Reviews of The Beerhive
T. G.
I love shops where the proprietors actively listen to you and genuinely want to help you find something great. Cameron was super helpful, both for selecting local beers and also for recommending some local, independently produced Whisky. (I got a couple bottles of Lochlea as gifts for family.) Great shop. Check 'em out.

Proud regular of the shop. Makes me feel like my coeliac disease doesn't completely hinder me from enjoying my beer! Have a nice wee selection of craft GF beers and a plethora of other kinds.
Prices are also comparable to what you'd get them for online so it's nice to see local shops successfully compete with online marketplaces. Oh, and everyone is always super helpful and friendly too! Another plus.
P. C.
Excellent selection of craft beers, friendly, knowledgeable and super helpful staff. All the reasons to keep shopping local!
N. G.
Great little shop packed with beer, wine gin etc. friendly knowledgable staff, plenty of local choice which is what I was after. The prices are reasonable, bought a selection of locally produced beer all of which were packed with flavour and not too comedy strong. Will be back again soon👍
P. B.
Great local off license. Famous for the beer options but the wine selection equally as good. Not huge but you get the impression that a lot of thought went into selecting them. As a varied selection from around the world. The Australian and the Portuguese reds were really well put together reds. Thumbs up from the critics at home.
C. R.
Great selection of beers, wines and spirits. Very friendly and helpful staff helped with my selection. Give them a try.
S. C.
This is such a great shop, the staff are so helpful and the Irish guy giving free gin and port samples was so nice and informative about the local distillery
N. c.
I went just a few times getting some wine and I always got great advice on wine!
French dude approved 😅

Fantastic staff, all super friendly and knowledgeable. Great selection and prices are good. A gem of a shop.

Until recently I was lucky enough to live just round the corner from the Beerhive and enjoyed popping in and getting some recommendations for beers and wines. Since I moved I've missed visiting but the friendly folks there were so helpful over email when I asked for a parcel of IPAs to be put together for a friend's Christmas present. 10/10 would recommend!

I live locally and am the organist at the local church so I walk past this shop all the time - I should visit more often. Always friendly service and genuine, non-patronising advice. Thanks for helping me pick wines for Christmas presents. Much appreciated
S. D.
Fantastically friendly and knowledgeable staff with an ever changing range of tasty beers and spirits.
Always our go to, even though we're no longer as local.
D. J.
Best beer and wine in town. Do a mean whisky selection too.

New to the area but this is one of the best drinks shop I have been to, very friendly, on point and has one of the best selections I've ever seen.
Highly recommended and we will be back, thanks.

A great off licence which specialises in local beers as well as a wide range of imported stock. Plenty of wine and other alcohol on sale too. I picked up some great Spanish Cider. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about what they sell too, which is always appreciated. Will definitely go here again.

Good selection but could do with some Aussie beers which is hard to find in this city. Could do with some VB, Coopers or some James Boags. (Maybe to difficult get due to limited availability and the pandemic) but just voicing my opinion if it is at all possible to get some.
s. R.
One of the best beer shops I've been in and the lads are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
F. H.
Super friendly staff, they are always willing to help you find what you may need (or not know you need!).
S. a.
A nice little off license that caters for specialist taste.
I. W.
Great shop with local, UK & world craft beers. Good amount of stock balancing lots of choice/variety/quality against having a bunch of mediocre stuff in like some places do. Would definitely visit again.
E. M.
Great range and very friendly staff
G. B.
I like this wee shop. I can always find some special stuff here. (Last time it was an Icelandic White ale - wheat beer. Soooo good!!! ) Also the chaps are very helpful if you need any recommendations. Keep up the good work!
K. C.
Great staff, helped me find some great local beers when I was visiting Scotland.
T. B.
I popped in for a quick visit and was immediately asked to take part in a beer tasting for a local brewery - now that's my kind of beer shop! They stock a fantastic selection of beer, cider, gin and wine and the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
R. D.
Went there today to buy a gift for a friend, was recommended three by one of the friendly guys working there, bought them all and was given a doughnut as well. Quite possibly the best shop in Edinburgh, very welcoming and pleasant!
A. B.
Some really nice beers here from good breweries, including special editions and more niche styles. Staff were helpful and offered samples while I browsed. Prices v reasonable.
N. H.
Excellent selection of beers and wines with exceptionally friendly staff. The Beerhive provided the wine for our wedding and our guests were very impressed with the quality of wine. Highly recommend!
J. M.
Excellent independent bottle shop with very informed staff. Usually get in new stock on a Monday.
The shop features an area where growlers can be filled and taken away with fresh draft beer, one of the few places anywhere in Scotland.
Fridays and Saturdays are usually busier with full floor service being given. The team usually crack open a couple bottles for sampling.
The shop also has a selection of wines and spirits. Gins, vodkas and rum they try to focus on Scottish or British made, with Leith Gin and Dark Matter both being sold here.
r. w.
Best beer selection I have ever seen in a shop. They have all of my favourite IPA's plus a few I've never heard of.
i.
Always a great selection of gluten free beers (and loads of others too!). Friendly and knowledgeable staff. How shopping for beer should be.
J. M.
The best beer shop in Edinburgh. Consistently great selection of quality beer coupled with friendly, knowledgable staff. Plus an ever-changing keg beer which is always interesting and usually delicious. Wish it was my local offie.
A. W.
Almost more beer than wine which is pretty interesting! They've got a huge selection and the knowledge to back up every sale. They're always friendly and the stocks is always changing.
H. M.
Sometimes I'll treat myself to a beer from here. Yeah, it's no cheap. But that's some good beer you're about to drink. Wish they had a bit more of alambic/sweet lambic section tho.v nice staff.
J. W.
Went in looking for something different than the standard IPAs and Pete hooked me right up with some great ideas, like a "sour beer" that is almost half like a wine. There is also a selection of Kilchoman whiskys. This is the place for me!
y.
looking forward to my peach melba sour, superb service and plenty choices.... Vault City including👍
A. R.
Nice bottle shop with staff willing to chat. Rotating keg to get a growler filled - loses a star as I'd like more fridges and the fridge space they do have not to be taken up by macro lagers and Irn Bru.
M. G.
Great selection and encyclopedic knowledge. The staff can give suggestions to meet the most vague criteria or enthusiastically describe the character and providence of every bottle and can in the shop.
R. C.
Great selection of craft beers. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Wines and spirits available too.
C. V.
Amazing guys doing a great job! I came in to buy a couple of beers... Ended up buying 8 because their description was enthusiastic and it made me want to buy some beer!

This place is amazing - staff really put a great deal of effort in. I would recommend this over some of the more pretentious Stockbridge shops.
