge.
D. E.
Very nice place to visit, with something for everyone.
S. M.
Love this garden centre. The plants are a little more expensive here but worth it. We have had plants from other garden centres that have not done well. All my plants from otters have thrived including my vegtable plants. The cake in the cafe is fabulous too!
E. S.
Nice garden centre, in a rural area, that's been in business for years and years. Nice clean cafe with tasty cakes and coffees. Also a good selection of gifts, plus all the garden supplies and plants and flowers you would expect.
L. H.
Superb garden centre ,well stocked with an abundance of plants in particular Acers ,which we wanted ,best selection we have seen .Nice cafe serving average food .
M. T.
Mi wife and I thought it was excellent, Very well laid out. Very well organized restaurant & staff very helpful.
J. T.
Easy parking with lots of spaces, the nursery section has great quality plants, plus all the necessary gardening extras, including things you haven't thought of!! Well stocked kitchen/ household area, haberdashery and clothing too. The outdoor equipment is comprehensive, seating and barbecues. And the cafeteria floor is superb!! Very easy to come away loaded with goodies!!!
A. M.
Very easy to spend a few hours at Otter. The staff have a great knowledge about their products and are always happy to help. The selection of garden furniture is immense and they also sell homeware and clothing. The restaurant is very nice although they do not allow you to go off menu so no swapping your chips for new potatoes. If you are OK with that you will have a very pleasant few hours.
P.S. The Christmas displays are fantastic.
J. P.
I love this place. Excellent selection of gardening equipment, sheds, plants, shrubs, stationery, clothing, kitcinalia, food, gifts etc and has a great restaurant. Best of all the staff are very warm and friendly and happy to help. One fault is to use the toilet facilities you have to go out of main entrance so bit of a trek from the restaurant, especially for older or disabled visitors.
s. j.
Great selection of plants, though not the particular geranium I wanted. Garden centres when well stocked are good for the soul, and Otter is very pleasant.
g. W.
Inundated with Xmas products at present, but pleasant and spacious, nice well maintained cafe/restaurant.
M. O.
Very well laid out store and garden centre, has a very good range of plants and goods.
Really nice restaurant with plenty of siting including outdoor seating.
Large carpark with easy access.
Suitable for disabled people and families with push chairs.
N.
All the family love this place. Food is fantastic and the garden centre is very good if not slightly more expensive than other places we found. However, the parking, food and friendly, family atmosphere makes it a five star visit from my family.
K. E.
The staff here are absolutely brilliant. I bought a friend in a wheelchair and was struggling to get around with the trolley and the chair. Several members of staff came forward to help without being asked. They were also only too happy to answer any questions we had about plants. I always come here as they have a great selection, and plants are always really healthy.
K. P.
Great garden centre with other shopping departments under one roof. Lovely atmosphere, especially at Christmas with a cafe serving a good choice of drinks and snacks. The biggest let down is that there is not a disabled/baby change toilet near the cafe, you have to walk all the way it the front of the store, along the car park and down a ramp to wait for the one available disabled toilet. Although there is s baby change facility in the ladies toilets, this is not signposted.
R. J.
Nice restaurant with great choice of food, whether it's coffee and cake or Sunday roast. Excellent array of flowers no matter which season you visit. Plenty of parking which is free. Choice of material to cover your garden projects and garden ornaments to finish it off. Public restrooms available but are a fair way from the restaurant.
D. S.
Great Little Place. Good selection for all your Gardening needs.
J.
We went to the cafe for lunch today. Absolutely following government guidelines lots of space between tables, you can only sit on a table with a sign to say it has been sanitised. Name and phone number taken for track and trace. Also very good food.
b. n.
Lovely garden centre camt be overpriced sometimes
S. A.
This garden nursery is a hidden gem. It does excellent food at reasonable price. You can even get local cider and beers. My wife particularly enjoys the cream teas. I love the roast dinners. Be warned despite the large size of the restaurant it can get busy & packed on specials night or Sunday lunch.
The nursery part is also a delightful way to spend an hour or two ( and a small fortune) with its wide choice of plants, flowers, tools etc.
S. G.
Good plants. Always busy mainly for the restaurant
K. G.
What an absolute pleasure visiting this garden centre. Fabulous Christmas ideas, something special for that time of the year.
The Coffee shop food was scrumptious, the cake was so light in texture. Definately going back again this week. 5*****
J. P.
Good budget friendly garden centre with a nice restaurant and good homeware section. Dog friendly which is a massive bonus (not allowed in the indoor restaurant or upper home section though)!
M. &. L. M.
Nice store, nice stock, great quality plants plus beautiful homeware, great selection of ornaments for home, gifts , so much to see, plus sells pet items, prices are higher as too be expected with quality items sold.
S.
A lovely garden centre selling the usual things you would expect from this type of establishment plus some really nice farm food. Some of the food is very local and unavailable in the supermarkets so it is worth a visit just to try something new.
Prices are generally in line with competitors.
Top tip: go at Christmas to experience their superb Christmas displays. They succeed in creating a wonderfully festive atmosphere. The children love it.
M. F.
Love this place. It has everything.
A large restaurant . Good food menu and desserts. A very popular place . Always busy.
Big choose of indoor and outdoor plants.
Garden furniture..
Assorted cards , Books, Toys, clothes, shoes, boots, coats. Jewelry.
Household goods. Gifts.
Huge range of Christmas decorations at Christmas time.
A lovely place for all ages.
F. !.
Really big selection and friendly staff
S. K.
A lovely garden centre with a great selection of plants and products without being overwhelmingly large. Really nice cafe too and helpfull staff throughout. Definetly one of my favourites.
O. B.
This is where I bought my cacti 2 years ago. Liked it here a lot. Christmas stuff was exciting.
B. M.
Customer Service from staff in shop was 1st class. Had a small piece of my Kettler garden furniture missing. Staff replaced with no fuss. Can also recommend the Smart Solar cool flame solar garden lights. They work most/all of night lighting up garden.
J. A.
A good selection of plants - especially indoor plants at a reasonable price. Lots of garden accessories etc. Also fresh local food and other products sold here.
First time in the café and was really impressed. Had a lovely baguette and a delicious nutty cheesecake.
J. R.
Always enjoy a trip to this garden centre, my only gripe is OUTSIDE TOILETS. I would have thought in this day and age with the restaurant there should be at least accessible disabled toilets inside. Apart from this issue it's a good place to visit.
D.
Lovely selection of plants.. everything you could need for your garden and more! . Helpful staff. Nice large cafe to go and have a meal at a good price in. I like it here.
S. W.
Lovely garden centre with amazingly helpful staff. Tasty breakfast and coffee to get us back on our walk!
S. L. N.
Enjoy here. Plenty of stock and restaurant is very nice. A great selection of pet toys and items here to
A. E.
Staff very helpful its a rel pleasure to stroll around always something new to see
J. B.
Great coffee and cake as usual. Lovely selection of everything and managed to get the clear plant saucers l wanted. However no small plastic indoor watering cans which was disappointing.
M. B.
Well laid out store, easy to walk around safely. Lots of helpful friendly staff. Ate there too furst time we have had a Cheese Tea and really impressed would definitely have that again and would hughly recommend.
e. s.
Easy parking and easy to view Christmas trees each on individual stand, staff with great knowledge of Christmas trees and helpful. As with most garden centre's mainly aimed at old people so we paid for our tree and left as we do every year. Maybe next year something will entice us in.
L. H.
Always pleasant and friendly staff, and a enjoyable visit for a browse but always end up buying something as they always have lovely plants, gifts, handy garden and home items that you won't find else where. Cafe is good to, only gripe is the garden centre is only partially dog friendly!
j. h.
My wife and I spent around an hour here and could not cover all available. We found just what we wanted at reasonable prices. We found the staff helpful, friendly and informative. On a nice day you could easily spend a few hours here and use the restaurant if needed.
N. D.
I took my elderly mum their for coffee and cake today . Iwas amazed at how well the catering staff were at keeping the cafe clean and very organised at keeping everyone safe.
Well done to you all.
J. B.
Very well laid out. Covid safety thought out. Food was lovely and staff were very friendly and helpful.
a. t.
Well stocked garden centre with a excellent selection of good condition plants. Also some unusual gift ideas not available elsewhere. The cafe there also has a great selection of food at fair prices.
S. W.
All the staff at Otter are so helpful.
I got a takeaway coffee from the restaurant and all the staff are friendly and working so hard to make sure everything is right for us all for Wednesday when the coffee shop opens again. WELL TO ALL OF YOU.
K. T.
Excellent cafe and friendly atmosphere
C. S.
Sells quality plants etc. together with garden equipment, also has a large cafeteria.Plenty of space in the car park. If you enjoy browsing it also sells clothes, furniture and food as well as an assortment of other goods.
L. C.
Otter Nurseries Plymouth is a warm welcoming garden centre with friendly staff. Prices are average for the genre with a reasonable horticultural variety and extensive range of stock from aquatic maintenance etc to home furniture and furnishings. From LED lights to ladies shoes by Hotter. Clothing, cakes and kitchen appliances are all to be found with many other items in between. The restaurant is reasonably good and the prices are fair. I always eat here when visiting, usually at least once every week. The pre-booked evening meals are well worth a try when available. Garden furniture and sheds etc are available to order. Car parking is extensive, but at busy lunchtime, parking near the entrance is usually busy. There are about 10 disabled slots and 5 mother & baby slots.
C. B.
Good quality aquatic plants, also brilliant shop assistant, she was able to answer all my questions. Nothing was to much trouble 😁
G. W.
I ordered some metal fencing last week, they phoned me today and said ask for Chris who was happy to bring it out to the checkout for me. This meant that I did not have to try and get them through the store. They are very helpful.
E. V. C.
Got this social distancing sorted so felt safe. Food up to it's normal high standard. We will be back soon to use our September coupons!!
K. L. S.
Too rushed at lunch. My child was still trying to finish his lunch but felt rushed as people waiting for a free table. Also no high chair for my 3 year old. Advised all used the day before and none were clean as needed 72 hours!! So an uncomfortable lunch. Soup portion very small.
S. K.
Love Otter Garden Centre, you can practically find anything you need for your garden, there is a good diverse selection of plants for both inside and out, my son particularly likes the Carnivorous section and always makes a bee line to it. The staff are particularly knowledgeable about the plants and go out of their way to help out, we were looking for Lavender and the staff member explained they had two types that grow to different heights, when to cut them back to make them look their best. The house cat Laddie can be found asleep on the rug by the succulents, worth a visit.
J. M.
Nice garden centre with a wide selection of other goods
Restaurant serves full meals as well as cake etc. However. the toilet is situated outside of the main building and nowhere near the restaurant, not good if you are caught short as it is a fair old walk!
s. j.
Good choice of plants, as you would expect, plenty of parking. We went for Sunday lunch, oh dear, not as expect. The only thing hot on plate were the potatoes, had to send back to have veg warmed, the roast pork ended up like leather, gravy did soften, the roast beef was, "plastic from a packet",. We were not the only people sending food back,
Sorry won't be back in near future, used to be a good meal!!

I haven't been to Otter Nurseries for years. First impressions do count. The carpark and surrounding areas were clean and tidy and a good display of garden furniture, all priced. Once inside, I was greeted by a friendly member if staff and surprised at how spacious and bright the store was when you walk in. Plenty if room to walk about and not at all cluttered for my mum to get around with her walker. All staff smiled and made a comment of hello or good morning, not the usual 'can I help'? , which I find off putting. We stayed for coffee in the restaurant, again lovely friendly staff and clean environment. Staff happy to take customers trays to their table if needed and served with a smile.
I went into the changing rooms, which is usually a let down in most shops. Ample room to get changed in and nice and clean. No dust on the floor or cobwebs in the corners! Staff at the tills again nice and chatty.
Then I need the ladies. Which are situated outside. Oh no, not usually a good experience. I was wrong. No cobwebs in the windows, entrance lovely and clean to all toilets, you enter a corridor. Ladies were spotlessly clean and smelt lovely.
I will be going back again and would give Otter Nurseries 10/10. A very pleasant experience with a great selection of goods for everyone. Thank you.
H. S.
Just wanna say Sue in the cafe is absolutely amazing she saw me breastfeeding my baby and came and brought me a coffee on the house as a show of support. Very much appreciated :) it's lovely to see people like Sue out and about!
a. c.
Had a lovely breakfast this morning. But the day before with friends we wanted a toasted tea cake and was told they don't serve them after 11.30. Which we thought was strange as selling cakes, scones etc. I overheard other people asking for tea cakes and they couldn't understand either.
C. M.
It's ok - it is what it is a garden centre
R. r.
Great place. Good cafe. Rose helped us with picking plants for our conservatory. Super helpful and experienced, even when dealing with such novices as ourselves. Many Thanks. Will be back.
B.
A lovey place that has its own community and large portion sizes at the cafe, which I love.
T. T.
Was looking for clothes and shoes for my elderly mum but there wasn't many sizes in the shoes available and the range of sizes in the clothes was limited too. Couldn't find anything suitable. Popped into the coffee shop for a sandwich which was lovely, however the accompanying crisps were a bit stale
d. l.
Very nice garden centre best one around. They have made a good effort for Xmas our grandson loved it .good prices well worth a visit
K. T.
Visited the furniture section last week and the assistant, Dora, was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable - we ended up buying a chair that was delivered the next day by a friendly and helpful young man who again was a credit to the company - excellent service all round, thank you.
D. H.

S. K.
We love this place for most of the year, it has a great selection of plants and BBQ stuff shame this is largely replaced with Christmas tat from September - December
R. P.
By far my favourite of all Garden Centres , always has been always will be ! Today I went for breakfast with my elderly mum and aunt . I must say I have never been anywhere where the two minutes silence for Rememberance Sunday was so respectfully observed by everyone . I always find a trip to Otter a very happy experience and seems to calm me after the working week in an extremely pressurised job ! Once again I was greeted in a very friendly manner by all the staff even had a hug from Andrea ! Thank you once again for a lovely visit to my little piece of heaven
M. S.
Great range of gardeners needs and dreams in stock. Christmas decorations to tempt all but the miserable and a very good coffee shop.

A well run garden centre stocking an extensive range of plants and products. It has an excellent restaurant and stocks ranges of men and women's clothing. It certainly is worth stopping and looking around.

I now find myself visiting the restaurant more these days. The food, and choice of same, is very good The staff, in both Restaurant and Garden area, are very friendly and helpful
I have only one GRIPE.The toilets are a long way from the Restaurant, especially when you are nearly 89 and"puffing" John Hock. (Grumpy old sod). Not Really

A good selection of plants, although having bought some eucalyptus gunnii trees I've since learnt they were far too old and massively pot bound. Consequently they're going to struggle to build a decent root system.
K. S.
Sunday lunch up here is always great with the family. Staff are always very helpful and they have a great range in store. Food is good too and most homemade.
M. P.
Lots of plants and garden things to browse. Coffee shop is good to go but can have horrific queues as it's so popular!
