Your average launderette experience elevated by the interesting people who frequent it. I've only used it 3 times but each time I've met such characters there - I would recommend it almost solely based on this alone. However I cant deny it's clean, reasonably priced and never too busy.

I went to "Launderette" for the first time yesterday after our local launderette closed down, to wash and dry a duvet. Very impressed, easy to use the machines with touch payment by card, not pockets full of coins (although they do apparently take £1 coins). The dryers are very effective and I left with a clean, dry, duvet after a stress free visit. Thank you

Great for large loads. Happy that payment can be done contactless and no need to have coins. Doesn't look too clean but there is someone cleaning and hoovering every night. I guess it needs a lick of paint and change of carpet now..but either way very convenient

5 stars! Went there today to wash my duvets. I chose the place mainly because of these reviews and I am happy I did so. Machines are working properly, no need for coins and laundry powder + conditioner are available for £1. One wash in a small machine is £5, whilst the large machine is £7. Dryers are priced at £1 for every 8 minutes. Owner came inside once to clean the place, however it was not very nice as it became dusty whilst vacuuming. Place could use a little bit of paint and maybe a different door or window to help ventilate when there's cleaning going on or when there are too many people inside. Overall, a very pleasant experience and will visit again for sure! Thanks

This is a great launderette. Things work. It's clean. It has *contactless* payment, so I don't have to hunt for endless coins. It's cared for. 2x large machines for big stuff and the tumbles work really well too.

James the owner is brilliant. We hadn't used a laundrette before so messaged him through Google the day before using the laundrette asking the most basic of questions, he responding almost immediately with the answers. We were also lucky enough to meet him when using the laundrette itself, lucky as we hadn't realised you had to press the temperature for the machine to start but as James was there he told us to do it. The laundrette its self is very clean and while there James was there hoovering and changing the bags in the bins. There's 5 normal sized washing machines and 2 large. And 4 large dryers. Definitely deserves the 5 stars I've given it.

Monday 20TH December- 21 First time using this Laundrette, clean and tidy used for the first time towards the end of the day, the place is small but clean and tidy and no complaints over the quality of the washing machines. The contactless facility is a good idea saving you having to come prepared with pocketfuls of change - The manager appeared whilst there ,helpful, friendly and able to give advice to customers who were unfamiliar with the machines

Closed for one week from 3rd October for installation of a new shop front. Excellent service, cardmachine operation works well, card machines now programmed for Master Card Debit cards, As well as all other DebitCards. Card payment on all machines, including use by Metrobank Cards now.

James, the owner of the Laundrette, is very quick, helpful and professional when contacted with queries about the Laundrette. He kindly responded to my query within a couple of minutes, even though it was a bank holiday, and again responded very quickly that evening to provide me with receipts for using the Laundrette. Also, all the washing machines and dryers have contactless payment, so you don't have to worry about having the correct change, which is brilliant. I would definitely recommend this Laundrette.

I agree with the COMMENTS - THE BEST laundrette in Oxford. I've been to quite a few and none is in that great shape! All the machines are in working condition and the place itself is clean and well taken care of. Also in which launderette can you pay with a credit card or a phone? It's so important in Covid times when many people and places are cash - less. All that and a good value per laundry compare to others makes it worth a penny.

Great laundrette. You can also pay with cintactless card so no need to go hunting for coins! Good dryers that dry big loads fast. I travel to this particular laundrette always as it's small and never too busy at the times I go (late evenings). I have not used the washing machines so I cannot comment on these but machines look good. The owner James is lovely too. Genuine little independent business. Highly recommend.

Great service. It has 4 large tumble dryers, 2 large washing machines, and 5 regular washing machines. All the machines are payable by contactless card payment (including Apple Pay.) What is not contactless however is the detergent dispenser. You need coins if you want to buy detergent or fabric softener. There is a Waitrose across the road if you don't have any though...

First launderette all over England I have used that takes card payments. I go over road to waitrose to get my ariel three in 1 pods with oxi stain remover. Not many launderettes in Oxford and easy walking from bus depot.

Best launderette in Oxford. The large washing machines are good value at £5 per wash. Parking is available immediately outside (1hr only between 8.30am and 6.30pm, Monday-Saturday). The interior has seen better days but is spotlessly clean and tidy. Very friendly and attentive owner who obviously takes pride in his business. No change machine so bring your own coins or be prepared to walk to Waitrose!

It's a small and clean place. It's very popular and it deserved to be - the machines work well, the prices are very reasonable and the owners are genuinely nice and hard-working. On my very first visit, I put my clothes in the dryer first and paid for 40 mins. I realised what happened and within 2 mins I took them out to move into the washing machine. It was my fault in the end of the day so decided to write off the money. But when I came back at the end of the wash to put them in the dryer, the owner came out and asked me if I lost some money. I said I did but it was my fault. Nevertheless, he game me the £4 back and it was lovely because I could now use it properly towards my drying! I'd recommend to anyone who doesn't have a washing machine, is on a budget and doesn't need any hassles.

Overall very satisfied of this self-service laundry. There are 5 washing machines, 2 large washing machines, and 4 tumble dryers. The only downside is that you need to carry your own coins, because there is no machine to exchange your banknotes for coins. Would be extremely convenient if it was possible to pay by card...

Great location, close to river moorings, so great for boaters visiting Oxford. Small machine £4 plus about £2 for the dryer. Opens early, before 7am. Busy mid afternoons and weekends, best times are before 9am. Also has 2 large machines which are £5. Only £1 coins accepted but dryers accept any coin above 10p.

100% the best place to wash your stuff in whole Oxford!!! Machines are pristine clean and price is 25% lower than anywhere else. Owner is 99% time on site to help or provide you with change, who does that these days??? Using this place every week and driving through all city in rush hour spending in car about 50 minutes proves that this place doesn’t have any competition in hygiene, value, and fantastic customer service!!! Absolute ****** if I could. Fantastic job!!!!

Great Laundromat (Launderette). We went after 6pm and the owner was there tidying up. He was super nice. There are 5 regular size washers and 2 commercial, £4 or £5 respectively (as of July2018.) The dryers are timed and take pence or pounds - coins only. There is detergent available for purchase. There is a number to call if you run into troubles. We had none. Everything was in working order and operated as expected. We even got to run down to the chinese food place (left out of the laundromat) to get a bite to bring back. There is also ample bench seating in there. Remember to PUSH on the door to go in, don't pull :).

The owner asked me to leave a review if I liked the place so here I am. This place was a lifesaver. It was easy to get to and washer and dryers were available. I'm so glad it was open on a Sunday evening when just about everything else was closed. Make sure you do bring pounds with you because the nearest store is far. The place was clean (the owner was actually cleaning the machines and entire place while I was there). The dryers were very efficient. I appreciate the hospitality. I will be sending others.

I would definitely recommend this Launderette! I have just started using it as my washer at home is broken. It's clean inside, has a wooden bench that you can perch on whilst you're waiting and my clothes came out smelling cleaner than they do usually! Also a reasonable price, friendly and helpful owner, and a great location on Botley Road between Aldi and Waitrose - so you can also pop to the shop whilst you're waiting!

One of the few launderettes open on Sunday -- and till 9 pm every day. As others have noted, bring one-pond coins for the washing machine and driers because there is no change machine. The driers also take 10p, 20p and 50p coins. The washing machines and driers are very efficient. Parking a car is a challenge: there is a small parking bay on Botley Road but parking in nearby streets is restricted to residents.

I’ve been in Oxford with my husband for two weeks and we had to wash some clothes somewhere close to center and we found this place online and having good reviews we decided to check it out. Long story short, this is the second time we’ve come here to wash our clothes and we’re happy we’ve found this place. The first time we didn’t know how to use the machines but there was another customer here who helped us with the instructions. Either way, it’s fast, it’s cheaper than other places and we would recommend this laundry service!

Very happy to find this launderette when my washing machine broke recently. Unlike the other ones I tried in Cowley Road and Abingdon Road, the hot washes were hot and reasonably priced and the machines and environment in good order. Also met James the owner. A lovely chap. Great launderette but rude customer. I was using one of the 2 big machines for bedding. Lady put one bag in second machine but did not start it for 15 minutes when she told me my machine was almost finished. When it finally finished 10 minutes later I put my first item in dryer and turned to get next to find her pulling my laundry out of the machine. I had to ask her to stop touching my stuff. Apparently ok for her to block a machine for 15 minutes but I couldn't have 2 minutes to empty my machine.

This place is a lifesaver when we've got a backup of laundry to do at home (ie. after a long vacation). Prices are very reasonable and the location across from Waitrose is convenient if you don't want to wait around. Opening hours are also very handy. Only downside is the absence of a change machine (which I understand is an insurance issue, so fair enough), so make sure to bring plenty of coins or go buy something at Waitrose.

Easy to find from the train station. Washing machines only take 1 pound coins. There is no change machine available so arrive prepared with plenty of the correct change. I was there on a Tuesday morning between 9 and 11am, and it was pretty busy.

Awesome launderette! The best thing about it is that there is a mobile number on the wall with a super helpful guy at the end of it. If anything breaks, he will deal with it straight away and make sure you get your laundry done. After so many coin ops with no chance of assistance if something goes wrong, this truly is a gem. And everything works and is fairly priced - also rare in Oxford!

It is a great launderette. I go there after 6pm and every time the owner is there to tidy and hoover. Nothing is better than a clean facility when doing your washing! I usually have a pleasant chat with him or I watch out of the window or I read a book, if you want there is a waitrose opposite and a chinese take away next door. I really enjoy it there and the machines are in good working order and clean. I press on the "clean" side of the launderette because I have been in others with rusty looking machines or dirty floor or crumbling walls. Putting my underwear to wash in such an environment really made me queasy. Better be always back to Botley Lauderette ! The machines take new and old £1 coins no problems! If you want a stress free experience avoid the busy times, some people pop out and forget to get back when the cycle is over, if you are one of those people be aware the others are allowed to remove your items from the machine to use it. Overall I just love, it is also a very good price (a huge wash for £5, I mean HUGE) . Frank

Very good- reasonable price - needs a bit of decorating - but functional- the option of card payment is good but limited to 2 machines- so you need to make sure you have about £6 to £12 in pound coins for a wash and dry - depending on the size of the wash - there should be a sign on the door reminding people to wear a face mask in the current situation - customers should also bring hand sanitizer

Functioning launderettes are hard to find in Oxford. We found this on the web. It is small, but the machines are all working. The coin-operated soap machine was not working, but a very kind man, who knows the owner, said he would give me some soap powder. He did and he advised which cycles to use. Clothes were done in 30 or so minutes and on to the dryer, which worked very well. The kind gentleman put an out of order sign on the soap machine and notified the owner of the faulty machine. Another customer said the owner is very quick to make things work again. Thank you to the fine gentleman in the soon-to-be-camper-van ambulance for his kindness and we are happy to have clean clothes. We would go back. There is a note saying the launderette will be closed for a week around October 10 to install a new store front. Check before going.
