Love this place! The staff are friendly & knowledgeable and on hand to offer advice. Even the owners dogs are very welcoming! I never come home empty handed. Plants galore, stoneware, pots, tasteful garden ornaments and when you're done there's a delightful cafe with a very tasty menu. A great afternoon out for people with green fingers.

I would highly recommend this nursery. I have been 3x times so far and it never disappoints. It is 2 hours away but we travel especially to stock up for the season. It has such a wide variety of perennials and established too. The prices are so reasonable it is it worthwhile to go. It has everything a gardener would need. Good parking, nice café & a customer WC.

I have had two recent visits to buy the plants I needed for a bee and butterfly garden. Not only did I find everything I was looking for, but the staff were very helpful in locating the plants I was looking for and also made a few suggestions. I have suggested to them they could bring these kind of plants into a special area to make it easier for people keen on wildlife gardening to be able to find everything. Keep up the good work!

A proper nursery for people who like plants. Lots to offer on a large site, plants plants for all locations, including great value starter veg plants. It looks like they produce lots of their own plants. Whats more, not a scented candle in sight, and Thompsons famous fish and chips just along the road. Fantastic!

Probably got everything you could wish for, to plant in your garden. Many items ( not all) much cheaper than your typical garden centre. It is more a nursery than a garden centre, with a plethora of plants/shrubs/ trees to choose from - a gardener's paradise. Small cafe with a limited menu, however the food was lovely and would recommend it.

No one can be disappointed with a visit to Vertigrow for all your gardening needs, with stoneware second to none, and while your there a must is a visit to the tea room, for a delightful meal.

Nice selection of pots, plants and sundries, a lot of which are under cover and out of the rain so no need to stay away in inclement weather 😀. Great selection of small vegetable and herb seedlings at £1 50 a pot and some lovely little half hardy plants at 10 for £17.00. Only thing I can criticise is the labelling of the Lilacs which seem to be rather mixed up.

Lots of plants, good prices. Went to look at the tropical fish/ koi department, all very clean tanks. The downside was could'nt find a particular plant i'd gone for, so went to the tills to find someone to ask. A man said can i help you (apparently the owner) so asked him, we followed him at a rate of knots to what i wanted. He picked one up gave it to me, i said i did'nt want that colour, told me more colours further down. Asked him about something else gave me a curt answer and walked off. Another customer nearby commented on what happened, said he's the owner and he's usually got that attitude. Great for customer relations, won't b back.

I always go here for my plants. Great variety and condition. Would deffo recommend. Expanding all the time. Worth visiting! And when you leave, turn left into the A64 then turn right as if you're going into the car wash. You can wait for a very long time trying to turn right onto the A64...

This ever expanding garden centre is a great place to buy bedding plants up to very well established trees. The variety of shrubs is huge and I have very rarely been unable to find either the plant, size of colour and at very affordable price. The staff are helpful and very knowledgeable. The fact that I can usually see professional gardeners and designers buying their stock is as good a recommendation as one can get. Well worth a visit at any time of the year, and particularly now with Easter on the horizon.

One of the largest garden centres I have ever been to, with an incredible amount of plants and pretty much any plant you can think of is found here at a good price. However, it is rather messy and disorganised with lots of random rubbish laying around and a lot of plants tipped over. Apart from that, a good garden centre and one to visit if you are looking for a particular plant and a bit of a tidy and it could be amazing.

Absolutely excellent service, I called in for some winter veg plants and the lady I asked for help was called Ann. I asked her about sprouts and she said I was too late for them but she advised me to get some spring cabbage and she put me in the direction of a sweet variety. Excellent customer care- I recently purchased a very large pot which developed a small crack shortly after purchase (seems to be an issue with the manufacturer, not Vertigrow). Kathy at Vertigrow arranged a replacement and even had it delivered free of charge due to it being too large to fit in a car. Really good customer service resolving an issue efficiently without any fuss. Very happy with the resolution and the continued high standard of service from Vertigrow!

However the visit was ruined slightly as we got to the till and was greeted by a very pushy member of staff. When we asked them for advice on something that was totally not what we wanted for the space we had that when I decided against it I felt the customer service went straight out the window and found the staff quite rude afterwards. Put me right off and would make me think twice about visiting. Such a shame as I thought the centre was amazing and would deffinatly have shopped there often in the future.

We've visited Vertigrow twice on our way back to North Yorkshire and we were so amazed with the variety and quality of the planters. Shame the A64 is such a pig of a road sometimes but its well worth the traffic! *Update*: June 2018. Prices seemed to have shot up! So items like hanging baskets arent as reasonable as they were last year. Prices more comparable to Wyevale but still better range and quality of plants and veg.

Vertigrow is a real surprise. Not only is it an excellent garden centre but it also has a great little cafe which is worth a visit even if you're not in the market for shrubs. I'd especially recommend the Scones which are amazing (even better than those found in Betty's tea room) and the coffee is very good. As for the greenery - Vertigro sells a very wide range of mature trees, tall shrubs and climbers. The plants here seem healthier and more vigorous than any you'd find in a normal garden centre and you'll notice plenty of professional landscape gardeners buying plants here. Keep an eye open for the gorgeous little black dog that often patrols the greenhouses.

Superb place for plant and shrub buying, great advice willingly offered and very high quality and well looked after plants and trees. A64 can be a pain, but if you left turn out of the place go towards malton for a mile or so , and do a right, you can then join the york bound traffic without having to wait for both lanes to clear, just common sense really and its never put us off visiting.

All garden shops should have a cafe as good as Jennie's at Vertigrow. Originally stopped in for a thirsty child, stayed for hot tea, fruit scone with butter and jam, and a salt lake caramel biscuit as well. A nice break from the walking around all the different plants on offer in the nursery.

Can't begin to describe what stock they have here it is huge, from very small plants to huge mature specimens. A great place to get ideas for your own garden. Very knowledgeable staff who are very helpful, you could spend hours walking around, there is a small cafe for refreshments. A word of caution do not expect to find many bargains, this is a seriously priced location, however the quality is second to none.

Visited here today as my landlord has very kindly let me spend lots of his money on fruit trees, bushes and flowers etc! First impressions were great, felt like a theme park for gardeners. Beautiful tall healthy trees everywhere, and row upon row of shrubs etc. The young lady who guided us around, on what admittedly turned into quite an exhaustive search, was without exception, one of the loveliest people I have met - friendly , knowledgeable, charming. I believe her name was Sue? I also wanted to mention the chap who managed to drop two tippers worth of mulch into our transit van, with barely two inches clearance either side - the guy has the eye of a surgeon! Last, it is a bit disparaging to hear negative comments about the dog, who, by the way seemingly greets everyone who visits. In that regard i think them a valuable member of your team. Thank you Vertigrow - you are fantastic.

Just had a back garden makeover. Andrew knew exactly what we were aiming for and boy did he deliver. It's fantastic! Very professional and exceptionally quick. The three guys did not even stop for 5 minutes to drink a cup of tea, they just kept on going. Unbelievable hard working team. The garden was left tidy and looking 200% better.
