Reviews of Cold Town House
N. D.
It did not disappoint.
I really wanted to come to this bar as for the many good reviews I have read. It was hard to find a table even with the booking. I had to rearrange a bit our plans, but it was totally worthy.
We were at the rooftop bar. Great atmosphere and amazing view of the castle.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. Service was quick and attentive.
We had a couple of drinks and a pizza, which I must say, it was very good! Coming from Naples, it’s difficult form me to find good pizza, and this was so good. Perfect dough and fresh ingredients.
They have a lot of vegan and gluten free options as well.
We had really good time. Must come back!
D. N.
A great pub on many levels including nice roof terrace bar with a view of the castle. The roof top bar also has a van parked on it where they serve the drinks and cocktails from. There are also old ski gondolas you can sit in. They brew a nice selection of beers to try instead of the usual commercial fare. We didn't try the pizzas while we were there but they looked and smelt amazing.
L. L.
Great place! Fabulous atmosphere and friendly staff. Kids menu available.
The food was fantastic! They certainly have a unique menu. Outstanding pizzas and my halloumi salad were divine!
D. V.
Amazing place! Everything from the food to the place itself is excellent. Although it specialises in beer, it has some amazing pizza and a vegan friendly menu! The portions are huge and the staff very attentive. When I was there with a friend, we accidentally spilled water all over, and the staff was really nice and helpful about it. I particularly loved the 'Meadows' pizza. The decor is really cool too. Definitely worth it.

What an absolute gem of a bar this is!
Edinburgh Cocktail Week and we thoroughly enjoyed this cocktail which is their signature drink.
With the £8 wristband it was only £4.
The staff were so helpful and accommodating to our needs and served us with a helpful manner. The atmosphere is delightful and we would go back in a flash!
Food was cracking! Pizza and truffle fries!!
A gem in the city and what a time we had! Thank you!!
T. M.
A cracking place to meet family and share a few drinks over some decent food , I had the double burger with loaded fries while the daughter had a pizza and the wife had the chicken burger , the Cold Town lager was very good and the girls enjoyed some of the gins , atmosphere was good ,music bouncy but not loud , lots of groups having a laugh and enjoying socialising again. Well recommended if in the Grassmarket area
P. A.
First time visiting we sat on the rooftop with a nice view of the castle.
Food and drinks were lovely!
Pizza and the churros is a must recommend from us 👌🏻
Cocktails were lovely as well x
G.
Fantastic restaurant/bar with castle views. Make sure you book a table outside on a sunny day. Great atmosphere and good food.
S. C.
Cute rooftop view/area! The staff was sweet and accommodating but I think that they were slammed and understaffed so we didn’t have great service. We got the Leith pizza which was fine but would highly recommend the triple Mac and cheese side (it’s quite big) and was better than expected.
E. E.
Perfect spot for a beer by the castle. Its cosy feel paired with the large, open design of the restaurant means a party of 10 can feel as at home as a couple on a date. The menu itself is a simple but works, with a neatly refined list of home-brewed beers. The buildings stunning view of the castle from its rooftop terrace is the perfect cherry on top, definitely worth checking out.
D. W.
Food was great, vibe was cool in the restaurant. It was too chilly to sit outside, but you do have a full view of the castle (which is why it is a little pricier). Great beer as well.
V. B.
Enjoyed a brilliant Scottish breakfast with some great lattes. Definitely worth coming here.
PS: first time having haggis and really enjoyed it 👍🏼
J.
Fantastic welcoming helpful and friendly staff. Great food &a relaxed atmosphere. The rooftop terrace is stunning.A must have for a romantic meal.l would definitely recommend Cold Town House
S. R.
Large and funky multi-level bar. They have their own beer and fun cocktails. Outdoor roof area and space out front as well.
F. M.
This place has it all...stunning scenery, charismatic cocktails, brilliant beer and fantastic food! Would definitely recommend to any Edinburgh visit. Roof terrace bar is booked about 2 months in advance so bear in mind while planning your trip.
J. T.
Slightly overpriced food considering the portion size, but delicious nonetheless. Place is very clean and the staff were attentive. Good selection of drinks to go with your meal. This restaurant knows it can charge high-end prices to its customers, and that they will consider it worth it due to the quality. It was fairly busy while I was dining there, but service was still relatively quick. I recommend this restaurant.

Came here for some drinks one weekend. It’s a bit “lads lads lads” but tries to mask it well - it’s in a great location and the outside seating area was nice.
We moved inside to a table upstairs and the downside of this was that every thirty minutes a server/hostess came and gave us a countdown saying how long we had the table for. It made us want to leave early - we got that someone else was coming in but being given a two hour warning 4/5 times every thirty minutes was a bit much.
The drink prices were reasonable and if you’re looking for a similar vibe to Wetherspoons but not then this is for you.
Didn’t have food but a friend did and it look decent.
M. H.
Was recommended to us by the hotel, as a place locals like to go. Had a cool vibe and great energy. Lots of cocktail options and menu looked good. We shared a flight of their own craft beers, they were average at best. Everything else was cool and fun though.
A. H.
One of the best and tastiest American Pale Ales I have had. Pizza was very nice as well. Bottom end of The Grass market.
M. B. (. E. m. E.
This place. You need to be here. If it's nice out, you need to be on the rooftop. The staff are amazing, the food is good, but the beer is why you're here...right?!
A. b.
Lunch and drinks at Cold Town House on Saturday was first rate. Great food enjoyed by all but what sets it apart from other bars is the service. Professional but relaxed. Attentive without being all over you. Absolutely brilliant place to eat, drink and watch rugby!
P.
I really liked their Neipa beer. You should visit this pub at least once in your life.
T. H.
The outdoor terrace is so lovely, especially in the summer as it offers a beautiful view of Edinburgh Castle and is just picturesque in general. We have come here twice and personally, the beer and pizza isn't my favourite. On my second visit, I ordered the halloumi and squash salad which was really tasty and my husband ordered the bacon burger. The burgers and fries here are delicious and I highly recommend this place for that! The buns looked perfectly toasty, the food was hot to order and tasted really good. For beers, you can order a flight to try different kinds of what they have on draft. I couldn't find it on the menu, so definitely ask your waiter or waitress for it if you are interested in trying it out. My husband really enjoyed the beer flight and was surprised to like some that he didn't think he would! So the beer flight was a great experience for him. I opted for the Strawberry Nolito to give my liver a break and it was so refreshing! I do think this place is great for a lot of different people for different tastes. Plenty of different kinds of food and drink options to keep a large party happy! Definitely worth a visit, if anything to catch up over a drink in their terrace on a nice day.
K. R.
Great drinks and bar food and amazing pizzas from a proper pizza oven. The location has multiple levels with ground floor like a rustic bar, the first floor like a love restaurant with views to their brewery area and the roof top has spectacular views of the castle
E. S.
Unfortunately we were told there was no space on the roof terrace, so I would recommend booking beforehand to avoid disappointment. It took some time for us to be seen at the door as the workers seemed busy. Once our server Hollie sat us, she was so lovely and very attentive. I was disappointed the cajun grill wasn't available but the pizza I had instead was delicious! This place has a very relaxed atmosphere so I would recommend for a casual meal and drinks.
E. C.
A fabulous bar with even better views. What an amazing establishment. From the onset it was just stunning and even better on the inside. I could not praise the staff more if I tried, genuinely fantastic at what they did. The fire pit in the middle bar was a lovely surprise.
r. c.
House brewed beer is defo one of best, specially Edinburgh Dog is a must try along with there IPA. Food is tasty as well, specially the Sirloin steak with fries, braised beef loaded fries and buffalo chicken loaded fries are awesome. Serving time is good enough and folks serve with a smile. Overall super nice ambience and definitely worth more than one visit.
J.
Had a great visit to this pub as a group of friends in couples, and we loved the lager and cocktails.
We only had snacks to eat, fries, Churos etc we were mainly drinking but what we had was great.
Prices were similar to everywhere else in Edinburgh, so not overpriced.
Great atmosphere and we would definitely return.
F. A.
Really cool decor, staff all followed rules really well, good atmosphere. Beautiful view of the castle. Would be amazing in the sun but bring jackets and blankets if the weather is Scottish because there’s not full cover in the beer garden. Food was delicious (recommend the pizza and burgers especially) and I really liked the cocktail selection. I got the ‘Basic B*tch’ cocktail which was lovely, and my flatmates had a bottle of White Zindafel, a pint of lager and a Mocha Old Fashioned which were all lovely, just perhaps slightly expensive. Please note that they offer you shots on a tray, they will add to your bill (the limoncello shots were delicious though, highly recommend). The staff messed up the bill at the end but was easy enough to fix and handled professionally, hence why still 5 stars. Coming again soon!
S. T.
Nice place. Lovely staff - very accommodating and helpful. Ask for a taster of their beers! I really liked their lager, but enjoyed everything I tried. Very good burger and I've heard great things about the pizzas... Good excuse to go back!
S. B.
Great pizza!!!!! Nice atmosphere, lovely bathrooms too, really nice servers and good service. Have to book in advanced for the terrace on a sunny day so we couldn’t do that but we came early to book for the Prosecco pizza room which was lovely super comfy!
S. O.
Fantastic venue where the food and drink are second to none. Service is great albeit a little slow however this was due to how busy it was and there only being a few servers to do everything. We will be back very soon!
M. S.
Jordan was brilliant. He balanced attentiveness with his excellent service. We had fun and enjoyed our meal. Few of us are vegans and the food was brilliant. You must have the Nae Bull burger. Fantastic. Wasn’t bloated after eating the lot. Pizza for my kids were great. If you ask they keep it nice and simple no buts on it.
And the Merch…. Well we had to get a hoody and beanie. Love it
You must go, oh and the view from the terrace is awesome. You can see the castle!!
Did I say, you must go
M. R.
Had lunch with the family here. Portions were good sized the food was delicious and the house beer was top shelf. Highly recommend the New England pale ale and the lager. The fries are the best we’ve had in the UK by far. The halloumi fries were also great. The pizza is stone baked to perfection and the burgers are thick and juicy. Great ambiance, and helpful staff. On a side note they even gave me a tasting of their pudding ale which was a good kind of different.
A. D.
Stellar local brewery with a good rooftop garden and in a central location. Beers are a bit pricey, but I love their beer rotation. Try a beer flight, 4 small taster style beers on a platter, gives you a good range of all their current on tap for a great price.
H. B.
Cold town house is in a lovely location and has a great friendly and lively vibe even on a Thursday! The prices weren’t terrible and it was lovely for a drink!
M. T.
Great night celebrating a postponed Xmas do. The food was gorgeous and great size portions. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Thanks for a lovely evening
T. B.
On Saturday June 5th, myself and my partner attended the beer experience in the Cold Town House Brewery in the Grass Market area, Edinburgh. The experience was hosted by Luke. Luke was very friendly and knew absolutely everything about brewing beer and told it in a way that you didn’t get bored. We had plenty of beers to sample and at the end of the experience we even poured our own beer, which we had with a pizza of our choice, all included in the price. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to learn about the brewing process of beer. Luke was a star and we will certainly be popping into the Cold Town House for a lovely pint the next time we are in Edinburgh.
J. P.
Had food in the pizza and prosecco bar.
I had a Morningside pizza and my partner had the meadows. Both pizzas were outstanding. The broccoli was a little weird on the meadows pizza but was outstanding nonetheless.
For drinks, I had the Edinburgh donkey, which was outstanding and my partner had the Hot Terrace Vibes cocktail which looked and tasted the part.
May be a bit pricy, but worth it for the quality of product and atmosphere. The staff were great too!
N. h.
Great service at all stages of the visit
Pizza and halloumi fries are amazing!
Strawberry daiquiri gorgeous!
And got a glass of fizz to celebrate our 10 year anniversary!
S. O.
Fantastic location! Staff are incredibly helpful and polite. I was a bit disappointed by the house lager considering its brewed on site, but the other beers I had were lovely.
A. B.
We had no reservation so we had to eat at the bar. Would have loved to sit on the rooftop! Food was good (little too much salt and chili), service was alright.
K. L.
Pizza and drinks were great. Definitely book a reservation a head of time if you want to be on the rooftop. It’s super busy so it’s hard to get a good table.
K. P.
Came here for the end of night drinks. Managed to reserve a table, atmosphere was great good music, no dance floor though.
We ordered two of the towers of beer they do, massively disappointed with those. Beer was flat and just not pleasant to drink at all. The beer was replaced however we were told that's how lager comes (flat) so opted for a few pints instead which was better.
H. B.
Great food , nice cocktails and lovely views also enjoyed the little cable carts , which are funky.
G. M.
4 stars just because i been waiting for 10 minutes at the entrance of the place. To be honest i wouldn't blame the staff, they weren't enough for such a big place. All of them nice and professional
C. W.
I was supremely impressed with this very special restaurant and brewery set in the center of Edinburgh. I thought it might be a bit touristy but it was very authentic. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and there were some unique items on the menu. There's a big beer selection and many are brewed in-house. I highly recommend having a drink on the rooftop.
H.
A must visit when in Edinburgh. The view from the rooftop terrace is awesome!
J. S.
Lovely bar/restaurant win a micro brewery! We tried quite a few of the beers and they were all delicious. Wide selection of drinks other than beer if that’s what you fancy.
The staff was very friendly and allowed us to bring our dog in which was really appreciated. We didn’t try the food but the restaurant area was quite busy and it smelled pretty good.
L. R.
Went for my 30th last night and loved it! Terrace views are amazing and the fire pits keep you warm. Great staff and food.
Z. J.
Really really loud, drinks were nice and good selection, good food too, but if you want to be able to hear the people you're with, probably best to avoid going in the evening
A. W.
Nice building. 3 floors lots of space. Beer garden on the roof isn't particularly big. Great views of the castle. Cold town beer is nice. Pricey for beer but is grass market and £5 pints are to be expected. Not a fan of fake plants. If your going to have plants have real ones. Nobody likes fake things pretending to be real. Don't have a handle on the roof top bar door as difficult to access while holding drinks. Good use of heating lamps on the roof.
J. R.
Nice place to have a beer (or maybe two...). Easy to see TVs, would be useful to see sports. Cold Town beer tastes great!!!
G. L.
I have been going to cold town house since it opened, but the quality has fallen so far that I don't think I will be back
At my recent visit the staff looked overworked, the bar tender seemed fed up and the atmosphere was drab.
The pizza is still very good, but probably not as amazing as smaller placed like Pomo.
They had no GF beer and I ordered for cocktails but these were at best mediocre, consistantly overly sweet and weak. Kind of a shame they didn't have any gf beer with superb gf brewery Bellfield right in town. No excuse really for not being able to offer a gf beer. Plus at £150.00 for 5 pizzas and a couple of drinks it felt pricey.
I fear that CTH has reduced itself to focusing on tourists, as their quality standards don't seem to care if they get repeat business.
I can't fault the staff, they were working hard and as attentive as they could be. The place just has totally lost it's vibe. Try a local place if you want to avoid the tourist trap rip off.
The gas for their

What an awesome place. Get yourself up on the roof bar and if you're lucky into one of the cable cars, such a great experience. Amazing views of Edinburgh Castle with an amazing choice of beers brewed in house
S. A.
One of the best experiences we had in Edinburgh. A small beer brewery serving their own beer, together with homemade pizza. What could go wrong? to make it better, they offer different specials along the week so you can enjoy without having to spend much! Make sure you order their beer tasting tray to make your experience extra 👌🏼
V. L.
Fantastic multi storied bar and restaurant with something for everyone. A great range of beers, cocktails and wine. Food is decent too. I had a hanging chicken skewer and my partner a pizza - both were good.
Views from the roof are fantastic.
E. s.
This place was quite unexpected - thought that it was going to be a bit naff but actually they had Tiny Rebel on tap, the guy behind the bar was very knowledgeable as the snacks that we had were delicious
T. D.
Food, drink, and vibes were great- service downstairs was excellent, service on the rooftop (dinner) could be more attentive!
D. P.
Scottish pub frequented by locals. The atmosphere is super cool! Good live music. Good beer choices. It has several tables and some counters to settle down and eat something. I found a great place for single people! Prices are reasonable. I recommend!
A.
3 level restaurant and brewery with a rooftop offering great views of the Edinburgh Castle. Staff is super friendly. Went to drink in the afternoon at the rooftop. Came back for dinner at the second level, great authentic Italian pizza. Cocktails and home brewed beer are both great.
L. B.
Popped in on Saturday after our meal for a drink or two and ended up staying for a few. The rooftop terrace is brilliant can see part of the castle and they have a funky wee van serving cold town beer which was really nice. Went downstairs to main bar and had a few nips and not too expensive. Will be back to try the food but an excllent pub and loved the upcycled sinks in the toilets.
P. P.
Great location, very friendly staff but have yet to try the food. The bar staff were very knowledgeable with the whiskeys and cocktails and I look forward to coming back and trying the food as I have heard so many good things. I was also lucky enough to get a ticket for New Year’s Eve which was lots of fun and I had the most amazing views of the fireworks from Edinburgh castle above.
S. N.
Very nice place to visit and stop for a beer!
In case the weather allows it, be sure to go all the way up and drink something on the terrace. The view of the castle is amazing (see pictures).
They serve a lot of beers including a couple of homebrews. They have a great tasting option on the menu which lets you pick 4 homebrews for only £7.
On the second floor (inside the prosecco bar) you can have a look ar their brewing installation.
Everything inside has a beer theme, even the toilets.
H. B.
We are invited to a large party with more than 20 friends, booked the longest table near the live music stage and bum! lot of funs. The 🍺 is pretty nice albeit a bit pricey. It has high roof with lot of fresh air. The first floor could be more suitable if you want more personal and clear chats since the ground is a bit noisy. One of the air condition in the end of the ground floor seem not working. The show end at 1AM and before that we came to the stage to take group picture, we should step down afterwards but some friends remains. However, the in-house security guy with suit was quite of impolite way to address us like children. 3/5 is suitable.
d. f.
There is a new brewery in town. Right but not the key point. There is a new terrace with an unique sight on the castle. True but still. There is a new brewery with an amazing terrace, live music which happens to also have a pizza oven where they make napolitana style pizza. Yes!!! And the pictures speak for themselves, but that's not all. Organic multicereal flour, pale ale in-house brewed beer to give flavour to the dough. And san Marzano DOP tomato sauce, fior di latte mozzarella, spianata calabrese DOP salami, fontina DOP, and I could go on forever... Pizzeria 1926 has been my favourite pizzeria in the past in Edinburgh, followed by pizza Posto (very nice dough but the ingredients are far from top quality).
I know it is Grass market, surrounded by average quality touristic places, that from outside seems more a place to have beers and nibbles, but you have to give a try to this pizza. Right now this is my Edinburgh first choice. Without a doubt. Ah, special pizza of the week is with smoked (in house) potatoes, fontina and parmesan cheese, mozzarella and fennel sausage (made in house). I am still dribbling.
M. C.
Nice wee bar in a converted Church. Pouring various native and guest beers, along with a wide spirit selection. They also have a terrace bar set in the shadow of the Castle.
Would've liked to see taster flights of the Cold Town Beers so I could try them all.
A. M.
One of my fave spots when I was in Edinburgh. Beautifully decorated for the holidays. Great pizza. Great views of the castle from the top floor. Highly recommend!
G. T.
Great Italian Pizza and my daughter highly rated the burger too. As a local, I normally avoid the grass market. But this place would make me venture down here, great micro brewery too.
Yet to check out the roof terrace on the floor above us, imagine that has amazing views of the castle. Will be a great spot in the sunshine.
Good to see something really cool done with this once unused space.
Callum who was looking after us was super friendly and made us feel super relaxed; attention to the small details was spot on.
#update - just popped up to see the roof terrace. We’ll be back. Very cool venue.
V. H.
Great Beer platters, Great Food, great live Music. After asking some of the locals where the best place to go for a birthday dinner, they recommended Cold Town House. It was a perfect evening celebration with great food and live music.
F. T.
Great views of the castle from the door top terrace. But on the terrace is a limited bar, meaning it doesn't do the full drinks menu but you're more than welcome to go down to the bar and bring your drinks up. If you're doing this I would recommend using the lift. Lovely staff and great mix of cocktails. Plenty of space in ground floor bar and they also gave a prosecco and pizza bar.
C. S.
Cold Town House is a wonderfull enviroment and a great use of the building with a Bar on the entry floor a open roof top bar and a neapolitan pizzaria in the middle. The property is wel decorated and fantastically furnished. Drinks were well priced and made quickly. A lack of veriety on the rooftop bar makes for a bit of a unplesent experiance when you trek 1 or 2 floors away to find a drink...
The atmosphere and the likeability of the roof top space make the premises and what a great space to hang out in.
K. P.
Nice place with great beer and good food.
K. W.
Visually stunning inside and out. Giving three stars because the staff were extremely rude and waiting ages to be seated despite making a booking. Food took over an hour to arrive.
However the security guard was extremely lovely!
G. I.
Good beer; eclectic mix of rooms and roof terrace. Solid , tight Glasgow band "Soul Establishment" playing live ...
Great place for a Friday night in Town
D. A.
Great little place although apart from two pods all seating is outside so choose wisely the weather. Good choice of beer and food is great. A little off the beaten track so do your homework to find it. Staff were friendly - well worth a visit.
J. C.
What a great find in the middle of a scorching hot summer day. Great staff, superb craft beer and slushy cocktails too.
J.
Something was really wrong when we visited this place as we were treated like absolute gold and we can’t figure out why? 😂
On arrival the hostess told us that they were fully booked, but that she could re-arrange some chairs and make room for us at the bar. Effort that she didn’t need to make so we really appreciated it.
From this point on we were made to feel like special guests with various members of the team checking in on us, making conversation, telling us all about the city, the beer, the company and ensuring we had everything we needed. We even were given a table on the roof terrace which considering they had no room for us on arrival is great as they could’ve just squeezed us in and forgotten about us. They made sure that we had the full cold town house experience and it was amazing.
This place sets the standard for hospitality. The atmosphere is second to none and that’s a credit to the manager and their team. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tried the Sliced Roast Suckling Pig, Mac N' Cauliflower Cheese, and Cold Town Pale Ale. My thoughts:
Sliced Roast Suckling Pig – Tasty and tender, salsa verde went very well with the meat.
Mac N' Cauliflower Cheese – Nice but could be tastier. It was only nice with the baked crust on top. When it went past that, the cheese was just a little too bland for my taste. Could perhaps use a little paprika?
Cold Town Pale Ale – Smooth and fruity, quite enjoyable.
Visited this pub when it was quite busy so service took a while. However, the wait staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Loved the layout of the pub too. Sat on the first floor and it looked spacious and cosy. Great place!
a. e.
Great venue and great location. Couldn't get a table on the rooftop but inside was really nice too. Enjoyed the selection of beers. Table service took quite a long time to get anyones attention to order another drink though, and quite pricey at £6 a pint but that's to be expected at such a nice venue and location I suppose.
R. H.
Love the rooftop bar on a sunny evening!! They have a really cool vibe here, with a great drink and cocktail selection and very friendly service. Spread over several floors, there is also plenty of space for groups.
J. M.
Extremely nice looking bar, great vibe and dope food. Big shoutout to Natasha who booked us in without a hitch, extremely polite and a great representation for the business!
L.
Best beer in Edinburgh. Roof top vibes are unbeatable. Pizza is excellent 👌🏼
H. B.
Visited here (12th dec) at their roof terrace and Finley was super accomodating! Would defo recommemd based purely on how sweet and patient he was! Did his best to ensure we was looked after and not to mention the superb food and beer! Will be back!
J. W.
We visited the roof top bar of Cold Town House the other night whilst on holiday in Edinburgh and we were delighted with our trip! The food was great - I ordered a veggie pizza which was delightful!
We also enjoyed fantastic service from the staff, who were all super friendly and polite!
H. K.
A beautiful bar with amazing terrace with castle view. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staffs were wearing nice formal clothes too and the terrace was stunning. The bar downstairs are pretty too. I'll come again definitely.
W. 9. (.
Great location to see Edinburgh Castle! I would highly recommending visiting here and trying a few of the beers brewed in house. Very cool to see all the equipment.
Slightly disappointed that the outside terrace closes at 2200 but apart from that a great atmosphere and I will definitely be back!
M. W.
I had wanted to go to cold town house for a while by the time we managed a visit, however I am in no bug rush to return.
Went with my mum and sister. We ordered a pizza and some haloumi fries to share along with their Prosecco 'flight' and a cocktail. Our food arrived before our drinks and we had only a few haloumi fries left by the time our drinks eventually did arrive which was disappointing. The pizza tasted nice enough but could have been much hotter! And the haloumi fries were definitely not ones I would rave about or hurry back for.
When it came time to pay, our bill showed that the Prosecco we received was not what we had ordered. The waitress took this to her manager and returned with a revised bill with some money off for the error.
We took our remaining drinks up onto the roof area and managed to get a seat in one of the gondolas which was probably the nicest part of our experience.
The service was slow, especially considering how quite it was and the food was disappointing. My mum was meant to return here the following week with some work colleagues but when she told them of our experience they decided to go elsewhere.
I will maybe return in the future to give the place a second chance and hope for a better experience but am in now rush to do so.

Amazing views of the castle, nice house made beers and a cool beer garden on the top floor! Heaters and blankets mean you can enjoy the terrace at any time of day!
R. B.
Really friendly staff. The food selection is limited. We enjoyed the light bites more than the main dishes. Nice atmosphere inside. The rooftop looks great too but do book early.
F. G. d. R.
Great roof terrace with very friendly personnel who make delicious cocktails. A rather cosy experience.
R. W.
Loved the beer and cabaret. Was a busy Saturday night and the staff were fab! One of the bar staff gave recommendations which worked really well as we were unsure which beers to try. A particular large birthday group were not the best and disrupted the cabaret however I guess that is to be expected at the weekend. Cabaret artistes were professional and talented despite having to compete with the crowd. Will definitely return.
M. S.
Staff makes the place one of the best and enjoyable places in Edinburgh. They are cheery, friendly and very attentive. We have been served by Meaghan today, she has been wonderful. Very thankful for the service and friendliness. Thank you for making our experience amazing 🤩
T. B.
Food was not bad. #vegan
T. M.
Nice place with a terrace, its possible to see the castle there!
Food is good, but not perfect!
S. F.
Classy roof top bar x cable car booths. Heaters and covering , if needed. Fire pit, good tunes and really friendly staff. Beautifully decorated and stunning views of the castle. My new favourite venue in Edinburgh, grassmarket. Easily the best outdoor drinking experience I’ve had xxx

When I think of the cold town house it just brings a warm smile to my face. We had heard about this place via Top Jaw on YouTube and wanted to check it out, we were not disappointed. A warm welcome even though we had not booked, and amazing waiting staff who where attentive, on the ball and always checking to see if we were okay, ordering or just in general wanted anything. You felt like they took pride in what they did. Naturally the queen of pudding in house draught was out of this world and the 6oz burger was to die for. If you're in Edinburgh you must visit cold town house. Thanks team for a truly lovely time.
L. L.
Great rooftop terrace overlooking Edinburgh castle. Waitress was lovely and food was fab. The only thing I would say is the terrace is smaller than I thought from the photos I had seen online. I had also emailed them for availability and never got a response. Luckily we managed to book a slot and I would recommend. Lots of stairs to get up to the terrace so not accessible for people with disabilities. There was a few wasps while we were eating our lunch so kids were a bit anxious about that also.
S. R.
Didn’t get of the best start. We walked in and took a seat, there was quite a few available. Girl came over and asked if we had booked or been seated. Said no and was almost thrown out! Managed to negotiate another table however. Beer was great, view is stunning and the service was really good thereafter
K. M.
Very cool place to eat, they make their own beer, which I found very delicious 👌🏽. I ate pizza and it was great! The staff was very helpful and friendly. Very recommended.
F. G.
Staff were so lovely, we really felt we were being looked after! Pizza and drinks arrived quickly, and we had the most beautiful view of the castle. I would recommend to everyone!
D. J.
Good food, exceptional local beer. We dined upstairs, there's plenty of space, interesting decor, good service. I can't really fault the place!
J. C.
Lovely place! Pizza is fantastic, beer towers are great, lovely staff. Canadian girl was nice and chatty!
C. T.
The two beers we had, the Berliner weisse had a flavour of disinfectant/chlorophenols and the NEIPA was oxidised. On the other hand, the service was great and the bar is nice. So maybe don't buy their house beer 😬
F. M.
Great food, great service, reasonable prices! An altogether good night out!
P. O.
One of the best venues in the Old Town with some good brews
T. K.
Gorgeous place, delicious food, fab menu choice, great service. Super decor and atmosphere. Just go, you will not regret it
T. G.
Nice setting, beer and decent selection of food. Burgers sub par though, and very expensive for what you get. Staff average.
G. K.
During the most challenging of times they provided the most welcoming environment. Great staff, great food, great drinks. Most special thanks to Lorensa for going out of her way to accommodate my wife's birthday. To the management - I request a bonus on her next pay check! Thanks Cold Town House!
G. A.
Staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Myself and two pals booked a table for drinks and food.
The frose was delicious and my pal liked the Cold Town House beer.
Seats are nicely spread out, staff reminded people to wear masks when moving around, toilets were clean.
As soon as the rain stopped, the roof was lifted so you could see the castle.
The flower decor on the front of the building is beautiful too. A real gem in the Grassmarket.
N. P.
Beer was great, nice place to Hang out, good atmosphere, friendly staff.. Food was amazing. Love to go again
C. F.
Went along to the opening night! Atmosphere was great, lovely live band on, and a great singer at the start of the night as well.
Looking forward to trying the Prosecco bar next time!
L. I.
Great pizza, good service, very pretty location, good pricing
M. W.
What a place!
Great vibe , great cocktails and friendly staff
5 stars from me and my partner
We will be returning on this trip.
The slush cocktails were fantastic 😋
Thanks
A. Ł.
Stunning beer garden but overall pretty underwhelming. Beers advertised as on draught were actually only available in cans. I also asked for a beer which I guess isn’t that popular, and I had to show it to the waitress on the menu cause she didn’t know what I was talking about (maybe she was new).. wouldn’t go again
S. O.
Knowledgeable staff, fine beer, great cocktails and a roof terrace
J. T.
Terrace was very nice, had to wait for our table. Very limited menu, pizza & burgers, should have checked the menu on line before booking. Would highly recommend for a drink only.
B. M.
Lovely place inside and out. Staff were super friendly. Cocktails and pizza were both delicious. Would love to come back. Thanks again!
D. S.
It's a great new place with a good selection of beer and the most amazing roof terrace:-) + the pizza is good
P. c.
Walked in on a Saturday night not expecting to get a seat as hadn’t made booking, staff greeting us were friendly and helpful and got a table straight away. Once in serving staff attentive. A fantastic experience.
w. j.
The pizza was amazing! The place has a cool vibe
P. G.
Great staff, beer and atmosphere. The Dancin Photographer on FB!
B. A.
Visited CTH on several occasions. The staff are so lovely and helpful.
One particular girl whom I think was called leona was so happy and fast with her service.
The place has a great vibe 10/10
t.
Fantastic brew pub, some fine choices of beer, good looking food and great cocktails. The best feature though is the picturesque beer garden, looking up to the castle. I was there on a pleasant day, imagine the place would be buzzing when the sun is out, though inside was clean, bright and nice looking too. Helpful and friendly staff. A bar certainly worth visiting.
C. K.
Beautiful rooftop bar. Great customer service.
j. r.
A must see. Great views of the castle. Pics from the terrace bar
L. F.
We came to ColdTownHouse where every single staff member couldnt do enough for you. Very warm and friendly enviroment with fast service, lots of food and drink to choose from. It was a pleasure to be there!
D. C.
Great beer, location, decor and service. Loved the roof terrace and brewery stuff all around.
S. S.
Great food, live music, experimental cocktails. An oasis of greatness in a very touristy area
D. B.
Amazing place with a great atmosphere & it has the beat pizza.
M. M.
Good selection of drinks and great food... Would especially recommend the pizzas! Relaxed atmosphere through the day downstairs (in the main bar) with a nice restaurant and roof terrace. Couple of tvs for watching the rugby but not a key part of the offer. So good, I spent the whole day there working my way through the food and cocktails menu. Lots of guest beers if that's your thing too. Will be back.
S. F.
had a fabulous time yesterday - only problem was the dismal rain. all the staff were great and friendly. drink and food was great too - would have enjoyed more if I didn't have to wear my gloves!!
L. F.
Amazing brew house and bar! Great food (we had pizza) and very friendly service. They offer beer tastings for free before you place your drink order.
Rooftop bar is a must visit for its view of the castle.
K. A.
Good atmosphere. Decent beers and friendly staff. Nice interior design in the toilets too but whoever designed the layout had never played The Sims before. Toilet door will slam into anyone washing their hands. Other than that, great venue.
C. G.
I went here with friends on Saturday night and it was amazing! The decor is first class, the servers were so friendly and there was a fantastic choice of drinks. They have live bands playing at the weekend and the female singer that we heard was brilliant. Can't wait to go back and try their pizzas the next time!
J. W.
Pints with friends, family or strangers is always a treat here, guest beers and lagers and honestly they’re always amazing
Restaurant upstairs is worth a try too with the real Italian stone pizza oven and the rooftop is just amazingly beautiful and offers great pictures of the picture at day or night
D. K.
Absolutely fantastic place! We were recommended to visit the Cold Town House and it did not disappoint. The beer brewed on site is fabulous, the food is great and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, we absolutely loved it. Add to all this a roof terrace with a view of Edinburgh castle, cable car seating pods and a citreon van bar ... it doesn't get much better!
G. H.
Brilliant bar with lots of brew options and a stunning view over Edinburgh Castle from the terrace!
M. G.
Amazing location, great drinks, highly recommended
D. H.
Really great place. It's like a taproom meets a upscale restaurant / club which sounds like it shouldn't work but it kind of does. The beers are good and there's plenty to choose from and the staff are good with suggestions. Pizza was ok too. Service a bit slow at times but otherwise a great visit.
D. L.
Best views in Edinburgh from a pub. Make sure you book in advance. The beer towers are excellent value as well
S. M.
Great pizza, particularly the vegan option, and great beer, what more could you want? Book a table on busy days or at the weekend.
G. J.
Amazing venue - every one of the three levels is so well designed. So different from the usual city venues. Especially loved the open air terrace with the ski lift gondolas (want one for our garden!) and the retro ice cream van, the on-site brewery and the beer keg basins in the loos.
Staff were well informed and welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and great to see that mega high temperature pizza oven in action on level 1. We pigged out with a big selection of food - not your boring old regular fare! I really liked being able to mix small bites with main course plates - so much choice for all tastes. Recommend the cod with kedgeree. Will be back soon to have the roast chicken stuffed with a can of beer ... saw a group tucking into this and it looked fantastic! Looking forward to the live music too..
J. G.
Great choice of drinks and lovely pizzas served here. Over 3 floors there's a room for everyone. Roof terrace was a fantastic bonus to find with a view up to the castle. Highly recommend that you visit here when in Edinburgh
D. A.
Great catch up with friends for food and a couple of beers. Excellent, attentive staff - always highly recommended. Thanks!
p. g.
Spacious, funky roof terrace but service was very slow. 15 mins from the point of ordering until I got the 4 drinks. Some issue with finding cocktail ingredients!! Even though the Highland Park cocktails is their main promo no one seemed to have a clue. Disappointed in service.
J. K.
Food was great and the table beer taps
D. T.
Ordered a mini keg of the NEIPA for a camping trip, they were able to shuffle some things around to deliver in time and it was delicious. Excellent service and beer
H. D.
Attended with friends and family for graduation.
Food was decent quality and for the price there is nothing to argue about.
Be cautious when ordering drinks as if there is an order or cocktails in front of you expect your water / wine to take 15 minutes to get to you.
Cool "trendy" place. Will be interesting to see how it performs in a few mo ths after the initial rush of customers from new opening and summer rush subsides.
To be honest there's plenty of other places with "authentic Italian pizzas" which I Jo longer find a usp.
J. B.
Great beer selection and superb ambiance. It is well located in a plaza with many restaurants and pub. The crowd was lively and the band did a great job especially the rendition of the Eurythmics. They have a great selection of beer and we tried a few which were all good: lager, red, and IPA.
I. C.
I'm a fan of any place with a fire myself. Gives a good atmosphere!
P. B.
Staff very friendly. Food is first class. Have a nice selection of beer and lagers.we got to sample some before made our minds up. Went there twice, each night the guys performing were excellent.
A. C.
Excellent pizza, tasty beer, good selection. Has a roof terrace which wasn't open but i imagine it would have great views. Live music was good but would have liked it at a level where conversation was easier. Otherwise spot on.
G.
When Instagram = reality it's a dream come true. Loved everything about our visit to Cold Town House. From the choice of drinks and food to seating style. Quirky design but maybe next time I will be able to visit the roof top terrace. Food was excellent especially the Wednesday pizza and beer deal. Staff were enthusiastic, chatty and friendly. Will definitely recommend and visit again. Thanks
R. G.
Amazing place, staff so accommodating and the 6 PT of cold beer went down well with the lads.
K. S.
Food tasted fantastic. Two downsides. 1: it is definitely more of a pub than restaurant and 2: we were enjoying a lovely family meal when the football was put on the large TV very loudly so we couldn't really hear each other.
C. B.
Amazing rooftop bar with delicious beer and pizza
D. K.
Recommend by Just Go as a great place to go, we cannot disagree! Seriously enthusiastic staff, fantastic beers, pizza is great.. But more than that an experience rather than just a bar, the gondolas on the terrace where the ones I rode in the the three valley's 20 odd years ago! 🤭 Brilliant
K. M.
Excellent vision for the site and execution seems to have hit the mark. Really high quality drinks on offer for reasonable prices, fantastic aesthetics, and good food too. At the moment it's very popular so difficult to nab that rooftop spot everyone is after, and communication about seating on the 1st floor is a bit vague (the hostess on the ground floor appears overwhelmed too, which doesn't help) - issues which are a result of success. Definitely will be back, and very glad to have this unique venue in the city.
P. Y.
Always liked this venue, even before when it was known as The Lot. Love the new interior, the wee stage for live music, the micro brewery - very nice lager. Staff really friendly and great service. Didn't have any food but what I saw being served looked appealling.
C. M. (.
Good service lovely staff well organised with sanitizer and good table service. Bit of a limited array of drinks though but a good pace lovely view of the castle good location.
C. B.
Cold town house is getting an icon of Scotland, probably this is the nicest place on grassmarket for the greatest view of the castle from the terrace, is a compromise between posh and cheap.
The cocktail are great, (cold town house beer is a good beer) the pizza is great, the rest of the food NO, is average pub food.
The price are average of the area.
Merit a visit at list.
G. M.
Really quirky new venue on The Grassmarket. A lovely place to go for a few drinks. Staff, drinks and service are excellent.
On the particular day we visited there was live music, the band were very good, but unfortunately far too loud. Having any form of conversation was impossible unless we were by the bar as far from the band as possible.
H. P. N.
Love the beer dispensers so much fun!!! Would be great if they had more ciders on draught. Good service and amazing location/views
J. R.
Another great visit and this time the weather was good and we didn’t need the heater. Food & drinks great and staff are lovely.
k.
Tasty pizza, nice roof terrace, friendly staff.
A. H.
Great food, beer was iffy but not bad.
F. G.
Great and cosy drinks and food. Pub grub mostly but very comforting
S. M.
We went here to watch the rugby on Saturday and found it to be busy but not overcrowded which was nice. The decor is lovely and modern, toilets are fab and what beautiful smelling hand wash they have! The staff were very attentive and knowledgable of the beers they offer. The beers are all made in house and they have many different types, lager, ale, pale ale, a chocolate ale and many more. All very well priced at £4.60 a pint!
The cocktails are lovely, I had a Bakewell punch that tasted exactly like a Bakewell tart!
They have 2 bars and a roof terrace, the roof terrace is the place to be in the summer! Can't wait to come back and sample more of what they have to offer.
P.
This place has some of the best pizzas I've had in a long time! All the food is incredibly reasonably priced as well, and a great selection of drinks - beers and otherwise! Recommend booking because it can get really busy.
E. V.
Super awesome atmosphere, really cool place. Three levels of seating, including the rooftop terrace! Lots of selection of house brewed beers and good array of food available.
C. C.
Wonderful new venue in the Grassmarket. Full working brewery and brewhouse with a massive range of own and guest beers. The pizza oven on the first floor makes the most beautiful Neapolitan pizzas in town and the views from the rooftop terrace are amazing. Top place!
P. M.
A very nice and relaxed place there's 3 floors and it goes from a fancy calm place to a relaxed pizza shop to a roof top bar. Their beers are great and the pizza even better. Would come back any day.
D. G.
What a great venue. Great service. Lovely staff and they were even showing the Liverpool game!
M. G.
The had f1 spa qualy on when george russel got his p2. What a lunch.. oh yes.. the burger was delicious 😅😁
H.
During covid 4 star: nice drinks and friendly staff. No music which is annoying (governments fault). Overall good place to have a drink. Will be back for food as it smelled brilliant!
L. F.
Was fantastic as always the staff are exceptional, I had a friend with me who had never been. She was allowed to try the beers and will be back due to the service and if course the wonderful roof terrace. A*
B. T.
Service was great, drinks were great! No one liked the food though 🤣
K. A.
Amazing space for beer, food and music. Each floor serves a different purpose. Ground floor is for beer and music. Beer selection is superb and contains a rotation of Cold Town brews as well as guest brews. 1st floor is for food and drink with a DJ and the top floor is a beautiful terrace overlooking Grassmarket and the castle.
G. P.
A fantastic place in Edinburgh city centre for some top quality lagers . Excellent service as well, prices are very good value for money for the quality of the craftsmanship of all the ales. Didn't try any food however, I would definitely recommend Cold Town House, and I look forward to my next visit to the establishment.
#vivaColdTownHouse
A. S.
Great after sitting in the beer garden yesterday. Friendly and efficient service and a great selection of drinks available!
D. F. (.
Decent pub/restaurant with its own lil brewery. There is live music on here and tends to have a nice atmosophere , especially when you sit around the main table/ open fire. My only gripe is how slow it is to get served at the bar even when it's not that full. It really deflates the night if you are standing 25 minutes for one over priced beer.
S. D.
A new beautiful spot in the heart of the old town with an amazing view on the Castle. What is more surprising is the quality of food. You would never suspect that in a pub/prosecco bar kind of place there is a real pizza wood oven and pizzas cooked the napolitanean style and with excellent quality of toppings too! I am looking forward to being back with my colleagues on next Saturday for pizza and live music!
M. R.
Fantastic tap room selling a wide range of craft beers. There's also a good menu with good pizzas, and a big screen for sports. Roof terrace as well, for those rare sunny days.
M. Q.
Great service, good atmosphere, excellent beers!
D. O.
Place looks nice and certainly in the summer,. If you find the space, the terrace must be great.
But: it seems to be fun by relatively inexperienced people. Busier playing with Walkie talkies rather than actually serving people.
Don't know. May try again for a snack or drink.
Probably move for parties.
A. G.
Wow, I will be definitely addng the Cold Town House to my 'let's go there' places. Good beers, the staff knowledgeable and willing to talk about the beers and let you have a taste. Lots of room too! I'll be adding a food review after my next visit..
S. W.
A really nice and spacious new craft beer pub. Beer selection is good, prices are very reasonable for central Edinburgh, and the roof terrace provides a great view of the imposing Edinburgh Castle nestled above
F. B.
Nice venue with decent cocktails and friendly staff. The rooftop area is quite nice, even in winter as they have heaters. Live music was quite good and a good atmosphere to match
K. G.
Great bar, great atmosphere. Unfortunately we arrived too late to sit on the roof terrace and it was too warm to sit in. So we had a drink and left. Cocktails were delicious though
L. M.
Lovely lunch with kids, great setting and service was fab. Amazing views of the castle too.
P. B.
Cold Town House is a great bar spanning three floors. A cosy bar on the ground floor, with attentive staff and table service and a stage for live music. A prosecco bar on the first floor which I've yet to go in, and a open top terrace on the top floor with cosy seating and a mini outdoor bar built into an old van. The pizzas are a great addition to a normal bar service and are the perfect size to share or eat on your own alongside some drinks. Overall, a splendid choice of venue on an otherwise predictably tourist-focused Grassmarket.
S. L.
The venue is incredible, have really outdone themselves with the setting and decor.
Unfortunately, the front of house staff were extremely rude to myself and two of my friends on several occasions when we were there tonight.
We are all working professional ladies, just finished work hoping to spend a nice chilled evening catching up over food yet we walked straight out after the two girls at the door had absolutely no customer service. Very disappointed.
O. S.
Great food and drinks. I would recommend the pizza - definitely worth trying. Main bar and restaurant is downstairs and you can also have drinks at the roof terrace with the castle view.
A. S.
Good service, nice atmosphere, but the pizza base was so thin, floppy and soggy that eating it was actually difficult.
M. B.
Great place with good atmosphere and staff very friendly
R. M.
A brilliant atmosphere and selection of craft beers with a great roof terrace providing a decent view of the castle. The Raspberry Berliner Weisse is legendary and a must if you're dropping in.
p. h.
Great place, great brews, very good food and lots of space. The terrace is amazing and the location is excellent. Right in the grass market where there's a lot of action. Also the pizza is delicious
T. W.
Good beer, good pizza. Nice view on balcony on top floor. Quirky toilets and sinks made from old metal beer casks.
R. D.
Great space to chill on a sunny afternoon, food was yummy, we took our baby and staff were really accommodating looking after our pram as the lift was broken. Funky contemporary interior and amazing views of the castle
C. B.
Unreal place to eat and drink!! Loads of drinks options which I ighly recommend the cocktail slushies. 10/10 place!!!
P. H.
Good bar and good selection of drinks. Service was a bit slow at time. I ordered an old fashioned and it was quite watery by the time I received it as if it had been made a while and the ice was already melting
K. M.
Very cool spot. A bar and a pizzeria in a renovated church. There's also a great rooftop bar. The pizza was very tasty and the service was lovely. Enjoyed this spot very much!
M. C.
Nice central venue with great beers and atmosphere.
M. L.
Great food and amazing service! Super professional! Managers and waiters are super nice and confident/relax which makes the whole experience really great. 10/10!
J. R.
Good range of unusual beers. Annoyingly fast clearing of drinks on rooftop area if you leave unattended for a minute to go to toilet - but thanks to excellent bar manager Jamie for sorting it out and replacing drinks!
F.
Best beer garden view in Edinburgh.
P. D.
Great place to stop and have a drink and relax
G. D. G.
It's a charming modern place that brews is own beer (or so I was told). Good quality of drinks, nice people and music. It could improve the toilets.
G. I.
Good beer. Go during the week and you'll get a great pizza and beer deal. Roof top with great views. What's not to love! Give it a try.
I. J.
Really like the place - their own brew beers are great, and the food, though nothing fancy, is always tasty. Recommend the IPA with a pizza (lovely dough)
M. R.
Very nice mocktails, not too expensive. Very original flavours. Watermelon, blueberry, rosemary. The chicken caesar salad was so yummy too.
T. L.
Good selection on 10 pumps with half being their beers. Social distancing and other covid guidelines very much followed and still managed to get in at short notice.
D. R.
Took our kids to have breakfast with Santa, food was amazing as per usual. Staff were lovely and attentive.
D. S.
Great beer, excellent burger - will absolutely need to visit again!
I. L.
A fun microbrewery with a limited selection of home brewed beers, but each one different and delicious. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
M. B.
Great bar with a wide choice of taps, a food menu including good pizzas, a wonderful terrace with a smaller bar and infrared lamps, and frequent live music gigs. Really great venue.
K. A.
Nice atmosphere, really nice place. Amazing staff. However, the live music is a bit too loud and the live music should go one at least until 1am
P. H.
Very attentive. Food and cocktails great . Will be back
T. C.
Amazing addition to Grass Market. Huge venue with so much to offer. Great food, fantastic service and the rooftop terrace is perfect... though maybe not for all year round. 😂
C. H.
The pizzas in this place are amazing! Plus they have a micro brewery! I you are in Edinburgh and love pizza, you have to go to Cold Town House!!!
B. D.
Food is great and staff are friendly! It's very busy in the ground floor bar area but the restaurant and roof terrace have a good atmosphere
S. T.
Nice place, great beers at good prices. Nice atmosphere but music can get a bit loud at times though. Would definitely go back.
S. G.
Great setting, and great views from the roof terrace bar. Pizzas and beer were very good.
M. R.
New brewery in town with a rooftop seating area and extensive drinks and food menu in the heart of Edinburgh. Great views of the castle too.
J. S.
Thought the quality of beer and service was excellent. I particularly like the Cold Town Pale Ale that had a crisp taste and wasn't too heavy as a beer.
S. A.
The rooftop terrace is amazing.
C. S.
Amazing beer selection, lovely interior and cosy. Only downside is pouring of beers, both rounds came overflowing and with foam that would give Mr Whippy a run for his money!
D. H.
Saturday night visit, what a fantastic new venue. It was a very busy as to be expected but the atmosphere, food and drinks and service was first class. My new regular! :)
m. t.
What a great place....great food great beers great friendly staff
J. B.
Nice building and decor, service was friendly, but slow. The bar is in a ridiculously bottlenecked position downstairs. Looks like it will be a decent place, but is still obviously very new, with staff flapping about everywhere.
A. P.
Shame the Roof Terrace and restaurant was fully booked for four days solid, but grateful they were able to squeeze us in one evening for a quick 4 Pint tower!
G. M.
Fantastic rooftop terrace with amazing views of Edinburgh Castle. Great pizza too and Paulaner Munich beer on draught. I could have stayed all day if I was able to...
N. F.
Could have done without the lad having his guitar and PA turned up to 11. Lovely atmosphere when guitar man went on a break. Good player too, just too loud.
J. “. R.
Friendly staff, great prices and atmosphere for a Sunday evening
Would definitely recommend, thanks!
D. F.
Excellent venue, brilliant staff, food and beer. The layout and design offers so much, breath of fresh air, highly worth seeking out.
D. M.
Sean was very helpful, made our romantic trip to Edinburgh very special!
T. B.
Great place, very friendly staff. Pizzas are pretty good and a decent selection of drinks
D. P.
Great cocktails, great atmosphere. A really new and fresh vibe. One of the best new pubs in Edinburgh.
T. S.
Great towers of beer, great place to watch sport and even greater mullets from some of the clientèle
L. D.
Really enjoyed our visit to cold town house. Staff were really friendly and food was good great value for money will definitely be back again.
R. M.
Really friendly staff and the goujons and chips were fab, as was the larger!
L. C. P.
Perfect environment, live music...
S. D.
Excellent service, food and drinks. Very good covid safe measures and would definitely go back.
I. C.
Great place, very quick to service. Will book the main restaurant next.
R. B.
Staff were very helpful and welcoming. The pizza was very good with the base wellfired the way we like it. Reasonably priced.
E. L.
Loved the food and drinks, but the service is a little slow and it was hard to get their attention to order more drinks. But it was great value for money!
A. C.
Really enjoyed our visit back in August, great beer and friendly team. Hope to visit again when the restrictions have stopped.
D. W.
Really enjoyed lunch here this week - delicious pizza as always!
K. M.
Great selection of beers, rooftop terrace, restaurant level with fresh cooked tasty simple food. Big screens.
J. G.
Amazing food and great selection of beers. Staff are welcoming and always happy to help.
F. M.
Very please with the service and atmosphere in the Cold Town House. Would definitely recommend and be going back there.
S. M.
Very lovely people... Great beer and atmosphere...view of the castle and cable cats on the roof terrace :D
M. H.
Lovely place to be, but the lager was awful. Flat and tasteless. Only stayed for a couple of drinks
D. K.
Great service, tasty food, good value. And the views!
K. S.
Would like to thank you all in Cold Town House Edinburgh for a great night - the terrific service, food, live music and not forgetting the delicious cocktails, you guys did well and we will all be back soon - special thanks to Therese Grethe for arranging this for us - we all had a fantastic time 🍸🎉💃🏻🍕
J. H.
Very nice. Rooftop bar amazing. Pity it was cold but didn't stop public. Will wait for warmer weather.
W. L.
EXCELLENT view of the castle from here, very relaxed vibe and menu.
G.
If you ask the barman for a lager topless he will get on a table and strip for you. Wished I'd got served by the gorgeous barmaid instead.
D. H.
We had the first floor for a work party good hot tasty food especially bar snacks large range of drinks. Pleasant helpful staff
S. B.
Great roof terrace with views of the castle
R. E.
