Baskets ordered via Fine Mesh Metals have done the trick superbly. The stones placed in the baskets look absolutely awesome and have really complimented the landscaping on my property. The website is easy to use and it even helps you order the correct number of baskets and any additional items needed as part of the design. I also needed to add to the order after placing the items online - the staff were friendly and helpful and managed to get the extra basket on the same delivery!

Great service and advice. Quick delivery. We had moaned about the bottom half of our garden dropping off about 3 to 4 feet for 14 years just being dark and muddy where not much grows, always damp, but 40 gabions, 14 Tonnes of MOT, 33 tonnes 75-150mm gabion stone (gritstone), 80 tonnes of subsoil, 38 tonnes topsoil, a few drains and 3.5 weeks later its all one area no drastic slope. We used 1m x 1m x 0,5m baskets with 4mm front face, 2 premade braces per gabion were recommended, we ended up making additional braces from the lacing wire as 2 premade ones didnt stop all the bulging. After advice and a trial I chose to lace the baskets together rather than use the helicoils, it gives a tighter joint between the baskets and looks neat once you get a technique going. I'd try to buy the tool and stainless wiremesh clips / crimps for next time for assembling the baskets if i was usign a lot. Finally we topped them all with 600 x 600 indian stone flags to stop the leaves and debris from the trees behind filling them up. Just need the grass to grow and replace the fencing. All in all a great product which has transformed our garden. brilliant, thanks.... sorry for waffling on..... looking to order more now for a raised patio, pics and more waffle to follow...

Purchased 2 baskets to replace existing brick retaining wall and to use large number of attractive stones found in garden when we moved in. Relatively easy to assemble but for the inexperienced, the 'twisty' wires would be a time and effort saving purchase. The online help video was useful and the customer service good. The baskets are well constructed and only time will tell if we have made the right choice for the job.

The gabion baskets were delivered promptly and were well packed and easy to assemble. They were very reasonably priced, light to handle and strongly made. They were supplied with plenty of tying wire to lace them together, once put in place. I would recommend viewing the companies video on their website as it explains all the procedures of building up the cages, securing them and filling them with stone. A good all round experience.

I've been buying wire mesh here for environmental works for a number of years now. The quality of the materials is excellent, delivery prompt and customer service first class. The product is of good quality and delivered to schedule. I found the website easy to use and both online and phone tech support was very helpful. The only issue I had was with the custom-sized baskets. They are not assembled in quite the way that I had intended/assumed. It's an issue I can work around by changing the clipping, but I would advise submitting a diagram to ensure that positioning of clips, door, and thicker front panel are accurately communicated when ordering a custom-sized basket. That said, I would certainly use gabionbaskets again.

We ordered a pre made aviary which was the 8ft by 8ft one with security door inside. Very good quality materials and sturdy avairy. Reasonable price too. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 as there are no instructions with it (not that u really need them if you have built one before) but for me having never put a metal aviary up before, I had to ring the company to ask how to secure the inside security door. They did answer very quickly and then we were able to do it, but it did take all day due to the panels not being labled and having to undo it and re do it quite a few times to make sure everything lined up correctly. Def need at least 2 people, and some instructions but other than that, it's a good product.

Very efficient and rapid delivery. However I don't recommend the 3 mm gabion. It's not worth skimping with the cheaper structure. The shape distorts considerably when you put the stones in.

Excellent website and products. The amount of information with regards what you need and how you should go about building your Gabions is spot on. I'd have given a 5 star review but for the fact that on the website it implies the delivery is a next day delivery which I thought was optimistic, but the day after would have been fine. In the end it took the best part of a week which was okay in my case as I was lucky as my son was at home and was able to take in the delivery. Other customers do say the delivery is next day and to an extent it sounds as though the delivery arrangements are out of FMM's hands? But, perhaps this might be made clearer on the website? That aside, perfect product, good communication with the Director Chris in resolving the delivery issue and what a website! Update on 2nd order. No problems, delivered in good time, excellent service, I'm giving them 5 stars now. Update on order No.3 No problems, superb service and arrived within 24hrs!

Very good service and team helpful in providing advice as I'd not used gabion baskets before. From order to delivery very efficient and smooth. Quality of baskets as advertised and the instructional video on assembly and filling very helpful. I used the wire supplied rather than the spiral connectors to secure basket sides and these were straightforward to use with a little practice and resulted in good strong baskets. The product is versatile, being designed to be customised on site without the need for specialist tools other than good wire cutters which you can buy from them. Delivery was through Tuffnells and the baskets arrived when expected in good condition. Other buyers should be aware that the baskets are delivered flat and can be bulky (depending on sizeand quantity ordered of course) so make sure you're prepared for that.

I’m purchasing for a customer for a radiator cover I was pleased with the brass plate. I thought the backing would have been attached though. I was really disappointed in the packaging as it had split and the mesh was coming out of the sides and getting damaged. Fortunately I can get away with this, otherwise it would have been returned.

Fine Mesh Metals - Gabion Baskets We've had several baskets over a couple of different orders from Fine Mesh Metals and experienced excellent pre-order advice, prompt delivery and very high quality baskets without being crucified by the high delivery charges a lot of other UK-based suppliers added to orders. We were determined to get UK manufactured Gabions because of the amount of cheap imported cages that aren't truly galfan-coated and have inferior welds that don't last very long. These cages are incredibly strong and -loaded correctly - do not bow out of shape at all. Will be ordering again - a great company to deal with.

Second Time Customer and Home garden user; These are great products, I opted for 4mm faces as I wanted a non bulging flat face. I stacked the stone neatly on the face and backfilled with stones and rubble from the garden (saving a fortune to pay to get rid of it) - facing off the sides and the top. I ordered extra Helicoils , fed reinforced hosepipe through and was able to insert led lighting. Easy assembly and instant (ish) wall. Great Customer service - the company called me to check my requirements against my order as I was making some non standard shapes.Fast and easy delivery - definately recommended and i'll be back for project 2!

The gabions are great. The website is a bit glitchy. Details for the gabion steps seem contradictory and a phone calls didn’t really clarify confidently. My basket which I created an account to save and went back to a few days later was lost causing an hours work to be redone. Again a phone call didn’t enable retrieval. Then delivery date was unannounced- I got an email addressed to someone else saying they had been unable to get me by phone ( no missed calls) giving a delivery depot number to call which was the other end of the country and a reference they didn’t recognise! No delivery number was on the dispatch email either. A call to the MD was required to query and I didn’t hear back about delivery before the lorry arrived with my load a half hour later. Luckily we were on site. But, the gabions are good. I ordered 4mm for big ones and faces of little ones and helicoils are great. Allow yourself some space to fold out first to figure which part is the bottom and refold conveniently before getting into your final location if there is limited space. Great solid gabions pre assembled as far as flat packing allows.
