Reviews of The Herb Farm

A great place to visit that is not just a Herb Farm but there are a Nursery & Gardens, The Barn Shop, Roses & Cottage Garden Plants, the Herb Kitchen Cafeteria, and The Saxon Maze!
The staffs especially at till are so helpful and knowledgeable. It’s a place worth visiting and you won’t be disappointed.

Loved it here. Great variety of scones and toppings. Still a great wee place. Nice and quiet when we were there, with a great seat by the window.
j. m.
Friendly staff. Excellent coffee, soggy croissant, poor choice by me, the cakes look delicious, so will return to try!
L. H.
Dropped on the off chance, didn't find what we were looking for, also plants didn't seem at their best. Shop has some interesting items and good art work.
J. C.
Beautiful place. Their farm shop is filled with a variety of organic goods to choose from. The café’s atmosphere is both very cozy and homely with vintage decors to match the mood. The staff are welcoming and attentive. The food and drinks from the café were a bit overpriced, so I suggest only coming here for a quick bite and a coffee (unless you want to splurge ;)), because the menu is not designed to cater for those wanting to sit down and have a proper meal.
B.
Quite nice with good selection of cakes however somewhat restricted when it comes to other items.
V. C.
Lovely organic cafe, friendly staff, beautiful plants.
L. C.
Lovely range of high quality goods. Delightful staff and great cafe.

A lovely place to visit. You don't have to be a gardener/gardening enthusiast to visit the farm. I found it quite fascinating just wandering around the main building observing the different herbs and plants. A well-stocked shop meant that there's something for everyone. The coffee shop had a selection of tasty cakes to go with your chosen hot beverage.
The only downside to my visit was the toilets. The inside handle to the door to one of the toilet was broken; it actually comes off, so when you shut the door once you're inside, then you will have problems trying to get out again. Not a nice experience.
The Herb Farm: definitely a nice place to visit.

Visited today, lovely place, very picturesque with a nice big open seating area outside. Inside is a little smaller, they offer great food and drinks but I feel the selection of cake could have been a little more as besides chocolate cake there wasn't really anything a child may like especially if they prefer things to be a bit more plain.
Staff were nice but I feel like table service should be offered opposed to you having to go inside to order if you're sat outside especially if you're someone who doesn't feel comfortable being inside around people at the moment.
Would visit again but maybe to look at the plants they offer as didn't get a chance to today.

The selection isn't huge, but what they do have is good quality. We picked up a small/medium gunnera for £15, which is half the price of other places. Since Covid, there seems to be a single pricing structure for the entire place, based on pot size/volume. The café always smells lovely and looks busy, but I've never eaten there.
M. M.
Garden centre with shop for bits and pieces of decorative wood and ceramics. Plus a cafe.
Only one working toilet.
Sitting at a table waiting for one of our group to bring back a second round of drinks - approaches by one of the staff to ask if we were having lunch. It felt as if we were being told to get out, even though there was no queue and empty tables.
Double doors and windows all shut.... hands, face, space and fresh air???
A. S.
Beautiful setting. Friendly service. Delicious food.
S. M.
Great breakfast bacon sandwich and coffee. Even at this time of year, good selection of healthy looking plants at reasonable prices. Shop has lovely gifts. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, will definitely be back come the better weather

We stopped on the way home for lunch and the restaurant was quite busy. It is partly in the building and partly in the conservatory and is comfortable.
The staff are efficient but not particularly friendly, and although quite pricey the food was good and well presented and the coffee good.
The gift shop has as good range with some unusual and interesting items.
M. S.
For 2 years running, quality service has been noted. Delivery is on time. Highly recommended...

I went with a friend for a gossip, a coffee and a snack. The coffee was good and I had poached eggs on toast. They were the best poached eggs on toast that I'd ever had. Eggs perfectly cooked on toasted seedy bread. Absolutely delicious. Had a look around as well and they have some excellent items for the garden and the shop is stuffed with quality artisan food. It's a lovely place. Plus there is ample parking.
M. L.
A very pleasant day out in the South Oxfordshire countryside. Wide range of herbs available to buy. Also great cafe. All staff very friendly and obliging, would recommend a visit.
S. B.
Lovely cafe and excellent service. Choice of cakes was great and tasted delicious. The Herb Farm, although small, had a significantly better selection of herbs and smaller plants, than chain Garden Centres. The only draw back was it was difficult manoeuvring around with a wheelchair chair, due to locked and heavy doors. Keys were eventually found for the doors in the cafe, so hopefully now the weather is improving this won't be an issue in future. Highly recommended.
K. S.
Visited after the lunchtime busy period, only sampled the coffee (flat white) but the cakes looked good.
S. S.
Very tranquil for a morning coffee but I do wish they wouldn't serve their cake on top of the napkin as it makes the napkin unusable. Cake is delicious though. Great selection of herbs and other plants which are good quality and well looked after. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
j.
Cute place! Lots of potted plants with attached information, love the display. Fun little maze which was fun to run around too~ well planned with a quick way out. Only downside was that they had no vegan cakes and they're unable to serve food at the moment, i believe due to staffing issues. What a shame. Otherwise a nice visit =)

Lovely herb garden. A fabulous shop with lots of interesting items not found in garden centres. Brilliant café with yummy cakes, scones, and healthy sandwiches etc. Don't forget to visit the maize. Good luck finding your way out. Great afternoon spent here. We will be visiting again in spring.
G. K.
Lovely cafe for the local community
D. T.
Got there just after opening and no one ready or prepared. So hardly any of cakes out and ready. They came out later as we were leaving. Very friendly staff. Bought lots of plants.
N.
A lovely little local farm shop, nice plants outside too. They stock David Austin roses which I was pleasantly surprised at. Nice little cafe too. I'd say some of the things in the shop are a bit Iver priced. However you get what you pay for.
E. M.
Unusual gifts in the shop. Local eggs and homemade bread also for sale. Plants, bulbs etc. are really high quality. They also sell cards which are not really seen anywhere else. The cafe sells homemade cakes and a choice of different teas. The coffee is very good. Staff are knowledgeable. This is a great place to spend a couple of hours. I visit regularly. Well worth a visit.
J. A.
We visited the Herb Farm today for lunch. All quite Covid secure. Cafe staff friendly but very slow service which didn't matter as we weren't in a hurry. The farm itself seems very rundown, almost as if it's closing down low stocks and limited variety of goods. A pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.
J. W.
Charming cafe/restaurant. Healthy, affordable plants and helpful, friendly staff. And, the shop sells lovely gifts.
S. A.
Just visited their Christmas craft market. Several nice quirky itdms and a lovely coffee to follow.
P. G.
Nice place and good variety of plants
J. J.
Attended a busy xmas event here but didnt stay very long as very crowded and couldnt get a seat in cafe area. However for the amount of visitors the parking was extremely well organised (well done) I will definitely return again in the summer
S. H.
Visited coffee shop - not bad but pretty limited menu.
S. D.
Really good selection of herbs all in top top condition. Nice selection of pots and other stuff for the garden. It's not huge, but I always find good stuff here, and my garden owes a lot to this place!
I. P.
Nice small herb farm with plenty of plants to choose from, it has a shop selling bric a brac and a little cafe for drinks and snacks, friendly staff, overall a nice place to visit, would recommend.
M. H.
Brilliant food at the café, the Carrot cake was some of the best I've tasted. The shop was lovely, and has plenty of things for sale which would make good gifts.
R. P.
Well presented specialist nursery with plants for sale amid gardens and traditional landscaped areas. Also the wonderful cafe for excellent light meals and drinks, incorporating artisan ingredients, and often herb and flowers from the garden!
E. T.
Helpful staff, good selection of plants though not a great variety of herbs despite the name. The cafe is lovely but they must also own a dairy farm as the menu options all include a form of cheese.
R. P.
The Herb Farm just gets better. The shop has a huge range of beautifully displayed upmarket food, gifts and homewares. Thank you for saving me a trip to Liberty's.
I learn something new with every visit: this time I found a mint plant that smelt of bananas, and another that was a dead ringer for a box of After Eights. Remarkable.
Prompt service in the cafe. I loved the fresh mushroom soup, decorated with herbs from the garden; your carrot cake was top notch, too. Keep up the great work! See you soon!
L. C.
Only went for the tea rooms - fabulous cakes! Lovely to be served tea in a matching and pretty crockery. Great service that didn't rush us. Definitely going to visit again
C. F.
If you want herbs that will thrive, this is the place to go, rather than a supermarket. Also good cake and tea.
P. S.
Beautiful old buildings restored to a new purpose. Great gift shop as well as good quality plants. Often have unusual varieties of common herbs plus some more unusual plants. Popular cafe on the site.
J. V.
Lovely shop, great cafe, fun maze.
C. E.
Lovely lunch and super coffee. Wonderful things to buy in the gift shop and a good number of healthy looking plants available - it's early in the season.
S. J.
Lovely please visit a piece of tranquility
N. R.
It was hot day there we went especially to buy some herbs. There were about 10 to15 people there mostly in the cafe area a few kids in the maze which we enjoyed when we went in. Staff were very helpful which we needed.spent £20.00 on various types of herb.spent about an hour there we did not stop for tea and cakes even though it looked very inviting. There are other garden things for sale pots etc and also bottled jams juices and those types of things for sale. The shop was well presented neat and tidy.
N. C.
The cafe is good, but the herbs are not so good at this time of year as many have died down a lot. This makes it difficult to judge how healthy a plant is. Naturally, many herbs are out of stock because of the season.
G. P.
really lovely cafe and garden. enjoyed my time and the jacked potatoe. the wasps outside were a little annoying but in the end of the day they are pollinators aswell. and putting some jam aside for them ended the problem
M. W.
Nice café but prices seem to have shot up to an unreasonable rate. Was a regular here pre-covid but won't be back until prices are reduced.
A. F.
They had a great Christmas market on. It was heaving!! Lots of lovely gifts on sale. Really lovely staff and in general a great place to go for your herbs and more
J. a. M.
Lovely to visit here, serve lovely food well distanced for safety during these pandemic times, nice range of christmas trees
S. P.
The mint infusion only had two small pieces of mint which just tasted like hot water. Wouldn't mind they charged a little more and half filled the teapot with mint like an infusion is supposed to be.
S. L.
A brilliant collection of plants and stuff for sale, perfect for christmas or birthday presents, or just having a mooch round. The on-site "Daisy's Coffee Shop" is also very good.
M. M.
Lovely place to visit with family. It's a quiet little garden centre with a little cafe. It has toilets but they are basic. Plenty of car parking.
J. P.
I usually go over if I want to take someone to lunch and I want a special setting. Beautiful surrounding countryside in a very pleasant environment, and I have always found the staff more than willing to help.
K. L.
A delightful small garden where you can sit and have a cream tea or a light lunch then walk amongst the herbs, pot plants and flowers. There's a well stocked shop as well.
C. S.
Lovely range of plants and pots, first lunch out since 23rd March and it was delicious. Thank you
G. J.
Lovely coffee and incredibly friendly staff!
S. R.
Beautiful setting. Coffee cake as light as a feather, brownies deliciously gooey. Very friendly staff.
S. H.
Good place for coffee catch up with friends.
Needs to have a better selection of cakes, ( nut free / gluten free)
C. B.
You can always get those 'hard to find' herbs here and you will end up having a relaxing stroll around the various displays. Its in a lovely location so even the drive is interesting.
S. E.
What a lovely surprise the herb farm was! Lovely staff, lovely food and shop and came away with a pot of basil and honey! Definitely will return!
K. T.
