Been eating in Arments all my life. The shop is clean. Beautiful food, tasty, very filling and not expensive. Staff are lovely always willing to help with anything. I would DEFINITELY recommend. Also had it delivered and it's well packed same high quality food.

Probably the only one left still not following the supermarkets and putting gravy in the pies, the meat is cooked inside the pie. The Mash is not watered down so nice and heavy. The liquor is thick, and has improved over the last decade too. It's still worth a trip across London for.

I you read my posts you'll know I love pie mash. Told about Arments by my son, so glad lol. Went there for a take away, was thete 10 minutes before they opened, a member of staff said "not open yet but you're welcome to sit inside and wait" how kind. The Pie mash brought back great memories of my local pie mash shop that I grew up with, which sadly closed many years ago (Goodings of well street, Hackney) No wonder Arments have been there since 1914. The pies are cooked to perfection, mash portions as they should be and accompanied with Arments liquor bang on. Well single pie and double mash and liquor x 2 for under a tenner an absolute bargain. Give it a try if you love pie mash, your first time or you wanna try a different pie mash shop you won't be disappointed. Pic is 1x pie, 2 x mash and liquor (usually order 2 x mash as normally small portions) Arments large, bang on.

Still better then Manze's!! Arment's does need updating internally though. Those bench seats are far too uncomfortable, you can't sit, chat and relax. It's more of an order food, eat and get out situation. But I will stick my ground they are better then Manze's pie and mash.

Not just pie & mash but an experience!!! Staff are so friendly and so nice!!! The place is full of locals and regulars. I am a vegetarian and asked for the veggie pie with mash. They asked me to wait for a few minutes. They have a really fast pace and people don’t wait. They order, eat and go. When my quorn pies were ready (yes, two of them), the lovely lady called me up and then told me to tell her after how it was. Great combination! The pastry is really delicious and the filling was amazing! The mashed potato and leek sauce were also amazing. The lovely lady told me to give them a call a few minutes before heading over there next time so they can make it fresh. Although my was heated from frozen, it was delicious and I’ll be going back for sure.

Being a Londoner is many things, but one of them is keeping old tradition alive and pie and mash is as much a tradition as it is a tasty meal. The pies at arments are crisp and packed with meat. They are worth the trip alone but I urge you to try the stewed eels....very tasty!

I finally did it - visited a Pie & Mash shop for the first time and it happened to be Arments as this was the only one open near me on a Saturday. This was my first experience of this particular pie and mash shop and I have got to say hands down this is one of the best!.. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the smell of fresh pie pastry cooking and welcomed by the sight of a table full of them being made right in front of you. It is a very large restaurant with lots of seating and very friendly, welcoming staff. Not overly expensive and delicious to the very last bite. Highly recommended.

If you have tried the rest you will know that this is the best! Living 3 hours from London it is difficult to get to the shop as often as I would like. In December I took away a huge box of chilled pies to freeze when I got home, I can now have Pie and mash whenever I like. I e-mailed the site and the staff were really helpful and everything was boxed and ready when I arrived. Great service great food.

I have been eating Arments Pie & Mash since I was 3 years old. 58 years later I am still eating it and it still tastes exactly the same. It is undoubtedly the best Pie & Mash shop in the UK. The staff are very friendly and the shop is very clean. I moved away from Walworth years ago but still ordered a vast amount of pies and Liquor to freeze. Now I live in Spain and I am gutted Roy isn't opening an Arments near me!! So when I come back to the UK my first port of call is Arments!! I am going there next Friday cannot wait.

Traditional pie and mash and liquor (in the parsley sauce sense). It's not fancy, so there's not much point being critical of the cramped seating or lack or drinks choices other than a vending machine. This place is about authenticity and history. Take it or leave it.

Grew up on the two best Pie shops, Westmoreland Rd and Manzes in Walthamstow, E17. My first real food I ever ate as a baby and 48 year's later, it's still my favourite food of all time, I even dream about it. Coming up to my 5th Birthday, my parent's asked me if I wanted Pie and Mash or a Birthday party? I apparently with no hesitation requested Pie and Mash. Obviously I got both, luckily. There isn't another taste like it in the world, and I have travelled. That unique taste using only a Spoon and Fork at all times..., along with an extra pot of liquor and Stewed Eels on the side if they have any left? Plenty of vinegar and white pepper and just indulge yourself into a heavenly delight, that'll make you go back for more and more. How lucky am I to have a Mother from The Elephant and a Father from Poplar, even though I myself was born and bred in Southgate, N.London.

This takes me back to my youth, when these pie shops were all over South London, and also sold eels, hot and jellied. There is something unique about the pies; they are nothing like the meat pies you see in shops. Personally, I never liked the liquor, which is a very runny bright green sauce with parsley, but most people have their meal swimming in it. I also liked the vinegar, which then had some small peppers floating in the bottle, to add a kick. After a morning exploring the nearby shops and market off Walworth Road, there was nothing better than double pie and one mash, before heading out later, to pubs along the Old Kent Road. If you have never tried it, then it is a London delicacy that you have missed out on. This is history and working-class culture, on a plate.

They have a vegetarian pie on the menu - a bit of a wait as it's cooked to order, but I enjoyed it so didn't mind. Mash and liquer (liquor?) also good. Plus they have the usual extras you'd hope to find, like chilli vinegar and sarsaparilla. Decor a bit on the basic side compared to, say, Manze's, but still impressive that they've been going for a hundred years. I get the impression the vast majority of customers are regulars.

Proper pie. Propper mash. Propper liquor. Feel the Eels wriggling up inside of ya. It doesent get more Londinium than this. True experience and they also have veggie pies for those veggies among you (They reccomend calling up before arrival so they can get the veg heater fired up). Want a drink with your eel pie? They have a propper old school vending machine in there. They also have chilli vinegar and it'll make your tongue do a flip.

Place is ok. Not decorated place but kept clean. The food was soso for me. Btw Im from s.korea so I should point out that spicy food is my normal diet which makes the pie and mash from here and probably another places a bit to .. dull?flat? for me. Otherwise, nice food. I tried stewed eel which was interesting for me because s.korea also has eel food made in other ways. Stewed eels was good. Because on nonspiciness, gave 3 stars but otherwise, 4star.

When I first got pie n mash it was on the opposite side of the road and there was also one in Walworth road ...... I had eaten pie n mash before but they was from Berts Peckham park road and they opened another in Old Kent road but I don't think that lasted for long ... Arments takes the biscuit where pie n mash is concerned .... Yum

Down from Inverness on Tuesday my first stop was of course Arments,im sorry there is just no comparison.i grew up with arments and it tastes the same as if it were yesterday.im bk home to Scotland tomorrow so I was here again today,double pie and mash £5.95 what a bargain good old fashioned grub,if you haven't been here try it you won't be sorry.dont forget their shut from September 25 for staff holidays enjoy the break you work hard
