Reviews of Grunting Growler Craft Beer
G. F.
This is an amazing place for a craft beer lover. So much choice - full fridges and rotating draught options. The owner really knows his stuff and is happy to share his knowledge.
It’s recently been renovated and there are plenty of spots to sit.
Just a nice wee place to go and sit with a quality beer.
O.
I have been to many, many craft beer shops and this is simply the best I've been to in any country so far.
The beers on tap are always varied and interesting.
The shelf selection is extensive with lots of fridge space and representation of breweries from micro to macro
It's been recently refurbished giving it a nice airy, open feel and better for sitting in if you wish.
The owner is a great guy and will make you feel welcome and informed.
If you like beer and are in Glasgow this is your number one place to visit, no question!
B. H.
Popped in here on a Sunday afternoon for a drink or two, tried 4 of 5 beers on tap, all happily served in half pints, all solid beers. Dead quiet, literally was the only person there for most of the time, perfectly fine by me compared to day before struggling to get a seat.
Borrowed a pen to make some notes on upcoming work projects but ended up talking to the guy running the place for most of the time - couldn't ask for a better bar keep/host.
Said by others, but a must visit if in Glasgow and want good beer in a welcoming environment.
D. J.
The best bottle shop in Glasgow if not the world. And you can sit in and enjoy a can, bottle or freshly poured beer. The range they stock is enough to satisfy a need for any style. Jehad, as well as being one of the nicest humans on earth, is so incredibly knowledgeable about all things beer. If he can't help you, know one can. Friendly, relaxing atmosphere geared towards beer aficionados and those who just want a good pint.

Stumbled across this bar a few months ago, but it wasn't open. Made sure to visit over the weekend when I knew it was and wasn't disappointed.
Minimalist decor and good use of empty Key-Kegs as Bar stools! There's only a handful of beers on tap, but that means the beer is fresh and there's always something different available, but loads of beers in the fridge are available to drink right away or takeaway.
Staff and friendly and helpful.
Already looking forward to visiting again.

Grunting Growler has an outstanding craft beer selection. They have good stuff on tap, as well as tons more in the fridges. They have stuff you can't find in many other places.
The owner is a great guy as well. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you're a beer lover. Drop in for a sample, leave with a growler.

My friend told me that the owner is one of the best human beings on this planet. This evening, I came to the store with him. I found that he was absolutely correct. The high-quality beer and dynamic background music made him can’t help dancing. Believe me, I'm not kidding, once you have a chance to travel to the solar system. You must come here. cheers!
R. K.
Great selection of beers available. Owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. Love that it is dog friendly too. Great for take away or sitting in for a drink. Would definetely recommend a visit!
J. K.
An absolutely staggering amount of craft beer from all over the UK and farther. If you are a craft beer enthusiast it is a definite must see
C. K.
Never stopped in for a drink, but I've bought plenty to take away from GG. Jehad is always full of great chat and the fridges are always full of great beer. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a bottle shop in the West End!
J. D.
The Growler is a beer destination. It has a casual atmosphere that is a great place to grab a pint and beer to takeaway. It has one of the largest and well curated selections of craft beer in Glasgow. They have regular special events that offer a unique opportunity to taste a variety of beer. The staff is passionate, knowledgeable, and ready to help find a beer you'll like. As the name says, be sure to grab a growler of one of the rotating taps to take home. And yes, they'll fill growlers from other breweries.
S. B.
Lovely wee shop. Perfect for picking up some new/rare beers 🍻
G. R.
Lovely little place with an extremely wide range of beers and staff who know their beers!
F. W.
Great space serving as both an off license and a wee spot to sit in and enjoy their wares. They have adopted the Americanism of selling "growlers", which is a great thing if you pass by regularly. I have total faith in what beers they choose to stock which makes singling out what to drink a lot less stressful than some other places as I'm sure I won't get a dud. Incredible staff knowledge and not a single hint of pretension in anything. Just a great spot for beer.
C. C.
Excellent selection of beers on tap and some very unique canned/bottled offerings.
Jehad is super chill and friendly; a genuinely nice guy who is incredibly passionate about beer and it really shines through.
I stopped by for the first time on a Thursday night; there were so many different varieties of beer to choose from, I wasn't sure where to start. The bartender did one heck of a great job narrowing down a few pints of stouts for me.
After a few delicious rounds, I was hesitant at first but decided to go with Jehad's and the bartender's recommendation to give the marshmallow porter a go; definitely worth it - those gents know their beer!
When you go, let them know what kind of beer is to your liking and I'm sure they will be able to help you find something special and unique to enjoy.
L. D.
Great little place to enjoy some beers with friends. Lots and lots of options from all over. Clean and friendly.
F. R.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful crew, outstanding choice especially when it's so tricky to get anything from outside of the UK, and great prices when you consider shipping costs these days. Thanks for brilliant service
B. S.
An outstanding place to experience all that is great about beer in it's broadest sense. Not only can you walk in and buy great beer to takeaway but you can also sit in and sample the delights of the vast selection of beers that Grunting Growler has in its fridges. Also, the owner Jahad had five taps on the go also which provide you with some top quality draught beer as well. If you are anywhere nearby and enjoy beer, you MUST visit this place. Absolutley outstanding! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A. J.
Great selection of interesting beers. Cute little home-spun 'tap -room' means you can enjoy in house while chatting to congenial and knowledgeable owner. Small selection of distinctive draught options. Dog friendly and lovely chilled neighbourhood atmosphere.
R. G.
Like craft beer? Prefer it on draught? Well now you can now have it all! This is Glasgow's original and first Growler bar and it really is a mecca for the craft beer lover!
On first visit you buy a Growler Jug (which is yours to keep) and get it filled up with the beer of your choice, straight and fresh from the tap. There are often 5-6 draught beers to choose from and getting a sample is no trouble at all. There is also a myriad of weird and wonderful bottles / cans from all over the planet in the fridges. If you need anything explained, the incredibly knowledgeable and friendly owner will be more than happy to help.
Recently Grunts has been able to serve beer in the shop for a small corkage fee. It's a great place to enjoy a beer, the vibe is cool, the music is rockin' and the chat always good! Definitely one of the best beer bars/shops in Glasgow.
C. R.
Brilliant shop / bar - friendly knowledgeable staff and an incredible range of craft beers 🍻

I was in this morning with the wife to get her “secret Santa” gift for work. Great service! Very knowledgable staff, fab banter. Annnnd! What an amazing array of beers from around the world!
l.
I'd used GG's a few times, and always found their range really interesting and service helpful and friendly, but recently they went above and beyond. I organised with them a last-minute delivery as a surprise gift and the length Jehad and the team went to to make sure the surprise went to plan was brilliant. They customised the order, delivery times, and were incredibly flexible, and when the delivery arrived as promised, the product was their usual very high standard. I really couldn't ask for more and will be back using them whenever I can. I can't recommend them highly enough.
f.
I love this place. First time visiting since before lockdown and man what a treat.
Can't wait to come back!!!
A. T.

Nice little place. Friendly service. Offered us to have a taste before we bought anything. Nothing was too much trouble. Huge selection of beers in the fridge to take away and a good amount on tap. If you like beer you'll like this place.
J. S.
Best place to treat yourself with fantastic selection of craft beers. Great staff, you'll regret if you missed that place. Definitely recommend.
S. H.
The BEST place for covid distancing and absolutely fantastic beers. We come so often because we love it. Not the cheapest because of what they offer so don't expect to stay all day but so so good for a couple of hours. The amount of excellent advice based on tiny knowledge of what you might like is brilliant. Cannot recommend more highly!!!
M. C.
Really different but quality place with some beer selection
A. B.
Love it. Great range of more unusual brewers as well as some well known. Great atmosphere if you want have a drink in. The guys are really knowledgeable and happy to help select and recommend alternatives. Always time for a chat. I'm really glad they set up. Well worth a visit I'm sure you'll find something that wets your whistle

M. M.
Excellent craft beer shop. So much choice and Jehad is happy to point you in the right direction if you need any help.
J. T.
Amazing host and variety. Corkage is a dampener
T. M.
Super friendly; great range of beer styles; really easy to chat to and get good honest recommendations; plus you can make sure you're into whatever's on tap before you take it away! The different available growler sizes are a plus too - the craft beer pub around the corner, which shall not be named, only does little ones!
K. N.
Awesome beer, awesome service. The curated but large selection of bottles and Jehad's personalised recommendations make it easy to try out new stuff.
S. W.
Great place with excellent selection of beer and really friendly staff
R. C.
A concentration of many local brews can be found here. Great place for a quick craft brew.
P. B.
Fantastic little bar. Small selection on draft and a huge selection of cans and bottles. Few little beer nibbles also available. The guy working really knew his beers and was extremely friendly. Really enjoyed my afternoon there.
i. b.
Great selection of beers and a knowledge proprietor.
C. W.
Known mostly for its selection of draft beers that you can take home in a big glass jug and Glasgow's best beer fridges, this Kelvingrove mainstay has transformed into a compelling little bar in its own right, with a variety of events and tastings through the year.
Sells vouchers, glassware and other gifts, including a particularly nice beer box.
M.
I used Grunting Growler for a private tasting event which went down well and was warmly received. Jehad was very friendly and helpful, meeting up with me prior to discuss arrangements.
Great service and looking forward to using again in the future and exploring the shop!
C. M.
Beer on tap to sit in, or take away (via the growler). Also tons of bottles and cans from loads of interesting breweries. Plenty of drinking/food/sporting events. Place always has a great atmosphere. If you're into your beer, or want to be, I would highly recommend.
A. R.
The draft is always good and usually has a couple of different kinds of beer on you don't normally see on draft. Once you get home the beer pours just like draft from the growlers! Pic below is the lockdown growlers which a re plastic instead of the usual glass ones!
J. D.
Great selection of bottles and cans with the friendliest, knowledgeable staff. Plenty of room to sit in or fill up a Growler to go from the rotating tap selection. (Very!) Dog friendly too!
J. M.
Beer on tap to takeaway. Bit pricey on first visit as you need to stick a deposit down for your growler. Constant range of quality beer to fill it up from then on though. Also have good range of cans and bottles... a bit different from the craft beers you see kicking about everywhere else. Always served with a bit of top chat too.
N.
Amazing selection of craft beers, several fridges full! Very friendly and helpful staff and very dog friendly.. come try a drink and enjoy the experience!
G. S.
Fantastic local bottle shop. The owner is always happy to provide recommendations for beer and hasn't steered me wrong yet.
A. B.
Great selection of beers. Superb service, great atmosphere and all the staff have a honours degree in beer knowledge (if this was a qualification). The best place on earth!
S. M.
Great selection of beers and friendly service. Will give you a small taster of the beer before you buy a growler. Cans are all kept cold in fridges.
N. H.
Grunting Growler is a great place if you are a craft beer enthusiast. Even if you aren't clued up on your beers...pop in, have a chat, and learn from the experts. It's a no-brainer.
They always have an awesome selection of beers on draught, which you can fill up into your very own growler bottle. Oh, and lets not forget their wonderful bottle selection.
I highly recommend that you take time out of your day and pop in!
N. B.
Decent place. Friendly staff and a pretty good, small beer selection. Included some decent sours (e.g. Oud Beersel Oude Geuze Vandervelden 135 among others). Had a bottle of nice, fresh hobo chic and some other draft DIPA that wasn't memorable. Nice spot
A. R.
Decent bottle shop and now staff / owners. Good selection and events are pretty good, though sometimes a bit small. Loses a star because the seating needs improved.
L. M.
Most enthusiastic and knowledgable staff I have ever met and a well chosen, always changing selection of UK and international craft beer. Always a pleasure going in and getting my growler filled.
J. M.
It's a great place, intimate and friendly. Jihad, the Boss, is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about beers. You won't taste beers like this in any other part of the city.
J. C.

J. K.
Only for real beer aficionados. Not cheap as beers are top end specialist draught pours. Basic styling and deserves support as owner is a real enthusiastic grafter and nice guy to boot.
K. T.
Knowledable staff who care about their customers. An ever-changing line-up of fresh craft beer on draught and fridges of the latest craft beers to sit-in or take away. A jewel in Glasgow's craft beer crown.
